It is sooo quiet on the chat tonight ??? is anyone out there ??
i'm here, blaze... just not that used to the grid yet.
there's no getting used to it.... it grows on you...
heh. i hope so!
I'm here Blaze... trying to find that c7/56
and just got it
Good luck on that...when you find it send a clue out west here....
hugabugs, cool! care to share?
Can anyone tell me - how is it decided what words are "valid"? This grid won't accept "ancho". Is it only official Scrabble words?
there's a few words in the same area.... but this specific one is pl of c6/39 - ny of various structures, such as the external ear, that resemble a shell in shape Think seashells
hugs, hugabugs! got 'em!
good clue hugs, got it straight off, thanks
:o) glad I could help!
Hug a bugs thank you.... how are things in WPG ??
c 7/56 x3
r8/50
carmonli - according to the rules section, only words found in the Enable Dictionary are "official" in this grid.
it does eem to vary just slightly from the scrabble dictionaries i'm familiar with.
er, "does seem"
geez... I want to put phonics in so badly
Me tooo
I want it to accept "Ronco". "As seen on TV!"
Or Oprah! As seen on TV!
Actually, Babble has literally replaced TV for me! (My TV died.)
I hav e 3 of the foru q's any hints on # 4 4/8 6/30 5/18
q7/44
its plural of the 6
pl. your q6
Cmith - any clues on those other 2 c7/56's? Where in Canada are you from?
thank you I again was off in the other direction to make words... thank you
other c7/56 think of sharing a meeting the root word c 5/20
m7/36
Blaze - okay, got that one... and the third?
c 7/56 mouth lesion
oh, we had that the other day, didn't we?
think is am being really thick with the 'meeting' c7. I have the root i think but can't finish it. Duh!
yep and I am in NS
Emma - try starting it
so we got Canada covered coast to coast!
llike a vice president but more informal
I probably didn't get it the other day either :(
Emmac: if you lead a meeting you are the ch 7. If someone else leads the meeting with you, the both of you are c*ch7s.
hug we had the mouth lesion word on the 10th of Sept
Thanks FMitch. I'm in awe of you all - I think I'm pretty literate, and can only get about 1/3 of the words!
Thank you thank you. Got it. Right now I can have a shower and get ready for work. Have a good babbling day.
I mean the ch5; add two ltrs to get c7. Okay?
Carmonli.... it takes time to get the groove of the grid, the chat and some of the bizarre words.. It is really fun stick around. :o)
The groove of the grid - LOL. Is there a secret for communing with it...?
Dust off your Ouji board.
yea, pray a lot and hope you find those really obscure words before you realise you have spent all day looking for a word that doen't exist OL
No, seriously - I feel like I'm hitting the wall and don't know what else to try. It gets to the point where it is frustrating, not fun. What sort of techniques do you use, if you don't mind answering?
Blaze - thanks... I went and viewed my list.
when desperate go to www.a2zwordfinder/scrabble.html
i used to read the dictionary
It is frustrating at first ... but... the words are all there. the fun part comes from the chat and the clues... on the Pro babbel we have the grid with the word count per letter on the grid....and a count down for the words we have found... It really is fun...
I still read the dictionary to find words that I have either forgotten or do not know about... I love the currency from other country ones.
No pancho, how disappointing.. :-(
time to get ready for work, have fun guys and see you soon Im sure!
No nancho either
Fmitch have a great day
thanks for the advice. Maybe I'll break 1000 points today :)
Ah, but there are some tasty treats...
Often - very often - I just type various combinations until I stumble upon the word. Usually, we have a list of how many words per letter, but our comrade has been a bit under the weather recently.
Got the 4 Qs!
See you are a Babbler....
I've been called worse... :)
did any one see the e 7 for 44 yet?
not I
keep"asking"
onyx - you should "ask" someone about it
onyx - yep I got it
onyx yea - at 12:06
and why won't it take the er formof the word?
very good question, I was wondering that myself
thanks for all the great clues, they are stopping me from working!
May I have a clue for the E7/44 TIA
so who wants to work anyway?
Hello Jaydee
Blaze "ask about something"
onyx - noticed that too - probably because it is a varient of the in form of the word
E 7/44 eloudes me at the moment... I will go to another letter for now.... maybe it will pop later.
Blaze 2nd letter is n
Blaze if you ask about something, what are you doing?
Fmitch..... that is the direction i needed thank you
National En* ... maybe that's why it won't take the 'er'
couldn't leave a fellow babbler in trouble, gotta go now byeee
Fmitch have a good one see you tomorrow
what do the 8 letter words begin with please?
I have only seen one R8/50 posted
I've only found the 1. It's an r8/50
Brandy jack is not about tonight and there is not a letter count yet... do you need one ??

I'm only teasing! I've been happily married for 23 years so I know what really counts in a man.

Wendrie - what's your 3rd s6 - I've got the two extensions of the 5/20??

more Mexican food!
Hi evanadine, didn't know they had profiles on here, I live in Waldorf, probably about an hour south of you.
Minski- lol! I just keep reminding myself that the target would be double or triple if I could make those almost words :)
Lola: care to provide a hint for the op 5/20?
it isn't over until the fat lady sings.
that was a hint for the 5/20
sueb- plural of op4/9 :)
minski- the fat lady is an op5/14 :)
oops sorry that was the 5/14
lola: hahahah I don't have the op 4/9 either :D No worries
can't read with squirming baby in my lap while typing one handed
wow, why did that double post? sorry all
Got it lola thx
Suebee, it proably didn't .. refresh your browser.
sueb- only double posting on your screen, refresh and it'll go away. op4/4: a large, oval shaped, vividly coloured marine fish.
Aaargh- that def was for the op4/9 NOT op4/4 of which there is none!
the refresh did it :)
Why isn't NONI counted? :-(
Howdly doodly, Babblers.
Hello, Judi!
Hi Judi :)
How about a clue for in6/30?
mickie- salary :)
Thanks, now at least I know what I'm looking for!
Right, let's see how many words I can find between work and dinner ;)
Hi all. Could use a hand on the Q4 and Q6? pretty please??
oh wait, just babbled up the q4
Anyone have a list of the e's?
em 4 6 en 7 44 eo 6 18 ep 4 9 ep 4 8 ep 5 18 er 4 4
and just found the q6. never mind :-P
thx lola, you've been excellent help to me today :D
You're welcome sueb :)
That's okay... you can give the rest of us the clue for the Q6.
Missing (sounding like stuck record!) 2 M's, can anyone help? me 6 24 me 7 36 mi 4 6 mo 4 6 mo 5 24 mo 5 14 mo 5 14 mo 4 6 mo 5 14 mo 4 6 mo 4 6

