i got mine maianly because i like the case...lets me rotate 360 degrees, so I can angle it the way I want....
What purpose does that serve?

when you spend a lot of time on an ipad, you want it to be angled right when it sits in your lap or on a table...
so it serves three purposes....protecting the ipad, ease of use, and keyboard....i do use the keyboard for email or texting...

i never have....can't see how i would lose it unless i took it on a trip....
Only if it’s transmitting a signal. I lose my AirPods all the time and try to find them but they aren’t sending a signal so I can’t find them.
