Hello Peri

12:02 am

very cute, GW!

12:03 am

this is going to be a really tight one I think Merry Christmas Brandy Jack... Thank you for posting the stats

12:03 am

Thanks harp ;) Happy holidays, Brandyjack!!

12:03 am

Hi, Blaze !

12:04 am

another small puzzle. Rats, was hoping for a bigger one today.

12:05 am

Everyone is quite welcome. I want a big puzzle. Not these little dinky things we've been getting...

12:05 am

peri -- they can't always be big'uns, but they are always fun at least :D

12:05 am

brandyjack -- what is your definition of big?

12:06 am

hey, I LIKE the little ones. They're the only ones I can usually finish.

12:06 am

Be careful what you wish for, Brandyjack!

12:06 am

200-250 words is a nice size. No need for a gargantuan puzzle......

12:06 am

LOL, Darleen :)

12:07 am

bj... love your icon :-) Are you a Farscape fan then?

12:07 am

Why, I've still got two weeks off.......

12:07 am

Just finished a marathon watching all 88 episodes plus Peacekeeper wars.....

12:08 am

Brandy -- I agree with you on size -- for a min I thought you might have been seeking another monster

12:08 am

Ah, a man after my own heart. I HATED what they did with the PK wars though. D'Argo IS NOT DEAD! so there.

12:11 am

I think with the planet sucked into that black hole, the D'argo is very definitely done.... Oh well we still get to watch Browder and Black in SG-1 next season. And Claudia is still in her black leathers.....

12:12 am

um, who said D'Argo was still on the planet? eh? And yes, BB is now permanently on SG1 but Claudia only had a handful of eps. She was great though and I hope they bring her back. Totally different from Aeryn.

12:13 am

Claudia joins the permanent cast of SG-1 for season 10.

12:13 am

Did I miss something? They bid her adieu a couple of eps before the holiday break. I was under the impression she would not be back.

12:15 am

ack 23 and i think im stuck darleen, its amazing u found that h7 so early lol the closest i got is a h6

12:16 am

mica, it's related to the h6 ... past tense it.

12:16 am

brandyjack, Thank you so much for the list in the log and the lists in Babbler Anonymous. I really appreciate your efforts, every day.

12:16 am

lol my h6 is already past tensed! :P i got the ho6/24

12:17 am

Last words of the episode was that they detected a worm hole back to somewhere and that she may still be alive. Even more important was the news on a Farscape site that she was standing in for Amanda Tapping during maternity leave for the first part of Season 9 and would in fact be returning for Season 10 full time.

12:17 am

ah. silly me... I haven't done all the h's yet. the h7 is related to the h6/27. It just jumped out at me.

12:18 am

Well brandy that's just cool! I really enjoyed watching SG1 with her on it. I gave it up when she left so I guess I'll set my dvr on stun. I mean, record.

12:19 am

ehehe its alright darleen

12:19 am

easy for you to say Mica. I really should go to bed.

12:21 am

sorry darleen :) but its just 50+ words today go to bed and continue tomorrow :)

12:22 am

I'm going ... I'm going.. Just as soon as I find the ep...

12:23 am

found it. Nite all! good hunting.

12:23 am

shades of beeblebrox eh?

12:24 am

Thanks for that, brandyjack :)

12:26 am

drat, ghoti (pronounced fish) isn't a legal word.

12:26 am

ROFL, Brandyjack

12:28 am

Oh well, ti4/4 is legal. I'm happy......

12:29 am

lol... always get that first time!

12:29 am

You KNOW I tried it too, brandy! Only I knew I'd seen it somewhere, but couldn't remember where, or why, or how to "pronounce" it!

12:29 am

and so is ti6/18 ;)

12:30 am

true, but I'm greedy. I DO have two hands.....

12:30 am

look at us badgers!!!

12:31 am

12:32 am

12:33 am

12:37 am

Have two of the h6 words. May I please have a clue for the h6 that leads to the h7. Or is it too early to ask for clues?

12:38 am

OK, I have a joke What is EFTPOS ?

12:39 am

Is Tracyo or Funkylady on here tonight?

12:41 am

12:41 am

The h/6 leading to the h/7 is a compound word. Think rodeos.

12:41 am

12:47 am

I try very hard to keep the jokes frighteningly clean!!

12:48 am

12:53 am

Holiday hugs and/or greetings to all *special hug for Woulf* Another mighty tighty... the babble gods think we should be doing other things beside babbling on Christmas :)

12:54 am

Welcome sprite! (*HUG*)

12:55 am

Should have been here earlier, but I slept in :D I see you are almost finished - I'll try and catch up, but the odds are you will be gone long before I get to where you are now. How did the little one like the playhouse?

12:56 am

Hallo all

12:57 am

Hi there Griffs! *hug*

12:57 am

hi griff :D

12:57 am

hey sprite, hey mica - haven't seen you in a while

12:57 am

Absolutely loved it, sprite! Only prob with it is that she wants me in there with her and it is on her scale not mine so my back started to bother me from hunching over :)

12:58 am

Hi Griff! (*Hug*)

12:58 am

hi gw!

