so I've been working a couple of days on IDing all my mom's depression glass. I don't think I told this story the other night, but I might have. There were 2 things I was washing and noticed they had labels on the bottom. when I put my glasses on I could read they were Avon from 1978. the cruet stopper was missing the gasket, but the label said it'd had skin so soft in it.
the candlestick said patchwork cologne and I noticed the top moved so I pulled it off and it was still full of that cologne! The smell is finally out of my kitchen today. or my nose is blind now.
Lots of Avon bottles out there.

I had a great aunt who used to send my Avon things sometimes - I remember an awful perfume that came in a bottle shaped like a tortoise

but it was the ruby red glass that matched some of the DG she had so I assume that's why it was kept
one time I was in a wreck with my mom and an avon lady let us wait in her house. she gave me a donkey with some perfume in it. I still had that but might have tossed it when we moved here.
ps - I was standing in the front seat of the car next to her when she rear ended someone and hit my head on the dashboard. it is a wonder we made it out of the 70s.

what kind of rafting trip was it? those usually require everyone to wear life jackets.
also, plenty of people who know how to swim drown on rafting trips. foot entrapment is a thing.

foot entrapment wasn't an issue in this case, but rivers can be difficult to swim in even for people who are good at it, depending on the current
one of them thought he could swim, I guess - he jumped in to try to save his sister
that's sad but yeah, life jackets in rivers with currents
and do all your schools have pools? mine did not - only one high school in our whole sports district had one. I doubt any elementary schools do.