Thanks munner and mickie :) How are you doing today, munner?
Do-oh! Kept trying to make that mi but thought I couldn't!
Lola... why does nachos keep showing up on my screen when I know its not there!
mtn- look again ;)
LOL... I did that with goatee as well... I should just shut up
mtnjock... it is hiding :)
Sorry all, didn't mean to...
nm, happens to the best of us ;)
LOL! Yesterday we had beer, maybe we should have a big babble party!
After we've been to the O5 then. Deal!
LOL! yes, culture first, booze and fattening food afterwards :)
hey, its the first time I have played with a Qu that queer wasn't the grid! But I am still looking for today's dirty word...
turn my back for 2 min and there's a zillion more posts! Q6 ... ancient grain (have a box of it sitting on my counter!)
Darleen- cool, bring some to the party!
Yes, the chat is lively these days. I like it, actually :)
DarleenMB - I love that stuff! I have some in my cupboard! ;-)
Tasty, isn't it Jo? SIL made a salad with black beans and cilantro and tomatos and the q6. yummy.
party? eh? whaddid I miss?
If I ate more nanochocs I wouldn't be so big :)
The problem tho' is that you need to eat more of them...
That's too true...
Okay, all this party planning is fun but I still can't find that mo6/24. Could someone give me a gentle shove?!
Greetings and salutations, fellow Babblers!
Hi Jera :)
lola - If sprite eats too many of those nanochocs, she might become this due to a stomach ache. It builds from an M4.
Canna believe chocs isn't a word!!
Lola, add 2 letters to the mo4/4
Sorry I meant mo4/6
There are other yummy things, tho'...
Do-oh (again!). Thanks everyone. It's days like this I wonder why I'm bothering.....
...for the pleasure of my company, perhaps ;)
to beat Judi to it... 'there'd be days like this, my momma said"..
That gives me a start every time... my daughter is called Sprite (short for MoonSprite)
Hi sweetie :) Did you have a mo5/24 for me?
mtn- sing louder, I'll turn my music off! Jera- was the first word I tried....*sigh*
lola did you get the mi6/24?
Not that we obsess about brown foods or anything...
Yes...with choccy sprinkling too :) This one looks a bit innocuous but I sense a sting in the tail :/
mtn- yes. Didn't you hear the forehead slapping?!
thats what the noise was...
Halfway through in an hour... not bad...
Anj, so far so good, but I am ignoring the C's for now!
Good idea. I've just been jumping about the grid. Nailed about 80 in the hour I was on earlier but they're beginning to play hard to get now :(
Hi all :) Hi Lola, well tonight is THE night and didn`t Baggo make your day? She sure made mine ;o)
Hoochie Coochie... I see Charo.
Jera, I guess with your daughter's beautiful name you are the only one who understands my nick :) All the rest associates me with soft drinks.
I was thinking more of a pixie...
Hello lotti! I was wondering where my partner in crime was! You shoulda been here girl, Anj was the cowboy, took me hours to find my last few words!!!
Hi Lotti, Hi Jera, Hi everyone :) Sorry about that...had to wait for the vanilla coffee to activate lol
Great company here, thanks mtnjock :)
One of my favorite wordes... in5/10...
sprite - I also thought along the lines of pixie; but definitely mischievous! :)
Oh, there's a soft drink? JK... Sprite loves to sing that commercial... she thinks it's about her...
I take mischievous over softdrinks anyday! LOL
Whoooooo, thats a knee trembler!!!! Glad i wasn`t here i`m too easily distracted:) I read the posts and noticed he`s lacking some love and affection too!!!!!!!!!
It's funny - one of my dogs is named Sprite - I also chose it because she looked like a little pixie - but everyone thinks it's because of the pop (soda, for those of you not in the Midwest) :)
Herself is convinced is convince we have fairies in the backyard... makes them little houses & sets out food...
How old is she, Jera? She sounds like a great kid!
Hey Anj i want vanilla coffee.....I`m here with a Nescafe:]
lotti- are you talking about the posts from yesterday or today? (OR are you just trying to stir things up...?)
C4/9 is one of my favorites!
There's my Dobby! Hi, Refinnej.
From today Lola it looks more like Anj and Baggo were stirring things up!!!!!! I don`t do things like that LOL
step back all, lightnings about to strike lotti
9 1/2, but very fanciful & artistic. Still believes deeply in magic & goodness!
'course not lotti... :)
Jera, I hope she will keep that faith!
What you sayin mtn!!!!!!! My kids would say liar liar bums on fire!!!!
Hi! Please can anybody explain how do you know the maximum numbers of words you might get? Thanks in advance!!!!
Does anyone have a full breakdown of the Q's? Also, clue for Q6?
lol Lotti...I was just trotting blithely thru' the minefield of life. The fun about stepping on one is that you never know where you're going to land next :)
qu 4 8 qu 6 30 qu 7 44 qu 5 18
With my spiritual path, she will probably keep it longer than most, if not forever... it will be her own decision before too long!
Thanks, Lola.
Judi, the qu6 is the high-protein dried fruits and seeds of the goosefoot plant, used as a food staple and ground into flour. A-ha! I'm missing the qu7. Thank you Lola :)
That's wonderful, Jera. Looks like you have given her something really precious.
q6 - the seed of the Chenopodium or Goosefoot plant. It is used as a grain.
Ick. A Q6 was bad enough. Okay, now I need a clue for the Q7.
...plural of your Q6 :) Took me a while to twig that one... :(
humbly bowing before Anj (I had no, NO clue what grain everyone was speaking of)... Knowing that it could be pluralized made it easy!
mtnjock, you must try it. It's really quite good. You can get it at health food stores! ;-)
Looks like you need to borrow my goddess icon Anj!
are there any clues to the 8 letter words?
Hi Judi! I like posting just to see Dobby. :-D The Q6/7 grain is quite good - I tried it for the first time recently, though the bag had been sitting in my cupboard for over a year. ;)
Yes, the Q6 makes good pasta, too.
I just stumbled over re8, one who mends things...
...I'm not sure if I have the right curves Lo lol
Ok, no sooner did I post that I got the re8/50 one. How about the other?
Haha, no, maybe not!
You have a goddess icon, lola? I'm working on a new one...
Will people start throwing things if I post another "i'm missing 2..." message?
Yes jera, I put it on for Punster and he promises me lots of chocolate ;)
lola - If you post about C, N, P or R words I'll thank you. :D
could I get a clue to the eo 6/18
Lola, I'll throw you some nanochocs and cohair.
mtnjack- relating to an ion
okay, a typo free post: Mtnjock: relateing to an eon
What goddess is she? My current one is Cerridwen...
Anyas - I hate to tell you, but you spelled "relating" wrong.
Does anyone know what the other 8 is?
urrrgh!
LOL!
Okay, you asked for it! Any one know which 2 are missing? pa 4 6 pa 4 6 pa 4 6 pa 6 24 pa 4 6 pe 4 6 pe 4 6 pe 4 6 pe 4 6 ph 4 9 ph 7 48 pi 4 8 po 4 6 pr 4 6
no8/60 :)
I have a Ph5/20, though I am nowhere near finishing the Ps.
Thanks again, Lola! You have been my savior today!
jera- not sure, just googled her! I'm hoping she is the goddess of chocolate....will put her on next time we see Punster :)
That's okay, Anyas. We all make mistakes.
Ah, I see... a fun goddess, not a "real" one... good thing I didn't get crazy with Celtic history on ya... ;>
Isn't the goddess of chocolate Godiva?
Of course Judi, how could I forget?!
Can I have a clue for the N8?
Judi - legal activity :)
Judi: you are not bad when you do it.
can I get some help with en 7?
...you just did the en7 if i'm not mistaken ;)
OK, I'll go too. I'm missing 2 R words: ra 4 4 ra 5 20 ra 6 33 ra 7 48 ra 4 4 ra 4 6 re 4 6 re 4 4 re 6 24 re 8 50 re 4 6 ri 4 9 ri 4 6 ri 5 14 ri 4 6 ri 5 14 ro 4 4 ro 4 4 ro 4 6
98 words before dinner... so I'll be back. Later!
quina is a bark yielding quinine in the oxford dict:so why not valid
no, sniff that was the eo6, I have decided to tackle the vowels before lunch... LOL
Tandy - only words in the enable word list are valid, so that does sometimes mean valid words from other dictionaries are not accepted. It's a frustrating fact of babble life.
Oh dear. The wheels are coming off. I keep missing words 'cos i'm looking in the wrong direction :(
LOL! thanks refinnej, how'd you know that was going to be my next question?!
mtnjock - Anj's post was a clue for the en7, and was not referring to your questions about the eo6 at all. ;)
mtn- Anj was being cryptic. Think "to ask" :)
lola - I do know that both of my missing r words are from the top row. If yours are not, maybe we can get somewhere. :)
thanks, I finished the q's so I ignored it... silly me
what is the "enable" list referred to? can we access it?
ref- give me a minute to check :)
refine there is a ra6/24
should have referenced brandyjack's list before writing it off...
where do you find the enable word list
...thanks mum. Ah, the ol' trusty eo6 is in again. That one is getting to be an old friend, just like the water buffalo
Thanks sandbox. The enable word list is a standard used by some game entities, and probably others. I know I found it once a while back by doing a google search, but it took a while to get the actual list. I finally found it somewhere in text or MSWord format. It's a huuuuuuge list.
You can choose to look up words in the Enable Scabble dictionary at http://www.puzzlers.org/wordlists/grepdict.php (it's a good place to go when you're getting desperate).
thanks refinnej but have just lost the will to live after reading that
ref- the only one I have that you don't is that ra6/24: bitter, long lasting resentment. (that was the def, not how I feel about the R's!)
Yeah, done with the e's, i's ... now onto the o's
Yeah, I found that one right away with the length/score. They seem to become so obvious then. :) I'll keep looking for the other, and the last p too.
Ooh, that's a good word, lola... another one of my favorites...
jera- one of my favourites is "inept". Nothing beats using that in a sentence!
How about wurlitzer??
Breaking for lunch. You kids behave.
Aaargh- have to go for a while. Toddler is creating mayhem, non-babblers will want food, *sigh*, see you later :)
found the last r... re5/10.... proteolytic enzyme whew!
what do you push to refresh your screen
e-gurl f5
can I get a clue to the op5/20?
mtn jock - op5/20 it is plural of what Greeks yell in bars when they are smashing glasses! (Or it is a fish)
the plural of a famous black female talk show hostess without one of the middle letters of her name
Thanks guys, I had that, which one am I missing? oc 4 6 om 4 6 op 4 9 op 5 20 op 4 6 op 5 14 or 4 6 or 5 14 or 5 14 or 6/33
op6/39
Sorry - or6/39
thanks CBR, that helped a lot!
hint for the OR 6/39 please?
Minski, having to do with the mythical ancient greek musician who went to the underworld to retrieve his wife
minski pertaining to a mythical greek poet who had the power to entrance beasts
OMG! That actually helped and I found the word! I think I've been playing this game for too long. Baby up from nap. Time to go for now. See y'all later.