12:58 am

yeah griff :D i got a holiday job and couldnt get online :)

12:58 am

You'll need to play with her lying down and peeping in, I think ;) Great that your surprise worked out!

1:00 am

We'll work it out -- she loved all the books she got as well -- She had me read them all to her as she unwrapped them :D

1:01 am

hello!

1:01 am

OOoohhh, she is adorable :) That's a great gift, the love for reading books.

1:02 am

Hi again, moonbug! How's your hubby?

1:02 am

I have to make a formal protest. Babble accepts words like hehe and haha. But not, TODAY, hoho???

1:03 am

he's alright... was complaining about the food, other than that ok :d

1:04 am

sprite --- we already know that the enable dictionary is askew -- ti4 and ti6 are accepted, but it never accepts the cl4 which is not present today?

1:05 am

Glad to hear it, moonbug -- it's always rough to be separated during holidays (*hug*)

1:05 am

And not oh-oh and not ohos(!) either

1:05 am

This dictionary is positively unfair. It won't take MY Ti6.

1:06 am

yeah.. but it could always be worse...

1:06 am

that sounds like a personal problem sprite...

1:07 am

Sounds like a vendetta to me.

1:07 am

Very true, moonbug -- BTW, thank him for his service for me next time you talk to him :)

1:07 am

Oh great, now suddenly the Tomato Vendetta song has started rolling in my head...

1:08 am

LOL - always glad to make people sing ;) I guess the Ti6 Woulf mentioned doesn't mean 'having Ti4'?

1:09 am

thank you very much, i will

1:09 am

It's more of a, um, diminutive

1:10 am

Doesn't ti4 mean birds?

1:11 am

Among other things yes

1:11 am

I found another Ti6, like a needle one could insert into a Ti3 (not in mine!), but it won't take.

1:11 am

Hmph, kind of scary G's up there in the right corner

1:12 am

any clue for go5/16? my last word

1:12 am

I guess that babble is too prudish for ti4 and ass. Funny, it has no qualms about racial and ethnic slurs.

1:12 am

oops found it

1:13 am

Thanks Griffs :D

1:13 am

My sentiment exactly, mab! More love and less slurrs, that's what's needed :)

1:14 am

Now that song from Chorus Line is going through my head.

HELLO!

1:14 am

I'll drink to that!!

1:15 am

Hi Sam! Happy Christmas and Boxing Day.

1:15 am

Howdi, Sam! Season hugs and wishes to you.

1:16 am

Hi sam!! How was Christmas?

thanks mab!

1:16 am

I always wondered... where does that word 'Boxing day" come from?

1:17 am

Oh wait. You're Jewish, aren't you? Happy Chanukkah!

1:17 am

Isn't it that you box up the leavings of the feast and donate it to those in need?

1:18 am

Ah, that would be a nice explanation? Somehow I have another association with boxing.

EXCELLENT! but chanuka isn't over for another 7 days which means we get presents for 7 more days running so far I have a swingball chocolate music and a notepad.

1:19 am

Errr... that ? should have been a ! of course. Not that they are anywhere near eachother on my keyboard, but hey, it's early morning.

sprite-I thought you knew the boxing day thing!

1:21 am

morning all. Happy Chanukah Sam.

1:21 am

mrp and I were discussing Boxing Day before the flip -- here's what she said: There seems to be two theories on the origin of Boxing Day and why it is celebrated. The first is that centuries ago, on the day after Christmas, members of the merchant class would give boxes containing food and fruit, clothing, and/or money to trades people and servants. The gifts were an expression of gratitude much like when people receive bonuses, from their employer, for a job well done, today. These gifts, given in boxes, gave the holiday it's name, "Boxing Day". The second thought is that Boxing Day comes from the tradition of opening the alms boxes placed in churches over the Christmas season. The contents thereof which were distributed amongst the poor, by the clergy, the day after Christmas.

1:21 am

Hi jaydee! Why would that be, Sam?

happy chanuka jaydee!.... you are jewish right???

1:22 am

cont'd Today, Boxing Day is spent with family and friends with lots of food and sharing of friendship and love. Government buildings and small businesses are closed but the malls are open and filled with people exchanging gifts or buying reduced priced Christmas gifts, cards, and decorations. To keep the tradition of Boxing Day alive, many businesses, organizations, and families donate their time, services, and money to aid Food Banks and provide gifts for the poor, or they may choose to help an individual family that is in need.

1:23 am

Thanks Woulf! Always wondered about that. It's a nice word, now I understand a bit of the origin.

1:23 am

ahhh... very informative GreyWoulf!

I dont know just thought... I guess.

1:23 am

Thank mrp -- I didn't know either :) sorry about eating log space everyone

1:24 am

Holland has no Boxing Day then - all shops are closed on 2nd Christmas Day.

