Good morning. C6/39
I'm here!
I'm here. Frustrated, but here. Where was Doogle 30 minutes ago? LOL
Bowling, if ya can believe it. Hadn't bowled in about 15 years, and actually managed a 185! My back feel's like it might give out, however. Creak, creak. :(
a6/45
E6/45.
where is brandyjack with all of our stats?? Gotten used to having them early.
clearly the dictionary doesn't do semiconductors.... no "vias"!!
No loonies either!

e5/24 Bleak grid. 5-letter words are pretty exciting at the moment!
Okay, you guys are making me feel really stupid. I can only find four- and five-letter words. AArgh!

hooray for brandyjack!
Don't feel stupid, smithchick, this is a brutal grid.
i only have 34 words and they are all 4 and 5 letters i think it might be bedtime. be back after church tomorrow unless you have any good ideas!
goodness, don't any of you ever sleep? i'm off to my pillows!
X5/28
why isnt midas a word?
it's a name
Thanks Brandyjack !!
you're quite welcome
any clues for X5?
X5/28 belonging to a non-metallic element of rare or inactive gases.
x/5 is a type of bacterial cultivation. And it can be prefixed for another type of cultivation
a6/24

thanks
c7/36
whadya mean Aveo isn't a word. I drive one...........
I think the area in which Babble has increased my vocabulary to the greatest extent is in the fairly useless area of obscure fishes.
i would hardly call the s4/8 obscure..........
The c4/9 is a bit more so. At least *I* didn't know it before. :)
you mean the type of salmon? It's one of three canned types in every supermarket here in canada. The other two are sockeye and so-called pink. the one i was thinking of is the stage between row and minnow.
c4/9 is hyperbolic, in the unexaggerated sense.
and there is another c4/9 meaning to bop him on the noggin'
Man. You guys have got canned salmon???
Canned ??? I have fresh Salmon.....
Wow. Down here I just have to use the powdered form.
our local supermarkets have improved lately. canned and frozen fillets used to be the only way. Now you can buy fresh fillet's, steaks, smoked and live trout. I know beacuse my oldest daughter in university loves the stuff and suckers me into buying it for her.
Well, of course we have fresh fish also. Smoked and salted too...
Brandyjack, you must not be on either coast? In Nova Scotia, we have fresh fish year around.
no, southern ontario for me. and anyone who eats fish out of the lakes is asking for trouble.
Where in Ontario?
Down here in Maryland we've got the northern snakehead. If you want some we'd be glad to send them crawling north.
between Toronto and Ottawa. Maybe 60 miles east of Courtice
Well, I don't know where any of you are finding these 5 and 6 letter words, I am not having any luck. Too tired maybe. I'd better head to bed soon...
the x clue... i have the first 4 letters, but the last isn't there! i'm lost. wahaa.
Brandyjack, you're not too terribly far from me. I'm in Buffalo, New York.
40 words and 440 cnt is enough for tonight. Yas, I'm at the other end of the lake on the north shore. CFB Trenton in fact.
and there is another fishy c4/7!!
m4/7 - slang for some English footballers. why's that one in the dictionary? hehehe
Wow, major improvement on the beta babble, the 'oops' message is no longer a pop up! I am pretty sure the message bug is fixed too - great work, Dr_God!
Is debs40ish here?
It won't accept CHAV ! LOL
Morning Smithchick... yes I'm here..well in body away...think my minds absent!...lol
.........or DOHS, DOH!
Morning all from cloudy England... knew the sun wouldn't last long! :)
h6/33 - like totaly gnarly dude! Any clues on the E's? I've not got a single one
I have one E4/7, a common word. Where all the rest is hiding, I do not know. :)
Hey, debs...(hope you don't mind being abbreviated). How goes it? Still only managed to find one 6-letter word. Aack!
I have an ex 4 and ex 5..... How's you Smithchick... please call me Debs...I would say call me anything most do but I'd need a clue to know it was me you were talkin to....lol
Me too... is it c6? I have the c7.....
Why isn't saddo a word!....gawd sake...
Yes, it's the c6. Don't have the seven, and I only have one e. It's an e4
There is this pretty strange O6/33. Being dutch with some latin knowledge, I thought it had to do with eggs, but it doesn't. It is something scientific.
c7 is same as c6 but with letter added... sshhhh don't tell anyone else...lol
smithchick i thought you were done for the night. ithought i was done for the night too
We lied... Why??? Because we are ridiculously obsessed. Not to mention, daft (me, anyway). I still don't see that c7.
Just put in your c6 then try adding every letter round it.... I don't know what it means.. it's latin!....Then again I don't know what half these words mean..lol
Are there two c6's? I tried every letter around the end of mine, to no avail. Mine is 6/39. A selection.
Good Morning from Surrey, England!
my bathroom is big enogh that I can co+s5/22 with someone else. too bad it's not a word!
good morning from elstree england
ginger ive only been here for 2 days..and already my partner is saying goodbye to me when i sit down..lol
Rollin... I don't have a partner to upset but the kids get a bit miffed!
aaah..mine are all grown up...and tell them im an english teacher and i say its ok..lol
Yes, there must be 2 C6's then. I have C6/24 and that one can be made into a C7. Go hunt for your C6 now!
I have 3 grown and 3 young ;) English teacher huh? What did you do to deserve that???
oh pls..dont go there...im an aussie..who came here willingly..*rolling eyes*..
Found it right away with your clue, smithchick, thanks!
avid isn't accepted!!!????!!!
You're very welcome! Now I'm on the c6 hunt.
LOL ok:)
sure it is giner - maybe you're just not determined enough about it?
Ginger, retry and check yr typing ;)
hah - then Rolin should get one of the 3 m4/6, though they were more on an island to the east.
oops, how do you spell a 4 letter word wrong??? <blushing>
ok being a newbie...have i read the guide wrongly??..there are ELEVEN words with 'x' in???
