Did I beat you to the first post?
Merry Christmas all xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Hi, everyone!!! Merry Christmas to you all!
JB -- I was about to say -- I have never kept my sources secret After all, we can't all be EB! ;D
GreyWoulf, did you make the crossover?
Merry Christmas, Debs!! (*HUG*)
h7/44
You are a very generous perso...um, wolf!, GW - thanks! Um - EB? EasternBlue?
EB -- EastenBlue, yes
oops -- how embarrassing i meant Eastern
I can't type real well at 1:00 in the morning either. So, I'm just waiting for the stats to generate (thanks for the clue, Debs!) before I go to mingle Babble dreams with visions of sugarplums.
only 53 today
Grey, that's amazing! Are you done ALREADY???!!!
Oh, I just hit the magic refresh button. That's much better now.
no-- you have to refresh to have the stats board show up sometimes
L7/28
Time to set up the baby's surprise -- will be back in a few :)
Have a GREAT Christmas Day, Grey - merry wishes to you and yours!
JB -- in case you are gone by the time I get back -- have a Wonderful day as well --- Holiday Blessings upon you and yours!! (*hug*)
{{Holiday Hugs}} backatcha! Going to bed, I've got 40 words left to go!
Holiday hugs for all who want them, and blessings to all :)
A mighty tighty today.
Hi sprite! I just finished setting up my daughter's new pup tent/playhouse so she will get to see it 1st thing upon waking up in the AM (((***HOLIDAY HUG***)))
That is so sweet, Woulf :)
I try....
In Holland, most people don't celebrate christmas with presents, because we have this very dutch holiday on december 5th called "Sinterklaas". It's a bit different then, I think. We have no presents today, but a nice christmas breakfast, time to sing together and be grateful for all we are given in our lives, and we make it a real family day.
Guess you do more than trying, dearheart. You are a more loving father than I ever had... more like the father of my own kids, actually, lol.
sprite -- your Xmas celebration sounds like an analog for our Thanksgiving on many levels --- and more like I wish ours was --- all the commercialism attendant to the holiday here depresses me at times. I mean -- why should gift giving be limited to a single day? (two if you include Birthdays)
Thanks for the compliment, sprite Kirsten says part of my success at fatherhood is because I am still just a big kid at heart myself ;D
My sentiments exactly. Of course the influence of America is huge here, and every year the christmas celebration becomes more commercial and more and more people are focussed on presents and enormous dinners and such. I am still fighting back ;) It is the time of the season... you know, it is Midwinter, all is turned inwards in nature, and it is in me too. I don't want exuberant celebrations. All I want is being silent inside, being grateful, feeding that deep dark place inside where the light will be born from again.
It takes a real adult to allow the child within to play still, for sure :) Just read something like that: "A mature person is nothing more than a child with more experience at life."
I have always used the line -- 'The trick to being a successful adult is knowing when to act like a child'
I like that one too!
I still need 18 more words and I start beginning to wonder who is so certain they are there ;)
I have 18 left as well -- though I don't see the h7 that Debs found :)
li 6/24 after arrest how you stand in a... very USA I think.
That gave me two more! Think skies.
thanks for that one corih -- did you get the li7 just before the 6?
Thanks sprite - got it now
And thanks to you both, that were another two. That's 40 now... 13 more, really??
All finished :) Time to put kettle on and see if anyone else awake yet.... I hope you all have a fantastic Christmas and that all your hopes and dreams come true in 2006 xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Same to you, Debs! *hugs* Thanks for reassuring me the words ARE in the grid ;)
h/7 ...is where angels are............. :)
Debs -- A Wonderful Xmas and Holiday Blessings on you and yours as well! ((*HUG*))
At least my favorite P word is in the grid today.
lol@sprite..
and which would that be? ;)
((((((((((((((((((((hugs to all)))))))))))))))))))))) Merry Christmas....... gone now..take care, be happy & smile.. Lifes too short xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Since 'puns' isn't there, that leaves only one possibility, right?
lol, I just wanted to see how you would answer ;D
Well, coming straight forward with it would be giving away too much, I think ;) I wonder... sometimes I drink so much tea I am told I probably have tea in stead of blood. Wouldn't that mean I have T..V....? Would be a lovely T8.
I have ha6/30 he6/30 li6/24 does anyone have the other 6?
I saw that one as well :)
GMTA ;) I don't have it yet, sorry. Have the same ones you have.
p6/21, a narrow flag, streamer
Thank you, bfdeele :)
That must be the only P I haven't found then :)
sprite -- it sounds like a writing instrument
That did it :D New word for me... I have justified the usefulness of my babble addiction for today :)
I gave up in justification weeks ago -- now I just ride the whirlwind :)
I love being addicted to this game and the community, so I don't mind :) Nobody hear minds either, they all are perfectly happy for me to enjoy myself.
Kirsten actively supports me, cos she loves hearing about the interesting threads in the log :)
That's one of those things I feel so grateful for... isn't it a blessing to have a relationship that is about actual support for what is important to either one?
Yes indeed! BTW -- I have 2 to go -- an S and the A
I need 3 more, S, H and F. We are close to finishing... good we still have paradoxion ;)
trade you an H for the A? ha4/5 ha4/5 ha4/5 ha4/8 ha 5/18 ha6/30 he4/6 he4/5 he5/18 he6/30 he7/44
You all have a Merry one. When you finish, could you please give me first letter stats, like how many A's, etc. I have 8 words to go and would like to get this finished so tomorrow is free time. thx
GreyWoulf The a sounds like something you cook in plural

