Please do not panic but has anyone else noticed when visiting this site that things are being downloaded onto your computer? Fortunately I am at work and we are scanned to the hilt but I logged onto this site today and just had a trojan.elitebar quarantined (I have administrator rights) Anyway as a precaution I suggest you run some antivirus checks. :(
thx Chris P ...didn't realize that was a valid word ...learn something new everyday with this game!
we have constantly-running checks here at work and i havent had a problem.
no unwanted downloads here ... I have a Mac and my firewall is running.
I'm beinhind a firewall too but it still tried to download something, which shows how niave I am, cos I thought you could only get infected if you actually asked to dowload something
finished.... and now to check out the 'puter...
My husband is a computer engineer... this place is like fort knox.
Does anybody know the authority for what is valid here? Is it the Scrabble dictionary? I mean, sometimes foreign (non-english) words are allowed, sometimes they aren't... what's the bottom line??
i think its the encarta dictionary, but i know its an old version of whichever dictionary it is...
Could someone give me a def. for the en8/55? I'm just not seeing long words today. :)
"the flattened end of a motor neuron that transmits neural impulses to a muscle "
it happened on my laptop at home too, I don't know where the hell this virus has come from but it is better to be prewarned, it may not have come from here but I usually load up IE direct to my intranet site and then head here, so assumed it must have come from here. I do hope not cos I love playing babble
or an easier clue, the last in a line of dishes. ;)
thought it was the Enable dictionary
youre probably right moozey -- i know it starts with an E and i know i dont have it...hehe
Thanks evanadine!
I use Firefox rather than IE, don't allow popups, and refuse nearly all cookies - so no spyware or trojans for me either.

The one time I visited Canada, I found this wonderful Nestle chocolate candy that had both coconut and cherries in it. sigh...Can't find it in US.
The duck was a prezzy from a friend. My office looked out onto the Floating Dock in Bristol - ducks everywhere - so they became something of a standing joke. They're also on the river outside my place - I can't escape!
Munner, that's a Cherry Ripe if i'm not mistaken :)
GingerUK, the other 7 is a pl7/44
Ginger pl7/44 -- to appease or calm someone
Anj, it was so-o-o good. Do you have them in UK?

Judi, eagles nest on a mountain side, and the other is the same word, change the last letter.

The game will only accept "valid" words, rud... don't try to be so fancy when you're new
see ya later Lola
lol ok thank you once agian
Bye, lola!
Catch you later Lola :) rud3boi, that would be an in6/24 but the Enable dictionary doesn't allow it. The grid will reject a few words, but not that many.
Does someone have the f list handy? I need 2 more then it's breaktime for me!

Anj - ain't it the truth!

Karen, no such thing ;) Ginger, the ar5 is a measurement approx five sixths of an English acre but it doesn't Google very well :( Think of the Guinness symbol (not the toucan!) and drop the H - that will head you in the right direction :)
35 hannah!!! yay

It usually does for me as well :( Turns a evening's gentle socialising into a weapons grade hangover lol
Any clues for the c6/39 please?
those angels are strummin'
Boysaway, the c6 is a cover put over young plants to protect them from the cold. Sounds like the way Sean Connery would pronounce a word for 'nearby' lol
Thanks Anj, love your clues!
OMG Anj, what a great clue!!
Anj ~ is that a hint for the CL6?
Minski, yesh, it is ;)
ARGH! I can't get it. I also am looking for the CO 8/60 and the CU 7/44.
does anyone have a 1st and 2nd letter breakdown of the c's??? I know it's a long list but I can hope :)
Minski - try the french for bell or a type of hat popular in the 1930s
ginger are you struggling today as well ? :/
found the CL6 working on the others listening to the baby chat with her toys when she is supposed to be napping wondering how long this "break" will last
yes. printed it out earlier. will attempt to reproduce accurately.
This is my first time i need help i have only found 5
minski , we brits would put a hyphen between the co and and word to "find"
Is there any one who could help me
CA4/9 CA4/6 CA4/7 CA4/6 CA6/33 CA6/24 CA5/20 CA4/8 CA4/6 CA5/20 CA6/24 CA4/6 CL4/7 CL5/20 CL6/39 CO4/8 CO4/8 CO4/9 CO4/6 CO4/7 CO8/60 CO4/8 CO5/24 CO4/9 CO4/6 CU7/44
e_gurl85 - Click on the Babble Rules at the top, and just play around for a bit. You'll begin to get the hang of it soon, maybe become an addict like the rest of us! ;-)
Welcome to the funny farm e_gurl85 :) Check out my 11:04 post for the As. If you hide the icons and display the whole message log there are plenty or clues dotted about although you can always yell if you get stuck lol
Minski - for co8/60 use lo6/24 which means to find and use co as a prefix. for the cu7/44 think of a vessel to drink from and a ceremony
I did and i even had someone help but what i am asking is what is this chat for then
thanks. that word isn't in my daily vocabulary which is increasing with every babble game.
e_gurl, we give each other hints to find the words... read through the messages and you will see clues.
If you understand the basics, then you're ready to go. The chat is where people post hints for the words they are looking for. For example, AR 4/4 is a word that is 4 letters long, 4 points and begins with Ar. If you don't want to use the log, you can click "hide log" as well. :-)
Thanks Minski!!
need a clue please for ca 6 24, got the one like ca6 33
Hi again Anj. As you`ve had all the words for ages please can i have a clue for me6/24 :)
There's a CA that most of us get in the form of junk mail in our snail mail boxes. Remove the last letter and that is the CA6 you are looking for.
Thanks, Minski! I've been looking for that one myself!
Thanks Minski
many thanks Minski, been driving me crazy!
Jaydee, that ca6 is litterally a cross between a buffalo & cow (to produce leaner meat) Check out Minksi's clue as well - think Freemans or Next c..... and knock off the ...gue
thanks also anj.got it
Hi Lotti...the me6 is a body opening or cavity like your earhole. Sounds like a cross between Black Sabbath and a cow lol Your fleshy me4/6 is the root :)
Thanks for that Anj. Now how about some help with my last 2 C words. The CU7/44 and the CO5/24.
Cheers Anj that all comes with great taste in music i see! :)
co 5 24.suggestive dance technique.sounds like something you sit down on
Minksi, the co5 is a gyrating dance, could be said to a baby, and is a song by Muddy Waters (Hoochie C...... Man) The cu7 is a an ore of copper I think. Compound word C.... of tea and one of your ri4/4s (religious ceremony)
Any hints on the UP 5/22?
minski co5/24 a type of grass or a sofa (with a vowel change) and the clue i posted at 11.52 was the one that I got the cu7/44 from
Lotti, the scary thing is that all my Sabbath is on vinyl! Even Heaven & Hell. Hey, going to see Dio next month tho' :)

