Surely if you tame an animal then it goes wild again you can retame it?
we can. Enable can't. Stupid enable.
fi4flies and poofing.
Predicts that the bottom e will be the most asked for word today
really? huh
I actually saw it right away, that hardly happens for lone vowel words :)
Well, except for the Babble savants
me too.. but can't see a missing e from the second row
I wouldn't call myself a babble savant, I am stuck on the regular Es
lol
s
Okay then. Skip what I said. I guess that E is just as obvious as the day is long.
Okay then. Skip what I said. I guess that E is just as obvious as the day is long.

happy Tuesday
name that proper noun! 90s video game
myst?
ding ding ding!!!
phantom: asylum
oh dear that's meta
depends why you're in there :)
i meant the other kind
the idea of getting asylum in the US has become a phantom
ah, well yes
what is weird too is
i remember being a kid in the 80s and people wanting to come here was considered a source of pride. there was that song... "every day around the world... they're comin' to america"
so it's not even like just older stuff like "give me your poor, your tired, your huddled masses..."
yep, well unfortunately there are a lot of people in America who feel they've been left behind, so it provides opportunity for someone like Trump to come in and blame immigrants for it
i know
ironically it was probably Reagan's deregulation that started it all
i know what the forces are that are happening but
it just makes me sad
for sure
it's sad that there is so much hate of others
yes
hate and fear...the two things that are the easiest for politicians to manipulate
and as we know “Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.â€
yeah, star wars taught us that ;)
i'm getting pretty hung up on the L here
haven't even gotten to it
well, i think it's hard
board is a bit slow overall for m
i'm doing really well with all other tiles but the L so far

5-8-6-1
2-3-9-2
that y in the middle is quite annoying
you mean finding the Y words or just having it be there in the middle
just having it
speaking of it, Ys Yanked!
although I do have one y left
my last Y was the most normal of the bunch
:)
the first y is ya5, rhymes with a type of noodle dish, do you have that one?
no, forgot that one...tx
do you have all 3 U words or all the J?
and I had the noodle dish of couse
have all the u, missing one j
i have two normal us4, what do i need?
odd ul5
oooo my favourote plant!
Thanks for that u5
wi8 you mean, ata?
yes, thanks mool
yep :D
yw
my favorite plant is probably lilac
similar colour!
In the US, that plant is considered invasive.
I have too many favorite plants
which one bea, wi, or lilacs?
wi
Here in the south, it is as bad as the kudzu.
wow!
good morning everyone :)
morning nan
hey nan
yay, found a word
Hey, nan
ah, found my last a
oho found molly gave a clue for the last J, a brand of monk
really, that's a word huh
Thought that would be a proper noun
you'd think right
(often lowercase) a crafty, intriguing, or equivocating person: so called in allusion to the methods ascribed to the order by its opponents.
chat also says there is a du7, i don't have that
L's 'liiminated
yes, have the du7
aha, got it
bottom row grey!
2-1-7-1
still need 2Ds and a W down there
4-5-5-1
did you get de4/8
and prob we6/33, molly clued that one as well, that's how i got that
ah, yeah often miss the de4/8
man, these strawberries i bought yesterday are so bland
That is why I usually don
dont buy strawberries from the store.
and I almost always miss that we6
puzzled why the de 8 american version is accepted, but not the english sp.
i don't usually have bad luck with strawberries, it's peaches that i don't bother trying
I buy peaches only in season from local farmers.
We aren't big fruit eaters here.
same here and I only buy strawberries from local farmers....been burnt too often with tasteless fruit that looks good...
would someone like to pass along the clue for the we 6 please?
nm - found it
marry + a kind of tree, but change the last letter
ty hurshy -- it wass the wi 8 that I had found not the we 6 -- have it now though
that we 6 was a new one for me
yeah i didn't remember it either
same here...
Hmm, that clue looks familiar
frite and resit are clearly words, even after alllll this time
drop a letter from one of those
not as tasty though!
wise
oops
ground glass? I guess not!
chips are much nicer
the chips are always plural, I think (actually derived from a French adjective)
your chips are our french fries or patat fritesif you are in quebec
pommes de terre frites
or just pommes frites
in Germany, I saw them listed on menus just as "pommes", and foolishly assumed that apples were a popular side dish
rehi
wouldn't pommes frites be apples? Only heard patat when we lived there, but I can see where pommes would be possible
snap gillie
"pommes de terre" are potatoes
that makes sense in europe -- the quebec dialect is more anglicised
although they call potatoes pommes de terre in quebec
pommes on its own is pretty common in Germany Belgium etc for street food
I see steak frites a lot on menus so just assumed frites was fries
got to run -- it's ladies' coffee in the zoo this am. bbl
I think pommes has become more popular - frites were so last year
ha
"frites" means "fried"
but is also used on its own in French to mean French fries
steak frites is usually medallions and definitely not fried steak
no, steak frites is basically short for steak and French fries
hi folks help with de8 please
yes, goes back to my original statement 😜
hmmm I wonder whether I'll be able to access Babble in China
when are u goig to China?
going
Yes, but "frites" for French fries comes from the French for "fried potatoes"
in 2 weeks time
wow have you been there before, I have not
once before, last year. We are running an international training course there on marine planning. This time I get to fly through Wuhan and GUanzghou (?) new places for me
we stay in Qingdao which is a huge city up near NOrth Korea
have heard hillbillies call french fries "french fried potatoes", so it all fits ðŸ˜
de8 anyone?
de8 - make less shiny
don't have
ty Ata, new word for me
bbl
wonder what my missing R is. pretty sure I've tried everything.
same place as mine
must be weird
and ramen unacceptable too. my 2 fav foods :(
yeah, I didn't even bother with ramen today because I didn't want to be rejected.
rejected by ramen is a sad place to be
well, I was missing the set very close to frites, so now just need 1 F too.
very true, atalante
DE* de + lu6
ha le7? ridiculous word
not to a stone mason
well I am not a stone mason
nor to a geologist if you want to be pedantic
and like gneiss
I had no idea geologists used them
they don't. but le5 gneiss is internationally known
Not etymologically related, I think
absolutely not. your issue is?
But I suppose geologists could sometimes find themselves needing to lift heavy rocks
yes. we do that
which is where a lewis comes in handy
nice giving away words :D
oops
so you're a geologist who specializes in marine planning?
pretty much
I did my PhD in palaeontology and Upper Devonian rocky stuff, now work internationally on regional marine planning and other fun stuff
And how do you do marine planning?
mainly currently working on creating a legislatory regime for about 60% of the sea floor
and as part of that, we look at developing marine protected areas for the high seas
So a degree in biology would be useful, it seems like
hence upcoming trip to China - teaching but also taking part in a workshop looking at MPAs for the Indian Ocean hydrothermal ridge system
unless you're primarily interesting in mining
yes. I have a BSc first class in marine biology
I had the impression that the Chinese were big on mining, not so concerned with ecosystems - but maybe that's just abroad
the chinese, as most other nations, would like to mine the deep sea. They do however also have ore environmetal info than most people too
*more!
I'd need Hurshy here to understand the significance of ey4 (not a word) for the bubonic plague
ata
oops
haha :D
i am going to mow the lawn- or try anyway. in parkaand hat and gloves. crazy