Has anyone posted a list of the c's?
Nice work, refinnej!
wd refine
It's a long list, so more room for typos, but I think this is correct: ca 5 14 ca 4 9 ch 5 20 ch 6 33 ch 5 20 ch 7 56 ch 4 9 ch 4 11 ch 5 24 ch 4 9 ch 5 20 ch 4 11 ch 5 24 ch 6 39 ch 5 24 ch 4 11 ch 5 20 ch 5 24 ch 4 9 ci 4 6 co 5 24 co 4 8 co 5 18 co 7 56 co 4 8 co 5 18 co 4 6 co 6 24 co 4 6 co 4 8 co 5 18 co 5 24 co 6 39 co 7 56 co 6 39 co 4 6 co 5 14 co 6 24 co 4 6 co 5 14 co 5 14 co 4 8 co 4 6 co 6 24 co 6 24 co 7 36 co 4 9 cr 5 18 cr 5 14

sorry blaze, not that far yet..worked last night, just got up. I do have to tell you all that after the whale yesterday, last night i got on and for awhile had no chat log, thought dr_g was punishing me, but then it came back..thank goodness...
No chat log ??? that would be awful... it makes the game more of a happy place....
thought i was being punished...
Thanks Baggo, I have found it now, I have been ages looking for this one.
Who was looking for the enable word list ??
Does anyone have the E list handy, please?
Has there been a second letter complete list posted yet ?? :o)
The 7s are unlucky for me today. Not finding many at all. Need: C7-36 C7-56 x 2 (have one) E7-44 H7-40 M7-36 P7-48 Clues would be much appreciated.
judi which two of c7's do you have??
two c 7/56 one is like a shell...... add letters the other CLUE: sharing a meeting
Here you go, Jera :) em4/6 en7/44 eo6/18 ep4/9 ep4/8 ep5/18 er4/4
E 7/44 "what you do when you ask something"
the other is a sore in one's mouth ch/7
M 7/36 type of sheep (very expenseive wool)
Baggo - I have the sharing the meeting C7. I thought there was 3 C7s.
i7/44 the one who brings home the money in the household
Judi I have 3 c7/56s: some shells; to be half of the presiding team of a committee; and the mouth sore
Judi one is a mouth sore...(used in puzzle 09/10) one is the meeting name the other think shell...then add letters....part of the ear anatomy
could I get a clue for p7/44 Please
Judi, think facade, fake, PH***, only more so..
I meant you Blaze, sorry...
Blaze - it's p7/48 - more fake Any clues for the h7/40?
Baggoo is that a butt.??
Gosh Baggo you`ve changed
okay here are the 7's (sorry for reposts) ch7/56 mouth sore co7/56 help with a meeting co7/57 shells co7/36 Trite, dated, melodramatic, or mawkishly sentimental en7/44 to ask h7/40 reverence i7/44 one who brings money home in household m7/36 wool no7 think of debit card p7/48 more fake r7/48 A hut or group of huts on a big farm or a cattle r.. s7/48 what you would do to a knife.. q7/44 The high-protein dried fruits and seeds of this plant, used as a food staple and ground into flour.
Thanks to all for help on the 7's. I'm down to just two now. Need C7-36 and H7-40.
thanks for the ph clue
had to do something to make blaze laugh...
and i am .... after the shock ROFLOL %%%
Judi did you get the c7 that is to be one half of the presiding team on a committee? has to do with seating.
Oops. Thanks, Baggo. We posted at the same time.
Have all the 7's now, thanks.
the I 7/44 word clue.... I can not find "taxed to the max'
blaze do you have the i6/30 which is what the salary you make is called. the i7 would be the one who brings it home...
Blaze, think of when someone is replaced by someone else. One's an "outgoer" and the other is an i7
i7 = opposite of "outgoer".
Got the I 7.... I kept looking for the M and it did not seem to connect itself.... it's the babbler in me... Iam off for a coffee now
Baggo, the salary I make is "insignificant", but that's a 13 letter word and sadly not the one Blaze is looking for.
Even with all the clues given I can't, for the life of me, figure out the mouth sore or the wool :\
So... how 'bout the 8s?
second letter distribution been posted yet?
lol judi...
sueb - take a chance and stick and extra letter in there... ;), make it add up.
Movie title in the puzzle today... Come back "Shane".
In what possible way is "enquirer" not a valid word?
sueb - the mouth sore has kind of a British spelling at the end -- and if you're American and into football, the M sounds like a former Miami quarterback...
suebhoney, the c7 that is the mouth sore looks like a c6 word (not in the grid) for "randomness" or "opportunity", with an extra letter just before the end
mtnjock: that was no help to me LOL.
Mouth sore word in 09/10 word list.... Enquirer is logo name not a word as in a dictionary...had this discussion last nite.
read the post below yours and get the clue ;) most of it should be in place now...
The Miami QB clue was awesome!!
He was my favorite... no.13 :)
Anj... sorry to ignore you, my phone rang... tyvm for the C's...
Maybe so, but I still think I was one when I posed the question!
Jera i thought you were looking for a godess too!!!!
I mean the E's... too early for evil C's right now...
Thanx Jera, but refinnej gets the credit for that. I was just the humble Es :)
No, I'm designing a new goddess icon for Mabon, but I have a week for that... today we have Coco from Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. My family was laughing at me earlier... I was hollering everytime I found a yummy co word
M7/36 - mohair is only wool I can think of and I know the quarterback you refer to but can't get the spelling to work out - any other clues?
Oh do you need imaginary friends? !!!! Is that why you play on here LOL?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
kristen alter the spelling, it's not exactly the same
kristin, it's me7 and it's plural :)
All my real friends have abandoned me... all I do is sit at my computer, alternating hysterical laughter & sobbing...
I'm missing the er4. Monkey typing getting me nowhere. Clue me, someone, please!
Jera I have a violin playing especially for you!!! ;)
Judi er4 is a sea eagle
Thanks, sfneil. That bastard bird gets me every time.
thanks anj and sueb - got it. I kept trying "mo" instead of "me" - I'd never have gotten it!
Heh. I only remember it because I have a cousin we call that.
Jera, don't forget the coffee & choccies :)
Yes... our favorite brown foods...
See ya later guys. Must go make (and eat) chilli!!!! Yum yum :o)
Okay, I'm being dense again... can't remember the infamous sea eagle or eo6/18 (don't hit me, Anj!)...
'Bye, lottijw! (Oh, man. Now I want chili!)
see ya lotti...
Lotti! triple fried egg, chili & chutney sandwhich :D
Baggo! hahahaha
that's a bit cheeky lol :D
Jera, sea eagle rhymes with "fern", eo6 is having to do with a period of time longer than an era
like it anj??? where's lola? still not as cool as yours
Is that 3 fried eggs or an egg fried 3 times?? ( I don't understand English food)
Hey Jera, i'm having one of those days as well :) sfneil has hit the spot with the er4 If you're still stuffed with the eo6, it's two 3 letter words: looooong time and man's name (that sounds like looooooong time) :)
ty sfneil... got the eagle... i have the first half of the eo6... how do I end it??
Jera if the period of time was a country, the eo6 would be one of its countrymen.
You're killing me baggo! Interesting fixation on bottoms.
no fixation, they just seem to be the thing that make people laugh...
baggo, baggo, baggo.......
Babble: spell your a** off!
Torgone, it's 3 fried eggs in one sandwich. It's the calorific equivalent of a neutron star and probably has the same effect on you lol
Baggo, talk of the devil }D
Yay, thanks, sfneil! Sorry for delay, my silly son pulled the dining room tablecloth off while he was (supposedly) taking his name. Unfortnately he hasn't mastered that particular magic trick yet...
I mean nap, not name, LOL!
Sounds good, Anj. I'll have one with a couple ESB's to wash it down.
Whatever happened to that homework girl?
Okay, I think I'm brave enough to tackle the I's... may I have a list, please?
ic4/9 ic4/6 in5/10 in6/18 in4/9 in6/30 in4/4 ir4/4 ir7/44 i got that off someone else so dont hold me to it!
hey lola...nice new icon...how go things... i'm a devil huh? nicest thing you've ever said anj...
Torgone, apparently the trick is to finish the sandwhich before the bread dissolves! It's all Red Dwarf's fault lol
baggo!!!! Luuuuuuuv your new icon!!!! VERY goddessy!!
Baggo ... I can almost recognize your icon ... give us a hint please
moon goddess...
You've gone very art deco now Baggo :) Lola, glad to see your tutu is back :D
Yes, reminds me of the Full Moon gathering I have this weekend! ;>
anj, much more my real self...and so appropriate since i stay up all night at work...
I guess the dictionary likes Mexican food and places, but not coats...?
plurple, Jera - the ir7/44 should be a n in7/44 after the in 6/30
baggo- nice! I logged back on just in time to see the face/butt. What on earth do you google to find those?!!! Anj- thanks babe, you really do like this one, don't you?
google image and butt you'd be suprised the pictures you can find there, just put in a topic...wow
ty... that would have driven me crazy sometime tonight (I know, short trip)...
torgone - perfect timing as i just got the 6 letter and was looking for the ir 7!! thanks saved me there
done
lol! Makes you realise what an odd place this world we live in is!

