* hugs * sprite. How are you doing? is Rob any better?
hi sweetie, I am okay, moving through having to do too much in a gentle way where possible. Rob's foot is more or less the same.
taking care of you is taking care of Rob. well done Sprite.
I cleaned the toilet yesterday and removed Nero's doodoo from the garden. Will get the groceries today and clean the kitchen. Tomorrow I have to work a shift and I don't want to have to do much else. Rob makes onion soup for Sunday.
nice and slow, and steady. you have done well.
yeah, combined with having to do all Nero's walks by myself it requires careful handling. But I am handling it :D How are you today?
thanks for the 7's -- good night everyone
doing so well i have to keep reminding myself to take little steps. sleeping well at last.
sweet dreams nan
ah wonderful! Yes, keep taking care, you are not a spring chicken anymore. But great news.
* giggle * no, i'm an autumn chicken...
same as me. Still, autumn is my favorite season so... yeah.
it's sort of difficult to remember when i feel so good.
I know. But very important in order to keep feeling good.
am so happy I did all the floor work yesterday. Kitchen is all standing up, and groceries... ah well, that part I will skip over in my mind but at least that only requires walking a lot and lifting. Not kneeling or bending over.
the grid is close to a gerund grid. Might have a big one soon, if that continues
just remember slow and steady. prioritise what has to be done first. like cold stuff into frig/freezer. then sit and rest for five, then another few things that are going in the same direction, then rest again. like me you think you can do it all at on4. which you know is not a good idea.
welllllll that would indicate there is a place to sit in the store. There is not. Still, the slow and steady part I can and will do. I write out the shopping list in the shop order, that helps.
hmmm. i misunderstood. i thought you could just ring your order through and they would home deliver.
yeah that was my hope, but the order slots are full already. I have to go to the store, alas.
I thought that the kids would bring their own booze and that Tim and Lisa would organise the breads and cheeses etc. Caya and Juno bring dessert, but Tim and Lisa are helping a friend move on saturday and yesterday asked if I could do the shopping for them... too late to get a saturday delivery.
and of course you said of course i can.
ummmmm yeah LOL
honey, it is okay to say no, even to your own kids. did you explain about Rob? and how you are trying to it all? sometimes it is better for them to realise mum and dad aren't always 100% able to help.
i think when they do eventually find out just how hard it is for you, you will be surprised at how much they will want to step up and help. i know when i finally told my Simon, he said, shit mum! why didn't you tell me earlier?
yeah I hear you. But they already know about Rob and everything and Tim is usually the first to ease our burden, so that he asked is a sign. So yeah, I said yes.
you're a wonderful mum sprite. i guess you are right. Tim wouldn't have asked if he didn't have to do so.
I try, grin.
bbl, nature is calling
back
welcome back honey.
am in need of a hug
on it's way darling. did something awful just happen?
yeah, my bowels translate the pain and overtaxing stress into fear of dying. Or rather, the ptsd does and my bowels follow. Grrrrrrrrrrr
oh sweetie. how awful for you. * sending more cyber hugs * and an extra, to tuck in your pocket for later.
thanks honey, really needed that. I threw out my panties. Couldn't be bothered. I mean, it is horrible enough in itself, right? But the logistics to get everything clean again. Mindboggling.
so when are you thinking of going out for the groceries now? will it be a while before it is safe for you to go out?
yeah this messed up my planning too. I need to rest first, then go out for groceries as soon as possible.
would imodium help settle you?
no, that doesn't do anything. It is a fear response from the body. Or the brain. Or whatever. Okay, drama over, there are worse things in the world.
perhaps a tepid temperature drink while you rest?
yeah, have to drink plenty. The good girl stuff, no sangria. Life is so unfair, isn't it :D
wracking what's left of my brain tissue for some helpful advice. something with honey in it. even warm water and honey would help slow the peristalsis.
right now all is empty, no worries.
but you can still feel the gurgling? warm heat pack?
what I need right now is sit still with my bestie and pretend all is normal. *grin*
* sits down quietly beside Sprite * i am with you sweetheart.
*snuggles up* see, all is well in my world
we'll just sit this one out, okay? watch the world pass us by.
you got it. Feet up, no worries
oh my, found the 10!
what can we see through the window honey? tell me what it looks like please
whoa ! well done you.