Good Afternoon from Hong Kong all. I've got V4/7 x 2 and V5/28 but can't find that last one. Anyone got it?
rolin, you have it right. The X is used 11 times, and once at the beginning of a word.
h6/33..still can't find 2nd c6 :-/
Alright, drat it, I need a clue on that blasted c6 so I can go to bed and not have to see c's in my sleep. PLease!!!
Debs, an option...
can someone tell me pls if there is a list that breaks down the each word size..or are you guys just faster than me...lol...
smithchick: colorless oily liquid, derived from eucalyptus and used in pharmaceuticals, flavoring, and perfumery
have you got the c7 smithy?
No, apparently I'm either seriously sleep-deprived, thus negatively affecting my ability to think, or I'm not nearly as clever as I thought I was.LOL
A6/45 x2
gah, it's the middle ages and the normans have no one to fight - s6/12 isn't accepted!
ermmmm... I'm tryin to think of a clue....the beginning is what people had before video cameras....
erm...are plurals allowed now?
Loads of them Ros.....
HighEnergy, I noticed that too... maybe it's classed as a real name?
WooHoo!!! I love ya, Debs! Thx to you and sprite. Now, perhaps sanity will return! I'm off to bed, back tomorrow after church (assuming I can pry my thirteen-yr.-old from his pirate game.
Cya Smithy... sweet dreams :) cya tomorrow x
how long is the X word anyone please?
5 letters gingeruk
sweet dreams, smithchick!
x/5
thanks deb
I need 2 more S's and they are driving me bananas. Tried everything I could think of. It is always those Ss with me!
Sprite, A6/45 - got one but the other one is hiding.
Dianne, they differ by only one letter.
got the x thanks deb... more from luck than knowledge though!
Does anyone have a S6? Must be there, I am missing one 5 and one 6 word... but I cannot find a 6 for the life of me. Nor a 5, actually.
s5 should be familiar to men... and women actually... daily routine
Sprite , have sh5/18, sh5/22 and so5/12, but no s6 unfortunately.
I do have that S5. Got 5/18, 5/22 and 5/12, all common enough words. I do a recount, see if it is really a 6-word I am missing... I am getting desperate enough to use the lettercount down in the log, to see which letters must be used :D
Sprite, I only have 10 S words including SH5/18, SH5/22 and SO5/12. Is that any help? Thanks for the A word hint - got it.
This is bad... if I counted right, I must use 2 more Cs, 2 more Hs and 2 more Vs. Since the S is given, there can be only one vowel in the 5. I guess that it is a combo 5-6, seeing how the missing letters come in pairs... and still I cannot find them.
Morning everyone....a slightly worse for wear tbear, this fine sunday morning.....here we go....91 and counting down
Morning tbear... you have picked a wicked grid to wake up to!
any help on the s5/18?
S5/18 is plural of S4/8
Gimgeruk, plural of an s4/8
Bless Brandyjack for the letter countdown, first time I needed it, but it sure made me find these crazy words. There is only one way to connect the missing letters when you have to start with S and then you find two yiddish words, a 5-6 combo indeed. Chilled soup(s) made with sorrel, onions, lemon juice, eggs, and sugar and served with sour cream. With the O6, that makes two completely new words today - guess I legitimized my babbling for today then ;) Thank you guys for helping me.
S5/26 - 6/42 - forgot to mention the points.
hey sprite....think you're right...still u nlike you guys I don't struggle to the bitter end...I've a shortish attention span
too many fish in this one!!!
tbear, I admire you for that. I keep telling myself there is no reason whatsoever to keep on struggling till all words are accounted for, but I cannot seem to stop myself. Pitbull mentality, my husband calls it. :D
So... it is 91 words / 4.46 / 1183 points we are trying to cough up today. Nasty grid it was!
I admire you guys, your dedication to babbling duty
Lol! This dedication borders on lack of common sense in my case. But since I am off to study outdoors for a couple of days, I am forced to go cold turkey on babbling until Friday or Saterday. Guess that will be all for the best ;)
Sprite I'm suffering a little this morning, post weekend!!!! so might not even bother to get passed 20 words.....Cop out Kid....that's me. have u finished already??
Crikey Sprite i would never have got the s5,6 without your help. Can't imagine i will ever use in my lifetime!!
Sprite...have a gr8 time...what are u studying?
For me it took brandyjack's lettercount to find them and that only worked because they were my final 2 words... I learn something new, if totally useless, in every grid ;)
It is a kind of advanced study for therapists and coaches that I am enjoying very much. It is on weekends and takes 3 years, but in every year we have a summer week. I will not allow myself to take my laptop with me, lol.
hey this really is a bad bay babble
Sounds gr8...I thought when u said outdoors it might be Horticulture...which is my occupation now. NO LAPTOP for sure. have a great time.
Thanks... and the facility has a great garden, so I will be outdoors for real some of the time :D Have a nice week all of you, babbling and otherwise.
Hmmm... only s4/8 I have can't be pluralised... am I missing one?
I have 2 s4/8 Ginge
thanx.. that sorted it!
*hugs Dr God* love the "invalid word" and "not 4 letters" bit now!
good morning from a very sunny nottingham
I only have 1 v... v4/ 7 a water v***... any other clues like letter legths please?
Ginger, hate to tell you this but... there are all 4/7
:o thanx sprite!
Looking for 2 more 6 letter words. Have AE, AX x 2, CH, CI, HO & SC. Any hints?
E6 and O6.
Thanks Sprite but with 4 Os and 3E this will take me all night .......UGH!
The E-word differs only one letter from the word for "out of the ordinary, strikingly unusual, of foreign origin". For the O-word see 02.28 am. Can't put it any closer than that without giving away too much :( Good luck hunting, I am off now!
is there a clue for AE6 please?
Ginger, it's an extension of an a4/4.
Ginger, think of thousands of years worth of cigarettes. And if you can give me a clue for h6/33 in return, maybe I won't actually smoke that many trying to find it...
Melissamy, plural of a h5/20.
