3:47 am

Got the e7/36 - thanks for the help. Anyone have a list of the A words?

4:08 am

I've only found one t6 so far, are there any more?

4:14 am

ExWren - according to the list posted quite early there are 35 T words.

4:15 am

a 4 7 a 5 16 a 6 27 a 4 4 a 4 7 a 5 16 a 4 4 a 4 7 a 5 16 a 4 6 a 5 14 a 4 6 a 4 4 a 4 4 a 5 14 a 4 6 a 4 4 a 4 6

4:17 am

i cant believe that 'phaser' and 'taser' are unaceptable. Somebody should tell those guys at Star Trek.

4:18 am

I've got 27 T's but now I'm stuck, nowhere else to go.

4:27 am

IceBoy - Thanks for the A list. I'll start chipping away.

4:33 am

Good morning. This is such a disasterous waste of time. How does one tackle that number of words. Help for method PLEASE.

4:35 am

Alleyn 1. assemble coffee/food/music 2. go for all the words immediately obvious 3. search log/dictionaries for clues n tips 4. do something else for a bit 5. start at 1. again good luck, :)

4:40 am

Thanks!

4:41 am

Chessy - Thanks. Will try all that (what aids are best?) and for music read LBC every time.

A6/27 clue or second letter?

4:45 am

f

4:45 am

BrotherCaine, af6/27 ...

4:49 am

IceBoy - I am really stuck one the As. I have the 1st nine and I have the last 4. The problem is the 5 inbetween. I have 3 words that will go there but don't know in what spot. I have al4/6, ap4/6 and ar/44. Any hints for me?

DOH! thanks IceBoy and Chessy. Goodnight.

Dianne, what's behind the god of war?

4:54 am

Dianne, here are the 5 inbetween: al 4 6 ap 5 14 ap 4 6 ar 4 4 ar 4 4 you are missing the ap5 and another ar4

4:56 am

I usually start at the bottom end of the list, I don't have to keep scrolling down so much. done the W's, stuck on the T's so far

4:57 am

ExWren, i'm stuck on the Ts too.. still have 4 to go

5:04 am

IceBoy - thank you so much for the help with the A's. As soon as work stops interupting my Babbling! Hay you are doing fantastic with the T's - I don't even what to count how many I have (or don't have).

5:18 am

I can help with the Ts, got them. ta4/7 ta5/16 ta4/4 t a5/10 ta4/4 ta5/14 ta4/6 t a4/4 ta5/10 ta4/4 ta5/10 t a6/18 ta4/4 te5/10 te6/18 to4/4 to5/10 to4/4 to5/10 to4/6 tos5/14 to4/6 to4/4 to5/16 to6/27 to5/10 to4/4 to5/10 to4/4 to4/4 to5/10 tr4/6 tr5/14 tr5/16 tr4/6

5:36 am

IceBoy - I got the last two A's - many thanks for the help. I was feeling sorta like the last one I got.

5:36 am

OMG. Guess i won't be doing anything else today... Hi guys :)

5:37 am

You can do it Lotti :) Figures are like words. You can make them as easy or as complicated as you want :)

5:46 am

Wow lotti, sounds great! Good for you! The trick with maths is to let it know who the boss is from the start! You are going to do great :) Hi mom :)

5:46 am

Oooh lotti, I'm almost jealous! Talking of things sexy, is it too early to start the countdown to Dr J and the cowboy?

5:54 am

6:05 am

Good luck Lotti :) Remember if he goes too fast belt him with yer abacus lol

6:11 am

OK, a little help please :/ I'm monkeying the Ts at the moment for want of something better to do. I just tried about 10 diff combos for an assortment of 4s & 5s - no joy. But there's no other perms available..so I tried them again and this time they were acceptable. Someone, please, is this usual (as I don't monkey very often) or should I be committed? :'(

6:13 am

Hang on, Anj., I was just keying in all the words I've found on paper. That's 187. I'll see how many t's I've got.

6:13 am

You must have made typos while monkeytyping the first time, Anj... quite a performance, lol!

6:14 am

Anj, thank you! Thought I was going mad, I'm sure that happened with one of my S7's.....

6:15 am

Ony 13 t's out of 35 so far. Dunno if I can help, Anj. Have you got the Spanish bull ones?

6:15 am

That's what is scaring me Sprite :( If my typing becomes musch worse my next job will be with The Grauniad...

6:15 am

Yes it happens to me.Sometimes it doesn`t show a score, which indicates something is not quite righr other times the points vanish after a while and refresh causes a vanishing act.You can then retype and the words stay.I`m easily confused anyway so it doen`t help9Deep sigh)

6:17 am

Hi Sprite :) Mom, was that 9 deep sighs?! Maybe it's time for a coffee break? :)

6:17 am

Thanx Jac. I thinks so I have 32 Ts so far. I just seem to be going round in circles even tho' i'm using a methodical approach :/ There's only one answer. Oh Looooooolaaaaaaaa honey. Any danger of a coffee babe??

6:17 am

I'm fed up with the 't's....going to make some lunch instead

6:19 am

You can have a coffee when you've finished your T's :)

6:19 am

The kettle is on.New huge kettle I should say for mass brewing.Choc digetives too then I`ll feel better.Help yourselves everyone.

6:19 am

I listed the Ts somewhere in the log, so if you can find which ones you can't find, I might be able to help you find them. :)

6:20 am

Thanks mom :) Do you get caramel ripple digestives out here?

6:20 am

That should do the trick Macadam. Lola :P lol Thanx Sprite - will give you a shout if I crash & burn again :)

6:24 am

I can`t say I`ve ever noticed caramel ripple ones.It could be because I wouldn`t buy them so the eyes pass them by.

6:24 am

Good morning all! 347 words and I am going to be busy today at work. I will be in and out though and will try to finish!

6:27 am

Morning mickie :) Hmmm...my 147th word was the first 7...

6:28 am

Hi mickie :)

6:33 am

Morning Jack. Thanks for that.

6:42 am

Hi brandyjack :) Thank you!

6:43 am

But nobody asked for the P's and S's? They look like the mean ones to me. Not likely I'll get to do them, but....

6:43 am

Oh!:-( Think I might have to give this a rest for now. The water board chaps have arrived to fix my outside stop tap cover (which they originally broke) and they're cutting the pavement up just yards from my office window. The racket's horrendous.

6:43 am

Out to Callifornia... taking my son to see his GG (great grandma).

6:45 am

Well, if you are offering brandyjack..... :)

6:45 am

Ow, hey, quit twisting.......

Wow brandyjack - you're the best!

7:01 am

Lunch break time. Be back later :)

7:02 am

Good idea Lola :) Catch you later...

7:04 am

Just heard this on the radio: Two eskimos sitting in a kayak. They get chilly so they light a fire and the kayak sinks. Just goes to show that you can't have your kayak and heat it too.

7:05 am

lol :D Don't start me on bad jokes...

7:07 am

Today's icon is my other half after a long day's Babbling. LOL. (He'll kill me for this!)

7:08 am

Eat your heart out, Rodin lol

7:09 am

Yes, I thought he looked like The Thinker.:-)))

7:11 am

90 to go so time for a break. Back after a bout with the world outside the Babbleverse. ..and maybe with a new icon :)

7:23 am

lola, i passed your joke on to my daughter's boyfriend who's a big kayaker!

7:32 am

Right, back to find more words! Une- lol! Just goes to show that bad jokes travel fast! Strange to think that a joke on an SA radio station has just been told to someone in the USA. It really is a global village :)

7:59 am

so true!

8:00 am

Hey Une, do you get the feeling everyone else has gone to lunch and left us to babble alone?!

8:01 am

ah, but you never know who's lurking . . . :-)

8:01 am

lurk, lurk ...:)

8:02 am

LOL! Hi chessy :)

8:02 am

mornin. too many words!!!

8:02 am

Yo Lo, how're you doing?

8:03 am

do I need to make with the hugs? Hi Unie, Hi Chessy, Hi Lola :)

8:03 am

hey, anj

8:04 am

Hi Anj..

8:06 am

Hi begrery :) Never say no to a hug Anj ;) Chessy- good thanks and you?

8:07 am

bit daunted by the huge total lola - but no 'gessoed' today. odd that :)

8:09 am

Chessy- lol! Just go with the flow. It's not as bad as it looks :)

8:09 am

Somr of those PSs are back to annoy us tho' ...and I can't understand why Enable doesn't like stol :/ Short take off & landing. It lets u have jato which is jet assisted take off

8:13 am

Anj- have you finished the H's yet?

8:16 am

OOOOHHHH!!!! Big Puzzle. Time to dig in.

8:18 am

No honey, 3 to go. I'm hunting down a stray si4 at the mo. Do you need some moral support?

8:22 am

thanks for the help brandyjack...have a good day.

8:24 am

Always babe!!! I am missing an h5 and an h6. I am assuming it is a sing. and a pl. but I can't see it in the grid and I can't find it in a2z. Just wondered if you'd had the same problem or if I was being a ditz again!

8:25 am

I've got same 'h' problem lola.. can't find them anywhere

8:27 am

Lola, found them. first bit is anagram of holy headgear, add e, then plural ...

8:29 am

Only on 149 words - where do I turn for help??????????

