Good morning Jammersbabe!
a7/32
brandyjack - Thanks once again for your invaluable help :)
e8/45
Good morning all!
Morning Sprite :)
G'Morning Sprite :o)
Nice grid :D
Hi Sprite!
Hi Chessy, Hugs and Doogle :) How are you all doing?
e7/48
ah, looks a little... difficult!
Good thanks Sprite, although keep trying to input 'cigar' from this puzzle! How are things with you?
Yeah, a surprising grid here and there ;)
Trying to get 'fiddle' to work, but otherwise very good, thank you :)
e7/44
ac7/32
There's an f6 that isn't difficult. ;) Sorry - couldn't resist...
f7/48 wasn't that difficult either...
c7/32
wi**li** should be a word!
I got Hugabugs e8/45. Anyone get other 8?
Man... this is a toughie
f 7/40....
Hey, I found Napolean Dynamites fave animal!
Also HP's spell to get something. Won't take, though.
Anyone have the ol 5/12 that isn't a song from the 60s or pervious?
I have a wi 8/80
Cybernan! I just got that one as you posted!
any clue for the ca7 please?
mrp - it sounds like a piece of prickly desert plant.... no def.
mrP: being of any of numerous succulent plants of warm, arid regions of the New World, having fleshy, leafless, usually spiny stems, and typically having solitary, showy flowers
ei 7/36?
Would you like a def, cybernan, or is it a find?
need a clue, sprite!
Didn't know there were that many ci words!
I wondered, because you already knew the points total :) It's the adjective of a greek word for phantom.
Yeah, they are tough! Just found the italian one and hit myself over the head for not seeing that earlier.
Down to 6 now... did I mention I HATE K-words?
I gave up and consulted brandyjack's list!
I've finished the k's -- it's the c's that are giving me trouble.
I have this absolutely blind spot with Ks. Don't know why, but every time I get stuck there. Well, at least I did pretty well on the vowel words, that's a change, lol. Do you have the plural Ci5 for pointed, protruding things, sounds like a woman's name? The 7 builds from that and there is a 6 that comes close and ends in things you don't want in your hair. Or anywhere else for that matter.
I'm no wiser on the ei 7
Time to test your Mind! Heh! Heh!
Ei7: start with the Ei4/5, then change last vowel and make it into an adjective.
Thank you Sprite -- got everything but the ci 6/24
That's the one that ends in those bugging things you don't want in your hair.
hi everyone! is there a theme today???
Hi Sam :)
Got it, Sprite.......8 to go. Are you finished?
ei 7--To instruct especially so as to encourage intellectual, moral, or spiritual improvement.
can I have a clue for the eights please.
sorry, meant ed7 "To instruct especially so as to encourage intellectual, moral, or spiritual improvement."
af 6/30, please?
cybernan, if you widen your search, you look further af****
af 6/30 builds on fi /18
Thank you -- can't believe I couldn't see that!!!
can someone please help with the eights!
ol 5/12, please? -- have "not new"
wi 8/80: There's a big one in Australia that they are trying to contain. There were lots in California last year that destroyed several homes. (compound word)
en 8/45: past tense of en 6/18
en6/18???
en 6/18: to ensnare or entrap
I got both 8's, but not one 7. Spookie?
cyberman ol5/12 change the last 2 letters of the oe you got and add the 3rd letter of the alphabet, sorry not good at giving clues
thanks for the wi8 can't get the en but have to go now because school is back unfortunatly that means less BABBLE poo.
sorry about spelling not awake yet
en8= en+ to6/21
still 50 words to go!!
Thank you oggie! Ring dem bells!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BTW, oggy -- that name fits in really well around here -- it's the nickname for our version of Nessie (Ogopogo)
Goodnight sam
cybernan, thanks
ive finished.
Would anyone else like a clue before I call it a night?
congrats, oggy -- me too -- your clue was for my last word.
Hey 'nan... we have one too, but it's called Manipogo
clues to 7's would be great?
lol, hugabugs
there are 8 of them ishult -- be more specific, please.
so far I have found 62 words including both 8's. But have not found ANY 7's. Sad I know, but true!!
Hi everyone....Ishult..ac7/32.... .a card and an art gallery
1 down 7 to go, thanks tbear
ac 7: a synthetic fibre ci 7: protzoa of ci 7 type (extension of ci 5/12) ei 7: e + "graven image" (biblical) + third letter
fa 7: piece of incorrect info that is presented as true fi 7: determine the paternity of ( a child) -- same beginning as french son ed 7: large impressive building ed 7: one who makes something easy to understand
Good night all -- almost 1:00 am here.
Goodnight cybernan, sleep well, thanks for that help...
Did you get all the k's, Sprite?
g/night cybernan.
A hint for the Ca 7 please
ca7 hint please???
ca7 - see Sprite 1:26
Thanks
How can u all get the pictures you send?????????
mrp - same ending as fa7
I can't find the ca7... any better clue please?
oh, what a word! got it ei is a bugger to get... I went to a2z.com for that one!
Does anyone have a clue for the fo 6/30? Thanks!
dalmatian5: To prevent from being successful; thwart.
Thank you so much - I went the wrong way on the grid and missed that one! Do you need any clues?
morning all whats the puzzle like today?
no thanks, going to bed now. nite nite.
The puzzle is not too bad - some challenges but doable. There are some great clues for the longer words earlier in the chat.
Eveyone have a great day! On to the new grid tomorrow!
dal, you finished?
Finished!! Ya for me!! I get *~*~*~*FIREWORKS!~*~*~* *~*~*~*~*~*~*~* F I R E W O R K S *~*~*~*~*~*~*~* IIIIII*~ *~*~*IIIIII F I R E W O R K S *~*~*~*~*~*~*~* ♫ ♪ ♫ ♪ ♫ ♪ ♫ ♪ ♫ ♪

Morning Gary......I mean Bobsta :)
hiya lola and lotti :o)
Hi Bobsta
Oh, BTW, Hello everyone!
to6/18, past tense of the to4/4.
Sorry, that should have been...to6/21, past tense of to4/4!
Hi Peri :)
thanks found the en8,

