Well, off to bed. See you tomorrow night. Have a good one everyone.
G'nite doxy --sleep well (*hug*)

evening All!
nite doxy
Night doxy. I'm waiting to see what this one looks like. I have to go out of town to a funeral tomorrow and I don't know if I'll have time to play.
There's a pegleg!

Only 178 today -- definitely more attainable with limited time to work :)
Hey, debs. How have you been?

Hiya Chick.... long time no see .. I'm fine thanks.. You OK?
Doing well. I've opted for no sleep the last couple of nights 'cause hubby isn't home to nag me about it:). I'm free to babble at will (responsibilities notwithstanding).
Hello, brandyjack.
Morning.
HI sprite! (*HUG*)
Hey sprite!
Its great to see you.. I wondered where you had been...
Morning Sprite, Woulf... Jack
Been mostly babbling in the day and usually don't have time to chat. I've become a regular chatterbox this week, though.
How's things been with you?
*Extra hug for Woulf* Thanks for the welcome, guys :) Woulf, no 'pirate', but also not the dutch word for someone who drives dangerously: wegpiraat. It's close though. Weg = road.
g8/60
Not too bad.. haven't been too good health wise so haven't finished many of these.. Normally just come in have a go at finding some of the big words then nine times out of ten never finish...lol
HI Debs (*Hug*) It figures -- just as people show up, Seb awakens demanding his first late meal of the night ;D Toodles for now :)
R 7/32
Enjoy, Woulf :D
Bye, GreyWoulf:) Give the baby a snuggle from us:)
Is your health better now? I hope so. If not, I hope you feel better soon.
Hello, dalmation
Afraid it can't get any better... but can remain the same if I'm careful.. But I'll be fine.. only good ones die young...lol
(((Debs))) Is babbling careful enough? In that case we can support you in being careful ;)
Hi Chick - awesome icon!
It's OK.. cept when I start banging my head on wall!...lol
Well, by all means be careful, babble wouldn't be the same without you {{{{XX}}}}
If that happens, yell for clues before you start banging! Usually there is someone here who can help... or we try together :)
Sometimes I feel like Atlas, so I thought it was an appropriate choice. I'm a single parent two weeks at a time (hubby is two weeks on in FL and two weeks home).
It's beautiful, smithchick. The icon I mean, not you having to do all by yourself.
Thankyou :)
It really jumped out at me. A lot of the things I googled were kind of cheesy looking, but this one was gorgeous.
What is the theme, by the way?
Mythological creatures, I think.
e8/50
Oops, make that mythical creatures. Since I just learned to do the icons, I'm having fun with them!
I am the boring one here, always the same icon. I admire all the creativity though!
I love your icon, though. Does it have special significance?
It's titled "the devil may care". Brings out the different parts of my personality very nicely, I always think ;) A loving heart with a devilish streak.
Fun! I need to look for a special one to use when the theme is too hard for me to interpret.
I like to play with the icon to make it fit the theme, but not today. Too hard for me, lol. Got to go for a bit, get my kids started and fed. Back in a bit, happy hunting all!
See you later, if I don't crash before then.
s7/36 s7/32
Take care Chick.... keep in touch Nice to see you again :)
Cya Sprite.. sorry thought it was Chick going... lol take care
Thanks, anyway Debs:)
n8/50
Morning/evening everyone :)
Hello, lotti.
hello to all...
Hi Blaze :)
Hey blaze...
Back! Hi Blaze :)
hi sprite... I was grid locked did not see the post at first.... how are you?
Not too well, actually. I am home from work, burned out, and the company doctor is giving me a hard time. Wants me back, long before my own doctor will give her okay. It's all politics and money nowadays, people just don't count. But now that I am home, I do better with my kids and love, so I know I am doing the right thing!
Stick to your guns if you can sprite:). I stay home with mine and even though they are trying, I wouldn't change it.
Well, I've got 40 left to find tomorrow and that's it for me tonight. Exhaustion has set in. Bye everyone! Hope to be back tomorrow night.
I will concentrate on my getting well again and on my family. When that's all okay, it is time to consider work. And consider it hard, because there must be better ways to earn the money we need!
Bye smithchick! Sleep well :)
See ya Smithchick :) Hi Sprite :)
Hi Lotti! How are you?
Sprite, how old are you???????
Hi Tella. 39, why?
Sprite! I am only 11 !!!
You will find people of all ages here, Tella. ;)
I`m good thanks....Hope things start going better your way. I`m job hunting at the mo and i got an application form the other day with one of the pre requisites reading "This job must come first", so i threw it straight in the bin. Like you and any other normal mum, my family come first!!! :)
do you know anyone who is 11 I am too bad for your age!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!
Hi Tella.....my daughter is 9. There are some 13 and 14 year olds who play on here :D
I believe we have kids playing here that are 13 years old. Well, play along and have fun, Tella :) Lotti: that's exactly it! Let your job come first and nobody will thank you for it. But we will blame ourselves if our family suffers from it. I also throw away jobs that say: "No 9 to 5 mentality" or "we are looking for someone who can handle stress and can juggle around 10 things at a time" :D
I`m with you there Sprite!! These are people who then wonder why they have rebellious kids.
And those rebellious kids grow up to be stressed and unhappy people, so I'd much rather give my kids something to build on for the rest of their lives. If need be, I will quit. No way they will make me go overboard like this again.
My F6/27 niece is in the grid :)
It sounded to me like they`ve given you a really hard time since before christmas. Unfortunately people are obsessed with money......so they think they`ll get more by piling work and stress onto others!!
Morning all, hi lotti. Everyone healthy today I hope.
You are so right. Stupid, but it took me some time to see it. Things have a tendency to appear normal after a while, I guess. Well, as long as I am still crying half of the day for no reason at all, I will consider myself unfit to work. We'll take it from there.
Hi macadam.
Stay at home and enjoy it for now Sprite....let everyone else stress and worry at work without feeling guilty, cos they were all willing to let you suffer. Then when you are well, milk it a little bit more ;) Morning mum......they`re not up yet :)
Family first every time.At work the old saying "Don`t let the ba***rds grind you down" remains true.
I'll will take your advices to heart, lotti and macadam :D
Errr... advises, that is ;)
LOL :D
Sprite that is awful... I had a similar situation many years ago..(when I was a bit younger).. I quit my job to solve the problem..... that does not work for everyone. Sorry for the delay I needed to debrief after a nother chaotic night....
Aww Blaze, things still not sorted with you and yours ??
It is a never ending roller coaster ride.... mental illness is not pleasant...
I might be forced to do the same, Blaze. And if it comes to that, I will. No job is worth feeling miserable and letting your family suffer! I am a slow learner, but a thorough one... got the message now ;)
Look after yourself sprite. You took a lot of emotional abuse at work because others chose to wear blinkers and ignore your needs. Now is your recovery time.
actually it is quite freeing and allows new opportunities to come to you. Family life is the core of our worlds for most of us......
Sprite it`s not a case of being a slow learner, you were being loyal and they took advantage!!
It's that loyalty, exactly. I am so baffled (almost typed babbled, lol) to realise I still tend to feel guilty for being sick at home and not working. Last year, when I had been ill and returned, some of my colleagues had decided I wasn't really ill and they started a hate campaign. Ignored me, hid my work papers, stuff like that. Somehow that really did me in, and even though it is sorted out now, it still hurts. Together with the work overload, I just snapped, I guess.
Sprite..... it sounds like you need to be putting out resumes .....You are worth more home than any day at work,,
Thanks :D That really helps. I will write that down and read it at least 3 times a day.
that should read at home
hi everyone! Sprite? stay at home if you have to - only you can know whether you can cope with going to work or not. The same thing happened to me a few years ago and I ended up leaving the job - health and happiness is more important than anything else, at the end of the day!
I agree with Blaze!! It also sounds to me like they don`t deserve you Sprite! Must get a coffee back in a mo :)
Hi Atalante! You are right and I will. I will find better ways to support the family income and I will let my family and health come first from now on. To hell with all doctors who sell themselves to companies and forget they are treating people.
Here here Sprite......we support you...... be frugal and be happy.... like I said New opportunities will come to you...
Companies need people for their purposes, not the purposes of keeping people emotionally and physically well! Its selfish - which almost goes against our instincts these days - but you have to put yourself (and your family) first sometimes! No job whatever the pay is worth crying all day and feeling so stressed
That's how it works in life, right Blaze? First you must make room for new things, and then they will come to you. Not the other way around. I will have to remember that too and not be frightened. I sometimes am.