Thanks Zade and Melissa... got tat now :) I would willingly help with h's but I haven't got any yet!!!
Oh Zade...if only I had the h5/20...but thank you, that will help!
Found it, Zade -- THANKS.
Sprite, thanks for the tips - got them both. Could not have done it without your help.
Sprite - I have a s5/26 and its plural an s6/42 weird soup if that helps :)
Sprite - I've got a s5/26 and its plural s6/42 - a weird soup...
weird - I couldn't connect to the log for ages and when I finally do it loads the message twice....
HELP! Have only 4 L's. lo4/5, lo5/12, lo4/4, lo47. Can not find the other 3, driving me bonkers!
Why doesn't it like loonie?
Hi Janie, yeah strange, as it is in the enable dictionary that this puzzle supposedly uses!!
Zade, I have 6 -- all of yours, including 2 4/9s. Try looking Very Very hard for both. I am currently going mad trying to find the one left.
Typo Zade sorry -- 2 4/7s, not 4/9s!
Hi Melissa, I only need one now but I don't have any 4/9's ? Confused!
Ah! Yes I found two more 4/7's just by the monkey typing method! Damned if I can find the last one though! AAAAAAARGH!
I know EXACTLY what you mean. In fact, I'll join you: AAAAAAARGH!
c4/9
Meliisamay, I'm going to give the L a rest for now and hopefully it'll come to me later, good luck, I think you'll need it!
Me too Zade, it's making me cross, and cross eyed!
any clue from the h5/20?
Hi again Ginge, if you got the h6/33 you must get the h5/20 or is there another one?
I haven't got the h6 either!
I only have 3 h's h4/7 h4/8 h4/10
Sorry Ginge, I'm confusing you with Melissamay. Yes there is a h6/33 which is plural of h5/20, meaning is undefined but a cryptic clue would be "how father christmas greets his old man!"
h5/20 Paris Hilton's father?
Loved the clues!!! hee hee got it now thanks!
can't believe it doesn't accept nexi!
just need sc6 now to have all 6's
I've got HA4/7, HA4/10, HO5/20, HO6/33 and HO4/8 - any clues for the last one?
GingerUK, SC6 is the plural of SC5.
Hi Diane, I'd loooove to help on your last H but that's my last one to get as well, DOH!
so.... how does one get one's (pitiful) score to register? I logged out, but when I checked the rankings, nada. Same was true last time I was here.
why won't it accept saxon?????
proper noun?
I tried saxon too. Probably because it's a proper noun? The one I can't understand is nexi . That's a perfectly normal Latin plural (nexus). :(
tygerbryght, you have to play 3 times before you're ranked . . . but i ended up emailing dr. god to manually tweak things so i'd be ranked
how about a clue for SC5 - can't see it at all!!
thx, Uneaixoise. I guess I'll just wait until next time. First time, I managed to get most of the words. This time, I've got a whole 41. :( So it's not as though it's a score to brag about.
Hi vmk, have you got the sc6?
vmk - what does rooney's girlfriend not liked to be called?...daniella westbrook is one too!
O.K. 6 to go and I am giving up for tonight - dinner time! Have fun. Leave me some good clues for the last C, H, L, N x 2 & S. Have fun :)
must be thick tonite - can't see that either
vmk -put the s infront
cheers Diane, enjoy your dinner. I've got 9 to go but not given up yet!
no moonie?!
no loonie either. i tried moonie last week -- wouldn't take it.
doesn't like dosh either - cash free lifestyle?!
or DOHS and there have been lots in this chat
I can see it not accepting Xena, ;) but xeno? The philosopher was Zeno. Aaaargh. I've had it for today, but I did get 9 more, for a wonderful, marvelous :-P (not!) total of 50. Gonna have breakfast and go to bed.
ok..ok...can someone gove me a clue on the ha4/7...is it a word id know??
Rolin: it's one of those from scottish words
same as yesterday
Rolin, it is a scottish word very coomon in babble boards.
ty ty...you wanna over to my place and help me thru the rest??..lol
i have booze and snacks????...lol
Rolin, you'd be surprised how after a few days playing those weird little words just leap out at you!
I'll pass on the snacks if you don't mind, but i'm up for the booze!
zade...i shall live in such hope..i just dont know how im gonna be able to go back to work and not play
LOL :)
I have o4/ 6 o4/ 11 any clues on the other o's?

zade...is there a bpard the had the break down of the words were are looking for..a list that says a4/6..ho6/33 etc...or do ppl know cos of other posts?
I can't get the o6/33 although it seems it should have something to do with eggs?
tnx Ginger that was the clue I needed - bingo
try that again in english..lol..is there a board that has the break down of words we are looking for?
Rolin, those lists tend to be posted later, when more people have completed the puzzle......and more are stuck!
hi rolin it's scotish for "to have"
zade..thx...*mumbling*...finished the puzzle..HUH!. grumble mumble*
Ginge, yes it sounds like it could be pertaining to eggs, but it's not!
thx mu...found it..and have enblazened it on my forehead for other times...
Geobabble, doesn't help me much LOL... I have the first 3 letters... any chance on the 4th?
Pulled hair out for hours on that word yesterday Rolin - got it by monkeytyping. I will never forget it now.
It has a lot in common with the two a6/45's.
geo...monkeytyping??.. is that where you just go thru all the impossible combinations of letters?
works on 4 letter words like that
oh and...are there any ex- words?
We all resort to mokeytyping in desperation from time to time, but you'll find no works of shakespear here!
oh , mokey is a new word by the way. LOL
Rolin, I have 3 EX- words.
*sigh*....reaching for the razor blades
DON'T DO IT! LOL
Why do we let these pointless pursuits irk us so much?
zade..this is not pointless...*reaching for rationalisations*...i am a teacher of english...i am using this to increase my vocabulary....and with reaching 50...to exercise my fast depleting brain cells..lol
I think you should re-train as a teacher of gibberish, you'd fare better here!
hmm..maybe youre right...