Hi All - can't find the a Fi4/7. I have the one that sounds like a car and I have the dough one - what am I missing? Help, please.
Bye Lola :)
Dianne, you're missing hot stuff ;)
Yoink - I thought I had already entered that ages ago. Thanks for putting me out of my misery.
hi all!!
Hello everyone. The grid won't accept half my words ending in 'er'. HUMPH!
Hi Ishult and Jacula :)
hows it going yoink, seems like ages since we logged on at the same time?
Going ok thanks Ishult, how are things for you? I was on sporadically over the holidays and often at odd times
Missed out on the whole of christmas & new year living here, and the hammers gave me little consalation (1 point uin four games)!!!
Liverpool fared much better over the period, happily. At least the Hammers got through in the cup at the weekend
2 Israeli players now!!
Yay ishult, good to see another Hammers supporter!!!
And one at Bolton too Ishult
Hi Bobsta. I seem with both picked Mr. Numan.
hiya Jacula, yep, i was a huge fan as a youngster. Love your post on bab anon btw. :o)
Bobsta - I'm going to have to write a list of Babble letter values on my palm if we have to talk in Babblespeak at the convention.:-) Incidentally, Brum would be cheaper than London as a venue.
I did think that as well Jacula, also it should be cheaper for people to get to. as well as the drink being cheaper. As soon as there is enough interest i'll start organising it, making enquries into a suitable venue and such.
Back! Happy 2006 to you all. Already stuck on wi8/80
what is the theme today please
Hi Alleyn: check lola's post at 5.50 for the clue for wi8.
dodgy 80s pop stars
thanks
But, of course, thanks a bunch.
Back to get the last 12 later, bye for now
Please define dodgy...
Jera - the theme is New Romantic pop stars.
*looks blankly at Jacula* Sorry, ignorant American... translate more, please...
Jera - Gary Numan, OMD, Adam & The Ants etc.
How about Duran Duran...?
duran duran? oh yes, very dodgy!!!
time for lunch bbl
I gotta know... please define dodgy... good or bad??
Human League, Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet etc.
Afternoon all. Can anyone help please with fa7/48 thanks
dodgey - dubions, not totally trustworthy, of questionable repute. Hi Everyone!
sorry typo, that should have been dubious
One Hit Wonders, even better ; ) Hi Everyone : )
That's what I thought... see, I LIKE Duran Duran, so i wasn't sure if I wanted to insult them... guess I'll choose the anyway... like Babble wasn't hard enough!!
anyt clues for FA 7/48? I'm getting dizzy looking for it.
fa8 = fa4/8 + same ending as the ca8
fa7/48 - unassailable truth plus vowel plus identification
Jera - I wouldn't call the bands 'dodgy' either. It was just another muscial phase. Well, Public Image Ltd might come under dodgy due to that awful wailing album, 'The Flower of Romance'...
* or even a 'musical' phase. LOL.
fa7/47 - snippet of information that orbits between Mars & Jupiter ; )
Jac, glad to see I am not the only one who can't type today. Probably expains why I am hating this grid right now :((
Ooh, thanks for that fa7 clue Haz. I hadn't got that either. Just one 'f word' left to find now.
...whoops, that should have be fa7/48 - trajectory off a bit : / lol!
Obviously we all have Mondayitus today (v contagious)!
FMitch - I couldn't type yesterday either. Dunno what's wrong with my fingers. I'll blame the keyboard. LOL.
morning all.not a very nice grid at all today!
morning all ...bbnaz
I've worked out a way to get my last 'f word'. If I can just drag the grid a bit, transpose the o and the f on the 3rd row, I can have 'folk'. I'll shift the 4th line t to the final l for 'newt' as well. *Tries to drag grid squares......... FAILS. DRAT!*
Hi Mia and Christa. Jac - LOL, newt has been bugging me right from the start.
mornin all! wake me up before you go-go!
Morning EvaN : )
Morning all!
hola anj -- how was the weekend?
Only just got the fa7 ty all!!!!
HI All
is anyone else thinking there are far too many i's in this grid?
Morning Jen : ) EvaN, not bad thanks. Saw a Clash tribute band (now there's an 80s icon) but mostly veeged after that. How about you? How's the BF's cold ??
Mia, there is far too many of everything and they are all in the wrong position!!!!!
I see the grid still doesn't recognise 'lilo'.:-( Think I'll go and eat. BBL.
Mia, I'm just annoyed at the As, but that's not unusual lol. Hi Bubbles : )
my weekend was ok...judged a dance team competition saturday afternoon then got lunch with a friend... spent the rest of the weekend with dave...who really isnt that bad, but insists hes nearing death...heh
hi anj
Hayyyulp! Which fa4/8 does the fa8 build off please? My brain is not up to Monday...
Morning, Jen! Don't think I'll make it for coffee today... kids are going to school, but I'm dragging badly... think I'm going back to bed after I get Gwyd off...
No fa 8
i just realized im at work and seeing my correct icon today... *woohoo!!*
you poor thing! Did the cold finally hit you full on?
Anj - today is Monday and that is a fa**. it's not a lie.
i've only found 27 words. apalling.
Cheers Haz...presumably they were 7s then : ) I'm getting disinformation lol!! : D EvaN, have you been giving Dave his Day Nurse then??
Got sort of a dizzy headache, so i think so... Sprite didn't look real good so I wouldn't be surprised if I had to go pick her up early today... I always know when she's feeling bad from her eyes... she gets the red, watery thing first symptom...
Cheers FMitch...I havn't got BJ's list yet so I got a little confused lol. Hey I've changed my icon to the Clash so Classix Nouveaux is up for grabs if anyone wants them...
You guys just get better! I have all the time in the world now! :) So, this supposed to be any 80's pop star, right? That's why I chose my idol, Olivia. But if it's more specific than that, I can change.
jen -- i think its supposed to be "new romantic" genre 80 pop stars...heh
Just saw the fa7 hint... now I can stop trying to stretch the fa6... wasn't working anyway!
...bummer. Might have to go back to Classix then... : /
My guys are considered dodgy, Jen... I don't know what I'm gonna do...
heh, if it were just regular 80s, id probably have Poison -- the BESTEST 80s band ever!
Hmmm, guess I'll come up with something else then. Can it just be an album?
*starts singing Hungry Like the Wolf loudly but not too obnoxiously*
There's always Simple Minds...
I was at NC State late 80's... that was like, totally our theme song...
like, totally, jera. ;)
Fer suurrrrre...
Nuthin' but a good time huh? ; )
anj -- how can i resist??
Even cooler, my dorm was a block away from the basketbal stadium... back in the good old days when I could walk a block...
Okay... I changed.
oh poo... my refresh still isnt working here... *le sigh*
Coolio, Jen!
eva... our house, in the middle of our street.....
hah, loved me some madness!
50 words left... I gotta go finish throwing people out of my house... hubby has a dentist appointment today after working 'til midnight... this won't be pretty...
see ya Jera!
any clues for the af 5 and 6?
Maybe someday, Jen, LOL!
a + flame a + where a farmer grows crops
thanks evanadine :)
YW mia. :)
ok, breakfast-time! back in a few!
...Breakfast Club more like ; )
hi all any clues for fa7/48 please
anyone there?
Sorry rosalind, I am not to the Fs yet, :(
ok off to work now back later see you then
ahh...maybe my update is working after all -- i see jens madness now! :)
there are quite a few clues Ros around 06.57 onwards.
any clues for the fi 7/ 40?
Mia, it's a word to do with paternity. fi plus opposite of early with an extra i : )
great clue anj :)
am over half way now, which is nice!
What's with the lw4/8, had to resort to BJs list for it!!!!
y/w Mia : ) It's one of 'those' grids today...
lw4? *eyes roll back in head...and dies*
evan - I know!!!! that's why I thought I would just lob it into the log.
it's the most babble word we have had for a while, on a par with ywis. It's some sort of currency.
...currency again : / It's 100th of a kwanza... *sobs uncontrollably*
well, i got it, thanks to you + some noodling... meanwhile, im still miffed that yesterdays puzzle didnt accept "pitter"
Considering what Enable does allow, the stuff it doesn't is just plain weird. Does anyone know how to get it updated??
Think that's go to be a question for Dr_G
Is enable a US dictionary, do you know? cos maybe he could integrate a European one too as there a quite a few of us now?
* stands at the threshold of babbledom listening & wondering whether or not to enter* bad grid, i take it?
Hi 72TO - personally I would say unless you have plenty of time - step away from the grid before you get sucked in!
Morning Temple Owl! It's fairly short, but not at all sweet! :)
*ponders* perhaps i'll begin on paper...
how's everyone today? *sings* i don't like mondays (tell me why)....
Struggling in every sense 72TO, esp as it is a Monday and work is being a real pain and the weather is rubbish and ..... roll on spring.
Boom Town Rats?
Hi T-Owl : ) I've got it down to 23 to go without using BJ's list but it was like pulling teeth : /
fmitch - it is going to be 60 today here... i actually hung laundry yesterday! (even if it did take all day to dry) so i am sure we'll have a foot of snow in feb!
yes, fmitch ...but not to worry , i do not have any firearms : ) - aren't they an 80's group?
Anj - we are almost level pegging I'm on 25 and totally concur with your comment! 72TO - yes they are 80's
Does any remember 'Zerra 1' ?
Hi everyone, just popped back to finish off, and I have done. Anyone need any hints?
Morning :) 107 today people
Hi Yoink - only on your Sig. Is that a Denness.net subscription sig??
Hey Toes : ) (( ))
wow I am out of the icon loop! Eak! lol
It is Anj, yeah. I read the site and to get more than the basic 3 tracks you only had to contribute anything at all by paypal, I think I only gave £1-2 or something.
Hi Toesock :)
((((Anj)))) ((((Yoink)))) ((((Eva)))) ((((FMitch)))) ((everyone else))
Morning all who just showed up! TSM, it's a lovely castle... where is it?
mornin TSM. :)
Hey TSM (((hugs back))))
good day lovely people, back again for the second sitting. 35 to go. ;o)
bob work!!!
bobsta -- now theres a name i havent seen in quite a while!
whatever you say greg! hang on, aren't you supposed to be somewhere in half an hour?
hey eva, how goes it?
it goes, it goes...hehe how ya been?
i'll drive very fast!!
I believe this castle is one in Scotland :)
yes i'm sure you will!! LOL
It looks like one we stayed in when were in Scotland about 6 years ago. On the River Tay.
pretty good, very busy over xmas and new year. Nice to be back at work for a rest.
heh, probably not a good sign when work is where youre getting your most rest!
Cheers Yoink...might have to look into that. Can you change the font & colours at all?? Hey Bobsta : )
very true. starting a new job soon so i'll be too busy to be on during the day, no computer either. :(
hey Anj mate :)
Back again!! Hi all, Hi roomie x
Can anyone help with fi4/8? I have the dog name.
hiya bubs x
yeah, as much as i would miss the opportunity to babble all day long, i really need to find myself a new job... days like today when we arent very busy, i go home more exhausted than if we had work...but then when we do have work, i have no motivation to DO it anymore... this job has sucked out my soul.
Hi Bubbles :) Anj, yeah I think you can change all that, I just kept the default because I was lazy
any clues for re5/20?
Wow Jen really? I am sorry but I am not sure where in Scotland this one is located. I just love castles so I had to have the picture lol :)
angelsong, take your 4/7 and add the large-point vowel.
f + what you put in a drink to keep it cold
thanks, Jen
Thanks eva! TSM, I highly recommend staying in a castle if you are ever there! Very cool!
off again, got to mop up my desk after 2 paper cuts!!!
is it me or does this grid just look like a bunch of gobbledygook?
...wibble?
I agree Temple Owl!! having troubles with the re 6's...
It is not just you! I keep wanting to type cigar. :(
i keep wanting to type "flick"
eva - try removing the k from that...
huh, who knew?! thanks TO :)
...I keep wanting to type olfactory but then i'm funny that way... :/
Anj: LOL!!!!
I keep wanting to write "wilkergify" (it's in there) because it would be loads of points
you keep wanting olfactory, Anj ... I kept wanting cicatory!
and i'm mad that oaf li** is not considered a word...
I Keep seeing wildlife (in the grid)
ok, a nice, clean 50 to go. i think its a fair time for a break!
Jen, I plan on getting married in one! ;)
morning everyone!
fa6/30 anyone? TSM, I had o go and look it up... Dunkeld is where we stayed. Best haggis in the world! :)
I like the li5/14! What happens when certain wild cats become too friendly?
Nevermind... found it. Kept wanting to build on the fa5
any help with the re 6's...sorry I'm not "in theme" todoay..
Jen - I have never had Haggis.... Not 100% sure what it is even...
dont ask, TSM!
hey everyone
TSM, you don't wanna know what it is! :)
Haggis is a disgusting idea, yet strangely enjoyable. Well, I'm off, see you all tomorrow
babs- take the re5/12(old) and add a cross cons. to the end
Timale - First I have seen you on babble... Nice to meet you :) just read your profile too
Jen and Yoink - No I don't know 100% what it is but Yoink's works scared me a little....
bye yoink...
bee bee...I'm not getting that..hmm... do have the old one, but can't see how cross cons. works...will keep peering!
later yoinker ;)
eww who in there right mind would eat Haggis bbblllllkkkkkk
Haggis? unusual meat prepared in an unusual way... liver, heart, offal sort of stuff, suet, oats, all cooked in a sheep's stomach if my memory serves me right...
babs- just type the re5/15 + the t
babs- re 6/27 re+gi4/7
Actually haggis is a very tasty dish..... now back pudding is one that I will not touch if you want to talk about yuck food.
OK the typing gremlin is still around I meant to say black pudding.
back pudding is something entirely different...heh
babs- did you get them?
what is black pudding some kind of dung
pretty much :P
Fmitch, I prefer black pudding to haggis, but I prefer hogs pudding : )
I gotta go with tripe in the disgusting food category... texture make me yurk just thinking about it
ewwww
just a sec bee bee...got side tracked with some f words...now back to your clues! Thanks!
whats the difference between black pudding and white pudding? is it to do with blood levels in it or something yukky?
well bfn - another monday, another meeting dumped on me by my colleagues : P
bye temple- have a lovely day
Bye Temple!
It's the blood. That's the black in that pudding. Hogs pudding is the opposite. Like a feral sausage : )
hogs pudding sounds *much* nicer! I can never face black pudding ...
k, bee bee...got the one with the g in it, couldn't get your clue that had the t will look some more..there is not re 5/15
oh, and just because i know you were all itching to know, my birthday is exactly one month from today. :D
this grid tests your newdle
babs- sorry re 5/12(old) + t
jw-LOL
JW, love it 10 out of 10
I make it a point to try new fun things, but Haggis, I will skipping over :(
We ought to put our birth day/month in our blogs : )
thanks, bee bee..guess I wasn't following the cross cons. before...
evan you had better put it on the babble calendar - oh now theres a thought for BabAnon?!?!?!
haggis is meant to be very very nice - if you can get past the thought of what you're eating!
wow I have the feeling that "pudding" is different for me than it is for some of you! I am thinking about chocolate pudding and that yummy stuff... what is pudding for you!? lol
i just thought id give you all plenty of shopping time. ;)
TSM -- black + white "pudding" over in europe is kinda-sorta more os a sausage-y type thing...
Ties, in ye olde Englishe Cookery, it's usually applied to all comfort food over 3000 calories a portion ; )
One of these days, eva, you, me and Jera should actually get together.
TSP - pudding is actually a very old English word that can be used for either sweet or savoury dishes, hense can cause confusion
I get it now.... thank you all for enlightening me! :)
Anyone get the 8 letter words yet? Any clues for me? :)
Now I am feeling very hungry but first I will finish this darn grid and will not mistype in here again until done (famous last words).
en8 take the en6 and make past tense
thats a plan, isnt it jen? hehe
clues for the last to4?
Toes, en8 is en plus the to6/21 meaning worked hard
The best laid plans eva.... :) Jera and I have been trying to get together for about 3 months now and it still hasn't happened!
to4- you carry a to** bag to the gym
Wooo, the Es are real juicy today : )
im usually onlt in the city for work...the rest of the time, i avoid it like the plague...hehe
thanks, Beebee...nearly bit me, that one did.
wi 8- they are always battling this in cal. it burns alot of acres, houses and animals
Hello everyone! : )
angel- that's always how it goes- lol
Hi babe (((xx))) : )
I haven't been to the city since Powerball was up in the 300's and I got a ticket!!
hey lola
Hi babe! (((xxx))) : )
woot! thanks beebee!
Good morning! Lola, I love the Icon!!
thanks anj, working on it here lol
y/w tsm
Hi Lupe! Yummy, isn't he?? : )
((lola))
(((toes))) Hey, how you doing?? : )
any help on the oi 5/ 10 or the oi 6/ 18?
non babble question- anyone know anything about ipod's?
lola- am doing well! about to move at the end of the month into a new house I bought myself.... extremely excited! How are you darlin?
Mia, they are both to do with the slippery stuff... someone who uses it and then, more slippery...
oi 5/10 think black gold