GreyWoulf You're welcome

Okay, done... my last word was that missing H4/5, and no wonder... THAT is one of my least favorite words. Too much of that in the world! So... *Hugs to all of you* and be blessed.
sprite gets *~*~*~FIREWORKS!~*~*~*
sprite says something about the world - that was my first word!!!!
(((***SPECIAL HOLIDAY HUG***))) Blessings upon you now and always, sprite! See you tomorrow?
Thanks, mrP! :D My, I just love your icon, makes me smile every day. Frances: must be my blind spot, I am sure.
lol sprite... your welcome (((smile))
Yes, I'll be back tomorrow. Love and hugs, Woulf, enjoy the day with your family and please give us a full report of how the little one reacted to the playhouse! Thanks, all, for another great start of my day, and have a wonderful time!

That was it Sprite. May the Santa elves be kind to you. I'm done and can go to bed early. Thanks and thank you Grey Woulf. Have fun with your daughter .
However, I need to go to sleep now -- have to be perky for my daughter in the AM -- will try to get some pics of her reaction to the new tent/playhouse to share with you all Holiday BLessings and Cheer upon you all!! Happy Holiday to All. Time to get the dinner in the oven.
I am finished!! yeah....!
Merry Christmas everyone! I feel so blessed to share this time with you each and every night (more than you can ever know). I've had cancer all of the past year, and just went into remission 2 weeks ago. When the pain was too much I'd sit up and Babble to get my mind off of things. Now I'm officially addicted - like the lot of you :) Thank you for your help and for cheering me on. You were cheering for me in more ways than one. Bless you all and Merry Christmas!
Marolan, glad to know you are in remission. Have a merry one and happy new year. i think we all come here to keep our minds focused on something else.
i'm done too, i want more puzzle!!
any clue for the 4th LI 4/4?
Marolan Hope you are now able to enjoy your Christmas. We all have our reasons to babble. I usually quietly lurk, hooting with laughter at the chat. At my age it all helps to keep the grey matter ticking over!!!!! Have a good one ....... everyone.

You're welcome!
The first word that jumped out at me from today's grid was the 3-letter 'fa' word, meaning overweight. Is this Dr_God's warning not to eat too much Christmas pud?:-)
Feeling guilty Jera? lol!!!
Sorry!!!! I meant Jacula! oops....
I guess I need another cup of tea...
Yes! I'm done! :)
Nothing to feel guilty about yet, Sherry. It's only 11.21am here. Dinner isn't until 3pm. All I've had so far are 2 big cups of tea and 3 croissants.