I think I can say, without fear of contradiction, that most of the new words you learn here will not be usable in sane conversation!
thats ok..as i said..im a teacher...the kids i work with are insane anyway....lol..hey...do they print the list of the words that solved a puzzle..?
Good morning to all from New Brunswick, Canada.
g m boober

Hi all. I am just starting today...do I have a chance?? LOL
i started yesterday georgy....leave all ideas of a life behind..lol

*sigh* 11 words to go... at least the footie is on now so i can babble in piece!
...and guilt free *smug look*!
lol its hard to find words...i may not be successful enough at it to waste that much time on it! :)
hi everyone..just testing...lost the chat log
testing testing 1,2,3 lol
trust me georgygyrrl, I started this last week and completed my 1st puzzle on friday, so i'm not that good, but it is addictive. i find i'm ok if i don't turn the pc on...but then i have to check my emails and it goes..
sigh...i cannot find 5 a words
...downhill from there!
how does one know if one completes the puzzle??

Hawaiin word for a white person is probably the one yo are looking for...we had it in the week too
Thank you so much Kallia - you're a star :)
Kallia, I wish...! Warehouse rave on a local trading estate. They obviously thought they wouldn't be a nuisance, but from talking to neighbours today I think the whole of St Annes & St George got the full benefit of the beats & bass from 1-5am. I live over a mile from the site and I could hear it...bpm torture :(
Help please!! I need my last five words any clues would be great. ax 6 ax 6 ci 6 ci 7 and no 5 I have the two that are one letter different. Thanks!!!!!
ne1 hlp? ad4/4 ha5/6 no5/16 so4/5
elmer, both ci6 and ci7 have to do with EUCALYPTOL Need hint for final no5/16
no 5 is something you read there is no a 4/4
so 4/5 a person who drinks too much ha 5/16 ha plus _ _ _ ST nick
Thank you everyone for the lovely clues! Happy to get one more under my belt....
got 'em all!!! Happy1, do you have the no5/16 that is a book?
Ax6 "Not contaminated by or associated with any other living organisms".
Elmer, those ax6/45s only differ in spelling by one letter. The first refers to something that is uncontaminated by any other micro-organisms (based on the greek for stranger) The second is an extension of your ax4/11 and is probably linked to fibres that carry nerve impulses away from a cell (based on the greek for axis)
The other Ax6 is just one letter different. Based on the Ax4/11.
Yo, ELMER!!!
thanks CSA and ANJ I have every thing but ex 6 did you get your nap smithchick?
Ex6 "A sequence of DNA that codes information for protein synthesis that is transcribed to messenger RNA". One letter different from your Ax6.
Thanks so much CSA finished!!!!!
...and no prizes for guessing which letter that is ;)
ex6 = ex4 + in charge
You're welcome. I have time to monitor this while my 3yo refuses to nap. sigh....
Are you kidding? Do I have children? Didn't get home until after 3:00.
well better things to stay awake for Anj. My sister went to school in St George when they had a Grammar lol
elmer still not got it!
happy 1 what do you need help with?
night all off with my book
There's still a school at the top I think. Talking of which, how is the teaching going??
ha5/16 so4/5
So4/5 1. Carbonated beverage. 2. The grass on your lawn. Also a derogatory term for a guy - a Britishism.
Happy 1 Jolly _ _ _ St Nicholas. Put your Ha in front of the missing work. so 4/5 when they put squares of green stuff on your lawn
Ha5/16 - check out a Hawaiian translator for white person.
So what is the value of the second AI does anyone know? The A's are driving me crazy!
there is only one al 4/4
Okay.. ai (sorry 'bout the caps)
In order ad 5/28 ad 4/6 ad 4/5 ae 4/4 ae 6/24 ai 4/5 al 4/4 av 4/8 ax 6/45 ax 4/11 ax 6/45
K..i need help with ho 6 before i pull out all my hair..i think i may be stupid
ho 6 is the plural of ho 5
Okay, my list is totally screwed up then.
Ho6 is plural of the Ho5. Google says it is "someone who hangs out with surfers but isn't one" - among other defs.
Padfoot check out Brandyjax post at 0322pm
You are my hero...i've been staring at this too long me thinks! Time for a break..12 words to go
But there's 12 A's, or is that first list wrong as well?
If there's only 11 I'm done with the A's but I'll be short.
There are 12 a's on my list are correct. Brandyjax has the complete list at 0322 pm
sorry i missed an ax 5/24
padfoot the ax 5/24 is a form of ax 6/45. I'm sooo sorry for the mess up

Oh, sorry, you talked more while I was double-checking, I hate to correct people then be wrong myself! Thanks!
padfoot you have the first three letters with ad 4/6 drop the last letter and add two more. It is not in my dictionary.
ad5/28 is an antelope from N. Africa.
I cannot for the life of me find the ha5 and one of the ax6. Those are my last two words :( any help, clues, lifeboats?
are there just 2 AX6? if so, they are just 1 letter apart ...
howwwwwwwwww do
fit1 your a6 is one vowel different form your other a6 there have been some good clues for your other missing word recently look down the log just a bit
ha5/16 still eludes me...must have had 2 much vino ma heid is mince!
Ok, got the A6. Thanks so much for the clues.
The Ax6 is based on the Ax4/11 which means "The usually long process of a nerve fiber that generally conducts impulses away from the body of the nerve cell."
happy1 think of another word for old ha that work
thank goodness i studied artifical intelligence in computing... lol
Has anyone got the LA5?
my message got change. i'll try one more time. change the last letter of the word old ( same meaning) ha plus that word is your missing Ha.
The Happy 1, check out http://www.kamous.com/translator/s.asp?l=1777 for your h6.
La5 is Brit variant on "A prefix meaning or pertaining to, or toward, the left."
Jera, I suck at giving clues but here goes. la plus the last three letters of your next two word.
Happy 1 did you get it?