Ooooooh! Jacula that sounds great! Now I am hungry.... I will have to make 2 things now lol
Originally because we'd just come back from Safari!
giraffes are my favourite animals :)
ooh...alleyn...how was the safari..always have wanted to go on one...where did you go? what do you recommend?
I figure after we are fat and happy we can sit around the fire place and sip on fine wines and chit chat
fi 7...word that means to join in and connect with, but missing a beginning vowel from how it's usually used.
alleyn, en8 is the past tense of the en6/18 : )
giraffes's my fave animal too, miametro...maybe we need an icon day for favorite animals?!
that'd be awesome babs. nice suggestion :)
Hello peeps, how many words today please?
fa7 builds off the fa4/8 and ends the same way as the proper word for piles. The ca7 is the same but for the first letter : )
fa and ca 7's have same 6 letters..fa one starts with the opposite of a lie... a truth.. or fa**
The 'oi's' are very apt, considering I've just been helping Paul fix the fiddly, 2-halved collars on 2 inlet valves of his car engine!
....and the ac7 is the ac5/12 plus two letters (think famous art gallery) : )
still looking for the ei 7
oh, no worries, found it
South Africa and it was the most amazing holiday ever. Am saving already for next one.
The Bantu currency (lw) was interesting to find.:/
do you have a touring co. you'd recommend for S. Africa?
Lola. Thanks for ac7 - done it.
Lola - Thanks for the ac7 clue.
Alleyn, where about's in SA did you go? Did you stay at any of the game parks?
lola...umm..could you give a clue for the ac 5/12, please, *scuffing foot on ground, embarrassed to say I can't find it and needing to pack*
who knew the er 5/12 was anything other than a girls name?
babs1, think highest/lowest card in the deck plus short version of thank you : )
Thanks, lola!
Mia - The er5 is another name for heather or ling.
We used Trail Finders. Trip was CApe Town, Wineries, and Safari........... Went to Hluhluwe (prpnouced shoo shoo ey) KwaZulu Natal staying at Falaza Game Park.
any clues for the re 6? it's my last six and i can't figure it for the life of me
mia...clue I got before...add a t to the re 5 above it..
there is another re 6 that builds off of a g 4
Phew!!!!!! Finally finished, woohoo. Does the dance of doneness albeit a bit knackeredly.
congrats FM
Alleyn, I used to live just outside of Durban which is about 2 and a half hours from Hluhluwe by car. I have spent many wonderful holidays in that area and have been to Hluhluwe game park a number of times : )
Woo! Well done FMitch : )
well done FM. 16 words to go now, thanks guys!
I have none of the 7 letter words :(
G'day all. Happy New Year! Anyone have a clue for the af5-16?
a + flame
Well, DUH! Thanks, Miametro. Obviously, my brain cells are not af5-16 this morning.
Lola! What a wonderful place to live. I envy you that experience. Why did you leave SA?
TSM - some great clues given earlier today: ac 7: a synthetic fibre ci 7: protzoa of ci 7 type (extension of ci 5/12) ei 7: e + "graven image" (biblical) + third letter fa 7: piece of incorrect info that is presented as true fi 7: determine the paternity of ( a child) -- same beginning as french son ed 7: large impressive building ed 7: one who makes something easy to understand