Ricky van shelton (counrty singer) has a songs "if they turn out the lights" ******* we still have each other... and really what more do we need....
clues for n 8/50 Please
Hears to that! Thanks guys, for your sympathy and support. It really, really helps. I go take a shower (great things, showers, make you feel better and no one can see you crying, lol). Thanks again and see you all later. *hugs*
*hughug* sprite dear
((Sprite))
big ((cuddle)) - tell them to FO and shut their pie-holes! You are worth more than that!
N8 is a (-) particle. Sounds like a pokemon.
well said MRP
Thank you, mrP :)
thank you... I was looking in the wrong direction......
(((xx))) See ya Sprite :)
How many words today folks and does any one have the letter breakdown i.e. a x 3 etc

Jonboy, the list was posted at 12.06 :) Hi Bubbles how are you??
I'm good thanks. You?
Yeah good thanks. Hows Bobsta ??
His ok, quite tired at the moment, his on earlys at his new job and has to be up at 4.45am, and isn't resting on his day off as his working on the house. He's probably suffering from a hangover this morning too!!!
jon did you get 'my' list yesterday?
Aww Bless!! I forgot about the house....Hows it coming on??
Really well thanks, still loads to do and still looks like a building site, we've been really lucky as dad's doing all our plastering, electrics and stuff, so its saved alot of money. Hopefully moving in in about 4-5 weeks. I'm so excited!!! How's lola & everyone?
Oh wow good luck....hope it comes on in leaps and bounds!! Lola seems fine, I said a quick hi last night. Said hi to Anj too for the first time in weeks. Everyone else seems the usual, but Miyavi is rarely here now as she`s bagged herself a BF bless her!!
thanks i'm sure it will, we've both worked so hard on the house it will be nice to enjoy it. How sweet, not sure i could do the dating thing again!!! Glad everyone is ok. Are you going to this babblers convension?
(*Fingers crossed*) Hopefully!! I think i may have talked the hubby into it, so all being well we will be there!! :D Thats if it`s in Birmingham.......not sure we could do London.
i have no idea where it is, i know bob mentioned birmingham.
That would be much better and easier to get to for us. I`m really looking forward to it!
me too, i think someone should sort out a date.
I think your poor chap has volunteered himself now!!
it will be fun to see him try to organise it. Maybe he'll underdstand when i say how bad it is for me to arrange meetings at work!!!
LOL.....You`re gonna make him sweat a bit then!!! :)
absolutely!!!!!
;o) LOL!!!!
Hi - any one home?
Hi Dianne.
hi di!
Hi Dianne :) Still here, but not for too much longer :)
How's everyone doing?
I`m OK thanks.
15 words to go!!... found that 8's on my own today! Miracle!!
43 left to go :)
Yay...well done MrP :)
23 left to go for me. Stuck on a couple of F words but still hunting them.
65 for me.I`ve been in and out of the room .Must concentrate now.
Off in shower and then to get the Lillster!! See you soon mum :) See you later everyone :)
TTFN lotti.
I am FINISHED!! Yippie!!
MRP - congrats ! Still 6 to go for me.
Hi everyone. I keep coming and going today. Still 97 words to go!!
I have noted that this is a 'transformers' grid... some of those 8's are names of the robots for sure!
Congrats MrP I need coffee then I might think more clearly.
Hi Ishult.
mac... I need wine so I don't think at all!! LOL
Ishult! how goes it?
A pleasing thought but if I`m going out with lotti I`d better not.Parents embarras their children enough!!!! ;0)
I'm good thanks, busy at work so if I don't always respond, don't be offended.
The kids! Yes, love to embarass them!
gotta go... sleep to be had, work to be done in the morning... enjoy the puzzle everyone! BYE!! ((wave))
Got the coffee, back to the grid with hope!!!!
Bye MrP
Done, done, done - phew. Anyone need any hints?
Great stuff Dianne.I`ll battle on a bit longer. Thanks for the offer though.
mac - I'll go do a bit of work and check back in a little.
Cheers Dianne.
Got to go now .Thanks Dianne.
morning all any clues for the ro 7/36 please
ro7/36 - President Reagan's name (shortened version) plus beverage (shortened) plus Jennifer (shortened)
And it's not spelt with a J!
Hi everybody...looks like fun to be had by all. How's it going?
any clues around for the go8?
Hi folks. I'm going to have to get a gr4/7 on my imagination; apart from seeing 'pirates' in this grid, I keep seeing 'Ferengi'!
(That's 3 words you'll get from my last post.:-))
The pirates' drink is in the grid. (gr4/8)
Hi Jac...I'm afraid I didn't understand what you mean about the clues.
Got that 1 ty.
Hi Gramma - gr4/7 (hold tightly) , gr4/8 (pirates' drink), ra4/4 (rodents).
TY jac, you make me gr4/6...:)
thanks for the clue Haz got it at last
any clues for the j?
miametro, Rolling Stones lead singer, lose one of the middle letters ...
thanks chessy, never heard of that! finding this one a bit tough today
yes, it's not the easiest grid today :/
Thanks for saying that chessy! This is making me feel quite stupid. Usually get most of the long ones pretty quickly, but have none of them this time.
Any clues for the 8? have been looking for the e and the r for ages with no success.
Have I mentionned how much I hate re's? You cannnot predict in any logical way which things one can do again and which not!
Eva - I'm with you on the 're' words. Hate the little perishers. Def. for the er8/50 if you want to try googling is "widely distributed genus of composite herbs having flower heads resembling asters"
I know! I'd love to see enable's explanation of how it works out re's
I don't think there is a R 8 word. there is: go 8/60 ne 8/50 er 8/50
Just got the go8. It's the moulding at the top of a column. Go6/30 + opposite of 'out'.
The er8 was easy for me but only because I have some in my garden!:-)
chessy-when i googled the definition I got a scientific name beginning with an a-but couldn't find anything with an e. What am I doing wrong?
Thank you all! Haven't found the words yet, but feel comforted by the help. Off hunting....
good morning babblers!!
Eva - for the er8 - try googling 'Mexican Daisy' or 'Fleabane'.
Morning ex-Birthdaygirl.:-) How did your day go?
fleabane? does that have the properties it sounds like it should have?
Thanks Jac! To my rescue as always. There's not a h___ in h___that i would have gotten that or the go word without the definitioins. The g word is a nice one though. There should be gargoyles above the go______
hehe...went well, nothing too exciting yesterday, but ill be doing some celebrating this weekend as well! BF took me out to dinner last night after sending me a bouquet at work (which STILL smell amazing!!) and then he gave me 2 cards (always 1 funny one and 1 romantic one) and told me what my gift is -- he got us scheduled to go horseback riding next weekend! :D
y/w, Eva. Atalante - Fleabane was used to treat dysentry, skin ulcers and other skin complaints, and,if burnt, the smoke from it drives away fleas and other insects.
Evanadine - Sounds good.
hello everyone!
ER 8: ER + first 2 letter of house eskimos live in +2nd vowel + last 3 letters of ne 8/50.
Seeing as you're all doing this puzzle I assume that, like me and Paul, you tend to make words from any random letters you see anywhere? Paul and I are always making words up from car number plates, for instance. However, I think I capped it all last week when in the doctor's surgey. He'd got one of those eye-charts up and, as I was leaving, I pointed to it and said, 'That says 'chocolates'!' He was a locum and looked at me a bit strangely. Bet he's left a note for my regular doctor saying I need phsychiatric help! LOL.
*surgery *psychiatric Wish this log had an 'edit' button!
Hi Temple!
jac -- when i was little, whenever my family was going on a long car ride, we always used to play thel icense plate game! sometime we changed the rules to keep the game interesting, but it was always making words from the letters on a license plate. so i cant see one without trying!!
hi jacs : )
breakfast time! back in a bit!
See you, Evanadine. Lunch time here. I've got to do some baking, too - Madeira cake, ginger biscuits and double choc muffins.
jacs = howmuch does your paul wiegh? LOL
Temple - There are 4 of us in the house! LOL. Plus regular visitors.
oatmeal + soda...breakfast of champions! hehe
ANY HELP ON THE LAST RE 5/14?
ARB - what you might have to do to a sailing ship.
Yup - thank you -- finished me up
*~*~*~*FIREWORKS FOR ARB*~*~*~*~
Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou
y/w ARB. I've changed my icon to one of my own drawings of Pegasus and The Unicorn. REFRESH to see it.
wow jac -- you drew that?!
