Hello everyone!
Good morning! :D
Howdy Do!
Good afternoon all :)
morning, still evening here
Morning all :)
From all the timezones babblers assemble, celebrating the apparition of the new grid...
Just after 6am here
Hello and Happy Thanksgiving.....
Happy Thanksgiving to you too Blaze! :o)
R7/36
i found waldo!
L6/24
Hm, a very masculin B5/14...
that was my first word, shows where my mind is
Lol, you and babble are of one mind?
that's a scary thought
An attractive T6/39.
How T4/4.
L6/27
C6/24
Weird. I just got an error message right above my "post message" button that says "Error. Babble couldn't connect to the chat log to post your message." Anyone else seeing this?
Nope, not here Doog!
I have only seen that message when I accidently clicked the post message and it was blank....
Not since I use Firefox, Doogle. Had that all the time with IE though.
L8/50 - I'm "elated!" <grin>

Way to go Sprite and every one finding the biggies
Couldn't find anything above 6, then that one 7 and all of a sudden there they were! Ofcourse, right now I have to go down and help the kids... sigh... don't want to leave this nice grid. Later, guys!
Funny that the last 2 letters of the, um, hard B5/14, begin the related E5/14.
Geez.. Imust be totally blind tonight... I can't see anything.
W7 is a compound, Hugs. They were famous in Japan.
ROFLMAO, Doogle!
w6/30 - Well, I can't find the ones you're posting, but while looking I found another
Thanks. I was pleased with that my own self. Think I'll pour myself a stiff one.
Good idea, all good things point to heaven ;)
T7/44 another compound
L7/36
My Y's are complete.... te he te he
I don't like the noisy one, LOL.
I think the turkey must have put my mind to sleep.
We had Ham and scallop potatoes..... Turkey will be next month for a daughters birthday...
oh, there was ham there as well.... it was quite a spread.
Biggies in order of list: C9/66 C8/50 L8/50 L7/ 36 R7/36 R7/40 T7/44 W7/44
thank you babble master.... I adore you....
Fooey. I got so excited thinking that redolent was in there. :(
Lol! Did anyone finish the Cs yet? I am one short and I can't think of another possibility. This is what I have: ce 6 24 ce 4 6 ce 4 6 ce 8 50 cr 5 14 cr 4 9 cr 9 66 cu 5 14 cu 6 24 cu 4 8 cu 4 6 cu 5 14 cu 4 6 cu 6 33 cu 5 20 cu 4 6 cu 4 6

Have a great day, sherb :)
thanks Blaze and sprite...sorry I can't stay around...byeeee...
Ooh. That C8/50 is yummy - good spot, Sprite!
Thanks! :) At least 2 colors in this grid. Did you find the related E5, only one vowel different from yours?
Er.... related to yours, NOT to the colors that is :) E5/14 x 2
Yep. Actually found that one first, oddly enough.
Calling it quits for the night w/ 128. Nice having plenty left for tomorrow. :) G'night, all.
Nite Doog! Sleep well.
Have good night Doogle
Pleasant dreams, Doogle :)
No one who can help with the Cs yet? *pretty please*
sprite I am just working on mine and have nothing new
sprite, your brite eyed and ready, i'm nodding on the keyboard, wish i could help
Sprite, I only have 7 of them. I am sorely lacking in the big ones... I can't believe it.
Guess I'll give it a break and come back later, perhaps it jumps right out of the grid then :) When the rest of the grid is done, at least I'll know how many letters... and if all else fails, we can always call a2z to the rescue ;)
Can't have a topday every day, Hugs ;) Gives us a chance to help you out as you do with us all the time, right? Just yell if you are ready for clues.
Thanks for the offer Sprite! I'll keep it in mind.

Dianne - there are 18 C's
Morning Dianne, there are 18 c's
Thanks Dianne, but I think I have those. I listed 17 Cs, still missing one. It must be a C5.

ermm why does it say erode doesn't exist!!!
the e is at the wrong end....
Thanks Iceboy... any clue to go with that? Still can't find it :(
Oh...OK...lol
sprite... no vowels
Debs I have done the same thing over and over again
Me too Blaze me too......lol
sprite.. another clue.. top to bottom
Argh... no vowels, and that is a word??? Scots no doubt... I bet the middle letter is supposed to be a vowel there. Thanks a lot, Iceboy, would never have thought of that. How did you find it?
thanks Ice, would never have got that!
I'd have searched forever for that iceboy! Thanks
www.morewords.com is my friend
and alittle bit of luck
BIG THANKS ICEBOY AND DIANNE AND ALLL.... that one is going to drive everyone off the babble grid.... LOL
Would someone please be kind and post the stats. Pretty please :)
Wonderful, a real unword. Babble knows quite a few of those. We're looking for a total of 197 words / 4.64 / 2358 points today then.
9 x 1 8 x 2 7 x 5 6 x 24 5 x 50 4 x 115 --- 197 words --- A -- 7 B -- 12 C -- 18 D -- 9 E -- 17 H -- 10 L -- 29 N -- 4 O -- 10 R -- 26 T -- 24 U -- 2 W -- 23 Y -- 6

Ice Boy's word rhymes with 'tooth' I've just read, in case one wants to attempt working it into cocktail party conversation. Ywis, as I'm wont to say.
You're welcome, Dianne. I actually wondered if something went wrong with posting, it was like no one could see the stats. ;)
Hi all :) Thanks mab, that's useful to know!! Psoai!
I have L4 x 15, Hugs.

Although it would be nice, I think it is
Not for me IceBoy :)
No worries then IceBoy, I'll keep monkeying :)

Good morning everyone :)
hi lola :)
You're welcome - I'm getting a bit of babble ih before I start the housework in earnest.
Hey sis hows it going? Was it a good day with small person yesterday???
Good morning Lola and Lotti
Haz, my housework went to the dogs weeks ago, when hubby began fitting my new kitchen!!!!
Hi lotti :) First couple of hours were good fun but then she got very ratty so we called it a day. It's was a bit chilly too! How's mom?
I'm deeply impressed that your husband is able to fit a new kitchen! Mine is more at home with the inner workings of a cow!
A lot better, i haven`t spoken to her today, but she may well have been to work this morning!
Glad to hear it, we've missed her these last few days :( Can you send your hubby round here next?!
mine's just made some wood panelling for the bathroom which we were all really impressed with!
Okay zoom, send yours too! lol!
Haz, he`s an electrical technician and engineer by trade, but apart from the gas hob he`s done everything....plumbing, plastering, tiling, replaced all door frames and skirting boards etc etc...he was tiling yesterday :)
This isn't fair. You're just trying to make me feel bad.
Hey Lola, if he came to you, he might not want to leave LOL ;)

morning, could I ask for the 2nd letter for the a4-5 and a6-21
Haz, he wouldn`t know one end of a cow from the other if that makes you feel any better!!!!!!! :o)

Hi jacula :)
Hi Lola. Why do I keep seeing nectar, rentboy, theory, burly, cruel, yodel and wally? They're not there!

Well, I've come in with 117 words on paper so I feel quite pleased. 80 words to find now.