Toe Sock...better make sure Fmitch gets a couple of extra drinks and desserts tonight, don't ya think?
thanks FM for the list ...I have them all now
Yay! i'm done : ) Allyen, lots of reasons. Work is becoming very difficult to find in Durban and coming here was an opportunity I felt I should take. I have a small daughter and feel that I can give her a better standard of education and a more secure upbringing here....but I do miss my old home a lot! : )
can someone give me a clue for the ci 6/ 24 please? Is it related to the previous 7 and 5?
y/w, can't claim the glory as the clues were given by cybernan, Yay Lola!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The log is a rich feast of info, chat, laugher and great clues. Argh!!!!!!!! someone shoot me :)
does anyone actually finish the grid without using the second letter list? i always feel so guilty for using it, lol
I always need 2nd letter list too!
I do as many as I can first, then, when I can't find any more, I go to the AZ list.
Just finished too...whew! need to pack, etc...Mia..I always use the second letter list and still use a2z often when impatient and stuck.....I know there's the babble studs that don't use any helpers...: - \
greetings all on this lovely lovely day - can i get assistance with af6?
Mia, mythology has it that there are babblers out there that can do the grid without any assistance. Sprite in the Netherlands is one. Personally I couldn't do w/o BJ's list to finish.
ci 6/24...ci + those annoying little things kids get in their hair!
a + a f 5 word is af 6
I can do it *sometimes* without the 2nd word list, but I usually end up getting help for the last 10 - 20 words. But this d*** CI6 I cant find for love nor money!
thats a word???? Thanks Babs!
Hi Hurshey af6 - a farmer plants his crops in a*****.
whoo hoo, finally finished!! bout bloomin' time too.
i thought bloomin' time wasn't for a few more hours?
Mia, I try find as many as I can first but always use BJ's list to finish. It would just take too long for me to finish (if I even could, lol!) without it : )
ah, see, that was my problem, i had tried to find that fi5 and didn't think it was in the puzzle... thanks fmitch!
Ha Ha HotTimale
Woo! Well done mia! : ) I must say goodbye as I have to get dinner going, see you all tomorrow : )
Bye Sis TTFN
man, with grids like todays, i take a babble break and i cant get motivated to start up again! heh
Anyone need any clues before I go?
I need a bit more for the fi7 & the second ed7 (not the building), please, FMitch...
ed7 = take the ed5/22 and make it the person that does this word.
which two 7s am i missing? ca7 40 ed7 48 ed7 44 ei7 36 fa7 48 fi7 40
fi7 - use the i below the f and then add that vowelagain + a word that means having consumed food.
Got it... was going for wrong ending...

Jera, bless - so happy to help as I have finally finished this one and have time to share - sometimes I don't.
Okay so I'm guessing wi8 is a compund word... life isn't in the grid or it'd be easy... hints on second bit of wi8, please??
Never mind... saw it as soon as I asked...
Wi8 -- they suffer a lot of these in really dry places...especially in california lately...
*smacks self repeatedly with Fish*
yes but who knew it was one word, 2 possibly hypenated or 2 totally seperate but Nooooooo Babble says its one 8 letter word!!!!!!!!!
i could use some ol5 help - i have the one that means a classic song
The good news is: I've finally replaced the song Wild Boys that I couldn't get out of my head... the bad news is, now the song is wi8....
Jera - you have used a word that's in the grid!!!! and now I have that song in my head and I didn't before - so unkind!!!!!

thanks fmitch, got it. thanks leslieann too... i'm done now!
Some clues were kicked around earlier for the Fi-7, but they didn't ring any bells for me. Anyone care to throw a new clue out there?
Hi, gang, how's it going today?
Fi + consonant + i cant believe "* ***" the whole thing!
fi7 - if you're a doctor, you would be aff_______ with a certain hospital. chop of beginning.
ugh, i hate when i type "of" for "off"
lol - the news headlines, if you read them as connected, are very funny - check it out: 76 Dogs Die From Toxic Food: Alito Faces Tough Hearings: Cheney Briefly Hospitalized
Oh, I just saw what I said... sorry... maybe my mistake will help someone...
it did :)
still stuck on fa7 fi7 and ed7

Miya, most of the '80s qualifies for visual kei if I remember correctly... ; )

Hey Shorty! It has...I haven't been on for several weeks @_@ oooh, I'm whizzing back to the 80's then :D
Sounds rather Rocky Horror to me...?
hi everyone. having trouble with the last 35word. The ci5, 6 & 7 are killing me. any clues about?

Greetings all. I haven't played much lately. I hope everyone has had a wonderful holiday season and a super terrific new year. That said, who has the EN8? Is it related to the EN6?
ci 's An eyelash, one of the hairs along the margin or edge of a structure, such as a leaf, usually forming a fringe.... and variations of

RE6 to put a shiny surface back on
Jera... add a letter to the end of your re5/12

ty u2... i smell a halibut headed my way for that one...
missing ri5/16, ca7 & ac5? Help?!?
We had an electrical fire last night in the plug where the washer plugs in, so now, not only does the house smell and the land lord not answer my calls, I have to drag two sick three year ols to the laundry mat....I hate to leave but....
ca7: a prickly desert plant in the belt between Mars and Jupiter
ri 5/16 To search with intent to steal, to shuffle through ac 5/12 remove the last two letters from your ac 7/32
hot timale, good one! it worked!
yw smaller :)
wow, fish #2 in less than 10 minutes! ri5/16 was a HS nickname... d'oh!
Hi everyone, back again for a little while
any hints for the sad + lonely N?
Hi all, checking in for a bit. Hope everyone had a great New Year!!
hi periwinkle!
ok...anyone else before I go...to the laundry mat with squealing toddlers, anyone, please?
Hi Tinkerbell! Bunnyvicious- through them some Dora fruit snacks and they'll be fine!
n A woman born in the state of villeinage; a female serf, spell it like the re 4/7
still not got the ca7. feeling a bit thick today?!?
ne4/7: a woman born into slavery; anagram of what you pay for a speeding ticket