I did, Evan. You can't really see the detail as the original drawing is quite large. Doesn't look too bad though. Did you draw your icon?
heh, not a chance -- i have the artistic ability of a caveman
Evan - I believe some of those cave paintings are pretty good!:-)
i love drawing, but i always get very frustrated that what i draw never looks on the paper the way it did in my head...heh
Evan - That sounds a bit like going to the hairdresser. You take a picture (or even a person) along that has the style you want... do you get what you want? Do you heck!
thats wonderful Jac!
Morning, all!
Thanks, Atalante.
Morning, Jera.
do you draw a lot?
mornin jera
I used to, Atalante, even illustrate for magazines etc., but I hardly ever draw now.
really? wow! professional! *looks up in awe*
I've always admired those who can draw things that look like, well, the intended thing. I'm more of an abract gal myself... at best, primitive... people think my kids drew my artistic strivings, LOL
Jera - I love children's drawings. I like it when they do the Christmas postage stamps using them.
Those are always awesome, I love indulging in that sort of charity...
Did you have a nice birthday, evanadine? That was you yesterday, correct? Did you see my gift? I went all out, LOL!
it was me yesterday -- remind me what your gift was...there were so many i couldnt remember them all!
I can't believe it's taken me so long to find the first wi4/8 - I drink enough of it! *Slaps self with fish.*
It was a huge honkin' diamond necklace... big pear-shaped pendant with smaller one all along the side...
oh, hehe, thats what im seeing for you now (reminds self to refresh!) its GORGEOUS!
Oh even better... you do get to see it! I'm glad because it wasn't a keeper picture I've already deleted it from my files...
diamonds ARE a girls best friend, after all! hehe
Hi all!
Hi Toes.
I have one of my more recent drawings now :)
mornin TSM!
I had a tough time hitting my halfway mark... I don't allow myself to chat or cheat until halfway... gonna need brandyjack's list pretty soon though...
Atalante -- thats great!
its a bit *squashed* lol. I never do *square* pics that work perfectly for babble pics!
Atalante - love it! Wonderfully menacing.
It's been a LONG time!
How is everyone today?
hi TSM!
Recovering from the flu, TSM... my daughter is still under the weather... home sick today, to get a long weekend, poor thing!
Maybe we should have a 'your own drawings' or 'self-portraits' theme day? Could be fun!
sounds like a good one jacula -- we will hafta tell babbler whenever she is on next!
oooh yes!
Right - Whoever sees Babbler first let's her know. It's a deal.
That sounds like fun!
Aw I am sorry Jera :(
and anyone too good at drawing has to find an old horrible "omg I cant believe I'm showing this to anyone" pic to make everyone else feel talented!
*lets her know. Damned apostrophe jumped under my finger! LOL.
It's actually nice & quiet, hubby is working late shift tonight so he is sleeping... herself has no choice but to do her mouse impersonation or else... so Mommy is Babbling in peace!!
Hello - any help with fa 5/20 please
I've got 19 words left to find (and just realised I've got no 'ne's' yet). I'm going off to do that baking etc. BBL.
Babbler had better come back soon... no themes posted past the 13th... I'm assuming V-Day will be hearts or something...
fa5/20 - Think of 'Oliver!' Otherwise sounds like you're smoking a cigarette.
bye jac hi jera, toes, atalante, faeire...
I keep trying to spell sangria for some extremely odd reason... must be some residual damage from my fever...
jera -- scroll lower on her profile...shes got TONS posted!
Hi Temple - you just said a word in the puzzle (*^_*^)
Oh really, thanks evana... I make charts to keep up (like with everything else in my life)... also keeping track of my ratings progress...
yeah, she got every through the end of march, it looks like...then a few sporadically after that...
Jacula - thanks I found it.
178 words? Wow I will never finish... Be back in a bit. I need a snack
and i didn't even have it! LOL! sorry!
Morning everyone!
Temple - imagine that. So how about a sprinkle of fa 6/27 to get you going. LOL
that should be fa 6/27 dust.*
thank fa6 person! LOL!
Mornin' all. Happy day after your birthday evanadine. Work will get in the way of my torture, er, I mean pleasure babbling today. Darn! Hate it when that happens! Hope y'all have a good day--will probably be v-e-r-y late posting what I consider to be words! Dr_God and I don't always see things the same! Ta ta.
Yikes, my theme list is done... sorry, I also wandered off to do some Girl Scout stuff as well... planning a big Birthday Party Celebration at the Library in March!!
Morning mom.
Smith-Good Morning to you sweetie.
Hi Mom :)
Good Morning, fa****!!
Hey fa****, I just read your bio and from your list of things you like to collect, we'd get along famously!!
Smith - you are very quick today. I'm thinking it's going to be a very good day for you. fa 6 dust for you girlie. sprinkle*sprinkle*sprinkle* ^_^
Smith - oh yeah. Well lets go shopping then. Why are we still here? LOL
*jumps up and down waving one hand wildly* I want some fa6 dust, too!!!
Hope so. I'm going on about 13 hours of sleep for the last three nights. Apparently sleep deprivation agrees with me.:) Went to bed last night with 40 left to find and now I've got 22. We're still here because it's cheaper for one thing!
Jera *sprinkle*sprinkle*sprinkle* would you also like to go shopping with me and Smithchick? Jewelry.......
Jera, what's your icon? And yours evan and ToeSock?
Love the jewelry. Especially when hubby makes me especially angry!
Sometimes I pick fights just so I can feel justified in buying some:)
Smith - *I want to go shopping but NOooooooooo* ok another time then.
I'm up for shopping too. Where shall we go? TJ Maxx is a personal favorite!
Jewelry - shoes - purses - clothes - chocolate
Chocolate with raspberry, yum!
TJ Maxx is good or we could just hit a Mall. Mall of America maybe. Minnesota. I'm in Michigan I could be there but this evening.
I do lots of online shopping to tell the truth.
Arkansas malls aren't especially exciting, I'm afraid. Of course shoes are shoes anywhere you buy them.
I just discovered cottage cheese with raspberry jam is great.
I go through spurts where I shop a lot and put us in the poor house, and then I reform for a while. I'm trying to be good right now because we're going to be building our dream house as soon as we get the credit card that I charged up paid down.
When I'm being good on my diet, my favorite breakfast is cottage cheese with either strawberries or raspberries cut up in it. Never get tired of it!
fi4/10 and fi5/22?
Smith - my goodness we are alike. I'm also hiding my credit cards right now. I plan to put a new roof on my house and an addition this summer. I'm going to come out another 24' x 30' extend my bedroom and add another bath and walkin closet.
fi4 piece of land under the feudal system
Because there can never be too much closet space for a shopper. There must be room for the shoes, purses and clothes. My closet rod fell off the other day because it had to much hanging from it:)
Smith - yes dear when the closet rod falls you know you have a problem. LOL
Okay, I'm tired of working on this dumb l. Here's what I have: le4/4, lo4/4, lo5/10, lo4/6, lo4/4, lo4/4 Any help with the missing one?
Smith - a friend of mine in Kentucky gave me a curio cabnet last week and I went and got it (plus visited with Mom and bros. and sis's) but I have no place to put it. I it sitting in my garage right now.
It might be time for an intervention. Except I'm on the wagon right now.
wish I could help with the Le's - not there yet just getting started.
That's about like our house. We moved about 18 mos. ago from a 2100 sq. ft. house w/ a two-car garage to a 1680 sq. foot house with no garage or laundry room or attic storage or anything. We had to build a big metal storage building out back to stick our stuff in and had to wait until it was finished to move in. Crazy...
Sorry, my husband had to commandeer the computer for work stuff... My icon is Minimus the Mouse riding a Pegasus
You are missing the lw4/8 - a coin
Love it, jera!
There are some gorgeous icons on here today. I thought about having Medusa because when I used to have long hair, I looked like her in the morning. Dratted curly hair.
Smith - I live alone so I have 1000 sq ft plus a full basement plus a 2 car garage but I have lots of over night guest (family from out of town) and I need more room but I do like where I live so I'll just expand on that.
My daughter wants me to start a Latin Club using the Minmus books... I might be game when flu season is over...
Thanks ho hum. I never would have thought to try that even monkey-typing!
Love the color gray!!
morning, folks!
yr w/c smithchick - it took me forever.
Greetings, hurshy, how are you today?
Hey hurshy, how goes it? I missed all of you guys yesterday. I had to go help my mom and didn't get to finish until last night.
Hurshy - (((((((((x)))))))) goodmorning.
Smith - what is your icon? I just changed mine again. Just because I can.
I haven't been around much this week, either... trying to finish early & improve my rating, for some reason...
The more I chat, the later I finish... sometimes not at all! Can't imagine why...