8:32 am

Got them too - do you want a breakdown Lola? Or are you having one lol

8:33 am

Chessy- you are a star! However, if I forget that stupid word one more time I will have to punish myself!

8:33 am

Alleyn, Brandyjack posted the full 2nd letter breakdown earlier on. Sprite also posted all the Ts with their points That's a good start :) Other than that we're at your service :D

8:34 am

Anj- LOL! No, I'm chilling today. No stressing allowed :)

8:38 am

Lol...I'm much better than yesterday. Reality jumped on me in the form of a sick engine. 3rd main bearing has broken up so I was making all sorts of arrangements for parts, engineering & fitting. Major job unfortunately so i'm on my bike for a while now :(

8:39 am

Is there a reason why it won't take 'pilates' as a word? It's a pretty common word.....

8:40 am

Shame Anj :( What kind of car is your baby?

8:41 am

Miss M, it's not in the Enable dictionary yet, that's all. There's a few like that :/

8:41 am

it's probably jumping out at everyone else but I can't seem to find the ea4 . . .

8:43 am

Uneaixoise, you should be able to find it with ea..

8:43 am

um . . . ok . . .

8:43 am

Lola, it's a Fiat Coupe 20v VVT turbo. The engine is 80% OK - I caught the problem before it became terminal but it's still going to hurt :'(

8:44 am

une, without difficulty...

8:45 am

what an idiot . . . was starting from the wrong e and just couldn't see it!

8:45 am

I know how you feel. have that happen frequently :0

8:46 am

done that many times Une :)

8:47 am

Anj- ouch. Don't know much about cars but had a beemer once that cracked something in the engine block and cost the equivalent of a small country's annual first world debt! Stupid car that was :(

8:50 am

Egads...347 words! *faint* Good day everyone, i think i'll be feeling lucky if i get 50% of the words today. Thank you BrandyJack for the early postings of the 2nd letter listing...might help...might not...*sigh*

8:51 am

Oh my, I'm glad there isn't a 2nd 'l' in this grid. If there was it would lead to an fe7/40 & 8/55 that people would have a terrible time trying to describe politely. Mind you, might have been fun watching them try!;-)

8:52 am

Hi lbd. Remember, the babble grid can sense fear.... :)

8:52 am

Lola, I always spend whatever it takes on maintenance and it's regularly serviced, that's why it hurst a bit. The mechanic who's doing the word says it's the first one he's had go like that in 10 years :/ No warning or anything. Oh well...will change the clutch at the same time as that's an engine out job too so I can kill two birds... It's going to smart a bit tho'

8:53 am

.....thanks, Anj!

8:53 am

Morning everyone, from Atlanta. I have 3 hours before I have to be a the doctors. Sure would like to knock out half of these words by then...

8:54 am

Look on the bright side Anj, you'll work of some of the babble chocolate with the walking and cycling (glass should ALWAYS be half full!)

8:54 am

and you're saving the planet Anj :)

8:55 am

jacula- LOL! Now why is it that I found that 7 letter word in about 2 seconds and the others took forever?!

8:55 am

Hi munner :)

8:56 am

Lol...my bike will get a work out too :) Oddly enough, i'm not THAT bothered about a lack of car just now. I'm glad it happened whehn I can spare the time & effort tho'. Small mercies...

8:58 am

10:33 am

Hi all, I'm back for about an hour. Can't decide whether to tackle the S's or the P's... both look awful!

10:33 am

how are you doing movieman have you looked in the "door"

10:34 am

P's are absolutely horrific! I still have 4 left, but must actually do real stuff around house. Be back later! Good luck guys! :)

10:34 am

Me too, with white choccy kitkats :) Lo, the Ps aren't as bad as they look. Still missing an S tho'

10:35 am

yo, Anj...guess what, that pesky ps is back AGAIN! I think it's stalking us *paranoid*

10:36 am

Gee thanks Anj, make me feel like a total idiot for not finishing the Ps. ;)

10:37 am

Anj- does that mean you only have one word left to finish today?

10:37 am

I got pa8/50, thank you to the person who said their son was an officer... it helped... now only if I could get the se clue (it didn't like seapigs for some reason... LOL)

10:38 am

roncook - just got that dratted p...couldn't have seen it if it came up and slapped me (*SLAP*)

10:40 am

Hi mtn! Maybe if those pigs paid their ***** ?

10:40 am

the se 8 look at my profile

10:40 am

LOL!!!!

10:42 am

Hi Miyavi, it's a stealth word. It will probably sneak up on you again when you least expect it lol Lola, you're having a laugh... Anyway would I leave you?

10:43 am

Anj- I hope not babe ;)

10:44 am

Ron - ferryman - 'seafarts'? Surely not?! LOL.

10:44 am

Hey, you're looking at Mr Dependable :) mtn - great hint for the pa8, thanx :D

10:44 am

Wheee, got my first eight letter word by myself...not much but I'm sickeningly proud of myself.

10:45 am

Ron - I did get the real word thanks to you.:-)

10:45 am

Oh geez, so tempting... so much to do today though. Think I'll pass. Hope we get another big one on a day I have off. Have fun, y'all!

10:47 am

Anj, as fond as I am of Brian, I love your new icon! pretty colors...

10:47 am

Miyavi, quick shindemo boogie-woogie around the room then?

10:48 am

Cheers Krys, felt like bringing a bit of colour into everyone's life today :)

10:48 am

LOL.... I got it now... Hi Lola, at least I found fl8 in about 5 min. I was impressed.

10:50 am

Jacula, who is that a picture of?

10:50 am

*does mad boogie* There we go...

10:54 am

There are all sorts of naughty words in this grid. Sometimes I wonder about the dictionary we use for this game. (insert rolling eyes smilie here)

10:55 am

I know, Minski! Since I have a very immature sense of humour this is a verrry good grid for me *stifles giggles*

10:56 am

mtnJock - The pic is my other half after a hard day's Babbling. Like I said earlier, he's gonna kill me for putting that on here.:-)

10:57 am

Jacula, who does he babble as?

10:57 am

Woah mtn, I am impressed! I always ease into it with the four letter words first (and then try desperately to stick any two together!) :)

10:58 am

i,m out of here got to go cocktail time love those cosmopolitans. ttfn

10:59 am

I hate vowels, so I start there usually (and any easy words I see along the way) and found the o5, and then looked up the grid... LOL

10:59 am

Hey Anj, I wonder how lotti did?

11:00 am

Excuse me Lo, but i'm still getting myself under control after your last post roflmao :'D

11:00 am

mtnjock - 'paul69'.

11:00 am

Yeah, mtn, know what you mean. I hate the vowels too, I just can't seem to see them.

11:01 am

I haven't seen him chat... he must lurk...

11:01 am

She will do just fine, i'm sure :)

11:01 am

Gah...okay, I need coffee, now. Anyone else?

11:02 am

nice looking man though Jacula...

11:02 am

ANJ!

11:02 am

Miyavi, that's the one comment guaranteed to cause a stampede...frappe for me please :)

11:02 am

mtnjock - he pops in on chat when he's waiting around at work. Usually to ask me what's for dinner. LOL.

11:03 am

Lola, I know but there was just no way I could let that pass babe :D

11:05 am

Coffee's up

11:06 am

Cheers Miyavi :)

11:07 am

It's to make up for all the random clues you give me, Anj!

11:07 am

Yeah, I guess you're right... lol!

11:11 am

Lola, it just really tickled me :') Miyavi, have you got the Pa's meaning release from jail under conditions?

11:11 am

uh...I have now! Thanks!

11:12 am

Why won't it take fatarse? Seriously need help, missing 2 H's. Can someone give me a clue? ha 4 7 ha 4 7 ha 5 16 ha 4 10 ha 4 7 ha 4 9 ha 4 7 ha 5 16 ha 4 7 ha 4 9 ha 5 20 ha 4 7 ha 5 16 ha 6 27 ha 5 16

11:13 am

Miyavi, there are 6 in all (5, 2 x 6, 2 x 7 & 8) and a couple of the words mean a spoken statement but they all look more or less the same :)

11:14 am

*claps* yay, thanks again Anj! babble wouldn't be babble without your obscure clues!

11:14 am

Mary, ha5/16 - Hawiian for white person - ha627 is the plural :)

11:16 am

lol...Obfuscate is my middle name ;)

11:18 am

hm...so according to all your chat log enties, that makes you Anj Obfuscate Dependable... ...my name seems so boring now!

11:24 am

Shhh, don't tell everyone lol. Did you get all 6 words then?

11:25 am

Hm...am having to revert to thesaurus here, Anj...*ponders*...

11:25 am

*sigh*

11:28 am

Thank you Anj, by babbling I got it, but don't know anything about Hawaii. Thanks.

11:28 am

Anj, I got a few po words of the same grouping... I got the formally incarcerated, the search team, and the bell hop... did I miss one?

11:28 am

Ah, Mary...good old monkey typing!

11:31 am

I got 2 of the 4 w's... and clues on the other 2?

11:31 am

Mtn, i've got bell hop and search team, but i'm not sure about formally incarcerated... :/

11:32 am

8 letter pa

11:32 am

What's up Lola? Word fatigue??

11:32 am

Hi Everyone... I like today's icon Anj!

11:33 am

mtn- 2 W's are sad and 2 are heavy :) Do you have the po6 that could be what is left of your joint?

