i'm sure you'll figure them out without my help - or someone else can chime in when you get back. later, all

12:42 pm

oh, sorry. making lunch.

1:55 pm

Just a note: the English invented the English language. American English, Canadian English, Australian English etc are all dialects of the original language ENGLISH. And they know how to spell their own language. Just saying.

I love that you think UK english is spelled the same as it was when it was invented by them, when probably most people couldn't write or read. Just saying.

sorry, you just sound really snobby.

3:15 pm

Sorry, you sound really American i.e. arrogant. " I say UK sp are weird because nobody needs all those extra letters." Who asked you?

3:17 pm

We are all unique in our own way.

3:17 pm

Life would be boring otherwise.

3:18 pm

Though it does irk me to have to "americanize" submissions to U.S magazines or publishers. I miss the old Peguin books. :)

3:21 pm

Arbour, cheque, colour, theatre, yoghurt, doughnut--all must be changed beforehand, but hey, it keeps the ole muse grinding away.

just streamlined and more phonetic. i.e. why uk is "extra letters". and nobody needs them to say the word. arrogant or fact? a silent letter is unneccessary. hey crossy.

3:26 pm

We spell them the same way--as do our aussie cousins. :)

3:26 pm

For us it historically has a lot to do with out French Canadians.

and who asked me? it was chatting between me & atalante. who asked you?

3:27 pm

Our*

LOL, crossy I wondered if out was a french canadian spelling of our. ;)

3:28 pm

As any wordsmith knows "Engish" is a conglomoration of several languages.

3:28 pm

Lol

3:29 pm

English*

3:29 pm

Viva la differance!

have you ever read any old english? it's unrecognizable.

3:32 pm

Yes, I can read and understand back to the Black Plague years, but it is almost impossible before that for me.

3:32 pm

Reading Pepys diary was work!

3:34 pm

Samual Pepys from 1666. It is a very interesting read.

wow

3:34 pm

A firshand account of the plague is a very rare thing.

3:35 pm

Firsthand. *

I started a covid diary for a firsthand account of that but I only did a few entries. :D

3:37 pm

:)

3:38 pm

My job was deemed an "essential service" during year one of Covid, so it was a royal pain in the arse for me.

3:41 pm

Mine too, thank goodness. I'd have gone bonkers otherwise.

3:41 pm

Anti-vaxxers puking in the asiles in droves, and we had to go around with biological hazard cleaning kits because nobody wanted to stay home.

3:42 pm

None of that at my office, although I'm rarely there.

3:42 pm

I was in food dustribution and sales.

3:42 pm

Distribution*

3:42 pm

You are having a T4 trying to type today crossy!

4:00 pm

I'll try! Hagd!

4:22 pm

I wasn't aware that COVID caused vomiting. It's an upper respiratory thing.

I almost posted that as a question. I don't remember that either.

4:52 pm

I can't believe 'meme' isn't accepted by now.

4:57 pm

Now you are aware.

the enable list that this game uses hasn't been updated since the early 2000s

5:15 pm

There are a lot of people who think that the word list accepted here is updated as often as other word lists. Like the Scrabble dictionary. It isn't. Enable is archaic.

no meme, no internet, no tech

5:56 pm

but techie does count

I know

5:56 pm

the fact that it makes no sense is half the fun

no online, login

lol, good point

7:41 pm

7:42 pm

i am done...anyone need anything before I go?