any clues for the ca6/33 please?
Denny, variation of spelling of 6/24 :-) All 'fair creatures' ...
it is the last name of one of the stars of the honeymooners
Got 'em all! Now maybe I can get some real work done.
Karen, I've got my vinyl insured for £12000. RSA actually came round, took one look at it and blanched as a lot of it is irreplaceable... ...like a whole bunch of Def Leppard picture discs Lotti :)
Wicked Anj, i`ve only cd`s and a couple of vids! You`re the man!!!!!!!
Lotti, I would say that it's a sign of a mis-spent youth, but I've never stopped buying the damn things lol Right, feeding time. BBL :)
Til tomorrow Anj. Only 2 to go so hopefully off soon myself :)
Denny did you get it? If not change your ca6/24ie to ey :)
AAAHHHH!!! Finally finished the Cs.
What is this about flattened motor neurons as a clue for the E8? Could someone give me a clue in plain English instead of Science-ese?
Hi folks. I'm stuck on 3 words: ca4/6 (not the ones ending in 'n' and 'o'), co4/9 (not the one ending with 'f') and mo5/24. Any clues please?

Thanks for the 'c' help everyone. Got those nailed now. That just leaves the 'm'. Welcome Daria. Yes, just put what country you come from.
I think Dr. God does it based on your emailo address.

Barbie, yup, tiles have to touch vert, horiz or diag for the word to be valid.
Hey, I still need a D... thought I finished those...
cbr- my family where asking me what I was laughing about. How do you explain "the goat"!
My husband didn;t get it either when I tried to explain it to him over the weekend - I guess you had to be there!
My nearest and dearest have just given up on me in disgust!
Mu - I don;t have the co5/24 yet or I would be happy to help you - it's one of the four Cs I have left
CO5/24: think another word for sofa and change one of the vowels :)
co5/24 - c...... potato (lazy git with tv remote) change a vowel. Go Goat! :)
Aaah, but Anj, tonight I AM the fastest clue giver in the west ;)

Thanks Denny, but you left the words out! Hahahaha :D
lmao lola... just struck me as VERY funny.... lol
LOL @ Anj... tyvm. I seem to need 2 more ta4/6's.

Mmmm cathy, is it you who has been drinking?

can anyone help with the ra5/20... it's my last word!
I have a tin of tuna in the cupboard?
ha..
Mickie, your fish co4/8 has got me. There are 3 1) leaf chewed by folk in the Andes. They also dry it, powder it, add 'ine' and flog it for a 10000% mark up hahaha 2) big hairy nut full of milk found on some palm trees 3) ...here boy! or words to that effect...
yeah, my flatmate and I have an aquarium.
ginger - do you remember a singer called ***** mctell?
very funny... i was wondering
Ginger, Think Happy Days the tv show... there was richie, potsie and R____ the mouth.
boreetos... what size/? mine is a 55gal
earlier today I copied down www.a2xwordfinder.com that was mentioned in the log, it doesn't come up when I try and use it, has anyone found the page??
Cathy, I have a lemon sole in the freezer. If that starts flapping about I'm off fish for life :/
i've got some sea monkeys!
83 gallon, saltwater.
lexi... that would be a2zwordfinder... lol
wow, boreeto... humungous
lexi, it's AtoZwordfinder... looks like you have an X in there :)
I'm finished. If anyone needs a bit of help I'll be around for a short while
very funny, anj.... it probably has more of a cance of that than my own live fish... lol
I built it, but my flatmate takes care of it. It's very relaxing, I can't imagine not having fish anymore.
I've got a river outside...does that count? Mind you, it only has perch, trout and the odd mullet.
anj... that would depend... do you plug a light on top of the river for a better view of the fish?
Denny.... I remember Streets of London!! I tried that name with the alternative spelling!!! Thanks mtnjock too.... I'm all finsihed ... phew, last few words were hard work!
I used to have a boyfriend with an odd mullet
could i have a hand with the en/8 pls?
cbr1965, that's too funny.
lol cbr
cbr- stop it! I am trying to find words! :D
Wouldn't do much good...it's mostly opaque due to run off from further upstream. The fish have miners lamps to see where they are going lol
I don't remember the song - too young (haha) but i'm sur he used to be a regular on tiswas or crackerjack or something like that. Didn't he used to play a guitar?
Sorry - thought you might need some comic relief!
just spat my teeth out, anj... lol...
cbr was it a red mullet?
No it was a blonde mullet
lol oh dear....the 80's were responsible for some terrible crimes of fahion. i assume it was the 80's? :-p
Sorry Anj, didn't mean the fish one. Letters are running together and I need a break! Thanks for your help!
when we moved to this house there was a pond with about 5 fish in it but i killed them all with kindness - i overfed them. we kept finding them on the grass next to the pond, i think they were kamikaze fish
ta for list Denny...does anyone know why it keeps telling me I've used a word when i havn't ?
i think several are having that problem, cos it happened to me too. try a refresh
yes he did Denny and I think he wore big glasses too!
mabe they needed air.... you sure they were fish? lol
roflmao...just read your post CBR :) Cathy, mind you don't get 2 families of swans, a gang of delinquent mallards, 4 moorhens, a heron, a cormorant and the usual seagull suspects on the top of a fishtank... ,,,although Boreeto's might run that one close lol
what kind of scores do people get on this game ?
no seagulls to speak of, sorry. We get the occasional barge sailing through though.
lmao
live_n... depends on how many words there are on a given day.... normally between 1000-2000 though... ?
Oh no- only an hour 'til Dr Jack and too many words to find :(
help please with the other ey5 ...got the ey5/16
alrighty, to get any further I guess I'd better start mumbling about fish or something then... thanks Cathy22w
Okay, I need help again (big surprise)... hints for ac5/14 & ar5/14... TIA~!

