1:19 am

what a waste of a perfectly good Q

1:21 am

agreed re the wasted Q, but in many a grid, some letter(s) are unavailable.

1:21 am

and hello.

1:21 am

true. But some are more frustrating than others, lol

1:21 am

hi seain :)

1:21 am

absolutely!

1:22 am

Hi all!

1:22 am

hiya Kam :)

1:33 am

Kamanjah. You could call a mobile dog groomer in your area

1:33 am

hiya ru :)

1:33 am

I read the chat last night

1:33 am

Hi sprite

1:36 am

Hi Ru! I do have a mobile groomer. I have to talk to her to see if she can squeeze Blaze in for some wet baths. She lives nearby, so I'm hoping I can just take him over when she get home and she can spend 10 or so minutes with him and I'll take him home and dry him.

1:36 am

sounds good

1:36 am

gets home, that is.

1:37 am

That might be your answer

1:38 am

My only option, lol! I can't pick up an 80# dog! Her setup has a table that he can get on, then she raises it up and he walks across a ramp to the tub.

1:40 am

I have a hot water outlet in the garage so on a sunny day I can bathe them in the driveway

1:40 am

or you could make a ramp to your bath.

1:40 am

I don't have that. I have no way to get hot water to a hose.

1:41 am

I bought a ramp, Sprite. He won't walk on it.

1:41 am

you can train him to do so, step by step

1:41 am

You don't think I have been trying?!!

1:42 am

He refuses. He will not even set a foot on it now. I used treats to lure him up the ramp, but he just hates it.

1:43 am

Is he older?

1:43 am

finally got my last 8, te 8

1:43 am

Ya know that old saying - "you can't teach an old dog new tricks"? He's over 11 years old and doesn't feel well.

1:44 am

Yay Diz! I haven't even found an 8 or 9. I did get the 10 from Rain's hint.

1:44 am

Yes. Pointless to try. Do the mobile

1:59 am

fireflies and poofing

1:59 am

WTG Sprite!

7:23 am

hello all

7:32 am

So Lindy, have you moved?

7:33 am

we took one load of stuff to the new house and were there for a week, we're back at the michigan house and will take another load of stuff next weekend. so, partially moved.

7:34 am

Okay, that explains it. I thought you said you were in the new house and then yesterday you were packing again

7:35 am

yes. it's confusing. I just want to be done packing and get there already.

7:41 am

So you are moving yourselves? That is ambitious

7:52 am

yes, we are renting Budget trucks to move our stuff

8:14 am

any clue for the te7 and te8?

8:17 am

The te7 ends with the rectum

8:18 am

The 8 ends with robot ending

8:19 am

thank you

8:19 am

yw

howdy folks. don't like this grid either.

8:47 am

I view it as exposure to words I don't know

I don't like it when I can't even get HOET

8:57 am

'morning

9:00 am

'GOOD

bad

9:01 am

i woke up - it's a good morning :D

good point

phantom (a)piece

9:03 am

lots of phantoms in this grid to be sure

yep

9:04 am

your (and Ricky Bobby's) word is in the grid, hokie

hmm, all I can think is if ya ain't first you're last

9:05 am

it's not a grid word

not daytona

9:06 am

nope, not shake and bake, either - just one word

I just watched that not long ago. Showed the youngest this summer. He liked it, so it must hold up.

well, king richard is in the grid but is a word

9:08 am

want it?

lol, was just going to say you might have to tell me

9:08 am

noice

haha, that's so regular to me I forgot it's in that movie

9:09 am

morning all

hey hurshy

9:09 am

hi hurshy

9:09 am

phantom: piece, apiece

you don't say

9:10 am

popular one today then?

I actually don't know how many times, I just said it like 6 min ago so thought it was funny

9:11 am

haha

9:12 am

Good Morning

hey christa

and I can't even rem. if I said phantom detonate already

9:14 am

well i do need another top corner A there

I only found one

9:15 am

one's french

ah, I see one now

I always miss that, for obvi reasons

yep, that's the one

now just need one N for HOET

of course. HOET!

9:22 am

suddenly wishing pickle was spelt piccle

grayed the big T, might be my greatest accomplishment today

name that True Blood/Sookie Stackhouse character!

oh, found a c7 we don't see every day

9:31 am

easy grid

9:31 am

tons of babblets

get out

3-9-6-4-1-1-1 must be a lot of 5 babblets

9:39 am

wow, i had no idea how evil subway is

9:40 am

The sandwich subway?

9:41 am

yeah - the corporation is awful - john oliver did an exposé on how they behave toward franchisees

9:46 am

i don't eat fast food so it's not a problem for me. I just drive right by them

9:46 am

yeah i mean i don't generally either

9:46 am

and I don't doubt the corporation is Awful

9:47 am

now i'm listening to his episode about timeshares and remembering my amusing experience with one

9:48 am

I don't shop at Home Depot, I don't eat chikafila, I avoid buying brawny and other Koch paper products.