You're missing the singular of your he7.

An L list would be most useful, I have only 3 of those...
Lol! Right! I'm gone! Have nice day or a nice nap (depending where you're based!)! See ya tomorrow!:)
I was off elsewhere for a while but am now here for about 10 mins if anyone needs any clues. The icon is our Xmas tree. Pity you can't see how pretty it looks.

Hi all, Merry Christmas and Happy Chanukah Would someone please put me out of my misery. I need 2 Li word to complete the puzzle. the first li4 and the last li5.

Wait, I have an li4/5. need to recheck the L lilst.

harpjane, have both of those, don't know which one I am missing.
So, peri, can you help me out with a few of the other Li words--the 6 & 7?

The last 3 Li- Italian currency, speak without front teeth, and the first one, I got by monkeytyping.
TA DA! I am done too. Anyone need any clues. Will be here for a little while longer.
Peri, I'm feeling lazy today, could I have clues for the pe 5 & 6 words?
Merry Christmas to all. Only 53 words today so can still play and finish in plenty of time for festivities.

pe6 - leaded instrument that is used to write but spelled differently.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND ALL GOOD THINGS IN THE COMING NEW YEAR.
Take whichever Scots word you have and try a different consonant -- it's another Scots word.
Merry Christmas to me (and you, of course) I finished the puzzle !!!
last two... Anymore hints for li 5 and li 7 Thanks Merry christmas
Li5 is plural of your li4/4

li7 is you walk a straight ---- and then add what you will have done later today at the table.
Thanks!!!
Done, and it isn't even 11:00 am here in the Midwest. So now I can go have some liquid refreshments. Bye all and may you all have a Merry Christmas.
Merry Christmas everyone
Merry Christmas and Happy Chanukah!

Merry Christmas!
Hi All -- Just popping in to follow in the steps of my fellow Babblers to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah, Merry Solstice, and overall HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!! May the Blessings of the season stay with you through the whole of the new year :) (((**Holiday Hugs for All***)))
Happy Holidays to all!
Hey ren & GW!
hey hey harp & wolfie....lazy day....
oops, I left someone out! hey, bigbird, narnia, rolin, blaze, pink, doxy, and all!
Hi harp & ren!! Great minds think alike, eh? :D
Hi to all the other Babblers as well! Narnia -- Was Santa good to you today?
me also too as well...hey all - still a little muzzy 8)
So. Does everyone but me have the SN word? I could use a clue....
So my Xmas gidt for Kristianna was a big hit! She loves the pup tent I bot her to use as a playhouse -- only bad side is she wants me to sit inside with her and my back just can't take the strain for more than a few mins :)
harp -- s+ ne4 (the tide one)
There you go, GW. Thanks. Two clues in one! I hadn't started the n's yet!
wow - must be muzzy too gift, not gidt got, not bot
that's rally ne** wolfie... little children always want to share - pup tent is a really good idea!
yw, harp
When you're daughter gets a little older, you can give her "crafty" type scissors. The ones that cut irregular patterns, not just a straight line. I don't have kids of my own so I am spoiling other people's kids. This year I gave them scissors....Even the 14-year old boys like them!
yup wolf pup - sounds like you're muzzy also too as well...
ren -- best part I got it at Target -- tent, sleeping bag, flashlight, compass, and inflatable chair for $20! Harp -- when she's older, sounds great
good shopping - great imagination - and the possibilities of kristianna's adventures!
Baby also got a bunch of books including 'Fox in Socks', 'Green Eggs and Ham', and 'Tikki Tikki Tembo' -- and I have already read them all to her! And her uncle Turk sent her a gift card for Borders! :D
badgers tomorrow? What's the connection, GW?
harp -- my daughter absoulutely loves the badgers flash animation over at ebaums world and since I am off from work tomorrow I thought I would give her something special :)
You mean like THIS badger? *refresh*
here's the link - http://www.ebaumsworld.com/fla sh/badgers.html there are a few variations out there as well such as this one for Xmas - http://www.ebaumsworld.com/f lash/santabadger.html And Kristianna's current favorite - http://www.albinoblacksheep. com/flash/bkenya.php
Exactly!!
Badgers are pretty cool. I've only seen one in my life. (Unless you count the UW football team!)
any clues for the last v? i have the one your blood runs through plus plural
i've never seen a badger
I've never actually seen a badger up close and personal -- only at the zoo at a distance or on TV
what a bride wears, miametro
ah, thank you :)
If they did WHAT to Norway?
This was a very pleasant grid for today -- short and not too tricky, thus allowing plenty of time to exchange holiday greetings with no real pressure to finish :)
harp -- I don't write 'em ;D
Anyone want/need anymore help? Almost time for me to get ready to go to the inlaws for holiday dinner -- though I would rather be sharing my day with my Babble friends :)
how about the 1st li 4
the inlaws aren't bad, per se -- it's just that I don't have as much in common with them
He may have been the first to truly discover North America -- Li** Ericson
First Li 4--first name of the Viking who sailed to Greenland
oh duh..... i thought about that....and then what happened????? i must havd zoned....thanks harp!!!!
You said you were muzzy, ren :)

