Thank you High energy... how about passing some energy over here... These H words are about to get the hockey sticks %% !! %%

12:41 am

HHighenergy - what happened to the k's

12:41 am

Those can't be today's stats; there's no 'w' today.

12:41 am

I don't get it....there isn't a W in the puzzle

12:41 am

Are you sure about those letter counts - there isn't a w in this grid.

12:43 am

ooh - but my word length counts are wrong! I copied in the wrong list... wups! trying again... ---- Word lengths ---- 4 letter words: 107 5 letter words: 70 6 letter words: 27 7 letter words: 10 8 letter words: 3 9 letter words: 1 ---- 1st letter counts ---- a - 17 e - 12 f - 25 g - 29 h - 28 i - 5 k - 4 l - 18 n - 13 o - 5 s - 33 t - 26 y - 3 ---- Letter counts ---- a - 148 e - 185 f - 77 g - 49 h - 33 i - 30 k - 4 l - 88 n - 76 o - 40 s - 140 t - 156 y - 17

12:44 am

12:44 am

where do these lists come from ??

12:45 am

I wrote a program to find the words. It uses the same public domain dictionary (ENABLE) that the game uses. The dictionary has about 170,000 words

12:46 am

oooh kay fine..... You are very industrious.... keep up the good work. Thanks

12:49 am

Well done High Energy! Thank you.

Malise, I typed it in four times, in increasing disbelief.

5:54 am

Mine brain cell just downs tools, grabs a biccy and a newspaper and puts its feet up for a break. At least it did that yesterday lol. There's hope tho' Just got all the Es on the 2nd row in one hit :)

5:54 am

anyone else finding the log odd?

Hi Kallia - how do you mean? The display all/next 50 are at the bottom now.

6:05 am

Anj see you managed to finish yesterday :)

6:06 am

yeah it has changed a bit its just at the bottom now instead of both, is that what you meant?

6:06 am

ferrari it is probably the ga5/18 which I didn't believe. take your ga4/5 that means to yawn (and ends with the e on the top row) and add a consonant to the end of the word

6:07 am

ferrari i am so confused don't know what I meant really, but it seems ok now thanks :)

6:07 am

Kallia, my last two words were ranch & painch. That probably tells you something of the torment lol. Thanx for the help :)

got k's y's and i's...106 words, was here early this am... I do what I can at first glance, and then concentrate on individual letters...

6:18 am

Kallia, me too, but that approach backfired horribly yesterday so I'm changing my tack today

6:19 am

Macadam, cast in order of appearance :) : ea5/12 ea6/21 ea6/21 ea7/32 ea4/4 ef4/10 ef4/7 el4/4 en5/10 en6/18 es4/4 et4/4

6:23 am

Morning :) Looks easier than yesterday's tho' Mickie

6:23 am

Thanks Anj. I`ll start looking for my missing ones.

6:28 am

6:35 am

8:22 am

Jera, nanochoc is the powder in a choccy cake mix lol

8:25 am

I'm actually really a chocosnob... only the darkest for me!

8:25 am

I thought nanochoc was a very small chocolate bar. Boom Boom!!

8:26 am

hi all

8:27 am

nanochoc ... direct and continual chocolate infusion to the body badda bing!

8:27 am

70% or 80% cocoa or it`s not real chocolate.

8:30 am

Clue for the T9? I'd scroll back, but I'm just too freakin lazy this a.m. Must be the weather.

8:31 am

why cant i have totaly? totaly wrong!

8:31 am

It's weird around here anyway, not to like milk chocolate.... but it makes me sick... don't even talk about the abomination of white chocolate... disgusting...

8:32 am

Because I can't have often or gentlefolk, bejay!!

8:32 am

white chocolate .. now there's an oxymoron if I ever heard one.

8:32 am

and there was me celebrating the other day because I found a 'Flake' at an Irish goods pagoda!!! ll

8:33 am

Hey, Cathy! You must have come in while I was working on my word list! How are you today, kitty?

8:35 am

ewwwwww! NO! sounds nasty!

8:36 am

although I have been known to have brownies with beer :-P Well, off to the gym. later all

8:36 am

I've had chocolat soda wich is great, but not beer, yuck!

8:38 am

Only ever found it once at Belgo's. It's Belgian, looks like a normal lager but trust me, it tastes of chocolate. I've been trying to find it again ever since lol. ...and they served it with a white chocolate bombe desert *sigh* ...would have quite happily married the waitress at that point...

8:40 am

Does anyone have a clue for the T9?

8:40 am

Cathy, thinking back to Flakes, do they still make Ripples? Haven't seen one in a while...

8:40 am

Judi, it's a to9 meaning 'adds up'

8:41 am

lol, i would try it. my fav is the mudslide, icecream, choco, whipped cream and plenty of rum

ARGH...218! will be thrilled if i can find 50% of them *sigh* oh...good morning everyone.

8:41 am

yes but! totaly is there.....

8:43 am

mmmm nice. I've had something similar by the sound of it called Mississippi Mud Pie. It came on a plate the size of a small continent and is now on WeightWatchers 10 most-wanted list lol

8:44 am

yeah, i figure i only live once, should enjoy what i can. at least every once in awhile. Think i will go and get a snickers bar.

8:44 am

Just got home from work to find this massive grid! Looks promising... but BIG!

8:44 am

8:47 am

oh dear, and here's me without so much as a word containing it! must try harder. thanks

8:48 am

Anj there`s a death by chocolate sweet in some places.Apparently delicious fortunately not living up to its name!

8:48 am

i always wanted to go to Belgo's... and as for Ripples... I have no idea

8:48 am

Don't worry, lazyserf, and welcome to this way too addictive game ;)

8:50 am

Good morning from a dreary, grey Boston. I've only got a ka6/39 that I'm used to seeing spelled with a 'c', not a 'k'. Somewhere earlier in the log I saw that all the k's are 'ka'.

8:51 am

The sun JUST came out here... now if we could just clear the air a bit (baaaaaad humidity).

8:52 am

where do you live, Jera? I am northeastern PA and the heat and humidity has been pretty bad

8:52 am

I've got Ka 4/11 & ka4/8

8:53 am

Anj, your F list made me realize I made a mistake in my cahrt... somewhere... it's not adding up somehow...

8:53 am

Northern Virginia... about 20 miles from DC.

8:53 am

2x ka4/8

8:58 am

are you sure about that chris? I have ka4/8 and ka4/11 no other possible ka4/8's

8:58 am

I'm in a chocolate reverie at the moment... Abnormal service will be resumed shortly :)

8:58 am

I've got 2 ka4/8s.

8:59 am

there are 2 k4/8's

9:00 am

Duh. my bad. Just saw the last possible combo. Oh well! K's down!

9:05 am

Grrrr. Not only does it reject henge, it doesn't like leat either }( It's a ****** watercourse powering a mill *gnashing of teeth* Enable needs a bat up its nightdress.

9:07 am

any1 got a clue for k6/39? need that one to complete the k's.......

9:07 am

9:15 am

Demis roussos

9:15 am

Gosh Anj, what did I do to deserve that?! Yummy :)

9:15 am

Bobsta, it is an alt. spelling of an Fe4/7, meaning a wide horizontal band forming the middle section of an escutcheon

9:19 am

thats why he wore a big dress! good for lifting

9:19 am

lol! Dreamy baggo :)

9:20 am

Bobsta, which one?? 1) notable acts or deeds 2) plucky, frisky or spunky (drop the y) 3) material (hats, snooker tables? Vanessa lol) 4) heraldic - A wide horizontal band forming the middle section of an escutcheon. Also slang for admit 5) relating to an unborn baby (and usually spely with an extra o) Does that help??

9:20 am

Can anyone help me with my last s. I have: se4/4 x 3 se5/10 se5/16 se4/4 se5/10 x 2 se6/36 se7/52 se5/10 si6/18 x 2 si4/4 x 2 st5/22 st6/36 st4/5 st5/18 st5/10 x 2 st5/12 st5/10 x 2 st6/18 st5/10 st6/18 st4/7 st4/4 st5/10 x 3

9:21 am

Thanks Sprite i'll keep looking Bejay: you're Bad ;o)

9:21 am

Welcome back lola.

9:22 am

Lo, i'm still saying thanx for yesterday ;)

9:25 am

Hi mom :) Anj- no need. Besides, have a feeling you're going to have to help me out today.....

9:25 am

thanks Anj it's the heraldic one can't seem to get the right combination

9:27 am

think of the things your shoes are covering...;)

9:28 am

Bobsta, don't be scared of snakelike sounds for the heraldic one

9:29 am

bobsta, ignore my clue....think of the person who narks and tells who did it....