Sorry Lola, went to sort my laundry too. Did you find your b? I have it, but mustn`t have added it on sorry!! Spoke to mum, she hasn`t been to work, but is improving she can`t get on-line for some reason so i`ve given her the grid :)
Anyone got any clues for c8/50 and 9/66 please??????
Hey lotti :) Yeah, found it (another by4/9). Good to hear mom's better. Has she tried doing a disc cleanup? I was battling with my connection a bit yesterday too, hope she gets online again soon! Gotta go fetch small person now, see you all later :)

Karys do you know where it fits? i may be able to give you a clue then
it's the last do4/5 I think lotti
I've been away sorting laundry, too. After I once fell down the stairs with a full laundry basket I've now got into the habit of hurling the clothes down the stairs. This is unfortunate for the cat, if she happens to be sitting at the bottom of the wooden hill as she was today. It is also sometimes embarrassing for me if anyone happens to come to the front door before I've cleared the clothes pile since we have a set of rabbit 'fairy' lights running down one side of the staircase and, more often than not, various items of flimsy female lingerie get caught on the way down and are left hanging nonchalantly from rabbit ears.
is the c5/26 a cr or cu does anyone know.
You`ve got all 9 !
no...I am that one missing lotti
cr oggy
Oggy a welsh word cr no vowels meaning crowd i think
Cheers Jac :) That's an interesting mental picture lol

*blushes*
I should have said 'Diolch yn fawr', Lotti.
Thanks a bunch :)
Thats gone way over my head Jacula, I only know cos i looked into it. I lived in Wales 10 months.......10 minutes was too long!!
It means 'Thank you very much', Lotti.
You are very wecome. Its not often i can help you out Jacula :)
Sometimes I'm puzzled (lol) by Babble. Why the no vowel welsh word I had to look up and not yummy brulee?
First words I saw were Truro and Byron. No go, of course.
Babble evidently isn't a gourmand Jufi :)
Julie thats just babble...it allows one word one day and not the next??????!!!!!!!!!
lol Jac, Truro was the first word I entered...
Jufi?? Judi! Sorry :/

*waves back at toe*
I wonder, If and when Miyavi starts Babbling, she'll start going on about any Stephen King-based horror movies she's been watching (or any other horror movies come to that...) lol...
Back again :) *waves at Toes*
Movieman - She may well have sought out 'Carrie 2' or 'The Evil Dead' films. I mentioned them yesterday when she was watching 'Carrie'.
*waves at Anj* Hiiii! :)
Jacula - have seen all those movies u mentioned, and I think, and this is just my opinion, the 'Evil Dead' films are quite, quite brilliant, (and a lot of the ideas in those films showed up in director Sam Raimi's first two 'Spider-Man' movies), but the "sequel" to Carrie, to paraphrase Eric Cartman from 'South Park', sucked donkey b****...
random fact-- I went to college with the woman who played the lead in carrie 2. she's actually quite a good actress, but i think that movie sunk her career prospects, unfortunately. boy it was bad!
Like I said to Miyavi yesterday, Movieman, the original 'Carrie' is far darker than the more brashly gruesome 'Carrie 2'. BTW, I didn't warn her to brace herself during the graveside scene. LOL. I remember at the cinema when the whole audience leapt a foot off their seats (except for me, who'd read the book). roflol.
Hi Toes :) Movieman, keeping on the Bruce Campbell theme, what did you think of Bubba Ho-Tep??
Does anyone know what W was missing from Fmitch's posting earlier? I can't find that last one. Or the c9, my last c. sigh
Luckily, I'm at an age now where I don't find horror movies even the remotest bit scary anymore (maybe I've seen too many for my own good...)
Anj - I thought Bubba was actually pretty good...it was one of those movies I first heard about at least a year or so before it came out at the cinemas here in Britain, but boy was it worth the wait (have also bought it on DVD...)
Jax, the cr9 refers to the notched or scalloped edging on leaves and paper. Sounds like the tip of battlements on castles
thanks for the clue anj!
Movie, I've got the dvd but i'm not sure I 'get' the film. It reminded me of House II in the way it played...
y/w darleen :)
bubba hotep??? Now that's one I managed to miss. I LOVED evil dead btw. Bruce Campbell is a hoot.
anyone have a list of A's or E's
Ne1 have cluez and/or definitions 4 the other 8...I already have the c8/50... Gracias...
thanks anj. I have been trying in that directions but too brain dead. will keep working on it. I guess 3 hrs sleep in 2 days is not so good
al 5/12 al 4/4 al 4/4 an 5/10 au 4/5 au 6/21 aw 4/7
Darleen, you star! You've just reminded to buy 'If Chins Could Kill' lol
Jax - the missing w is a wa4/7
Jax, 4 hours sleep in 2 days??? You're gonna be pretty wired there...
thanks haz
thanks jess
eh? If chins could kill??? another BC movie or book?
I meant 3 of course ha ha ha... just practising greek alternative maths :/
Darleen it's a book. Almost like confessions of a B-Movie hero. He's also got another - Make Love the Bruce Campbell Way - that might also be essential reading lol
Thanks for the tip Anj. Will have to look them up.
I know anj. I'm nuts. And I dont drink caffeine. Sigh. Will catch up tonight and tomorrow I hope. but now off to work
Bye Jax.
Hi Darleen, great beads. I still have a box of rods waiting for me to start...hubby's not fond of open flames in the family room....ok, back to Babble, I know...
artlady, read your bio, how cool is that? You must be proud!
Ne1 have cluez and/or definitions 4 the other 8...I already have the c8/50... Gracias...
Also need clues etc. 4 the 7's...those long words are getting to me again...
That's why I encourage people to register........ ;-)
Now I'm seeing 'walrus'. Tisn't there though.
he he, i plan to. I am too addicted not to.
Movieman - for the L8, think of a (perhaps petty) criminal.
r 7/36 - put in a box again
artlady ... good thing I scrolled down the log. Thanks for the compliment! :-) If I don't get back to work soon I may forget how to do it. Babble is destroying my life, lol. I too, had a fear of burning down the house but got over it real fast once I made my first bead. Give it a try ... you might like it!
Woo! That's Chin... an Thud! ordred. Didn't realise Pterry had a nother book out :)
Yo everyone :)
Hey Miy :) How's your day??
Darleen - just read your bio...as u are a fan of 'Firefly', have u seen the movie 'Serenity' and what did u think of it...?
afternoon everybody :o) Anj: hi matey, is thud actually out then?
It's...er...not over yet. I'm in my GCSE music class. And Hyari's with me ^_^
Hey miv, seen any more films lately...?
Sorry, meant Miy (slip of the finger...)
Miy, Miy, Miy...trust you are pestering the teach with j-rock then lol Say hi to Hiyari. Hi Bobsta - it is according to Amazon at least... I've got to but the damn game at some stage too.
Hey Movieman :) Haven't had the courage to see anything else recently...not after Carrie...*shudders*
Okay, she says hello back in a retarded voice :D
I've got every book so far and i don't intend to miss this one. a quick trip to 'smiths' is in order i think!!!
movieman... I live in the outer fringes. No Serenity yet for moi (sob sob)... But we're going to Billings next week for hubby's surgery so I may get to see it then.
Woah...but I have to go...class is about to start (maybe) See y'all later
Miy - don't worry, it was a while before I was brave enough to see another horror film after watching 'Elm Street' when I was 12...
Later Miy/Hiy :) Bobsta...me too, well at least all the Discworld stories and the early sci-fi studd
Also need clues etc. 4 the 7's...those long words are getting to me again...
Morning Everyone: Nice rainy Monday but it is a holiday here so babble time!!
OOOohhh, Movieman, I saw Serenity the first night. First time I've paid full $ for a movie in years.
Hi Speed :)
Darleen, my mother had to drive 60 miles to see it, 'course that was in WI, not MT.
Artlady - My son went to see that on Sat night. Same chap in that as in 'Kinky Boots'. Totally different role though!
Sppedfreak - rainy Monday? its lovely and sunny and about 23 degrees here! Welcome to the back end of summer!!!!
second 8 is an L but that's all I know . . .
I haven't seen 'Serenity' yet, 'cos my mate Punster keeps insisting that, as I never watched 'Firefly' I might not understand what's going on...
good point movieman. The series was one of the best ... too bad fox axed it. SciFi channel has been rerunning it though. Or you could BUY the dvds (just a thought). Well worth the bucks in my opinion. Esp if you're a SF fan.
Movieman - go to http://www.fireflyfans.net/ for info or just buy the DVD set - Amazon have it.
Artlady, well, it's a 120+ mile trip for us, but as I said. Hubby is having some surgery so that's as good an excuse as any to go to Billings.
Movie, there were several people near us who had not seen the series, but were with friends who had. They enjoyed it. It does a nice "catch-up" without boring us fans.
La8/50: criminal
Did anyone post the full W list? I'm missing 2 and racking my brains (and fingers). Help?
well, drat. Time to go the gym. Later all. Don't find all the words without me, now!