Boreetos, it's probably trying to get out of the way of the Nimitz lol
Lovely, lovely. Thanks, Denny for the post. Until the morrow....
Jera- spooky! Those are the two I've just started to look for!

I guess I could say GMTA?? Yeah, we'll go with that...
well... should go on some visits. by the way... ordered myself some british goodies - essentials such as bisto gravy granules etc. lol... can't wait!
mo, you have both ey5/16's??
Excuse me! Jera and I need help!
For the ey5/7, use same first 3 letters, then a different vowel
...was that a paddy Lola ;)
For the 8 letter word, is what comes after EN a word on its own?
Shhh, lola, not too loud, we might attract the wrong sort of attention! ;>
lola and jera - ac5/14 is the plural of a typr of mite ar5/14 is what you might say if you found a writing implement!
go braves no but the last 5 are
jera/lola... ar5/14 According to Columella, a Gallic word for a measure equiv. to half a Roman jugerum.] Formerly, a measure of land in France, varying in different parts of the country. The ar... of Paris was 4,088 sq. yards, or nearly five sixths of an English acre. The woodland ar... was about 1 acre, 1 rood, 1 perch, English.
ac5/14 - footballer Lou M..... (without the M) or Fangio-era (very succesful) F1 driver without the S ar5/14 - soldier guy Sean Bean played. Drop the Sh and add an n

jera - by being angle-challenged... do you mean you are sitting in a funny position?!
Well, yeah, that too.
My daughter even has a scar on her forehead... she loves it.
LOL! If I am going to find all my words before Dr Jack arrives I'm going to have to hide the log......

Jera- vowel motor vehicle vowel :)
Oh no... now it's time... for the... Ceeeeeeeeeeeeeee's!!!!! Aaaaahhhhhh!
Ahem
...I think I peaked too soon :(
Anj.......?
Denny - I had a client call so I just returned - yes, it was the 80's - the era of really, really bad hair and clothes for guys and girls! (remember legwarmers?)
My mind has gone into meltdown. Chocolate may be required...
Anj, I think it's your turn to make the coffee babe ;)
CBR ... think parachute pants...
Oh no, I'm missing a T... had one on my list twice!
mtnjock - EEwwww!
Right on Lola. latte, fappe, mocha, espresso, capuccino or mint?
Mocha, please :)
...whirly cream on that?
No thanks, babe, just a biccie on the side if you have :)
well, ..i havent been ab le to work on this darn puzzle much. And i see there are 2 8 letter words..ugh Havent had time to eat much either..Hows it going for y'all?
Woohoo! All done :) Last two words were 4 letter c's that I had to find by monkey typing.
I'm with you lianakate - I just started back with 41 to go
Hey Lola - before you go - want to help me on those little buggers? I only have four Cs left - one is the ever elusive co6
I have 45 to go..and I fell 10 pts in the stats yesterday..cause i didnt have enough time to work on it..(been feeling punky)
4 words to go... soooooo sick of ca's & co's...
CB, there isn't a co6 :/
cbr- sure thing, but there is no co6!
No wonder I can't find it!
...ha!
LOL, CB..you lil southern belle, you.
I hate that lianakate! My goal is to break into top 100!
any help with the only j please
Jera ..me too!! I was at 132..and now down.
Why, shucks, ya'll - I'm not that southern !
mo, it's a ja5/28 - sounds like the flim, Day of the J.....
I am wondering if mayhap the big words start with in, or en..i hope not..i didnt see a recognizable word!!
It sounds a little like an animal, mo. But, spelt different.
I'm up to 170 which is pretty good considering I sat in the 300s for a long time
Oh noooooo... my paper list & my real list don't agreeeeeee.
Mo - the j word sounds like an scavenging animal. There was a book and a film.
Lianakate - one of them think en
thanks Anj and Jo got it now
TY..for the en help..lol, now what?..is it a common word?..(cb i have been playing for almost 2 weeks now)
ditto snowyowl
it is two common words put together - if you are last in the buffet line you get the en___ ___
Jera- deep breaths (and maybe some coffee?) !
The other one is a co8/60. The sort of word you would use to describe finding a place together.
ha..ty. There is no way i would be last in line for the buffet!! (shoving folks with lil jowls full of goodies)
cbr1965 Thankyou so much for that clue. Its been driving me mad on & off all day!
Yeah cbr, and not an animal in sight.....
Don;t forget the mullet
No, stop, please.... gasp :D
I'll try to refrain from now on!
Okay, before I go (more) crazy... I need ca5/20... ca6/24... and the 97th co4/8. I have the fair types & the soda & opp. go for the co4's.
and these are common place words?..the boys would like if I found cod piece..hahaha
Oh, lola... more caffeine is the last thing I need...
There are two ca5/20 but one means to pick up and *****....
lianakate - are you a ballet teacher or a synchronized swimming coach? Surely your swimmers don't wear them! lol
why isnt Coldcut a word????..its like bologna etc on a buffet!! LMAO..shows you WHERE i go to eat.
ca6/24 - you get lots of these in the mailbox around christmas - take off the final letter to get what (dare I say) could be a cross between a house pet and a bison - here I go with the animals again
CB..the boys are devils..and usually arent seen from the waist down..unless they are showing off..or pulling a fast one..bwaaaaaaahahahaha..on the last.
cbr- knew you couldn't get through a whole day.... lol!
any hints on the cl6 / 39?
That one was for you lola ! I couldn't resist
Sorry, that's all I've got time for :( See you all again tomorrow!
Take one our your L4s and add a consonant before it and a vowel after it to get this word - I think it is some kind of ladies hat
Sorry mthn jock - last clue for you
Cl6/39. A type of hat worn in the 1920's or something used in the garden/farm to protect plants.
meanie!
i think they mostly wore them in the 30s..and thats one of the few i had..
mtnjock - I meant previous clue was for you!
Jera - have you got (a)the opposite of hot( b)one thats less opposite to hot! and (c)one that sounds like a horses foot with a consonant change. Hope this is not as confusing as it was to type!!!
(stomping foot, and being down right ornery)...i dont see any en buffet stuff...lol (screeching)
LOL... I was wondering how I got on your bad side :)... and it worked, thanks to everyone!
Don;t end it lianakate - step up to the plate and finish the puzzle
lianakate prefix en to the thing you'd put your buffet food on.
how about lian, at the end of the buffet you would find a stack of ??????? put the 2 together now..
Thank you for the long c hints, if my saviors are still here!! People come & go so quickly here!
cute CBR
thanks guys..i got it but i thought i had typed it earlier...dumb, dumb word..Youre all wonderful..I adore you..and hand me the en........am hungry..LOL

