me 7
Hmm - seems me7 is the plural of a word that isn't allowed for some reason
There are two me7s, Gillie. And the one you mention I suspect is a weird variation on a me6 that is in the grid.
oops. never mind on the two
Wikipedia thinks it's a plural
just the one. I was thinking it had accepted mine but I had typoed into something that WAS accepted!
It probably is a plural but related to the me6
of course, it's late for me, so nothing I say can be trusted :-)
No - plural of a word without the final letter (but related to the me6)
Enable strikes again
actually, the me6 is basically the same thing, it seems
Yeah, Enable is weird
pa7 hasn't been called, I think
Anyway, I should pack it in. G'night freep
G'night
po6.24 - weirdly having for dinner tonight
if anyone's in the chat, could I get a clue for the lo8?
One who hangs around places
jeerer
Sorry!
thank you!
surely if you can preempt you can also empt!!!
Agreed.
Deeha, I just finished Rhys Bowen's book,In Farleigh Field, with much of the story in Kent.
whereabouts in Kent was it?
Sevenoaks and around there. The estate was the Westerham family. WW2 historical fiction.
One character worked in Bletchley Park. One worked for MI5.
Sounds the sort of book I'd read. Alho I didnt really know hat area, I was on the coast. My daughter did get married in Westerham Church tho'!
The book I read before this one was The Rose Code by Kate Quinn, focused on Bletchley Park decoders in WW2.
I'm just having a craze on Elizabeth Chadwick who write about 11/12th century. Obviously fictionalised but about the lives of real people who lived then
Rs Ransacked!
Ns Nailed!
I will check those out, Deeha. TY.
Go Hurshy, go.
how's everyone :)
top row grey!
If I remember right they only broke the enigma code because the Germans accidentally dropped an enigma machine into the soft mud of the Thames! Ooops!!
Gaining full consciousness here.
people
yeah slowly working on that myself, scrabs
ooooh blast!!! sorry
The Bletchley Park decoders worked so hard to decode many messages in other languages.
i don't see anything about dropping in the thames https://tinyurl.com/yk8jmucj
but it does mention the eventual capture of one from a U-boat
I need to watch the Alan Turing movie.
it was good
as was the show Bletchley Park
what a terrible way to treat a genius or indeed aanybody
A BP show?
"thanks for saving us from Hitler! oh wait, you're gay! chemical castration for you!"
Hurshy gets a gold star for using tinyurl.com and not blowing up the chat. â

phantom: epitome
remember when you were a kid and you thought it was pronouned "ep-i-tome"
phantoms: eterne, etoile
It would be great if there were a bulletin board for this place where we could put the tiny url link, the Lickety Expert Link, notes about if Lickety's list has an extra word or why Lickety's list is down.
Some words trip us up. Mine are: awry (aw-ree), misled (mizzled), and innovative (in-NAHV-itive.)
yeah but those ones with greek roots especially, i mean, they don't follow the usual patterns of english pronunciation... names like penelope, hermione, persephone are just like epitome in that regard
my phantoms are dementia and epoi. don't know what that says about me
Hi jbp
i've got two of the right side E but can't find either third row E
hi, Scrabbs
Then there are the often mispronounced sherbert and February
