8:21 am

Speaking of bridges, man did we have a massive bridge accident here in Maryland.

8:30 am

I saw that, Molly. Crazy

8:36 am

just awful!

8:37 am

Of course, the conspiracy theorists are already saying it was intentional.

8:38 am

i saw a vid where the caption said "power goes out on cargo ship" and then the crash, and yeah, you could see the lights of the ship all go completely off, come back after a bit, go off again... so i think that might be correct

8:39 am

ergo not intentional

8:39 am

Blessings to all the search and rescue people looking for survivors

8:40 am

amen

8:50 am

first row lulled me into a false sense of easiness

9:23 am

The video I saw of the bridge collapse, the power goes out on the ship after it hits the bridge.

9:27 am

phantom spasm

9:36 am

I have just watched 2 videos of the bridge accident. It seems intentional.

9:37 am

Finding the right place to go under a bridge seems basic.

Special agent Bill DelBagno of the FBI's Baltimore field office confirms there is "no credible information" that terrorism could be behind the bridge collapse.

I tend to go with the theory is to not assume malice where simple negligence (or stupidity) can account for it

9:53 am

That's good. So did the power loss on the ship prevent the ship from steering properly?

Ships take a LONG time to change course (especially ones of that size)

And apparently, they did send out a mayday before hitting the bridge (the authorities think that actually saved lives, as the bridge was partly cleared)

9:54 am

I read that.

"Governor Moore says the ship was moving towards the bridge at a "very rapid speed". He said the cargo ship's operators called a "mayday' - an emergency signal - but the vessel's speed appeared to be too fast to avoid the incident. However, he said the distress call did ensure more cars were stopped from crossing the bridge, averting greater disaster."

I get that people are these days always nervous when something like this happens, but I'd be very reluctant to assume negative intent until and unless evidence comes to light supporting that

9:55 am

I am catching up with videos now.

I've steered a small boat (briefly) - they really react to changes in rudders VERY slowly - and the bigger the boat, the harder it is to course correct

10:17 am

I have to wonder why a cargo ship that big was moving into a harbor with a bridge at a "very rapid speed"

10:18 am

Also, the company that owns the ship has a record of dangerous incidents.

10:19 am

Were tug boats pulling the Dali?

10:19 am

matty - I watched a show about the narrowboats in english canals. those are crazy. I had no idea they existed.

10:20 am