I did it!!! I shall sleep tonite :)
finally. ta much folks for ur patience. am off 2 scoof last of vino. manic lol
Elmer, thanks but I still can't get it... what is last letter??
I'm back on night duty so have the whole night ahead of me to attempt to crack this! Well done to those of you already done!! Stick around to help!! I'll need it!!
Never mind, got it... thanks!
can anyone give me aclue on the ov6??
Ov6 "Of or relating to a device whose operation is based on the Ovshinsky effect."
mich the clue before this. Ov plus the last 4 letters of 2 of your a 6 words
I think I'm too thick for that clue!! anything simpler!! Thanks!!
i haven't found any possible h05/20, any clues
Ho5. Google says it is "someone who hangs out with surfers but isn't one" - among other defs.
silkysings think of another name for father
Hrmm.one word left..any hints for ch 6
i can't find any name for a father that is ho with 5 letters
Ch6 - look across the top of the grid. you'll laugh when you opt to see it.
Ica...pro-ch----
To be very crude, it could be the father of a prostitute!
put the other name for father after the ho
HA! The easy one fooled me. Done..finally, my oh my how satisfying it is to finish. Almost better then ..wait I shouldn't say that
silky - fathers - plural
yeah i just got it before i read your clues that would have solved the mystery, thanks guys
I'm done...goodnight from N. Carolina
anyone have clues for ax5/24, ci7/36, ex5/24, and ex6/45?
ax5 24 is ax4 plus a vowel
silkysings add a vowel to the ax4
Same thing for ci 7, its ci 6 plus a letter
ex 5/24 is The outer layer of the wall of a spore or pollen grain
ex6 is ex4 plus two letters
thanks guys that helped, only 6 more to go
anyon ehave the 3rd no5/16 that isn't celestial events or salmons?
and the only other one i have left is ov6/33 any clues for that?
no5.....what writers produce
tbear, my god it's been in front of me the whole time
hi all! I've never been so close to finishing. Don't know how. Just put the tv on and blindly plugged away!! I'm looking for 5 more, then I'm done, I wonder if anyone can help? ch4 ch5 da4 x 2 da5 tvm !!
Ch4 1. Sounds like Italian for bye. 2. Those hanging little thingies that were so important in the 2000 election. Also a guy's name.
Da4. 1. "The lower portion of the wall of a room, decorated differently from the upper section, as with panels." 2. Baby talk for father.
there are quite a few d4 & d5...check out moozey's post from 3:01 and let us know specifically which one(s) you're missing
thx CSA! got them! I've miscalculated.... my total says 86 words now. I don't know what the missing words might be. oh nooooooo <hangs head in despair>
please i'm desperate for an 0v6/33 clue
Check out brandyjack's 3:22 post for the most helpful breakdown....
anyone know of a site where you can browse words by the first letter or first two letters
http://www.ato2zwordfinder.com
i think most people use a2z wordfinder
Correction: http://www.a2zwordfinder.com sorry!
Hiya all. Just got in after a weekend away. I'm up to 48 words and have just come into the log. Was about to say a2z site. Glad you lot already have. No doubt I'll be using it before long, but first I'm going to check out today's log for clues.
thx silkysings, I hadn't seen the 3.01 breakdown. I hid the log. I am a proper idiot! da4/8. I've got the one to rush off da5/14 - I've got the room decor plural ch5/22 thx guys!
figures there's nothing there for the ov6/33...does anyone have a hint on how i can find this stinkin thing? I need to finish and feed the baby
silkysings - the definition for the 06 is crazy, but here goes: "Of or relating to a device whose operation is based on the Ovshinsky effect" but if I were you, I'd get an egg and send it into space! (my clue is miles better you have to agree!) : D
Da4/8 - reverse the last two letters from your 'rush off' word.
da4--same letters different order as one you have da5-plural of toddler's daddy ch5-plural of ch4/10
Da5/14 - plural of the baby talk for father.
ahaaa!!! thx CSA and Silkysings. Gottem! : D
silkysings - you got your ov6 yet?
ov/6 is on a2zwordfinder. but like me, you insisted on concentrating on the lower left of the puzzle instead of the upper right where it is...
would you adam and eve it? I had the ch5/22 all along! thx again silkysings
That ov6 has gotta be ova.. something. Send it off into space? I'm puzzling....
no a in it at all.............
god bless you brandyjack i can feed my daughter now, thanks a million
any clues on the mo4/9?
sorry silkysings, didn't mean to confuse you.
when you know the score, it makes it fairly easy. Ov6/33 means it's 3 x point count. Which means the letters add to 11. Since the O and V add to 5 already, the remaining 4 letters must add to 6. Really limits the options. Since you know that 3 of them must be at least one, the 4th cannot be greater than 3. Which in fact means NONE of them can be greater than 3. An exercise in logic from there.
any clues for the ai4/4 ?
Mo4/9 - to go from one place to another.
silkystring - Haven't looked back a brandyjack's breakdown yet, but if the mov4/9 you mean is the one I've got, then it's what someone might quite rudely say to you if you were in their way, 'mo** it!'
what's the worst epidemic the world is facing today? African countries are hardest hit, but none are escaping it (denying it maybe, but not escaping).
oh wait - I'm babble-brained. there isn't an ai4/4. I've got the ai word. Maybe I should take a break. Floss my teeth or something? Anyone want a cup of tea? : D
Brandyjack - I'm not too hot on anything concerning numerical logic, since words are more my thing.:-(
Babbler: you need some plural help
thx brandyjack, the babble meister! I'd best get up and put the kettle on.....
Cup of tea great., Even better with a G in it!!
jooboz-- I deffo need something! (soz, couldn't resist)
silly me... i already have the 4/9... it's one of the mo4/6's.... the last word to get!
would love cup of tea!! What a fab idea!!
brandyjack is talking about the same logic as scrabble, aren't you? I adore scrabble.
if you are working from moozey's list, well, it has two errors int that I've seen. One of them is the ai4/4. I think it is supposed to be an al4/4, but not sure. There is one more error that i saw earlier but cannot pinpoint just now.
deffo getting up from my chair....... leaving the desk...... on my way........