yw
Smaller are you a bit finger tied today.... :)
and yet again. meant bunny not peri. oohhh it's gonna be a long day
lol, it's ok, got the gist, i'll try chunking fruit snacks at them then...
oh my yes, schro. how was your vacation? how's marathon training?
el 5/12 anyone?
not too hard at them, bunny. lol
Is anyone here a Lifecoach or know someone who is a lifecoach in the Phila.,PA area. If so, please e-mail me. I need help in making a complete career transition.
My mom used to make a game of us cleaning all the lint screens at the laundromat. You could try that.
same as your ei 4/5 with an L n it
El5 -- sounds like E + told an untruth
el5/12= e+ eye covering + same vowel as start
Vacation was great, too relaxing, didn't run much. Just got my race schedule for the year....Dec 3=26.2 miles....
tyvm... thought i'd tried that combo already
*laughs at the way we can come up with so many different clues for the same word*
Back tomorrow, thanks for the child taming tips, have a good afternoon...or night..bye all
tink, Woohoo. You even inspired me! I'm set for June 3rd. now I'm panicking though. I started the mileage after Christmas. The long runs will kill me.
bye bunnyvicious! playing in the dryer is an option too.
WTG Smaller!!! My first 10k is in Feb. I'm trying to do 1 run a month at least this year just to keep motivated..
SMaller & Schroder - where are your marathons? Early June sounds like San Diego - early Dec. - Hawaii?
any help on the ca7??
Schro - Thanks! And woohoo for you! Cadfan - oh nope, sorry. just a Montana marathon called the Governor's Cup.
Hey, no marathon is "just" a marathon. Way to go.
ok - i'm inspired..but i'm too tired 8)
Cadfan - true. but San Diego would sound more fun. seeing half-naked-people-due-to-warm- weather might ease the pain of running. Montana just has mountain people who join in thinking we're running after a bear or something. kidding. sort of.
*gasp* smaller! lol too funny! and way to go - I know I am inspired by both of you
pbr- ca7 - from hot timale earlier: "ca7: a prickly desert plant in the belt between Mars and Jupiter"
Hi Ren! Hi Circe! lol
hi smaller - just dropped in to say hey!!
Mine is the California International Marathon in Dec. Who knows may qualify for Boston.....yes I'm a dreamer CadFan you run?
Take my word for it - you'll see plenty of near naked's in June in Montana, marathon running is HOT work!
Renfield!!!! Happy New Year!!!
Not currently running - am presently recovering from emergency gall bladder surgery. Last marathon was Disney in Jan 2001. I've done 3 - plus a bunch of 1/2s
CadFan, I'm familiar with the runners in Montana from the races we enter. There are only a few that should consider near nudity. Let's pray for snow. A lot of snow.
HNY Shro - how was the beach???
ROTFLOL Smaller. I now what you mean. It happens here in Colorado too.
uh... isn't that called streaking???? 8)
Very wet, huge storm that came in flooded most of the roads. The ones that weren't flooded were closed due to mud slides. Made the drive interesting..
so shro...what did you do? could you run? or just read and watch it rain...glad you're home safe...
hi everyone!
nearly, Ren. the saddest race was my first half marathon and let's just say the girl ahead of me was much too big for her britches. motivation to pass her. quickly. difficult to stare at jello for 13 miles. mesmerizing at first. then, just not right. then you can't NOT look. oy. the perils of long distance running.
lol smaller...picture is tooooo much...but i guess that's what you said...too much bum...
Only ran once, played games with the kids and relaxed and watched the ocean..... Hi Sam!
hi sam
oh poo have to go bye!
Bye Sam
hi everyone!
gotta go to the bank - bbk 8)
smaller -- still stuck on the darn ca7 -- can't work through the clue
Hi Efor Bye Renfield
prb - like a desert plant (ending similar to ending of what Data is in star trek)
hello : ) New Romantics is looking good!
(i am unfamiliar with this "new romantics" term so i am a kitten instead, sorry)
oh hurshy! you must have heard of Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet, Adam & The Ants, Visage, The Human League, etc??
i've heard of duran duran, but not the others
i wasn't allowed to listen to the radio when i was a kid - didn't start until '91, so i missed the 80's.
hurshy, you've probably heard the songs & not known who it was (sorry, HUGE 80s fan here!) :)
pbr- oops sorry, stepped away. come to think of it, hot timale's clue was after about 3 others that made no sense to me so it was all 4 needed to get it through my thick skull. did hurshy's clue help?
probably true, efor! :)
when Duran Duran released their first single, Planet Earth, they were very New Romantic. In fact, they mentioned it in their song. *reminisces over their performance....*
even simpler ca7 clue: it's very very similar to fa7
Human League sang Don't You Want Me... I think... babbler? I ALWAYS get them & Animotion mixed up!
yes, they did, efor. it was their biggest single. : )
ok, so Animotion sang "Obsession"... doubt I'll keep that remember that for too long! lol
'Obsession' rings a bell, but I don't remember the name Animotion?? I'll have to look them up to remind me.
i have a 7-cd set of 80's music (about 150 songs) & i'm 99% sure they're both on there. i will have to check later. 'cuz i can't remember what spandau ballet sang
ahaaa!! yes I remember this tune :D
oh wow, the Top of The Pops show when Duran Duran first appeared, along with Spandau Ballet is burned in my memory. It was fantastic!! We were all talking about it at school the next day :D
Its too good to be true. In fact, its too good to be anything by Spandau Ballet. V. old New Romantics joke for you there. Hi all!
efor - through the barricades, gold etc etc
Dachef, 'To Cut A Long Story' (Spandau Ballet) was unlike anything around at the time. !
sorry, my favorite is still "puttin' on the ritz" by taco... classic!! :)
oh noooo, now I've got 'Puttin' on the Ritz' on my mind now.... : / (good tune!)
sorry babbler! :( didn't think it was contagious!
well, I'm going to oooowww - woooow, Fade To Grey and go and watch Coronation Street. :D:D:D LOL !
I am far too young to remember New Romanticism. Really jealous really, cos my generation never really had anything like that. You guys got amazing, cutting bands like Duran Duran, Spandau ballet et al, and we got Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan. Whoo-hoo.
I feel so sorry for you Dachef, you missed a treat! I turned 15 in 1980, so I was there for the lot! :D
no worries, efor, I replaced it with Visage... ; )
i was only 2 in 1980, but 8 years of dance classes exposed me to A LOT of that music. it was huge then for us to dance to that kind of music. the costumes... VERY 80s.... neon colors everywhere! LOL
Now Mr Stephen Strange i do know! Mad as a box of frogs...
he's a total loony-tune, isn't he? lol !
any clues for ANY of the 'ci' words? I can't get a single one!
b'bye all! *waves*
bye babbler! :)
ok i got one... the stuff that hangs out on mitochondria... but i can't get the rest!
can i please have a clue for wi 8 80 please.......
whatever is raging in oclahoma
oklahoma
kaka ci 4 - itilian for bye
ahhh - i love the big 80's sound...efor, if you like 80's listen to wxpn the last friday night of each month at 8 - robert drake's "land of the lost"...
wee got it, thanks
i will have to remember that temple! . that's all she wrote for me today... gotta get back to work. :( see you all later!
bye, efor! do you remember "mexican radio" by wall of voodoo? anyone?
I give up on the ca7 -- just can't figure it out..moving on
thank you
pbr ca7=ca*and the last 4 letters of you fa7-48

the farmer is outstanding in a f****
nope. doesnt work. I have the fi5/18, but when I put an a in front of it, "it is not a valid word". Either Im being REALLY stupid (problee), or something somewhere has gone horribly wrong....
(which is why the farmer won the Nobel prize. ha ha)
dachef - refresh...
the first fi5/18, not the second
okay, okay, got it. There are 2xfi5/18. If anyone wants me I'll be standing in the thicko's corner.
Dachef The kids will play baseball in a af---- next door to our house.

Suel, did you ever get your clue for WI 8/80? If not, think of what is causing all the trouble in Texas, Oklahoma, and now also Colorado. Some people think it is two words rather than a compound word.
yes i did. thank you for asking and for the clue also.
Any clues for et 6/18 and ge 5/16?? Please
Greetings again. Does anyone have the RI5/16? Thanks.
ge and what you twist on the top of a jar.
ri 5 16 is what people use to shoot when they go hunting.
the ri5 is a thing that shoots or a verb for going through stuff quickly
Thank you Suel
y/w maryjo
Thanks Carrie. I had all the right letters but wasn't connecting them correctly. I guess my dislike of guns even covers word games.