rain and cold again soon. grass is too long, first mow. iif i wait much longer i';; need a herd of cattle
you could get some belted galloways. they are gorgeous
i am partial to jerseys
they are gorgeous too
like a living milkshake machine
I want a living milkshake machine!
well you would have to add flavor, but it's so rick that's all you need
when i first moved out of college i lived near a farm of them. the chocolate milk was to die for
now we need Haz and her mint aero cheesecake
we need hax. period.
well yes. I miss her so much
your photos are gorgrous.
thank you! :D I hope people get a smile from them
i am often astounded.
yeti
well then they have done their job!
and thank you!
i am procrastinating....when i went to get the mower eas met by one pissed off squirrel. would not leave. left door open but they are looking for a nesting dite
my neighbor evicted them a wee ag and they have moved on to me
:D lawn not mowed due to squirrel
god knows what wiill be hiding in it by the time it does
raccoons and rabbits and cows
oh thee are rabbit. they live
UNDER the shed
don...'t exaggerate. a calf or two maybe
I wish I had rabbits under my shed
the groundhog moved out a few yers back
you had a groundhog? for real?
yep. awful
Not sure if I have ever bragged about the best €2,500 I ever spent. A Husqvarna robotic lawn mower. Set your timer on an app on your phone, and Mo (that’s his name) trundles around my lawns, cutting them for me. Absolute Godsend.
hi soodle!!
Atlanta!! How lovely to see you. 😊
and you! I'm spending some time in Dublin these days helping out with windfarms!
Wow. Where in Dublin?
i made it to southern europe perhaps time to hit scjotland this year
working with An Bord Pleanala off McConnell Street
please do, TO!
Ha! I used to work in An Bord Pleanals in the’80’s!
OMG REALLY
That’s The Planning Appeals Board, by way of translation…
I had no idea!
we're helping them with some of the wind farm applications
well must check on the status of the wildlife.
I workin Dublin Tuesdays & Fridays. On Abbey Street. Just around the corner from O’Connell Street. Maybe we could do lunch some time in the coming months?
did you know Eugene Nixon? he's been there for ever
oh my - that would be awesome
Nope. Like I said - I was there in the eighties. I bumped into an old colleague recently Pierce Dillon? Maybe your paths have crossed?
heard the name ... send me a quick email becky.hitchin@erm.com - will be back in Dublin shortly!
Done!!