Mine is atlas holding the weight of the world on his shoulders. Hubby just left for his next two week stint, so I was feeling woe-is-me when I picked it the other day.
Thats what I thought it was. Very cool. Just try not to stress too much.
It takes me forever too. When hubby is home (he's two weeks on -out of town- and two weeks off) he's underfoot and frowns on me spending all of my time babbling and not doing housewifely stuff. Usually I try to keep the peace by finishing quickly.
Hubby will be home soon and Smith will be all happy and smiley and we won't hear from you for a couple of days and thats understandable.
Bah! Housewifely stuff, indeed!
It actually isn't too bad. We've settled into a routine. It used to be really awkward when he came home because I'm using to being the only one running the show. Every once in a while he pretends like he's going to be in charge of the kids. I think to myself, I don't even think so buddy.
Hello :)
Housewifely stuff is vastly overrated!
Greetings, Yoink!
Housewifey stuff and exactly what would that be????? Laundry - Dishes - Vacuum - Dust ?????? Hubbies can also do those chores believe it or not.
Hi, yoink! Actually, it will probably a lot quieter and more peaceful around babbleland when he comes back:)
I don't mind doing the household chores, since hubby brings home the nice paycheck! That's fair to me...
My hubby is pretty good about doing dishes and once in a while he'll vacuum or sweep, but that is about the extent of it. He likes to be outside doing mysterious activity that never seems to result in any concrete results.
Smith - no - we love you - but we want you and your man to be happy and you do what you need to to make that happen.
I hear you, Jera. If he wasn't off earning a good living, I wouldn't be able to stay home and be here for my kids. Especially important since he isn't even in the same country with them half of the time.
good morning & TGIF...I have finally make the VILLAGE ELDERS...(the crowd goes wild!!!!!)
Good morning.
TY faerie, that's very sweet {{{{X}}}
man, work really does get in the way of my having a good time at the office... hehe
Jera - heck yeah. When he's the one bringing home the bacon. You bet. I'd settle for do house work any day.
oh, thanks for the greetings, folks. sorry - when i first post, i haven't even started often, so then i go nuts finding words and forget to look and see who's said hello. but hello back to you all, and i'm doing well. slept good last night, which is the key!!!
Woohoo, way to go Christa! Hey bunny!
Where does he go, smithchick? I'm in a nosy mood this morning... my husband is a computer engineer, information keeping for Department of Education...
LOL, evan. What is sleeping well, hurshy? I'm not familiar with that concept...
Christa - congrats and Bunny welcome.
So Evan, is the BF still a BF or a fiance?
My only problem with housework is being crippled... sometimes it hurts! So then I take a break &... oh, I don't know... play on the computer, LOL!
He is a pilot so he goes all over. He is based in Miami and spends most of his time in Antigua. Which, believe it or not, he hates. He's the type that likes to stay busy and when he is there it is a lot of hurry up and wait, which he hates.
Hurshy, I do the same thing, so now I just don't say hi until I'm ready to chat a bit... no one's the wiser!
well, for me, it involved going to bed at 11:15, waking up only 2 or 3 times during the night and falling right back asleep, and getting up at 7:30.
How are you crippled, is it something that I can aspire to so I can take breaks, too? (speaking of nosy)
Sounds frustrating, smithchick... but a pilot! What a cool job (except the hurry up & wait stuff)!
jera - i would do that but (and you're all going to hate me after i say this) i like to post before i start so that when i finish i can see how long it took me.
Since I've replaced my shopping obsession with Babble obsession, I usually don't go to bed until 1:30 or 2:00 then I'm up at 6:30 (well, not counting the 10 minutes of snooze time).
Jera - while your on break how about another quick spin in the fa 6/27 dust sprinkle*sprinkle*~*~*~*~*
Oh no, not the worth it kind of crippled, sorry... I have spina bifida (I'll tell you more if you want), so my legs are kind of haywire a lot of the time. Losing 50 pounds would help, but it's hard to do aerobics when you're crippled! Darn that catch-22...
Now why would we hate you for that, hurshy? We're all just as neurotic, huh everybody? Jera- he really loves the actual flying part!
Smith - do the two of you travel alot?
*dances in the fa6 dust... taking all the magic she can get*
wow, jera - it's so weird how with the internet you can "see" someone every day, and not know major facts about them.
It's one of those things that it sounds weird to just blurt out... but I have no problem discussing it if & when it comes up...
Not really. He used to fly for Tyson and I got to go with him a couple of times to Cabo San Lucas when there was extra room on the plane, but now he has a different job. We've gone to Colorado skiing a couple of times, but that's about it. We still have school kids at home. This summer I spent two weeks in Guam with my sister and we went to Palau and the Phillipines. It was awesome!
of course, jera. completely understand.
So is there anyone else out there who would like to share as Jera as today? You are amazing Jera.
Especially since I left kids home with hubby!
*wishes she could go somewhere exotic... having never been out of the country in her life*
Morning babbleers. I'm going to try focusing on grid today and not allow myself to be distracted. Right.
Well, my tragedy is that my firstborn died when he was 2. He drowned in my parents' swimming pool. That was 15 years ago this summer. When we have statues, I picked a cherub because he looked like one. White blonde, curly hair and blue eyes and chubby. Gorgeous baby.
Yeah, good luck with that mab:)
I'm supose to go to Ixtapa Mexico this Dec. with my friend John. He goes fishing there every year. Got my passport and ticket.
wow, smithchick. i'm so sorry.
Morning, Queen Mab! Yeah, right... I'm always shocked when my word list is still the same after a run of chatting...
There's some great shopping in Mexico, faerie. Lots of silver...
And you have to buy the pure vanilla...
Smith - oh no - not your Baby - God must have needed him back.
Oh how sad, smithchick... always heartbreaking to lose a wee one... 2 is such an angelic age...
and tequila
oh, smithie, what a tragedy. I'm so sorry.
Thanks, hurshy. Obviously, I'm a talker and that has helped a lot. Also, two months after he died, I took a Death and Dying class for my Soc. masters. It really helped though that sounds weird.
faeriekae - i'd be careful saying things like that - to some people it may be comforting, but to others it just makes them really mad at God...
smithchick - no, it totally makes sense that taking that class would help. maybe i'm the same kind of person, but i would bet that if i were in your shoes it would have helped me too.
Smith I lost a great niece this past spring "Katie" she was 6 and fell at church, hit her head and we lost her. But I know her mission was already complete here. So I'm sure your baby was also need back up there with the man.
Well, I never got mad at God. I just figured He had a reason that I didn't know or have to know. Now, I'm glad that I got to have him at all and when some of the crap that goes on in the world is happening, I'm glad he isn't here growing up in it.
faerie, that's awful. Such a weird fluke. It was probably hard for some of her family not to be bitter that it happened at church. But if you have to go, that's the right place to be, I guess.
hello everyone....head down trying to finish...but read the log....Jera my firstborn was spina bifida but he only lived for 10 days. Smithchick....I find it hard to imagine what you went through...it must have been so hard for all of you... did you feel afterwards that if your worst nightmare has happened then nothing else can harm you ?
smithchick - i know it's only fiction, but when anne of green gables had her first baby, she died after only a day or something. and she found, though, that as the years went by, the girl was growing up in her imagination, and she felt like she knew her anyway. i have always wondered if people would feel like that in real life.
Hurshy I understand what your saying but my faith is very strong or I Would Not Be Here Right Now. God is not ready for me yet or I would already be at his side. Long ago.
Hey karys. For a while I did, but then real life intruded and I discovered that there are different trials to go through. Marital probs, son molested by neighbor kid, bro-in-law got brain cancer, etc. Life never stops throwing curve balls at us.
Jeez Smith, you have such an upbeat and cheery attitiude all the time. I couldn't do it like you do to have been through that much.
well, that's great, faerie, and, mine is too - i only worry about the impact of such statements on those whose faith is not strong, and who would respond, "how could God need my baby more than I do? and if he does, then I hate him for it!"
Smith- child molesters should be wiped off the face of this earth and there is a special place in Hell for them. I have no doubt.
wow, i can't believe how much you guys have gone through.
Yeah, hurshy I kind of do that. I have a nephew six months older than Trey and one six months younger. It's fun to watch them and see where they're at and imagine. I work with the 12-18 yr. old girls at our church and they asked me once if he would have been a hottie! I really didn't know what to say to that. Beats me!
Oh Karys, so sad... how long ago was that? I haven't met many people older than me with SB, the surgery was rather new & many, many died from infections, especially if there was hydrocephalus & a shunt involved as well (like me).
