No problem
morning all
hi kiani
def thought it was Thurs today. le sad
ah well
soon
I get to play around with some genAI testing today - looking forward to it!
oh?
create prompts to give to the AI and shape the desired outcome - teaching it what the prompts mean and making sure it can answer it correctly.
I am not a big fan of artificial intelligence
in general, or more specifically to the large language models that have been in the spotlight recently (like Copilot and such)?
Anything that gets in the way of real people having jobs
that's fair
FWIW, the stuff I'm working on is to help make my EHR smarter so clinicians don't have to spend so much time in the system, or when they do, to make it easier for them
and EHR is...?
electronic health record - the computer systems that hospitals and dr offices use
sometimes also called EMR = electronic medical record
it sounds like an interesting bit of testing
hopefully so!
And the entire field of electronic health records and voice recognition note taking put medical transcriptionists out of work. It is a snowball effect with artificial intelligence.
I'm not discounting your point Molly. But there have been some really good improvements made to healthcare because of EHRs, like reducing the potential for human error
they said similar things when PCs came in - and look at us all now
no system is perfect - that's why I have a job, after all, as a software designer and tester
I never thought I'd be working in something even related to health care. I have an English degree and still want to be a published author of fantasy fiction someday. But I'm glad I have this job; I've learned a lot and I know my work is making a positive difference in the care of others. -
No matter what we do, nothing will be perfect, but if we can strive to do the best we can, I think we can still make things better. And there is potential for new/different jobs for people than what they had before (again, using myself as an example). But I do recognize that change is hard and not everyone gets the same opportunities when that change happens.
(I'd also like to point out that I am not always in love with my job... it's definitely still a job that has things I don't enjoy doing! :D)
I'm glad you have a job that gives you the satisfaction of helping others.
and fireworks for me
sorry if I killed the chat...
now thats satisfaction! congrats
I think we all take turns with that, kiani
hello
I'm sure I won't have time to play tomorrow.. back in a couple days or so
have fun!
bye!
one of my favorite words is in the grid today: me6/24
bye lindy!
Ethnic slur alert- and on the eve of a Holy Day.
I know, I hate even typing it out
what's the Holy Day? and REHI everyone. Internet just came back.
hey hokie
Been thinking of you, Carla.
Rosh Ha Shnaah- the beginning of the year, leading into Yom Kippur, a most solemn day of fasting and repenting.
It's a lot more important than Chanukah. It's up there with Ramadan. We have a lot of holy days, but these are the most important to most people.
Especially after October 7, there is a lot of grieving to do.
we definitely got super lucky based on everywhere near us
The damage in WNC is heartbreaking.
yeah, it's crazy
also E TN
What a year.
I agree, Kap.

cannot get to my mom tomorrow for her birthday. hopefully one of my brothers will facetime me
Opps sorry
I'm sorry about that, Carla.
How is your Mom doing Carla?
Why am I not surprised that me6/24 is one of mael's favorite words?
cause you know me :)
Floods and fires, rancid politics, brutal wars...and yet we wish for a sweet new year, and are grateful to have lived to this day. Cognitive dissonance.
well, apparently she has shingles but told my brother last Wed that it wasn't too bad. she's pretty much bedridden and can't use her right hand so struggles to feed herself with the left.
that's awful
That is tough Carla. Does she have good care?
I think they are pretty good
this is a lot of T words
we drove up to hendersonville yesterday for some groceries. whole shopping centers we go to were flooded.
:(
Did you get electricity back?
Hendersonville NC? That is near where my sister lives. I thought they were still without power.
Yes. I'm about 20 min south of there, that's our normal shopping. there was one redlight out. I'm not sure who had power and who had generators. The groceries that were open had long lines out the doors as did the gas stations. Cash only everywhere.
We got electricity back on Sun night, Bea. Or was it Mon? I am losing track of the day.
jees
sorry
My niece is on her way to my sister and nephew loaded up with generators, chain saws and other supplies.
Having cash is something we don't remember to do during hurricane season. I have to get better about that. Glad you have electricity carla!
Same, champ
well, I'm glad she is getting stuff. if they don't make it, email me and I'll see what I can do.
I do have an emergency cash fund here thank goodness. Gotta rem to replenish it.
From what I have heard, if you keep cash on hand, make it tens and twenties. In shortage times, change is hard to make.
well, I did have to break 100 at the gas station and the lady said she could
ooh, gotta go. BBL
Mr. Bea is helping load trailers again today. Yesterday they had a trailer full of horse feed and one of hay heading out.
that's nice to hear that people are helping others down there...
I have read lots of great stories about people helping out. Private helicopter pilots flying supplies in, people donating supplies to trucks heading south. It's good to know that people are still genuinely good hearted.
There are so many communities that have been completely wiped out.
The pictures of Chimney Rock are heart breaking
Yes. And Biltmore Village is another.
Again, if anyone wants to help financially, donations can be made to The Red Cross
You can offer physical help here: https://www.redcross.org/volunteer/bec\nome-a-volunteer.html
Is there a tiny url for that? LMAO
morning, everyone
Hey, welki
morning, welki and all
hi, ori
redcross.org/volunteer/become-a-volunt\neer
Interesting. It won't take links at all. No matter how small they are.