Something SF most likely -- prob some Roger Zelazny -- I tend to read multiple books concurrently :)
Well it's my turn to take a shower and get dressed -- anyone need any last clues before I go?

The Viking clue helped via Google (Thanks). 3 more to go.
jb - i see that! - babbler's profile - she keeps it in her louie vuitton steamer trunk..tomorrow is badgers for greywolf's daughter kristianna
Thanks, ren! Now the kitties are tapping me on the shoulder (from the chair behind me) to politely remind me that they are much more interested in the empty state of their stomachs than my current contentment in all things Babble-onia...once more the "real" world intrudes, so I must go. Oh, and THANKS!!!! I'll check out Babbler's trunk, then see what I may find in the way of badgers.
jn - that's exactly what our cats do to tell us they have what we call a bowl hole.... how abso funny!
I'll have to use that on them, how cute!
Yay, it worked! (buddy icon, that is). Refresh!
jb - they seem to understand bowl hole lingo and talk to us about it!
I've given up on the last two (li5 and one elusive li4). But it's been my most successful puzzle to date so I'm quite pleased! Am off to bed now as it's nearly 10.45 in England. Happy Christmas one and all!
umm, merry christmas all! i've never seen larry the cable guy...

it costs a gazillion US dollars to have medical care and to die!!!!