Hurshy - you are so right I do need to watch what I say to other. Thank You.
I think some thing do give you more strength tho'...it's good you are so getting on with your life and that the tradegy did not take your spirit too.. my thoughts go with you :)
Well, this child molester was 13 and had been a victim himself, so it was hard to hate him. I felt sorry for him. My son was 8 at the time. I had the mom in me wanting to stomp his head into the ground, the counselor in me wanting to figure out why and how to fix him and the Christian in me wanting to reform him and feeling very sorry for him.
it does seem rather hard that things like molestation and abuse perpetuate themselves through the victims.
Well, I've discovered a sense of humor is the major factor in being strong enough to get through (well, next to faith, of course). Sarcasm is especially fun!
Jera ....it was more than 30 years agao now.....he was too badly affected ...he did have hydracephalus too...and would never have been able to have an unsupported life....its good to hear of success tho'...well done you :)
Smith - once again (foot in mouth) I didn't realize he was just a child himself. That's a tough one. I'm not sure how anyone would handle that.
I think you are very right in the humour bit...it helps in all sorts of ways
Karys, you have a really positive attitude, too. It isn't any easier to lose a ten-day old baby than it is to lose a 2 yr. old. I hope you've come out of worst end of it.
you must all be so strong. i tried volunteering at a domestic violence hotline once, and i couldn't do it. after just the first training session, i couldn't sleep for a week. people's cruelty to other people gets to me so much. most of the other people volunteering had been abused themselves, and it seems like having gone through stuff, they were so much stronger and more able to handle things than me.
After Trey died and I was beating myself up with ifs I had a dream that he had lived and was unable to communicate and he was really sad about it. That dream helped a lot. He lived for two days and had to be unplugged from life support.
Thanks, I try... I have done some counseling & it's amazing how just doing normal things gives kids & parents hope... I'm 37, happily married with 2 completely normal kids of my own... that's the moon for some people...
I was a Rape Advocate Companion for 12 years and I have seen alot of sick things but nothing can be worse than hurting a child.
Hurshy, I would love to volunteer my time in something like thta. My father has been abusing my other for 28 years, so I'm afraid that my advice would be a bit biased, get out, get out! Don't think that's what they need to hear. But good for you for trying!
Well, everyone is stronger than they realize. That's what I think. You just pick up the pieces and go on. Sometimes, the ones not around anymore are the ones that weren't strong enough to handle things.
I told myself that had my firstborn lived, then I would never had had my second one ( if that makes sense, I would have had another baby, but it wouldn't have been THAT one )
Hurshy - the Domestic Violence had to be a trip!!!!
I could never counsel violence victims... I would have to hunt down the attackers & kill them... bad karma for me, just the thoughts I have... we do make a point of donating to several shelters, both my family & my Girl Scout Troops
no, bunny, it sounds like you would be a good candidate to volunteer for that.
It's hard to see someone you love abused. Why do you stay? Get out! How can you love that person? How can you stay with them? Where's your self-respect? Etc.
i guess just psychologically, i can imagine dealing with disease, misfortune of various sorts - but when it comes to cruelty - it just overwhelms me. that is why all my nightmares involve people torturing me.
hurshy, I did volunteer work as an undergrad for a social work major, and I did it with a child abuse prevention hotline. Then I worked in long term care as an intern, and now I work as an intake specialist for protective services for children, the elderly and disabled, taking reports of abuse and neglect. I've learned to take care of myself emotionally and physically, because the job is very high stress with deadlines to be met.
Ok now I really need ER 4/4 - 8/50 and 4/4.....Any clues out there?
Karys, it's interesting, usually boys are much more adversely affected by SB... nobody really knows why... I have only known one guy with SB (from college) but I have several female friends with it
I hate to say it, but that's probably the extent of my generosity too. We donate grocery's every week to The Center of Hope, and money from our tax returns every year. That's about it, I volunteered with the hurricane relief, but I think I might try something more extensive when they twins start school.
i have one of the er4's - sea bird.
I did some of my internship in a Women's shelter for my counseling degree. It was hard. I really don't know if I could stay. On the other hand, there are other things I swore I would never put up with that I have.
er8/40....a garden plant
Mornin' all! Hey Hurshy, I just read your profile. About kids self esteem: I think the key is to help them find something that they are passionate about and encourage them to get as involved as they can (assuming it is a healthy activity). My 15 year old had poor self esteem when he was younger due to some learning differences. We discovered that he was interested in flying when he was 11. We let him take flying lessons and took him up whenever we could (still do). Oh, I should say that my husband is a private pilot (by hobby). Anyway, he just blossomed in every area of his life at that point because he finally found something that he enjoyed that he could do well. His self-esteem soared. Add that to your tip book.
I've been telling my mother for years to leave him, but she doesn't and I can't say why? Fear or love or a twisted mixture of both, but I'm not affective there. It's sad, my children aren't allowed to visit over there for more than an hour or two at a time.
Can anyone tell me how many words there are today? or provide a list? Thanks
Well, the best place that you can do service is in your home with your children. It's sounds to me like your doing plenty, bunny. Hopefully some day, your Mom will by happy and healthy and safe.
thanks, quick. my "kid" (not really mine) plays guitar, and he loves that and is very good - but somehow it hasn't had the same effect on him. when i ask him to list things he likes about himself, that is the ONLY thing he can come up with. somehow it hasn't permeated to the rest of his self-image.
hello everyone - Quick, it's interesting that you mention self-esteem. I am desperately trying to help my son with his low self-esteem. Still haven't found that "thing" he's truly interested in ...
Mica, 178
Thank you bunnyvicious
f5- do you have periods of time?
Unfortunately, pilot lessons are a bit beyond our budget, if we did something like that for one, we'd have to enrol the other four children as well. I tell them I love them every day, make sure when I have to harp on them I mention something I'm proud of. Constant praise is the best I can do, but it seems to work. My kids think very highly of themselves, but they are surrounded by a huge loving family!
go8/60? ne8/50?
the ridiculous thing is that he has SO MUCH going for him - he's smart, good looking, reasonably athletic, very musical, sensitive. but he is so focussed on his weaknesses that he doesn't see the good things.
Hey mica and lupe. I think that sense of humor helps again. My 13 yr. old is very small for his age (we held him back in K and he is still the smallest in his class), is a very cerebral kid (sense of humor way surpasses that of the normal pre-teen) and doesn't have great social skills (also severe ADHD) but we can laugh at him. I laugh at and with him all of the time and always have so he won't take himself too seriously.
I'll try again as this just disappeared into cyberspace. er4/4 - periods of time er8/50 - herb with aster-like flowers. Google 'Fleabane'. er4/4 - sea ea5/14.
Hurshy, What does he do with his guitar skills? Does he play in a band or maybe at church? Does he write lyrics too? Writing can be soooooooo cathartic (sp?). If he could somehow get recognized for his guitar playing, he might feel better about himself. Just a thought. I surely don't have all the answers!
Mica, if you go to Babblers Anonymous - under Friends of Babble box on the right of the screen - you'll see 'Stats' there. It gives you the first two letters of each word in the grid. You can copy and paste it. Extremely helpful.
yeah, he does write songs. but he's not interested in church, and not really in a position to form a band.
Also, lots of affection. Hugs and small touches all of the time.
bunny - we started a journal. every night, he has to write one thing about himself that he's proud of. He was hesitant to do it at first, but I told him that I would also write one thing that I am proud of (about him). I learned to make sure that he writes his entry first - otherwise, he will write "same" after my entry - sneaky booger he is!
That is awesome, Bunnyviscious! Your children are truly blessed to have you!
i have been encouraging him to participate in an upcoming talent show the school is having - but he's shy and doesn't really want to. i think it would be good for him but i can't force him, obviously.
Jacula - Thanks got all 3 er words now
lol Lupe, sneaky = smart! That's an excellent idea!
Maybe he can convert his songs to poetry and enter it in some school contests or something like that?
well, i feel better - i do a lot of the things you guys are recommending - i do try to just deluge him with positive reinforcement and affection.
y/w fa6/27kae. (LOL) I've got 2 words to go - both re's, of course!:-/
Does he have a buddy who would do it with him? So he could share the spotlight and not feel so vulnerable?
hi smith - my son also has adhd. He has to learn to laugh at himself. right now he sees that as a form of criticism and reacts very negatively to anyone laughing at him I'm trying to get him to not be so hard on himself.
jacs - do you have any clues for the g8 and the n 8 please?