1:26 am

It is also known these days as the day of great discounts on more stuff that one doesn't necessarily need. Places that have shopping on the day after xmas.

1:29 am

In the U.S. the day after Christmas is the biggest shopping day -- bigger even than the day after our Thanksgiving.

1:29 am

I am back to try and finish the last 14 words... Merry and Happy to all....

BYE EVERYONE!

1:30 am

It's revolting. Just my opinion.

1:30 am

Bye sam!

1:30 am

Morning Blaze.

1:30 am

Bye Sam!

1:31 am

Hi Blaze... I need 24 more and I can't find the biggies for the life of me.

1:31 am

Mab there is a website devoted to living simply and planning NOT to spend on several random days during the year... It is quite unique I think..

1:31 am

mab -- all the commercialism attached to the holidays is very depressing at times

1:32 am

Do you remember the name of the site Blaze?

1:33 am

I'm done!!

1:33 am

It contradicts most things this time of year stands for, I think.

1:33 am

mab frugalliving.about.com and/or www.thefrugallife.com/

1:34 am

Congrats, Woulf!

1:34 am

GW you are not done... I do not have my champagne yet...... ((((GW))))

1:35 am

Thank you, Blaze. I'll be interested in looking.

1:35 am

woo woo woulf

1:35 am

Well done, GW.

1:35 am

I wish I could stay and chat some more, but I need to get some sleep Holiday Blessings upon one and all And as always (*HUGS for one and all*) (*extra for sprite*) TTFN

1:36 am

You are a great person GW lots of hugs and Love to you and your family.....(())

1:37 am

I hope you feel well very soon. Rest is essential, GW. Hope you can get some.

1:37 am

*big hug for Woulf*

1:38 am

Is todays puzzle difficult , or am I just not seeing?

1:38 am

Jaydee it is a very tight and a little odd on the words...

1:39 am

I am right with you, jaydee, I am hitting walls too.

1:40 am

I cant find anything!but won't give up!!!! Is there a clue for the 7?

1:40 am

the 7 think rodeo compound word

1:41 am

I even tried Hotpeed.

1:41 am

okay so i *wasn't* the only one

1:42 am

LOL

1:43 am

thanks Blaze, but im still blank!

1:43 am

it is across the top

1:44 am

...and begins with something of the porcine persuasion

1:44 am

Yeah, got it! Thanks Blaze! Jaydee, last part think of what you can do with a rope.

1:45 am

Sprite , rope. Hang myself???

1:46 am

Don't even think about it ;P More like what you would be if someone used the rope on you.

1:49 am

1:50 am

1:51 am

Hey, I got that one! It's a stole, Blaze.

1:51 am

Jaydee, people can be SO inconsiderate ;)

1:52 am

I should have a recorded message"Please call back im Babbling"

1:53 am

You don't have that yet??

1:53 am

There is an expression 'hodge podge,' but no dice here on the hodge.

1:54 am

No, sometimes I just dont answer the phone!

1:55 am

I am really terrible with answering the phone. I look who it is first, and then decide whether I am in the mood for that person or not. Usually not.

1:55 am

Okay, I'm done...

1:56 am

I'm all but phobic about the phone. And that ringing! I can't bear it.

1:56 am

If I am busy I will let the answer machine get it and call back when I can talk freely... I prefer email for some of my business like calls.

1:56 am

WTG Griffs! I am still hitting walls. Still need 3 more 6's, can you imagine?

1:56 am

Oh you lucky dog you.... I am still in search of the ti 4/24

2:12 am

Miy its 10 in the morning here. Miy do you guys still eat smoked kippers for breakfast. One of my favorites when I went to UK. I found a quote for you that I thought would be inspiring. I am not sure who said, "Obedient women never made history." Is that a condescending thing to say? Because I am sure obedient men never made history as well.

10:12 am

Marc, I dont' think it's condescending. I think it's a great reminder for women to go ahead and misbehave!

10:12 am

well as Marc can attest..there are Whole Foods store and then there's the landmark store...totally different species! dunno about menu, ren....i'm still stuck on the lots of latkes idea...

10:12 am

miy...happy chrismukkah

Yes, but the not like the whole foods in Austin. It is magnifiscent. Also, the one in Columbus circle in NY is almost as good.

10:13 am

Thanks, Darleen, I am going to speak to a group of women in January and would like to fit the quote in somehow.

10:21 am

Would someone help me with ho 6/24 so I can have the satisfaction of finishing without going to a2z?

10:22 am

ho 6/24 = male pig + thing that men wear around their neck w/ a suit & shirt

10:24 am

renfield, that's 6/27 :)

10:24 am

and some jelly do-nuts!!!

10:24 am

Renfield-great clue thanks for both

10:27 am

ok - like i said - who took my 'pooter' glasses??? and i really am good at math just a little hubgry and deslex.... ho 6/24 = 3 letter word for extra warm - then the first 3 letters for a ***dy bear or a ***dy boy...