well, frell, Baggo, no wonder I was confused. I was still seeing the handsome guy LOL. Had to refresh the page to figure out what was going on.
yes it is. what would we do without the internet. my kids think i'm ancient cause i didn't grow up with it

anj... weren't you having that prob a day or so ago?
Almost time for my nap... wore myself out chatting instead of playing the game... you all are just toooooo entertaining!
Hi Cathy...yup. I just seem to go word blind now and then. It's probably the number of different combinations for root letters in the grid just blowing my fuses :(
know the feeling, anj.... can't see the wood for the trees type of thing
yup, this is one of those really deceiving boards - looks really easy at first glance, but then all of a udden everything just dries up.....

lola100 - sounds like monkey typing time!!!!
Is it happy hour yet?
Thank you ladies. Just what I needed :D
Lola, for all you know Anj could be an 63 year old pervert in a trenchcoat with inch thick glasses and two strands of hair stuck to his head... And Anj, Lola might be a nun indulging in a bit of escapism from the daily grind...
boysaway- how do you know we don't meet up after babbling?
kristin, did you mean cr5? If so, the other one means ten millions
Munner - good news comes in threes. You're bound to win the Lottery on Friday.

Yeah, i'm here, not for too much longer though, Lost will be coming on shortly. Bit of a toughy today, managed to get quite a few yesterday, but am slowing down now with 86!!!!
You prefer blondes then Anj?

Aah yes. I believe she was in roswell.
3:12 pm s4ndy bless you
baggo, you are a star! Thank you sooooo much :)
Dunny thats 16 more than we have got, better day yestarday
No, I prefer open, honest and empathic Lotti. What I GET is selfish, shallow and psychotic normally :'(
or how about the one that means brain or head..be back in a flash...
Lo, have you seen Roswell??
baggo, stop! I got it :)
Anj- no, I haven't actually. Believe it was quite good tho'. More worried about where you are meeting these awful women!
Oh bless.....I know it`s a bitch of a cliche, but you`re probably "too nice"! We are open and honest aren`t we Lola!?! And we think you`re Mr Wonderful!!!!!!
Dunny, good night going to try our new bath.
s4ndy thanks!
Thanx girls :) I guess I just attract that sort lol. It does make it increasingly harder to be able to trust someone tho' :/
Yeah, unfortunately you have to have some bad ones to find one good one!
I found a good one Hi girls
"some"? That's putting it bloody mildly lotti!
Hi mom! Love the new icon :)
Done with this self-abuse for today. See you all tomorrow.

It looks like Wol from Winnie the pooh!
e_gurl: I'll trade you an 8 letter word for some chocolate!

See ya tomorrow Lola, Anj and everyone else. Hope you get finished!!!!
I know, that's why i'm worried. I've hit the wall at N & O...haven't even looked closely at P, S & R yet. It's like my IQ has just discovered square roots :(
any other clue for re8/50 please
'Bye lotti- enjoy the boys and I'll see you tomorrow :)
nite lotti :)
re8/50 = a person who fixes things
'nite Lotti :) Cheers Lola...you've just given me the will to live :)
so the NO 8/60 works off of the CR 5/18 that is a bad person.
thank you Lola, now to work on it!
i just need help with re 8/50 i cant figure that clue out
the maytag guy is one of these - re8
Yes Minski the no is a cr that doesnt happen
minski- french word for no ( 3 letters) and cr5/18.
Any clues for the pa6/39?
just got the no8 - sounds like something from 1984!
I can't believe that's a word.
chris p- it is a pa4/6 (hurt) plus two letters.
chris p- think" ***** me, I must be dreaming" with an extra vowel :)
Has BrandyJack posted his breakdown list yet today?
Great clue lola!
any clues for pa6/39
Thanks lupe!
the q words are driving me nuts - are there really 4?
Thanks Lola - what a strange word!
e_gurl85 - see lola's last clue -
Only 100 words left to find! Sigh ... if only I could commit more time to Babbling! ;-)
I found 2 Q words but can't find the other 2
Yup! qu4/8, qu6/30, qu7/44 and qu5/18. The first three have the same root: think Dr *****, medicine woman :)
I"m missing all 13 7 letter words. Is there a list somewhere in the log?
The qu5/18 sounds like a whole bunch of people singing together.
thank you Lola....have done!!
e7/44, r7/48, s7/48, h7/40, c7/36, c7/56 x 3, p7/48, m7/36, i7/44, n7/48, q744
i dont get that clue
Well done kallia :)
thanks. found the last 2 Qs.
Anj- gotta go now, do you want me to come back and help you after lost?
Lola's other clue was: it is a pa4/6 (hurt) plus two letters
enjoy the show Lola see you soon :)
:'( I'm stranded on a psychological desert island of my own just now. This is a 'mare.... Don't come back if you don't want to. I'm going to beat this sucker }/
e_gurl85 think a P**** of salt and go with the rest of lolas' clue
Any help on no6/30 and no7/48? Thanks!!
cheers, found my missing q's - sometimes the most obscure words in the entire world sometimes come babbling to the surface....
Anj- take a break, have some coffee and I'll be back in an hour ;)
thats the spirt Anj!
sfneil - no6 - not money no7 - not illegal
sfneil - no7/48 think of having no money. no6/30 - abbreviated form of noncomissioned officer.
Oh i'm a dork! i already had those, but thanks!
Thanks Chris
TY Chris
Cheers Lola, Kallia :) I've sussed out the problem. My brain can't seem to handle wordss where the same chain of root letters go in different directions. It's like binocular dyslexia...I see the letters but I don't make the connection. I think I need 3 shredded wheat lol
I'm off. Baby woke up. More torchure later.
anj - I have the same prob - the other day I didnt get 'dealt' bcos I thought of it like 'de-alt', and that not a word!
Go for it Anj...think that was my problem with the n's...too many options to start from meant word blindness,,,when I had the list and slowed down ait wasn't that bad :)
Would you like a list of the O's?
can you manage 3?
2nd letter - part 2 na5/20 na6/33 na5/14 na4/4 na4/4 na4/6 na5/14 ne4/6 ne4/4 ni4/4 ni5/10 no4/4 no4/6 no4/4 no5/10 no7/48 no6/30 no8/60 no6/24 no4/4 no5/10 no4/6 no4/7 no4/4 oc4/6 om4/6 op4/9 op5/20 op4/6 op5/14 or4/6 or5/14 or5/14 or6/33 or6/39 pa4/6 pa6/39 pa4/6 pa4/6 pa6/24 pa4/6 pe4/6 pe4/6 pe4/6 pe4/6 ph4/9 ph7/48 ph5/20 pi4/8 po4/6 pr4/6 qu4/8 qu6/30 qu7/44 qu5/18 ra4/4 ra5/20 ra6/33 ra7/48 ra6/24 ra4/4 ra4/6 re4/6 re4/4 re5/10 re6/24 re8/50 re4/6 ri4/9 ri4/6 ri5/14 ri4/6 ri5/14 ro4/4 ro4/4 ro4/6 sh6/27 sh5/20 sh6/33 sh6/33 sh5/16 sh5/20 sh7/48 sh4/9 sh5/16 so5/10
Kallia, I very much would!
evening dachef - going to help a liitle old taffy with the q words?
thanks s4ndy
S4Andy has just posted it!
Why is this grid such a pain today? I can't seem to make any headway but at least others are struggling as well. I'm comforted by the prospect of watching Apprentice USA and trying to work out, once again, how Donald Trump manages to get his hair to look like that!
thanks, s4ndy!
see I saw an A is S4ndy's name!! lol this game addles the brain sometimes!
sfneil - kept you waitin an hour thought that was long enough
hint for the na5/14, pretty please?
na5/14 - sounds like part of the male anatomy
na5/14 mother of pearl :)
Thanks, Kallia!! s4ndy what part does that sound like??
Thanks for the support Kallia. I can't make up my mind whether i'm Sisyphus or Prometheus at the mo. Either way I can't seem to move on lol
sorry - a scottish slang term for the testes
oh -- never heard that before!
well of to read ...any help before i go?
are you still there snowyowl
I need a or5/14 ! I have the marine mammals.
sfneil...think french for sea
Oh nice one CATHB - I love it -'Cath the magic dragon, lived by the sea'! perfect. Now you've started something
Thanks Kallia, but i'm a basket case tonight lol. Go and enjoy your book :)
I am so confused at this game! And I have To Do It for HOMEWORK!! argh! I have to get atleast 20 I am just getting in some practice here! I have to do the homework tommorrow and hand it in the next day! ARGH!!!!! Is there anyway someone could give me some hints and tips that i will understand? I kno how to play just dont understand all your codes lyk st4 lyk deres a st word which has a value of 4 - i dnt understand english very well and im english! im dumb but HELP! plz
or if not this is the def: An abalone, especially of the species Haliotis tuberculata, found chiefly in the Channel Islands.
thanks, Kallia!
Hey CATHB think we could get the Bumbles of Mumbles on line?
st4 means it's an ST word with a length of 4 st4/5 means an ST word, 4 letters, with a score of 5.
think we are all basket cases Anj lol. Nite nite see you tomorrow I expect :)
thought you may like it snowy - we started something with the owl....had such a bad day today that my poor frazzled brain cant find any words so went icon hunting instead
ty brandyjack!
Let me add to the confusion. "st4/8" means you should look for a word that starts with the letters "ST" and the word is 8 letters long. Does that help?
y do these messages come up so many times?

