6:38 am

I don't recall ever seeing a word starting with tm

6:52 am

It's a derivation of Latin and/or Greek. And it's about words. So all the word nerds here probably use it at cocktail parties. 😊

what were you working off the chat, nan's post is the first one and is still on.

well, first tile grayed on first try. that's either a good sign or has nothing to do with anything.

yep, can't even get half on 2nd tile

Just over a week and I have much to do!

8:53 am

8:57 am

What are you two doing with all your animals?

8:57 am

Will do.

8:57 am

I'm boarding my dog and having a person come in daily for my cat.

8:57 am

Ru has a sitter that stays at his house.

8:58 am

I know nothing about animals. Why not the daily person for dog and cat?

8:59 am

My dog can't be along for long periods. My cat sitter only comes in for a half hour once a day.

8:59 am

9:19 am

there wouldn't be a house standing if he was alone

9:21 am

10:51 am

telepathic vibes, molly

10:51 am

I have the 9, the chat just confused me

10:53 am

So if Hurshy says "I'm done" will you see all the rest of your words? Wild

10:55 am

well, it SORT of implied what the first two letters were, since i found it between doing the NTPN and giving the dings for it

10:56 am

yes. I knew it likely started ra. worked from there

10:56 am

fw: had to look up me7, a word that means "partial blindness".. but I was completely blind to it, lol. Off to do some laundry on this rainy day. Happy Babbling all!

it's an ordinary word, something found in most houses

12:37 pm

hokie, it keeps me warm

four syllables

12:37 pm

See, there's the clue

12:38 pm

3 clues and yet I still don't know 🤣. don't worry, I will think on these while I look for other words, thanks.

imagine boiling water running through your house -- where does the water go?

12:39 pm

saw it just before that

12:40 pm

not sure I've ever lived in a house with that, though. maybe most old houses.

12:40 pm

we pulled them all out when we moved in to our house.

12:41 pm

my grandmother had a modern electric heater that looked just like one.

12:42 pm

9-6-4-3 I have even tried looking for 4s. crazy.

12:45 pm

Not any in most houses lately

12:46 pm

maybe they still have a lot up in MI where Gwen is

12:47 pm

Could be but they are not a part of the central HVAC that most modern houses have.

12:49 pm

found 3 t4's to gray 2 tiles

12:56 pm

Hi all. Yes peri, i think so.

12:56 pm

Wow any clues welcome for the 9. I dont have stat either.

12:57 pm

yes, we were literally just talking about it

12:59 pm

Got the 9. Ty. Clues below were great.

1:00 pm

Any clues for first column i word? Thanks

1:00 pm

is4

1:02 pm

Ty. Got it.

1:07 pm

Chat is so confusing. Peri hasn't been here for hours.

1:09 pm

not necessarily the chat that is confused.

1:10 pm

Possibly

I know mine usually refreshes when I come back, but there is the occasional instance where it doesn't. prob what happened to mkg.

ra8/9: surprised that it is so unkown

not unknown by me, I was looking in the wrong direction

1:11 pm

I know of them. They just aren't in most houses.

ah. mostly replaced by baseboard units now. i remember dad having special paint to paint them.

1:12 pm

I think they are more common in the northeastern states. they don't need ac.

perhaps the same silver paint used to paint the fence. can you imagine that level of home maintenance now?

1:13 pm

yes, i can. old house here.

we lived in units constructed in 20's to 40's growing up. had the large ones. some were covered

well, I gotta mow before it rains again. BBL

good luck with that. i know we need it desparately, but perhaps some sun in between...

1:56 pm

the house I grew up in had baseboard ra8, so did most of the houses in my neighborhood.

1:57 pm

Yep, they were common many years ago. Not common these days.

1:59 pm

wet heat FTW

2:00 pm

no need for a humidifier with rads

2:00 pm

exactly!

2:02 pm

FTW= for the win

2:11 pm

two ds left...

2:12 pm

see you tomorrow.

2:57 pm

My house was built in 1880... ra9 in every room. The old kind that take up space. I love them.

2:57 pm

Mine are water, not steam.

3:23 pm

Doesn't the water + heat make steam?

3:25 pm

not necessarily... some ra9 are filled with steam, some with very hot water that is not hot enough to be steam... when I have to bleed mine to get rid of excess air, when the air is done, actual water follows it, not steam....

3:27 pm

Steam ra9 use a steam boiler to heat air and circulate it through metal fins or pipes, while hot water ra9 transfer heat by circulating heated water through metal fins or pipes

rehi - can I find these last 15?

3:27 pm

steam ra9 = better moisture in air hot water ra9 = quieter and more energy efficient

3:27 pm

I'm down to 13 here

I have 5-5-3-2 OO M RR D A SS PP K T AA

3:47 pm

was just about to ask about ps

3:48 pm

found my missing o words... they are OE

I just started late. I am sorting through photographs for a book I am writing. Will anyone want to keep my parents' birth certificates, my grandparents wedding invitation, all these documents?

of course they are. I've decided to go the list.

It depresses me to think that all this stuff will be gone. I am getting NYU to include my dad's store in their archive. At first I just wanted a plaque where the store was. My family thought I was crazy but I persisted. Turns out, they want an archive of neighborhood history and my dad was also an alum. Never finished a Ph.D.

was going through some of my parents' stuff like that recently, so I understand.

My other grandfather was well known in socialist theater at the turn of the 20th century. I bought two archives on eBay(!). Stuff I never knew existed. He was concert master at Carnegie Hall. He died young. Things went south for him. He died in 1937, and two random people on eBay had his theater clippings and and a book he write.

nellie, do you have the me7?

I go through this every now and then. I assumed the next generation would be interested, but I can't assume anything.

3:54 pm

me7 hint?

I would love one. are you asking for one?

and i just looked up the oe's. I hate those kind.

My grandfather in a sweatshop in the Lower East Side. Boxes of negatives, because he and my dad were photographers.

3:55 pm

I don't have me7 yet

Sorry, let me play the game.

3:55 pm

oh man, my last t7 was obvious

3:56 pm

just looking for me7 to finish

it's 7/36

3:56 pm

I think passing down family history is good. It might matter to someone.

3:56 pm

yeah, I went to the list right after you did

NYU wants my dad's stuff and he wasn't a famous person at all. My grandfather- someone is writing a book about progressive theater and contacted me.

But we boomers are the first of the constantly photographed kids, and there is too much. Once there would be one portrait done in a lifetime. How many cute baby pictures are worth it?

3:58 pm

It's interesting to know about the people we came from.

3:58 pm

ooh...monkeyed that me 7....new one for me...

3:59 pm

i agree....was showing my great nephew and his girlfriend old family photos today....

My dad photographed the Persian Gulf in WWII and those pictures are at the Harvard museums. I donated them posthumously. He would have been surprised and pleased.

3:59 pm

ooh, help?

I'm obsessed with family archives.

4:00 pm