Thnx Uneaixoise. Just have to find the to5!
add a vowel at the end of to4/4

Got it Carrie. THe TO5 is the word for a kind of fabric. It's french I htink. Add an E to the front.

Thnx again Uneaixoise. Now I have to go look the et word up --looks familiar
evening all :) ...a bit late for me to start playing today, but what the heck...only 107 words...

*wonders what the icon theme is for tomorrow so she can get ready for bed*
Hi Sherb, Happy New Year to you!!! I have all sorts of chocolate....what you looking for
Must be a full moon or something...everyone's in such a strange mood....we should all dance crazily around a bonfire until we're exhausted....far too much energy going on
smaller - finally, you said something I can agree with... that Morelli is certainly a dream... :D
tbear, that's like how I go to church! ;>
Schro- well it's not as much fun if I can't cause contusions and lacerations for it.
Not a Full Moon tonight, though, can't use that for a lame excuse for this shameful behavior...
smaller, I grew up in New Jersey and I can relate to the attitude and all...I'm ready to order the 11th book next...
anything you got, Schro... thanks :D
Seriously, though... what's the theme for tomorrow, does anyone know??

oh yeah, sorry for the take down, shro. I think I may have chocolate issues. Chic, actually, despite my pugilistic outburst for chocolate today, that new jersey attitude was really hard for me to get into. I'm from montana. other than the mountain men, we as a state are very polite.
nite Jera, sleep tight :)

laters Schro ... give my regards to the multitude of fairies who keep hijacking your icon!
any idea what lw stands for? what langauge are we dealilng with?
Please whats the thing in front of your head?
inge - according to the dictionary its a unit of currency. Dunno where, but apparently 100 lwei equals one kranza. Sounds like it could be Klingon.
Yvo - the thing that incorporates your nose, your mouth, your eyes, your cheeks, etc. often used in the phrase "**** up to challenges"
thanks Dachef. My Websters wouldn't even give it honorable mention.
thank you dachef got it im a beginner
the fi7/40 anyone? determined not to use the a2z tonight, but am starting to flag now....
found it - it was hiding just underneath my understanding of the English language!
Dachef, i have been looking for that one, care to share a clue?
aknitter ... To determine judicially the paternity of (a child born out of wedlock, for example)
aknitter - it means "to judicially determine the father of a child born out of wedlock" 'parently.
found it!!
weird definition, my kids use it all the time in their math homework! lost in translation i guess
yup - new one on me. Actually, most of the words here seem to be Klingon.
live long and prosper i always say
fi 5/18 anyone? the one before the fi 5/16 (not the place to play)
one who puts folders in order, ak.
not the fi 5/16 the 5/18, ty for trying
wait. folders already put in order. they are fi5/18
Past tense of 4/7
ty pms i always seem to miss those past tenses
Yippee! Just got those last 3 pesky 'ci' words to finish the grid.
congrats jacula. I have 12 left. is it me, or is this grid a really b*gger?
Sorry. Forgot my manners. Hello again, folks. I disappeared without saying goodbye earlier when my daughter suggested a shoe-shopping trip. We had 3 and a half hours of girlie bliss.:-)
Dachef - No, it's not you. This grid is small but mean.
Jacula - do you have a clue for the ol5/12? Either of them? Im stuck....
1st ol5/12 - what you might call a pensioner. There's a magazine called 'The Ol***'.
2nd ol5/12 - Of, relating to, or derived from oil. Main ingredient of margarine. It has an 'ICky' ending.
Dachef - The first ol5/12 rhymes with actress Miss Hawn's first name.
an ol*** but goody- songs from the fifties are ol****
got em - Jacula- you are a star!!!!
thanks mistress...8) i got them as well...
I've been singing Gary Numan's 'Cars' all bloomin' day! Now I've added 'Prince Charming' to that, Rennie. LOL.
Dachef, who's your icon? I can't see it properly.
i've been singing that wi****** song jera mentioned...i really don't like that song...then i started...don't you want me...
"gold, always believe in your soul, you've got the power to know, you're indestructible, always believe it, you are..." and repeat until you drive everyone around you nuts.
hi beebee...they didn't have a barbie for this...
'You were working as a waitress in a cocktail bar when I met you...' LOL
that much is true...8)
Dachef - I've got it. Oh Gawd! It's going round in my head now.
hey ren- i was actually wondering- lol
Jacula - its actually an album cover from one of Stephen Strange's post-visage incarnations. I believe they were called something like Visage: the Second, or something equally unimaginative.
i think i have one...but she kinda looks like a blonde punky brewster... i'll put her on..also if babrie did we are young by benatar
All together now... 'Don't you want me baby? Don't you want me... Ohohoooh..'
re 5/20 and re 6/21 -- i seem to be re challenged tonight
"dont forget I put you where you are now, and I can put you back again". Seriously though, if he had really said that to her, and she stayed with him, then she deserves everything she got.
re5/20 - add a consonant that sounds like a question to your re4 above it.
don't you want me baby, don't you want me....oh
re6/21 - add a consonant that sounds like a beverage to the end of the re5 before it.
re6/21 = re5/12(old) + the consanent that looks like a cross(lowercase)
Can anyone help me with the en8? thanks!
but even then i knew i'd find a much better place either with or without you...
these 5 years we have had have been such good times
Dachef - If you can hear me above all the singing (:-)) do you remember that car ad that used that song? It was hilarious.
i still love you...
en8 - past tense of en6 above it.
en8= en6+ past tense
yeh - Iremember! very clever. However, she should have stuck that petrol cap where the sun dont shine. If I had said that to my girlfriend in a petrol station, I'd be smelling of petrol even now.
Thanks for trying, but can you help me with en6 also? I am going in chaotic circles.
ty for the re help, that consenent that sounded like a question threw me for a minute or two but then the light bulb turned on and ....
en + to4/4 (work)
don't don't you want me- you know i can't believe it when you say that you don't need me- don't don't you want me you better change your mind or we will both be sorry
Thanks Jacula!
'Don't you want me, baby Don't you want me, oh Don't you want me, baby Don't you want me, oh...'
en+ to** (rythmes with boil)

fianlly done. 107 words, feels like 300! Quite proud I didnt have to use a2z tho - thanks and pineapples go out to all those cluemasters out there.
yeaaaaaaaaaaaaa dachef
Also, if she was really working as a waitress in a cocktail bar - she was probably a chav.
WELL DONE DACHEF. I didn't use a2z either, not even for the Bantu currency (lw word).
hey dachef...i'm growing a pineapple tree from the top of a pineapple i cut up and ate...it's about 2 ft tall now...
what is a chav please?
refeld - nice one! didnt know that was possible. Personally i have the opposite of green fingers - every plant i touch dies instantly.
chav = comon person. <holds nose in air and sticks out chin>
human league?
Cool rennie; I love doing that sort of thing (usually with avocado seeds that then grow to large to move when I need to move house).
i'll give you one of my green thumbs....
welcome funky punky barbie- i love it ren
yeah t-owl!!!!
Just been checking my overloaded bookshelves for a book I bought last year about the 100 most depressing songs of all time. Was wondering if Don't You Want Me was broken down in it. There's a hilarious breakdown of Bobby Golsboro's 'Honey' in there. Can't find it right now though.:-(
if there was such a thing as a real human keague - chavs would be fighting relegation to Division 2!
hi kids...just a quick hello before I'm off to a dinner with coworkers...the joy & pain of travelling w/ others when I could have room service & babble!!
mab...i love growing anything that's legal from seeds or cuttings. i can grow roses by taking a cutting and sticking it in the ground...my mom taught me...8)
hey and bye eb- enjoy your meal
thanks for definition, had no idea.
ok eb - you be somebody now...8)
jacs - i think gilbert o'sullivan's alone again, naturally is high on the list - if not the highest!
I'll be back later....is the puzzle a doozie or not too bad - sometimes the "little ones" scare me!!
eb - it's tough. but your friends will be here when you return!
It is a wee sneaky.
going to bed now - meeting tomorrow with company director - must not have bags under eyes (although he usually does)! Good night all, and thanx for all the clues. As ever, I applaud you.
nite dachef...sweet dreams are made of this....
'Night Dachef.
thanks...see you later!! (unless I fall asleep - I've been up since 4 am on very little sleep...travelled across the US of A....) ciao for now!
i'm sure that total eclipse of the heart by bonnie tyler would also be there- i need clarification- depressing cause they stink to listen too or cause the lyrics make you want to cry?
did eb say a word????
nite dachef- sleep well
Does anyone know what year the following song came out? Not the coke commercial version. Put the lime in the coconut and drink it all up You put the lime in the coconut and drink it all up You put the lime in the coconut and drink it all up You put the lime in the coconut and call the doctor woke him up I said Doctor! nevermind the bollocks
wi6/30 - more cunning that Wi*** E. Coyote.
'God Save The Queeeen!'
anyone have a clue for the ci6/24, one of the fi4/8 , ge5/16 and fl4/8
anarchy in the UK!
wi 6/30 more sneakier than the coyote that hangs out with the road runner
Peri - You'll have got them yourself by the time I've typed the clues, going on previous track record. LOL.
Don't think so, Jacula, I did find some earlier while waiting for clues but not these.
ci6/24 - a coarse cloth, haircloth. ci + plural of louse.
R-O-C-K- in the U-S-A in a little while from now, if i'm not feeling any less sour,