Mo4 1. Extinct, flightless bird - sounds like a feathered scarf or a S. Am. snake. pl. 2. "A colorful fabric panel of Central American origin, sewn with a reverse-appliqué technique and used for decorative purposes, as on clothing or furniture or as a wall hanging." 3. The silvery orb in the night sky.
scabble is illogical......... in my opinion, downright scatological....... I have a single lane mind. trying to switch lanes to bugger up someone elses efforts or stop them from doing unto me is beyond me. Logic is my forte..... Calculus, war game strategy and other black magical artifices are not fun.......
thank you for the clues.... I was missing the south american one... i must have tried all the combinations except that one!!!!
i'm dying to say scrabble is war, but it sounds really daft. so best not then, eh? how many sugars everybody?
Earl Grey, hot. hmmmm. excellent idea. preheat the pot first please....
No sugar, but a chunk of ginger....
No sugar ta, I'm sweet enough already!!
okley dokley......
Scrabble's one of my favourite games, too. What's the black magic stuff you're talking about Brandyjack?? Anyone played the board game 'Spinergy'? We have it here at home. It's a great game if you can write 'on the hoof' in one minute and think quickly.
My hubby refuses to play word games with me. And I refuse to play strategy games with him!
none for me, just as it comes will do!
dark arts, brandyjack? do y'all feel like i'm bringing the teas round? i feellike i should be filling a pot!
well... off to NOT spend my evening on this, since I am finished! see you all tomorra!!!
you might want to make that a few pots!
okay! now, are we talking plain or milk chocolate digestives......?
Brandyjack - do you like your Earl Grey with lemon or milk?
choc digestives!! Mmmmmmm!!
i've lost track of who suggested a cuppa, but thank you whoever you were.
as for dark arts, have you ever dealt with calculus? humungously complicated equations to which you just pluck numbers out of midair and make it so...... failed it three times before i learned to leave it alone.....
it was meeeeeeee! : D who else would it be, Babble Meister?!
I remember calculus <shudder>
needed no help tonight brandyjack but I was still stuck on thesame ha5/16 that I didnt remember on the 18/8/05 , I wont forget again, night night
night ferrari. I couldn't find it either until someone posted the definition. then i just looked for the L and backtracked it from there. HAXO? HOXA? HAVOX? no way could i find it....
can we have Hobnobs, as well as choc digestives?
i'm just waiting for someone to complain about all the off-topic hobnobbing going on in here........
I've got 90 words now. Just need one more. It's a mo4/6. I've tried all the combos, but can't find it! I've got the planet (?), creature, and birds. everyone enjoying their teas and biscuits?
I think I preferred the tea and bikkies conversation to calculus!! thats almost swearing!!
changing house?
OMG!! I've got 91 words. I have completed!! I never thought, when I woke up today, that I would complete today's game. I'm in shock....... best have sugar in my tea, hadn't I??
oh sorry, thats a mo4/9
I've got the 'x' word but there are 3 other legitimate 'x' words - the prefix xeno, and xhosa plus xhosas (cattle-rearing people from Africa).
I'll hang out, drink my tea, and help out with clues, if anyone needs anything?
think of a type of tooth without the r
well, there is an mo4/6 tha is spealt the way a good mexican chocolate pepper sauce is pronounced. Of course there is a second one that is the actual spelling of the sauce. The first one is in reality a central american fabric panel, while the scond one is also a small blind rodent related to the vo4/7
is that raw ginger with the tea? or candied/crystalline ginger? Sounds like it might be wonderful in my grey...
thx mich and brandyjack - got them! I've got them all! (what did the count do on sesame street? was it manic laugh or cackle?)
Oh, don't worry about the complainers Brandyjack. They probably haven't got broadband. LOL. Anyway, all you have to to is click your middle mouse button and scroll fast to read the clues. BTW, you still haven't said if you prefer lemon or milk in your Earl Grey. I've got 54 words here - which isn't bad going as I not long got here. I'll be happy with that.
ooooh, saw some crystalised ginger yesterday in Holland & Barret. think it was on special........ mmmmm
I agree with Jacula, don't worry about complainers brandyjack. they do go on!!!
sorry, lot of messages scrolled by while I was making my tea. I use milk and sugar in my grey, nothing in my english breakfast. Used to love Ridgeways "Her Majesty's Blend", but haven't been able to get Ridgeways in years........
am i being really thick? why cant I see the ea4??
...... what did I used to do at this time of night? I can't remember!
No one heard of the 'Spinergy' game I mentioned a while back? It's brill.
i've only got 68 words tonight. I don't worry about finishing. It's the digging and pondering that is fun.
nice to take a break and chat, refreshes the mind I say!!
no not heard of spinergy game, where from?
mich - think something to do with roofs, but with no 's' on the end. jacula, I've never heard of Spinergy. I've made a mental note and will look out for it. sounds brilliant!
BTW, why can't we have 'dosh' (Eng. slang word for money), 'moonie' (part of weird cult or someone who flashes derriere in public), 'chav' and 'chavs' (these very strange people who now inhabit much of UK) and 'saxon'?
More tea, Vicar? : D
thanx babbler! Got it!! I am thick!! Don't think an 'English' dictionary was used for this game!
Saxon and Moonie are proper nouns.
OW! Just went to get 'Synergy' game off top shelf to describe it to you all and 6 jigsaws (one Beatles on in a TIN)and 3 other board games fell on top of me. Luckily the one that hight my right temple was a very small 'Wasijig' in a cardboard box.
and they do allow monie and monies. They won't allow french words, but will allow greek girdles from 2500 years ago. and when i resort to word finders, it's usually some dang furrin' currency..........
Brandyjack - 'to do a moonie' here in UK means to... well, as I said.
Jacula! You ok? You poor little love!
