GOOD MORNING
just wanted to wake everybody up
Good morning
:)
I wondered if the chat was working
first pass done, 44 remaining.
phantom: parakeet
tough As today
40 to go. gotta pack up - hagd!
Aw, the week at the Connecticut coast has ended.
phantom caterpillar
premed is allowed but not prelaw
37 left and HOET after first pass. 9-16-9-1-2
1 ahead of you carla, but no 7's or 8's yet
the 8 is a regular word
the 7 I have is unrelated in meaning but just one letter off
hello everyone
it's pouring again, just for novelty's sake
hey mael, beautiful morning here. looks like we're back to 95 next week, though.
phantom alpaca
also found you in the grid carla
I'm glad for today then, hokie!
ha! I got the related c word but didn't see my name.
my c phantom is catalpa...
well, managed to gray all but the A on the top row.
I don't even know what that means, but mine was caterpillar
etna
oops
as I also go across the top...
with a cat on my keyboard
Isn't it distracting to play with an animal crawling all over your keyboard?
not really, one gets used to it.
it's very distracting
it is distracting to me. while winston doesn't crawl over my keyboard, he does sometimes put his head on it and he a lot of times gets in my face. he's got the golden retriever gene of unrelenting need for attention.
but I've worked from home for 15 years now, cats are an occupational hazard
looks like a lot of people failing connections today at my other internet place.
guess I better try that
... i just looked at the board, carla, and yikes
got it
well, I got purple first, LOL. still working.
me too!
I found that the easiest? not sure why it was the purple
I agree
ok, realized the blue (thanks babble) and finished perfect
I went purple, yellow, blue, green
did you do the one the other day that was just two letter words? that was fun
I have no clue what you two are talking about
I did same order as you today. and yes, I thought it was fun.I did figure out what all the groups were but had my son help with the periodic and the greek
molly, NYT has a new game in beta called Connections, and it's quickly become my favorite there.
hilariously the only one that tripped me up was the US states lol
ha. I somehow know all the postal abbreviations for the states.
ooh, top row gray
thought I had found a right side A but it was my missing one from the top
bottom row gray! 11 left 1-4-3-1-2 E K A CCC T AA PP Going to walk Winston now. TTFN.
PS - I like this grid
phantom etcetera on the way out
Ts Toppled!
top row grey!
I'm just missing an A8.. any ideas?
:O
i have no 8s yet
will se4 it
found it.. haz's friend
i don't know haz's friends!
at sounds like the plural of a city in Georgia
I'm back, everything flooded again
I can't believe it, hadn't seen our driveway underwater once in ten years and now it's happened twice in less than 2 weeks
Hurshy doesn't know Haz's friend? I thought she had been around here that long.
ohhh i see, i just, it's not actually spelled like that
so i didn't think that that was what he meant
the babbler is atA____
no, i do know ata. in fact i had tea with her at the Ritz in London once! and then we went to a used bookstore i think
Well, I didn't think spelling had to be exact when cluing. It often isn't and people get the clues.
yeah, i just, had a mental block i guess
thought he might have meant a non-babbler friend
I don't know haz's real friends...but I know she chattted with Vicuna and Ata and FMitch a lot when I first started,
as did i :D
if you had said she was one of MY babble friends i would probably have figured it out sooner lol
but all's well that ends well
Speaking of British people, that news story about the British nurse who killed the 7 babies is gruesome.
:O
i haven't seen this story :( how very sad
It’s very sad. Senior paediatricians were speaking out about their concerns and were ignored. My daughter is just about to do the 1st 6 months of her paediatric training there. I expect there to be a lot of focus on the hospital.
we had a car picked up off the highway 10 feet in the air here - very unusual for southern new england!
by a tornado, i meant to say, lol
I was thinking aliens hursh
oh well, we get THAT all the time
*waiting for the laughs*
*chuckle*
ty dan
hah
:D
it's confirmed that some sort of tornado touched down in Rhode Island this morning...