fi4/8 - f + frozen water. fi4/8 - Dog's name (was in yest's grid, too)
ge 5/16 - ge word for to come together + abbreviation for license or proof...
fl4/8 - Sounds like a shortened short name for a movie or the first name of Miss Colby who fronted Pan's People, the dance group, back in the 70s.
i promised myself to treat myself and visit a nnearby tower...
ok - i think i'm going to drive home now.... i only have 48 to go...if i can keep from singing.....8)
no ren don't leave me
Drive safely, Rennie, and don't go singing any of the 'dies for love' songs like 'Terry' or 'Leader of The Pack' or 'Fernando'.

Thanks for all the clues, Jacula, had to resort to Google, to get that darned ci6
hey bean - the truly scary thing about that song was when my aunt told me how beautiful it was...
Temple, I am doing ok with the puzzle if that is what you mean
Got 'em all now, Peri?
everyone sing: It's Christmas time There's no need to be afraid At Christmas time We let in light and we banish shade And in our world of plenty We can spread a smile of joy Throw your arms around the world At Christmas time But say a prayer Pray for the other ones At Christmas time it's hard But when you're having fun There's a world outside your window And it's a world of dread and fear Where the only water flowing Is the bitter sting of tears And the Christmas bells that ring There are the clanging chimes of doom Well tonight thank God it's them instead of you
left standing in the lurch, in a church, with people saying
yes, peri - wondering if the clues helped : )
Jacula, got the ones I was just looking for but only up to 90 words, not been playing much today. Will play for a little while longer. Will probably be begging for more clues soon.
not too many people know that song owl.
Temple, yes the clues did help and I will be asking for more really soon.
my god that's tough she stood him up no point in us remaining
Quote from my book about Alone Again... 'By the time the big day arrives...the bride realises she's about to marry an erratically employed drip... 'I'm outa here,' she says, leaving him 'standing in the lurch at a church', which, truth be told, is subconsciously what he hoped would happen because it helps confirm his misanthropic see-I-told-you-so view of the world.'
but it seemed so popular at the time - go figure!
of course there is the old doowop song about the guy who married the eskimo in baltimore....a truly strange song i have only heard twice...
I like the singalongs
I only know Running Bear and Little White Dove
with a love *thinks* pure as the sky?

See you all tomorrow.
Spatial - when one of our Russian hamsters had babies we called them 'The Monkeynuts' 'cos that's just what they looked like, scurrying around the cage.
hahaha monkeynuts hahaha
Jac - Is that Gary Neuman?
Spatial - that's just what the babies looked like, fat at one end, thinner in the middle, fat at the other end. Just like monkeynuts, but furry.:-)))
Hi Torg. Yes, that's Mr. Numan.
hehehe, I'll trust you. I've not paid attention to monkeys nuts.
yeaaaaaaaaaaa peri- goodnite

We'll have to treat it like pantomime and use ladies for the male roles.
Mab - good luck with your cat.

'Happy Days' - that's being used for a car ad over here in UK at present. I used to rush home from work to catch 'Happy Days' on tv.
'Friends' - another good theme tune.
I'm so glad we've had this time together.... just to have a laugh or sing a song....
my son tells this joke, i bet i can make you sing with 3 words here's a story
Harp - Yes, flowers. I've got some from my own garden on my icon.
thank you all...............

I thought opium was more a Victorian thing? LOL.
ok mama - we will !!!!
thanks rennie! ciao!
oops
mistress - there was a liquid here that had an opiate - it was for upset stomachs...
Did Mama say a word?:-)
you don't have to go to time out mama....8)
Rennie - if you mean Kaolin & Morphine, we had that, too. As I kid, I always thought the dark brown part tasted best. LOL.
to a deeeeluxe apartment in the sky we're movin' on up movin' on up to the east side we've finally got a piece of the pie
yes, but I said oops before anyone chastised me, so that makes it ok, right?
what did she say that's a no no?
I will go now before I cause any more trouble! beye beye
no mama- that doesn't make it ok- now you have to stay with us for 2 hours
u r rite mama!!!! jacula - this was a white chalkie liquid - tastes like licorice
for the luv a *&@+^.}%.......Cant find that darn wi5/20 any clues??
she said the ci4/5 word
bean... you don't remember????
ohhhh
wi4/8 add one letter that makes things past tense
i don't remember nuttin
tim that's the clue for the wi5
Rennie - same stuff. Your Mom just shook it up so the brown (morphine) mixed in with the white (kaolin/chalk).
what kinda moma did i have- she wasn't giving me that
I never had that stuff, mom gave me lots of benedryl liquid tho to knock me out.
beebee - I'm going back to the 60s and 70s. I don't think they put opiates in the medicines now.
i feel like the step kid- my moma was giving me nasty pepto and y'all were getting morphine- where's the justice
No wonder we're nuts, our moms had us drugged all the time.
LOL, beebee.
oh...well now you have to have an rx to get it....i give my mom the children's benedryl....8)
My last word, fi 7/40?
Yeah morphine for kids, morphine for kids!
Dang, missed Mama's exit. Oh, and Green Acres song wins. It's the song that won't go away! hmm hmmmmm (now, what WAS the name of that pig?) Oh yeah, got the Brady Bunch in one, beebee!
you are so right bean.... i would get stage fright and at 6 i was given valium ...tap..smile...tap,,,drool... tap,tap...smile
benedryl has an adverse effect on my child hypes him up- once again, there's no justice
fi7/40 - to ascertain the paternity of. Sounds like a way of saying 'I have eaten my fill'.
thanx again B..B
omg valium at 6
tim y/w
Y'all better don't let tom cruise hear you talkin' about med. anyone lol
tom cruise can kiss my grits....8)
need only 4 more... the 2nd fi 5/18, the fi 7/40, the last fi 4/7 and the il5/12 any help would be awesome
yeah and let's hope Katie Holmes doesn't get post partum depression.
hmmm what if she did...what might she do to him???
done. Thank you everyone!
"here honey, take a vitamin, go for a nice walk."
way to go harp!!!!!
take fi4/7 under fi5/18 and add the letter that makes past tense for the fi5/18
Have just checked my book on side-effects for Benedryl type anti-histamine medications. Quote: 'May cause excitability, especially in children. '
fi4/7- cavemen evoled when they learned to use fi** or i need to put wood in the fi**place
Well done, Harp.
its the other 5/18 I need b..b
fi7/40 clue @9:49
and renfield....boing..boing....bo ing....
Tim - I gave a clue for that a while back (2nd fi5/18). Past tense of what you do with papers in an office or with your finernails to get the snags off.
il 5 take il4 add letter to the end that makes it a flower, smell and clor(think light purple)
oops color
wtg harp
Renfield's joined The Magic Roundabout and turned into Zebedee.
any help with the 'ke'4?
fi5/18- fi*** of dreams or go plow a fi*** or football fi***
take the ki 4 and flip the vowels
ke4 - sounds like someone using a keyboard. Failing that, think of a thing on stilts that goes out into the sea (like Blackpool or Wigan Pi**) and transpose the vowels.
ty i swear i tried that a few times and it didn't work
tim- did you get them all?
all but the fi 7.................
fi7 - I ate my fill. Take out the 'my' and say the phrase the other way around... fi** * ***'. Hope that works!
Tim - Drop the extra 'l' also.
fi7- take 2nd fi4/7(having to do with papers) drop last vowel, add a different vowel(straight one) + if you had dinner you already ***
got it now cant believe it took so long..................thanks B..B)
tim kind of think of cajun gumbo
Just gave Wolfie Mamabear's message.
did ya e-mail him?