10:27 am

Oops, I need ho 6/30 not 6/24. Brain still not quite awake this morning.

10:29 am

ok - is this a test or way to get my mind off of latkes??? ho 6/30 = 3 letter word for extra warm + woof woof who let the ***s out pet

10:30 am

Thanks, renfield. How did I miss that one!

10:30 am

Babs Thank you for clue, still havent found it googled vestment ,and of course got sidetracked , i will try again

10:31 am

10:34 am

yvo...have to google the whole phrase or look in the reverse dictionary ...

10:35 am

like i need to go to the store - i shall return to fini 8)

Feel much better had breakfast. Babs, I am speaking on Renegotiating with Integrity basically how to behave when you break a promise or someone breaks a promise to you.

10:36 am

marc...sounds like we all could use that talk..maybe you wanna run for President?

No, I don't want to run for President but wouldn't mind if we could get a new one soon. I hate to say it but Texas has not done us well.

I have to go now I will check in from time to time.

10:38 am

seems like not much match between integrity and politics, but there are a few who seem to know the word!

10:41 am

wow...got sidetracked by reading wonderful story of a child who had been given up to an institution due to mitochondrial defect..had up to 50 seizures a day...now doing great with some nutrient intervention! makes what I do worth it! sorry to digress from the board talk..just touched by this story!

11:17 am

11:21 am

Does anyone have a clue for the ot6/18 that does not involve painful ear or hurting my ears? My head is hurting enough without that.... It has to be obvious. It took me an hour to get the ho5.... Had no trouble with the ti4/4 and ti6/18.....

11:21 am

Merry Christmas CathB : )

11:23 am

11:24 am

Babs, cold but clear here. Just about to polish off the last of yesterdya's turkey : D

11:24 am

11:26 am

Merry Xmas Anj, Babbler, CathB.....

11:26 am

Hi Babbler .Hi Brandyjack

11:27 am

Merry Christmas, Brandyjack. Did you have a good one? What's the weather like round your way? did it snow? : )

11:29 am

We had about a foot of snow a week or so ago and the temp has been climbing steadily. Still have 3-4 inches after the rain has beaten it down. Temp hovering around freezing and alternately raining and snowing. Snowflakes on Saturday the size and wait of a robin's egg. Wet ones too. No fun getting splatted by them...

11:29 am

WEIGHT of a robin's egg.

11:30 am

Greetings Babblers! I hope everyone had a peaceful and joyous 25th. Here in Nova Scotia we had a nice white Christmas, not too cold but snowy. Santa was generous as usual and we had lots to eat. I am very thankful!

11:30 am

Season's greetings....I need help with the go 5/16, any clues?

11:31 am

wow, BJ! we don't get snow like that in the UK. At least, not in England. (don't know about Scotland).

11:32 am

Merry Christmas Swimmy, Mubner : ) We got snow forecast for tomorrow and as usual the country is heading towards panic stations : /

11:32 am

season's greetings, Mubner go5/16: go* (deity) + Extra Terrestrial

11:32 am

Well, Frankensteins visage was simply gh***ly to behold and Casper was a friendly sort.... But then, you want the go5 which is totally unrelated. oih well. back to sleep for me...

11:33 am

Merry Christmas, Swimmy! :D

11:33 am

Christmas eve it looked like a picture post card with the falling snow. I took some pix and will post them over at the Babblers Anon board...

11:33 am

That wasn't snow, just a nuisance. Swmbo knows what snow is.... And she is welcome to it......

11:34 am

Hi guys! :)

11:34 am

oooh, talking of that, Swimmy, I was wondering if I could ask your advice about archiving our themes every few months over there. May I do that? If so, how do I do it?

11:35 am

Babbler, thanks, got it...Santa didn't bring me new eyeglasses, dang it, and I needed them...

11:35 am

Hi Lola!! ((xx)) :D Did you have a good one yesterday?

11:35 am

Hey babe (((xx))) : D How was Casablancl?? lol

11:36 am

Hi babs! ((x)) Not too bad thanks, how'd yours go?

11:36 am

Remember when I was a kid, we'd get a foot of the stuff, get the driveway shoveled and then we'd get another foot. The snow banks along the road would be triple stepped. I could stand on the top of them and look down on the bus top. Haven't had snow like that here in 25 years. We rarley get more than 10 inches in a single blast with a month or so between them. And in fact the ground may be green between 10 inch dumps.

11:37 am

Hey babe! (((xxx))) It was quite good actually! :)

11:37 am

.... sounds like global warming, BJ. : /

11:38 am

Different huh? Uh-oh...food is served - BBL : D

11:38 am

Lola, we had a good day too. My little niece started crawling!!!!! :D:D:D

11:38 am

Swmbo's area on the other hand can get a yard of the stuff in a nasty blow, but usually gets a half yard frequently. Lovely on one hand, but hard on the back. If I thought I could get a job out there that pays what I get now, I'd probably move out there.