9:30 am

Bobsta a person admitted he had committed a crime. The word you want is in there.

9:33 am

I see we're serving Leffe today :) Voluntary euthanasia in a glass lol

9:34 am

A blonde Leffe would go well with those chocolates.

9:34 am

chris...st4/4

9:34 am

Sprite, did you see my earlier post about the choccy beer???

9:35 am

i've just realised i've got the one you're all cluing me up on! it's the fe5/16 i'm after.

9:35 am

Missed that, Anj, just got started actually. But I am right with you :)

9:36 am

Bobsta, my clues are for a Fe5/16. Perhaps there are more?

9:36 am

there are 2--one is a plural of an fe4 and the other is french for butt

9:36 am

Leffe Blonde, YUUUUUMMMMYYYY!!

9:37 am

It would appear that bobsta no longer gives a toss about the fe5/16......

9:37 am

Baggo - it can't be an st4/4, because I only need one word and the stats tell me it's a 5

9:38 am

LOL!!!!

9:38 am

bobsta...there are 4 of those....and whats a leffe?

9:38 am

ok, chris i'll look again...

9:39 am

Leffe is a gorgeous beer, i think from belguim though i'm sure i'll be corrected if i'm wrong. There are 5 fe5/16 according to anj's earlier post

9:41 am

Baggo, it's a Belgian beer...served in halfs 'cos pints blow your circuits. Sprite, I can track down Greenwich Brewery's Chocolate Menatime (which is also made with vanilla, yum!) but I can't find any Belgian stuff apart from Chimay :( Are you any wiser??

9:41 am

do you have the fe5/16 referring to a baby?

9:41 am

Chris p think it is an sl/5 extension to sl/4

9:42 am

Any clues for the fe 8/60?

9:42 am

bobsta- try adding a vowel to the end of your first fe4/7.

9:42 am

Leffe is from Belgium, most certainly! Our neighbours :)

9:43 am

Kallia - there isn't an sl!

9:43 am

can I have a clue for fe6 please.

9:43 am

...just out of interest, has anyone here ever tried Dogfishhead???

9:44 am

fe6: offering fun and gaiety

9:44 am

bobsta- please ignore last post. Actually, maybe you should ignore any future ones too, brain has left without telling me :(

9:44 am

Anj, I have no more luck than you, I am sorry. We'll have to make do with Leffe blonde and some great belgian chocolates.

9:45 am

si...sorry

9:46 am

chris p, si5/16

9:47 am

Thanks uneaixoise just seen it.There is an fe6/36 I think

9:47 am

Macadam, there are 3 fe^s 1) oath of allegiance or faithfulness 2) deftly, adroitly, skilfully 3) relating to fete, gala, fun'n'games

9:48 am

Lola: all this talk about leffe has made my brain stray to the local house of alcoholic bevarages! not long to closing time here at the showroom!! Hee Hee ;o)

9:48 am

whoops Macadam, that should have read fe6 ... Lola, having a bad day babe?

9:48 am

Anj the coffee isn`t working any longer. Thanks yet again.

9:50 am

bobsta- maybe that's where mine is. Ask yours to check for me? Anj- Can't seem to give simple clues properly, let alone find words :'(

9:51 am

well i must go searching for that beer..we have a store close with great imports... ;) or maybe i should just get a passport and go pond hopping...

9:51 am

Might I get a clue for the F8 and the H8, please?

9:52 am

Lola: When i find it or should that be if? Une: yes i have that one ;o)

9:52 am

Thanks Baggo & Kallia - finally got it. 218 / 2938. Will hang around for a while in case anyone wants any help.

9:53 am

awww Lola, hug time (((((x))))) :)

9:54 am

Aaah, thanks babe :) Shall make an effort to pull myself together now!

9:55 am

Judi: Fe8/60 - to obtain by deceitful methods. He8/55 - gone cold

9:55 am

got a k 4/8 missing not the plural

9:57 am

Ka4/8 - also known as k-meson

9:58 am

whoah...how is hatless a word! confusing, confusing...is there such a word as antless? to have no ant? *sobs* where has my ant gone?!

9:58 am

ChrisP; how did you manage to get the St. Georges Cross instead of the Union Jack?

9:58 am

thanks for the 8's chris!

9:59 am

Bobsta - if you go to your profile and update flag for England, it should change.

9:59 am

Miyawa - hatless is a word. Try it again.

10:00 am

ChrisP - the H8 eludes me. Could you elaborate on that last clue a bit more?

10:00 am

Nice icon, Judi! To drink or not to drink, that is the question he is pondering, I bet.

10:01 am

Mmmm: to 6/36 .....

10:01 am

Sprite - methinks my icon is drinking choco beer.

10:01 am

is anyone else having probs with the log today? Messages are repeating themselves in blocks - Im trying out a new browser, so it could just be me....

10:01 am

10:02 am

Dachef, it will only be your display. try pressing f5 to refresh :)

10:02 am

Judi...thanks...you were right...hatless, to have no hat. Great, now missing an ant and a hat. Just plain carelessness, I think...

10:02 am

Judi, you are right! I can smell it from here.

10:02 am

Judi - Looks like a Black & Tan to me.

10:03 am

Thanks, Sprite. I'm a doofus for not seeing that.

10:03 am

10:04 am

11:33 am

Movieman, think of a word that means 'to cheat, swindle' that would also be the same score and # of letters, and change one letter.

11:33 am

Lola, you wouldn't believe it! The icon I found has moved from my computer and I can't seem to track it down. It's driving me as bonkers as this game of Babble!

11:33 am

Lola, I could do it in 2 but I probably wouldn't have car, licence or freedom at the end of it lol. Besides, my baby is with the car doc at the mo...so I will have to charter a private jet. Lotti, be there in 90 :)

11:34 am

fe7/fe8(pl.) To obtain or achieve by indirect, usually deceitful methods: fe***** a day off from work.... although the dictionary has an i in place of the first e

12:01 pm

Sprite, "tenue de ville" means upscale casual. No jeans, t-shirts, etc.

12:02 pm

Movieman, have you got the t8? Pluralise!!!

12:03 pm

Wow, am very impressed indeedy Anj...more than I bothered to do. Gah...I blame the lead singer of Dir en Grey...scarily obscure. Also just scary.

Lotti- behave!!! Punster- you are welcome :) Anj- I have a sister.....?

12:04 pm

tagless is a word! as much as ha7*** is. it's driving me nuts! anyone have a list of t's?

12:08 pm

Movieman: Ha7-40 -- No lid on your head.

12:08 pm

The Japanese market is weird tho' Miyavi_fan. I think only MCM, Loudness, Shonen Knife plus a few more recent acts have ever broken out. You should try listening to Johnny Panic, Crucified Barbara or Turbonegro. Same sort of stuff :)

12:08 pm

What aids do you all use? Am struggling here.........

12:08 pm

judi - the ea7 is the plural of baby birds of prey, and the t7 is a line, curve, or surface meeting another line, curve, or surface at a common point...

12:37 pm

Depends Alikat...ARE you into japanese music?! *fingers crossed*

12:37 pm

*sigh* Anj, I have regressed to earlier confused state :(

12:37 pm

alikat, people who play here are respectful to each other and try not to be rude. if you don't want to play by those rules, please go 'way.

12:38 pm

Well, i for one am a fan... my Fav is Bing Shing Wing Ding... by the Yellow RingDingTings

12:40 pm

trust me she is

12:40 pm

stuff this i,m out of here for din dins ta,ra

12:40 pm

ha7/64: 1st syllable sounds like what you get if you divide something equally with one other person. 2nd syllable sounds like a plural diminuitive. Hope that helps some!

12:41 pm

swmbo: you don't happen to be unchellmatt's swmbo do you?

12:41 pm

and we are supposed to be able to just intuit that you are kidding each other?

12:41 pm

Anj- two left to finish the puzzle? *whimper*

12:42 pm

Miyavi_fan, how did you get into MYV? Is it thru' anime/manga and all that??

12:42 pm

sorry, I don't knw a unchellmatt. Does that mean I am not the only swmbo??? Woe is me!

12:42 pm

who uses "intuit" in a sentence, yes i'm joking!

12:43 pm

alikat - 'kay. we have had a lot of new people on here in recent weeks who get nasty right off the bat. and i'm touchy today too - bad sleep. sorry i jumped on you.

12:43 pm

Uh...my friend hayley got me into j-rock. Now nobody can get me OUT of j-rock. But Miyavi, dir en grey and Ajikan are my special faves. Worth learning japanese for!

12:43 pm

I guess I use it. Never did before, but it seemed to fit. Now you should lighten up!