Now I just need the last blankety-blank co4/8... I have the choco & don't go... hellllllp!!
think chanel Jera -
I will return the favor, cbr, will be back later, too, hopefully done & ready to help!!
Oh smack me... can't believe I missed that one!! Thanks!!
Jera, come on now, from the co4/8 - drink, co4/8 bean to make white powdery drug (illegal at that), and co4/8 - what I trained my dog to do, not fetch, not heel, not stay, but...
you must shop in the posh shoppes..CB..lol I dont think many would know that..(but i did)..HAHAHA
I'm off as well. Need to run a full scan on my system after today's flatline :/ Good luck everyone - catch you tomorrow :)

I meant ca6/24 not 5/24! Sorry!
think 70's horror flick, named after a girl who starts fires.
mickie they are ca6/24s the one you want is the book you can mail order from without the last 3 letters

There are 7 f words.
live_n - try a vehicle and a leg joint.
thanks snowyowl; I have 3xf4 and 1xf6
you're welcome live_n do you have a clue for the f6 please?
vitamin B... or sounds like it should be related to leaves
f6/27 - an ester of f.... acid, or a B vitamin that is essential for cell growth and reproduction
Thankyou v much brandyjack
Thankyou too live_n.
hello all
Welcome back cathy22w - does anyone have a clue for a mo5 I have the one that means to beg and the one found in your mouth.
I have ac4/8 and aj/4/11. What am I missing?
snowyowl: mo is a slang term for the green stuff, cash.
are you sure there's a third mo5 ?
alright thanks ! A mo5 like a cow trying to sing
still missing an f I've 5xf4 and 1xf6 what's missing ?
Got it thankyou! You now need an f/5 which is 'the point you conentrate on'
sorry- Iposted twice and that odd word should read concentrate!
my kingdom (such as it is) for a clue on the 8 letter words..i have the one that begins with en
thanks again snowyowl
Liana~ I'll trade you a clue for the EN for a clue for the CO. CO8 ~ Add the letters CO to an LO6/24.
lianakate there's a c8 which could mean renting together
lianakate- theco/8 is your lo6/24 that means to find something/somewhere prefixed by co. Hope that helps
how mant 8 letter words are there ?
Minski the en8 is what you'd eat from if you were at the end of a queue for the buffet.
Got it. Thanks Snowy.
There are 2 8 letter words.
snowy..bless you! Thank god i had the F word!!!! Great clue.
minsk..sorry i didnt see your clue..didnt scroll down that far! Thanks to all of you..Now, Minsk..what are you looking for?..i am still waaaaaaaaaay behind..but, will help if I can
I'm still missing 39 words (although I have both 7s and both 8s) so just about any clue will work.
you're welcome - thankyou all for your great clues and company I'm retiring now for some much needed sleep.Look forward to joining you all again tomorow - goodnight & good luck.
I am missing 24 i think..idont have the other 7..did you ever notice ..some word combos..we see better?.Too many consonants..or too many vowels all garbled together, freak me out.. :)
Has Brandyjack posted a full breakdown yet today? If so could someone please tell me approximately when.
ACK..i have 36 left to find..

