the trouble is that he is such a good actor. i really don't know how sick he is. except he outdoes me when it comes to coughing. that is done with perfection. sounds like he's coughing up a lung.

there has to be a way i can deal with this without raising his temper. i know he is sick, but he has forgotten i am already dealing with FM.

anyway, you were saying you had a good night without Rob's sleep apnea disturbing you. all the more reason for him to be tested and be put onto a CPAP.
he has already made an appointment with the specialist. The waiting lists are always disappointing, but at least he put things into motion right away.
the question is how will you be with the sound of the CPAP running in close proximity to you?
does he sleep with his mouth open? perhaps try a chin strap for now, see if it helps?
I don't know yet. If it can become white noise, I might be okay with it. If not, I will need to wear earplugs and hope that will quiet it down enough. We will make it work somehow.
it's just a soft whooshing noise as the air is pushed through the hose. the motor itself isn't very loud at all.
sounds like I might be able to tune that out, after getting used to it. I can tune out the ventilator.
anyway, if it means he is breathing, I can manage my getting used to the noise. It beats lying awake, debating whether to push him in order to get him breathing again, or letting him sleep.
just asked Don. I have a fan blowing on me presently. it is set at 4, quite a low speed. he says the CPAP make less noise than that.
in that case, I will be fine.
and as for pushing him? don't worry, he will resettle quickly without fully waking.
I have tried that, but he tends to wake up enough to be disturbed by it. And I would have to do it so many times a night. At least one of us is getting some sleep now. Just a little while longer until he sees the specialist!
do try the chinstrap though. it won't stop the apnea, but it might lessen the noise as he moves into an episode.