11:33 am

thx lola, staring me in the face...

11:34 am

No, okay now Anj. One of those little P's managed to put on camo but I found it anyway :)

11:35 am

Aaargh, have to go again, damn! Anj, how many you got left to find?

11:36 am

hmmm... follow lola's methodology, I took 2 small words and made a 6 po... LOL

11:37 am

ok, I've got 15/15 of the H's, blocking on an h 6/27 (I've got the hawaiian one). Could someone give me a hint? Gratzi.

11:38 am

strike that, got it.

11:38 am

fordo- the opposite of romeo and juliet?

11:39 am

Hi Ginger :) Hang on Mtn, I will run thru' the words I mentioned: pa5/14 - spoken statement pa6/24 - add an E to the end (early release from jail) pa7/36 - add another E to the end (someone getting that early release) pa8/50 - make it plural (persons getting early etc) pa7/36 - take out an E (gives early release from jail) pa6/24 - take out the other E - plural of the 1st pa5/14 'Owzat? :) Not out? :/

11:39 am

39 to go Lola :)

11:40 am

Will you be around later? May need nursing through the S's!

11:40 am

It's a date babe :)

11:41 am

hm...how many S's are there? I have about 20, I think...*counts on fingers*... ...I need more fingers

11:41 am

See you later then ;)

11:42 am

Miyavi- you have 20 fingers?!

11:43 am

I'm having a tough time with the e7, anyone know the 2nd letter. I know its definition and still can't find it. lol

11:43 am

I have 26 sp. Not sure if that is all

11:43 am

Greetings Babblers!

11:43 am

add a t in the middle of your 5/14 and you get 2 more.

11:43 am

Miyavi - 77 s's

11:43 am

you need lots more fingers ..... there are 79 s words!!!!!

11:43 am

Lol, Miyavi, did you mean that? There are 77 Ss today

11:43 am

correction: fingers and TOES... ...all my strangeness is on the INSIDE.

11:43 am

Hi Swimmy :)

11:43 am

77!!! *brain falls out*

11:43 am

Hey you guys i`m clevererererer than i thought i was!! Nice icon Anj, my kids have one of those *somewhere deep in the bottom of a toybox* I bet you`ve all nearly finished now :o)

11:44 am

Hey there Lotti :) Cheers, it's nice'n'bright lol How was maths masterclass then??

11:44 am

Hi Anj! Miyavi: LOL re strangeness!

11:45 am

Correction - 26 s's

11:47 am

Thanks Swmbo...though when I say on the inside, I'm not counting my hair ^_^ (my hair is very very bright pink...blond naturally. so that explains it)

11:48 am

Quite good I was suprised!!!!!!!!!!

11:49 am

Miyavi, coloured hair is normal now lol Even I have a purply black & brown mane :)

Hi Mom (Tap) - just jumped on during my lunch - sent you an email. Deb

11:51 am

Really? Wow! Though I'm getting some very nasty looks from my head of year at school...

11:54 am

Go Lotti! Today subtraction, tomorrow quadratic equations :) Miyavi, that's called jealousy lol. Inside every teacher there's a big firework waiting to go off and colour the place up a bit :D

11:55 am

heh...I think it's because he's bald, personally! Also my form tutor hates it, but if she says something to me, I will point out that beards are not all that attractive on women

11:57 am

hahahahaha Miyavi! That's going to get you in biiiiiiiig trouble girl. Smile sweetly and just think it to yourself lol

11:59 am

hm...I'll give it a try, Anj, but it may not be that easy. When it comes to smiling sweetly, I'm a bit out of practise. Evil grins are more my style...bwahahaha...

12:00 pm

LOL..i love the idea of a gal with bright pink hair!! If I wes younger i might try it myself...HA....*such bright kids in here*

12:01 pm

Hi Liana :) Miyavi, remember my cousin is a teacher which means I get the inside track on what they have to do, what they want to do, but above all what they'd LIKE to do lol

12:03 pm

Anj.. hi you! Am plugging along here..as is my wont. With not much schooling, I manage just fine..for the most part. Am thinking of dying my hair now..GREEN.

12:05 pm

omg..113 left to go, and am already running out of steam!!

12:05 pm

Wahey, Liana, glad to hear I've inspired you! Go girl! But Anj, if your cousin is in any way like you then she may not be as subhuman as most teachers! Either that or the teachers at my school are just mad. Which would explain soooo much...

12:08 pm

for example, my ITC teacher killed all the computers. And my food tech teacher exploded bread.

12:12 pm

hi

12:13 pm

Hey steady...... *hushed whispers to Anj and Miyavi* Macadam is a teacher!!!!!!

12:13 pm

Liana, green hair sounds good - GFI :) Miyavi, exploded bread? Does everyone steer clear of the chemistry lab then?? Time out - gotta go feed the animal - back later :)

12:13 pm

Seriously...and then there's my OTHER ICT teacher...who's hobbies involve flossing in lessons, using his own hair. nice.

12:15 pm

Lotti, if you break my old job down to its basics, so am I really lol Scary thought... :D

12:15 pm

i used to have a French teacher who used to spend the entire lesson with his hands down the front of his trousers. He was discreetly 'retired' early.

12:15 pm

Hi, MsP

12:16 pm

Argh, Dachef, how could you grow up normal after that?!

12:16 pm

uh-oh...think i've started something here. Better make myself scarce lol Serioulsy, food break, back later :)

12:16 pm

RUN FOR THE HILLS!

12:16 pm

Dachef that means "all" the boys in his class learnt something then!!!!!LOL

12:18 pm

*shudders*

12:18 pm

grow up normal! Normal! ME! HA! Actually, he did teach us something - dont stand in front of a load of schoolkids with your hands down your trousers if you dont want them to rip the p*** out of you.

12:19 pm

ROF PML

12:19 pm

Hm...a valuable lesson, I think...

12:21 pm

Um...just to change to a less sick subject, does anyone know how many words there actually are in the grid?

12:21 pm

You don't want to know Miyavi. Take my word for it.

12:21 pm

347

12:21 pm

Macadam USED to be a teacher.I saw the light!!!!!!!

12:21 pm

Hey Deb - Only have 125!

12:22 pm

Ladies and gentlemen, my brain has left the building...

12:22 pm

Hi Minski :) Miyavi how many you got?

12:22 pm

I thought I was doing so well with 100 words. (insert grimacing smilie here)

12:23 pm

*hangs head* 108

12:24 pm

Miyavi send the brain my way.It seems in good order unlike mine.

12:25 pm

Don`t hang head thats brilliant i`ve only got about 30 more than that :)

12:25 pm

I have found 245 words..most of them normal ones..thank god..now I need a break for my puddin' brain.

12:25 pm

OK, I need some "O" help. Any hints on Or 5/r and Oa 5/6? These are driving me crazy. Gratzi.

12:27 pm

Heh...thanks, Lotti, keeping my spirits up! Though Macadam, my brain is NOT in good order! I've had two hours of trig to contend with today!

12:28 pm

O : A type of gemstone.

12:28 pm

oa..dolts Or..to speak at length.

12:29 pm

the oa5 is a verb form of a breakfast grain.....

12:29 pm

You poor thing.I always hated math in all forms.

12:29 pm

oa 5...if I'm thinking rightly, the fancy word for verbal with an s thrown on the end.

12:30 pm

Heh...the only thing worse than maths is double maths

12:31 pm

or 5 - to do with mouths or speaking examinations.

12:31 pm

oops...oR 5. not oa. what was I saying about my brain falling out?!

12:33 pm

If it`s any consolation I went back to college today to do maths :) I was petrified, but i`ll put up with it!

12:33 pm

Go girl!!!!!!!!!!

12:34 pm

Wow...such bravery in the face of danger! You are an example to us all, Lotti

12:35 pm

How true.

12:36 pm

Just to look clever this evening i`ll tell you I got an A for my English GCSE that i sat this summer ;o)

12:36 pm

*applauds* Bravo!

12:37 pm

*Takes a bow * Why thankyou, thankyou !!!!! LOL

12:41 pm

gah! 115 words. must...carry...on...

12:43 pm

i started this grid this morning, and was plodding along rather well, or so I thought. Ive just come back from work - Ive got to 183 words and just hit the wall.

12:45 pm

Know the feeling! I sometimes wish they averaged it out so there could be 150ish words per grid :)

12:46 pm

O 5/6's I have OP 5 - the gem OR 5 - the speech OP 5 - the fishes OA 5 - Breakfast grain verb OA 6 - Breakfast grain verb plural still missing: OR 5 OR 6

12:47 pm

Heh...if my computer says "oops! you've already used that word!" ONE more time, I'm going to throw it out of the window! Whoever said violence solves nothing was talking out of their a4/4!

12:48 pm

fordo - pluralise!!!!!

12:48 pm

LOL Miyavi * :o)

12:48 pm

or6 - plural of the speech. or5 plural of or4

12:49 pm

are there really 2 ar 4/4? I can only find 1, the one that sounds like a plural state of being but means a land measurement

12:50 pm

Thanks Lotti, I like making people laugh! I do it a lot at school...only they're laughing AT me, not WITH me!

12:50 pm

2 x a4/4 - rearrange the letters to get a backside view!