9:48 am

^5

9:48 am

I don't help or support wineries that donate to Trump and Ted Cruz. I don't support my local baseball team for the same reason, the owner is a big donor to all the right wingnuts

9:49 am

ah see i just find baseball dead boring

9:50 am

it mostly is, but gets exciting in the play-offs the quality of the games goes way up

9:51 am

it's funny, i remember knowing in my early 20s that it was a bad idea to buy timeshares but i don't remember how i knew that

9:52 am

my brother got stuck in one.. he regretted it for sure

9:52 am

Why would you do a time share when you can do VRBO's

9:52 am

well my former brother in law and his wife had one

9:53 am

and they had us accompany them on vaca a couple of times

9:53 am

i guess timeshares predate VRBO's though

9:53 am

and you know they do the thing where us, as non-owners, they would give us a free dinner if we listened to a pitch for it

9:53 am

so we're like, hell yeah, free dinner

9:54 am

that's high pressure sales though

9:54 am

cause we know they CANNOT talk us into anything

9:54 am

so early in the presentation, they say, "so, you guys make at least $40,000 a year, right?"

9:54 am

we start laughing and say "no"

9:54 am

so then their pitch pretty much fell flat after that

9:55 am

so that's the trick to not getting pulled in - just be poor as f***

9:56 am

of course, we wouldn't have gotten pulled in anyway because both my ex and i are WAY too stubborn for that.

9:57 am

well that's a good level of protectoin

9:57 am

protection that is

9:58 am

yes, stubborn resistance has always served me well

9:58 am

I'm less stubborn than I used to be.. must be an age thing

9:59 am

i don't think i've changed yet - how old are oyu?

10:00 am

that's a little personal.. but old enough to know better :D

10:01 am

older than you for sure :D

10:03 am

i think the best part is watching other people react to one's stubbornness

10:08 am

one of my favorite memories is when i was graduating HS and everyone who was in the honor society was supposed to get this gold sash to wear over our graduation gowns. but they wanted us to pay $10 for this. for some reason, other students just paid it. but me, i said, what, if i went to the olympics and won a medal, would they make me pay for it?? and refused. well at first, the adviser i think thought i would change my mind (she didn't know me). but as graduation approached she started to panic about the valedictorian not wearing the honor society sash. she actually went to my mom and asked her to get me to wear it (i would get it free). but by THEN i was like, lady, you care way too much about stupid things. this is not anywhere on the scale of problems a person should care about. so then i still wouldn't wear it just to reprove her for her wacky priorities.

10:19 am

John Oliver is so great

10:21 am

I agree, hurshy

11:12 am

John O rocks. we saw him live, and he was amazing

11:27 am

hurshy, we would have been besties in high school! You did exactly what I would have done! (And did, in other ways.)

11:32 am

As a Sophomore in Biology class at a tiny rural school, I was told I was REQUIRED to participate in the extracurricular science fair, even though it had nothing to do with my grade. I decided to do my project on venereal disease just on principle. My teacher sent me to the Principal, who sent me to the school board, who reluctantly gave permission. (Of course, by the time the science fair came, I had learned so much I was on a mission to educate my peers.) Another time I went back to the school board to get the dress code changed so girls could wear pants. lolol!

11:38 am

rehi, only found 5 words on my return. 1-6-5-4-1-1-1 A E PPPPP D E C E LLLL AA NN

11:39 am

Thought of something. I went to college from 64 -68. Women couldn't wear pants until this giant snowstorm. Finally we were free!

11:39 am

And the women [not me] wore girdles

11:40 am

I have all the L's but am missing 4 Ts from the upper T

11:40 am

Also, not sure what the 8/9/10s might be... anyone able to provide first 2 letters for those?

11:41 am

ap9.72

11:41 am

pe10.98

11:41 am

well, that explains why I can't find that A

11:42 am

bichon, yes! Girls were required to wear heels and a dress/skirt even in snowy winters. I wanted to be an astronaut but women were not allowed then, like many other professions. There were clubs and colleges I was not allowed in. It made no sense to me.

11:42 am

got the pe10... I had been 1 letter away from that before

11:42 am

thanks!

11:43 am

will take a hint for either of those

11:43 am

me too, hokie.

11:44 am

an after hours toenail polish

11:44 am

ap9 ends with not early

11:45 am

They are all botanical words.

11:46 am

Thanks nrkii and Bea. I'm thinking ...

11:51 am

thanks, got it

11:53 am

does the pe10 start with the flower part?

11:55 am

if you mean the stalk (either spelling), almost, but changes after third-last letter

11:56 am

I meant the he loves me, he loves me not part

11:56 am

not sure what the stalk is

11:57 am

there are two pe7 that refer to stalks or stalk-like appendages in botany or zoology

11:58 am

neither of them common words

11:59 am

hmm, gonna have to look those up

11:59 am

starting with abbreviation for foot care

12:02 pm