\ok..i'm a little stumped -- i need the last li4/4, li6 and one of the sp5 ( have the ei one) any ideas?
li 4 = i talk w/ a slight li** li 6 = what the police put the perps to a crime in for idntification sp - yiddish - sp + 2nd vowel + **l (sick - last l)
pbr...both sp 5 are the same except for the ending consonant..
hi babs1!!!
hi ren...been quietly working away...I live in Texas too...What part are you in? Haven't ever gotten used to the vastness of the state...
originally from west texas and live outside of houston now..
how about you babs1?
renfield - thks for the clues...I still have one of the li4/4 left --it is one of the ones near the end of the li list -- (I have the li5 you gave me a clue to). I keep trying combinations and can't get it....
I'm in Austin...been here about 10 years...originally from California...still miss the weather and beauty of California! ;(
pbr - do you have the li -italian cirrency?
babs1 - i remember now that you were in austin. which part of ca? northern?
missing the first li 4/5 here...
er... i mean currency
renfield -- I do now -- thanks. I'm on holiday in UK -- quite a bit far away from Wisconsin! Jet lag isn't too bad today
li 4 - like li** erikson the viking (clue harp gave me earlier)
I grew up in Southern CA....went to UCLA and UCSB and then lived in the bay area. Austin is a fun city, but I still miss California!
are you visiting family pbr?
no, good friends - this is my first trip to England. Tomorrow or rather today is boxing day, and I guess we have more to celebrate.
fun pbr to be out of country for holidays? where are you in the UK...we got to Ireland for the first time this summer and loved it!
ca is beautiful - we call austin's hills and lake area g-d's country....
I am in the suburbs of London -- later in the week we will travel by 'tube' to the city.
Thanks, Ren...helping me to remember and appreciate...we live about 30 minutes west of the city...so nice because it's backed to wilderness and hiking, but long trips to get errands done, etc.
i would like to move to the austin or dallas/ ft worth area if i stay in tx - if not, it'll be long island ny.
why NY? are you planning on moving soon?
family in ny - no i can't move right now- my parent's are disabled and i can't leave them - and they will not move. 8)
yay! just finished...I kind of enjoy the short puzzles since their doable without spending hours! I'm amazed at how quick so many babblers are and how persistent as well!
ahh..well are you parents willing to move to Austin?
watching recording of Cold Play on Austin City Limits...haven't really llistend to them before...
i agree w/ you babs1 - most of the people are very quick and very smart - i can't keep my attention on anything for that long - so i go in and out of it my parents will not move anywhere!!!!
oh..I see. I guess you are where you are then! Ren..do you use any tools when working the puzzles?
have you ever been to a live austin city limits
no, haven't been to ACL, but I'm sure it would be fun. Last year my husband won tickets to see the rehearsal of Saturday Night Live..that was really great! Amazing what they manage to pull off each week!
most of the clues the others have posted and i have a list of words i use from the enable dictionary - i think some refer to a a2z web site and jera mentioned something about a word web site - i'll see if i can find it for you.
I have used the a2zwordfinder and morewords
Ren, are you celebrating Hanukah tonight?
Cold Play just did tribute to Johnny Cash and now are playing Ring of Fire...Did you see Walk the Line? I loved it!
channukah starts at sundown on 12/26/05 this year
oh...I thought it was tonight...I grew up Jewish and have moved a way a bit over the years..
no babs1 - i haven't been imside a movie theater since i use to go to midnight rocky horror - my husband doens't care for johnny cash so if i see it it will be on dvd or one of the movie channels.,,
ok - well slap my face - we plan on family tomorrow - put i see that my neighbors have their candle lit.... things get a little hectic around here..... one year i started pass over a few day early - looked at the wrong calendar...
It is confusing sometimes with the hoidays falling on different days in the conventional calendar! oh well, at least you get to celebrate!
i go to temple when i can.... since mez left the temple we have moved more away from our holidays....there's so much to do in the family business and it seems everyone wants a piece of us... we hibernate and turn off our telephones...
Is your husband a main rabbi for a congregation or works in some othe capacity? Reform, conservative..?
will you be doing anything? at least some latkes?
Well...I offered to make latkes for my daughter...unfortunately it's one of the few foods she's not crazy about...she's requested Haroses instead....
we were at a small conservative temple - he broke both of his legs in an accident - and we decided there was more to life than having our life reviewed by the world... there's still a little to much rebellion in me to have people tell me what to do....
Hi there -
hey griffs - hows your day? what receipe do you use babs1?
hi, griffums! Wow ren...I trust he reovered well!
It's been fine. Nice time with friends earlier, took a nap with Hunter. Decided to see whether the grid was doable - glad it's short today.
recipe? hmm...probably just a little of this and that...apples, nuts, raisins, wine...not sure if I feel like doing it though. Probably glance at an old Jewish cookbook for starters.
not completely - he had to have a tendon graft and he cannot walk very far.
it's short grif!!
wow ren! So sorry to hear that. was it a car accident? I was in a bad one a couple of years ago, and my body has never felt the same!
i like haroset anytime fo the year - i make enough to share -
Interesting comments about the temple life..I always wondered about the pressures of being a rabbi!
it was a freak accident at home. he was walking and tripped over some tree roots and layed in the back year for over 8 hours (until i came home)..
god, ren, that's so horrible. :((( I know two people who have taken falls from high places (both landed on their feet), and it's been devastating to their whole lives. I'm so sorry you both have gone through this.
ow!!!!!!!! What an ordeal! So sorry!
thanks grif....it made us rethink our lives... we do very well and are now really quite happy...mez doesnt drive - and now rides a bicycle to do his errands... he's writing a book.... and we laugh now - together.... 8) i work outside the home and he has teken on the house and all that goes w/ it....
smile - this is one of those good ending stories - i hate to do house work and love business - it you have ever seen benny and joon - i'm sam...mez is like joon when it comes to noise and confusion...the accident has effected his ability to deal w. the public.... so we have fun!!!
Ren..Sounds like you and mez have made a great adjustment! What kind of business is the family one? I hope you enjoy it!
we are very happy - sometime's we have to pinch ourselves to make sure it's all real!!!
thanks babs1 & grifs - that felt good!!!!
:)
ok - all i have left are green godstoppers and i don't like green gobstoppers - time to make a run to the 24/7 rx store 8)
any clue for the li/6?
police use li 6 so victims can identify perps
oh geez. thank you!
that's it - I'm done...
i need help with one of the last 2 li/4/4 i have the one that is like part of a camera. it's my last word. anyone?
duh, tried to type my clue in the word box lobstah, the 2nd syll rhymes with the 1st
the second syll? i don't know what that means. i don't think it's syllable, it's only 4 letters. i don't know what it would rhyme with. sorry.
The first syllable of the word is LI. The second syllable is nearly identical.
(it's the only other consonant you can connect it to)
thanks, got it. i appreciate your patience. i guess there are 2 syll. thanks again. happy holidays!
yw!
And with that I am outta here... back at the witching hour maybe!
Ok, I beg of you... Any help? on PV- I have 4/5-4/6 -4/8 and on the HE 4/5 4/5 4/8 5/18 6/30 4/6 4/5 5/18 6/30 7/44