Smithchick, You are so right. We tend to forget as they get older that they still need our physical affection (we especially tend to stop doing that with boys). My husband also makes a point to hug our boys a lot and tell them how much he loves them and is proud of them.
well, originally, a couple of his friends were going to sing while he played the guitar. but now one of them has had to leave school (depression), and i guess the plan is off.
Lupe, my theory is if he's used to me laughing at him and laughing at himself, it won't bother him so much. Of course, that means I have to laugh at myself, too. I tell him he's weird but that's okay because our whole family is weird and we love him anyway!
go8. It's the moulding at the top of a column. Go6/30 + opposite of 'out'.
g8 builds from the g6 just before it. add two letters to the end.
I am suspicious that my son might be a touch autistic, has some signs of Aspergers... the testing people need to get a move on so we can get this settled before he starts Kindergarten!
Of course, he sees me being weird so he nows I'm not lying!LOL
Knows, whatever
my kid has ADD, and doesn't really acknowledge it. so the things that he has trouble with because of ADD, he sees as just him being lazy and blames himself a lot more than he should.
Hi everyone :) Temple ne8 opp of possitive drop the ive and add mans name.......one on here called***cook
Quick, that's a subject in our house. We have four girls and a boy. Stephen hugs and kisses teh girls every night and tells him he loves them, but our son, he punches his fist and says "night dude". I would like it if he would show him more affection.
BV, when I have to nag or scold, I always tell my kids that if I didn't love them I wouldn't care... they can appreciate that!
ne8/50 - An electron with a negative charge, as contrasted with a positron.
Lupe, My younger son also has ADHD and is extra sensitive like yours. We have to be ridiculously careful NOT to laugh at him. He doesn't get the fact that we really are only laughing with him because he isn't laughing. I think that hypersensitivity comes with being gifted as well. Our youngest is very smart for his age as are a lot of ADHD kids.
smith - I try to laugh at myself (there are so many things to laugh at) . I hope he tries to do that same with himself. Right now it's rough. If he even thinks he's being singled out or made fun of, he shuts down.
ne8 sounds like a cheesy sci-fi cartoon villain, LOL
thanks jacs! and lotti - how are u?
LOL it really does, Jera!
Eh, I say the same things to my kids that my parents said to me, and I didn't listen then...sooooo. Do the best you can and it'll get you where you need to go, my daily motto!
Good thanks....how are you??
I need to let Max outside (my shih-tzu) and grab a Pepsi be right back.
Why is orlon not a word? It it copyrighted??
my situation is a bit different because this is not my own son, he's a student. he moved in with us so i could help him out more, so i've only had him for a few months. but even in that time, i think my efforts have helped him, so that's something.
Quick - you are so right! That is the only way I was able to crack a smile out of him during a very rough period recently. I talked to him about the super high scores he received after taking the school tests and when I explained what the scores meant, I could see how proud of that he was. He even mentioned to the teacher how his scores were so high!
I've got a counseling degree and license, but still didn't know that my son is entitled to a 504 plan at school.I finally met with his teachers last month and we laid out the concessions that need to be made for him. He gets extra time to turn things in (he wasn't let in on that little tidbit); his teachers ask him for his work (he has a terrible time being organized); he gets a cooling off period when he gets upset or mad (he completely shuts down for a good 30 minutes-low frustration tolerance); he gets preferential seating (the easier to stay focused); and a couple of other things. He doesn't need any test or assignment modifications, because he is very intelligent, but his lack of organizational skillls don't allow his grades to reflect that.
good for a friday! although i fear snow will keep me housebound again...
I'm done! 178 words, 2299 points. 0 words left to find. :-)
yay jacs! way to go!
*happy dance of doneness in jacula's honor* Huzzah for Jacula!!
Snowed in, how horrible! I would love to get some snow this year, it isn't in the cards though. It is rainy and cool for a change though, snuggly kinda day where you don't get out of your pj's.
Congrats, jacula!!!
My kids are praying for snow Temple, but so far so good for me.....I don`t think there has even been any forecast :)
WTG Jac!
Sorry to cut and run but I need to get back in the kitchen and stick my head in the oven... to see if things are cooked yet.
smith - we just amended our 504 plan about a week ago. He's entitled simply by being diagnosed with ADHD. The concessions for my son are similar to those you listed. A few more like being careful not to embarrass him in class, taking him to the side when he needs to be reprimanded, weekly contact with me, etc.
Yay Jac.....Are you off to bake now??? How are you and no 69??
We've got a 90% chance for 2-3 inches this afternoon. With my kids' luck, it won't be until school lets out:)
Smithchick that is good that the school works with your son... I just need to get my kid officially diagnosed so we can figure out what he officially needs... very frustrating...
congrats jac :) before you shoot off, can you help me with a clue? I've got 're' blindness again :/ I've got re5/12, re5/14 & re5/18 ... what's the missing re5?
Hi & 'bye to Lotti, btw. See you all later. Happy Babbling! x
lotti - got to run... bye everyone! happy babbling!
See ya Temple :)
drats, missed jac ... can anyone fill my re5 gap?
Bye TO
trish - another re5/14. Byeeee.
I wish some school person would have let me in on the whole 504 thing way back when. It's frustrating. I wish that I had been aware. It probably would have saved us some major battles. Last year was horrible.
wow, i like all these concessions. here it's even harder, we're a private school and we have dress code and everything - he wears what he's supposed to wear, but he's so sloppy bc he has no attention for detail - and some teachers take it as purposeful rudeness when it totally isn't.
Bye, temple. HI trishtrash, lotti and anyone else who came on while I was burning up my keyboard. I guess I should actually find some more words now.
bye smith....:)
luckily, i am one of his teachers, so i can cut him plenty of slack in my class, at least.
even with the concessions, it's hard EVERY year. My son does not handle change well. The beginning of each year he goes through this power struggle and tests his limits. So start the parent/teacher conferences, etc. Next year (6th grade) will be especially hard because they will be switching classes (and teachers) for each class!!! I am terrified of what will happen.
You may need to meet with all of them in a nonconfrontational way and explain things and work out a plan. Although, last year I became very confrontational by the end of the year with Tim's sixth-grade teachers. I decided they were a bunch of harpies.
Lupe- sometimes that is better for an ADD kid because it breaks up things a little bit, but it didn't really work for mine. That many more folders to keep up with, that many more places to be on time, etc.
the other thing is, i bet people are more tolerant at the younger ages. mine is 18 and a junior and people think "he should know better by now".
"should" can be one of the most hateful words in the English language...
What's his maturity level? My son's is very low. I think that is pretty standard for ADHD kids. Age isn't really indicative of what they "should" know.
smith - I totally understand - this year has been a struggle with his teacher due to her no relenting on some of the rules. I told her recently that although my son's handicap is not physically obvious she can't forget that he needs help. I reminded her that although he looks like a 10 year old, mentally he is at least 2 years behind and thus reacts like an 8year old.
yeah, low maturity - and most people blame him for that.
I know what ADD is, what is ADHD?
smithchick, where are you? Here in northern Virginia, we might get some snow this weekend as well...
One of the theories that I learned in my counseling program was REBT. You work on striking shoulds and have to's and need to's from your thought processes.
the H is for hyperactivity
I thought so, wasn't sure, ty Hursh
I'm in Central Arkansas. We usually only get one or two snows a year. Usually only a few inches. Once in a while we'll get 6-7 inches, but not usually. This year it snowed once and wasn't even an inch. My children were not happy.
i do try to convey to the other teachers that he is never intentionally being rude or disrespectful - but i think it is hard for them to believe.
I hear ya Hurshy!
Smith - tell me more about REBT -- sounds interesting.
I went in to a meeting last year with the teachers and principal with my diagnostic manual in hand and read them the criteria for ADHD.
We have had a very mild Winter here, too, much to my children's disappointment... they got new heavy coats & snow boots for Christmas & haven't had much need for them! We had flurries on Thanksgiving & I think one other time since... that's it!
Could a lay person get their hands on a diagnostic manual??
yeah, totally, they have it on amazon.
smith - the vice principal didn't speak to me for months because during one meeting I corrected her and said something to the effect of "if you know anything about kids with ADHD you'd know that ....." This year when I saw her and was prepared for her to give me a dirty look I smiled and waved while saying "hi" - loved the look of shock! She's resumed saying hello to me again.

My mother is a teacher and she says (remember it's my mom and not me) that they are sometimes to quick to diagnose ADD to children that may simply just be problematic. Don't shoot the messenger.