Anyway, I'm glad that volunteering for The Red Cross was good for a laugh
morning all
rehi. saw more chinooks heading north.
hey hoke
my brother just told me his coworker said there are gangs of thieves roving around her (Roan Mt. TN). so dumb, I know people in the mountains have lots of guns.
hey moo
rough few days
yep, just found out some of my neighbors still don't have power or cell service. we were so lucky.
glad to know you're okay
thanks
just terrible devastation across such a large area
we've kinda gotten back to normal in our little bubble but then when you go out or see things on facebook, it's just devastating
Was it really bad in your area too?
I'm about 20 min south of Hendersonville, about 45 south of Asheville proper. We got at least 28" of rain at my house in 3 days, probably more but I didn't get my gauge emptied when it filled up. We had very high winds and many downed trees and power lines. I, and many of my neighbors, think there was possibly a tornado since clusters of trees in a straightish path were twisted off in the middle.
yikes
we have a creek in the hood that flooded and several mudslides but our house didn't have any damage or downed trees
very fortunate
great, carla
we did have a road cave in near the creek but it was only one lane, so people can still get by
Molly, I was not laughing at volunteering for the Red Cross. I was laughing at you breaking the chat, since you are always the one to remind everyone about doing that. All in good fun.
bea, our big redbud that split in half last year and we cut down the part on our roof...thought for sure the other half would come down on Fri but it's still here!
Poor tree.
too bad it didn't take out our line of huge waxleaf privets
I hate those so much
haha
need one more T for top row grey
What kind of privet?
reddit told me it was ligustrum japonicus or something
they just smell so horrible when they bloom
clue for tr 8/55 please? I'm stumped
Yes. We have it all over our yard. It really is invasive.
just pulled a peri and my monkeys found it
luv, it ends in the gerund
ooh there's a tr8??
TOP ROW GREY!!!
thanks Bea
these unfortunately look like they were planted as a privacy wall to block our neighbors
Same with ours. Mr. Bea keeps moving small ones to the edge of our property to block the trash from the neighbors.
third row grey!!!
we have something growing between them that is a long strand with thorns, almost looks like a rose, but just a single strand here and there, like 6' long.
got the other 8! Es Eliminated!
Ws Whacked!
anyone know if there are any FO words?
I didn't know there was an F
tree of them

there are two F tiles and 15 F words

I'm just on 2nd row and hadn't paid attention. I did have 3 F's on the bottom one.

I have a tr 8 but it isn't a plant
I know the vine you are talking about, Carla. We have it too.
but she WANTED damage - the waxleaf privet
do you know what it is? it doesn't have any leaves at all, just the thorns

hi all. help with em7/8 or tr8 please
I've been carried away with having internet access
is there an fi word?
still have 51 to go and can't be bothered with this any more. Getting tired of all the impossible words.

T & F to go
T TTTT SS E HH E D T F MMM WW J FFFF
the j's are all relatively easy
well, stuck again at 20
yeah, I found the J and the left E and maybe an M and F
I can guess your m's...one is a bit obscure, unless you read Asterix the Gaul, the other two are common, just not pattern type words
5-4-9-2
my last w was a slang term
found one w, a pl 3
0-0-1-0-1
found 2 bottom f's
so all the m's are ME?
oh, found an m7
ha, my bottom F was a regular word pl3
knocking them out
looking for 4s now. just found my w too.

speaking of ways to spell things
1-1-7-1 never gonna finish that without a list
actually, it appears it's scottish
what letters you got left?
you don't say
T TT SS H E D F M
yeah, but I thought it was an alternate spelling of a fey creature :)
thanks
s5 and s6 would be my guess
m6 - the asterisk the gaul reference
asterix
I do have the s5 that is of course foreign currency
h, probably the unexpected verb
en6
there's a t6 that is usually spelled differently
not engine or enmesh. already tried both those
googled asterix and not seeing an obvious answer. think I will just list.
yeah the m6 refers to what obelix delivered
hmm, is h7 regular?
ah no
it's an odd verb
ok, see that now in the wiki entry, thanks
normally thought of as a noun
we
we've def. had that before here.
the en you're kind of on the right track with the latter word, but you need to use a different 4
yeah, found it.
of course, the T babblets
and I kept trying a tr5 for that tr6 thinking I knew that was a word.
now just the h7. I assume you saying surprise verb means it is a pt of a noun but not getting anything to work.
oh, gerund. got it!
yeah, I don't like saying gerund, because it basically gives you three letters
Hi all. Any clues for the 8s? Ty
em8 is plural of em7/32 if that helps
tr8?
The ten percent donation gerund with an extra consonant
ty
Oh no, I said gerund. Shame on me.
doesn't bother me. :D
Where is that extra cons? Hmm
Got the tr 8.
Ty
aaaaaaaugh i missed one of my favorite words
