I'll do that. I tend to print off the second letter value lists and work off those as well. It's easier to do at this time than later in the day when the chat log is constantly changing. Let's face it, when you've got the babble addiction, you find all sorts of ways to get all those words!

I wouldn't call that a waste Neil. I used to know plenty when mass was said in Latin when I was a kid... well, I knew the sounds, no idea what the meanings were.

I did Latin for five years at school, and regard it as being extremely useful for language skills. Regrettably, grammar is no longer taught properly in this country, and I really think that a good dose of Latin would work wonders!
Haz, I couldn't agree more. I really never quite got grammar until I studied the classical languages.
Grammar is like the skeleton of the body. It holds everything together. Incidentally, have you read a book by Lynne Truss ' Eats, shoots and leaves.' It's mostly about punctuation and is a really good read.

Without meaning to be rude or anything, I would like to know why there is so much discussion of j-rock at all in a chat log devoted to Babble? I know there is bound to be a bit of 'side chatter' but sometimes a whole 50 post section is devoted to comepletely non-Babble topics. For those of us who have very limited Babble time, it means sifting through long bits in a search for Babble bits. If you know what I mean. That was one reasons I thought Babbler's Anon might be helpful, a place for general gabbing and non-Babble interests... I DO NOT mean to offend anyone, just wanted to state my opinion.

I'm on the fence on this one. I have times when I like to chat and others when I just Babble. There's no easy solution as this is a 24 hour worlwide game...there's no real quite time. For the record I keep a lot of chat off-site but i'm certainly not bothered or offended by the log. Folk are getting more comfortable with each other is all.

I just hide the log when I want to really play Babble. Then it's just me and a2z.......
Generally I enjoy all the chatter that goes on the log, even if I'm not joining in, because it makes me laugh. I do find the music talk a bit annoying at times though, because it does seem to take up so much of the log.

Swimmy that's also a measure of the site's success tho'. There are more and more folk posting now so the log is going to be nipping along whatever way you look at it. Personally, I copy & paste word lists and clues into notepad when they appear for later reference if needed. Saves me trawling the log...

Hi Everybody! I'm another regular Babbler who just "lurks", although I have joined the chat once or twice. I really enjoy the Babble-related discussions, but do find the log getting bogged down with non-Babble related chatter. Especially distressing since my "Hide Log" button doesn't work, so the whole page gets refreshed every time I enter a word - takes ages!!! (Dr. God, are you there?) Can anyone enlighten me about Babblers Anon? Please keep the clues coming, and I will contribute when I have one to share. At the moment I don't have a clue.....

Hazz, If some other function is temporarily hogging the RAM, FF tends to time out after about 30 secs...no connextion. IE tends to be a little more patient. Could just be my setting mind you... lol

that's right. It's very easy to Bookmark things. Also, with Firefox, the bookmarks stay live, so when you go back to something, it's bang up to date. (so I have learnt something new after all!!) : D

Hazz, it happens because the browser is waiting for a connection to the host web page you are tring to access. Sometimes you get a time out. I've also noticed that some of the java based adverts on the free help sites play havoc with that as well.

I am glad the topic of the log has come up - I think it is GREAT that Babble has expanded so much in the past few months, but wading through all the non-Babble related chat has really detracted from my enjoyment of the game. I hope the community here keeps talking about it until a good solution is found. Meanwhile, I've been absent all week because I've been reading Word Freak, a boo about competition Scrabble, and I highly recommend it. Learning lots of new words, though I still haven't learned why I have a collection of Scrabble tiles that include K with 5 points and K with 8. Have a good weekend!

Oh, my oldest daughter got a job with Shaw as tech support. She's been back from her Fringe trip for just 3 weeks and she's already found something. Now she's working on a play she will be producing/directing and acting in for a play festival here in January.