Yes, it's the DSMivR I think. Just go ask at a bookstore. Look in the medical section. Yeah, I asked his teachers if they actually knew anything about it, if they had attended any workshops, continuing ed, etc. Then not so kindly suggested that they might want to consider that.
I just want to know, so he can be helped & taught appropriately... I think people can be too quick to jump of the medication... I'd rather use psychology if at all possible...
My point was, maybe it's a more than common point of view Hurshy, and the other teachers don't take it seriously as they should when disciplining?
but the thing is, the fact that people expect things from him at 18 is... well, it's reflective of the way life will be... i worry so about what life will be like for him.
That's true, bunny. What teachers need to be aware of is there are some of us parents who have done everything possible to make sure that is accurate. My son has been in counseling, we've practiced behavior modification, he's been on different meds, etc.
bunny - there are many people who don't believe in it at all. It's a battle, especially when the kids are smart. I remember before my son was diagnosed the principal calls me into his office and says ("so, what's going on") - i.e., his home environment was the cause for his behavior. He even went so far as to say that my son had a problem with female authority figures!! needless to say, I let him have it!
yeah, bunny - i don't actually know if they even know that ADD is the problem - i haven't mentioned it specifically.
Jera, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual comes in a condenced pocketbook format also. I've never used it, but I know it is far less expensive than the big version. Also, be sure to get the lastest edition; I think a new one was due about a year ago.
he definitely needs to find a line of work with flexibility in dress and hours and stuff...
I know that some parents aren't as diligent as ya'll are and are pretty quick to medicate their kids to resolve the problem.
Same here Smith - still going to bi-weekly counseling.
Get him a job at a music store, be right up his alley!
sorry to interrupt, again... can I just get a clue for the re5/14 (the one I already have has no def. on dict.com, but has something to do with revoking)
hehe, sorry trish, haven't found many words yet...
i am not sure how recently my kid's actual parents had him diagnosed. and if, as i suspect, it was pretty recent, then the trouble is it's so late in the game for him to start learning how to cope with ADD, and i feel like i have to crush so much work with him into so little time. plus it's been compounded by pot use...
bunny - medication was the absolute last resort for me. Even when we started, I changed it because he was in a catatonic state and I hated it. He's now on a different medication that seems to be working. Once I ran out and called his teacher to warn her -- she thought it would be good to see if he could function without it. She told me it was like night and day. He could not sit still, concentrate, etc.
maybe - bunny - but he's SO smart in math and science - would love to see him do something with that if possible
Me either, too busy chatting. I tried to avoid meds for years, but he needs them unfortunately. You can tell a difference immediately. I just don't give it to him on days when he isn't in school.
hi everyone, is it just me or is this puzzle quite hard today, I have been struggling for ages now
i meant while he went through college :)
smith, me either. I give him a lower dose on Sundays because he goes to Sunday school for a few hours and doesn't need the full dose.
i think so, ren, but it's hard to tell, i've been so focussed on the chat and not looking very hard.
I tell my son that if he can make it through school, he has the creativity and intelligence to do anything. He'll run his own company with the assistance of a VERY efficient and well-payed secretary.
oh, i see, bunny - yes! or maybe giving guitar lessons?
Ren8-Hello, the grid can be cruel but you can do it just look for fa 6/27 and you will find Me.
Or she may be well paid, you know...
LOL smith!! Good incentive!!
Hi guys! atalante, one re5/14 is re plus equipment or set up. The other is the same but for the third letter which is also a consonant : )
Good morning, all! Apparently whining really works. I have 47 words. But I haven't entered any. Just logged on. Since I was visited by the babble fairy, i have a cute little fairy icon.
i think i am just having one of those friday's where I cannot see for looking
Ooops! Not atalante...trishtrash...sorry! : )
I had him evaluated at the Arkansas Children's Hospital. They did a physical exam, some intelligence testing, etc. The lady showed him on a bell curve that his scores were in the gifted range. She told him that he scored as high as anyone who's ever been president, and 95% of the people who go through med school. Then she pointed out that his grades and behavior were in the retarded range. Major impact!
it is really frustrating to be starting with a kid who is so old. he had dismal grades his first two years of HS, then failed everything last year, so he's repeating his junior year now. his dad actually suggested maybe after this year he should take the GED because he thought he needed to "see the light at the end of the tunnel", being frustrated with high school, and for a while i was afraid he was going to do that. but now he's getting good grades here and improving in a lot of ways, and wants to finish high school. this will be so much better for his chances of getting into a good college.
Morning Smaller, you get all the luck, might need some fairy dust here too!
hurshy, does your kid have a therapist? He may be self-medicating with the weed. I've seen some kids in rough shape because the pot these days is so potent. It's scary with any kid, but this one must have his ADD symptoms intensified by it. yikes.
sprinkle, sprinkle for bunny!
Smaller - how cute - you are also a FA 6....
I have all my re's for once!!!
Hurshy, it seems like you've done real well by him, and I bet you continue to do so!
he's not in therapy, and i don't know that he can be right now, the schedule here is so packed already. the pot - well, he doesn't use it here (boarding school) but only when he goes home for break. while here, he's on ritalin.
smith - it's your experiences mirror mine! We should form a separate support group! I haven't been able to find one anywhere !
Hey smaller, lola and ren! Hurshy- something to consider when he gets out is the military. My father had ADHD (undiagnosed, of course-he's 63), still does and the Air Force really saved his life. The regimen and structure...
faariieekaeeei, you're my babble fairy, aren't you?!!! sprinkle those words ANYTIME!!!
Bunny - *sprinkle*sprinkle*sprinkle fa 6 dust for you. Now spin around and take it all in :)
thank you heaps, Lola :D monkey typing wasn't getting me anywhere
Lots of ADHD kids self-medicate. Drugs, alchohol some other addiction...
giving up on 37 words how sad is that. might try again when I finish work later. bye all
Hola Lola!
Bye Ren
Lupe, I was thinking about that just the other day. I'm sure I'm not the only frustrated parent at our school.
bye ren!
Bye ren:)
ren8, if i could pay it forward, i would gladly provide all 47
I'm done... anyone want a clue before I go / loose my internet connection for the umpteenth time today?
Smaller I forgot to give you a hug ((((x)))) *here take some extra dust with you for later babe, this grid needs it*
ren8 - Bye
Way to go, trishtrash!!
Trish - how about the en words pleaseeeee.
Trish, en 6/24?
Hey, I just actually found a word!
um, ga7?
en 6/24 .. to make really angry
Hey lupe! : ) Thanks trish, but I just started...don't know what I need yet : )
Smith, one down....
Great, can't believe I didn't see that, ty!
Trish - thanks got it. Your a good cluererer
It seems that I am always having to explain ADHD and its effects, etc. over and over and over. It is so misunderstood and not taken seriously. It would be nice if there was a group out there that welcomed both adults and children to regular sessions where there were activities, speakers, etc. on the topics of add/adhd. It would be hard to fund...... ah to be rich and be able to do this would be a dream!
it is really nice to be able to talk to people who are dealing with similar things. i have to think about what further i can communicate to the other teachers after listening to what you guys have said. but it just keeps going through my head "so little time...so little time...", since he may not even come back here for his senior year.
ga 7/36 .. ga 4/6 + tr5/10 (loose one of the t's where it meets in the middle, and the last letter)
I've got a nephew who is a junior and the only reason he is still in school is because of baseball and football. He struggles.
darn, i only have one tr 5/10 and it must be the other you mean... have to find that first then
hursy - I would give copies of articles, or books that dealt with ADHD in the classroom to his teacher and just say "I found this article/book interesting and thought I'd give you a copy to read at your liesure."
en4/4 en + what a bullfighter shouts, minus the last letter thank you for the compliment fa6/27kae ;)
got the ga, thanks trish.
18 to go!
Hurshy, for the other tr5, use the same first three letters, then a consonant, then a vowel
Need a w. Here's what I've got: we4/8 we4/8 we4/8 wi4 /8 wi4/9 wi5/20 wi4/8 wi5/ 18 Help!!
yeah, well since they are my colleauges, it is easier in a way. but also harder. there are various feelings among the faculty on our special situation - some think it's great how he's living with us and getting extra help, some think it's not forcing him to learn to be independent. and in general the fact that they can see that i love him so much both puzzles them and perhaps reduces my credibility.
we6/30
Sometimes people need a huge helping of compassion.
As I take my ritalin (an add-on to my anti-depressant, which is supposed to boost the norepinephrine effect) I salute you parents for advocating for your kids and working so hard to help them. You should be so proud of yourselves and your kids (because they are wonderful and are trying too). Lots and lots of parents have such busy lives that they neglect their children or believe it's someone elses responsibility to 'fix' them. You guys are awesome.