Hi again all :)
Hi Miyavi, how was school...?
Fine thanks Movieman...we had a supply teacher for maths, so no quadratics today...thank God...how was your day?
Not bad, just getting over a cold (should have been at work today, but got a day off tee, hee...), and am just 8 words (all c's) away from finishing yet another Babble...
Thanx, Sandypops
*tries to suppress jealousy* I'm...just a bit further behind...
Never mind, if u require ne assistance, as the AA adverts say, just ask...
Thanks, but I'm only so far behind because I'm trying to find a picture of the lead singer in my favourite band looking scary for a halloween icon. The problem is in most pictures he finds something fascinating to stare at behind him...
Thought I'd post this, might help someone. The CR5/26 which I just spent over an hour on, what kind of a word is it - no vowels. Meaning: crowd.
Hi Miy :) I just found an L7/36 that I thought didn't exist outside of AD&D... :/
anj, dont tell me you play AD&D.
Hey Anj :) Just found the best picture of Kyo being attacked by a fish :D
Hi Boreetos...not for a looooong time. I've just got a memory for the weird and wonderful in that world lol
lol Miy...don't just sit there...load it up then :)
Hi miyavi :) Hi boreetos :)
I haven't played since college. But yeah it was the good time for a while.
hi lola :)
Hi Lola :)
Hi Lo! ;)
hi miyavi. :)
Hey babe (((((xxx)))) :')
Good day/evening all :)
Hi there, lola...how ya doin'...?
Hey Boreetos :)
Hi movieman :) Good thanks and you?
hey movieman.
Hi chessy :) Oh what the hell....group hug everybody! (((((((((((((((((( ((((((((((( )))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) )))
hey lola, that is by far my favorite icon of yours yet.
Not too bad...just getting over a cold that I've had 4 the past few days (and I should have been at work 2day, but I got a day off...yahoo...)
Good Morning, Kids!
woo! i'm in :) (((((((((( ))))))))))
Thanks boreetos! I'm Anj's green fairy...seems he likes absinthe :)
Hey boreetos, how's life in the capital of the Grunge scene...?
awesome. I could use a green fairy myself some days.
Hi Torgone :)
(((((((((((((((( )))))))))))))))
liked?? Well i've got a lust for life but I draw the line at cutting my ear off lol For the record I didn't know what it was... :/
hey, didn't you hear, Grunge is dead. It's all about The Dave Matthews Band now.
Hi Chessy, Hey Torgone...looking a little pale there mate :)
Let me in on this group hug. Maybe I can bite some necks..
Hey Torgone :) Wait until Lotti comes for that!
I know the et5/16 is just staring me in the face - but I can't see it. Any cluz pleez?
nooooooooooooooooo! Boreetos, please! There's still Mudhoney, Melvins, Supersuckers, Pearl Jam to fly the flag lol :) Dave Matthews band indeed!
The et sounds like a needlecase but more Scottish.
...And Dir en Grey! *is met by huge silence*
Hey now Anj, Dave happens to be from my neck of the woods! lol!
hey calm down everyone. I'm just kidding. Heck, the way the radio stations act up here, you'd think good ole Kurt was still alive.
lola, you're from South Africa?