Can some one tell me why my message comes up so many times?
lozzi, it's your browser. Try setting for only the last 50 messages and refresh...
Woohoo! Done! I'll stick around a bit in case I can help anyone.
Meant to say, I don't calculate the scores on these. Is generated by a program and 20 lines of code was enough. Besides, don't want to make it too esy for people. This game isn't about winning, it's about the challenge.....
Well said, jack. Thank you for your wonderful lists.
im only 13 ! i dont know how to do that! do i click refresh? i think i should just give up on this game im useless! id prefer 2 b out play footi!
r u still out there xox_lozzi_xox ?
Hang in there Lozzi. Yes, just click the refresh button on your browser. That should do the trick for you.
gem gem? eloo
May I have a clue for the no6/24? It's my last n. Thanks much!
xox_lozzi_xox it's always easy to find words yourself and then when you get stuck start looking at clues...at least it's easier for me
lozzi don't give up. This grid is really fiddly but if you take a very big breath you will find 20 words. Tonight most of us would prefer to be out playing footie. Even me and I'm really old and unfit and I hate footie!
i just got fustrated and made up a word (so i thought) and its a real word! wooo!
Well there you go! Now you're a real Babbler!!
melissamay - when you play golf you are trying to score this on each hole, but if you get more or less, then it is no****
melissamay, think "not a good score at golf"
itz 10:43 in UK i shud b asleep but im bored so lets play babble!
lozzi - there are lots of words to find that way. Just let your eyes wander over the grid seeing combinations of letters.
i supose atleast i dnt av 2 try and find antidisestablishmentarianism
just think what a score that would be !
...now that's not to be said with a mouthful of cake lol
2nd longest word the longest iz flocci.... i cnt spell that i ust learnt how 2 spell antidisestablishmentarianism!
lozzie - you are not related to becky by any chance?
that was the word I used to use to convince my mother I wasn't drunk. It never worked!
hmm hmm hmm hold on i av 3 cuzins called becky / relatives so waats dere name
Doh! Thanks sfneil! Love the icon, too.
Thanks, MelissaMay!
any1 got any clues for the ch7/56 - been trying to do it for the last three cups of coffee!
sorry lozzi that was a rhetorical question. Your style of writing is very similar to someone named becky who used to post in here
Ouch! I just walked in2 a shelf... but im happy i have my highest score ever! i found 5 words! woo yesterday it was 4 im sooo happy! 1 i made up i think :S
ch7/56 insensitive lesion
Dachef its a word that was in an earlier puzzle, its a type of sore you could get on your mouth and sounds a little like a star sign
chef, it's a lesion or sore on the mouth. Looks like a c6 word (not in the grid) for "randomness" or "opportunity", with an extra letter stuck in just before the end
dachef - a mouth lesion
....like a cold sore, dachef. Quaint spelling.
Dachef - and Abba song Take a Ch..... but add a letter penultimate letter of that word
gem_gem i fink ur ma gurlie frend 4rm skool i tink.. if not elo neways!!! u can tel itz me by this statement..im not eatin ne food nemore! no food for me til i loose atleast 1 stone!
lottie a couple of clues for you. Old people drink this before going to bed. If you went on a school trip you are usually transported in one of these and it isn't a bus or a train
Kind of sounds like that famous sitarist, Ravi _______
ChrisP, I didn't see your very thorough answer below, so thanks to you as well! What a puzzle, eh?
i got da transport clue ty but i dnt get wat old ppl drink.. ! i dnt kno ne old ppl... i think :S
lozzi think a kind of cereal ****pops
snowyowl - i'm giving up now -bedtime.speak to everyone tomorrow

Lola! 7 to go. I'm past the brain block blues and into the realms of literary hysteria now lmao :')
Yay!!! Need any help or should I just wait at the finish line with a towel?
oggy A cr5/18 that did not take place.
no8/60: think french for no (3 letters) and a cr518.
The towel sounds great babe :) Might need a wee nudge in a mo tho'

the second sh6/33 is the same as the first except the last letter
Hi jera :) sh6/33- they are both the same just different last letter. sh6/27: think sh and what we breathe and a consonant.
goodnight dachef :)
q7 can anyone help please
q7 is plural of q6
ren8- the qu7 is a plural of the qu6/30 :)
HELP HELP HELP! I NEED 5 MORE WORDS 4 MY HOMEWORK!! ANY CLUES THAT I CAN UNDERSTAND THATS NOT ST4/33 or SUMTHING LYK THAT PLZ PLZ PLZ!
Hmmm... got the 27... don't see ow to bend it to a 6 ending...

No jera- the sh6/33 words are the same as each other apart from the last letter :)
... :')
lozzi, there's a four-letter word that starts with "c" that means "bloke" -- did you get that one?
tears of joy or sorrow babe?
lozzi- do you have fish and ****s ?
ok... back to the battle
lozzi have you got the fruit of an oak tree? It starts with a and has 5 letters.
Yay! Thanks, lola!
You're welcome jera :) Feeling better?