12:51 pm

DUH. completely ignored the "speech" got it mixed up with the "test" Many thanks!

12:51 pm

Op fish?..hmmmmmmmm..none i ever ate..(that I know of) HA

12:51 pm

LOL chris - thanks. I thought of that, but when I looked in the past my dictionary only had the plural!

12:52 pm

Is there an O list back in the depths of the log? I am missing 2 and not sure which 2

12:53 pm

wow...I think my eyes are burning...maybe time to take a break, hm?

12:54 pm

See ya later Miyavi, have to go make tea myself in a mo i`ll be back later:)

Miyavi, has Ain't Afraid to Die ever featured in an advert?? Sounds mighty familiar... :/

1:14 pm

Not sure, Anj...I know several Ajikan songs are used as theme music for anime shows, but that's it

1:16 pm

Ah, Asian Kung Fu Generation. Gues I will have to check them out too...

1:18 pm

ah, they probably won't be heavy enough for you...they're more miyavi-ish than DeG...ish. But they do a lot of mighty strange dancing.

1:20 pm

FE 7/8 ? anyone know?

1:21 pm

Anj, how you doing babe?

1:21 pm

fe7/8 - any group of mineral forming rocks. 60% of earth's crust is made from this.

1:22 pm

Only just back dear so just ticking over for now. Brain will be back in gear shortly :) (although my fingers will be trying to type something else as usual :/ ) How about you??

1:23 pm

Just finished ;)

1:25 pm

Finished?! *brain dissolves and trickles out of ears*

1:26 pm

I'll be finished in 265 words time...

1:26 pm

...you lurked :'( *sound of broken spirit* *sobs uncontrollably*

1:27 pm

*pats* there, there, Anj

1:27 pm

No I didn't! Had dinner, came back, found last 12 words. I always knew my spag bol was special.... lol!

1:28 pm

chrisP - thanks for your help today!

1:30 pm

*sniffs* thank you Miyavi :')

1:30 pm

Is it 347 words today? Wahey, only *counts on fingers* 218 left to go!

1:31 pm

Lola, I had spag bol as well lol. Maybe I should have left the washing up...

1:32 pm

anj. can you tell me how many p7 words there are please, have two missing not sure which 7s they are.

1:33 pm

Noooo! Did you really? I made the non-babblers wash up!

1:34 pm

one obstacle down. finally got all the 8s. only 203 words left to find

1:34 pm

Oggy, 5 x p7 I think Lola, I don't have that luxury lol

1:35 pm

pa7/36 x 3, pl736 and po7/36

1:36 pm

Mmmmm, still can't figure out why....

1:37 pm

AF6 ?

1:37 pm

Fordo, bobbing along on the beautiful briny sea :)

1:39 pm

thanks Anj! *sighs* this is how low I am...stealing clues intended for other people!

1:39 pm

Lola, figure out...??

1:40 pm

Don't worry Miyavi, i'm nearly done so I can be a clue fairy with Lola then.

1:40 pm

The "wife, kids, cat, dog" bit.

1:42 pm

Heh...thanks Anj! ah...you guys are too good to me!

1:42 pm

arrrrrrgh. i am stuck at 333 words. have....to.....get.....away... ..

1:42 pm

Miyavi- you seem to have mastered the two letters number slash number code, so do you want me to post one of the shorter letter lists and help you find them?

1:43 pm

Thanks Lola, that would be great! *overcome with gratitude* I am determined to beat this one!

1:43 pm

PS Don't panic everyone, promise to do all editing in notepad first!

1:44 pm

Okay, which letterdo you want to start with?

1:45 pm

uh...could we try I? I only have one i word! *hangs head in shame* Thanks Lola...lifesaver!

1:45 pm

Oh right. Opportunity I guess. Never in the right place at the right time :/ I'm a bit of a conundrum as well lol. A mixture of affection, support & independence. Mayve they forgot to make me an oppo :(

1:48 pm

Miyavi- not sure if you meant L or i? There are only two i words, il4/4 and is4/4, which do you need?

1:49 pm

Cheer up chicken, I'm sure she is out there :)

1:49 pm

il4/4...it continues to evade me, the minx of a word!

1:49 pm

can i have a clue for the se8/55 - i know it relates to a sailor, but i'm just not getting it

1:50 pm

With my degree in psychology, I thought the ps words would be a breeze... alas, I was wrong... help?!

1:50 pm

Kristin, you're right and you couldn't say fairer than that ;)

1:51 pm

Kristin...another name for the ocean, another spelling of fair, then an ER wacked on the end

1:51 pm

thanks anj - i thought i tried that word before but I guess not!

1:52 pm

I grounded myself... not allowed to chat until only 100 left...

1:52 pm

y/w Kristin Miyavi - that's the spirit! :) Lola, I live in hope...well ok, Bristol, but I can dream :)

1:52 pm

Okay, the il4/4 has to do with the small intestine, which is disgusting so we'll go with another type of clue! You do drama right? Have you heard of Homer's il***? Sounds like that without the last letter.

1:53 pm

Jera, how many Ps are you missing??

1:53 pm

Jera- LOL! I try that but myself never listens to me!

1:53 pm

Thanks Lola! Got it at last! Anj...dead subtle, that's my clues! :)

1:53 pm

Well, quite a few, but I'm really after the 2 PS's...

1:54 pm

Good stuff! Want to do another list?

1:54 pm

Oh those d*mn thimgs. All the other letters are vowels :)

1:54 pm

EL 7? argh.

1:55 pm

Sometimes, you just have to use tought love, Lola... but we won't go there...

1:56 pm

Don't be afraid of el7, fordo... just keep going after you spell el5...

1:56 pm

thanks...wait. How many W's are there? If it's four then that's one obstacle down.

1:56 pm

yes, 4 W's are plenty...

1:56 pm

Fordo, el5/10 - make proud or joyful el6/18 - add an R to the end el7/28 - do the plural thing

1:57 pm

Yay! *boogies*

1:57 pm

But they're not the PS words from the other day...

1:57 pm

fordo- think how you'll feel when you find it and change the last letter from a d to an r :)

1:58 pm

ugh the damn pluals get me every time! thanks!

1:59 pm

Jera - Yes they are.

2:00 pm

Hello torgone :)

2:01 pm

Hola lola!

2:01 pm

LOL!

2:03 pm

Hi.... anyone have a clue for a g-word? I have the g4/7 (swindle)... what a grid today! i'll have to settle for attaining 1/2 the words...

g 4 8

2:04 pm

cat2- gh4/8. Sounds like a word for a gun.

2:05 pm

ok back to beg for clues again, almost done with 7 and 8s. Need last 2 sp7/36 and the re7/36 - anj you still out there?

2:05 pm

g4/8 almost like a flying pest but different 2nd letter

2:06 pm

Yay, found them... I put in the third one first, was rejected & gave up too soon...

2:06 pm

tyvm torgone!!

2:06 pm

Got it! thx BrotherCaine and Lola! Think I had tried every combo but those that started with gh! aaargh! LOL

2:07 pm

thx Minski :)

2:07 pm

kristin- re7/36: put on the market again (plural)

2:08 pm

I am down to my last 4 t's. Can anyone help with ta6/18 and te6/18???

2:08 pm

Now for those pesky last 2 w's. I have the leaky eye ones...

2:08 pm

thanks lola! *guilty* I'm stealing other people's clues again...

2:09 pm

Cat...the last two W's are heavy words

2:09 pm

Yo! Kristin it builds on your sp4/6 (corner shop) sp5/14 - as in tyre or change sp6/24 - add an R to the end sp6/24 - chnage that R for an S sp5/14 - take out the E sp6/24 - put the E back on the end sp7/36 - add an R to the end

2:09 pm

ta6 is plural of ta5

2:09 pm

ditto te6

2:10 pm

Hi, swimmy... I have a te6/18 that is a plural of a te5/10

2:10 pm

be right back. baby mauling the cat again.

2:10 pm

Thanks Anj--great list. I had some but wasn't getting the changes. you're a rock star.

2:11 pm

IS the puzzle really closing in less than a minute?

2:11 pm

Oh no! Does that mean undies will be thrown again!

2:11 pm

have sp5 x 9--are there really 10? (whine whine)

2:11 pm

Nevermind - dunno why it said that

2:12 pm

Thanks Anj! (doing my little clue-nabbing bit again) have now reached the 150 word mark, am so sickeningly smug it's unbearable...

2:12 pm

ScoutsMom - flattery will get you everywhere lol :)

2:13 pm

Oh Anj I feel so bad you went to all that work, that sp I got, but aren't there 3?

2:13 pm

Anj! Quick! Une needs coffee and chocolate!

2:13 pm

You're welcome, Cat...I got such a big kick out of being able to help someone for a change, rather than being helped!

2:14 pm

plural of to4

2:14 pm

preferably with some yummy liqueur inside!

2:15 pm

Evening Lola, any clues on the E`s please.....

2:18 pm

2:18 pm

Thanks for the help. I will have to double check my t list as I don't have a to4 that can be pluralised...

2:19 pm

Thanks Lola,thats good for now,cheers

2:20 pm

narrowing it down . . . it's the sp5/20 black sheep that I don't have . . .

2:21 pm

swimmy... there is a to4/4 that i thought couldn't be made plural, but i was wrong... just try adding the s anyway.