12:44 pm

Though I do have a lurve for anime and manga. Uzumaki...SCARY BISCUITS! Also a love for FMA *hangs head*

12:44 pm

swmbo: sadly you are not the only one. I'd love to be the only suebhoney, but alas, my nick is normally taken in most places, unless I get there first. I was lucky here :D

12:44 pm

i did lighten up- always have been "light" that's why i use "ahole" in a sentence and you use "intuit"

12:45 pm

swmbo- I've started using the oddest words since playing this game, maybe it's the babble curse!!!

12:45 pm

There's a curse on babble!? *runs away*

12:45 pm

hahahaha, lets try not to intuit a-holes then

12:46 pm

Too late, miyavi, you already got it!

12:47 pm

i guess i shouldn't have started my babble debut with- mcnastud, you ahole. probably not the BEST impression. but if you knew me, you would know that's just the way i talk and ahole is actually an endearing term -BUT right now, i'm arguing with a name on a screen, so this is retarded. sorry if i offended. i'll play nice i promise. now...back to trying to kick mcnastuds bootie

12:47 pm

Hey Anj, you have a list of T's? i am only missing three

12:48 pm

12:49 pm

12:49 pm

See? Dooooooomed is definitely strange! LOL

12:49 pm

okay, I am having a serious brain cramp; could someone give me an easier clue for the 7/64? I got the first half, but can't make the last half work.

12:49 pm

MCNASTUD, I HAVE NEW FRIENDS -I DON'T NEED YOU ANYMORE

12:50 pm

ha 7/64

12:50 pm

One more T to go, argh.

12:50 pm

12:50 pm

And the babble curse is complete..... :)

12:50 pm

Haven`t you two left yet? You`ll never get to Holmfirth in time. We meet at 8pm :)

12:51 pm

12:51 pm

Goddess, I beseech you -what is the last a?

12:52 pm

Punster, I have the a's, what have you got?

12:52 pm

Lotti, i'm a fast worker. Besides, Lola's sisters in on the deal now and Lola is being a bit shy with the details just now lol

12:52 pm

Punster- I am a goddess not telepathic! Do you know which one you are looking for? ;)

12:53 pm

I'm missing the al5/10

12:54 pm

12:55 pm

...only human... :(

12:56 pm

What do you want to know Anj?

12:56 pm

CadFan, I think so, but the word also refers to guns ;)

12:57 pm

Could someone give me a clue to the ha7/64? I tried to figure out sfneil's clue but I couldn't get it...

12:57 pm

can i just say that i suck at this game? i'm using like 4 letters peasant words....i only have 54 words...how many are there total?

12:58 pm

218 in total, alikat, and we all started out like that. ;)

12:58 pm

CadFan as far as I can tell yes, they are the same.

12:58 pm

Lola, is she like you? Come on, you piqued my curiosity and now you're batting me about like a cat with curtain tassle lol Stop playing with your food lol

12:59 pm

LOL!

12:59 pm

okey dokey, thanks. still doesn't help me find that word though. But I learned something new today

12:59 pm

i'm not a babblevirgin...i'm just inexperienced ;)

12:59 pm

Alikat, 218 in total, but only about 70 or so are in common usage so your 54 is looking good.

1:00 pm

Munner also begs another clue for ha 7/64. Por favor...

1:00 pm

Down to my last word. it's a f5. I have fa5/16, fa5/22, fe5/16x3. Just one clue is all I need. Prayers...lol

1:00 pm

LOL! No, not really. She thinks I am insane to spend hours every day looking for words on a computer screen, but then again maybe that is how the normal people think!

1:00 pm

218?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i'm doomed.

1:00 pm

At least you've got still some room for improvement, alikat. That's a beautiful thing :)

1:00 pm

Wah! I'm a babblevirgin...my very first day today *^_^*

1:00 pm

Sheila Rae still clueless on ha7/64

1:01 pm

Aah, but punster, I know that as soon as I help you you will leave ;)

1:02 pm

pouting.......anj! common usage? what are you saying? i know big words I DO I SWEAR...like um....INTUIT see? that's GyNORMOUS :)

1:02 pm

CadFan I'm sorry I can't come up with a better clue... it's a peculiar word!

1:02 pm

Oh it's okay - I'm low functioning today anyway

1:03 pm

punster- there are 4 x fe5/16's. What have you got?

1:03 pm

lol alikat...trust me, some of these will tie you up in knots. The secret is to use help like the partial letters look-up on www.a2zwordfinder.com

1:04 pm

CHEATER ;)

1:04 pm

Ha7/64 last 4 letters = one of your fe4/7s. first 3 letters: sounds like "one part of something devided in 2" or like "possess".

1:04 pm

CadFan try this: take your ha5/16 and stick a double consonant in the middle of it.

1:04 pm

Uh...anyone got any hints for me? I am, after all, blond. Please? And quite a dim blond at that. Rescue poor little me!

1:05 pm

I am afraid I am too dumb to be blonde. Can't help you there :)

1:07 pm

The blonde excuse is beginning to lose its power with me - Sprite calls blonde all the time, and she's always helping me out of jams :)

1:07 pm

Too dumb to be blond?! Woah, you got it bad. No offense. *hangs head* Though I am quite spectacularly rubbish at this game. Been trying for ages but have only got 30 words! ~shame~

1:07 pm

ha7/64 is a scottish word meaning cheek & temple Two syllables, first sounds like a word for 'divide by 2' but take out the L. 2nd is Boba the bounty hunter less the last T Put 'em together and you get a ha6...put an S on the end and you get a ha7

1:08 pm

CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW MANY WORDS THERE ARE TODAY

1:08 pm

Krys10, that's a 2-way street, you always do the same for me!

1:09 pm

Thanks for the help, Anj...but...uh...what does it mean? *hangs head in shame* It's only my first day! *sobs*

1:09 pm

218

1:09 pm

THANK YOU ALL!! I just got it.

1:09 pm

Which bit Miyavi_fan?

1:09 pm

I think I miscounted again. I have fa5x2 fe5x4. All I know is I'm missing 1 f5. Sorry for the confusion, Lola :-(

1:10 pm

Thank you...well depressed now

1:10 pm

*blushes* All the seemingly random numbers...

1:10 pm

Sprite, I think it's the time difference - iffen I get to bed on time, you get a good 8 hours head start on me... I appreciate the benefits!

1:11 pm

peter- do you have the fa5/22?

1:11 pm

Help! I need a h6 to finish and it is completely eluding me. I have: ha4/7 x 3 ha5/16 ha7/64 ha4/10 ha5/22 ha4/7 ha5/16 ha6/27 ha4/7 ha5/16 ha4/8 ha4/7 ha6/27 ha7/40 ha5/16 ha4/7 ha5/16 ha7/40 ha4/7 he4/7 x 2 he8/55 he5/16 he4/7 he5/16

1:11 pm

Yes, sorry.

1:11 pm

Krys10, I am ever so grateful the new grid doesn't come up when I should get some sleep, but in the morning, lol. I couldn't withstand the temptation, I am sure.

1:12 pm

oh right, sorry :) ha7/64 means: - start with the letter H - second letter is A - the word contains 7 letters - and is worth 64 points 4 letter words are face value, 5 = x2, 6 = x3, 7 = x4 etc Does that help?

1:12 pm

Ah, this horse has been led to water and made to drink!!! I have the elusive ha 7/64 thank you ever so much for all the help.

1:12 pm

...and now you understand why I am chronically sleep-deprived and grouchy to alikat :)

1:12 pm

Hi Yoink are you at the Galpharm this weekend?

1:12 pm

Aah, found it and (surprise, surprise) it's me who was wrong, sorry :( there are 5 x fe5/16.

1:12 pm

Yoink, try making your H7 singular :)

1:13 pm

Thanks Anj! That does help...don't blame me for my slowness, blame whatever force of nature made me the way I am "^_^

1:13 pm

Anj- nobody does the clues like you babe ;)

1:14 pm

Argh, how annoying! Thanks Sprite, and I'm done, I can take the evening off now.

1:18 pm

All my prayers have been answered by my wonderful Goddess! The Goddess of Obscurity (Words) lol Thank you Lola, I would not have finished without you. We make quite a good team eh? You figure out all the words and then help me with all I'm stuck on. ;->

I see what you mean...but I prefer to say that he's a pretty boy! I think to enjoy his music you have to be fairly open minded though. (To enjoy dir en grey you don't need to be open minded, you need to be mildly insane)

3:14 pm

Dover, Arkansas doesn't even have any exciting t-shirts, alas...

3:15 pm

3:31 pm

Wahey, thanks for helping her, Jen...I'm thanking you on her behalf and mine, since I won't have to listen to her moaning at school tomorrow. Arigato

3:32 pm

Miyavi, it's a mix of heavy punk & harcore rock. Something with bite :) LOZZI! a clue for you: 6 letter word - what do you do iif you start a journey or light a firework?