There's a C7 and a P7.
hi all, just joining in, needless to say have long way to go! The site has changed somewhat since I was last here!! Photos and flags, nice!!
Minski last - he last posted at 4.40pm
Thanks Brandyjack. You're a god!
hey all... i am nearly done... if anyone needs help, clues, etc... let me know!
hi mich
thanks brandyjack,your timing is perfect!
yes please cathy22w, a clue for the 7's ?
cuy/44 - A natural red secondary ore of copper, essentially Cu2O, that forms as a result of weathering... sounds like something you drink out of with the american version of 'right' added on the end!
hi cathy22w, well done on being nearly done!! I have the whole night ahead of me to take this on!
pl7/44 - to pacify
I'm stuck on the ac5 that doesn't sound like an illness. Also the cu7...
ac5/14 - a mite. sounds like an old fashioned computer game system, with the first consonant changed
thanks for pl/7!! great clue!
thanks all !
I have the al/5x2 but can't seem to see the al4?? am I being thick?? Help!!
thanks! i just got the cu7 (hooray blind guessing)... i am stuck on 3 m's: me6, mo5 and mo6.
mich ... what you put on a burn
al4, cactus juice good for burns.........
mich - something that goes with 'vera' in shampoo!
thanks all!! And yes, I was being thick!!
saladspork.. hard to describe me/6... take your me4 that goes along the top and then go diagonally to the right...
lol... what kind of word is that. i swear i get more words by randomly typing letter combos than i do from my knowledge of english!
which mo5 don't you have?
i have the one that describes borrowing stuff.
there's an mo5 thet sounds like a cow trying to sing
got that mo5 ... also slang for currency
i've got that one too... i THINK it's a 24 pointer but i could be confused.
and another mo5 in your mouth
live_n ... meant to say thanks, oops
(the one i'm missing i believe is 24 points, not the singing cow money one)
that would mean to skulk around, the mo5/24
any clues for mo6/39 and the in5/12?
for the mo6/39, add on the l4/9 meaning scottish lake
the only mo5/24 is the borrowing one. the other two are mo5/14's, one is the singing cow, the other is a back tooth
mo6/39 is like a snail and in... is opposite of out wet
in5/12 - A large arboreal lemur of Madagascar, having large eyes and a rudimentary tail
durr, i thought there was another one somehow. Musta got off on my count. Still don't have the mo6 though.....
Thanks got them.
saladspork.. just gave you the clue for that
I have one MO6 .. is that the only one?
only one.
the mo6 is a god
aha, thanks!
any hints for the ac's
now i've just got c's left. someone shoot me now.
i am also stuck on one of the up/6's!
I assume the cl5/20 and cl6/39 are related, but any clues?
it's the same as the other up6, but change the letter after the p to a different consonant.
add to a d 4/5 and add to a r 4/4 to get your two up 6's
can anyone help with co8 please
May I please, por favor, have a clue on either of the 8s.
thaaaaaaaaank you!!! it has been driving me crazy!
Saladspork, thanks for your great clue for the up 6 I was missing.
co8 to put side by side
only 3 to go... must finish before 5... i'm missing a ca6 that isn't like a magazine you order stuff from or a weird person at the fair, and then the cl5 and cl6.
co8 If someone helps you to find something, you do this
co8 = co your l6
The other 8 is an e8 - think "last dish"
would anyone have a clue for the cl6's?
many thanks all
ca6 is what you get if you cross breed bison and beef
cl5 is a herb
I grow lettuces in a cl6/39
Once again, thx, saladspork. I had seen that clue "last dish" when I was here earlier in the day, but it finally hit me between the eyes.
what do you grow lettuce in ?
hmm... grow lettuces in it? hmmmmmmm....lol
in a cl6/39 - I have several in my garden
Maybe you don't use the word in US? Very common in UK as it is cheaper than a greenhouse
I like to think I have a culinary background and can't get the herb or lettuce clues! I know words, but they just don't work!
I thought it was a kind of hat?
the cl6/39 that is (the hat). Any clues for the herb?
the herb is "ary"
i am having a very stupid moment....
the hat is a bell in french
How so Cathy?
the herb ends in ary
Trust me Cathy I'm right there with you!!
Thanks for the herb clue!
AH!!!!!!!!!!!!! the french for bell.... now i get it!!! thank you!
meh, gotta go, and still missing 2. Maybe I'll be back. Thanks for all the help guys!!
Thanks for the cl clues, played around and got them both.
I've only one ac word me, any help with t'others
Cathy - now you have it, I can promise that thousands of these are in UK gardens, made of glass or plastic to protect young plants from frost. Hat definition is rarely used
ac4: pinnacle, high point ac5: a person who is not warm...
thanks; there's a third ac though isn't there ?
If there is, I don't have it...
a5/14 is the plural of a genus of mites
Just seen the time - off to bed so goodnight all
Got it! Thanks spellit!
I've read all the clues and am still braindead over the co8, ahhhh!
try "locating" it !
Break it into two parts. The first two letters are a prefix for doing something with someone else, the second part is your l6/24
or just locate
duh!Thanks guys!
WHEW! Time for a break, just 10 to go!
just out of interest, how did you all get your flags and pictures??
Become a Babble Pro :-)
any idea how many p words there are ?