Glad to hear it Boreetos lol. Lo, nothing against DMB...I was just giving grunge a well needed infusion of enthusiasm :)
what just happened?? my word list has now jumped to the bottom of the page!
yeah mine too.
Ah, let me guess. IE6 browser???
hey all. I was having similar problems yesterday. I use Firefox. I had the same error message as Doogle (see his post from this morning). I think it's the Babble site....
LOL! Thanks boreetos :)
What the?! My word list has vanished!
yup. just hit refresh, Miy
And it's not at the bottom of the page either!
miyavi, scroll aaalllllll the way down!
Babbler, i'm on the Fox and I don't have a problem :/
it's intermittent, Anj. may not affect everybody, but I've been having problems for days.
yesterday, my heart stopped, I LOST my entire word list!! I had like 90 words or something. It wasn't at the bottom of the page either. It had GONE! Then I hit refresh, and it came back.
Oh dear. It was prob my word list that did it. No probs on Firefox, you see.
Press F5!
I've refreshed about ten times but it must be feeling shy
*Fans Babbler with towel...opens smelling salts*
f5 didn't change anything
you might have to log out and log back in, Miy. thx for smelling salts, Anj! : )
Mynd you, møøse bites Kan be pretty nasti...
don't be afraid of logging out -- your list will be there!!! :)
Sorry about that folks. *Creeps away red-faced with a tear in her eye. 'Only trying to help'. Sniff, sniff.*
it wasn't you, Jacula. Promise.
Nope, logged out, logged in, refreshed, kicked computer...and word list still will not appear! *throws a temper tantrum*
*'Are you sure Babbler?' says a little voice from the corner where Jacula is hiding.*
I'm so sorry Miy. How about if you power down, then reboot?
ah, Torgone... ve haf ze nice flying vether for zis time of year, ja?
It's a glitch Dr_God thought was fixed, but looks like you found a way around it Jac! That was supposed to say Moose...
Jacula, I've been having problems for days. You haven't been posting big lists every day, have you?? Well then! : )
ah, don't worry Babbler...it'll come out when it's ready. Right now it's teasing me by coming out then disappearing again :)
so it's deffo there, then, Miy. That's good. Might settle down later. Maybe it's hungry and wants its dinner....???
Could be, Babbler...though I've always brought my word lists up well, tried to teach them right from wrong...*sighs*
aaah, but they do need good food! I hope you feed them organic, GM free, biodynamic local produce! LOL !
*looks shocked* Of course, Babbler! Only the best for my little darlings!
Yay, it's back!
Er...no, it's not...
...or you could try a nice kebab with peri peri sauce made with mystery meat. Apparently folk are powerless to resist its siren song after 7 pints...
*glares* People over 18 have all the fun...*sulks*
has everyone been having problems when posting messages? I have for at least a few weeks. I hit 'post message', but it doesn't post.... I hit refresh, it still doesn't post. Finally, after much messing around, it gets there.....
That's part of the log refresh. You won't see your post until your log refreshes at the interval.
*temper starts rising* I think one computer may need a slap from the obvious fish...
Anj- lol! Have managed to avoid one of those so far!
no Brandyjack -- I thought that, but my messages sometimes totally freeze. Or they don't appear in the log even after I've posted the message and the message box is empty.
As soon as I hit hide icons my words jumped back up...
Woohoo, speedfreak for president! :)
*passes Miyavi 20lb of large wet haddock and pair of gloves* Stand back everyone... Babbler i've been getting that as well. 9 times out of 10 the refresh sorts it.
When your words jump to the bottom of the page, sometimes turning off the icons for a while will help. Although in the case of Jaq's post, it might not have. The Re string and the we string are quite long.
Chill, yav. About 5 more posts should do it. Spam a l'orange, anyone?
Sorry Torgone...I am past chilling! Thanks Anj... *takes aim*
Lo, trust me babe you don't want to go there. It's not that it's gross, it's just well, everything smells of kebab the following morning. Clothes, house, breath... :/ I avoid them like the plague.
Well, I give up. Must be Mondayitits. Anyone have clues for the 9 and the 8s?
Actually Babbler, now that you mention it, I have seen that one a few times. Mine will freeze for up to 45 minutes that I've noticed. And then poof, a large quantity of messages appears, with less than recent timestamps.
THWACK
That's showing it who's boss, Miyavi.
We have a similar delicacy in SA called a bunny chow. Half a loaf of bread, insides scooped out and replaced with curry. Directions for use: stagger into duboious looking takeaway, buy said bunnychow, stagger down to beachfront and consume :)
also, Brandyjack, I posted a reply to Miy a few mins ago, after the organic food discussion, and although I tried really hard to rescue it and post it, it simply has not appeared. : (
lol Judi...and amazingly, the word list is back!
That's the spirit Miy :) I had three browsers running last night and they all froze at about 1am. Taskmanager said they were running but nothing happened for about 20 mins so I had to bug out and restart...
Ah, the old bitch slap re-boot. It never fails.
there, there, Babbler. It's with us in spirit :)
Hey! I got beeped! I used the word for female dog. Well, shutmymowf.
thx Miy. I only wanted to say you crack me up, and I like today's icon. :'(
Thats it Miya Don't let the machines win or else it could be another Stephen King movie.......oooohhh
Ah, Anj, I couldn't have done it without your 20lb haddock...and the rubber gloves! Though infuriatingly, word list has gone AWOL again
Try going to the bottom message window, then pressing and holding ALT key, then press the backspace key a few times. This might allow you to retrieve your message.
Lo, now that sounds familar babe lol Hey, you just have to be introduced to Cap'n Jaspers Half a Yard of Dog :) You actually get a badge if you finish it :D
Thanks Babbler :D
I get home from work wondering if I've got time to find 197 words, and then I see Jacula's list.....it's given me heart! evening all, and thanks Jacula :)
Anj- ??!!
Speed - I'm not going there again! I've read the Shining but there's no way I'm getting that one out...not after Carrie...had a few disturbing dreams last night!
I'm back. The non-Babbling world intervened. Is the prob sorted? Does Miyavi have her words back? I have to go and cook trout and new potatoes now.
I think you should sue Blockbuster for letting you rent cert 18 films when you're only 13.....
8s? 9? Clues? *big puppy dog eyes*
Uh...they were back for a bit. Then went away again.
yavi - Are you displaying only the last 50 posts?
Brandyjack -- I'm having a go at alt and backspace. Something is happening............. dunno what yet......
Lo, it's a fisherman's breakfast. The takeaway is on PLymouth's Barbican...or at least it was last time I was down there. 2 x Sausage, 6 x bacon, 3 x eggs plus whatever else you want (beans, fried onions etc) all crammed into 18" of baguette :) It's a beast lol
Ah...the guy serving me at blockbuster had really dirty glasses, and I was with tall people...I'll take pity on them :)
Right, supper is ready. Be back later :)
Torgone - the chat log's up to date, it's just the word list that's gone. Probably somewhere in some wormhole in the universe. Probably.
lol! Er...think I'll take your word for it babe! I'll drink coffee and watch you eat it okay?
...er, that was my plan lol. Tell you what, we can each jave a bacon roll and watch someone ELSE eat it :)
Now that sounds like a good idea...lol!
Oh damn, now the supper is burning!
Sorry to repeat again, but would really appreciate clues for the 9 and the 8s. Humble gratitude.
...nothing wrong with burnt crispy bits...
Hi all - back after a busy Babble-free weekend. Darn the real world! Judi - I have only one 8 - la8/50 - a petty thief. Would also appreciate clues for the other 8 and 9! :)
Bless you, Bugzy.
Cr9/66 Having a margin with very small, low, rounded teeth
Judi ce8/50 sky blue cr9/66 small toothed edging, like uppy downy bit on top of castles!
Ah, thank you babbler and chessy!!
:( can't see sky blue.....
... found it! :)
Thank you. Now, moving onto the 7's. Anyone have a run-down of those?
L7/ 36 R7/36 R7/40 T7/44 W7/44
Well, I already have that info, Babbler. I was looking for maybe the first and 2nd letter for each.
The second letter of the L is U
soz Judi. I only have re7/36 - put in a box again.
Okay...I'm tuning out for a moment to do some food tech homework...see y'all later
*weak...dizzy* Food, need food... Back later :)
see you later, Miy! :)
Judi: lu7/36 re7/36 re7/40 ta7/44 wa7/44
Bye Miyavi. Food tech? Hey, don't clone any cows if you know what's good for ya.
Wait a second...the chat log is enticing me back...cloning cows, Judi?! The closest we've gotten in my class is mutating bread dough :)
Hi all, just popping in whilst my cakes are in the oven, how is everyone?
Any clues for u`s????????
What kind of cakes, mum?
think bator...
ok, probably too wierd and obscure. Sorry, dazza.
Jam and Cream sponge torgone
Oookay...all this food tech homework and talk of cakes is making me hungry...I'm off to scavenge :)
Confound the 7's! Need definitions or other clues for Re7-40, Ta7-44 and Wa7-44. Feel like a dunce today.
Yum! Love to sink my fangs into one of those! ur5/8 is a salt of uric acid.
Judi: re7/40 American hound ta7/44 strong smelling plant of genus Madia wa7/44 military commander
Jazz singer, Leon Re7/40.
He's performing near me (or just did)...
Stunning clues chessy thankyou
y/w :)
Thank you, thank you Torgone - that re7 was driving me nuts!
thx Torgone, I would never have got that r7/40, being in UK and not being too familiar with american hounds! : )
Could I have a more Google-able definition for the American hound? I'm a cat person...
Got all except the W7-44. Could we expand on that clue a little?
try Torgone's clue, Jera...
Thing is, I have 2 hounds and have never heard of this kind!! Any hints for the re6/18... I'm not seeing it...
Never mind, just found the W7. Geesh. Duh.
To get your paycheck... again!
gizza clue, Judi! :) purdy pleez!
Thanx Jera -- the double letter threw me off...
I'm still duh on the wa-7... not as smart as Judi!
Happy to help (it's good karma)!
wa7/44 - compound word - armed conflict + supreme ruler
Jera first part is what soldiers fight in, second part is another word for a master or male of the upper classes
I just found the cr 5/26. Does anyone have a definition for that 5 letter word with NO vowels?
Any clues for lu7/36????
LOL... yup, duh!! ty jakes-mum...
It's a brand of dairy products where I am (lu7)
Still need the dog clue, if someone could help me please...
Any local UK clues???
the lu7 is the name of a very famous lake aswell!
Lu7/36 is also a city in Switzerland ...
cr5/26 - Welsh for crowd
artlady -- it means 'crowd'.
W7- Compound word: Three letter word for current action in Iraq + another word for a gentleman of the royal court (would escort a Lady).
chessy, is it a city? I always thought it was a lake. Not that I ever looked it up on a map!! : )
re7/40 - A color plus b4/6
Jera, first part is colour, 2nd part is one of your bo4/6 words ...
L7 - sounds like the lake in Switzerland, only replace the z with a c.
Thanks, Tor. I thought it might be Welsh.
Babbler, city by the lake :)
Could anyone post a list of A's? have only got 1
Babbler, it's both. It's a beautiful place--I was there briefly this summer. Great art museums and chocolate.
al 5/12 al 4/4 al 4/4 an 5/10 au 4/5 au 6/21 aw 4/7

U5/10
Thankyou Babbler, I just got all the A's one after the other from your list!
y/w jera ; )
u5/10: A salt of uric acid
Fab. Thanks.
*sighs* Anyone know anything about filo pastry? Food tech homework...
what do you want to know? how many layers for the ideal filo pastry?
Miyavi, never let it dry out before cooking ...
Makes great baclava!
I mean Baklava!
I'm sure Saint Delia Smith has loads of great tips on her website :)
superb alternative base for homemade pizza!
After I'm done snarfing the baklava, all the honey, nuts and cinnamon on my face makes it look like a baclava...
Wow, thanks...any idea how it's made?
If you're looking for a recipe, Napoleans are easy with Filo pastry. Just slap a little custard in the middle of a few layers and frost the top. Voila! Dessert.
Any other clues for cr9/66 ???????
Dazza - scroll down to Babbler's clue at 1:31 p.m.
lol brandyjack!! miy, you roll out pastry again.... and again.... and again.... (or you buy it ready made) grrr... I'm so annoyed with posting message problems... : (
lol Babbler, I can see it now..."so, how do you make filo pastry?" "oh, you open the packet" *sighs*
If I remember rightly, Miy, you need either 8 or 16 layers. You roll and roll and roll, till the layers are really fine. It's very tricky and you need a cold kitchen. (I did it at school).
I'm missing a B & I think it's a 4/9... could I have second letter hint, please?
Hello, Just popped in during a late lunch break and saw that you wre looking for filo dough recipes, Miyavi. Apple strudel - spread grated apples, cinnamon, sugar, and ground walnuts (sultanas are optional) on about 8 layers of buttered filo dough. Roll up, slather on melted butter, and bake for 30 min.

