We will probably shop for ours next weekend or the one after... I try to have everything arranged a week before the big day (which is early for me, December 21st). But we always get live trees & too much time in a warm dry house is not good for them...
We always go to georgia to visit my husband's folks for Christmas, so i know what you mean about enjoyment time before you leave...
We just have a little artificial tree this year since we are crammed into an apartment for the moment. Will start looking for a real house once I get a job. And then look out! Biggest tree I can find!
we were gonna get ours this weekend, but it just didn't work out that way, colts play tonight, so i don't think it will happen this evening either...but i want it soon so that we can enjoy it, i love that pine smell in the house..

We did go ahead & decorate last year's tree, which is planted in our back yard, with deer treats & pine cone bird feeders... very cute!

It's a little too far from Skip's work, otherwise we'd be looking there. We really want to stay in the Herndon/Reston area... but willing to go Ashburn/Leesburg.
put up most of my christmas decorations -- no tree at my house since its just me. but ihave a gorgeous wreath i made on the front door. i wrapped pine garland down both side of the handrails on my front steps. i also usually wrap white lights around the garland, and then irridescent white ribbon with gold trim around that. then each side gets a large matching bow at the bottom. (my lights decided not to work this year, so i only have the garland up at the moment.) then inside i have a large gold bow that goes at the base of the handrail for the stairs. a matching gold ribbon and gold beads wind their way up the handrail and a stocking for the cats hangs from that. :)

I like white lights... much prettier than the gawdy colored ones... some people around here just get entirely too carriedaway. But then the only lights I have are tripple candles in the window so what do I know?

im sure my poor parents hated all the colored lights...but they suffered for the love of their children. ;)
The only colored lights we have are some red ones to look like berries on the bushes out front, everything else is white at my house too. But then again, we (meaning I) go a little non-traditional with colors... I use a deep red (almost garnet) and pine green instead of bright red and green.
I'm lucky my kid likes crafty stuff... somebody had a bunch of lights up the weekend before Thanksgiving & she "UGH-ed" them as we drove by... nothing so scathing as being UGH-ed by a tweenie girl...

ok ,what I do is open another window, go to Google (www.google.com), go to Images, find the image I want, copy it.... then go back to My Profile in the other window, click on Edit (under the white box top right), then paste in the first search bar. you can also browse in the second search bar, but I cant' figure that out myself! : D If your icon is not accepted, it will say, not to worry, just go back and pick something else.

Hi babbler! This is how I have learned to capture image using microsoft: I right click on the image, which produces a list of options. Of these, I pick 'save this picture'. Magically, I find myself in the smarmily named 'My Pictures' where I give it a name and click 'save'. As for copywright issues, I ignore them.

Ricker - over on the right there is a "Friends of Babble" box. The last link is Babblers Anonymous. Click on that - then click on General, then on Daily Puzzle. Scroll down and there is a list of all the words in the puzzle by first 2 letters, letter count and point value. Many babblers copy and paste this list into a word doc or Excel and print it to keep track as you work the puzzle. Also, if you go "pro" (only $9.95 for a lifetime membership) you will have access to more detailed stats for your progress.
