Clues are up
thanks, lickety!
morning babblers. THanks Lickety
cooee and g'day from me. * hugs * sprite.
*hugs ro4* Hello darling, how are you?
taking it very easy today. didn't overdo it yesterday i promise. just slowly going downhill. but hey! 8 days to go. i think i'm doing rather well.
as long as you took good care of yourself yesterday, you have no problem with me. Yes, counting down, darling. You ARE doing great this time around.
and you dear friend? how are you traveling? any more thunder storms coming?
the weather is more or less stable, as far as thunderstorms go. I am slowly coming back from the days of moving stuff. Takes some time to recover. We are very happy with the new situation though.
i have just bought tickets to Sleeping Beauty, the ballet. Taking young Claudia with me. not until next January though. but i have got in early and have some very good seats.
oh that is awesome! In itself, and even more so getting to share it with Claudia and seeing it through her eyes as well.
yes. those pics you sent look wonderful. such a lovely area for you to work/play in.
we are making the kitchen our own now too, slowly but surely. So lovely to have everything at hand, on the same floor.
lol... she wasn't to sure at first until i explained it WASN'T a pantomime, but live ballet. the music by tchaikovsky is glorious.
she will love it. It is such an experience. Tchaikovsky is always a treat and combined with ballet and a story that she knows, it will be magic.
would you believe she is nearly 16? i can't believe it. she now does lyrical dance. my son said he had tears in his eyes as he watched her performing. she is so graceful. lol... at least she got one good gene from her grandmother.
that girl has no business being 16 already!
how are Caya and Juno settling in?
waaahh, i remember being 16. it's so scary when your grand-daughter gets to an age which you remember.
between the two of them, all is amazing. Slight hiccup though with Juno's sister not doing well atm. She is very depressed, has been for a long time but hid it too well. So she has been staying with Caya and Juno a lot, even though she had moved out.
* sigh * that's hard especially when they have their own issues to sift through. how old is the sister?
I just ordered yarn for a blanket for her. Caya told me she was sitting on the couch with one of my blankets in her lap, holding on to it for dear life. Caya is lending her hers. But I think she needs her own :)
she is very young still. Just 19.
what a lovely thing to do for her sprite.
yeah it is hard, for herself and also for Caya and Juno, who were just for the very first time in their relationship living with just the two of them.
* giggle * 19.... remember when we thought how sophisticated we were at that age.
will put the squirrel blanket on hold for a while, until the one for Lauryn is done.
omg yes. I know it ALL.
actually, at that age I was very depressed too and not only did I know it all, I was also certain I was more or less done with life.
that's so sad darling. i remember you telling me about your teens. but you know what? you are out on the other side now. stronger, better, and really do know everything now.
lol, I only know how little I know, nowadays. But yes, stronger, better and way way happier than ever before, honey. I am blessed. And so very grateful.
i was fortunate. i had got out of my mother's clutches by then, and very happy with my training and new circle of friends.
it was good to get away from our abusive parents, for sure.
i was just thinking. could you handle Lauryn on your own?
how do you mean?
well, if she were to come and visit with you instead of Caya and Juno, maybe you could give them some time to themselves.
not saying every day, but two days, maybe per week when Caya would know it was just going to be them alone.
I would in a heartbeat. But Lauryn really needs her big sister right now. The goal is to get her settled again in her own place, Juno is going with her this weekend. And Caya and Juno talked it through. Juno will support Lauryn through this, and Caya will support Juno. And of course, we will support Caya and Juno, and let Lauryn know that we are always here for her.
if she is going to stay with Caya and Juno for longer, I will certainly suggest that, hon. Good thinking.
such a weight for young shoulders to carry. i just want to grab all of them in a huge hug.
ikr? I so so want for Caya and Juno to be able to experience 'normal' for a bit. But it seems it is not yet to be.
have you managed to talk to Caya and Juno about the new findings on FM? for me it's such a load off my mind. i truly thought i was doing this to myself.
oh yes, I gave them all the info and they immediately started studying it themselves and they are gonna talk it over with their specialists. I thought I'd told you so, sorry.
with you behind them, they are sure to be okay. i love the relationship you have with Caya, and Juno of course.
I am so so blessed. Our immediate family, both blood and bonus, are amazing. And they all get along together splendidly too.
we need to spread the news. this break-through means they are on the way to an actual cure for this wretched disease, and it is a disease.
I so want to visit all those doctors who said it was 'just between our ears' and tell them: yeah, just like your rotten blindness and stubbornness.
oh, do you remember the elderly lady who used to live next door? Shirley/Lee. she had a lovely pic of Christ holding a lamb in her room. and one day it just disappeared. she was devastated.
omg! That is awful. I am so sorry.
well we went on line and found a rather lovely picture which Don downloaded, adjusted in brightness etc, printed it out, and we put it in a pretty frame. gave it to her yesterday. she couldn't take her eyes off it.
:D I love you guys.
after communion every week as she walks back to her seat/pew she stops by me and gives me a lovely hug. last week i wept as i realised that my own mother never hugged me like that.
my Dad did. as he did with all of us. but Mum...nope, not in my memory.
as Richard Bach so beautifully writes: The bond that links your true family is not one of blood, but of respect and joy in each other's life. Rarely do members of one family grow up under the same roof.
must check this bloke out. sounds like he talked a lot of sense.
you are part of my family. We may have been dealt a tough deal with the family we were born in, but we sure are blessed in getting to choose our own family and making it work in our own lives.
oh I highly recommend him. He writes amazing novels. Very spiritual, very wise, but also fun.
as you are part of mine. and Kiwi, and Kam, oh and puglet. all of us have that common bond. either abusive parents or lack of them.
His most famous book is Jonathan Livingston Seagull. But you will also enjoy "Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah " and One.
oh, i have that book, and the record of Neal Diamond's music written for the film.
yes! Such music, and such lyrics! One of my all time favorites.
the film is beautiful too, tbh.
thanks for the heads up. will look for him later.
let me know how you get on. Would love to talk about the books with you.
oh the film...i cried with joy and love watching it.
same
just sayin'... if enable thinks that reerr and reerred are not words, they never knew me.
there is a series we have been watching called The Chosen. it is financially supported by people from all walks of life. you can donate on-line which we have several times. it is the story of Christ from birth to the end and beyond. part is played by an egyptian man. they have very cleverly fleshed out all the people written about in the bible, including the romans. also the culture of the times . we are waiting for the final episodes to come out now.
sounds very interesting
ah, classic Christian apologetics, if well executed it sounds.
fireflies
hello sprite and rose
hiya seain
anyway, that was the long way of me telling you that i have bought a book written about the first series. i'm so looking forward to reading it.
WTG SPRITE !!
yay sprite