Awwww...thanks Speed...but I still wish I wasn't so young! I feel very inferior on here!
Woohoo! well done FMitch :) Champers?
This puzzle takes the Welsh word for crowd, but won't take "brulee"???? *stomps feet in infantile tantrum*

Oh miy - what would you like to drink?
Here's some ginger ale for you, Miyavi. *pours*
Hi all, meeting cancelled - HOORAY!!! Miyavi - dont feel inferior cos you're young - you more than hold your own here and we all look forward to your posts - what we need is more youth like you, remember you'll always be younger than someone - a comforting thought for some of us!!!

Hiya, Bobsta. Having driven on both sides of the road, I can honestly say neither side is better than the other.
thanks lola I am working on it
Miyavi- only most of the african continent, australia, new zealand....lol!
I think they drive on the same side as us in Massachusetts. (??)
Hey bobsta :)
lNight Fmitch,Hi Bobsta - now having really senior moments - just tries to post this in the add word box!
It's not the left or the right side you have to worry about... it's the crazy wankers behind the wheels that's scarey!
Fine Lola...knock me off my high horse! :)
hey lola, hey judi :)
Miyavi, this site shows a map of who drives on which side http://en.wikipedia.org/ wiki/Rules_of_the_road
lol Judi! I'll stick with getting my friends to carry me then!

Not a swear word here in the U.S. Fun to use, though.
Don't worry Lola! I'm too arrogant anyway :D
Haven't touched a drop CATHB but I'm not promising not too. I'm losing my tan so perhaps a touch of liver trouble will add some colour to my cheeks!
Ooookay, better go. Don't think I will learn to drive in the end, I get my friends to carry me everywhere anyway! It pays off being the smallest in the group! Night all :)

Hello everyone I've just trawled through the chat log (and thoroughly enjoyed it) looking for a clue for my last word - the American hound. I don't join in much of the chat as I'm quite slow compared to you younger folk but I do enjoy your company. Thanks for sharing the clues I'd never complete a game without them.
I have the full second letter count if anyone would like it.....
Bless you, Blaze, that will help me tremendously!

It's what a Boston super goes down to the cella to check.
gulp!
I'm having a Red Dwarf moment now... "Holly, alarm call four-thirty in the morning. Make it the sonic boom, extra loud, emergency one."
torgone- lol!

Oh, red dwarf *rotfl*

Yeah! finished the b's... torgone - your clue helped...are you from MA?
I went to college there...my roomie had a thick Boston accent...I just pictured her saying a word!
EB - I'm from OH originally. When I found that word from someone else's great clue, that's what it sounded like to me.
ditto for me...thnx!
"why dont we remove few bricks from around the bars here, then, using a rope woven from this hessian, we could fashion a sort of pulley system, that wil take out the bars, then jump a couple of guards, nick their seords, and fight our way back to the ship?" "Or we could just use the teleporter."
Cat: Ok. I say let's get into the jet-powered rocket pants and junior birdman the hell out of here! Kryten: An excellent and inventive suggestion, sir, with just two tiny drawbacks: a) We don't have any jet-powered rocket pants; and b) there's no such thing as jet-powered rocket pants outside the fictional serial 'Robbie Rocket Pants'. Cat: Well, that's put a crimp on an otherwise damn fine plan. lol :)
Hi again! I'm baaaack =o)

How many he4's are there??
10 he words
is it just me or is today's list really counter-intuitive? i'm haing the hardest time building words.
My list sez I need another he4 but I can't for the life of me find it... waste of time if my list is wrong & I'm done! So how many he4's are there?
Jera, 8 x he4 5 x 7, 2 x 8 and 1 x 10
Jera hit refresh
and while I'm typing, I'm reading the log from about 5:08. What the heck were you guys typing about?! Jet powered rocket pants?! I almost messed myself.
Its like wading through treacle Boreeto. So slow and as I'm trying to follow the leader & not A2Z it's even harder! I'm not sure I'll be able to keep this up tho'
Refresh won't help my paper list... more's the pity...
Boreetos - it's Red Dwarf. Like Dark Star only weirder...much weirder lol. British tv series 50 episodes over 8 series :)
jera re check your words and stat panel..... maybe one word did not enter
oh shit, of course. I know Red Dwarf. I have almost all of them on DVD. I love that show. I cannot believe that I didn't get the reference.
I need another he4/7... I have doctor, listen, warmth & foot... help??
lola - where is the wine at?
hi ya less one l
What are we talking about? That's crazy. Wilma'd never leave Fred and we know it.
Jera - sounds like a greeting -remove an l
Greeting minus a letter
...and of course, the classic: Cat: What are we waiting for, why don't we raise the defensive shields? Kryten: An excellent plan, sir, with only two minor drawbacks: One, we don't have any defensive shields and two, we don't have any defensive shields. Now I know technically speaking that's only one drawback, but I thought it was such a big one, it was worth mentioning twice.
ty snowyowl... would've never guessed that one... although I have been trying to spell halo a good part of the afternoon, LOL!
Actually... perhaps Anj has the wine... Anj?
I needed that, Anj. Love the cat. I made the mistake of turning on the news.
Rimmer- working on a crossword? Lister- Nah, connect the dots... It's a Bucket and Spade!
pleased to help Jera - I got one from your list too so fair exchange is no robbery!
by 4/9 need one have one
Oh me too TSM its been driving me mad
Sorry toes, was in non-babbleland reading love letters ;) No wine but I've always got champagne! Want some?
by4/9- change the last letter (e or L) :)
hi Guys 'n Gals......help me.......am i still doing yesterdays puzzle or has it just been a long day????
Deutsch, it's getting as if the good news is the ray of light in a cloudy sky, and it should be the other way about if you ask me. Or am I being naive? *Pops cork on bottle of Chateauneuf du Pape 1965* Anyone for a snort??
Hi tbear :)
Hey bear :) Did you make it home OK?? Did Dave???
Yes, Anj to both.
lola - I would love some champagne! I'll bring the glasses and the men! haha ;) j/k
I mean no you're not naive. The news should have some positives.
Anj - snort? sure... rock me
*lola holds out her glass* Yes please, but I must warn you, this will be my third glass tonight ;)
TYVM Lola No tbear you're still doing yesterdays!!!!! - Sorry start again Hi tbear Its been a long day hasn't it?!

Anj, are you trying to get me tipsy?!

*mutters* ..damn!