11:38 am

see you tomorrow Anj! : D

11:38 am

Oh babs, that's wonderful! :)

11:39 am

Cheers babe, see you later :) xxx

11:40 am

I took a pic of her of course, Lo! She was trying to crawl again today, and you could see her little body shaking with all the effort. awwwwwww!! :D

11:40 am

BJ, so where are you and where's Swimmy?

11:41 am

Awww, babs, that is so sweet! What a great christmas gift to you all :)

11:42 am

exactly right, Lola. Best present EVER!! :D How did your little'un enjoy yesterday? ooh! guess what? half price sale coming up in Monsoon! Those ruby slippers......!! Might get a pair for my other niece.... :D

11:43 am

Arghhh, I just somehow lost a long post. Babbler, I am not sure what you mean by archiving themes, but please feel free to post whatever you would like on the BA message board. The only activity that I would ever ban/remove would be abusive behavior. I would like Babblers to express themselves in any way that they think is fun, enlightening or amusing. :)

11:43 am

I'm in southern Ontario, swimmy's in Nova Scotia on the far east coast of Canada. Lot of snow there. Not sure why, but a lot of storms come up the eastern seaboard from southern US, and a lot of the mid-west storms seem to brush past us here in Ontario just south of the Great Lakes and then beat the tar out of the New England states and the Maritime Provinces.

11:44 am

Babbler, I am on Cape Breton Island (aka God's Country) , Nova Scotia, Canada

11:44 am

Thanks Swimmy. If you look in my 'handbag', you'll see a big long list of themes that go back a couple of months. As it's getting so long, I thought I'd save them for posterity in BabAnon. I'm not sure how to start a new thread or whatever it's called though..... : /

11:45 am

babs, she had a wonderful day. We kept it very low key but she had such fun anyway :) Half price sale at monsoon?! *lola heads for door...*

11:45 am

Hi folks ! Kids are playing with their new toys so I actually have time to Babble!! Hope everyone had a great Christmas :)

11:46 am

Hi bugzy! :)

11:46 am

ahaaa! I wonder if the Great Lakes have an impact on the weather? Maybe Swimmy gets some of Greenland's jolly weather too?

11:46 am

Hi Bugzy!! : )

11:47 am

BrandyJack - we got that wet sloppy snow yesterday too - tough to get around in!! Hi Lola :)

11:47 am

Tell me mpre about the themes. Who sets them? Are they the result of conversations in here? I haven't had time for this chat board for a long time, although I do still occasionally play babble...

11:47 am

and Hi Babbler :)

11:47 am

Swimmy, why is it called God's Country? And is that the place U2 were singing about in their Joshua Tree album?

11:48 am

it is called God's Country because it is the most beautiful place on earth :)

11:51 am

Swimmy - well I'm the Theme Queen (!!), or President if you like, and everybody has a go at picking themes. I do the secretarial type thing and keep a log in my handbag. Today, it's Badgers, at Grey Woulf's daughter's request.

11:51 am

Wow, Swimmy, can't wait to see your pics! I've always wanted to visit Canada, but I haven't made it happen...... .yet.... : )

11:52 am

Lola, the Next sale starts tomorrow..... at 5am! My sister joked I'm up at that time, shall we go?? LOL! :D

11:53 am

Hi all :)

11:53 am

Er, 5am? No thanks! LOL! :D

11:54 am

Hi yoink! :)

11:54 am

Babbler, I just opened a new topic for you, called Themes, in the Other Interests Forum. BUT you should feel free to open your own topics, etc. whenever you like. Play around on the site. If you happen to 'make' something you don't like, let me know and I can remove it. You do have the option of editing you own posts too. From time to time, I will go around the site and 'tidy up' by removing old threads, etc. if there is anything anyone wants to keep indefinitely, let me know. I will not remove recipes or other such thinsg though...

11:54 am

Yoink!! (((xx))) :D did you have a good day yesterday?

11:54 am

Hi Yoink :)

11:55 am

Hi Lolaand Bugzy! Babs (((xxx))) Yes it was really nice thanks, how was your day?

11:56 am

Thanks Swimmy!! I thought I'd archive up to the end of this month to begin with. Shall we keep them indefinitely? Might be nice to, but I suppose we can see how it goes. : D

11:57 am

Really nice, too, Yoink. My little niece started crawling!! awwwwww! :D

12:00 pm

Hi Anj :)

12:00 pm

scarydeb - ho6...ho# (another word for a type of pig) and something something you would wear around your neck(collar and ~~~)

12:01 pm

scareydeb - ho6/30 is a food served at baseball games ti6 is the top part of an iceberg + a dog or cat

12:01 pm

12:02 pm

Yay! As long as the turkey is gone :/

12:11 pm

'bye CathB : )

12:11 pm

The Great Lakes definitely have an impact on the weather. People just 30 miles north of us have prevailing winds that come across Lake Huron and they get dumped on. I'm on the north shore of the Bay of Quinte which is a bay stuck between the mainland and the island of Prince Edward County. Although technically it is not an island because the canal at the western end is man made. Anyway, the people in the county get dumped on because their prevailing winds come ripping right up the length of Lake Ontario. We here in Trenton are placed just perfectly. We can see the dark clouds dumping to the north of us and to the south while we have a bright blue summer type sky.