I'll take the aliens at this point
yeah, the car was picked up on 295
driver has been taken to the hospital with injuries
off to work.. have fun everyone
bye ru
ttfn ruru
I hope they're alright! it's unimaginable in New England...
quite a story to tell for the rest of their life tho assuming they are ok
Did this happen recently? The thing in Connecticut?
this morning, yeah. MA/RI tornado, idk if CT also
Oh you said "we" so I thought you were referring to Connecticut
given the givens I think we need to start thinking about tornado sirens over here too
We get bad weather here in CT
no i don't live in CT anymore
Oh I thought your parents lived in Connecticut. Not living with them anymore or was I wrong about that?
you were wrong about that
rehi. can't remember ata's full name.
well then just think of the ocean
I remember the weapon atlatl, but that's not here
OCEAN
or the mythical lost civilization change i to e
yes, atlantic, but without knowing the stats of this word I'm finding it hard to get the right combo
ok, the prob was I was thinking it was a set and not trying a plural if there was no sing.
yeah those always get us that way
like I said, I didn't see the stats and didn't know what I was looking for.
yeah
still need one A there, which is also why I was hoping for a set
ditto, and 3 on the upper right
1-4-3-1-1
I just need 1 on the upper right. will try to guess some for you.
either ak4/8 set or ar4/8 set
aha, ar4/8 set
oh my i just realized i have neither of the 7s either
any PT words?
there is a cr7 and cr8, unrelated, both regular words
just one letter off though
mk i need both of those then
think of the moon and making something again
i thought making something again was RE8
LOL. you right
I imagined cr8
and i have a cr6 that is found on the moon
and apparently cr7
ok lol
I was thinking of re7 and re8
ok well thanks cause now i got re7!
apparently I am overheating from my walk
I knew I had one 7!
either that or your imagination is just on fire and you should sit down and write a story
yeah, probably not
still need 3 K words too, ick
wow every K i have is a 4
I just need 1, but I made up a lot as usual
I have one KR5
ty
there must be another non-4
cause i only need one more 4 in the whole grid
I feel like karen should be a regular noun now, like sheila
well, karet is not a word and karat is not in the grid. save you some time.
I also need only one more 4
why is shelia one?
aussie
what does it mean
woman
like a young woman
mk good to know
haven't you ever seen crocodile dundee?
no, i guess not
probaby have seen a small clip here and there but that's it
so if you really only have one K that is a non-4
that means my last 4 IS a K
I have 3 ka and 5 ke
got it!
yes
what's the other 8, anyone know?
besides at and re
what was your k?
Hi all. Reading the below and very confused, but interesting.
um it was the first ka4
I have that one. so how many ka do you have?
i have same as you now
hokie, there is a kr, do you have that?
3 ka4, 5 ke4, and kr5
I have a kr5
that would be it
that's just 9 hurshy!
i know, we still need one more each
probably the same one
oh, I thought you said you found your last K
unless there are two kr5s and i have one and you have the other
no, i found my last 4
which was that K
my kr5 is similar to the ka4 in the middle
oh, I still have 1-4-3-1-1 E K A CCC T A PP
there is a ka5
aha, will look, thanks
I mean, look more
:)
finally!
Good going carla
i can't fiiiiind it
Good going marksdolly
it's from hinduism if that helps. trying to think of a similar word with no luck
ends like the capital of honduras
it might help, i mean, i have been studying various religions
yay thanks!
lawn
well I am definitely stuck.
Me too. Trying to find the A word for third row A. One lousy word.
peeked at the flip for the 7 and 8
and what did you find out
mkg, it's a 4 that looks like a woman's name
Carla no crime there.
ap7 and pa8
it's not parakeet, because you know I already typed that just in case
got the ap! woot!
will take any and all clues
ummmmm you add mr gore to the ap5
Carla: for the ap: add ending to word before it.
weird, thanks
Never heard or saw that word before.
Anyone have a clue for the A word third column a?????
3rd row? I just gave one
Ty carla. I will go look now.
and I'm not yelling at you, just want to point out that a clue referencing a "word before it" is not helpful if you're not using a list.
Still not getting that A 4 for middle row A. Darn. And yes i know about the clueing to a word before. Sorry.
well I wish I could find my last 4 and then I would list
it is al4
it's al4/5
Add Gores first name to all the ap 5s. Thats all i can suggest
bea!