Thank you...I have those I think I am missing an ha -4/5 I've got the really dislike someone...but the last one is evading me

I'm just stuck at 36 words.
Happy Holidays to any who are here tonight! Just checking in to see if any of my fellow Babblers need anything --- clues, a shoulder to cry on, someome to tell jokes to, whatever ;)
pa 4/6 ??
Corih, go back through the babble, there are some marvelous hints. Finished!
a route you might take?
Greywoulf, your hints from last night were great.
thanks tamara27, it was staring right at me
Thanks tamara :)
I love games with pen and paper and a friend told me about here addiction to babble. This was my first. *sniff* and they were gentle with me to boot.
Welcome to the fold, tamara --- it only gets better/worse from her (the addiction gets worse, the friendships get better ;D )
That is all I need, another game addiction. Well at least I am safe at home!

not too bad -- made mega hit with my daughter this AM -- she LOVES the pup tent that Santa brought her this year -- she moved her Winnie the Pooh futon couch inside first thing! :D
:D sounds good :D
Grey... sorry, had to get the FIL a glass of whine... oh, I mean wine
She also loved all the books she got! Fox in Socks Green Eggs & Ham Tikki Tikki Tembo Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Are You my Mother? She did pretty darn good for my lack of funds this year :)

hey grey can you help me with one sp? i have the one thats the whole sp...
mrp -- no prob Smeltz!!!!! *dashes over to give a BIG Holiday Hug* - we've been missing you!! and on that note I will be back in a few -- Kirsten is exhausted and I need to rub her back so she can get to sleep :)
hursh?...GW...
Ruby -- change the last consonant
things have been crazy. tonight is the only time I'll be on until the new year starts.
ty
wow, i can't believe i got that sn on the first guess!
done. glad they did a short one for christmas. :)
did you finish smeltz?
im still missing a ne4/5.....grrrrrr
ne 4/5 is a word to do with tides. but also, just change the final consonant of the ne 4/4
I'm back -- Ruby - ne4/5 is a type of tide -- drop the s of the sn5 Smeltz -- is everything alright?
hursh...didn't really even get started. I just stopped in to say hello. The last time I did GW was gone...this time he left when I got here...I'm seeing a trend.
well i'm glad you stopped in, i have missed you!
oh yeah, merry Christmas
and a very merry christmas to you!
ty ty ty 47 words
Smeltz -- I'm here now, what's up?
can someone tell me what corih's pic is?
it was a good weekend. I'm not a big fan of gifts but my wifey is... I have to work on that.
49......
i don't KNOW, but it looks like a bit of a page from a dictionary to me
GW - How's your wife doing?
CORIH - what's your icon?
Smeltz -- she's doing pretty good -- the baby is due to be delivered by scheduled c-section on Feb 3rd --- so right now she is very tired all the time and unfortunately has some sciatica going on, but otherwise is healthy and happy :)
grey thats so wonderful.....a new baby!
ok grey how about the uv?
GW - what does your daughter think about being a big sister?
Thanks Ruby -- it's a boy and we are naming him Sebastian
uv4 - add two vowels
uv4/8 -- a part of the eye ends in two vowels
Grey! Smeltz! Look what I found! (icon) Got started early for tomorrow's theme. {{{{HUGS}}}}}
thats a great name....very strong.....i have a son, although hes older....names noah, another strong name
Smeltz -- she doesn't comprehend what being a big sister means -- she's excited becasue we are, but she has no clue that she will have to share us from now on -- after all she is only 2 and 4 months :)
What's tomorrow's theme?
Congrats, GW, on the anticipated arrival! I work with OB/GYN doctors, so I kinda know what you're going through from a medical perspective (kinda being the operative word)
Smeltz -- tomorrows theme is the only non seasonal theme until Babbler returns -- Badgers
Badgers
The theme is for my daughter cos she loves the Badgers flash animation at Ebaums world :)
I finished the grid earlier today, so just stopped in before beddybye...I'm off ALL WEEK!
Lucky you, JB -- I have tomorrow off and then I will be working straight through new years -- 6 days in a row! :(
Yuck, GW, not a good way to start 2006, huh?
So Smeltz -- are things crazy due to holidays, or something worse?