*lola looks around* Do you think we're alone babe?
* clears throat* Am I interrupting?
Deutsch, you gooseberry! lol :')
*stifles giggles*
Sorry, don't mind be. Just looking for words. *blushes*
babbler! I was just... You see... *blushes even more*
LOL! You lurkers you!
me too. not using a2z either.
Babbler, have you been snorkling in the custard tub again? No worries Deutsch. We're under control...for now ;) Need any help??
aaah Anj! cu6/33 ??
It's not like that, Lola. I... uh... well then... have you a word uh, say a uh.. *looks desperately at list*
Yes, that's it, cu6/33
*whispers* Deutsch, ask for de6/30....
Need help with LE6, please...
lol you pair :) cu6/33 start with your cu4/6 as it not straight hair and adds a couple of letters to create wading birdie :)
thx anj. gottit!
jera - past tense of le5
Jera, it's one of those T past tenses, not ed...
Sheesh... shoulda seen that one coming...
Good evening. I KNOW I won't finish this tonight, but I'll putz for a while. :-)
de6/30 ...sounds like it could be counting in for music: With de...... detwo, de...... two, many, lots...
Welcome to the world of the Obvious Fish Jera. It's depressingly overworked in these parts today :/ lol :)
Hi Jo? er, putz??
You know, play around ..... with no aim or purpose :-) American ism
nope, music clue does not compute... : (
putz is yiddish
Sorry .... you're right Robert ... but, I love Yiddish :-)
Hi Robert, Jo, didn't see you come in.
Ah, like some of ourvfootball teams then. Maybe the FA should drop the FC and just say Putz. Would sound great in the European Championship: "And tonight we bring you a 1st round tie between Dukla Prague and Dorking Putz"
hey
Robert, isn't putz yiddish for something? Or a person? Do you know?
Yes, but do you know what a putz is?
Babbler, er, Cpt Jack walks into a room and all the women go 'oooh, he's de.... for me' It's a different spelling of the old Babble favourite "various government officials in India, especially a regional prime minister"
I just looked it up. I thought that's what it is.
: ') *sniff* thtoopid words..... *sobs* thx Anj, gottit in the end....
Must say good night. It's been fun. see you Tuesday
nite deutsch! sweet dreams!
y/w Babbler. Ok, we stick to the fool about or behave in an idle manner definition for the pu4/15 then. All those in favour say aye!
'nite Deutsch :)
Woo! New pic Artlady??
Jo - lol ha! victory is mine :)
Yep. I have 3 based on pics i use on my bulletin board at school. How teacher-y!
am struggling tonight - clue fo rthe by4/9 please?
sandr there are 2 x by4/9 - first sounds like you've sold something as in found a b... for it. - second changes the last letter and becomes on all-consonant word :)
thanks 4 that anj but am gonna admit defeat for tonight. Am v tired and am just not seeing it. Thanks
Any clues for 2 re 4's. I have 4/5 and 4/4 (complete again and fishing tackle). Also need the re 6. Thanks, anyone....
You got mail babe ;)
there are only two re4s the re6 - to get your wages.... again
artlady- the re6 means to make money again.
Thanks Lola and Babbler. I'm working off a really old list from this morning.
...woo!
Hello. Is it safe to come in?
Hi jacula :)
Hi Jac :)
No 'Etna' today - apart from the one my full 2nd letter list seemed to cause earlier.
Anyone car to give me a hint on the la8?
...we nearly had eolian though. That's a regular...
Hi Lola & Anj & ArtLady (like the new pic) . Did Miyavi_Fan get her words back?
Hi Swimmy - think grand la......ny, that favourite crime staple of 70/80s cop shows, and change they y to er
In the USA it's called 'Grand La*****' when someone steals. The person who commits the act might be known as a la****er.
Thank you both!!!
...oo-err...it's that wavelength thing again...
LOL Anj.
Wonder what Miyavi's been watching tonight? One of the 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' movies oer maybe one of the 'Final Destination' ones? Nothing like scaring yourself to death in your early teens. LOL.
Hey babe, one more song and then I must get some sleep :)
I do hope she doesn't get hold of a copy of 'The Exorcist'.
Is Anj playing lullabies to Lola? Aw! That's sweet.:-)
LOL!
Lola - is your new icon a bat in a bikini or a butterfly??
No insult intended!
jacs- it's a green fairy. Inspired by Anj's experience of absinthe :)
lol! None taken :)
There's a new book been published about absinthe. I was reading about it in The Sunday Times.
Oh yeah?
Hey y'all. I liked that bit about "snorkling in the custard tub" about an hour ago. That's *got* to be a euphemism.
Doogle! I'm sure I have no idea what you mean...lol!
...can't breathe otherwise, Doogle....
141 words so far, without using a2z, but relying heavily on my Babble Buddies. Getting verrrry tired and sleeeeepy......
Can't remember the title and who wrote it now. Will let you know later when I've retrieved it from the newspaper pile in the rabbit/guinea pig shed. I do remember a bit in the article about Toulouse Lautrec and how he would amble water into the glass to make the mixture cloudy. In those clouds lay artistic visions. LOL.
*throws bucket of cold water over babbler*
*splutters* gordon bennet, Lola!
LOL! Artistic visions? I know a few other things that can cause those...
laughs her head off over the snorkelling in a custard tub thing and its replies. Decides not to put any interpretations of her own on it as Taureans can be very crude! :-/
gordon bennet??
I've got the sunday times.... I'll take a mini-break and see if I can find this book. Is it this week's, Jac?
OK babe, i'm getting pretty sleepy myself here too :) lol Doogle...we will have to submit that to Viz and see if they can add it to Roger's Profanasaurus :')
Gordon Bennett. 'Bloody Hell', 'Gawd!' etc. An interjection of surprise and sometimes pain or amusement.
Yes...but why??
Jac, i'm a Taurean! ...but you'd already guessed that lol
Yes, this week's Babbler. *Thinks, hope to Gordon Bennett it wasn't The Mail on Sunday!* LOL.
Anj - I think we've had this discussion already. There is no other sign you could be!
I have the Mail on Sunday too!! It's not in the Culture section, so it must be in the mail......
Gordon Bennet: http://www.peevish.co .uk/slang/articles/gordon-benn ett.htm Don't forget to remove the spaces
it's not in You magazine. was it in one of the mags, or in the newspaper sections?
Slap slap! Get serious folks. While you're lollygagging around in the custard pool I'm cursing the R's. I need 2 re 5's, have the do having to do with doing or happening again.
Jac, but why? What is so essentially Taurean about me???
Don't get flustered by the custard, ArtLady!
artlady - do you have the 2 that might be having to do with reshowing a tv show?
The custard's fine, it's the sharks....
Thanks babe :)
Artlady - it's probably a 'ginger' thing you're looking for. You may look at us somewhat re**y once you find it.
Yes, I have the 5/10 and the 5/14.
I'm missing 1 re 5 myself. I have the 2 that might have to do with tv or if you think of the last 3 letters maybe with a race, then I have one that the last 3 letters are a mongrel. missing one
Anj - I don't know. Maybe it takes one to know one?
artlady- they are both 5 10, just change the last vowel. one is present and one is past tense
are you sure you weren't reading about the Degas, Sickert, Toulouse,-Lautrec exhibition, Jac? Degas did a painting called Absinthe, about a drunk prostitute.
Now I have the 5/18....and my face is a bit....should have seen that one.
Babbler - might have been in the newspaper review section.
Lollygagging - that's a word I haven't heard for years!
thanks jacula that was the one I was missing to. now my last 2 t's and I'm done...
...lol Jac. I thought I might be exhibiting signs of being a mad cow. Don't be silly. Now, I'm just off to cut some grass for breakfast...
Careful, Jac...no comments on age! I have a custard pie ready...
Jax, would one of those be the ta6/24 by any chance??
Goodnight everyone, happy babbling, see you tomorrow :) 'nite babe((((((xxx))))))) sweet dreams :)
I'm going to retire at 141 words. Not bad, considering. Sweet dreams everybody!! : )
ArtLady - the only comment I would make about age right now is that a vintage wine is the most sought after. (At least that's what my 12 years' younger other half tells me!)
AAck! Thanks, Jax...I finally opened my eyes to the obvious...with your clue!
lol Jacula!
YW artlady - that one had me stuck for awhile
Babbler - I'll seek out that article later. Might have been in Saturday Times 'Books'.
My last 2 words, the ta 6 and 7, any clues??
28 left...L's and O's....
What clues would you like, Artlady?
The definition for this word, a variant of a te6/24 is: Any of various insectivorous mammals of the family Tenrecidae, of Madagascar and adjacent islands, similar to the hedgehog but having a long pointed snout and often no tail. Change the second letter to an 'e'.
ta7/44: Any of several strong-smelling, resinous western American and Chilean plants of the genus Madia, having yellow, rayed flower heads. Stuff roads are surfaced with plus unwanted plant.
'nite Lo - take care babe (((xxx)))
The clue at 8.12pm for ta6/24 - meant change the 2nd letter to an 'a'. Sorry about that!
Who's just gone - Lola or Anj?
Wow jacula thanks. those are quite the definitions! but they helped and I'm done. My services are available to those in need, but I would have to say you are in capable hands with Jacula!
*Anj checks for a pulse* Woo! still have vital signs...
Jax - where are you located?
'nite Babbler :)
So it's Lola we need to stand back and shock then, Anj? LOL.
Michigan - USA
Ok, I'm getting really lazy (oooh nice collision in the Yankees/Angels game) and don't want to work hard. I have 3 of the la4's..4/4, 4/7, 4/7 and I also need the la 8. Please? (Go Angels!)
la8/44 - think 'grand lar****' - thieving. Someone who commits that act is a lar***er.
goood evening Jac's back to finish 20 words
la 5 and 6, a type of old sword that you might throw and the one that does it. la 8 - one who steals. think grand la...y
I only have 3 la 4 artlady
I could use a clue for the nu 6
Thanks, Jac and Jax...now I remember seeing that clue earlier. However, I'm still missing an la 4 something or other.
artlady - there are only 3 x la 4
art lady did you take a vowel off of la 5/16 ??
There are only 3 la4's
lol Jac, leave that to me :)
la5/14 - old knight's weapon for jousting, also a man's name. la6/24 - person who uses the above weapon. la8/50 - person who commits grand theft in USA. la4/4 - tardy. la4/7 - thin strip or wood or metal. la5/16 - a machine for shaping wood or metal. la4/7 - a plot of grass, usually found in a garden.
Has everyone died?? Or am I witnessing a stunned silence for some reason?
Thanks, Blaze. Yes I had. AND I got the L's. Thanks, folks. Last for the o"s......
Nothing dead here....just slaving to the babble grid god
What about that nu6 clue Blaze requested? I was planning to eavesdrop on it!
He's not a God, he's a Jamie. LOL. Sorry Boss *bows deeply*.
Oh not that Babble God.... the little grid gods that hide the words..... more like fairies.....LOL
It's one of those grids today though... challenging is the polite word to use...

