Linguistics. I think I remember that from my Eng. major days. Lots of Persian words in our current English. A friend of mine was (may even still be) prof. of eng/ling. at Duke.
Wow. Well, currently I'm taking into (which is easy except for remember which consonant sounds are which category) and semantics, which has little to do with words. But a prof at Duke is impressive.
I think I took a couple of ling. classes, just to be in Julie's classes - she's a wonderful person. And it's interesting in its way . But that wasn't enough to convince me to major in it! What school do you attend?

Since you & I seem to be the only ones on, and if we're not disturbing anyone, I, too, will reminisce. My high school graduating class had <200 people. On my first day at college, at 8:00a.m., freshly scrubbed & excited, I walked into intro chemistry. There were >250 people in just that class. Overwhelmed does not begin to describe my state of mind for the first 2-3 months.

LOL! Oh empathetic hugs for you. At least my first class (ebio for majors, and I am not ebio major) of I believe 700 some odd people, was a freshman class. So I was older than all of them, plus I commute and there is a different attitude. But your poor thing, that would be so... intimidating.
Oh, I wanted nothing more than to scurry back home to the little Georgia town I came from and enroll in the local comm. college. I was miserable my entire freshman year. But once I got beyond that, into smaller classses and seminars, it became more manageable. They should warn kids from small towns! =8-)

hi all! had to drop out a few hrs ago to watch my White Sox play - what a game!! Grand Slam homer with 2 outs and a tied score, then score was tied up again - sox hit a homer in the bottom of the ninth for the win!!!!! Only have 67 words, but watching that was even MORE fun!!!!!