Ah, Lozzie, why are we arguing over moaning when Gunther the caterpillar has gone to his last resting place? That being the bottom of Mel's shoe. *shudders*

i need 3 more grrr!!!!!!

3:37 pm

Miyavi, it's not as bad as it soundsl. In this country hardcore could be defined as anything that Radio 1 won't play lol

3:37 pm

I only started playing this game last week, and Ive just realised that Ive just spent my ENTIRE day off sat in front of my keyboard getting excited about finding a four letter word. This stuff is so addictive it should have a government health warning on it!

3:38 pm

okay, Lozzie...another clue, and this one is including french. (I'm dead cultured, me) to have no chapeau

3:38 pm

Okay, my all time high so far 1198! Could someone give me a good clue that will take me over 1200 so I can quit. PLEASE--I must quit!!

3:38 pm

dachef- LOL! Welcome to the babble inner circle :)

3:39 pm

also, is there a particular strategy you guys adopt when trying to complete the puzzle - Ive just been doing it pretty randomly and Im still 40 odd words short?

3:39 pm

hehehehe...well, I can guarantee radio 1 won't be playing DeG!

3:39 pm

dachef- yes, there is a strategy: eat more chocolate, drink more coffee and beg for help :)

3:40 pm

Sheila Rae, how about a ta7/32? Meaning to suddently change the topic of conversation - go off on a T...... :)

3:40 pm

sod the coffee, over the course of this one Ive reverted to the jamesons!

3:41 pm

thank you, but I have that one. How about the ne6/27?

3:42 pm

*yawns* woah...@_@ I need coffee, now. Gah...only about 200 more words to go...then I'm done! shouldn't take too long, hm?

DIS ISNT ADDICTIVE FOR ME! I FIND IT BORING PERSONALLY! No disrespect to ppl who like it... but i cant consentrate on it for long! AND I NEED 3 MORE WORDS!

3:43 pm

Or you could do that! Seriously tho', I copy down any posts of letters and use those as a guide. When all else fails try a2zwordfinder.com for the more obscure words :)

cathy have you only dun 18 words?!?!?

3:44 pm

What is enjoyable in this site is trying to figure out people's clues. I was bored at first until I began deciphering clues.

3:46 pm

Sheila Rae, that ne6/27 means tidy, ordered as in handwriting - 'he/she/it* copied the letters n......' * one of each ;)

IM SO PLEASE WIT MASELF I FOUND 1 MORE WOO! I STILL NEED 2 MORE THOUGH!! I FOUND A SWEETY THAT I KNEW WAS THERE BUT COULDNT FIND! LOL O WELL! WOOO GO ME

5:35 pm

Nice one :) I get by on trial, error, typos & swearing myself lol

5:38 pm

As they say in Mexico, sfneil, Muchos Thankyous!

5:39 pm

Er, not so great at posting off the cuff, though, apparently... should be "I'm and old hand..." doh!

OMG IM DUMB!! I GIVE UP ON 2DAYS!

5:45 pm

lozzi, you're not dumb! becoming good at puzzles like babble requires a set of specialized skills that take time and practice to develop. If you keep at it, you'll become as good at it as anyone!

5:45 pm

You'd think after all those years of watching Three's Company, I'd have gotten the ka6 sooner.

5:47 pm

LOL smithchick I watched it too, but the ka6 I have doesn't seem to fit, unless Mr. Furley wore one?

5:52 pm

The 2 I had left!!!!! I can't belive I missed those!!!!! I am so pi$$ed with myself for missing those! Cheers everyone for your help thru the day! This is my first solo 200 (i.e. hubby didn't come behind me and fill in the blanks)! Have a great night all. :)

5:53 pm

Congrats, Jen, on completing your first 'solo'! Have a good night.

im dumb man!

SWMBO, slightly different version of Three's Company. Mrs. Roper wore one. Although Mr. Furley may have. You never know!

5:59 pm

ka6...A full-length garment with elbow-length or long sleeves, worn chiefly in eastern Mediterranean countries. (in the US, it's usually spelled with a C at the beginning)

6:00 pm

Oh, yes, i forgot Mrs Roper!!!

i wud lyk 2 apologise sum1 has hacked me and is typin

6:01 pm

OK, how about a clue for the ka that is NOT the garment, the electrical one or the 4 letter one that ends on 's'???

6:02 pm

Lozzi, how are you doing with the game? Have you got enough words for your homework?

6:04 pm

swmbo, there are 2 ka4s that end in s! (Sorry, I don't know definitions for either.)

6:05 pm

For the rwo ka's ending in s you can either go straight down the grid or veer slightly to the left.

6:06 pm

Yeah, they're pretty much the only two possible!

hey has ne1 got any gd words for me plz

6:07 pm

the one that doesn't end in S def:Any of a subgroup of unstable mesons that consist of an electrically charged form with a mass 966 times that of an electron and a neutral form with a mass 974 times that of an electron, produced as a result of a high-energy particle collision Sorry it's so long, but that's what enable gave me! ;)

Haz ye i do thanks! JUST! but it took me 6 hours and i still only have 20 n i needed 20 but im playin 4 fun now

6:09 pm

Okay who said that reality could keep interupting me today.... I am still where I was an hour ago

6:10 pm

Lozzi, glad to hear you've got some words. Keep looking and reading the clues people give. Do you understand how the score works ? Sometimes knowing the numbers helps you to work out the letters you need to make a particular word.

6:10 pm

Thank you all! the last ka means the sounds you make when your need to clear your throat LOL

6:12 pm

Lozzi how old are you ??

6:15 pm

I am still searching for the 9 letter word. Any help? If it is a plural of an 8 letter word, I would need help with that as none of the 8 letter words I have can be pluralised.

14

6:16 pm

To9/54. Another way of saying to add up.

6:17 pm

Nine letter word build on to 5/10 it will not make written sense but will get you the nine letter word

6:17 pm

swmbo, it's not a plural, but a second person present tense of the t8/40 -- do you have that?. (Looks like a plural, though.)

6:17 pm

You are doing very well lozzi!!! :)

ahh ma letters r switched rnd im 13 nt 14

6:18 pm

Lozzi, did your English teacher set the homework?

6:18 pm

I have the t5/10 but for the life of me I can't find any sensible addition. Did I say SENSIBLE???

6:19 pm

Swmbo - there are lies, dammed lies and statistics...

6:20 pm

swmbo, when you want to be general, you general--- same ending (brit spelling, tho')

6:20 pm

doyou have the to word that means the end result of adding up numbers ??

6:21 pm

hiya ppl im rebe !!! how many words has every1 got

6:21 pm

if a calculator adds up the t, then the person that adds up the t would be called?

6:21 pm

WOW thanx for the help! I was all around it!

6:22 pm

We were all willing you on!

6:23 pm

Yeah ...

6:23 pm

I need clues for the fe 7/44 and fe 8/60 Pretty please

6:25 pm

Blaze, fe7 is " To obtain or achieve by indirect, usually deceitful methods", but it's an unusal (to me) spelling. f8 extends it.

6:25 pm

no meaning for the fe7, but a word with a very similar meaning (2nd letter i not e) means To obtain or achieve by indirect, usually deceitful methods or To cheat; swindle. The fe8 is its plural

YE MA ENGLISH TEACHER SET THE HWK

6:26 pm

Rebe - we're all at various stages of trying to find 218 words.

6:27 pm

lozzi, where are you located?

6:27 pm

yh i na i just need help lol !!! wots the longhest work u git

U K !!!

6:27 pm

Well, lozzi, I think you did very well for the first time. You shouldn't put yourself down by saying you are dumb because you are NOT!

Yes It took me 6 Hours trying to figure out these codes!!

6:28 pm

swmbo thanks I tried the original spelling several times to no avail... no I am only 58 words away and reality is striking again.

6:28 pm

hello

6:29 pm

Hi cathy!

6:29 pm

Rebe - I take it you meant what is the longest word anyone has got?

6:29 pm

You did great! And I think this is a very wonderful game to play for english students! Wish I'd had this when I was teaching!

Hi, new to this and confused, still trying LOL

it took me 16 hours 2 do this hwk!

that is not my fault!! i have too many friends online...

6:31 pm

Ms placed hang in there you will get it...check out the rules and then just start looking for words.. the chat log always has clues and info too....

6:31 pm

Lozzi - go to bed, get a good night's rest and hopefully when you do the puzzle again you'll have a better idea of what is going on and you'll enjoy it more.