12:12 pm

HI Scarydeb, Sherb, Rolin! Merry Christmas! Right, I've archived the themes to date. Except I forgot my login ID cos I'm not at my pc, and I can't remember who's idea some of the themes were.... but I've made a start! Thanks for setting me up, Swimmy : )

12:13 pm

Have to dash, be back later :)

12:13 pm

laters babe : )

12:13 pm

Looks great Babbler!!! I posted my pix and now must go, but I am definitely hoping to participate in the chat more this week as I am off work until January 3. TTYA soon...

12:13 pm

The Great Lakes will probably prevent it from getting too warm or too cold round your way, I expect. I found a live webcam at Niagara Falls a few months ago. It was amazing!

12:14 pm

hi lola :) hi Babbler :)

12:14 pm

Bye Lola :)

12:14 pm

I'm going for a bit too for food. Be back later

12:14 pm

Saw your pics, Swimmy...... wow!! Haven't seen snow like that for aaaaaaages! :D see you later, Lola! : )

12:15 pm

any clue for the go/5?

12:15 pm

Last word always seems to be the most elusive...any help on the os5? Please and thanks!

12:15 pm

bye for now, Yoink : ) I'll probably be gone by the time you get back, so will probably see you tomorrow. (((xx)))

12:15 pm

Brandyjack - here in Detroit we do the same thing - laugh at all the people in Cleveland and Buffalo and in western Michigan who get the "lake effect snow" - it passes right over us! :)

12:15 pm

Brandyjack, sounds like Trenton gets to be the central reservation on cloud highway...

12:16 pm

Ok Babs, see you then ((xx))

12:16 pm

Bye Yoink, Lola :)

12:16 pm

go 5/16 =an inset of cloth placed in a seam to give fullness (as at the bottom of a skirt)

12:17 pm

12:17 pm

...ah, now hot choccy dessert is served. Er, excuse me for a bit... : D

12:17 pm

os5 = An ancient city of west-central Italy at the mouth of the Tiber River (it was my last word too !)

12:18 pm

hi ch1212! season's greetings! os5 - os + what little girls wear when they're little princesses, but drop the last two letters...

12:18 pm

tyvm

12:19 pm

Enjoy Anj :)

12:20 pm

could anyone help me w/ ep 5/16

12:20 pm

Thanks Bugzy and Babbler! Got it. Joyous Christimas, Happy Hanukkah and Merry Kwanzaa to all and to all a good night!

12:20 pm

There are days when I look west and expect to see the prow of some huge ship or a mountain sitting there forcing the clouds to peel off to the north and south. It can get quite eerie in the summer when thunderheads go ripping through and we have a bright painfully blue sky. You can see the lightning flashing and hear it quite well in your bones. But that's only the severe storms. The gentle ones seem to blanket us all equally in a mild drizzle of rain for days on end.

12:21 pm

Cheers ch1212! ep5 = A vestment worn by ancient Hebrew priests

12:22 pm

ep5 = ep + what bricks are carried in :)

12:23 pm

Nothing like the storms in Texas and Louisiana though. Went through a lightning storm in Texas. The lightning bolts were hot pink and intense blue and as thick as your arm. And they were too far away to hear... All we ever get is pallid whitish grey things.

12:23 pm

thank u sherb and bugzy

12:23 pm

BJ, if you wrote a book about your weather, I'd read it. You describe it very well!! : )

12:24 pm

things to do... back later...

12:24 pm

y/w :) Gotta go tend to the little dudes... See everyone tomorrow, I hope! Peace :)

12:26 pm

time for dinner.... I've finished today's grid, so I'll see everybody tomorrow. Have a lovely day / evening! :D

12:30 pm

If I lived in the southern or mid-west US, I'd probably be the most avid storm chaser they ever saw (at least until I got too close to something I shouldn't have). I love thunderstorms and snowstorms. I watched part of a program called snow walker which dealt with a city slicker and an Inuit lass stranded in our far north. That is beautiful contry. Albeit deadly to those who didn't grow up there.

12:39 pm

wow... i grew up in earthquake zone, and i cant say i love them

12:40 pm

actually their kind of scaaarryy...:(

12:41 pm

A person chasing earthquakes and avalanches is a lot like a dog chasing parked cars....... Definitely not a survival oriented habit... Volcanoes on the other hand.... I guess as long as it puts on a good show.......