2:21 pm

*This is a recorded message. Anj is currently thrashing around on the floor helpless with laughter after playing Bean Me. Abnormal service will be resumed shortly. Thank you for your patience*

2:22 pm

sfneil- yes, an ha5/16 and an ha6/27. It's a word we've had before and is the hawaiian word for white peson and it's plural :)

2:23 pm

lola, thanks so much!! should have seen that...

2:23 pm

une- Thank goodness for that! It's the plural of your sp4/9.

2:24 pm

sfneil- you are welcome. Searched for them for ages myself this morning :)

2:25 pm

I double checked and it is a to5/10 that i need. I am going to try a2z...

2:27 pm

2:42 pm

Hehehe...haven't even attempted the scary trig yet, Lotti...but have, however, concocted a plan. Will ask Anj if he will eat my non-existent homework for me.

2:43 pm

LOL

2:43 pm

Yay, got it! No wonder I couldn't connect... I was thinking ro4 for the middle, not pa4... tyvm, Anj!

2:57 pm

I'm a bit of a bewilderbeast tonite - too many words! Can't seem to find the as5, any clues please?

2:58 pm

2:59 pm

Need help, please someone, with the fe7 & fe8... TIA!

2:59 pm

Unei, do you have fl6/27 that is plural of a spanish fleet fl5/16?

2:59 pm

'nite Miyavi :) Remember, the son of the squaw of the hippopotamus is equal to the son of the squaws on the two remaining hides *That old maths joke was recent;y found wrapped in the original version of Fermet's Last Theorem. I thank you :)*

3:01 pm

yep got the spanish fleet sing and plur

3:01 pm

chessy as5 apparently means horned vipers, but it is spelled like the clear jelly you use in vegetable/meat molds except for the last letter

3:02 pm

Jera, it features your first sp4/6 (as in wooden beam) fe plus 'a letter than comes before Paso' plus your sp4/6 The fe7 is the plural :)

3:02 pm

Jera, fe7 and 8: any of a group of hard crystalline minerals that consist of aluminum silicates of potassium or sodium or calcium or barium -- makes up about 60 per cent of the Earth's crust

3:02 pm

any hints on the ph6?

3:03 pm

Unei how about fl6/27 that is a "little flower"?

3:03 pm

Unie, passage of speech as in 'turn of p.....' :)

3:04 pm

yep, got 3 flowery words . . .

3:04 pm

ph6 is a group of words in writing or speaking, stick a letter into ph5/20

3:05 pm

3:13 pm

E7/36: tough, wiry grass F7/48: abundant rockforming mineral F7/40: he won't sink P7/36: he better behave P7/36: conditional releases from prison P7/36: they keep the vicinity safe by doing them P7/36: inferior racehorses, but they sound more like they do something with serving food P7/36: they give access to spaces or information R7/48: puts on the market again R7/48: put it back in form or in another form S7/28: they put things on roofs S7/36: more widely spaced S7/36: (scot.) frolics, disturbances S7/36: someone engaging in bodily activities Tea's-a-brewin' :)

Jera Take your F5/16 that leads to 7/40 and 8/55 and move the second vowel to the end, then pluralise as well. The other 6 is a cauliflower flower.

4:43 pm

Jera, it's a fractal pattern. Looks freaky :) y/w Hugabugs :)

4:44 pm

4:51 pm

4:55 pm

Jera Think of the flowers you have and change the last two letters, its very much used in England, maybe not in the states

4:58 pm

Anj - Great big hugs (from Hugs)... you've made this so much easier for me. Down to 13 p's and then I'm done.

4:58 pm

6:14 pm

where do you get all the words from.

6:14 pm

still got 38 to go

6:19 pm

I've *finally* broken the 300 mark. Heavy s4/8!

6:19 pm

Clues in the log and: www.a2zwordfinder.com I t certainly helps with those lobotomy moments :)

6:21 pm

Home stretch Doogle :) Q: is Olympus the follow up to Ilium by any chance??

6:25 pm

Hey, Anj! Yes, it is. And it's very good. Actually broke down and bought in hardcover, which I rarely do, but wanted to read it while Ilium was still fresh in my mind. BTW, his three Joe Kurtz books are extremely good too, though in a very different vein. Darwin's Blade, however, is, IMHO, dreadful. You a fan?

6:26 pm

I've gone cross-eyed today! Can anyone see the H4 and H5 I'm missing???? Thanks.... ha 4 7 ha 4 7 ha 5 16 ha 4 10 ha 4 7 ha 4 9 ha 4 7 ha 5 16 ha 4 7 ha 4 9 ha 5 20 ha 4 7 ha 5 16 ha 6 27 ha 5 16

6:28 pm

No, no. I'm missing an H5 and H6. arrrrgggghhhhh

6:29 pm

Yes, I was hooked by Hyperion and the 3 books that followed but Ilium is the only other book i've found since then. I thought it was great take on the classic tho'. For me only Peter F Hamilton and Alistair Reynolds write sc-fi on that same sort of level.

6:29 pm

CSA - Ha5/16 and its plural, Ha6/27. Hawaiian slang for "white person." Sounds kinda like Paoli (PA city).

6:30 pm

AH! more Dan Simmons fans!!!

6:31 pm

Doogle! Thanks, thanks. NOW, I remember that from one of the first grids I ever did. Done for toda. <crack knuckles, lean back and trip over feet>

6:31 pm

I don't know Hamilton & Reynolds, but will check them out. Where should I start? I also recommend Sherri S. Tepper very highly for great plots, finely wrought worlds, and interesting philosophy.

6:31 pm

I ADORED hyperion... could NOT wait for each new book and was so sad when it ended cause there was no more story. I'm hording the new ones ...

6:32 pm

csa youre missing an ha 5 and 6 an anagram of halo plus a letter then plural

6:32 pm

Simmons' earlier horror books are also very good. And a bit harrowing! Song of Kali, Children of the Night, perhaps another one.

6:33 pm

Thanks, Ferrari. Great hints all around!

6:36 pm

Hi Darleen :) Doogle, in at the deep end: Hamilton The Reality Dysfunction,The Neutronium Alchemist and The Naked God in that order. They are sci-fi but with a deliciously macabre twist. It's the best universe since Hyperion :)

6:37 pm

Thanks Anj for the book titles. I'll be looking them up ...

6:43 pm

You're welcome Darleen. I hope you like them :) Alistair Reynolds has created the same sort of universe, the difference being the way the human race has evolved & mutated. He started with Chasm City, then Revelation Space, Redemption Ark and now Absolution Gap. All real slow burners. May read a little like Iain M Banks in style, although more Simmons in spirit :)

6:44 pm

just got the ro4/7,ro5/16 to get just can't see them can anyone help?

6:46 pm

Ro4/7 and 5/16 - proper name, sounds Germanic.

6:46 pm

I've never tried Sheri S Tepper although i've read some Anne McCaffrey. Going back to Hamilton, his latest, Pandora's Star was a cracker as well. It's follow up, Judas Unchained is due out soon I think

6:47 pm

wouldn't think they were possible if jakes mum hadn't posted them earlier

6:47 pm

Ro4/7 - "Norse chieftain who became the first duke of Normandy (860-931)". 5/16 is the plural.

6:47 pm

think Harris, tie me kangaroo down sport.....

6:53 pm

love anne macaffrey, that blooming r. harris gets everywhere .thanks all can go to bed happy perchance to dream of whippletrees(what a lovely word), and woolgatherers wearing weatherglasses, what show stoppers they would be, all these words could have been possible today!

6:55 pm

Hi - been gone for a week on vacation. Has Brandyjack abandoned us with his lists???

6:55 pm

also professoriates lol

6:56 pm

welcome back tedybeth, lists were posted at 6.46 am, hope you're feeling strong :)

6:56 pm

brandyjack posted lists at 6.46am

6:57 pm

thanks everyone -- vacation was wonderful!!!!!

6:58 pm

have you finished anj can't help noticing your name next to mine both in yesterdays stats and in the rankings?

6:59 pm

Ferrari, there's just the small issue of Enable getting in the way there lol :)

7:00 pm

Welcome back. What is this "vacation" of which you speak?

7:00 pm

i have 111 words 1380 points am i anywhere near ?

7:01 pm

Only 236 to go, mishmu!

7:01 pm

is the a2z based on the Enable cos all of today's words weren't in th a2z especially r harris lol

7:02 pm

114 1418

7:02 pm

oh you are joking lol - am off to bed - too many for me tonight :-S

7:03 pm

347/4729 a long way to go

7:03 pm

torgone: vacation was a week at the beach - we rent a condo each sept. on the Gulf side of FL [we live in Orlando] - and just go to sit, read, sleep -- so running around - alas, no Babble either.

7:03 pm

Ferrari, yup, all 347 in their cages. I don't understand the ranking system at all tho :/ I've been top 5 before but I don't really know how lol

7:06 pm

michelle nearly always heads the list daily, and it always seems to go trotters, ferrari ,anj. do you think dr god could explain?

7:09 pm

Ferrari, it may be just in the order we all signed up to play but that sounds too simple for a computer programme lol

7:09 pm

I must try that "getting away for a week" thing sometime soon, even though I do go to the beach every weekend.