brand new prescription with green lenses and silver mirror
be well, sprite
* hugs * dearest. enjoy your day.
beautiful man, seain ;)
oh are these the ones you were telling us about? they look wonderful.
the ones I ordered last week. Maui Jim brand, style is Southern Cross, in grey with green lenses.
suit your face nicely.
chosen for practicality. Nice wrap, firm on my head.
thank you.
my new daily wear glasses are blue, and should be in next week sometime.
wow! you'll have to take another pic for us.
The style name makes me uncomfortable, knowing the history of the Southern Cross, and being from the region of Virginia where it originated.
OTOH, it could be referring to the constellation.
i have splashed out and bought tickets for myself and my grand-daughter to see Sleeping Beauty, the ballet. not until January, but as a patron of the Australian Ballet, i was offered an early bird deal which i snatched up as quick as i could. lol
oh, lovely!
I bought tix to see Dr Glaucomflecken and his wife live here in DC in early October.
i haven't been able to go at all this year as the usual theatre is being renovated, badly needed. and the theatre the company have moved to is not very accessible for anyone using walking aids or wheelchair.
yes, we have a mix of accessible and not so much in the theaters here too.
seeing as most of our performing arts theatre were built back when Methuselah was a pup, access wasn't a high priority.
exactly
are you okay explaining to me the story behind The Southern Cross? i only know it as the constellation.
some of our oldest have been redone to modern accessibility standards.
sure
the southern cross here in the US started as the Battle Flag of the Army of Northern Virginia: thirteen white stars in a blue saltire, bounded by white, on a red banner.
it was coôpted in the early 20th century by racists in the SE US.
there are folks that know it as the only Confederate flag, but it was never an official flag of the Confederate States of America, only the Battle Flagg of the Army of Northern Virginia.
so today, racists fly it.
I am aware of the constellation, as I did mention earlier.
And applying Accham's Razor, the constellation feels more likely as the inspiration.
but my gut reaction as the US Civil War, and racist implications to the phrase, due to the culture I grew up in.
so typically a once again simple flag(or symbol) of an army ( movement, culture) has, as you say been coopted for a more sinister thing.
exactly, much as the Swastika was.
the Navajo people dropped the symbol due to their service in WWII in Europe. They are American Indians in the SW US.
that makes me very cross. why can't they design their own symbol?
I hear you, deeply.
over here we have had a cheese made for as long as i remember, named Coon, for the family who established the company. but now, because it is an offensive term to some people they have had to change it. same with the labelling of cow's milk as white. * rolls eyes * for goodness sake IT IS WHITE!!
cow's milk is white, indeed.
it's just to extreme for me.
and coon is both short for raccoon here, and an offensive word to refer to people of color.
sorry... too.....
exactly. i only ever heard it used in the context of the cheese and the animal... never used it as a racial slur in my life, and don't intend to do so.
that makes sense for where you live.
I grew up attending school in a period where Virginia built integrated schools with serrated facilities in them.
we were taught why some of the water fountains were chilled, and others were not.
and why there were two gyms, with ridiculously large locker rooms.
i don't understand why people have to be so judgemental and nasty. to me we are all one. * giggle * my mother would probably spin in her grave if she knew that part of our family ancestry is full blood indonesian, jewish gypsies, plus a whole lot of other cultures. she tried to tell us we were proper little english kids... lol...
my Dad had no time for racism at all and that is how he brought us up. we are no better or worse than anyone else on the planet, including royalty.

that was shot from New Zealand
that link is to the NASA Astronomy Picture of the Day.
oh my. how mind blowing.
indeed!
love the arc of the launch of the rocket. incredible. now i feel very minuscule indeed. lol
have to ask you... how on earth do you survive on so little sleep?
I get 7-9h most nights
the universe does have a way of making us feel small
but, but, but.... isn't just after 3am there?
it is. I'm 1h ahead of grid time (UTC-4)
I got home about 00:30, chatted with neighbor til 01:15, brought stuff in from porch and car, fed cats, oh, should go take meds, brb
* scratches head * so you are able to sleep later into the day?

my mother's mother also slept like that.
so did my mother through a goodly chunk of her life.
though the cat wants me to sleep
video has 9min to go though.
i understand now. i have to be awake and eaten by 8am for my meds.
mine are taken at night, if hours late tonight.

:)
and night FRiday-Saturday I have a LONG history of up very late. We used to go to dinner after it, around 1AM
i am controlled by the frequency of my analgesia which is taken three times per day. i have to try and fit them in with enough hours in between.
oh, yes, when I'm on a 3x/day drug, I do 07/15/23 or 08/16/00 like clockwork.
mate, time for me to love and leave you. hope you have a good rest this night. mayhap catch you tomorrow after flip. xox
