how've you been?
we have traversed our state and crossed over into NSW. on our way to see my friend in Queensland. her health isn't the best, and it is her birthday on Thursday. 6 hours in the car. the same for the next 2 days. i ache in every pore of my body, and then some.
I knew that was coming and I know how incredibly taxing it is to be in a car for a long time. I am NOT envying you.

Don has been ever so attentive and careful, but the roads are atrocious. they have had bad floods recently, and only patched the road. i felt every pot hole, and every hump in the road.
we are okay. We have had a meeting with Caya and Juno and have decided Rob and I are actively gonna look for a home in the area of Arnhem, starting now. Juno is doing pretty good, most days they can walk Lewi with the electrical wheelchair. Caya is taking Lewi to school on Monday, building up to a full day. That means we are no longer needed on a continuous basis.
Rose, that sounds like torture. You must love your friend very much! I got my acre mowed and weed-whacked today, so I'm happy. We've had nearly 4" of rain in the past week and more is coming. The yard is ready for it.

Well, I didn't do it, my hired guy did it. He's great. He and his wife just moved into the area this year and they are wonderfully kind people.
the problem with car rides is, that the motion of the car relaxes the muscles. Then with every bump or turn, all of a sudden you need those muscles and they cannot come to the rescue in time.
Kam, you are still doing it. It takes you to plan it and make use of those lovely people and be willing to accept help.
Kam, we go way back to our training days. over 50 years of friendship. she is the friend i flew up to be with when she had to have her breast removed b/c of the big C. her wound became infected, and i went up there to nurse her at home. managed to get rid of infection, and get wound to the point of almost completely healed before i came home. lol... the docs were astounded. they really thought they would have to skin graft. i said not on your nelly.
god I love you so much, hun. That is awesome.

yujp. but now i have worked out a way for me to get around the airports without a wheelchair. if the airline will stow my walker in one of the overhead lockers for me. it folds up to not much bigger than a carry-on bag.
I still miss road trips with Michael. I don't like to drive. The Subaru Outback he got me for my birthday years ago is still going strong and is a comfortable ride. I got broadsided and it saved my life. The insurance company should have totaled it because with the rental car and repair time, they paid way more than it was worth.

I have to go through the ordeal of getting "Real ID" here. I have to bring my birth cert, my divorce papers and I don't know what else they want to prove my name is my name. I can't fly until I take care of that mess.
kam, it's marvelous that you can still drive. i cannot as the pinched nerve in my right knee does not allow me to do an emergency brake, and sustain it. so i handed in my licence. plus the fact i am taking drugs which slow my reflexex. not a good combo.
here in the netherlands we don't have those kind of distances. Here, if you really want to go crazy, you could go from Groningen to Maastricht, which is 336 km and will take about 4 hours.

I only drive to "town" which is 7.5 miles away. I hate having to go to another town, the next one is 18 miles, and then about 35 to the other two towns that have larger stores. I order online a lot!
i still giggle about when the GPS took us down a footpath, and your in the front seat saying..er, Don, there's only half an inch on this side.

GPS did that to me once. I was on my way to a concert where I was a performer. I ended up on a tiny dirt road and barely made it there in time.
mind you, I had said eary on that footpath that it looked like a footpath to me, and maybe we shouldn't drive into it... and Don waving that aside... so he couldn't in good conscience let fly with the anger :D

Our govenment is now in the process of eliminating inter-provincial trade barriers and are currently negotiating free trade deals with the E.U. Guess we have learned the hard way not to be too dependant on a single customer.