thanks
Thanks; I have 3A4's and 4A5's, what's missing ?
a5
1more a5
Anyone have a hint for the fo 6/27?
jo, a B vitamin that is essential for cell growth and reproduction
may I have a clue for the c/7. The screen freezes every time a new message posts and it is driving me crazy. Does everyone else have this problem?
Isn't f-l-o-o a word for part of a fireplace or chimney?
Ok down to the end and just can't find them. Any clues for ra5/20, ri6/21 and ta5/16??
Thanks Gwen! Grrr... I can't believe I missed that! :-(
periwinkle I have that problem all the time, especially if I try to show all the messages
ra5 is a guy's name
periwinkle, A natural red secondary ore of copper, essentially Cu2O, that forms as a result of weathering.
good clue for ri6/21 at 4:21 from jera
Unfortunately Gwen if I show all messages my computer locks up - got a dial up here at work and it just doesn't like babble
ta5/16 dwaddle
please help with the a5's I have an ac5 2xal5 and an ar5
ri6 mentally slow person spelled different
live_n another ac5
2 al5's. One means to be up in the air, the other to be cold and distant
ac5/14, ac5/16
Hi Gwen!!! Gonna help me find my last few???
ac5/14 driving me nuts
Gwen great clue on ri, but still not getting the ta, will keep trying though
Yes, periwinkle, I have so much trouble with the screen jumping that when I try to show the whole log. the page won't scroll. It is a pain.
ta5/16 to be late in coming or going. I also have a terrible time with the screen waiting I used to enjoy reading the log but can't do it anymore due to how many times it stops so just stick with the last 50
Beth, I believe that floo is only a word in harry Potter LOL
ta5 sounds like the ca5/20
It would be nice if there could be succesive pages of 50 logs per page, that way, each one wouldn't be so long. I have a new computer with tons of memory and power and a high speed connection and it is still awful.
That's it - only three ca's to get, but I must hit the sack. A miss is as good as a mile. Goodnight all.
I know of a ta word that fits that description but the letters don't connect - Arg!
Aghh help ac5/14 ?????????????
I think floo should be adopted into the annals of the English language! Especially if it helps with Babble... :) :) :)
YIPPEEE got the ta word!
ta/5/16 rhymes with marry
ac5/14: similar to Atari (NOT a Babble word!)
AC is the plural form of a word for a mite
Beth, you would be Elisabeth would you?
thank YOU
Elizabeth, actually. Chicago, US
I think Ta 5 means "don't waste time" to hurry or pay attention. It's usually preceded by the word 'don't'
Finished!!! That was a tough one for 106 words, been working on it since I got home for work. Men in the house had to get their own supper!!!
Or it could be a street that is newly paved is very ta___
gald I'm not the only one stuck on the ac5's!!
I have a freind who spells her name Elisabeth and Babbles. I forgot that she uses another name online. But nice to meet you Elizabeth from Chicago!
speedfreak, know what the last mo5 is?? I have the tooth and the money
Swimmy our Beth comes in using her Cadfan name
can't find the ra/5 that is a guy's name.
ra5 also means to vomit
MO5 is to obtain by begging anyone else before I sign off
Of course Moozey, I realized that as soon as I posted.
I think the last mo5 is to beg something off of someone - that guy is a mo___
haha
I am struggling with my last t. I have ta4/6 ta4/6 ta4/4 ta5/16 any hints?
You, as well! I was wondering if anyone would know about the floo thing. I'm about a 3rd of the way from the end of the 6th book, and I have Harry Potter on the brain.
It is another ta4/6
another ta4/6
you are missing another ta4/6
LOL well I DID try to Babble floo but without luck. Actually there have been other HP words in the past that were not accepted, I can't recall which ones right now...
Beth - Not positive but I think it is spelled "flue"
Wow that was fast! As soon as I looked at the grid I saw the last ta4!!!
ta4/6 - type of food, a powder, a cover
Thought I was done but am missing the 2nd ca6/24 - help me save my sanity please!
What about the lone 'h'? I have monkey typed my fingers to the bone
There's a 6th ta word. I only had 5 until I saw the "cover" clue. The final ta word is a type of cross.
he married Anne Boleyn
swmbo - it's a guys name
swmbo, the H word is a Man's name
a ca6/24 is like a book you order from and the other like chilli con
I am AMAZED at all the names that are accepted! Thanks though for the help with Anne Boleyn's murderer!
Thanks live_n - i had heard that clue but kept trying to use the wrong a and couldn't get it to work out - spent way too much time on babble today!
Well, I think that if He5 is OK, then so should floo LOL
anyone need help?
periwinkle did you get the ra5?
Well, I seem to be in the begging mode. How about the 'e' that does not mean to make money?
I seriously need help cathy but have 25 to go - can you hang out awhile and let me see if I can't narrow down my list? Best show on tv is on so I;m trying not to get distracted!
sure... i might come and go a bit, if you can put up with that!
I'll be here!
the e4, swmbo?
drat have a missing M, thought I have finished and it is 2:07 am waaahhhhhhh
what is it moozey - I have all but one
ey4/7:: The reddish-brown color phase of the jaguarundi.
I am not sure of the score of the e word. i already have e4/4
omg, moozey... do you have to get up for work?
its an m5
I have the money and the tooth
Sorry, it is an 'e' from the top right hand corner of the grid
mo/5 to skulk around, or mo/5 a slang term for money
look at my 7:53 clue
yes Cathy I have a meeting in town at 9am and have the two children to get up for school in the morning oh well LOL
swmbo... you already have the only one there is, which is the e4/4... to make money
moozey... it's not worth bothering going to bed!
swimbo it is an ec5