oops- no yeeeeeaaa for you yet tim
still need 1 more dont know which one..........
Oh Rennie! Now I'm singing 'Second-hand Rose', the old music hall song.
no yea for uncledaay yet
ren -- I don't mind at all -- I would rather get a message multiple times than have every one presume that some one else had done it ;)
ren- r u going to be flower power barbie 2-morrow?
gw we are the babberly hills waltons today
whew...thanks wolfie.... 8)
Back. 'Evening, gw.
beebee - i think i will what about you?
pretty mab
missing an fi 4/7 its either the 2nd to last one or the last one "HELP"
Evening, mab
does it have to be a flower or can it be a plant? i'm thinking i'll be poison ivy
wow mab!!! pretty!!!
i could be my pineapple tree....
fi4= fi+not high, **w
Tim, you must be missing the greek pastry dough.
the other fi4 is the one that burns
fi4/7 - make of small car, i.e. 'Uno'. fi4/7 - emery board or office folder. fi4/7 - type of pastry. fi4/7 - inferno.
So what is the consensus on the board today? Should I try to do it or take the night off and just chat?
Just found it and I would like to thank you all.............My hillbilly family
no ren- you hafta be a barbie- unless you can put a barbie atop that pineapple tree :)
2nd grid Ive finished...
yeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaa tim
T'waint nothin....heck....
beebee - it moght be rather sticky.....ow ow ow
Grey, you can do it! with one paw tied behind your back! I've been going in fits and starts, and have 4 words left to find, plus a lovely melody from a 60's or 70's sitcom that keeps playing in my head...
gotta go mayber next time Ill get myself an icon.......
ren ;)
bye tim
ok uncledaddy timbob...
'night tim, and congratulations.
gw- if you do it- we'll help ya
'Bye Tim and WELL DONE.
i guess it's flowers not plants
ok help w/ the el.....
take ei4/5 and stick a L in it
mucho gracias bb
Someone is singing Skiylark on the radio. It's one of my favorites. Beebee, you could be a scary flower.
ren y/w refresh iam a venus fly trap
Well, if everyone is so sure -- time for me to cannonball into the deep end of the grid! Hopefully I won't get to absorbed in chatting ;D
mab- great minds lol
It is a somewhat difficult one, gw, so be forewarned.
gw- it is very trifling, but we will help you- not sure if it would be more of a hinderence though
ow ow little shop of horrors 8)
When one is surrounded by friends, nothing is too difficult -- the really tricky part will be when Kirsten decides that she wants my undivided attention :)
ren- bring out the new barbie pleeeaaaassssssseeeeee
gw- are those wolves kissing or is it a mirror image?
HA! The song is defeated! I finished- whoo hoo! And GW, if I can, you can!
way to go JB
ok - here's daisy barbie...
ooo, great pic bb. Funny, I couldn't refresh for Jac's slipper kitty. My computer is so random. I've done nothing to prepare for tomorrow's voyage to Connecticut. How I don't want to do this....but I do want Malka to be well. I'll look for functionning tape recorder.
They're kissing, beebee Congrats, JB!!! -- I'm off and running now!
beebee - apart from the Venus Flytrap you could also be a Drosera Capensis (another carnivourous plant, but with a flower) or the spooky looking Bacca Chantrieri (the Bat Flower, Cat's Whiskers or Devil Flower).
Thanks, beebee, couldn't do it without the clues, whether or not MamaBear actually types a word! Thanks for your help, cluegivers for the last 2 hours!!!
I can see it now, gw, but I thought it was a kitty at first.
LOL, mab -- Kirsten said the same thing :)
oh, good, mab, I'm not the only one who sees a kitty. Cute, huh?
yeah looks like a painting of a kitty face
ROFLMAO!!!!
Or the huge orchid that smells like rotting flesh when it blooms. No, too scary.
I saw 2 wolves, nose to nose, but now you've all said about the kitty face I can see that, too.
mab- my thoughts are with you and malka- we will be hoping for her(?) speedy recovery
Speaking of kitties, I have 3 hungry ones to feed. I'll check in for a progress report in a few minutes, GW, then I gotta go to bed. Tomorrow's an up b4 5am day!
ren- I LOVE HER
Amorphophallus titanum - the rotting flesh plant.
gw- that's sweet- kissing wolves- who knew
i thought it was a kitty face w. lavender paint for highlights.... yes dr - that's what i see....
mmm, pretty (smelly) flowers... (a la Homer Simpson)
thanks bb - she's kind of having a bad hair day...
Amorphophallus - great word.
Wolves are fascinating in the degree of social interaction they demonstrate within the pack -- It part of why I love them so much
jac- thax for the suggestions- i'm not very flower literate, but damn you know some stuff and your moma hooked you up with the morphine- could there be a connection :)
LOL, beebee.
i don't see a kitty face- what's wrong with me?
GW, I know you're getting into the puzzle and all (HINT - think words with "oi" in them!), but your comment reminded me of David Eddings Begariad series (a five book set plus two more about major characters)- ever read it?
Oh Malka kitty get better.
beebee, keep sniffing the flower, you'll see a cat...eventually...
hahaha JB
jb- lol, but i can't work those dot pictures either- i never get to see the good stuff
beebee - tilt your head to the right and squint a little and then you'll see the kitty.
bb: she will be fine. the tx is non-invasive and has no side affects, and they treat them like royalty at the clinic (each cat gets a two-story 'condo'). I may not be alright, however.
bb = stare the the point where the noses meet - ...optical ....
we'll be here for you mab....
jac- i see it i see it- yeaaaaaaa for me- that's a big head kitty- thax
How long does she have to stay, Mab?
JB -- Oh yes! my favorite line from the series -- right after Brill is thrown over the parapet --- Belgarath -- Where's Brill? Silk (innocently)-- Trying to learn to fly last I saw him Then they heara thud, followed a few seconds later by a second thud Silk (looking over the parapet) -- Does bouncing count?
I just refreshed, and I still see regular barbie. Am I supposed to see something else, ren?
good going bb.....!!!!!
barbie w/ a yellow daisy in her hair????
federal guidlines require that she stay three days to allow some of the radioactivity wear off.
Eddings did his characters very well, and I love the repartee. Did you read Polgara and Belgarath's books, too? (Goodbye Brill - keep bouncing!)
mab- i'm glad, but it's always so hard on them when they have to be away from home and us- my "son" goes to the groomers every week and when i pick him up he acts like its been a week when its only been 3 hours
REFRESH to see Amorphophallus titanum (one type) on my icon. Aptly named! LOL. (9 feet high!)
Read them all, however I did not like the Sapphire Knight books -- they just seemed a little too heavy on the whole "Men have no free will because they love women" theme However -- the Redemption of Althalus was great!
Having refreshed at least 10 times, I now have Jac's last image (pre-amorphophallus) and bb, but still regular barbie. Random, completely random is my computer.
jac- very cool
morning everyone. stuck on two e's ed7/44 & et6/18?
I'll have to read that after Terry Prachett's Thud; I started Althaeus (um, you know) once but couldn't get into it. Yeah, Sapphire Knight seemed to me the last squeezings out of the fruit of the Belgariad.
Mab - just Google the plant name under 'images' and you'll see lots of different sorts. I'll be putting my own flowers from my garden back on soon.
Ow! Scrappy's so hungry, he's started on my hair. AFK for a few, folks!
mab- i will describe ren's barbie to you- she has long yellow flowing hair and a yellow daisy on the right side of her hair. mab- did you change your icon or am i going crazy?
hey is
ed7/44 - someone who instructs to as to enlighten, esp. morally.
et6/18 - French word for 'star'.
Sometimes if I change my icon, I will get the other new images as well. I haven't. Must get to know my cache.