Okay, I give up how to pluralize this crazy word... help with qu7/44, please?
What about the sound that a lion makes?
and whats left when you eat an apple C***
Joy babe :) Thanx for all the help. Couldn't have got there without you today (((xx))) My icon has something for you ;)
gosh.. it's so hot and humid
jera- go the other way!!!!! Go down instead of across and up!
don't know why it won't take nano
Okay, double-checking... qu7/44 is the plural of qu6/30?? And I add a letter to pluralize???
Aaaaw, thanks Anj! Don't know if you remember but you helped me finish my first puzzle at 2:30 in the morning, so just returning the favour :)
Hmm i dont understand this but i still need 2 more and i just refreshed the page
That's correct, Jera. Standard plural form.
Yes Jera - Ithink its this puzzle. I've sat here for hours getting nowhere - buts its better than ironing
lozzi, do you have the parptridge in a **** tree?
jera- yes! There are two ways to do the oa. Across and up or down to the right.
Ohhhhhhhhh... aaaaaaalll the way over to the "standard plural form"... the light breaks through at last... tyvm!
Lozzi have you got 'when a pencil is broken you sh****** it'
I'm taking my meds early after that one... it MIGHT help... or make things worse, who knows...
jera- will probably help, anything to numb the pain that was this grid!
lol, Jera! glad you got it. Was it Anj that was talking earlier about how, once you've branched off in one direction, it's hard to see that the other direction is a possibility, too? Happens to me all the time.
I dunno, the numbness might not help... it makes me sleepy...
Just gave the baby a bath and put her to bed. How could something so cute be such an incredible pain in the a**?
Right fellow babblers, I must be off to the land of nod. See you all tomorrow :)
G'night, lola!
Good night, lola! Sweet dreams!
'nite dear :) Thanx again. Hope i'm of more use tomorrow lol
i need just 1 more!
lozzi, how about 'angels play music on a h***''
lozzi - Where cowboys work?
or how about itches minus a vowel...
thanks people! i have enough for my homework! thanks! and iv ust realised if i waited til tomorrow morning i cud av checked the answers but anyway thanks! bye bye xx
congratulations, lozzi!
I'm back from Tokyo Mew-Mew land.... shudder
Could I have some assitance please with ra6/33 & ri5/14?
I so wanted to do this puzzle without any help but have meetings first thing in the morning so pretty please can clues for me7/36 and No6/30?
ri5/14 is an extension of one of the ri4/6s,
ra6: Bitter, long-lasting resentment; deep-seated ill will
me7 is plural of me6
ra6/33 = southwestern cattle farm
Jera your ra6 is Bitter, long-lasting resentment; deep-seated ill will
sorry--that was the wrong ra6
no6 is a type of officer that didn't attend academy
Jera ignore my clue it was for the wrong ra6
I was about to smack myself for forgetting to input that...
I need another ra5/14... I have the ancient one...
Moozey< Your 6/30, french negative and 2nd part put it on the roses
I also have a mystery r with not stats to go with it...
Jera, I don't think there is an ra5/14...
Sheesh. ri5/14... sorry...
I love you thank you. I can now go to bed without a care in the world xxx Have a good day all and sorry for posting and running but I can barely keep my eyes open
new here. do they give answers when the puzzle closes?!
Never mind, I got it anyway... the r15
Please forgive me... it's the medication...
'nite Moozey :) Bearsmum, once the puzzle closes you can access the wordlist by clicking on archives and the on one of the Babblers at the top of the list. It opens up a new window with a full summary :)
is it 185 /2967 tonight?
No worries Jera. I've had one of those days myself lol
Ferrari - bullseye
Thanks can now look at yesterdays! only been here since mon and am already addicted! found good method - put in likely sounding words - one if five exist it's just me who hasnt heard of them!!
We call it Monkey Typing, bearsmum! We all partake! ;-)
thanks Anj need an no4/4 goodness knows which one
**sobbing quietly into keyboard** I just turned the page & looked at my naked C list... waaahhh.
Don't feel so bad, Jera. I've still got 99 to go! Grr...
Thanks, Jo, I do feel better with 58... plus I'm on medication (that's my feeble excuse today)...
I'm just slow .... can't start on the wine yet, that'll really slow me down!
(ignoring the A's & C's) Could I have a hint for the ho5/16... not the laud & admiration one...
bullseye a scrabble word fits
Ferrari, there's 4 no4s: 1) french for black 2) lawn ornament 3) An edible, dried preparation of red algae of the genus (sounds like an apology!) 4) french for we or reason & knowledge
ho5: A province of east-central China. It is one of the oldest inhabited regions in China and the site of many Stone Age remains
think arthur ..... doyle
thanks anj already found it must be first obscure scrabble word to fit that isn't in the a2z
There is just no reason for that word to be in my puzzle. No excuse whatsoever. I'm... I'm... nonplussed!!!
why invent another word just call it red algae
New Feature Alert I just added the ability to view the chat log in chunks of 50 (i.e. prev/next page links.) This should help those of you whose browsers blow up when you click the "Show all messages" link. (I did just realize, however, that the chat log still updates and changes the log while you're viewing previous pages. I'll have to figure how to stop that.)
Is a light snack or meal = a lawn ornament for the no4??
jera did you get it or are you still nonplussed?
Ferrari, I think we do. It's the Japs who call it no4/4 lol I recognise the latin porphyra - it's been in the grid a few times before & I still didn't twig
Oh I got it. The China one. That's what nonplussed me. Spam isn't a word but a Chinese town is.
Still wondering... is the lawn ornament a light snack?
Cheers Dr God. I find it helps to hide the icons before trawling the log for info too :)
Jera, I'm still mad about NONI. Its a real fruit, and you think the 'Tahitian Noni' ads would put it in a standard dictionary!! LOL
TY Dr God.
the light snack is a different word from the lawn ornament :-)
I hear ya Jo.
Jera, the lawn ornament is also a city of Western Alaska on Norton Sound. Another one for the pot lol
So I wonder what the lawn ornament is if there are only 4 no's... I have light snack, black (fr.), we (fr.), & algae.
Dr God. You are so considerate thanks for the update. As you are so kind I can't figure out why you give us 49 C's to find !!!!!!!!!!!! I'm beaten by them tonight G,night god bless and please be kinder to us tomorrow.
dr god can you explain why I used to be able to print my list of words in full and now I can only get page 1, I have to copy and paste which is faffy oh the trials and tribulations of a babbler
I guess my question is... do I need to figure out what this lawn ornament is??
a lawn ornament as it sounds not as its spelt
g
Jera I have 5 nos For the garden ornament think small pixie type ornament and knock off the first letter
it's also a town in alaska. and i think of it more as a garden ornament, less of a lawn one. featured prominently in the movie amelie.
Ye gods so the answer to my question is yes!! How many no4's are there?? I don't have N stats.
Does anyone have a clue for a cr 5 please? I have the one thats an illegal act.
So the city is a word... but Rome the EMPIRE isn't?? I gotta get this Enable dictionary.
Okay... back to work... ignoring the N's now, too. May I have a hint on the in6's & in7, please?
Snowy, I would help you but I have zero cr's, hon.
Sorry I,ve missed nearly all the stats today which has made the babbling interesting
snowyowl anagram a c5/14 you may have or add a letter to a c4/6
it means 10 million
could i have a hint on the co7--not the sharing leadership one or the trite one--thanks
c6/39 plus a letter
Do you have the Kansas one? As in crop famously grown there... but more of it?
Uneaixoise, is it the co7/56? Think of a big shell and add two vowels
yeah, that's the trite one but thanks
Thankyou ferrari got it at last!
anj, that's the one . . . will keep noodling
Thanks, anj... I didn't have that one...
got it! thanks all!!
I never got an answer to my ra6/33 plea...
I just changed my icon to English but I dont like it uk feels much more inclusive, now I know what Yasmin Alihbai Brown means
May I have a hint for the me 6 and 7 please?
Jera, I think I confused matters with my N post for Ferrari so here's a summary: no4/4 - french black no4/6 - sounds like garden ornament (city in Alaska too) no4/4 - the Fate who spins the thread of life no4/4 - red algae which sounds like apology no4/6 - everything is aok no4/7 - snack attack no4/4 - french for we - also knowledge/reason
I need those too, mab...
singular and plural of a type of wool
I would looove to get the no8, I feel I'm a total failure.
us Brits would vm like to use the disinfectant which is clearly seen in the grid. Only 39 points - but every little helps - especially me
Jera, your ra6/33 - think of Southfork and add a hoop ;)
jera ra6/33 is an extension of an ra/20, it was in the grid a few days ago. extend it to get an ra7 as well
Thank you Une. Did you get your co 7? Its what you might say to describe something that is even schlockier than another silly thing.
yes, got it--thanks
Good thing I'm taking Roman history... I know the Clotho equivalent!
ExWren, it's literally an illegality that never took place
I'm stumped on everything in a ok... (no4/6)
Ex Wren - the no8 is a cr5 that did'nt happen
Jera, i'm impressed. it was in dic.com but I didn't mention :)
jera, it means "standard, not unusual"
When something happens that is not an illegality it could be said to be a no8. cr 5 with prefix.
Jera, the aok no4/6 - think of Marilyn Monro's real first name and drop the A.
oOh smack me... I had the plural, LOL (ra7/48) not the singular!
very creative, anj!
Got it, Yay!
bless you snowyowl. by the way, hubby is from Swansea
Cheers Uneaixoise - I think my brain is finally coming back on-line lol Malise - know what you mean about that. It would probably accept ajax lol
Yup, I'm studying how to take over the word... taking Roman history & Latin!
Also memorizing the Evil Overlord rules...
Fortunately, Evil Overlords don't have to spell worLd... just take it over...
You're welcome Ex Wren, me too from Mumbles. I'm now only 17 miles away. So as you can see Ididn't run very far!
LOL...you're just imagining Russell Crowe in a leather skirt now, admit it :D
Well, yeah... that too!
Although the Spartacus guy is hotter... forgot his name...
kirk douglas
saw that film when I was 12
Ye gods, no!!!! The new one.... yikes, Kirk Douglas...
Goran Visnjic
Of course, there's always the Borgias! Spartacus has been remade? I would have said Kirk Douglas...
is there a new Spartacus ?
I have only been on a few minutes, could I get some clues for the Q words? I would be very grateful.
Yes, remake in 2004
Ferrari, Ross Kemp had a part. Probably tells you all you need to know about that...
Goran Visnjic?
he's not left er has he oh sob sob
It was never on the big screen, but I love me some Goran Visnjic!! Much more believeable Thracian than Kirk Douglas!
he IS gorgeous
oh Luka unrequited love
Jera, if you want to have a roman laugh, there used to be a series on over here called Chelmsford 123. It was hysterically funny in places. Might be hard to track down over there.
absolutely gorgeous, almost top of the list though I cant think of the others above just having a hot flush
Sheila Rae qu4 one of 5 babies qu5 a paper measuremant qu6 and 7 a type of grain and its plural
Chelmsford 123 ,sounds worse than Eldorado!
snowyowl, thank you, thank you, thank you.
I think I am losing the will to live, still have 80 words to go, so no chance of completing tonight.
I used to love Triangle with Larry Lamb
I'm giving up with 58 to go. 3 grandchildren under 6 to get to school in the morning with possibly 2 more if my daughter gets called into work. Goodnight all and good luck. Look forward to tomorrows puzzle.
well that shut everybody up!
Ferrari, I remember THAT for Stephanie Beacham :) Chelmsford 123 link: http://www.nostalgiacentral.com/tv/comedy/chelmsford.htm
Was it not Kate O'Mara? She of the heavyhanded make-up look?
Wasn't Larry Lamb in Toy Town? or is that 2 far back?
Good spot Haz - I keep getting those two mixed up lol
Stephanie's finest hour was in Tenko. I don't know what Kate's finest hour was...
it was Kate O'Mara , Stephanie Beacham was in Dynasty and Tenko .why have all my words just shot right to the bottom below the post message box?
Help, all of my words have jumped down to beneath the message box!
you too dr god must be faffing about again
ExWren - mine too! I have tried refreshing.... maybe I need to sign out and back in
Good grief, you spend all day finding them and then the blessed words are trying to escape!
Did it to me too.
dr god are you there ,you were there earlier
mine messed up too, and after I figured out the two q words
sheila get on im later
And Show all messages/next 50 has moved to the bottom header too instead of the top. Yo, Dr God, we Broke it! Again!
Thank goodness I'm not the only one. I thought for one awful minute that I'd lost the lot
Mine are OK. Don't forget that Dr God is refining the message log at the mo :)
For some reason a message slipped out beyond the box. As soon as it's no longer part of the 50 things will go back to normal.
anj are yours still next to you grid?
Deb, I will get booted off this cruddy hotel internet in a few minutes, so I will try IM. I am at 962, and have to go over 1000 before I can quit. Give me a few.