the ey4 is the other one, all the rest have 5 or more letters
Well my grid is showing another to be had from that position
the ec5 means 'enthusiastic approval'....
swimbo - is it an e4 or e5 - there is an e5 that means Great brilliance, as of performance or achievement
there is an ec5 and an ea4 from ther
yeah, swmbo... it's an ec5
Sorry, i wasn't sure of the wrod length. OK, I have to look for an ec5 *sigh* looks imposs...
it's not... an ec with a milky coffee with the last two letters taken off the end!
GOT IT!! Thanks!
any hints for the ec5 ?
YAY thanks for the clues now off to my warm bed ahhhhh TTFN
Nite Moozey!
have a good night, moozey
ec with a milky coffee with the last two letters taken off the end!
wuhoo ! hoorah thankyou
sorry if there are hints already out here, but too tired to scroll through all the messages... I just lack the co8 & 1 up6 (not the one that is keeping something current). TIA
up6 add r4/4
back for a few..if I can keep awake..long day! How are you doing CB ?
co8 add lo6/24
down to 23 words so not too well - haven't been home long and my favorite show is on so I keep getting distracted!
thanks kristen, got 'em both. those seem like made up words to me. words I make up are never accepted. :-)
cbr... need any help yet? lol
carla - now and again i make up words and get lucky.. lol
youre doing better than I am..i need 28..and i still cant find that one J word..am monkey typing all over the place.
I don;t have the j either - maybe you could help with that lianakate?
Sorry I meant cathy!
liana... there was a famous film, 'Day of the Ja....' (bird)... miss out the K and there you go
the j word sounds like an animal with a letter missing, also once again, like the beginning of a man's name.
Cath..ty. I havent tried it yet but i got the clue..YAY..ty , so much!
Got it - thanks - down to 19 now - unfortunately all different letters so hard to ask for help yet!
did i say bird? lol... sorry... delete that bit
the j one was hard for me to see, even though I was seeing it in the A-Z wordfinder, I couldn't see it in the grid.
I do so love Brits..your little idiocyncracies in language do tickle me..(psssst..i know i misspelled that..lol)..and too tired to care.
an Az word finder?..whats that?..dang, i just keep plugging away with a lil help from my friends..I didnt know there were places you could go to look up stuff!! what a doof!
I guess it's kinda cheating, but no different than getting the clues on here. I'll post the link if I can in here.
www.a2zwordfinder.com I use the partial letters lookup "Begins with".
I dont think its cheating!! If you can find a word..go for it!!!!
ja5/28b is a thatch covered hut found in Mexico & SW US, but sounds like a hyena-like creature
liana... it saves my sanity!!! even then, i think i probably find about the last 10% of the words or so with the wordfinder - out of DESPERATION!
one more of those nasty T's on the top..I shouldnt jump around like this..but i get bored if I stay on one letter and it isnt working...I just found the mexican one..LOL (right in front of me all this time)
ok, all I have left is ta5 and ri6???
okay, for the ri6, think of a not nice name for a slow person that usually starts w/ re.
ta5 - To delay or be late in going, coming, or doing
lexi..could be a mexican ta..and the last ri--, given by the church when youre a dyin..i dont have too many words yet..hope this helps
yep cathy, I use the wordfinder once I've hit a wall & can't find any more by myself (also once Brandyjack has posted the 2nd letters, too, of course.)
yeah carla,,... by the time he posts that, i am normally scratch8ing around. i print that out in red and cross off what i have, circle what i don't have, and then hit the wordfinder!
alright, I'm going to step away from the computer & watch a little TV. Night, all!
is the azwordfinder the same one, cath?
yeah cathy, that is my method of madness, too. I also print out the grid early in the morning & carry it & a pen around w/ me since I am a stay-at-home mom & don't sit at the computer all day.
yes, liana... www.a2zwordfinder.com
ugh, i dont have a printer ..himself took it to do the hurricane claims..ijust bounce all over and get myself too frustrated..
http://www.puzzlers.org/wordlists/grepdict.php is a better one than a2z. I've found a2z doesn't always have all the words. Puzzlers lets you select the Enable dictionary to work from.
any cloos for ry4, cu7...oh i have about 13 more to find...*sigh*
thanks, bj... yeah, there's always one or two that a2z doesn't have. tonight there were 4!
i hqd no idea there were places to help you with all this stuff..ty, guys for filling me in..I really do go nuts trying to figure them out all the time..It would be nice to have when youre really stumped!!
ooh, that one even lets you specify how many letters. okay, really going now. :-)
any help with an ey5 (not the bird one) ?
ry - strange way to spell the outer covering of citrus fruit
ry4 like off an orange
live_n change the last letter on your nest word
yep but spelled with a y not i
i can hardly keep my eyes open..I havent been sleeping too well since himself has gone to work that hurricane..for insurance company..I think tonight I may sleep!! finally..G'night , my friends..be well
cu7 sounds similar to another word for a guilty person
I am down to only one word. It is a up 6. I have the one that means to bring into the present. Can I please have a clue for the other. PLEASE. Then I'm done
add an ra4/4
up6 sounds like stood up weel straight but badly spelt
Fit1, chane one letter of your bring up to the present one
YAY. Thanks Kristin. Got at once from your great clue ;)
night liana!
that was well straight not weel straight
Brandyjack, you still here? Did you post the expanded word list earlier? I can't get the view all posts to open it freezes and I have to close the browser. Could you repost it?