6:32 pm

MsPlaced - get out while you can - this game is very adictive LOL

My m8s goin 2 bed who i was talkin to anyway so im going! BYE PPL!!

lol thank you Blaze and FM

6:33 pm

Sleep well, Lozzi!

6:34 pm

yh i did whats the longest word u got then

6:35 pm

Msplaced - Welcome to the madhouse! This game is confusing at first but is totally adictive. The chatline is good fun, people are very helpful & there are some great clues. Enjoy!

thank you snow

6:35 pm

Longest word in this grid is 9 letters

6:35 pm

The longest word is a 9 letter word, starting with to and givng 54 points. It means to add up. See if you can find it.

6:36 pm

Night lozzi, sweet dreams

6:37 pm

Rebe - if you look further down the chat log, there are lots of other people's clues for the 9 letter word.

6:39 pm

anyone seen brandyjack today? he has great clues!

6:42 pm

ok going to try my luck again - any clues for the se7?

6:42 pm

Well, 84 words to go, but I must retire form the field. Nytol!

6:42 pm

just tell me wat the nine letter word says plz

6:43 pm

se7 is plural of se6/36

6:43 pm

well unfortunately I don't have that one either!

so confused what does se/6 mean?

6:45 pm

se6/36 is something that brings out or enhances something else by contrast

6:45 pm

Se6/36 means a word that begins with se, is 6 letters long, and has a score of 36 points.

6:46 pm

se6/36 - means the first two letters are se, its 6 letters long and worth 36 points - check out the rules link on the top right for help

6:46 pm

Hello fellow babblers. I'm all done at 218 words for 2938 points. Anyone want any clues for anything before I go?

6:47 pm

sfneil - brilliant clue!

6:48 pm

Thanks, Haz1558! Hope it helps Kristin!

6:49 pm

well unfortunately no, and with oneacross.com not working either, it makes it that much harder - i'll keep trying though sfneil!

6:50 pm

also, if you take the first 3 and last 3 letters of se6/36 as two separate words, it sounds like what you do when you start out or embark on a journey

6:50 pm

se6/36 - Good clue sfneil. If that's not clear enough then you could think of it as a compound word (2 or more words put together) and something that you might do to a firework or to begin a journey.

6:51 pm

Jacula, you've kept awfully quiet tonight. Were you feeling anti-social or just determined to finish?

6:53 pm

Hi Haz. Are you saying I'm a chatterbox? LOL. I've been busy all day and so have done most of the puzzle on paper first. Then I spent from 9pm-10.30pm watching '49Up' on ITV (a programme I've followed since it began in 1964).

6:55 pm

Did you enjoy the programme? I've seen a few of them but wasn't free to watch this evening.

OMG I got the se word finally lol thanks for the clues, will return later, maybe I can see more words

6:56 pm

goodnight all- retiring early tonight with 77 words to go but have 3 grandchildren under 6 for the next 2 nights and need all the sleep Ican get! Good luck and happy babbling

6:57 pm

Yes, Haz., it was interesting to see what had become, or was becoming of the people. The second part is on same time next week if you've time to watch it. I'm hoping that the chap who was ill and homeless 7 years ago is now on the up. We'll find out next week.

6:57 pm

Oh, Jacula, that's a great series. The last one I saw I think was '42 Up'. I've seen them all but this last one, which will hopefully air here sometime soon. How's everyone doing?

6:58 pm

Never mind, you answered while I was posting!

6:59 pm

Goodnight SnowyOwl. You'll need your rest! Have a good time with your grandchildren.

7:01 pm

Thanks Jacula I know I will. Once they're abed tomorow I'll be babbling so hope to link up then

7:01 pm

Goodnight, snowyowl!

7:04 pm

FINALLY!!!! Thanks guys for being patient with me :)

7:05 pm

Well done for being persistent!

7:05 pm

congrats, Kristin!

7:06 pm

I'll post a link to an article about the 49Up programme, sfneil. http://media.guardian.co.uk/site/story/0,14173, 1569504,00.html

7:07 pm

I cut the link onto 2 lines in the hope that it wouldn't 'burst' the chat log like someone's link to yesterday.

7:08 pm

Well done, Kristin. The more you play, the more you get used to finding the words.

7:09 pm

Thank you, Jacula! That looks very interesting!

7:14 pm

I'm all through for tonight. Did better than I thought I would - 139/1874 - nite all, happy babbling.

7:14 pm

Goodnight, ExWren!

7:16 pm

Time for bed. I'm at that stage when frustration sets in that there's no r to make fork, no o to make elision and no e to make ageless. Good night all.

7:16 pm

Goodnight, Haz1558!

7:18 pm

Goodnight Haz & ExWren. Sleep well.

7:22 pm

is there a ha7/64, is so any clues before i retire for the night please its driving me mad.

7:25 pm

Has brandyjack posted his list yet, please? I would look back but this site has been behaving so strangely today. I'll only go back if I know he's posted. It may just be me, but isn't this grid especially annoying today?

7:26 pm

don't think brandyjacks been on all day, but it was posted first thing this morning by someone else.

7:26 pm

Today's 'Not There But I Still Keep Seeing Them' words were: gentlefolk, confess, gutless, falter, tinsel, agent, silly, lesion, sofa, fake, takes, annotate, issue, effete, offend, baffle, ugly, listen, glisten, yetis, yeast. We had a Greek cheese but no 'Stilton'. We weren't allowed to 'naff' or 'laff'. We couldn't go to 'Eton' or watch 'Tenko' with 'Tessie', 'Anton', 'Anne' & 'Offa'. Neither could we ring 'OFTEL' nor view the radiant brow of 'Taliesin'.

7:27 pm

oggy, there is an ha7/64, and it's a very peculiar word. Apparently it is scots for "sidelocks", which seem to be the same as either "cheeks" or "sideburns", but i suspect that is little help. The first syllable sounds like what you get if you divide something equally with one other person. The second syllable sounds like a plural diminuitive.

7:28 pm

What about feng as in feng shui??

7:29 pm

lol, Jacula!

7:29 pm

Oh, Talieson would be fine. there are no gentlefolk or lenses, not even a pair of glasses. It's the grid of a thousand potential, almost words.

7:30 pm

LOL, Kristen. Now you've got me seeing 'Ferengi' in the grid! Oh, I forgot. It seems 'henge' isn't a word either. In that case, I've no idea what those stone circles at Avebury and Salisbury Plain etc could be!

7:33 pm

thanks, but still cant get it going to bed instead, happy babbling

7:34 pm

jacula - drives me nuts it takes some words that have NO definition, yet doesn't take henge or feng!

7:34 pm

Oggy - (Clue coming up) - Sorry it 'affects' you like that but if you remove a 'see' you will find the word.

7:36 pm

Jacula - now that is a clue I understand - thanks I was missing that one too and it was my last 7 word!

7:36 pm

Kristin - I know, but we have to go with the dictionary used by the game.

7:36 pm

Good clue. Thanks Jacula. I still feel hately about this grid however. It is the hateliest grid I've seen yet.

7:37 pm

Oh, I dunno Mab. Last Sunday's was a corker at nearly 400 words.

7:38 pm

'Hately'. I like that word. It's like 'fegubrious' (a word I made up about the grid a while ago).

My Hero!!!

7:40 pm

'night, oggy.

7:41 pm

Hi Jack! (I'm allowed to say that to him 'cos it's how people greet me, too. I just tell 'em never to say it to me on a plane.) I've got a net friend called 'Jean' and we chat with a guy called 'Rick'. So, after he's said 'Hi Jacq' and 'Hi Jean', we reply with 'Hey Rick'. LOL.

7:41 pm

What, no friend called Jynx?

7:42 pm

Nos dda Oggy.

7:42 pm

Not so far, Jack. LOL.

7:43 pm

Oops! Slipped a double d in there (not the beer or the bra!) meant nos da.

7:46 pm

Thanks, Jack. Someone earlier today posted all of the second letters with point values, which was very kind, but I so much prefer yours. The other makes the game too easy.

7:47 pm

it won't take feng or henge, but it takes ag4/8??????

7:49 pm

where you been brandyjack - you've been quiet today

7:50 pm

Crashed before game started and just been too busy cooking breakfast, driving brat to school, work, shopping, cooking supper, cleaning up the mess, driving everyone everywhere. Finally got a few hours to meself. Only till the other half gets home then it's back on the road again for me.....

7:51 pm

Oh, sfneil! I mean no offense at all to you. Your list was amazing and very kindly meant. Thank you for it. I guess I just have a thing for Cappie's list because I've become so accustomed to it.

7:53 pm

No offense taken, mab! I offered, and there was some demand, so I posted it. I figured people who wanted more of a challenge could ignore it.

