Hi, babblers... Not sure who asked, but I'm not in the Katrina Zone. Lots of sympathy for those who are. I work at a gas station/convenience store. Gas prices are all out of control 'cuz of the hurricane. Makes for some very long lines at work.

Happened to be there a few summers ago, serendipitously catching the 25th Dead Elvis Parade. Spent some lovely afternoons at the Rum Boogie Cafe. Lots of great music in that town.
For the L7 think catty. The P7 is a verb for 'place in a prone position'. Thanks for the C6-clue, I go hunting!

Found it, Krys10! Know more about fungi now than I ever will need. It refers to an aecium in fungi in which the spores are formed in chains and not enclosed in a peridium. Right. And an aecium is the fruiting body of rust fungi, which bears chainlike or stalked spores. Sure. Your clue for the funny vowels made me try crazy words until one was taken :D
l6 is 1/100th of a drachma. :) science is funny sometimes.
That 2nd P7 is strange... can only find references to the plural. In singular it looks more like something you need to write to all the lifes of a cat.

Dr_God, The stats page causes the word list to disappear with no obvious effect. Exept that if you scroll down to the end of the chat log, lo and behold, there is this little tail thingy hanging off the end with all the stats in it.
Anj... I had that icon earlier ... I changed it as it wass ending some of us (including me) dizzy with motion sickness!!!! ;)

I don't think it's supposed to be there. It is way too inconvenient. I spent all day yesterday wondering when that button was going to do something constructive and having to reload babble everytime I hit that button.

I think I have an idea why it's done like that..... the url gives a clue... the word list is #top and the stats #bottom... I wonder if this is a design issue to stop them colliding?
brandyjack- I'm not sure I understand what you mean about the whole stats/word list/little tail thingy. The Stats panel and the Word list should both show up right next to the puzzle, but only one at a time. They are toggled back and forth by click the "flip to" link.
Nope. Have use scroll bar to see stats. I can see the stats at the same time I am writing this message.
Ahhhh. I gotcha. Yeah. There does seem to be a problem with IE 6 for Windows at the moment. I'll fix it right away.

It may still need some tweaking, because the width of the Stats panel is variable depending on the totals for the day. So if it gets too wide again, the panel will pop down below. If it does, just let me know.

Anj... on mine there is the grid which I assume shows how many times each letter is used and above that is the word lengths. WHat I mean is missing is the list of how many words begin with each letter or am I misreading the grid in some way?

Not sure about that but did have quite a few snow days last winter. Some kids went very far into June. Some towns even scheduled school on some Saturdays to make up time so the kids could get out of school at a decent time.

I clicked the link, but it was frozen and after a bit I rebooted the computer, but still NO action getting in to http://beta.playbabble.com I don't think it is my computer or browser as I can get any other sites to open...

whew, it's hot, and this puzzle is tough been scratching my head to understand the new stats panel...I get the top part showing the 4-letter, 5-letter etc, but I can't understand the grid underneath - why are there 4 boxes for A, for example?

For any Babblers still not quite sure of how the Stats panel works, refresh your browsers and click the "need help" link under the Stats. I've made a little helpful diagram.

I just fixed the Stats panel so that tiles with no words are grayed out automatically. Refresh those browsers for the change to take effect.

Well, as far as I can tell, BJ's stats add up to 116 words/1201 points. I can't find any more words the puzzle will allow so I'll sign off on that. (We'll forget Elton Jo(h)n, Lenin, Dolly Parton's 'Jolene', Madonna's 1st hubby (Penn), the man who was swallowed by a whalw (Jona(h)), Petra, Leto (Zeus & Apollo's Mum), Tronc (a pool where bar or restaurant tips are put), and Pele.

A question/suggestion. I really like the format, but I find as the day goes on and the log gets longer, and now with extra images to load, my bowser just can't handle it and it freezes up. I can only get 'any action' with the chat log hidden which is too bad as I love to follow the banter. Would it be possible to have the chat log bump to another page when it hits, say 50 posts? That way, the main page would load faster and people could still access earlier posts when they need to. Just a suggestion... Dr_God, you have really done a super job here, I LOVE it. And all of the Babblers as so nice, helpful and funny. Great site ann around...
