of course every man and his dog turned out for the visit. and then came the clean-up. there was so much food to deal with. well according to one of our older ladies is always saying no-one is irreplaceable. someone will do what has to be done. and i'm like, yeah, right. where are you when the chips are down.
on the other hand, honey, you are training them that way. They know you will do the work anyway, so why would they step up?
but i have had a snooze this afternoon, with an early night planned.
it will be interesting to see who does step up if/when Don and I take a break in a few weeks. there is one lady who tries to handle things, but she isn't 100% either. fortunately one of the newer parishioners ( A MAN !! ) has stepped up and has volunteered to serve the already prepared coffee, tea etc, then clean up at the sink.
well, some progress is made then. Still, I worry that you take on too much. And as long as you do, others will gladly let you and not step up at all.
i hear you sprite. i can't help but think that because my disability isn't obvious, that a lot of people think there is nothing wrong with me. it still makes me giggle when i tell them i am taking morphine to keep mobile, and they do a double take in disbelief.

yes but it is not just that, my dear friend. It is in the human nature for most to let things be as they are, and to let others do the work as long as they aren't pressed to help. I have seen exacty that with Rob at his job. And they only started to really appreciate him when he started to say no every once in a while and was willing to let some balls drop.

mael, it's not clear that this actually is attributable to the cuts - one story i saw suggested that the forecast was still made accurately, but that local officials ignored the warnings they received. so it may just be ordinary incompetence.

I would understand if I was reading these hateful comments on reddit where people are anonymous, but these people on FB are showing their full names and faces to everyone. my kids would tell me they're all bots, and maybe they are.
Can we all just say it was a disaster of nobody's fault but ended up in a horrific tragedy for all of those people? Is it necessary to blame someone or something? These people who lost lives don't care who any voted for, they lost real families and are mourning.
It's why I keep flood insurance on my home. Never flooded (even in Harvey), but you never know. I live at 120 feet above sea level...anything can happen.