Brandyjack - I'm sure I've used 'monie' and 'monies' on babble sometime in this past week?
over here we use the verb mooning. Here a Moonie is one of rev sun moon's airheads.
Yea, babbler. I'm still standing, as Elton John once sang. LOL.
I'm still puzzling over why 'sefton' (as im American saint) was allowed one day last week but not the next.
Just finished, but no time to read the log or interact, which is too bad really, as it is as much fun as finding the words. maybe tomorrow. :)
glad youre still with us Jacula!!
are you sure it was allowed? I frequently fat-finger it and find that what I wanted to type was no good, but the fat-fingered version worked perfectly.
Night swmbo. Sometimes I'm single-minded over finding all the words and at other times I prefer the chat. Sleep well.
Yep, brandyjack, 'sefton' was definitely allowed.
just realised I have none of the no's any clues??!!
I just had a cup of orange, passionfruit and jasmine green tea -Yum! Don't think it helped me find any words tho.
mich, I could write a book about one of them! (wink wink!) the others - all to do with stars, 2 plurals and a singular
barbk -- your tea sounds delicious! I'm having a rooibush tea now....... aren't we civilised tonight! brandyjack-- I've never tried raw ginger in earl grey before. I'll try it tomorrow and report back!
Anyway, back to that board game, 'Synergy'. Off the back of the box... 'Sample scenarios. Create a shocking tabloid headline using... WORDS: voices, nurse, fridge. Example response "sister VOICES outrage at naked NURSE found in FRIDGE". Spin the wheels to pick 3 words at random, then use them to describe .... etc. You'll make up riddles, slogans, tongue-twisters, songs, sayings with foreign accents and slice-of-life situations - and with over 350 million combinations, the game's different everytime you play.' Website for getting game etc., is http://www.gnugames.com/
Enjoyed having tea with all of you -- only drinking Coke here ... but I can get choc. diges. biscuits at specialty shops here!! :-)
i wasn't suggesting using raw ginger on your grey, was questioning what you use. And it's the crystalline ginger that's got me intrigued. I think the raw could be quite, um, expressive..
thx jacula! I bookmarked it and will have a look when my brain grows back......
brandyjack-- raw ginger in green tea is gorgeous! But I am sooooo intrigued by raw ginger in earl grey, I have to try it now. Maybe with a little honey to taste...... :D
Hob Nobs or Mcvities digestives... Mmmmmmmm! Having some Lady Gray right now - the REAL Twinings in the black box, not that icky stuff in the blue box they like to sell us yanks. Have a Brit foods store nearby...YUM!
thanks babbler you genius! Have nmanaged to get 3 of the 4, stuck on last no4. not the scotia one
oops!! make that no5. not the plural scotia!!
being at work getting decent tea is a bit of a rarity!!
i think she was saying something about writing something or other. Scotia's? I was thinking more along the lines of stars going boom. You must be from down east......
Raw ginger in the pot while you steep the tea. The amount of ginger dictates how potent a taste you get - of course! But crystallised ginger to nibble on while you sip the tea. aaaahhh civilization
alls well!! Ignore all previous nonsense I've got them now!! i'm in th UK
mich-- it's another way to make a word a plural. if you click on the ? for your star, you'll see it
babbler - I've never heard of rooibush.I googled it tho and it sounds intriguing.
barbk-- it's gorgeous! do you know The No 1 Ladies Detective Agency books? They drink it a lot in that. I call it "rubbish" tea, as I don't know how to pronounce it!
And for the truly adventuresome, try WHITE tea - not (or very slightly) oxidized, so it retains the best antioxidant power. Very delicate flavor.
Im originally from south africa and it is a hugely popular tea over there, they call it rooibos, which is the africaans word for red bush
White tea? That's one I don't have in my collection.........
pronounced "roy" bos/bush
I get my white tea from Stash tea, but Republic of Tea and Culinary Teas also sell it. I think most big dealers offer it.
mich-- ahhaaaa! now I can impress my friends...... : D !!
would anyone like any clues? I've got all 91 words! <chuffed to bits!!> I am just hanging out, as I have completely forgotten what I used to do of an evening. There's nothing on tv.....
it takes emfs (Electro Motive ForceS), but it won't take MEVS (Mega Electron VoltS). stoopid game....
that's what i get for looking for a 2nd me4 the doesn't even exist. Doh!
I'm signing out now on 55 words. Am happy with that, as don't want to stay up all night finding words. 'See' you tomorrow everyone.
yes i need more clues, now I'm stuck on the ci's, have ci4 but need ci6 an ci7 Help!!
(Brandyjacks Daughter here! OH NO! aahah) Babbler - Brandyjack relayed the suggestion of ginger in green tea to me (I'm a tea freak)... Going to try it for sure. I've heard ginger mixes well with Jasmine tea as well. Yum! Have you tried Vanilla Rooibos? It's one of my faves ;)
night jacula!! sleep well and no dreaming of words!!
night Jacula! mich-- see eucalyptol for your c6 and c7
for the Ci's, just keep adding letters to the ci/4
I only have four to go - any help with ex5 , ho6, lo4 and so5 would be appreciated
effie-- Vanilla rooibos is the business!!! I've got it with caramel too........ mmmmmm!!
cbr-- ex5 definition: The outer layer of the wall of a spore or pollen grain
ho/6 is ho/5 plural, the lo4's are crazed, hormone-poisoned, and when full to capacity it has a full lo..
cbr, so5 is plural of so 4, american for fizzy drink,....I think!!
ho6 is a plural of ho5 which lo4? I have lo4/5, lo4/4 and lo4/7 so5, plural of so4
Babbler - it is lo4/4 - my last word - you guys rock - I should have checked all my plurals before asking for help but I'm anxious to finally finish one!
cbr-- then you want crazed. hang on, the proper definition is : Any of several fish-eating, diving birds of the genus Gavia of northern regions, having a short tail, webbed feet, and a laughlike cry
Need help with ci6 & ci7 as well, just adding letters ain't working! :)
thanks for clues on ci's, got them now!! and now moving on.....