7:12 pm

yes, forgone --- to me getting away can be done at the beach - or in the mountains -- or almost anywhere where you are not looking at all the things you should be doing around the house!!! lol

7:12 pm

Evening, or rather morning again, all. I've just finished. Would like to thank Anj for the 's' list which helped me enormously in sorting out my mystery words. Also like to thank Scottish on-line dot com! I can't believe that my last word in was sh5/20, especially as I'd already got re7/48.

7:14 pm

...no flowers please Jac :)

7:15 pm

anj the last time trotters wasn't there was a week last sunday. I 've been babbling since the 10th of august how about you?

7:16 pm

hi jacula, and goodnight what a marathon today, good though lol

7:16 pm

I guess you'd prefer beer eh, Anj?:-)

7:18 pm

Yes, Ferrari, but I prefer a puzzle I can get my teeth into. I feel disappointed if I'm finished by lunchtime. Not that I'm addicted or anything.... you understand... you do? Don't you? I'm not an addict.... truly....

7:18 pm

Anj - Please pardon my slightly delayed thanks for those book titles (I was plowing through the evil esses). Will definitely check 'em out. :)

7:19 pm

Ferrari, Sunday 7th August for me, although I didn't actually complete a puzzle for a few days. Only missed a couple of days since then I think :/

7:19 pm

takes one to know one I used to do sudokos but find them boring compared lol

7:20 pm

Jac, stop dribbling and at least SHARE the chocolate :D lmao

7:20 pm

I think I started on the 8th or 9th August. (Babbling, that is.)

7:21 pm

I've only missed 27th august, my daughter,s wedding though I did take the grid and everthing to play at if I got chance. guess I must be addicted too

7:21 pm

I've been babbling for years! lol

7:22 pm

Incidentally, have those of you in UK who were led here by The Mail on Sunday's Rob Waugh e-mailed him about your new addiction? LOL.

7:23 pm

who is rob waugh?

7:23 pm

Ferrari - it's the bloke who writes the 'Wired' page in The Mail on Sunday Night & Day mag. It was he who advertised Babble.

7:24 pm

Ferrari - I've been babbling for years too. At least the man in my picture would say so. LOL.

7:25 pm

he's got a lot to answer for , there is life after countdown did anyone out there watch it. richard in his leotard aah

7:29 pm

Not even half way through, still 187 to go, but I'll have to leave it there. Lets hope we have a shorter list tomorrow. At least I've ticked the 7's and 8's boxes.

7:30 pm

Richard Whiteley in a leotard?? Don't think I ever saw that!

7:31 pm

I miss Countdown, and Richard Whiteley, I watched it every day it was on. I've read they are going to bring it back with another presenter but it won't be the same

7:32 pm

ok, i feel really stupid asking, but I think I may be blinded by words at this point in the day - can i have a clue for the te5, assume the 6 is the plural version

7:33 pm

another word for earth kristin, te... firma, and yes it plurals

7:34 pm

exwren I've heard it could be Noel Edmonds maybe Dez Lynam it wont be the same but I do miss the maths and we'll get used to it won't seem the same without Carol though if she doesnt do it lol

7:35 pm

Maths? Aargh, hate maths! I have number blindness, I think. Can't remember the proper term for it now but it's like dyslexia only for numbers.

7:35 pm

must go to bed night night everybody lol x

7:36 pm

Night Ferrari. Sleep well. See you later for another Babbling day.

7:36 pm

night ferrari ..

7:37 pm

Good night, ferrari. Sweet dreams.

7:37 pm

jacula that could be a useful thing to have, could get you out of all sorts of boring things like finances and things lol

7:38 pm

thanks chessy - got them and ONLY 80 words to go ...

7:40 pm

I'll be around for a little while longer if anyone wants any clues.

7:40 pm

you go girl. I'm down to my last 16, just wrestling those pesky s words to the ground ..:)

7:43 pm

hey all

7:44 pm

Jacula, could I get a clue for AF6?

7:47 pm

mtn the af - f is a word of something you lay on in a pool

7:48 pm

thank you kristen

7:48 pm

you'll get 3 f's off that word ;)

7:49 pm

Is this thing on? *taps mike* Sorry, just had a ISP-induced break in transmission :/ Doogle, no worries, it's one of those heads down puzzles lol

7:49 pm

Sorry mtnjock - I was off in another forum on my music thread. Have you got that af now? If not. I was going to say that one of the Mary Norton 'Borrowers' books was entitled 'The Borrowers Af****'.

7:49 pm

LOL... they were the first ones I got this morning, I hate vowels, so I try and tackle those first. Waiting on a tech support guy to call me back, so thought I would pick up where I left at lunch

7:50 pm

S7/36, scotish to frolic???

7:50 pm

Hey Jac which music forum are you on??

7:51 pm

Ah yes, the sp6 & 7. I had to google a Scottish dictionary to get those. I impLORE you to try it.

7:52 pm

Anj., it isn't purely a music forum. I'm on two forums, both kind of linked. They're FR ones, if you know what that means.

7:52 pm

LOL... thanks Jac

7:54 pm

Ah, just wondered that's all. Music always seems to be bubbling away under the surface on here lol

7:54 pm

And poetry, Anj. Don't forget the poetry!

7:55 pm

Clues on the sp5/20?? Please?

7:56 pm

mtnjock - Since you didn't get the Scottish words, I take it the 'Jock' in your user name doesn't mean you are from sporran-wearing origins?

7:56 pm

Help, my last 3 are PL's . I think if I get the last 6/24 it will help me with the other 2 I need (a 4/6 and 5/14). the 2 6/24's I have relate to something you eat on. Can I please get help with the other one?

7:57 pm

I'm missing one FL6. I have ~the flame ~the goddess of flowers ~a fleet of Spanish ships What am I missing? Please help.

7:57 pm

Neil - plural of sp4/9

7:57 pm

sfneil, it's the old technicolo(u)r yawn, plural of sp4/9

7:57 pm

sfneil, it's the plural of your sp4/9, production of a pavement pizza, par excellence ;)

7:57 pm

birds do this fl to fly

7:58 pm

start with the 's' on the top line to find it.

7:58 pm

Your fl 6 is the same as your flower one but with a differnt last letter

7:58 pm

duh!! thanks so much! 2 more s's to find and i'll finally be done (unannounced FOUR AND A HALF hour meeting today did NOT help my babbling!)

7:59 pm

Neil - I know. It is SO inconsiderate when employers expect you to work instead of Babble. LOL.

8:00 pm

Thanks Anj! There's still hope!!

8:00 pm

I may have to quit!

8:00 pm

Quit work or Babbling? :-)

8:01 pm

Hi Pav3, how is it going? :)

8:01 pm

no, polish ones... LOL and French

8:01 pm

Has anyone asked for a clue and not got one yet? I'm losing track here.

8:02 pm

Jacula, I'm losing the will to live ...:)

8:03 pm

Jacula- I've been missing a clue my whole life. Lol

8:03 pm

Aw, don't do that Chessy. It's not that bad a grid.

8:03 pm

chessy i'm right there with you, i don't even have it in me to look at the word count sheet anymore! I'm just sponging off other people's requests.

8:03 pm

Jac, me! Not Babble tho... I'm going to the Barfly on Digbeth High Street tomorrow nite. Where's the best place to park? I want to try and avoid the New Street crush if I can lol

8:03 pm

Nevermind. found those darn pl's. I'm done! Can I help anyone before I go?

8:03 pm

And the music on the jukebox now is Mott the Hoople's 'All The Way To Memphis' for mtnjock. Any more requests anyone?

8:03 pm

any hints on as5 (hate those vowels)

8:04 pm

Finally done!!! Woohoo! Okay folks, I'm heading home now, but I'll check in when I get there to see if I can be of any use to anyone.

8:04 pm

Crash team to Kristin & Chessy please :)

8:05 pm

Anj - I've no idea. I never go into Brum if I can help it.

8:05 pm

as5 - think of the clear jelly like substance used in meat and vegetable terrines - just change the last letter

8:06 pm

Jac, sensible girl lol. I used to drive to Selly Oak or Edgbaston regularly but always tried to skip the centre :/

8:06 pm

I'm here for 'em, Anj. Defibrilattors at the ready. (No idea if I spelled that correctly.)

8:06 pm

Jock stands for the addiction to softball, football, mtn biking ... LOL

8:07 pm

defibrillators.*

8:07 pm

hit me baby i'm fading fast and only 261 words - of course the most words I've ever gotten (on the bright side)

8:08 pm

...don't you swear at me lol

8:08 pm

Anj - shocking Kristin now. STAND BACK.

8:09 pm

OUCH!!!!

8:09 pm

Kristen that as clue was lost on me... :(

8:09 pm

Come on Chessy :) What are you stuck on??

8:10 pm

Well, that woke Kristin up again. LOL.

8:10 pm

i was afraid you would say that mtn - the definition is horned vipers - does that help??

8:11 pm

mtnjock, Abandoned Site Programme Information System :)

8:12 pm

mtnjock - Cleopatra was reputedly killed by an as* bite on the breast. The word you are looking for begins with those 3 letters and is an anagram of more than one of the Italian leaning tower.