Can't stand the strain, I'm going to bed. goodnight all
I'm going to bed too ,night night lol
"night ex wren. see msg at 7:12; that's bollixing up the format. It will soon be off the screen and things will go back to normal.
Yup, everything looks ok to me. I'm on Firefox tho'
sheila a cheque payment is a no....h payment
Sheila - I love you sister, but you have to find your own words - after all, you are the English Teacher :)
my sister was going to get me firefox when my yahoo mail disppeared this week its caput
hmmm....Interesting, Anj. It was your msg that overflowed the box. This happened once before.
It's not the message per se, just the long link that is being treated as one word and babble is refusing to split up.
Any hints for the ch 7? I am plugging along here. The more we chat, the faster this thing fixes itself!
I am further illuminated: thank Jack. I do wish it would go away.
ch/756 . a syphilitic lesion twas in a few days ago
Hiding the icons will get rid of it.
Thank you Ferrari
Well, I went down to check, and ch 7 is the cold sore word we've had once before. Quaint spelling.
May I have a clue for ho 7 please?
that works brandyjack now I really am going to bed. points score is 2967 if it helps
Jera - you are right - he's gorgeous
That url is seperate from the word list on Firefox and doesn't appear to interfere. Can't speak for other browsers tho' so I will avoid doing that again. Sorry folks.
ho7/40 add letters to an ho5/16
1010 points. Thank you everyone for helping me get my highest score yet. Deb, getting on IM. Bye all.
Hey, I'm back! Sorry... hubby came home & I had to go freet him... Anj, that sounds interesting, will check it out...
Hardly your fault, Anj.
So it's all Anj's fault, as usual...
Ta Dah - it's baaaack
...it's been one of those days :/
Queen mab, you are too nice...
Just noticed my typo... in case anyone's wondering, I did not freet my husband... I merely greeted him, LOL!
Jera: "freet?" Is that a good thing to do to one's husband, or a wicked thing? I wish I had some meds to take right now.
Hey, he takes what he can get... freet... greet... it's all good...
Hey, cbr! Have you been here long?
Normal now!
No just got home - long day running errands after work - I have 106 left to go so I'll probably be here quite a while though!
Hey, is plurple lurking? We're watching Foster's here...
...and that url is off the page. Coincidence, I think not. Good advert for Firefox tho' lol
You will prolly finish before me, cbr... I'm on medication...
I'm glad you're looking jollier this evening Anj. Ah, love is in the air...
...and on that note, it's time for me to hit the hay. Any last requests before I go - preferably ones that do not involve me, dawn's rosy light, firing squads & blindfolds...
Okay... back to business... could someone please help me with the in6's & in7??
Sorry you aren't feeling well - you know I'm always happy to help but my clues aren't too creative!
Anj, I like your Brian icon best... that freaky spider thing made my son cry today!
Sometimes creative goes right over my head...
Cheers Mab - love? don't know what you're talking about lol Jera, It nearly had the same effect on me :( Won't be using that one again...
Sorry. na 6. May I please have a clue?
sometimes when I try to be creative it makes sense only to my warped mind -I like your new icon
The only na6 I have is mexican munchies
i just downloaded firefox..anj. the printing is so small! Otherwise..I like it bunches!!
Hi Lianakate
Can't believe I missed that. Thanks cbr. 'night Anj.
Hi CB!!
Hey lianakate!
Hi Lianakate. It's been really well behaved for me, although Windows XP Pro gives it a rough ride sometimes lol
How nice to see you again, lianakate; it's been awhile.
Right, that's me. 'Nite all. Good luck with the grid. Catch you again tomorrow :)
If "nachos" and "nacho" are valid words, what's wrong with "ancho" -- it's probably on the nachos. And what about enquirer -- enquire is a valid word. Arrrrrrrgh.
I need a hint with the in 6/18... in6/30... in7/44, please!
Hi Jera :)..The printing is so small on it, ANJ,..even my glasses dont help much!
Jera - I'm not working on my I's yet. Sorry
Well... I gotta go do the family thing for awhile... be back later...
the in6/18 is more of your 5/10 the 6/30 and 7 are related to each other and are the money you make at your job (unless, like me, you slave away all day for no pay, i.e. motherhood!)
Hello fellow Babblers. How are you all this fine day? I'm stuck on two final words - a co5/18 (I have the drug trees and the one who arrives) and a co6/24 (I have the moneymaker, the oil of Hemlock and the 90% angle). Any clues please?
Jacula, your co/6 is part of the eye
Thanks kimdog. Got it now. I was going up to the right instead of the left. *slaps head*
That just leaves the co5/18.
It has to come off the c on the right on the third row.
Why am I having to refresh after adding a message? Never had to before.
Jacula: do you have the seashell that indigenous peoples sometimes use as a horn?
Jacula - and you have the wonderful winter warm drink right?
Yes, I do. It's a 5/24.
That's the one Jax. Thanks. I'd got the 'Chanel' version but hadn't looked up for the final letter. I'm done then. Thanks for the help everyone.
I'm glad to be of help. I feel like I am always asking for help.
Can't stop long but does anyone need any clues while I'm here?
Real life is killing me. No time to Babble. Bwah!
I need an sh 6, I have the one that forms something and one that is a sham.
Jax - I must have the other one because I don't have the sham I don't think - use an ai4/4 to find the answer
cbr- that is the one I have, my dictionary says it means 'sham'
Today's 'Not There But I Keep Seeing Them' words were anchor, panic, chariot, scone, hospice, aerobic, orchard, herioc, erotic, ironic, aphis and apron. A few famous people appeared - Cronin (AJ), Ronan (Keating), Nero (Emperor), Shapiro (Helen), Shane (Fenton aka Alvin Stardust) and Conan (The Barbarian). None of them were allowed in though.:-( Two famous brand names also appeared - Ronco (who could forget their 70s products?) and Harpic (the toilet cleaner).
Sorry then - I am missing the other one too!
The last sh6 is an adj describing something worked on by the other sh9 (and differing from that only in the last letter.)
You need the past participle of your sh5/20.
Duh - thanks ladies
11 to go - I think - 185 total right?
185 words for 2967 points, Jax.
What do you need Jax?
down to 7. I need an no 5 and 2 na 5. The no I have is a type of waterwheel and the na I have is the munchie
The rest are co's and I'm just working on them now
the na has the same ending as the mouth sore that is a ch7
jacula - one co I might be missing is you 90% angle, I don't get that clue
the other na could be a squealer ib drug lingo with an extra vowel at the end
Sorry my message posted too fast - once you get that word switch the last two letters
The no5 is a plural of your no4/4, the one that sounds like nothing with a vowel at the end.
The na5 is mother-of-pearl. Try putting in your land measure (ac4/6).
Thank you - cbr it took me awhile to figure that one out! Lol. off to the rest of the co's. Anything I can offer?
If you're still around later, I'm sure I'll be begging!
The co6/24 (90% angle) is something you might get backed into.
I'm trying to be done by 10....fingers crossed
ahh gotcha Jacula . I had that one, just didn't get your clue. lol
If I don't have it before you leave, how about a clue for the other 8 - I have fixer
CBR - Take your cr5/18 (illegal act) and put 'no' and another consonant in front of it.
How easy was that? I'm doing the co's now - will get to the no's soon. Thanks very much!
Whoo Hoo. Done, at 10:00 on the money. Can I help before I go?
I have to go now. 'See' you all later.
hey all
Hi cathy
a southerner?
I am
I have returned, fellow Babblers!
Hiya -- does anyone have a list of the s words? I'm missing one... I've got sh/4 x 1, sh/5 x 4, sh/6 x 2, sh/7 x 1, so/5 x1
Sh 9 - ,Sh4x1,Sh5x4,Sh6x3,Sh7x1 So 1 - ,So5x1
thanks!!
Jera are you feeling better ??
hi jera!
am struggling with a co6 and co7... not sure if they are a bit cryptic and associated with each other?
i am struggling with a co6 and co7... not sure if they are a little cryptic and associated with one another?
cathy do you have the word for shell ??
Better than yesterday... meds are working, not sleeping quite so much!
There are two co's that are related - type of shell - you always see people listening to them
the base word is a co5
Did anybody answer my in6's & in7 cry for help while I was gone??
Sorry Jera - I didn't see it - is it the in's that have to do with what you make in compensation? It is called in____
i'm sure i do! i have all of the co's except those two....
Jera - opp. of outgoer
It's the in6/18 & in6/30... also in7/44... tough work today!
the clues we gave you should all be correct
Sorry, I'm missing the 18 too.
Got it, mab, thanks! NowI just need the in6/18...
pu another letter on you in5/10 to get the 6/18
Thanks, cbr... you try so hard to help me! It's a tough job...
thanks for the clues... will look!
No sweat - I'm almost through the list and will start asking myself very soon!
That's this game... it just gets in6/18 and in6/18...
LOL
I won't finish tonight... 48 to go & my eyelids sare drooping!
Thanks, cbr. I must be blind.
Did anybody get the long me's? I don't have 6/24 & 7/36...
I have 48 to go too
A kind of wool Jera.
It's a kind of wool I think - also the last name of a famous pro quarterback for the Dolphins (I think)named Dan - although spelled with a diff first vowel
i have 41 little bu**ers
I have the Q's, the S's, all but 2 of the R's... the E's H's & I's... if I can help anyone I'd be glad to do it...
I need loads 'o R's so give me a few minutes and I will post what I have - that would be great
How about the pa6/39 & pa6/24?
I don't have the 6/39 but the other one plays off one of your 4/4 - kind of a "pain" to find it
One is pa 3/6 - the hurts word - with two consonants tacked on. The other we've seen before, a basket.
A french basket.
thanks mab
Got it! The 2 consonants clue did it... does anyone have the 24??
the 24 plays off the pa4/4 - remove the last letter and add a common ending - it will get easier
Okay, there can't be a pa4/4...
I do need the en word, if someone can provide a clue, please!
sorry - I meant a pa4/6
Ask a question, cbr... it has a q in it!
got it - thanks - Iiked the Q words today - I have a son named Quinn
strange but true need a clue for the er 4/4 word....me thinks I have tried every combo...but alas no word accepted....TIA
Whoo-hoo! Thanks!
it is that same old bird one - I can't remember the crossword clue but it is in every one - sea eagle maybe
Maybe Ernest was called this for short.
Along those same lines, I need an as4 and ar4 - anyone?
fantastico thank you.,.....
as4 - 'A membranous, often club-shaped structure in which typically eight ascospores are formed through sexual reproduction of ascomycetes.'
is there an ar4? my list doesn't have one!
ac 4/6 think computer language....key board type
NOT ac but as
No - sorry ar5
No - ac 4 is a very common land measure.
ar 5/14 according to my list from a post
You want to laugh, Blaze - I didn't even notice it said ac and got it right away anyhow - thanks
cbr you are a PRO
ar5 - ar a writing instrument
The as 4 goes pretty much up the right side.
Need op5/20 clues pleas... I'm still ignoring the a's so I'm no help there...
Jera - what everyone yells at a greek wedding when they break the glasses or a talk show host in Chicago minus a middle letter or colorful fish
I'm still short 7, count 'em 7, C's so I feel your pain
I'm still struggling with 69 words
I've got 38 to go
I get what you're trying to say, but doesn't add up to 5 letters that I can see...?
Jera, make it plural
Oh. Duh. Pluralize it...
jeras it is also looks plural
30 for me.
i have 8 to go... so if anyone needs help?
See, cbr, you've passed me & I've been at this since 7 am (on & off, but still...)!
I was on last night after the new one posted though
Plus I'm on medication. That's been my feeble defense today!
Does anyone have that ra6/33?
cathy if yo can help me blank a couple of letters that would be great - need an or5 ( I have the fat lady) and an ha4 and one na 4 ( I have the neck and mostly vowel)
add a vowel to your ra5/20
ra6/33 would be a spanish-sounding salad dressing! the regular ra*** dressing with an o on the end
the or5 is a plural of the or4/6
I HATE it when I miss those plurals
LOL... I had that one, forgot to write it down...
this is an na that sounds like the guy who built the arc no H
lol... i did my usual... fouind all the easy ones a few minutes ago in a big word-finding fest! lol
Jera: when you are very angry with someone you feel ra 6. there is a 'ran' involved, as well as an 'or'
Yup that was the 24 pointer... one of my favorite words!
Oneof my favorites too - I always think I see it in the grid
I think I will tackle the C's since it is a higher point than A or N...
Did I miss brandyjack's posting of the second letter hint list tonight??
i am really stuck on an mo6, and those co6 and co7s... blimey...
jera... i think he posted around 5pm or so?
I was missing the other or5 too since my o didn't blank if you could be so kind
In 6, the one with er on the end? Who uses that word? It's my least favorite. Thanks Cathy for the na.
I have one set of co6 and 7 - how many are there?
Whales!
I have that one - it's the other one - I was missing them both - I miscounted