And on that (top F I believe) it's time for me to grab some beauty sleep. See you tomorrow/today/anon/in 7 hours/Jimmy* Happy Babbling :) *delete as appropriate
Thanks, Blaze. Must have been too subtle for me (ha ha)
Thanks for all the help, folks. I managed to struggle through another. Work tomorrow, so I have to take a break....famous last words....buona notte!
Didn't see that. Nu6/24: 1. A subtle or slight degree of difference, as in meaning, feeling, or tone; a gradation. 2. Expression or appreciation of subtle shades of meaning, feeling, or tone.
Nos da, ArtLady.
Thanks, Jacula. got it.

The rest of you celebrate with wild partying, but I'm afraid I can think of no more luxurious reward than sleep. Maybe we could install a large comfy bed next to the jacuzzi - but behind a sound-proof barrier!

good evening everybody. Could I get some help with re7/40, please. tyia
re7/40 - name of band, leader was called Leo. Also a type of American hound , a c**nhound. I put the stars in for the two 5th vowels.
re7/40: two sylables. #1: color #2 osseous portion of the body :)
Failing those clues - a 'rare' cooked bone from the Sunday joint might look a bit like this once you've given it to your dog to chew.
Now I need help with the yo5/18, please...
yo5/18 - think Frank Ifield's old song, 'She Taught Me To Yo***' and then change the last two letter around.
Got it!!! Thanx
Thought you would SWMBO. I hope GRAMMA's got clue also.
ty I finally got it.
'She'? has!
Can someone help me with the ur5?

I got the blue one. I have 22 words =x How many are there?
old English for you?
can someone tell me what a "babble word" is?
mmm I already got old english. i have 25 words now.
197 words today.
SWMBO - te4/4 - sea bird (Duck) te4/4 - to rip te4/4 - what a golfer does to start a shot te4/4 - sesame oil te4/4 - a thin tissue or weblike structure
Yeah, I've had that occasionally all day, Babbler, and I use Firefox also. So it's not just an IE problem (as one may have come to expect). No big deal, though, I guess.
A Babble word is either something that crops up constantly, like the Sicilian volcano, et** (et4/4) or a word tht is undefined in no other dictionary other than 'Enable', which it is also not defined in.
Thanks Jacula - That helps :)
what does stuff like 4/4 mean?
# of letters/total points for word 4/4 = 4 letter word worth 4 points
Each tile on the grid has a points value, just like Scrabble tiles do. So, an et4/4 is a word that begins with 'et' and totals 4 points. In the case of the one I was on about, the word is 'etna'. It is allowable because it is also another term for a Bunsen burner.
I think it is the sesame oil. I am positive I am looking right at it!
Woah, sorry for the non sequitur, folks. I just happened to read a post written nearly 11 hours ago and responded to it. Probably about the same way my 96-year-old grandmother converses.
s'okay Babbler. I knew what you were on about.
swmbo that is my te nemisis tooooooo.... plus 4 re words...
I can help with the re words... which ones?
SWMBO - here in Worcestershire the Court Leet meets, so that's a word I never miss on Babble, nor the reverse of it.
swmbo this is what I have re 7/40 re 5 18 re 4 5 re 4 4 re 5 10 re 5 10
and another grand save by Jacula...thank you
re 7 36 to box up again re 5 14 to happen again, as the return of disease re 7 40 two parts: #1: color, #2: skeleton re 5 18 Crimson-ly re 4 5 to do something over again re 6 18 To deserve again re 4 4 a scottish dance re 5 10 the eternal showing of old TV shows re 5 10 past tense of re5/10
Never thought of myself as a sporting hero Blaze. LOL. Thanks for that!
*groan* Thank you Jacula!!! I was right, i was looking right at it! Must go to bed, Nytol and thanks again!
Halftime of the Charger game. Who's on?
Know how you feel SWMBO, have been doing that for about a week myself. However, nocturnal alter-persona raring to go now.:-/
Hi, Torgone, call me Anno. It's on behind me. Go Steelers! (I'm in Philly, they're closer to me)
Torgone. Hello. If it's sport, I've no idea! Sorry.
I need a rear view mirror to watch the game. Babble? Football? Babble.. ..wins!
terrahhhh terah.... I am done yet again another grid gone by.... for at least two hours anyway LOL
I'm back... does anyone need any help or are things going smoothly here??
Yay Blaze! No worries, Jacula. We're all just Babblers here, JB.
OOh, I got here just in time to celebrate... yay for Blaze!!
And... done! I think it's a statement on the way my brain's been working (or not), that the ne6/18 was the one which really had me stumped for the longest time.
Doogle that was one of the first I got, but then I've had a lot of brain surgery & ensung problems...
Anyone out there still requiring assistance?
Hi Jacula! Just got back... a list of w's would be most appreciated, if convenient! Thanks!
Greetings, sfneil... I'm just hanging out, too, ready & willing to help...
WA 4/7,4/10,4/7,4/7,7/44,4/7,4/7, 4/7,4/7 WE 4/7,5/18,4/7,4/7,6/27,4/8,5/24 ,4/7,4/7,4/8,6/30,6/30 WR 5/22,4/7
Cool, Jera... good to know! The only other letters I have missing words in are h and a -- but they're a mess!
So, I'm nowhere near DONE, but I AM over 100 words AND over 1000 points. (TY for all the great hints.) I'm taking it slow, I've only been doing this since last Tuesday! Night all, morning comes early when the alarm goes off at 4:45am.
Thanks so much, Jacula!!
100 words is a great milestone!!
It sure doe JBSAnnO.
A list: al5/12 al4/4 al4/4 an5/10 au4/5 au6/21 aw4/7

