apart from almost no sleep, I am okay. And Rob has an appointment with the gp on tuesday, before going to england, so I am happy with that.

I'm tired - had doc appt yesterday and vet appt an hour away today. The dog is doing ok, and the thyroid meds seem to be helping.

His skin is super dry, and they want me to give him 2 or 3 baths a week! I can't pick up an 80 pound dog!

I'm taking most of tomorrow off. Someone is supposed to come replace my old thermostat, but that's it. Plus some laundry.
If I had a walk-in shower, maybe, but my shower is over a bathtub!

I haven't come up with any ideas to give him so many baths! I don't have anywhere to hook a hose to hot water.
one of the reasons I have insisted on a small dog. Cannot lift bigger ones, and if they pull they pull me down with them.
I had no idea this dog would get so big! He was the big boy of the litter, but for an English Springer Spaniel, he weighs about twice as much as a 'normal' Springer! He does have the wonderful personality though.

They want the soap to sit on his skin for 3-5 minutes. It is supposed to heat up next week, so maybe I can do it outside a couple of times. He is due to be groomed on Weds, so I'll ask his groomer for ideas. She lives nearby, so maybe she can squeeze in a wet bath only and I'll dry him.

Kam... could you massage some baby oil or something like it through the dog's coat?
i know spaniels have long hair but the oil should help the dry skin issue. it would have to be something like baby oil in case the dog licks it off.
I have a great dog skin lotion I use. They want chlorhexidine and miconazole for his armpits. Leg pits? I didn't realize how irritated that skin is because it's not somewhere I usually look.
He stays shaved most of the year because of the heat and foxtails we have during the dry season.
poor animal. it must be so uncomfortable.

I imagine with both laundry and dishwasher it depends to some extant the number of people in the household! I do not do either laundry daily, nor do I run the dishwasher daily, but I handwash good knives and cookware, and I wear things more than once before washing them (and no doubt do not wash my bedding as often as I should, but making up the bed, especially the duvet cover, is a job I loathe)
wow... I make my bed every day ...I do two loads of plates in the dishwasher.. I tend to use a lot of stuff when cooking. . I keep up with my laundry every day. call me OCD if you will

No.. i change the bedding every six days and wash the top blanket daily because my dogs sleep on the bed with me
I wash up when I cook (I often do batch cooking on weekends though, so I have food in the freezer for during the week - much less washing up that way) and as I say, I hand wash most of my cooking stuff as I go
I always do make sure all the washing up is done after I've eaten - no dirty pans waiting for me the next morning
i like things sterilized and super clean.. i'm not great at handwashing stuff

My kitchen is tiny, so doing everything as you go is the only way to go. The duvet I have on the bed at the moment is a 3 tog (lightweight) - when it gets cooler, I'll swap it for the 10 tog
I just had a big dinner party for a friend who is having hip surgery (a vegan) and her four friends (vegans) to test a bunch of meals I can cook for her while she recovers. I'm cooking for her for a couple of weeks so she can focus on recovery.
Oh, that's lovely. Five people in my kitchen would be cosy - it really is small (and I don't have a dining room)
I am not partial to handwashing dishes either. They never seem to get as clean as they do in the dishwasher.
I made 9 different vegan meals and it was a ton of work and even more clean-up
I don't typically handwash dishes (though it's been known) - more pots, pans and sharp, good knives.