7:53 pm

Now if my husband would have been even half the man you are, I'd have stayed married - your wife is a lucky woman!

7:54 pm

You want a valet, chef, and driver, brandyjack.

7:54 pm

I like the point socres on the big words. Makes them findable even if you don't know what them high falutin' things means.......

7:55 pm

Mab - I sometimes post 2nd letter lists up. They can be a great help. Mind you, I do most of the puzzle on paper before I key the words in. That way, I can carry it around with me as I get on with my chores.

7:56 pm

I prefer my own cooking, I WILL do my own driving (the rest o' you lot are dangerous), and as for having some guy show up in my room when I'm not dressed. Uh, NO.

7:56 pm

I actually got the fe7 & 8 because I remember my Mum using the words.

7:58 pm

Jack - Me and my partner are pretty good cooks and so when we go out for a meal we often find ourselves saying, 'We could have done this better at home!'

7:59 pm

I won't go to places like that......

7:59 pm

And they are great. Whenever someone posts a list I refer to it, in fact I become overly dependent on them. I think it's very generous to post such lists, I don't mean to denigrate them at all.

8:00 pm

Thanks for the clues to the fe's Jac...

8:01 pm

Fuunny, I don't mind so much when men show up in my bedroom...

8:01 pm

Jack - I didn't give you any clues?? Or are you asking for some in a roundabout way?

8:02 pm

LOL Mab.

8:02 pm

Oh, but you did. And I only have 54 words so far, most of them in the a's and f's, and you can see where some bloody scotsman has been tramping all over the puzzle.....

8:03 pm

Yes, it is rather a tartan puzzle today, Jack.:-)

8:06 pm

For the Fe's I was looking for something along the lines of ferocius or festive. Your comment about your mum told me exactly what to look for........ Just about broke my eyestalks off twisting about to find them, but in the end......

8:10 pm

I saw someone bewailing the fact that you can't be 'antless' earlier: 'On woe is me! Where is my ant?' You can't be 'gentless' either (which won't please Mab). LOL. It also seems you can't have less of those pesky little gn4 &5's either, or less of those little kids (to4/4's). You can, however, be bereft of warmth and have no head covering(ha4/7) but you're not allowed to have no handle on your tool or weapon (ha4/10), or to be without cigarettes (the UK slang word for them which means something else entirely in the USA).

8:14 pm

There's a bird of prey and more than one bird of prey. EEE! And their baby and babies.

as much as i hear "eat less" i could have sworn it was a word. :o)

8:15 pm

That Sicilian volcano's erupting again.

8:15 pm

it is, but it's a curse word.....

8:16 pm

Surely you're not talking about the 'effs', Jack?

8:19 pm

Just any dieter......

8:19 pm

Sorry for the brief Babble burb. Everyone refresh to get rid of any gremlins.

8:20 pm

Done that thanks, Dr_God. How's it going?

8:21 pm

LOL, Floradivine. Try adding an 'h'.

8:21 pm

Does anyone have any feedback (good or bad) on the new Prev 50/Next 50 chat log feature?

8:22 pm

I've learned to turn off the icons before trying to read anything beyond the first fifty.....

8:23 pm

Mine's bad feedback, I'm sorry to say. Damned thing kept jumping everytime anyone posted, making it impossible to read or to c&p good clues to notepad.

8:23 pm

brandyjack- Even with the new "50 per page" feature?

8:24 pm

Haven't tried turning off the icons. Will try that later.

8:24 pm

Jacula- Yeah. I'll be fixing that soon hopefully.

8:25 pm

Dr God, I think it's very much an improvement. One can page through the log and have each page load completely quite quickly now.

8:25 pm

Have to admit I haven't tried that yet. Sort of noted it's existence, but hadn't thought of it's usefulness, having given up on trying to read the entire list.....

8:25 pm

What sfneil said. I like it.

8:27 pm

It is a handy feature, blindingly fast too.

8:27 pm

Dr_God (and the rest of you). I enjoy that chat log for its clues and banter almost as much as doing the puzzle. I tend to read through it in its entirety after I've logged in and keyed in all the words I've done on paper.

8:29 pm

Definitely not used to being disconnected like this. Don't like it much either...

8:29 pm

While you're here, D_G, have you seen the occurances of overlength posts forcing the word list to the bottom?

8:30 pm

torgone- I haven't. When was the last one?

8:30 pm

..apparently only in IE..

8:30 pm

Yes, Jack. I shut the site down and opened it up again to get restarted. Pressing F5 just didn' work. I've also found that the site's natural refresh has slowed down so much that I have to press F5 to see what I've just posted.

8:31 pm

Earlier today, about 1:30ish I think.

8:31 pm

I have noticed a delay in seeing my latest post show up.

8:31 pm

Torgone. Yes, I believe that does only happen on IE. I come through Firefox to this site.

8:31 pm

Jacula- When you post, it sometimes doesn't automatically show up. It will only show up the next time the chat log auto-updates itself. This can be 10-15 seconds sometimes.

8:32 pm

hello all....glad to see that i just needed to refresh, i had no words listed. dr_god since i see that you're on here, the new next to 50 has some glitches, and maybe that is what you're working on. i had trouble this am, and i got rid of the icons, i always do when i open the whole log, but it kept moving when i was trying to read and then i would have to go to the next page sometimes, kinda weird, but i guess something i could get used to...

8:33 pm

Sorry Dr_God. I guess I'm just an impatient Taurean type. LOL. 'I want it and I want it now.'

8:34 pm

I see what you guys mean about long (or wide) posts. It's actually caused by loooooooong words (longer than the chat log is wide.) I'll have to do something so that long words like that wrap rather than stick out the right side of the log.

8:35 pm

I'm no expert web-site builder, Dr_God, but I think the site's new popularity may mean that you have to separate the chat log and have it on a side bar that we have to click onto. I may be talking absolute twaddle, of course!

8:36 pm

Incidentally, the 'wide' thing happens on many message boards and forums if someone goes a bit mad with ???'s or !!!'s or ---- etc.

8:38 pm

Hello Baggo.

8:38 pm

Ok. I fixed Anj's "wide" post from ealier. So if you refresh, everything should look normal. (Unless there's another wide post somewhere.)

8:39 pm

hey jacula, what's up?

8:40 pm

My last post assumes you are currently viewing the entire chat log (which I doubt many of you are.)

8:40 pm

Don't think there's another wide post, Dr_God. I split my web site addy (for a write up on the programme 49Up) when I posted it. BTW, it is okay to post something like that, isn't it?

8:40 pm

dr_god, while you're here and maybe granting wishes, do you think that maybe there would be a way to put a box to let people list the big words that they have found, this might save on double posts...you could click it on or not if you didn't want to see it...

8:43 pm

Baggo - don't you think that the clue giving is one of the most fun parts, after the initial rush of first seeing the grid? People are so inventive and entertaining in the way they give clues. But, like you say, not everyone wants to read that. Having said that, the option to hide the log is there, or you can just presss your middle mouse button and 'WHIZZ'.

8:43 pm

baggo- I'm not sure that warrants taking up screen real-estate. ;)

8:44 pm

very true.. ;)

8:45 pm

As we chat, Jack's plugging away at the words I'll bet.:-)

8:45 pm

yeah jacula i see what you mean. i didn't see your post, before i replied to the great one. i enjoy giving clues, trying to think up fun ones is a great part of this game..

8:46 pm

Seems to be nicer connection after the three-finger salute...

8:47 pm

3 finger salute? You've lost me there, Jack.:-(

8:48 pm

eye eye captain....

8:50 pm

Why am I now singing that Captain Birdseye song? Damn! Now I'm thinking about fish finger sarnies, with a bit of salt & vinegar. No! I will NOT be tempted. Gotta lose weight before next July (when we're off to a quiet part of Crete).

8:52 pm

CTRL-ALT-DELETE.

8:52 pm

Don't do it Jacula...;) i'm so jealous, you guys are quite closer to such beautiful things. Not that we aren't here, but oh my the countryside...i'd love to visit crete. i think venice would be great...

8:52 pm

Anyone want a few more clues yet?

8:53 pm

f's are killing me

8:54 pm

an 5/10, got the one that deals with poker

8:55 pm

Sure Jac - I need the last se 5/10 if you will. thanks

8:55 pm

brandyjack, did you do your second letter post???

8:55 pm

it's a plural of the a4/4

8:56 pm

baggo - yes i did. less than an hour ago.

8:56 pm

It's still in the 'next 50' of the chat log.

8:56 pm

ok thanks...i got that one, need the other one...

8:58 pm

se5/10. American saint who has featured in this grid before. Failing that, in times gone by' workers would be 'se* **' .