12:42 pm

jajajajj :D

12:46 pm

i just want to say that hottie is a valid word.. so there :P

12:47 pm

or at least it should be

12:56 pm

For those who don't get the painful ear clue, think tin**** which is a ringing in the ears. Replace the 'tin' with the 't' or 'ot' for whichever of those two you are having a hard time finding..... Using the ti5/10 to find the ot6/18 is hard if you don't have the ti5/10 to start with... Fini. Finally.

12:59 pm

3:41 pm

Hello cool site :)

3:41 pm

renfield Know just what you mean. I've finished now so off to do a bit of quilting.

3:42 pm

peri- there's gh - like the casper the friendly gh*** and then you change the vowel to the 1st vowel

3:43 pm

frances - do you use a quilting frame?

3:43 pm

renfield, thanks so much. got them both

3:43 pm

great peri!

3:47 pm

renfield I design and make entirely by hand silk quilts. Every stitch by hand. Haven't used my sewing machine for about 15 years. I have various sizes and shapes of frames including a large floor standing one.

3:49 pm

harp - there's a book called the groucho letters : letters from and to groucho marx. groucho was a great fan of ** eliot . i just recently read the letter groucho wrote on the passing of ** eliot

3:51 pm

frances - do you use any particular patterns? or different patterns? there's a shop down the road from me that teach quilting and sells hand made quilts. i would love to see a silk handmade quilt!

3:54 pm

that 17th hole is a demon :(

3:55 pm

renfield I tend use my own designs. Although traditional designs are beautiful I try to aim for something unique. I've just finished one for my three year old granddaughter who now wants me to teach her.

3:55 pm

uh huh - it sure is... i'm on the 8th hole and...

3:58 pm

quilting is a beautiful art. how to you use the silk quilts? as wall hangins? or actually use them as a coverlet? how do you care for them?

4:02 pm

Yea, I'm done. Can I please unbind poor Wilbur? Thank you all.

4:03 pm

renfield I always put a sleeve on the back so that they may be hung but I also think that they should be used. I find that as long as they are cold washed it shouldn't cause too many problems.

4:05 pm

i agree about the use - do you go to crafts sales? or do you make them for gifts and personal use?

4:06 pm

mas - is wilbur the little piggy????

4:07 pm

Hi Babble friends, I've been lurking trying to finish. Congrats and welcome and sleep well Ruby! :)

10:02 pm

Hi luv! How many left to find?

10:03 pm

Actually I just finished Grey. Thanks for asking. Anyone willing to commiserate with my woeful holiday tale?

10:03 pm

Uh oh --- what happened? (*hug of anticipation*)

10:04 pm

We were planning on going out of state for the holidays, so household preparations were minimal, just some gifts to give. Has anyone seen Christmas with the Kranks? lol

10:05 pm

*sits up and windmills the ears towards pom*

10:05 pm

My husband went deer hunting Thursday with his bow, and told me he'd be out all day. He went by himself. I got a call at 10:00 a.m. from a kid who had saw him waving for help on the side of embankment.

10:06 pm

Haven't seen the movie, but know the basic premise Go on...

10:08 pm

It has warmed up a bit, and seems he stepped over a log to look down in this canyon and a deer down below... the melting snow made it muddy and down he went. Tried to stay on his feet (in retrospect, should have sat down for the ride), but his right leg his a stump and tore the tendons, dislocated the ankle, and broke the tibia above the ankle in a major angled break. :(

10:09 pm

Ow! OW! OW! -- How long is he going to be recovering from this?

10:11 pm

Also broke an arrow which I am thankful didn't lodge in him. He said he heard the the loud crack, snap, pop, etc. and when he finally came to a stop took a minute to get his breath, then looked and could see the bones up under the skin, and his ankle at an awkward 90 degree angle to his knee.

10:12 pm

After getting his breath, crawled backwards up the hill using his elbows and this left leg to inch up. After about an hour he heard the truck and a high school kid saw him waving and helped him back to our truck. He drove himself to the hospital 45 minutes away. 2 hours of surgery, a metal plate and 5 screws later -- he is home after 2 days in the hospital.

10:14 pm

Sorry if I'm too graphic for anyone. He's non-weight bearing for 4-6 wks. then they will evalutate again for perhaps a walking cast. Problem is, he's a university men's basketball coach and teacher, so getting around campus in the winter will be a challenge. My kids said they will get him a "rascal scooter" so he can zip up and down the court with the players during practice. LOL

10:17 pm

Oh, luvmypom, I am so sorry to hear that your holiday was interupted in such a horrible manner... (((**HUG**)))

10:18 pm

Thanks so much. Needless to say, my daughter and I had to scurry to get Christmas arrangements ready here. Poor guy.

10:20 pm

Oh, Grey. I saw on the boards your daughter really likes her play house. Are you still crawling in with her or have you figured way of playing that is easier on your back? :)

10:22 pm

luv -- thankfully, she is very understanding for being so young -- after politely telling her that my back hurt from going inside about 6 times, she is quite content to use the tent by herself as a safe zone to play in :)

10:24 pm

luvy - a wheelchair should be covered under your inseuance for as long as your husband is unable to walk. mez had his chair for 3 years.