I'm missing a co 6 and 7 too. do you have the co with a number in it?
yes, mab
I don't have that one - I have the shells
And the angles (sort of)
i have the shells for 5, but unable to make that into a 6 or 7?
add a vowel at the end for the 6 and two vowels at the end for the 7
cathy just keep adding vowels up
I have the meeting, shells, money maker, and the 9 one. there is one more
...and the eye and the angle.
think about cobs !!
You need an extra 7 only? If so it may be if you have extra kernels your popcorn is co______
thanks for that... i now have the 7... already had the 6 without realising it, so am after a different co6!
I need the meeting and the money maker I guess
meeting is the person that is sharing the leading of the meeting... the money maker think who makes coppers
I already had the moneymaker without realizing it - the co-lead I have tried to get but haven't been able to see it
add a prefix to the thing one sits on, and a suffix to co 4.
Got it - another duh!
Good news... I finally have my c-list straight! With on 45 minutes to go, LOL!
golly... 2 words to go... a co6 and an mo6
I think I'm still missing 14 total C's - congratualtions!
cathy have you added to mo 4/6
I have all the co6s cathy - tell me what you need again
Hi All, I could sure use a bit of help. Looking for the ca5, ni5 and In6 (not salary). Any hints? Please:)

I only need one more 7... the no7... have the 8 but not the 7!
Good clue, cbr
Jera - I cannot believe you got those that fast - I'm still at 35! With many C's and R's left
Dianne - I don't have the other two or I would help you
You are smart not to believe that... I only got my LIST in order... didna find all the C's... that would just be insane, LOL! I have 40 words left... many of them C's!
Just trying polish off the biggies, since I have no hope to finish...

any more help?
cathy that is a very broad question....you know Babblers always need help...... Thanks for all your help today.
I still need the ar5 that means writing instrument and an ha4
ar5 - add the name for a common writing instrument to the end.. has ink in it... you use it every day... lol
The ar5 is a recurring word in this puzzle... roman measurement... ar writing instrument, using ink
lol blaze... your very welcome.... which ha4, cbr?
Cathy, do you have ch6/33 & ch6/39 real quick??
I have the neck and mostly vowel
cbr musical instrument
ch6/33 is the same as ch5/20 with an e on the end
I have the 2 ha4s that sound alike and the angelic instrument
ch6/39 is the same as ch5/24, but pluralised
Puter emergency at hubby's work... he needs the puter... lovely chatting & playing with you all... cya tomorrow!
Ca5 hints - please.
it is too late - i can't see straight - or remember what I'm doing!
cbr-ha4/7-sounds like something farmers do to get in a certain crop
at 167 and i dont feel like doing anymore ca5 - brand of electronics
the other ha4 is difficult to explain... but add on the beginning of the en7.... lol... without making it too simple!!!
ca5... you either sit on it, or you put links together to form one
got it - hilarious - I always try those combos and I'm shocked I missed that one
hmm... that was silly... lol... that would be ch...