I see the picnic table, the parasol and half the garden in sunlight.
ahhh, sunlight. lovely warm sunshine. and the picnic table. dry cracker for you??
noooooooo
no eaties please. Just drinkies.
*giggling* sticking to your palate. yeah, not good idea.
:D
over here i would be giving you some sort of electrolyte drink.
those are nasty.
I'm sorry you're having issues, Sprite. I hate when things like that happen. Hi Rose, it's good to hear you are feeling so well!
i have gastrolyte dissolving tablets. just sip a little at a time. the lemon ones aren't too bad.
hiya Kam :) *hugs*
* hugs * kam!! hi honey.
I usually get here just as you finish the grid, Sprite. I've missed chatting with you two!
great to have you with us now, Kam
Thanks! I need to start physical therapy for my hips and back, but I haven't called back yet to make the appt. I'm always so tired that the thought of PT on top of trying to take care of daily living is difficult.
nice to see you kam.
that is such a nasty catch22. You need it and when it works, it will give you more energy. But you don't have the energy because of all the pain etc so you don't get it started.
it is tiring just thinking about it Kam. i know how hard it is to motivate oneself to do it.
It's a catch 22!
I know I have to do it, but the pain has been really bad since my last cut in meds. I want my old dose back so badly! Next time I see doc, I'm going to ask since all of these other things have gone awry.
good pain management is essential if you are to keep up with everything else. I wish more doctors realised that.
not in the USA sprite. all the docs are so touchy about addiction, and even if your doc prescribes appropriate pain meds, then the chemist/pharmicist can still refuse to fill the prescription.
wow. The docs here are very aware of addiction too and may not prescribe. But once they do, the pharmacy has to give it.
Me too. The "war on drugs" here has put so many chronic pain patients in a bad place. I'm spending way too much time in bed lately. Depression set in after my dog died. I think I should be over that by now, but I'm not. I love gardening, but haven't even been doing much of that lately because it hurts so much to bend over.
the hoops poor Kam has to jump through to get her pain meds are incredible.
The docs are afraid of the stupid government.
very nasty. And no honey, you don't 'need' to be over mourning at all. Not your beloved husband and not your beloved dog. Mourn and take your time.
I'm on half the dose I was on 7 years ago. I've gained 35 lbs and am not nearly as active as I was.
Kam, darling, there is no limits on grief. just take each day as you can. little steps honey. no high bars to jump, okay?
being in constant heavy pain is killing for your health. I totally get it that they finally realised that some painkillers are very addictive. But they should also realise that for some patients they are simply necessary.
I know there are no limits on grief. I do what I can - which is usually what HAS to be done that day. I have a tendency to procrastinate.
You are correct, Sprite. The pain is sucking the life out of me.
procrastinating and feeling depressed go hand in hand. It is normal to push things forward when you feel sad and down and in pain and tired. And at the same time, the weight of what still needs to be done is sapping your energy. It is hard to find the balance.
fireflies
and don't i know it sprite. every chronic pain patient knows about that sort of depression. and the procrastination is not new either Kam. please don't beat yourself up about it. take your time, do what you can, and when night comes look back at your day, and tell yourself how proud you are for getting even one thing done.
WTG SPRITE !!
True. I need to get my life in a better balance. Maybe the PT will help. I'm just afraid I'll wake up and not feel like driving. I needed to go to town today, but didn't feel like driving, so I have to go tomorrow. I'm out of a lot of stuff!
it is really tough to work through all that, honey. I know. Rose knows. We hold you in our thoughts and prayers and I am sending you energy. *hugs* to you both. *poof*
take a step back Kam. quietly look at what has to be done. try not to do too many things on one day. that was my downfall.
* hugs * sprite
Rose, if I overdo it one day, I'm down for at least the next two. That's one reason I've slowed down. I need to be functional at least 1/2 the time!
'grats on finishing, Sprite!
exactly Kam. it's so hard when you look at all that has to be done. i have learned to look at all my chores, and think through how i can do them sitting down. i have stools and chairs all over the house.