How about white tigers? Last year my mom thought she had gotten me the best gift of the 27 years of my life so far. she had gotten me a plastic mold of two white tigers heads. unfortunately, I have never...ever liked or even mentioned white tigers. I do like penguins but...not the same. has anyone else ever gotten a gift and have no idea why they got it?
JB = there are many worse ways to start out the new year
hello.... could anybody help me w/ pe 5/12... the second one
GW - I work with middle school kids and i don't usually stop from the end of october until christmas break starts. i am in charge of a ski trip this tuesday and wednesday and my wife is in a wedding 10 hours away on new years eve so we are leaving right when we get back from the ski trip. I need a break
moonbug -- male reproductive organ
well, i once got a pair of socks from my boyfriend :D
thanks GreyWoulf
Smeltz, take a deep breath....in......out. There. What helps me in really stressful times is to think of the time when [enter stressful event here] will be over, and what I can do to get me to that point as evenly as possible.
Smeltz -- Oh wow! that is a hectic schedule -- I wish I could truly do something to help you out -- how many are going on the ski trip and where? moonbug - yw
oh im tired......im missing 2.....one is an li and the other is p something ....i lost track on my list
well, I am taking 24 middle school students but the total trip I'm in charge of is 176 middle schoolers!
Hey RubyBlues - deep breath, in, out, you know! What do you need?
Smeltz - have you done the in charge thing before for this trip?
thanks jb...in and out....i need an li and a pe one is 4 letter and one is a 5 letter i think the pe is the 4
Smeltz, I'm glad I ran into you on the log tonight. May I suggest a really good pair of earmuffs (that can disguise a good set of earplugs) and a very large sippy cup that can disguise a good drink?
nope pe is the 5
i was in charge last year but I only had 5 of my students. I have to run the show and hang out with my kids (students) too.
Ruby -- pe5/12 - plural of the pe4/5 (pe + opp of out) pe5/12 - male reproductive organ
Ruby, there are 3 pe4's one you burn in a fireplace instead of wood or coal; one you write with (plural); and one is like pain, only with one differing vowel. Helps?
Ok (wow, GW, you're fast!) Ruby 7 li4's, what do you have so far?
Smeltz -- take heart from the fact that you have done this successfully before --- that gives you a leg up on someone who hasn't --- now, next question -- how well do you like the kids you will have to spend time with?
i needed an s ty ty ty
their good kids. i have a tendency to draw the most obnoxious kids...24 of them...
Smeltz, (and GW, for your week), just remember 4 words: This Too Shall Pass
Ruby -- the li's breakdown to li4/7 li4/4 x4 li4/5 x2 which one are you missing?
so far JB I have straight, it. money, erickson dude, camera, needing a loan and speech impediment
don't get me wrong...this is my job, i wouldn't ask for anything else...it may be hard and strenuous but i love it.
am i missing one?
Smeltz --- We all need to vent when under stress, even self induced stress--- Especially self induced stress-- that's why I am here for you whenever you need me :)
ruby, how about "in li++ of", like replacing one thing with another? (ends in 2 vowels)
ty ty ty......i finally finished....my day is complete....that was exactly the word i needed
And Smeltz -- you are a braver man than I -- I don't think I would be able to do your job --- I stress too easily when other people are involved :)
Smeltzi, it's always the "helping people" jobs that are the most stressful (and not very well rewarded monetarily wise), but often those types of jobs are the most satisfying. (cue the music from "It's a Wonderful Life)
YAY!!!!!! RubyBlues! Whoo hoo!
that is so true i am a social worker on a psyche unit....some days its exhausting but always fufilling
wooohoooo ty ty ty grey and jb
(*Happy Hug of Finishing for Ruby*)
Ruby, I hear you - my husband is a psych resident in his last year of training (unless he gets a fellowship). It's mentally and emotionally exhausting for him at times.
the worse part is that there are so few services for these folks....cool for your hubby.....many of my best friends are psychiatrists and thanks for the hug grey