Babbler, mich, brandyjack you guys are great - thanks - I finally finished! Funny about that last word, I'd seen it multiple times but thought I had put it in!
you probably did, but fat fingered it. And got a word you didn't even know you had.....
ci6-think movies
The only movie-type word I can think of has an M, which I can't reach...:{
think arty, european film
Nevermind... dictionary cheat worked!
Only 5 more to go, yea!!
I'm sure sc5 & sc6 (prob a plural) will be forehead-smackers...
jera-- no they're not. they are 'close your eyes and see what comes up' ........!
sorry-- that's not a clue.
Ye gods I hate those
jera-- it's a type of chilled soup, and its plural. I hadn't heard of it.
I need da5, da4, sc5, sc6, & sh5. Help!
sh5/18 or sh5/22? da words are either what babies call their fathers and the plural; or the lower portion of a wall or room and the plural.
for the sc5 and sc6, think of derogatory slang for lower class; uneducated, ignorant people, and put an 's' at the front of it........
I need sh5/18. Hmm, I'm not up on my derogatory lower class names..
jera, are you in the uk? it's the latest buzz word! you want plural of sh4/8
O, its true then! About tea drinking in the British Isles..I never saw so many commentaries about tea in my LIFE..now I want some..In the south here...they drink iced tea..loaded with sugar..
I've had american iced tea. it's lovely! it's not the same over here......
Nope, I'm in the US, but the UK qualifier narrowed it down. Thanks! Now I just need da5 (not fathers) & da4 (not run fast)
jera-- you want: The lower portion of the wall of a room, decorated differently from the upper section, as with panels
Still need da4/8... not run fast... is that the chilled soup?? that search was too broad
ahaa! take the last two letters of the word for run fast, and swap them around......
sc5 and sc6, chilled soup definition: A chilled soup made with sorrel, onions, lemon juice, eggs, and sugar and served with sour cream
Yippee!! Now all I have to do is go over my list & find out what word I'm missing... grrrr.
have to go do some work, checking out for now, back soon for more help!
any clues for the ea4 word??? TIA!
Here in western massachusetts (aka the middle of nowhere) I slave over this puzzle I'll never finish at 77 words, but I just have to get the ov6 or go mad. May I please have a hint? It sounds eggy. Beginning to foam at mouth.
Ea4 - hangs off your roof
Wow, I lucked up & found it early, I am missing a co4, I have the ending, the oil fishes, and the salmon. Help!
Co4 - to hit on the head, usually a fish you've just caught.
Whew! Plugging in random letters can work! Applause for Jera!
do you have the musical co4 and 5?
jera...santa says, hoho...the salmon is..c(blank)ho..rhymes with ho ho..
the musical thing ..rhymes with the star trek lil guy..Y...
oops right, ending. ov5, anybody? tired of "oops!"
lianakate-- you mean star wars?? (not star trek)?
mab, there's no ov5. You want ov6. definition: Of or relating to a device whose operation is based on the Ovshinsky effect.
I only have 73 words..sigh. Am too pooped to go on..i dont know a low class ignorant people beginning with sh..yuck
yes..star wars..am soooooooo Polish and blonde tonight..sorry
lianakate-- scroll down to Jacula's post at 7.10pm. The UK slang term.....
lianakate: take sh word and lose the last letter then put a consonant between s and h. then plural. Its a horrible jewish soup only made bearable by sour cream, to which I'm allergic. Thanks babbler for correction and clue.
oooooooooh, i got that soup word this morning...sounds..um, loverly..(not!) ..ty for the clue..i have NO O.s
okay..i scrolled down to Jacula 7:10 clue..i think we have a language barrier here..lol, i didnt understand a thing...moonies..butt flashers..?..lol
lianakate-- I was trying to help you get the soup, but you already had it! The word for Jacula's 'strange people', with an 's' at the front....... : D
Just call me Liana..:) ..ty for the S in front of the strange people..i think..lol, no soonies..or sosh..I must be dense as hell...or my blood sugar is way off..prolly a little of both..and TY, for trying to help me...
Liana-- you'll want a cup o' tea then! lol! : D
i tried to find the 0v6..hell, i dont even know Orvishorsky..am calling it a night..ty all , again..
lol, i have green tea..and some powdered ginger..mayhap that would help..am laughing really hard at your post..lol
for your ov6, add the last four letters of your ae6.....
have a biscuit as well......... go on!........
Bless you Ms. Babbler, and bless stanford oshinsky too. I may never get all the words ever, but its ok because something is always learned. I've been looking at the egg and the ick all day.
Help- need 5 to finish. Need co4 (not the music), LA5, NO5, NI4 AND SO4. Please give me some hints - I so want to finsih one of these things.
ovshinsky, I mean. that all important v.
Now only need 3 to finish. Need NO5 (not the star or the book), NI4 and LA5. Any help appreciated.
co4 a plural fish, or a type of salmon, or to bop someone on the head. no5 plural exploding star or a work of fiction. so4 bubbly beverage. sorrry no ni5 for me.
there's no ni5. there are 2 ni4s. ni4/6 (a common word), and ni4/11, no definition
ni4 is blandly kind or like a water sprite less an i.
english is NOT, isn´t obious? my mother tongue...
mab and babbler - thanks for the help. Now only need LA5 and NO5 not book or star (according to brandyjacks 03:22 list). Any hints for me....please.
No5 - an alternate spelling for plural of no4.
La5 is an alternate spelling of the le4.
can anyone help me with the x word?
CSA - thank you sooooo much. 91/1183 - the first time I ever finished a babble :)
X5 - sounds like a weight loss drug that was on the market a few years ago.
The X word is like the goddess warrior's name but change the last letter.
thanks for the help with the x word...still haven't gotten it...but i must go now...way too tired
I need a ha/5 to finish...helpppppppppppppppppppppppppp
Hawaiian word for white person. http://www.kamous.com/translator/s.asp?l=1777