Good idea! There are a couple of tall stools in Michael's shop. I think I'll steal them for the laundry and kitchen. At least I've been cooking from scratch a lot more lately. I could do all the chopping and prep on a stool! I never even thought of that!
there you are! i even sit down when sorting through the dirty laundry. i have all my sprays etc in a bowl on top of my machine, i have several baskets/buckets which i sort into. so much easier than trying to do it standing. your brain can only handle so much pain messages then it goes into shutdown.
and how about a waterproof chair/stool for the shower? so much easier to sit and let the lovely warm water flow over you.
I have one. It's a big help when I need it, but I hate washing my hair using the hand-held shower nozzle. My hair is nearly to my waist.
try sitting with your back to the shower head instead of facing it. bring your hair forward to shampoo, then flip it back and let the shower rinse it.
the other plus to doing it that way is that you have a constant stream of warm water running over your sore muscles.
I do sit with my back to the shower. The hair is just a pain. I don't want to cut it because it is so curly that I would have to fix it all the time, and I do not have the energy for that! We have water pressure limitations for shower flow here. I tried to get a new showerhead with more pressure, but they aren't for sale here.
I thought it was crazy here before the current crisis. Now, ugh!
i don't envy you your position at all. my fellow australians have just voted a Labor government back in for the next 3 years. such morons! i have lived under Labor governments before and it's no picnic.
I keep wanting to enter the Star Trek bad guys, lol!
but noooo. the millenials think they know it all. * sigh * really thinking deeply about moving to europe, near Sprite. wanna come?? we can dream about it together.
I've been in my little house for 25 years. I really should be out of the country, but I do love my space. I haven't gotten my "Real ID" yet, so I can't even get on a plane. I think I have the necessary paperwork, but they will likely want more, which will be hard to chase down. What annoys me the most about this "Real ID" thing is that they already have seen all the documents for my last name changes. But I have to prove it all over again. They passed a stupid law that won't let women register to vote if their ID doesn't match their birth certificate! I don't know how that will pan out since it just passed.
that's so stupid. set your country back a few hundred years, that's for sure.
It has been wonderful chatting with you! I need to think about getting ready for bed now. Take care! *Hugs*
Kam, honey, need to go. nearly dinner time here. it's been lovely to see you and catch up. i am so sorry to see what you are going through. * hugs *
the "save" act (the voting act mentioned earlier) hasn't yet passed- it passed the house, but still needs to be heard in the senate. we'll see. :-/
And it would be smart for any woman wanting to register to vote who doesn't have the proper paperwork under the new rules to go do it now, before the act passes.
Kam--are you still on?
Good Morning to all
morning christa, all
The Pope is on social media. There seems to be something fundamentally wrong with that.

its tricky
Awful rainy day here in CT
bichon, I just remembered part of a dream I had last night. My husband told me he was taking me to an island with a beach, and I immediately envisioned a tropical paradise. Then he told me "It's in Connecticut," and I was like, WHAT?! IT'S COLD THERE! That's all I can recall. Having never been to your state, I don't know if maybe there is a large lake with an island?
afternoon Babblers!
Namaste
There are no islands in Connecticut. That's kind of funny actually.
Conn is definitely not a tropical place. And no islands. They do have a large man made lake: lake candlewood. I grew up swimming in that lake.
Oh no! There's a racial slur! Alert the racial slur police!
Huh?? Racial slur? What did i say wrong?
Raining in DC area too.
Nice day to stay in.
There are two islands in Lake Chaffee, Ashford, Conn. ;-)
Ooooh never went there. Hmm. Will google it. Ty shellbell
I am missing the o top left corner and the a bottom right corner. I welcome any help. Ty.
Oops just got bottom corner word. So only top left remains. Help welcome. Ty
Never mind. I got top corner. Sorry all.
Just moved my 92yo m-in-law from there (a little lakefront house), to live w/us here in Oregon. I know she'll miss it. But it's not raining here in OR, today!
Shellbell i bet she will love Oregon. My parents loved seattle and there are similarities between Connecticut and Oregon/wash state.
Both places are nicer than here in the DC area.
Off for a nap.
I honestly can't think of any similarities between Connecticut and those two places.
And here in the DC area is very nice.
an5 nearly uneven that by
an5 nearly the veg that brings tears
Good afternoon, Babblers. :)
afternoon
mooo
wow, just realized I said HOET earlier and only have 1 lower N.