8:12 pm

what anj didn't like my clues? LOL ok back to babbling and the "to" words

8:13 pm

kristin i'm working on the clue spam theory. try all angles and something usually sticks lol

8:14 pm

ANJ that just goes to show you that I am a geek as well, I always get stuck choose the wrong letter to start with

8:14 pm

Meant to say earlier that Plato, Piaf, Pilates and Salop are in today's grid. Not allowed though, of course. Hope Jera finished the grid today, since that was the first name I noticed in the grid after the first word I spotted, which was pi4/7 (swine). The two NOT connected.

8:14 pm

thanks for all the clues guys...

8:17 pm

Found 'hagbush' and 'hagbut' on a-z today whilst searching for words. I really must look up their true meanings...

8:18 pm

ok i'm looking for a to5 that I assume plurals for the to6, any clues? I've got 2 to5/10 and one to5/14.

8:18 pm

OK Kriston, novocaine for the brain coming up :) to4/4 - think original film about Pearl Harbour to5/16 - add a H (1st part of the Hebrew bible) to6/27 - add an S for the good old plural to5/10 - take out the H (to get to4/4 plural)

8:20 pm

sorry, head down while I'm sorting out my s words, I need to know their values before I can ask for clues ..otherwise I'd have to describe the 27 se words I have already... if that makes sense ... babble... babble, nurse the screens .......

8:21 pm

and why wont this game take 'alot'

8:21 pm

Jac, this calls for the hard stuff. Put out the Bean signal: www.coffeequick.com

8:23 pm

mtn, small matter of a missing L i think... mind you, Enable allows some freaky sh4/7 now and then lol

8:23 pm

Coffee machine's on, Anj. Think espresso may be the best choice.

8:24 pm

marry me anj?

8:25 pm

stupid al words... (grumble) done with the A's!

8:25 pm

*blushes* Kristin :) words fail me lol

8:25 pm

If anyone's interested (well, you never know it may come up in a grid one day) 'hagbush' is some kind of old weapon (LOL) but I don't know what 'cos all I saw was a suit of armour (and it's not in any of my paper dictionaries).

8:27 pm

Jacq notes Kristin's proposal and Anj's blushes and wishes she could turn the page pink and put little floating hearts all over it. ROFLOL.

8:27 pm

jac talk about ruining a moment, i just proposed!

8:29 pm

I know NOW Kristin, but it wasn't showing up when I posted the hagbush thing.:-(

8:29 pm

Jac, I bet that's an alternative spelling of Arquebus, which itself should have an H. It's a musket that's fired using a forked stand. I'm afarid Gary Gygax had a hand in that part of my education :/

8:30 pm

...gooseberry :P

8:31 pm

is a hagbush like a brazilian?

8:32 pm

LOL Chessy!!

8:32 pm

Quite the opposite, I would have thought, Kristin.

8:32 pm

Sorry, meant Chessy. Mind you, thinking about it... ROFLOL.

8:32 pm

Chessy chessy chessy... Oh well Kristin, we had a moment at least lol

8:34 pm

Anj - if you two want to get smoochy, smoochy, I reckon here ain't the place to do it. *grins*

8:34 pm

well i hope it was a memorable proposal LOL!

8:35 pm

a little jealous there jac???

8:36 pm

Lol Kristin, we must do it again

8:37 pm

Oops! No mieow meant by the new icon! It's my Bacardi Breezer cat, Tiggsy. Kristin, no, not at all. I promise you.

8:38 pm

Does anyone in here still have 88 words or more to find?..i can usually only work on this in the AM..and maybe for an hour at night. ACK

8:39 pm

It was simply a joke about it being a public place where interruptions may happen. Though I didn't think it was serious anyway.

8:39 pm

More Tos I think: to4/4 - eldest son of Issachar to5/10 - twins! to4/4 - take off the as and add an e (painted metelwork) to5/10 - do the S thing

8:39 pm

Gawd!! Who would want to be married!!!!????

8:40 pm

Hi Kate. I've got all the words. Just hanging around to chat now and give clues. How can I help you?

8:40 pm

i think i'm done for the night at 269 words 3611 points -I'm brain dead at this point. thanks to all for helping me get this far.

8:40 pm

please help me with the ps's please!!!

8:41 pm

y/w Kristin. Didn't expect to go down the aisle lol Catch you later

8:41 pm

Which p's would you like to know about Robert?

8:41 pm

Jac, E7 tough grass , i dunno. I get so tired i cant think! (not in A-1 health here)

8:42 pm

Sleep well Kristin. See you again.

8:42 pm

Night Kristin ..

8:42 pm

the ps5/14. there are 2 I think

8:43 pm

Kate - put your 'es' in front of your pa4/6 and add a vowel at the end.

8:44 pm

Kate - the pa4/6 that means 'a bit of'.

8:44 pm

Liana, that e7 is: es plus role that an actor plays (or bit of car or body- p4) plus o

8:45 pm

Chessy, how are the vital signs??

8:46 pm

Robert - ps plus 4th vowel plus 2nd vowel. ps plus 4th vowel plus 3rd vowel.

8:48 pm

...er, calling 1st vowel, you're in there somewhere Mr Vowel :)

8:49 pm

7 words to go, 5 s and 2 f words Anj. Think my s words are: sa4/4, not secure/purchase/ stockfish/plantfluid/satisfy sa 6/24 sp5/20 not upchuck sp7/36 not tartan frolix sp6/24 not fungi/sudden flood/extras/spread out. sorry if this is muddly :)

8:49 pm

apparently i am being obtuse..however, i dont have that P word , i got the es and add an o..thats all my feeble mind can pick up on..bwaaaaahahahahaha (they are coming to take me away..AHA) am singing in a crazed monotone.

8:50 pm

thanks jacula

8:51 pm

okay, i got the part an actor plays..(bit wasnt in there..lol)

8:53 pm

Just noticed 'pigsharer' is in the grid. Now surely that MUST be a word? Didn't folk share a pig (for the killing of) in the war?

8:54 pm

ha5/20? help (I don't have the singular)

8:55 pm

jock..add an H to the snake that bit ole cleo...

8:55 pm

sa4/4 - old word for salt (same start & end letter) ;) sa6/24 - marmalade plum (starts with tee fluid, ends with what sounds like edible grain) sp5/20 - only one and that's the upchuck :/ sp7/36 - your last sp5/14 plus ER sp6/24 - could be the one that sounds like the S.... Girls or your fungas with a flowery ending...

8:55 pm

ha4/9 - a metal fastener. your ha5 is a plural of that. Think of a treasure chest and the metal lock that slips over it.

8:55 pm

an H to the A word ..snake. cleo..stuff like that there.

8:58 pm

i have still not figured out the tough grass!! its too much for me..lol

8:59 pm

Anj, Kate - let's clasp him to us and hope he gets our clues.

9:00 pm

Kate - Easy Peas Are Really Too Ordinary.;-)

9:01 pm

No. In fact make that Easy Simple Peas Are Really Too Ordinary

9:01 pm

liankate take some esp add what fancy pics are and O you have it..

9:01 pm

LOL, tee fluid. Now what the hell is that?..golf ball juice?..

9:02 pm

Chessy, i think you could be down an Sp6, not the Sp5 The list is: 1) left over, only more so 2) left overs or as in tyres 3) not thick or dense 4) floods 5) sounds like the final frontier and breaks the I before E rule... 6) scottish frolic (fungal sp5/14 with added L) 7) fungAL ;) 8) fungii

9:02 pm

Kate - must admit I was wondering what tee fluid is, too.

9:03 pm

BLAZE!!!! LOL, i need a simple clue like that..I GOT IT..yay!! and ty veddy much!

9:04 pm

lian your on..... keep up the good work how are you today ??

9:04 pm

Oh dear! I thought I'd spelt it out.:-(

9:05 pm

blaze..too soon to tell how I am. Am just so tired all the time..but I got better than half the words..only 86 to go. And, thanks for asking about my feeble brained self..(such a nice lady you are)

9:05 pm

Sp6/24 doesn't break the rule. I before E except after C unless it's an 'A'

9:07 pm

Yay! I got 50 words! (And I'm a newbie, and I suck.)

9:07 pm

Hi Brandyjack - is that as in the sound?

9:07 pm

nite all

9:08 pm

Jack - that 'sp' is a bit like undercover people with the 2nd vowel added at the end, and the 'i before e' rule reversed.

9:08 pm

'nite mtn :) Chessy, are you still with us??

9:08 pm

Night Jock. Sleep well.

9:09 pm

Still here Anj, machine decided to seize up, had a quick restart and will now check your list. many thanks indeed.

9:10 pm

Greetings ktf. Only 297 words to go then! Keep plugging away. Look back through the log for clues, etc.

9:10 pm

This is a wacko grid. I have 224 words and still have 123 words left to find. It's a little intimidating. I need a hug.

9:10 pm

blaze, Jac, Anj..night you lil blessings in disguise!! Methinks I am gonna call it quits..I got a couple more words anyway..Be well, and most of all..BE HAPPY..(dunt worry)

9:11 pm

No worries - there are two different posts as i've listed all the sp6/24s seperately just in case

9:11 pm

Ack, 297? Well, I suppose I've got most of the easy ones... I do have a eight letter 55. *proud*

9:11 pm

lianakate you have a great sleep and have a great day later..... see ya tommorrow

9:12 pm

'nite Liana :) Minski (((( ^_ ^ ))))

9:12 pm

9:13 pm

minski...sending you a hug....