the CA4/6 is the root word for 3 other words.
live - 2 of your ca 6's are the same word with different endings. you have the one as you said related to chili, give that one another ending
There are 2 chili's - ca6/24 and ca6/33 sound and read the same, just the ending is slightly different.
the other one is a homophone for chili con ca___

I need an ey5 and an in5 (not to enter - the other one) as my last two words if anyone has some clues! THanks
I need an ac 5 (not the one that sounds like an old video game) and an ra 5. And I think 1 more....
Jax - think chilly for the ac5 and add the a in front - it is one of your co4s
CBR- your in 5 is a short tailed lemur. Both ey 5's are the same except the last letter. One ends with a vowel and one doesn't
Jax - Ra5 is a man's name - like ___ Kramden on the Honeymooners or ____ Malph on Happy Days
And thanks mucho - I got the last two and am finally finished!
AHA I figured it out. Other than the ra 5, I need another ta 4 and I'm done. I have ta4/6 x4. Can you tell me the point value of the last ta 4?
thanks cbr - you've been a big help. Maybe I can actually be done by 11 pm. whoo hoo
ta 4/4 - let me know if you need another clue
ta 4/4 if you have ta4/6x3
This is my first post, but I wanted to say that I finally finished my first Babble!!! I think my hubby is quietly rejoicing now. Wow, never thought it would happen :)
That's to say, it's the first time I've actually managed to find all the words :)
hint to the co4/8 that comes after Ms Chanel'. congratulations Sproing
Sproing, congrats! I've been playing about 2 1/2 weeks and aim for getting half the words!
co4/8 - similar to one of your lo4/7
Thanks!!! Mind you, I've been at it virtually non-stop since I got back from work...
DONE!!!!!
Oh lord that last one was so obvious. I think I always end with an obvious one. Thank you all. I don't think I usually ask for so much help. Tired tonight. Can I help before I head out? BIG CONGRATS SPROING
oh well, must head to bed, missing two. *sigh*
Still can't get co/8
I tell you, if I 'show all messages' my computer is very slow and constantly hanging up and I have to wait for it. very frustrating. I haven't joined yet as a pro - afraid to feed the addiction. If I pay $ then I can't quit! lol
Glad you got it done - I never finish this early either! Although eariler in the week I finished in the afternoon and had nothing to do once my family went to bed! Congrats Sproing!
I think it was worth it for $10 to get the grid - it is so much easier to track what you need.
munner - it is an L6 with a prefix that might mean you and your friend both do it
Co8 -- add a couple of letters to the front of lo6/24
lbdawger - don't give up yet - what do you need?
I'm sure I will end up joining.... it certainly is cheap... just trying to stave off the addiction.
My ex in Liverpool introduced me to this about two weeks ago -- he's dead when I next see him!
Y'all are assuming I have l6/24 :)
munner - the L6. when you find something you lo.... it
If you have lo4/6 then lo6 is an extension
hugs to Jax!
my husband showed it to me but he doesn't play. he is bummed now because we used to play scrabble at least 5 nights a week. he is afraid to play me now because I have learned so many words. we have to find a new game after 13 years. kinda sad. but I'll live.... he he
congrats Munner!
66 words and 977 is good enough for my frazzled chemotherapy brain. Nite all.
Night night everyone :)
I'm heading out too. night all and thanks so much
My husband doesn;t get the addiction at all - he is not really a word person - he'll wander through as I'm laughing at something in the chat log and roll his eyes before wandering away again
Sproing... love your linux penguin!!
How is everyone this fine evening... less than 2 hours till new puzzle!! (not that I'm addicted or anything...)
Hi Jera - Me too - it's almost disappointing to finish early and have to wait for the new puzzle to post!
Did you finish, cbr? Yay for you!
Since I spent an hour at work playing Babble - I would have felt terrible if I hadn;t!
Well what do you think they pay you for... actually working?? I had to take a break & build some shelves or I'd have gotten in trouble!
missing the one c after co 8/60 , co4/8 and before co4/9, co 4/6...any clues? I have the complete list of c's and my brain is also frazzled, even after the long weekend...
PAV, I think you need co5/24... what do you get when you cross a sofa with a barnyard animal (the one that gives milk)?
Pav - what do you say when you tickle a baby under the chin - co---y, co---y coo.
dum de dum... had to pop to work for a little while, and thought i would pop my head in here now i am back home!
Hey cathy!
I'm just hanging out waiting for pain meds to kick in before bed...
hey hey... fleetingly thought i should go to bed... but maybe in a bit
i hear ya, jera... lol... like that bit of rhyme?
I'm also keeping an eye on some eBay auctions that are ending soon...
anyway... since i drove to maine and back (1600 miles in total).. i have had a touch of sciatica so have been taking pain meds myself
I am trying to drive as little as possible what with gas through the roof... I remember being shocked when it broke $1.00...
i know.. it's awful... although in england they pay close to $7 a gallon, so it keeps it in perspective for me. vacation was planned, so there was no way i wasn't going!
Sorry Dianne, I am blissfully wo/children...not that child rearing is anything terrible...just not for me...too much babysitting as a youngster inthe old days when kids really did take care of other kids...I'll try not to have too many soapboxes...this is supposed to be fun!!
Yikes, guess I'll shut up now... I used to go driving for fun... no more...
I walk away for five minutes and everyone shows up!
PAV, did you not like my riddle??
Yeah, we were waiting for you to leave so we could talk about you, cbr... ;>
lol
Pav - was there a movie "Truner and H------"? Well it rhymes with that.
I wish there was something exciting to talk about!
we could talk about mullets.................
Well, I am excited Fall is nearly here! I have a big celebration planned to coincide with my son's 4th birthday!
You had to bring up that old boyfriend huh? How embarassing!
sounds good, jera... when is his birthday?
lol cbr... in the context of fish alongside it, it was very funny!!!
Glad I'm good for something !
Dianne...et al....duh! I am sooooooo out of it......thanks...that last one got it for me...perhaps I should pick a child up sometime....last one was 8 years ago and my niece left her liquid lunch on my nice suit.....
Pav - glad you got it. I'll remember to leave out any baby clues in the future :)
ok - enough's enough. i must go to sleep.... make myself nice and refreshed for another day of brain-bashing babble tomorrow!!! nighty-night!
What are you doing for the party Jera? It must be something crafty
Well, he likes dinosaurs, so we are doing that for the kids... just grilling & enjoying my big back yard.
Sounds fun - that's a great age - my sons are 7 and 8
Cya cathy... sure you won't hang around another hour for the new puzzle??
My daughter is 9 1/2 & really excited about the new season, she really enjoys preparing for the rituals... especially the feasting!
actually, i was trying to... am reading the bbc online, but running out of news i haven't already read!
my son is 11 and a half and loves being 'like the American boys'
Mabon/Harvest Home is really excellent for the foods... we grew our own pumpkins this year, from seeds from last year's jack-o-lantern, which is pretty exciting.
You recently moved, cathy, if I recall correctly? I see you have an American flag, but you have English flavor...
Sound fun, Jera - In high school, we used to visit Ravenwood, a witches coven here in Atlanta and learn about Mother Earth and all that stuff - it was pretty cool - I have to admit I don't remember much though
i moved here from england almost exactly 2 years ago... so there's the flavour!
How cool! We call our place RavenOaks. Not a real coven, I'm solitary, but a nice wooded back yard needs to be named!
.......brought my cat with me too (she meows with an english accent)
I am of Scottish descent, so I hope to cross the Atlantic someday!
LOL!
cbr, they have a new thing as an alternative to the straight-laced Boy Scouts... it's called Spiral Scouts. I am thinking of putting my son in next year.
He's so funny, when he heard some talk about duty to God, he turned to me & said, "But Mommy... which one??" I hurt myself not laughing!
I haven't heard of that - my kids have done Boy Scouts - I'll have to look into it - mine are big soccer players so it's hard to get them too excited about anything else
Pretty hilarious - one day we wer talking about someone who died and my children just started talking about how people come back as someone else after they die - 5 and 6 year olds talking about reincarnation - kids are too funny
We do soccer here, too, plus fencing... Gwyd is interested in lacrosse next year (wants to be different from Sissy)
We don;t really have fencing here too much but I do have a friend that is a fencing coach - I know we don't have lacrosse - this is the South - football and baseball are really big
I love his name by the way - very romance novel-like - the girls will be swooning!
We are sorta south... Virginia... but close enough to DC to be a bit cosmopolitan at times. Takes about half an hour to get to fencing, depending on traffic.
LOL, Gwydion RavenEyes Shadowdancer... quite romantic indeed... he was born just after 9-11, hence the RavenEyes
Well, I'm getting a booty call, so I'm gonna leave for awhile... might check back for new puzzle, depedns on how much fun I have, LOL!
Love it - have a great time!
Thanks all...finished another one....I'll wait if anyone needs help....than must take the pooch for her walk...