Ty for stat.
well, I found it with hurshy's clue, but thank you
Got the al! Ty ty ty.
hey, carla.
just getting here today
do you mean the third row .... think of the latin expression that you use to refer to the college you attended
found a C
Off for the day. Ty all for clues
this isn't orderly chaos anymore, it's just chaos
what have you got left? 1-3-2-0-1 E A CC T PP
i went to the list as i got tired of the chaos
I reckon I'm heading there too
my 4 was a C I should have seen
luckily I monkeyed the P8 on first try after listing. of course there's no def.
it means "talking" in Italian so I'm going to assume it's a musical term
ah, I bet so, thanks
talking as in "talking squirrel"
not splooting
ok, I'm done. the E and the T were words that I always miss.
time for lunch. good luck, all.
thanks for the p8
hi everyone - sitting here with one eye on the TV waiting to see if my neighbourhood will be put on evactuation notice. Fires are burning all around us, so don't know where we could go. Looks like all highways heading north and east are closed in places.
oh no nan, that's terrifying
i'm so sorry, nan.
oh nan, I'm sorry. good luck. I hope for the best.
Nan, what is your plan?
load up the car and get out of Dodge!
Do you have somewhere in mind to go? Someone to stay with?
will go to the kids in Vancouver if the highway is open
Arrghh. It doesn't recognize Brooklyn accents. Didn't take "terlet."
Is there a clue for the pa 8 please?
pa8 golf term + the last 5 of a former player who was friends with Haz
Ha that works. Thank you Molly
I'm down to just the at8. Clues welcome!
Molly
Sending you good vibes, Nan!
dauber - it's like a weird plural of a city in Georgia
at8 almost all of not Pacific then add a double letter plural
Oh, geeze -- didn't see that post. Yeah, nan, I hope things get better in your area and that you're able to be OK.
Oh, duh...yeah, I should have caught that....seems so obvious now. Thanks, freep and molly!
thanks, freep
Now that I have FW, time to move on to Lewdle. :)
The whole "games that end in dle" thing has gotten absurd.
absurdle
ty for the at 8. Have phone calls coming in from friends around the province asking how I am and inviting me to stay with them. So no worries there.
Good Nan. I'm glad you have a kind circle around you. Hope you and your home stay intact.
turns out at8 is the greek plural of a book of maps.
GOT the first part of pa 8 but dont remember the friends of Haz. Anymore help for the last five?
good grief got it
sort of like a major Georgia city Nancy
thanks Nan, got it right after I asked for the clue
As usual
hey nan! so glad to hear you are OK!
The big wigs are talking about a Provincial Emergency now
How are things where you are Saan?
glad you're safe Nan... what a relief
Dry as a bone. All of us are anxious. There are also several arsonists on the lower Island, if you can believe that. If a fire happened in the woods where I live, my exit is the water. And to top it off, my well is dry. But this is all just a whine compared to what the Territories and the Interior are going through.
I just heard that Kelowna has declared a state of emergency - and that fire has jumped a lake in the area (didn't catch the details, unfortunately)
How worrying for you Nan. I’m glad that you have loads of support. Please stay safe. You too Saan. Praying for my lovely Canadian friends.
thank you Soodle. Let's hope the rains come soon. I was so worried about nan and it's so good to hear she is safe.
Gillie, the lake is huge, it is 84 miles long and about 5 kms wide so that is quite a wind they had that would blow embers over that would start more major fires
egads, some wind indeed!
and I know all of Yellowknife was evacuated due to fire there. :/
phantom raclette, alas
you could say a fondu farewell to the cheese word DC
indeed, so ru :)
Yellowknife is in the North West Territories, over Alberta, on Great Slave Lake
groan, ru
sorry .. I can be a muenster sometimes
yes you are the Cheesen One
after a while my puns tend to gruyere on you
wow that was a grate one!
hi anyone who is out there
hi mool
hey ru, happy friday
no kidding.. I'm more than ready for a weekend
me too
I guess it's too late to swiss into the pun chat now, how now brown cow
oh ?my gosh - a hurricane in California? What next?
never too late Molly
that's the problem with punning here you never know where they're coming fromage
The hurricane is expected to weaken before it reaches California
that was a gouda pun molly
r
down to 8 -- all that I'm going to get today. bye all
hi all. help with lone A please
al 4
ty pen
yw...
I guess it's not certain that fire actually jumped Okanagan lake - the blaze on the east side may have started independently
Gillie et al, praying for all of you.
I'm in Calgary, actually, well away from the fires (although we are expecting smoke). Cybernan is closer to the thick of it, and I'd just been listening to the radio reports.
But thank you anyway! I'm sending best wishes to cybernan.
can't find my last word....en 6 anyone?
en + Christmas paper?
envelop is a synonym
ty both...i am done....
congrats!
ty....heading out....goodnight all...
PA 6/24 PLS
NM...GOOD NIGHT.