9:14 pm

Hi Baggo :) I'm about to quit :/ sleep is holding my brain hostage and the FBI are due to come along and take out my grid lol

9:14 pm

Anj - Yes. As in neighbor.

9:15 pm

anj, i just have to say, you always make me smile...

9:15 pm

My candle burns at both ends It will not last the night But ah my foes and oh my friends It gives a lovely light

9:16 pm

Blah, I give up for now. Bye folks!

9:16 pm

Jac, Anj's description for the sp5/24 was correct except for the part about breaking the rule. Although without that part I would never have gotten the word.....

9:16 pm

G'nite Anj, thank you for all your help again, catch you soon...:)

9:18 pm

i have to say, i'm gonna miss you guys in a week. i just found out a litle bit ago, i'm heading down south to help out with the displaced folks from katrina...

9:18 pm

Cheers Brandyjack. Crazy, i've never thought of ot that way before but it's so obvious.

9:19 pm

Good luck with that baggo, sounds as tho the latest hurricane is causing havoc right now ...

9:19 pm

Just one of those crazy things that stuck to me in english class. They gave me a 51 so they wouldn't have to look at my ugly puss fro another year....

9:19 pm

sould some one pass on a clue for ea 4 thanks

9:20 pm

Jack - I have all the words (as from about 3 hours' ago). Your 2nd letter list earlier in the day helped a lot after I'd got over 200 words just by sight and had not even looked on the log for clues. (I feel quite proud of that.) I went onto a-z with about 30 words to go, but then found Anj's 's' lists and got more on my own after that.

9:20 pm

'nite Chessy - hope you finished :)

9:20 pm

yeah, cheesy looks as if rita is not helping out either...

9:21 pm

baggo good luck on you adventure....

9:21 pm

Blaze - I can pass on that clue with great ea4.

9:21 pm

I'm just working through the At's from my list. 200 more to go.....

9:21 pm

Good luck to you Baggo.

9:21 pm

blaze thanks, not sure what i'm in for, but i'm up for it..not much money to give but i can give time...

9:22 pm

hi doogle...

9:22 pm

doogle thanks i need that upside down look to help

9:23 pm

The ea - start 3rd down from right, move up to left and directly above again and then down to right.

9:23 pm

baggo who is taking care of your family etc...

9:23 pm

Heya Baggo.

9:24 pm

blaze you know what is so amazing about this entire thing, is that i told some people i was thinking of going, i have a freezer full of meals, childcare lined up...people here, even though we are so far removed, have just been amazing...i'm blessed with the people around me...

9:26 pm

baggo that is truly a blessing for you and your family... you will do great things I am sure... check in lots....

9:27 pm

i will try..but there is still not alot of power where i am heading...i am going to an airforce base and taking care of people that are not well enough to go on to shelters yet..

9:28 pm

baggo I will pray for you often.....

9:30 pm

OK, the feds are snapping at my consciousness cables so i'm doing a runner for the sleep state line. There's a breakdown of the As, Es, Ls, Hs (except our ha5 & ha6 Hawaiian buddies) Ps, Rs & Ss in the log, plus a good post listing all the 7 & 8 letter words with clues from an earlier post. Have fun :)

9:30 pm

blaze, you don't even know what that means to me.. thank you so much.. this i sjust a calling tha ti seem to have. i felt helpless when the storm struck, and now, it's just a simple thing to me that i can do... nite anj...thaks so much...

9:31 pm

Baggo, keep smiling girl :D Take care

9:32 pm

ty anj, so much...i still have a week don't leave til the 2nd, hopefully rita will be overand not have struck and the next one won't come anywhere near....

9:33 pm

Night Anj. Baggo - it's so good to see someone doing something to help. I don't know if we here in the UK got a bad taste via our news of the under the carpet prejudices in the USA, but I'm so glad to see that they are not true for all.xxxx

9:36 pm

jacula, not sure what all the news was elsewhere, but i think the ball was dropped on lots of levels...i think being in healthcare, i tend to see people for people, and i just hate it when things happen that shouldn't. don't know how else to put it really....i do want to say though that i heard a blip on npr, that the mre's that came from other countries are much tastier than ours.. :)

9:39 pm

What are 'mre's'?

9:42 pm

Baggo didn't know you were going who are you going with? How long are you going to be there? You know as always - - Prayers and Thanks!!

9:43 pm

mre's are these meals...and they have a name...that come pre packaged with no refrigeration needed...

9:44 pm

Ready Meals, Baggo? I wish I could send 'em some of my home-grown and cooked stuff. But it wouldn't survive the journey.

9:44 pm

MRE- Meal, Ready to Eat. Rations. Rat-Bars (cause that's what they taste like)....

9:44 pm

hi Fauna, wondered if you were on, i am going with a christian group out of elkhart...they need more nurses if you are interested...i need some time picked up on sunday night too the 2nd...if ya wanna help that way..

9:45 pm

thanks brandyjack, couldn't think of the term..nice new picture..

9:47 pm

They will keep you alive, but you definitely won'tbe happy about it.....

9:50 pm

Baggo are you kidding my DH couldn't go to bed cause I didn't have sheets on bed!! He'd die in a week!!

9:51 pm

9:56 pm

blaze, just close your eyes and start a typing...do you have all the biggies???

9:57 pm

some but not to fussed found ten more words since last post... I am not big on the points thing....

10:00 pm

yeah, i don't really look at the point thing, i just want to be able to find the big words from a challenge standpoint...i'm a big one on the numbers and going from there when i get stumped...

10:02 pm

Baggo have 153, pretty fair for me!! bout to give- got to drive Miss Daisy to Violin in Am. Are you at work??

10:03 pm

10:35 pm

Hi folks! I'm here for a while, and will try to help if I can. I've had a hell of a day, but am available for the next hour or so to try to redeem my babble karma! Available for specific clues (as far as my exhausted brain can come up with them) or lists (ditto).

10:36 pm

10:37 pm

nite, baggo!

10:37 pm

Well, I'm here, but with 200 words to go, not likely much help. Jac is the one with the answers.....

10:39 pm

Jac - wearing a very nice evening dress and looking ab-fab., turns to Jack and says, 'Well, thank you for that.' She smiles and turns to Neil...

10:40 pm

Hi, Jac! (I think I'm qualified to say that by now!)

10:42 pm

'Hi Neil! What do you think we can give to our audience tonight?' She smiles (winningly... and looks sexy etc.)

10:43 pm

'Well (looking around at the house)... why don't we start with our usual routine?'

10:43 pm

Only 1 hour and 8 mins to go folks.

10:44 pm

What can we give to our audience, do you think, Neil? (She miles sexily at the audience.)

10:45 pm

Well, Jac, perhaps they'd be interested in, um... (where did that script boy go?)

10:48 pm

(Mind you, that woman snoring, with her handbag on her lap, is a bit of a put off. And that bloke farting in the 4th row.)

10:49 pm

That stern-looking chap up in the Gods might yield some jokes. 'I do NOT BELIEVE IT', etc.

10:49 pm

Can we just give the curtain at the second act, and retire to the pub? Oh! I mean... wherefor art?

10:51 pm

Sorry, they're messing the cues, now!

10:51 pm

But when Juliet said wherefore thou to Romeo, she meant WHY are you Romeo - the child of the family my family hates.

10:52 pm

If you say the word, Jac, I'm no longer a capitulate!

10:57 pm

Okay, guess I wore that one out. Still around if any babblers need a nudge.

10:57 pm

Lol, Neil, But Romeo was a Montague, not a Capulet.

10:59 pm

But that was Juliet's line! (Then the Nurse ame in... I could use a nurse right about now.)

10:59 pm

er, "then the Nurse came in"

11:03 pm

Sooo tired... but really want to at least finish the 7s -- does anyone have a clue for the sp7s? I already have the not dense one

11:06 pm

first sp7 is comparative of sp6/24... even more 'not-very-well-distributed'

11:07 pm

I've already got that one...

11:08 pm

sorry, should have read that better... hold on

11:09 pm

And your 2nd sp7 is a plural of your sp6. Scottish word for 'frolic'. As I said earlier,I imPLORE you to check out the Scottish dictionary.

11:10 pm

Thanks Jacula!

11:12 pm

sp7/36 builds on sp5/14... one who is interested in sp5/14

11:12 pm

you could say a suppPORTER of the sp5

11:14 pm

Um, or you could take out a 'p' from that clue. I think maybe I should just go to bed, now.

11:14 pm

ok, I've been staring at this for too long -- got all the 7s now... thanks!!!

11:16 pm

Time I went, too. Night all.

11:18 pm

Night night!

Anyone have a second letter P and S list with points?

Doogle - I thought I did send them alll? Posted the esses now, though I cold have done Anj's. Both are correct. It's a matter of how fast can you type now for this grid though.

11:52 pm

Dianne. Leave it. Let's see what the next one brings.

11:54 pm

Jac - I really did so poorly on this one.

11:56 pm

Dianne - it's just a game. It's not an insight into your intellect. Please don't worry about it.xxx

11:57 pm

It's just that it is frustrating - you know what I mean?

11:59 pm

Dianne, I do!

12:00 am

But a new day dawns...