Oh darn -- I still have to go icon shopping for my own theme day!! Hi Blaze and Harpjane!!
grey... it is 4.50pm 26th Dec... boxing day holiday...
grey, can you give me a http for a good icon place please?
What is the significance of Boxing Day? We don't have it here in the US --- I have always been told that it is the day everything gets put away As for icon shopping I just use Google images :)
GW, this is JoJo, not doing well tonite. Had some problems going out to our sons, but still alive.
I seem to recall that it is an English or British tradition... any one know the real story ??
Boxing day is the day that the cricket is on TV all day... (and the presents are put away)
JoJo hope all is well.... MRP I use google images...
There seems to be two theories on the origin of Boxing Day and why it is celebrated. The first is that centuries ago, on the day after Christmas, members of the merchant class would give boxes containing food and fruit, clothing, and/or money to trades people and servants. The gifts were an expression of gratitude much like when people receive bonuses, from their employer, for a job well done, today. These gifts, given in boxes, gave the holiday it's name, "Boxing Day". The second thought is that Boxing Day comes from the tradition of opening the alms boxes placed in churches over the Christmas season. The contents thereof which were distributed amongst the poor, by the clergy, the day after Christmas.
There --- it helps when you know what image you are hoping to find ;) narrows the search considerably :D
Today, Boxing Day is spent with family and friends with lots of food and sharing of friendship and love. Government buildings and small businesses are closed but the malls are open and filled with people exchanging gifts or buying reduced priced Christmas gifts, cards, and decorations. To keep the tradition of Boxing Day alive, many businesses, organizations, and families donate their time, services, and money to aid Food Banks and provide gifts for the poor, or they may choose to help an individual family that is in need.
Blaze: Thx for caring. We are fine, just a lot of jittery moments. Things are good....
MRP you are a font of knowledge... I do believe that is the history of Boxing day...
Thanks mrp! JoJo -- happy to hear that you are OK (*Hug*) -- sounds like you could use one :)
