the reason I asked is that my daughter once sprained her ankle and then got kinda ill feeling after a few days and when they did do xrays there was a crack and that was causing her nausea and tiredness.... take care of yourself...

also alternating between warm and cold soaks every other day... helps to break the blood clots (bruising) and increase blood flow. (used to play soccer. tons of sprained ankles)

sure peas are great. not as big as ice/ easier to spread around more of your ankle and round / less sharp edges to hurt like ice cubes and ice chips. then just refreeze... but don't cook them for Thanksgiving dinner... keep in freezer for additional "preplanned acrobatic tumbles in the living room that allow you to practive new yoga positions"
re 4/4 - could it be hiding to the re4/4 of other words?

"Bulimia: the quickest, easiest way to lose weight" :/ I'm guessing they'll go into an anti-feeding frenzy now, then rush home and panic-eat a whole pack of fun-size mars bars. Which will then be bought back up in a less than fun-size form

And told one of those stories which is almost an exact copy of the 'scary' ones told on sleepovers when you're about eight. "Once upon a time, in a school very like this one, a class of students very much like yourselves..." ending of course in some girl of the past dying of anorexia. Oh, cheers. Feeling much better now.

min - it's the same as being overly protective about sex ed. Kids already know about the stuff. It's true that a few will be exposed to the info for the first time but it will set some of the students straight about the negatives. They only hear about the benefits from their friends.
I still remember a movie I saw in 6th grade about smoking - an older man with the bottom part of his face gone due to cancer...it was pretty gruesome (and to this day I've never smoked anything...)...
I know that education is the best cure and the best preventative measure. There is always one or two kids who think the idea sounds like a great way to lose weight. I guess it's a no win situation and you try to do your best to teach kids how dangerous it is but you still have to have an eagle eye and watch out for the details and small changes. So scary.
it is bad - i'm 5'9" and weighted less than 90 #'s at one time - and when i finally wanted to eat - it was very difficult to keep anything down - yeck - sometimes the industry makes it to difficult to be a female - of course - i canned that career path

min - I went to a small Christian college. Religious people were complacent because they weren't challenged. At a state school, religious people have to take a stand for what they believe or they will get walked all over. That's all I'm saying. I wasn't upset by what you said. There are some wacko religious right people around here but they aren't nearly as powerful as the ones on the ends of the country.

On a serious note, it was seeing Miyavi say she'd had a class about slimming illnesses rather than the sex ed class (teacher wimped out, I guess?). So, is her school trying to show her that bulimia, anorexia etc., in all their forms, plus overeating illnesses, are NOT the way to go? If so, are they making sure that they don't talk about 'good' and 'bad' foods in their so-called 'nutrition' lessons? I ask this, as some of you may know, because schools got it VERY wrong 8-10 years' ago and it resulted in my own daughter becoming anorectic.

Message to those who've answered mine about schools meddling in so-called health care. If the teachers don't have the right knowledge they should NOT attempt to teach the subject. Yes, I know, I know! I have many friends who teach, who have been bullied into teaching subject in order to keep their jobs. That should be stopped! Sorry, but I feel very strongly about this. BTW, for anyone who wants to know, today is 23rd November, 2 years to the day since my Dad died in a nursing home, choked to death by nurses who didn't have enough training to know that in the latter stages of Alzheimer's Disease the swallow reflex goes and so any fluid administered by mouth goes straight to the lungs. SORRY!

Thanks folks, re my Dad. Maybe the staff did know and thought they were doing us a favour? They sure seemed very casual when they said he'd died of 'pneumonia related to fluid in the lungs'. I got there just after he died, I could see he had choked to death. Anyway, no need for me to say all that on here. It's a sad time for me and maybe I shouldn't be commenting.
I can certainly sympathize with anniversaries -- lost my mother some 30 years ago this month, as well as grandmother (about three weeks after mother). I was 18, can't believe it's been that long. Sorry Jacs for your loss, so sad.

harking back to 7th grade... coed sex ed - late 80's, teacher wasnt really allowed to state her own morals/ethics/viewpoints i guess, so we mostly watched movies, discussed in groups and our teacher seemed was just there to make sure we used the 'correct terms'. i was fortunate to have parents who were open bout such subjects, and i was fairly comfortable talking within my groups... so the teacher would put me in front of the class and ask all sorts of things, because she couldnt say much herself (she admitted it when i confronted her) teachers have a very tough job...