Gotta go watch CSI w/hubby... back in about 45...
G'night, Jera... you and Jacula are lifesavers! I may even finish the grid thanks to you guys!!
Hiya Neil... are you by yourself here?
Maybe so, Hugs! I didn't get as much time today for babble, but I'm down to twomissing h's now!
Hi All. Chipping away at them but no luck on the Ta7 - anyone have a clue?
Hi Dianne ta7 is what you pave the road with plus something you don't want growing in your garden!
Well I can help both of you as much as I can.
Which H's are you missing?
Thanks, Hugs! Looks like I'm somehow missing an he4/7. I've got: mend listen warmth foot part what am i missing?
Sfneil - you are missing the aircraft one. Thanks for the help on the Ta7:)
Hi Hugs, Neil. I'm lurking and about to throw in the towel. I don't have the knack for this. The obsurity of so many of hte words just overwhelms me. After finding the obvious words and guessing on the four letter oddities, I'm completely lost.
It looks like a greeting missing the double consonant in the middle
Ah! Thanks Dianne and Hugs!
Hi mab... yeah, today's grid wasn't as nice as yesterdays... that's for sure.
Jera posted an H list and the last one listed is He5/10. Is this right? I have an He4/10.
Are there really two he5's? 'Cause if there's one, that's what I'm missing... and if there's two, I'm missing both, and something is screwy
Dianne, It is he4/10
Oh, thanks Hugs! So I'm just missing the he5 then.
the he5/16 - baboom baboom baboom
And of course just found it... gotta have that!
Thanks Hugs
Whew! Done! Thanks everyone!
Congrats neil - with lots of time to spare too
Yes, Hugs... I was sure it was going to be down to the wire tonight! What a relief!
How are you doing, Dianne? Lots more yet?
Surprisingly few totally Martian words today... mainly just regular words hiding well!
Hugs - I'm doing o.k. but still need a lot more :( Trying to finish the Hs. I have all but the 2nd He4/8 - I have the listen/obey one. Any help?
Yeah, but for some reason, I just couldn't see so many of them.
Dianne it's past tense of having something (or someone) in your arms
Oh, you need the past tense of having something in your hands.
Hugs - And I just got new glasses - DUH. Right in my face and I couldn't see it - thanks!
still, i'd love to know what the bo5/20 means...
Sfneil - we could sure make up a few good meanings!
Indeed, Dianne... indeed!
I found this on it... —n. Australian. a witch doctor; sorcerer. Also called koradji, coraji.
Those wacky Aussies!
It was one of many that had me stumped.
the de6/30, maybe?
Oh yeah... that was one too. But surprisingly, I picked out the do5/18 quite early on.
yeah, I always check any archaic forms I can think of... seems a bit arbitrary though as to which ones will fly
I was a bit surprised lo4/5y wasn't accepted though
i typed that in three times!! i'm from the US south by birth, and I can definitely report that is considered a word there!
It's used often up here too... I mean anyone who's ever turned 40 has had it written on some sort of poster... lo4/5y lo4/5y look who's 40.
I'm literally laughing out loud now! I've never heard that rhyme before!
Seriously? It's always used in birthday announcements in the paper too!
of course it's several years too late to use it for myself... sigh...
*heavier sigh* I know what you mean... but when it happened to me, I awoke with a huge sign on my front lawn saying those exact words... and it was strewn with 40 various pairs of old boots
actually, it was 20 pairs equalling 40 boots
Wow! Is that traditional, as well? What is the significance of the boots? (That you've had a long trek?)
It's a demeaning phrase to women... You old boot!
Oh, now that's just mean!
My youngest sister thought it was hilarious! :o(
I'm dreading the thought of what she'll do next year.
Yeah... wait 'til it happens to her! *frown*
Is next year another milestone? (Sorry... I really am a Southerner at heart... please don't feel obligated to reveal your age... a gentleman never asks.)
She's past the 40 mark now... and I was very nice... but I did put 40 balloons and a big sign in front of the hair salon she works in right on the corner of two main drags... hehe
Doesn't it say in my profile? My birthday was 4 weeks ago.
My bad. Happy belated birthday!! And 'hugs' from me!
Awww... thank you! :o)
OMG - sooo many left to find and so little time (damn work yesterday!). Can't find the Er4 (not bird) or the El5 (not happy) or that De6. Any help?
there is only 1 er4/4
the el5 - that would be me in my family.... the other sibs are younger
Hugs - you see what kind of shape I'm in - OMG!
de6: start with how you spell out the letter 'd', then add (crossword clue here) a three-letter word for 'pale' or 'ashen'
do you have the eu4/4? the across the ocean currency?
I'm back... sorry for the confusion with my list... looking cross-eyed at the next word...
Hugs and Sfneil - thanks so much. Neil, what part of the south are you from?
no worries, Jera... you saved me!
Hi Jera - did you watch CSI Miami?
Dianne: I'm from coastal North Carolina, near the South Carolina border (Charleston, etc.)
No, it was a recording of the original... luv Miami as well, though!
Drats - I nodded off during a commercial and missed the last 10 minutes of tonight's Miami.
I am looking for the Do5 and Do4 (not animal, unemployemnt or the one that sounds like an exit). Yes, thankss Hugs I have the eu/money.
Now Neil honey, my family would say your almost a southerner. Mine is from Mississippi.
do5 is biblical talk for 'you do' in the present tense
Neil - I need to spend a little time with The Good Book - thanks.
I usually watch the recording the next day, ask me tomorrow afternoon...
But, Dianne, honey-chile... you must know you're always welcome to the real South! Come on in and set a spell!
Neil, I grew up in NC... near Fayettville (in the middle)... went to college in Raleigh
If you got greens and cornbread with some nice ice tea I'll be right over.
Dianne - there are 2 that sound like an exit. I'm not sure which one is an animal though.
Jera, cool! People never believe me when I tell them that Fayetteville is actually pronounced 'fed-vul'!
Dianne, you will always find those in my home! I've got sweet tea and plain.
Actually, it's Fayette-Nam... but that's a military joke...
Hugs - I can't read my own writing - not an animal but a person who does things. I should just sit the rest of this one out - I'm too discombobblated.
Yes... familiar with that, too, Jera!
The 2 do's that sound like exit: one ends in a vowel, the other has a double consonant...
There's one that rhymes with goat
SFneil - what about "bolled" peanuts?
Go Airborne! I'm an Air Force brat, my da was stationed at Pope AFB... I think they are closing it...
Hugs - thanks - got that one:)
I do boiled peanuts occasionally, but that's more of a mississippi/alabama thing (though they certainly can be found in the carolinas).
But I dated a lot of Paratroopers back in the day... ah, the memories!
I wasn't born in Miss but spent some time there as a teenage and then later visiting my mom and family. But even thoough I was raised in New York i was raised by souther parents.........the osuth travels with you:)
Not only do I need to give up on this puzzle I also need to learn how to type and spell.
Dianne... it certainly does! I was born in NC, where both sides of my family had been for generations, but my dad was in the Coast Guard, so we moved all around... but every summer (my mom was a schoolteacher, so she had the summers off) we spent in North Carolina at her mom's/sisters' places. I'm a southerner who grew up all over America!
Honey chile - I have the south in my heart, a New York city accent and live in Hong Kong - talk about being confused!
Law' chile! And I forgot to mention I finished high school in the Netherlands! They had great fun trying to sort out my mother's accent.
When I was a teen I spent one school year in Miss and worked part time in the local department store - one day a gentleman cam in looking for step ins for his wife - I tried to sell him some backless sliippers - turns out he want underpants!
You are just a man of the world, Neil! Me, I've never been out of the southeast, let alone the country. I keep threatening one day to just jump in the car & drive to the Canadian border... just to be able to say I've left the country. I'll come right back... probably...
Ah, Jera... the southeast is so lovely, though, in so many ways. Coming from there, it's almost a built-in nostalgia, which I can never hope to recover.
It's funny, I grew up in the sandhills, now I don't know what I'd do without my mountains! I've spent the last 13 years in the incomparable Shenandoah Valley... absolutely gorgeous country...
Here we go... next puzzle!!
