no. Grew up in Alexandria and Dale City, VA outside of Washington, DC. Visted family often in Montreal. Turned 14 in Madrid, and 24 in Boston, but other than that have been in Washington, DC or Northern Virginia. I've gotten that question a lot through my life, not least as to why I speak Spanish.
Actually, I was wondering because Molly didn't believe you could have been returning to school in July or August as a child unless you lived outside the U.S.
we had year-round school when I was in K-4, three-quarters of students started on 5 July, the other quarter, which I was part of, started around the 24th of July, and when we switched to standard calendar, we went mid-August to very early June. I went to school in Prince William County, VA for K-8, and attended high school in Fairfax County Virginia.

It's common from the DC are and south to start in August, in part to get kids into AC during the hottest part of Summer. Historically that was why.