10:24 pm

How cute. Playhouses are the best. I still remember making one out of a cardtable and sheet when I was little. She will be able to be so creative with it -- princess castle to playing house, etc. Good gift, Dad! *hugs*

10:26 pm

Thanks Ren. We are getting him one tomorrow to leave at his office which is in the same building as the gym. His class he teaches is on the second floor of another bldg. but I would think they'd have to have an elevator somewhere.

10:26 pm

The best part, luv, is that it is a real tent so I can bring it outside without worrying about it getting hurt ;) Ren -- did you see my question about David Gemmell earlier?

10:27 pm

That's very cool Grey. Well all, time to go administer the pain meds so I'll be off for a while. See ya' at the flip? TTFN

10:28 pm

Good luck, luv -- (*hug*) I may be here, but I may call it an early night as well, we'll see :)

10:29 pm

Sure thing. Well, I'm off then. later all. *poof*

10:30 pm

no - not earlier - i have now - i had to wash my face and see if i could get some sense... i have not much fantasy - i was on a frederick pohl kick for a while.

10:31 pm

bye luvy - i've been through that - so when you need a shoulder - i have one for you!!

10:31 pm

wolfie- tell me about david gemmell

10:33 pm

Ok, ren -- If you enjoyed Fred Pohl then you might like Gemmell -- he writes historically based fantasy -- if you know your european history you can see where he gets the framework for his stories from --- I found him a few years ago and just fell right into his worlds :) I just got one of his most recent books for Xmas was why I asked ;)

10:34 pm

He has three series that I know of The Rigante The Drenai The Hawk Queen I have not read any of the Hawk Queen books yet, but I intend to :)

10:35 pm

i'm on his book web page. i know quite a bit about world history - not as much as i would like. i will try it - make a recommendation.

10:38 pm

It's truly hard for me to pick one over the other, but let's see... Try 'Sword in the Storm' and its follow up, 'Midnight Falcon' the 1st 2 of the Rigante

10:39 pm

ok - i'm one of those that has to read everything in order - drives mez crazy - i line up my books by date - i will pick them up this week.

10:40 pm

Thanks Grey Woulf - It's my first time playing and I wasn't going to stop until I got to 100 but seems I was stuck at 94. Appreciate your help even if it was for someone else - now I can go to bed. :)

10:42 pm

My intro to Gemmell was the Drenai saga: Legend The King Beyond the Gate and more -- The Drenai is fascinating due the fact that the Drenai empire is an empire in its ebb, so we get to see the tranition of power away from a people that we get to know and admire And his characterization is phenomenal!! You get to identify with the characters very quickly :)

10:45 pm

softsent -- you are very welcome (on both levels) -- glad to help and glad to see you :) -- next time maybe we can chat some more

10:47 pm

ok wolfie - truly looks very interesting.... we go to book stored during the week and order some of our books on line.

10:50 pm

ren -- I hope you like him, I found him by chance when I went to Borders a couple of years ago, and fI love to share my finds :)

10:54 pm

While I am hyping my favorite fantasy authors -- I also highly recommend Terry Pratchett -- he is the author of the Discworld series -- He pretty much does to fantasy what Douglas Adams did to SF with the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

10:54 pm

i found him on half.com - looking right now. most of the books i read were written prior to 1960 - except those evanovich -books - only those thave quite a bit of bad language - someone who reads the books before me colors out all of the bad words for me.

10:58 pm

Ren - you have hit in one of the main reason why I do not read mainstream fiction on a regular basis -- the fact that so many authors feel the need to resort to coarse language or sex to fill the book instead of relying upon being a good storyteller

10:59 pm

i'll look at terry pratchett as well. oh - i did read a mystery about w sf writers convention by sharon mccomb and i do have an antiquated collection of the hugo winners.

11:00 pm

ren -- was that 'Bimbos from the Death Sun' ? (or similar -- been a while since I read it ;) )

11:01 pm

oh you are right there wolfie...

11:01 pm

yes - it was bimbos from the death star...it was good

11:04 pm

The trick to Pratchett is to realise that he has several different story arcs that he covers in the books -- The City Guard, the Wizards, the Witches, and Death are the primaries -- The 1st four Death books in order are: Mort Reaper Man (In my top three of best in the entire series) Soul Music Hogfather

11:07 pm

i've got one last g word to go.... can't see it for nothin.hellllp! please.

11:07 pm

The Guards 1st couple are: Guards! Guards! Men At Arms Feet of Clay

11:11 pm

11:12 pm

11:13 pm

onyx -- DeLint is a fun read! I wish I could stick around and chat some more but I have to go --- Kirsten has been waiting for me patiently -- and the movie version of Phantom of the Opera is just starting on HBO (tne more recetn release) - want to see how well it shifted to the screen :)

11:14 pm