9:00 pm

Well, the poker one is the one you have, so the other one is middle english. Is a preposition similar to about. Not used much now. I can't even think of a rhyme or anagram.

9:01 pm

Thanks Jacula - then realized I had that one. Now I have to hunt (as usual) to find which one I need. 1 to go

9:02 pm

Just to double check -the total is 218 right? If so I'm done. I will offer to help but it seems Jacula has you covered! (and me too)

9:06 pm

Clues for f's so far: fa4/7 - a place dedicated to a deity (God). fa4/8 - a sharp tooth (like Dracula has). fa4/7 - what befalls you. fa5/16 - plural of the above. fa7/40 - the kind of food dieters seek, and also seek to BE. fa5/22 - How the non-dieters go about. fa4/7 - What dieters and heart patients should avoid.

9:15 pm

continuing on with the 'f' clues: fe4/7 - it means 'faith' but think of little male cattle kept in the dark for making pale met & change the 1st letter. fe6/36 - an oath of fidelity made by a vassal to his feudal loard. fe4/7 - an act of skill, endurance, imagination or strength. fe6/36 - adriot or dexterous, neat & trim. fe5/16 - plural of fe4/7.

9:19 pm

bless you Jacula, got them all!!! thanks brandyjack found that word by noodling what i didn't think was a word. i've seen that word on here before...ty ty

9:20 pm

Do I need to continue with the 'f' clues now?

9:22 pm

not for me...thanks so very much. funny how you see a ton that you didn't realize were there after a point in the right direction

9:23 pm

Know just what you mean Baggo. That happened to me earlier with the birds of prey.

9:27 pm

Any more clues anyone?

9:28 pm

This is not going well...70 words left...bleh!

9:28 pm

i'm good just little words now, need to noodle..thanks jacula...love the hair by the way...

9:29 pm

I just came back after being gone all day..and, lol..poker thing?..like, full house..or what.?

9:29 pm

As in term for your bid...

9:30 pm

'Up the an**'.

9:30 pm

lianakate...did you go straight to the gutter on that one??? lol

9:30 pm

so with an A, eh?

9:31 pm

Baggo - Thanks. It is one of my many wigs for themed weekends away.

9:32 pm

Hi LianaKate. Have you been back to SWMBO's place yet? Also, Jack, did you manage to find your way back in there?

9:33 pm

okay..i am lost..back to swmbo's place?..and baggo..lol, mebbe so.

9:33 pm

Plural of your an4/4, Kate.

9:33 pm

lianakate, just nice to know i got company in the gutter.... ;)

9:33 pm

ohhhhh..i have that..duh ty, jac :)

9:34 pm

Same problem, no way to recover the password for Brandyjack. Too stubborn to use another nick. Same reason I'm not on AIM or Yahoo.

9:34 pm

Blimey Kate, she stsarted it for you. But you didn't get there?

9:35 pm

Jack - don't be so damned stubborn! We want you there!

9:35 pm

well, ..i have decided to keep away from this puzzle..with the exception of two hours a day..am not getting anything done..Today i came on for an hour this AM, came back on just now, and found another word..BUT, am not gonna try to finish it..am crazy enough as it is!!!!!!

9:36 pm

Wasnt 'chivas' was it, Jack? LOL.

9:37 pm

Kate - put the grid down on paper when you get up and just do the words as you can, then check your dictionary. Only come on-line after that.

9:37 pm

Perhaps one end of the horse..........

9:38 pm

Jack, I can't believe 'withers' was your password. LOL.

9:40 pm

i still dont get the swmbo thing, Jac..And, i found another word..just noodling..I think i still need 80..ack

9:40 pm

It might not even be my account. I think it is, but not sure. There is one other guy uses the same nick, but we don't usually cross paths..........

9:41 pm

Dr_God never told me whether posting site names was okay or not - though I did ask. http://p105.ezboard.com/bbabblersanonymous

9:42 pm

Jack - there's being cautious and then there's being paranoid. You can retrieve your original password from the site.

9:44 pm

You don't understand. The site is made with a client known as EZBoard which has a global database. As in worldwide. SWMBO has NO access to that database, and the owners aren't going to turn over an account with out proof as dictated by their secret questions. All of which I have failed repeatedly.

9:46 pm

arghhhhhhhhhhh..am confused!! I tried that site..nada. Then i read brndyjacks message..i hate not being in the know..(which is my wont..lol)

9:46 pm

Oh. Failed on purpose or failed, Jack? I ask because I am the cautious type myself. There are 9 of us on site now, when I just checked.

9:46 pm

Just spent 15 minutes looking for that fe6/36 before realising my missing one is the fe6/27...Ack..

9:47 pm

anyhooooooooo...am retiring for the night. Be well, and safe my friends!

9:48 pm

Kate. Google the site and then go to the blue underlined link after the bit that says we have no iformation on that site.

9:48 pm

cya kate!

9:48 pm

fe/27 fun loving, gay joyful, jolly....

9:49 pm

Of or relating to fetes and festivals.

9:52 pm

cya kate.. jacula...couldn't get it either, not that i am supposed to as i think you must be invited..but...nosy like lianakate...

9:54 pm

No you don't have to be invited. You can read it without being invited (which is not what I would choose for any site I set up). The inauguration process is rather long though. Not SWMBO's fault... just the board she chose. Myself, I'd have gone for an other chatboard or even an MSN room.

9:56 pm

Any more clues anyone?

9:59 pm

Jacula, I need two ge 5's. I have the normal ones. Would you mind a clue?

9:59 pm

How about the li7/40, miss?

10:01 pm

The 2 ge5's - one is a large jib used on a racing yacht, but you might know it better as a type of sponge cake. The other is 2 or more men.

10:03 pm

Thanks Jacqs. hately grid!

10:03 pm

Extend your li4/7. Means most beloved, most dear etc., etc. It's the kind of word you'd most likely find in a Will Shakespeare play.

10:05 pm

I didn't find it that hately, Mab.

10:06 pm

It's been a 'classics' students' grid.

10:07 pm

very true, jacula...

10:08 pm

"The Classics" for me is the Goon Show, or Marx Bros.

10:08 pm

That, my dear, is because you are infinitely better at this than I am. This is why I don't want to become list-dependent -- I want to actually improve my whatever, puzzle skill.

10:11 pm

Got it, Ms. Jacula! Thank Yew! I just learned a new word. Just 63 to go now....*sigh*

10:13 pm

Well, Mab, the way to do that is to look up the meanings of the weird words you find, my Dad dying of senile dementia certainly taught me the lesson, if I didn't and he didn't know it before (though we both did know it) that keeping you mind jumping is the best way of staying alive.

10:15 pm

Clues anyone?

10:16 pm

very true jacula, keeping your mind sharp is what my dad would call it. i have not only learned a multitude of new words from this game, but also from players in the chat log who call things differently in whatever their part of the world may be. I even have learned of new music that i had not heard of...boy i love this game..

10:16 pm

Yes, I think so too. I'm sorry you had to lose your father in that way, by degrees. That's sad.

10:17 pm

se7/52? I'm missing so many, I'll take what I can get at this point.

10:18 pm

Baggo! You're wonderful. And a Babblemaster too!

10:20 pm

ty mab, don't know about the master part, i just have a new addiction since my brother turned me onto this game in february. i don't think 100 people played then..maybe 150 at most, took forever to move up in the ranks...

10:20 pm

se7 is plural of your se6/36. What you might have done to many fireworks or to get on with many journeys.

10:22 pm

Still takes for bleedin' ever to get up the ranks, And I still can't work out whether or not it is better to try and fail or neve to have tried at all. LOL.

10:22 pm

Well, can't keep my eyes open any more. Night all..

10:22 pm

i can't believe that a group of hoodlums is the last word that i had to put in, i thought that i entered that hours ago.

10:23 pm

night brandy....

10:23 pm

Night Jack.

10:23 pm

oops that will be me when i finish the glass...night jack..lol

10:23 pm

Baggo - you are not alone. I enter words and it tells me they are not valid. So, I wonder to myself, 'Was I not awake? Did I type it in wrong?'

10:25 pm

Night, Jack. Sleep well and awake to a new 'taxi guy' day. That's family life, that is. And we love it!

10:27 pm

TYVM Jacula. More words I should have seen. Ah well, some days you get the bear; some days the bear gets you.

10:29 pm

you know jacula, about your question earlier it's always better to try something and give it your all, maybe to fail, but at least you don't regret not having tried or done it....

10:31 pm

That's true, Baggo.

10:32 pm

Not like it matters, but I have to weigh in with baggo on that. In hindsight, the things I regret most are the times I didn't try, without worrying about the consequences.

10:33 pm

Hi All - looking for AN5 (not the poker pot) and AL4 not the voice, brew or language word. Any clues? Please.

10:34 pm

Bit it does matter, Torgone. If our species had never tried (and failed) at things, we'd never be where we are now. Whether we're doing ourselves or the planet any good at the point we are now is a moot point.

10:36 pm

Jacula, are we talking about a town in Italy for the ge 5?

10:37 pm

no voice ones...the low female one and Pitched in the first octave above the treble staff; high

10:37 pm

should say there are 2 voice ones...

10:39 pm

Dianne - an5/10 is an archaic or business term for "concerning" or "regarding"

10:40 pm

i agree that some failure is good and to try try again. i just have a brother right now living with regrets over my father's death, and its put him in a dark hole. i for one don't have that as i listened to the voice the night before he died and called him..what a wonderful conversation...(just an fyi)

10:41 pm

Greetings, all; I'm new here. You'll find me climbing the ranks from the multi-hundreds to the less hundreds, but never fear, I will never have the time or inclination to chase you topfeeders -- too busy with the job and the wife to do this more than an hour or so once in a while. It is a heckuvalotta fun, though, so I had to say "hi" to my fellow geeks. a be lab ae la ab el babe ebb alb al blab abbe ale bale lea able ba!

10:42 pm

It's a pleasure to meet you Vin.

10:44 pm

Baggo: That's lovely, what you just posted. I strongly believe in listening with one's whole being.

10:45 pm

torgone - thanks for the help - I got the AN word. Any clues for the NO6 and NE5?

10:45 pm

Heya Vin! Welcome to Philosophy Corner. What's your take? Better to have loved (tried) and lost, or never to have loved (tried) at all? Also kick down with any clues on the big words.

10:47 pm

Jeez...How predatory, Torgone. Not that I know you or anything and not that I'm judging, just an observation.

10:49 pm

hiya vin...

10:51 pm

I think you scared him off, Torgone, you brute. With amusement I say this.

10:51 pm

ty mab for your note... dianne....ne5 pl ne 4/4 no6 means cognition, (the ending is what a brother may call the female....ter)

10:53 pm

Dianne, I don't have the no6. The ne5 I have is the plural of "orderly." mab - Predatory? I am excedingly satirical and sarcastic in my posts, all in fun. Just joking. Trying to have fun. ha ha.

10:54 pm

torgone, u always bring wonderful insight with you...just read your profile how great....mines so boring...vin...not that it's a biography, have you read newt gingrich(sp) on how the civil war could've been different...great take...

10:56 pm

I get it Torgone. I was amused and I meant to be sarcastic, not at all serious. I get the ha ha. Honestly. I'm a very amusing person myself. Truly.

11:02 pm

baggo - got the NO word - many thanks. Had the NE word all along (need to learn how to read my list better).

11:02 pm

mab - No worries! That's my way - a little confrontational, a bit angry, a lot of self-depracation. I like to challenge new people sometimes, just to get a feel. I love the play. I respect absolutely everyone here. Most of you are much smarter than I am, or better game players. I just like to kid around a bit. Sometimes that doesn't come accross clearly online.

11:03 pm

Hi! Real life got me the last few days and no time to Babble. :-( Looking in to see todays board. Won't be attempting it this late in the game. LOL

11:05 pm

you know torgone, we love you kidding...and you have wonderul insight...i have not noticed you to be confrontational, maybe you are on the nights i'm not working or up late.. you are thought provoking... ;)

11:11 pm

Looking for the Si5 and Si 6 (not the nap). Any godd, hand holding clues out there? Please.

11:11 pm

Thanks baggo. Maybe "confrontational" is not the right word. I'm not that way in real life. But with people I like and respect, I like to play around and joke with. It's all good.

11:13 pm

ok, here is the si6 Any of a group of silicon hydrides having the general formula SiH that are analogous to the paraffin hydrocarbons (now if that doesnt work how about the spanish word for yes and another name for a street, road avenue...or the place where the muffin man lives...drury....

11:14 pm

yyyyyyyy should you need the si5, if you have the si4/4

11:16 pm

torgone you tellin me ya like n respect me <blushing>

11:18 pm

Baggo - got the si5 (looked in the right corner!) and I got the si6 with the hand holding clues - those are the kind of clues I can follow. Thanks for the help.

11:18 pm

Evening...morning...middle of night to all :)

11:18 pm

hello debs how's it going???

11:19 pm

dianne you are so very welcome...this stage in the game take all ya can get and give all that ya can..

11:19 pm

Ermm... the babble as always kak... Life pretty similar....lol

11:20 pm

baggo - excellent clue! Not the silicon hydrides part, the muffin man part. And yes, I like and respect you!

11:21 pm

what else ya all need....

11:21 pm

Oh no not the muffin man again!....

11:22 pm

i wondered if you would catch that...you have missed my every changing icons...and i have to tell you that i have not laughed so hard in such a long time...

11:23 pm

I'm tryin to figure out what your latest one looks like.. It's one of ink blobs they show you and say what do you see!...

11:24 pm

no its the moon goddess

11:25 pm

Well there ya go then... I ain't saying what I thought it looked like....lol

11:25 pm

go to google click on images and type in save the whale to see one of my icons...i took it off and came to this one...

11:26 pm

There you go with the "fish" again....

11:27 pm

i'll be good i promise unless muffin comes on...

11:27 pm

You'll set Doogle off singing again!

11:29 pm

Any one got a hint on the TE5? Please.

11:30 pm

Which one?

11:31 pm

Oh theres only one... sorry..lol It's a shade of blue!

11:35 pm

haven't seen doogle much...he's engaged though..

11:36 pm

la la la la la!

11:37 pm

Hiya Doog... You engaged? Zebedee will be gutted... and as for poor Dylan!

11:38 pm

Yep, sho' 'nuff am! Looking at sometime next July, perhaps. This is my 2nd go 'round on the marriage thing, and I'm very much looking forward to being married to someone I get along with!

11:40 pm

I've been married twice...and divorced twice! Both time to twonks.

11:43 pm

Good luck and best wishes, Doogle!

11:44 pm

'Felididiampumptious' - that's a word I just used to my partner, t tell him how sexy he is. 'S a good word, isn't it?

11:44 pm

hello, you were lurking in the wings...i just had to calm a child who is upset cause 2 don't have school tomorrow and he does....ugh...thought 12 year olds were too cool to cry...

11:45 pm

I'm sure you'll be very happy Doogs.... May all your hopes and dreams come true xx

11:45 pm

Soory, got that wrong.... meant felididiaumptious.

11:46 pm

and jacula where did you ever find that word

11:46 pm

Anyone can cry, baggo. It's the universal language.

11:47 pm

I just made up up, Baggo, as writers do.

11:47 pm

Ripping word, nonetheless.

11:48 pm

torgone, i know, i have sensitive guys, but he's not the same kid that was battling his brother on nintendo not 2 hours ago....butt licker i think was the term used...

11:49 pm

I actually wasn't lurking at all. I just got home from a gig and logged on to see what was going on, only to find my name just mentioned. :) How nice to be thought of!

11:49 pm

love the made up word...how you say... fee laa did ee ump shuss???

11:51 pm

you're fun to chat with doogle...your fiance' is very lucky...it will work for you i know it....best of luck...and it sound like you two are friends...best way to start... 17 years here and been with him 20...

11:51 pm

Sorry Doog... Its just when baggo mentioned Muffin Man I thought of you....lol

11:51 pm

yeah but then you went straight to the fish debs...go on tell him...seen any mesocarp lately????

11:53 pm

Everytime since that day the first thing I look for is a type of fish!.....lol

11:54 pm

and guess what teats n tits aint in this puzzle...and no sperm either...still think resperm should be a word...

11:54 pm

Thanks, Baggo, Debs, & Torgone. I have a pretty good feeling about this one. :) I think I must be pretty fatigued, as I've naught that's naughty to add on the icthyological muffin front.

11:55 pm

that's okay...i'll for give you...just because jupiter is aligned with mars....and peace will guide the planets...and luuuuuuuuuuuu uv will stear the stars....

11:56 pm

Can just imagine that word being used in convo... "Oh, have you been respermed lately......lol

11:56 pm

Debs40ish. I've been married once (for a very long time) and divorced once and alone, bringing up 2 kids for a very long time. Now, I think, I'm 99 and 3 quarters sure, that I've finally found the right man - the guy I used to wonder if he was searching for me, as I went to sleep and wondered about him. I used to think he could be anywhere in the world, sitting on a beach or wherever and wondering where I was. Turned out he was inland and only half an hour down the road. BLIMEY! Life's a funny bugger, ain't it??