I think you're missing we 6/40, Smith .... curious American word meaning a sausage-shaped foodstuff, I believe.... ;)
YES, smith. !!!
w6/30 sits right at the top of the list.
Ho hum to the rescue again! TY!!
I agree Smith!
Hursh, you can't please everyone, I think what you're doing is EXCELLENT, especially when you can see the difference your making. I'd love for my kids to have teachers like you while they are being educated.
thanks for saying that mab --
thank you bunny. and thank you everyone for all your parts in this discussion.
I have to go, enjoy the rest of your day, everyone. Thanks again for my last word, Lola!
Hurshy - you keep doing what you're doing. You are making a huge positive impact on him --
Tim's got great teachers this year. It helps that they are mothers and a couple of them have ADHD kids and can understand. It also makes a difference if they can tell you are trying and you listen to what they have to say, too. I try not to make excuses for his behavior that he CAN control. Also, I'm not one of those parents who thinks he never lies or distorts reality.
bye trishtrash!
Bye Trish, ty again!
bye trishtrash
Later, trishtrash! I'm with them, hurshy. Keep up the great work. You'll not regret it:)
thanks lupe.
are you kidding smith??? I have to e-mail his teacher on a regular basis to make sure my son isn't lying when he says "I have no homework today" --
I need to scoot out of here also. I have a 2 hr drive ahead of me at some point today so I really need to get going. Thanks for all the help and get chat. BBL
LOL, Lupe. Me too. I'm always checking up on him! They get rather creative, too.
hurshy, it doesn't sound like your boy needs to be pushed to be independent just now. He needs all the help you are giving him, I think. He is already catching up, but he sounds like a kid who needs extra time to grow up. The brain doesn't mature until well into one's 20s anyway....
by fairie
Catch you later, faerie!! It was fun chatting with you!
i am helped by the fact that my husband and i are 2 out of his 5 teachers - easy to know what he needs to do for those classes! :)
see, that's what i said, mab! thanks. :)
that is such a blessing Hurshy!
bye fa6!
It's great that he has you and hubby and that hubby supports you.
my husband does support what i'm doing with him, although can't help much himself as he is so busy. but even he doesn't really understand the ADD thing and wants the kid to "shape up" a little more. he says, yes, he has issues, but he should at least do the best he can, and he's not even doing that. and i say, i'm not sure if he is or isn't! but i am much more willing to be patient with him.
That's pretty typical, I think.
Sorry for taking over the chat log with this conversation and not giving more clues but it isn't often that I find a "room" full of people who truly understand my (and my son's) situation and offer such great support and suggestions. Thank you all....
I can't see how so many of you find so many more words than I Any suggestions?
It's been very encouraging chatting today. I, for one, have enjoyed it.
i'm trying to do so many things at once - get him to everything on time, get him to do his work, get him to quit smoking, convince him not to do pot when he goes home, get him to feel better about himself, gradually get him to be more self-motivated, etc etc - it is, again, so much to do in so little time.
amen to both your posts, lupe and smith.
Hello lordel. Oops, phone's ringing, be back
I think that boy feels how much you and your husband are pulling for him and care about him, hurshy. That's huge. Again, advocating for your child is SO important.
lordel - we are aided by a stats list - go to the babblers anonymous link on the right side of the page and see the first post under general.
lordel... today - babble fairy visit any other day - it's hard after the first ....20. don't feel badly. use the list on bab anon to help
Hi, everyone!!!! It's me again!!! Could ne1 assist me with the 8's plz.....
Lord, you kinda memorize a ton of words after playing for awhile, and BJ's list at Bab Anon.
Hurshy - my ex-husband doesn't understand it at all and doesn't make any effort to either. When my son was diagnosed, I made copies of ADHD materials in English and Spanish for those people who play a major part in his life (teachers, his father, grandparents, etc) I am sure that not many made an effort to read them, including his dad. He also is of the "he should know better" mentality.
Hi movieman : )
you all seem to have so much in common. you may want to take advantage of the place SWMBO put on the board for just this type of support...
go 8/60?
bunny: go6/30 + opposite of out...
sorry TO, we have been going on about this a while, haven't we?
Hurshy = a subject near and dear to our hearts!! we can go on for hours - it's a shame we didn't live closer I'd ask that we all meet for dinner!!
ty TO, odd word
:) yeah.
Lupe, where do you live (not a stalker...)?

Well dang, just got a call from the school, youngest is complaining of her ear hurting (which she has been for day, but no fever) and the nurse checked it and it's red. Time for a quick trip to the MD, I guess. Be back later, all. Happy hunting!!! Hang in there hurshy, what you are doing is amazing and I for one admire you greatly! Give your kids hugs for me, lupe and tell them they are not alone!!
I'm always up for a vacation smith - where in the south would we be visiting?
bye smith!
any clues for ro7? thanks in adv.
Don't feel you've gone on too much Lupe, smithie, bunny, hurshy. It's just one of fthose connections that occur in a space like this. A commonality is realised and you just have to chat a bit about it...
Hi mab, here's your lola pick-me-up for today ((x)) : )
Bye smith - good luck - hope everything is ok! Thanks again for the conversation - it was great!
Arkansas...not much to say about it, I'm afraid.

I always make the best of things Smith - as long as the weather is nice, it's safe and there is good food!! Take care!
ok, now i really need help with this ne5/10, one of the ones after the 8, and i have the one that ends with 3 consonants.
How nice Lola, thanks. I feel fortified to face the grid dancing. (dancing?)
Bye bunny (I'm still here- must leave) Thanks for your supportive words of encouragement!
LOL bunny! I have mucha familia in Houston.... are you near there??
Bye Smithchick.
I'm a little west of Fort Worth, bitty place called Peaster. I live in a development called Green Acres believe it or not!

Hi all, I was feeling pretty good after finishing yesterday.....that feeling has now faded after working on this one :(
ok, i'm stumped on that first re6. help?

Hi Schroe!
Hi Tink! I started with 47. Delayed b-day gift from babble fairy, apparently.

Hi toes! Haven't seen you for ages, how are you?? : )

OK, my house looks like a war zone and I think you're supposed to feed children, so I'm gonna come back later with the hope that my brain will restart. See ya in a bit!
Hi everyone :) ((xx)) Sis....Bubbles was asking about you this morning :)

i have 177 words can someone guide me to pe/7 please
any clue for the ar 5/10 please
pe7 - use the pe 4/5 above it and add under***th
rosalind - brand name of detergent
sorry it was the ar 5/14 I have the 5/10
ar5/14 is a word almost like a type of knitwear with diamonds on it. Or what you do with mouthwash minus the g at the front.
thanks haz wonderful
You're welcome!
Oh, I've just realised - you've finished. Well done!
Got it now thanks Haz
thanks to you thank you
Glad to help.
I havn't finished yet still got a few to find how you doing
13 left to find. At this stage I get really fed up scrolling up and down. I gave up with yesterday's.
Haz said a word!
Which one?
Yesterday's grid was a b**ch. Today's is not that much better : /
st 5/14
Uh, st5! Afternoon all! I've been lurking since 10am. I'm not please with my progress, but getting the flip with 6 words to go last night...I am determined to finish this one today.
Darn! I already have it. Apologies!
Okay - have to leave to collect the dog from the groomers.
'bye haz : )
Odd request, but would anyone know how to go about getting a drivers liscense number? my emploer wrote me some hot checks last year and I can't file them without it.
Anyne need help -- I managed to finish.
sa 6/27?
nm, i got it
*let sami eat cake!!* i didnt get any yesterday, but there was some at work today for a different reason, so i still get cake -- yay!
actually, I do, bunny - strange I know, someone from the UK knowing such a thing. Let me try and remember the website addy - one of my friends found it when they needed the same thing
That would be GREAT!! This guy has really caused alot of problems for us, hate for him to just get away with it.
Hi evaN! Did ya have a nice day yesterday then? : )
Hi Evan-Happy belated Birthday. I wasn't around much yesterday.
Hi..I'm back from running all my nasty errands. Back where I belong in Babbleland. But once again, I find that some of my previously scored words are GONE! It's not that I just think I got them....I know I got them. Where do they go?
i did! yesterday was actually fairly low-key, but tomorrow night im heading out to the beach with a few friends to see my friends band play, then sunday night im having dinner with my family... last night the BF took me out to dinner. he had sent me flowers at work + then gave me 2 cards at home (always 1 funny, 1 romantic) then he gave me a small stuffed horse + announced that for my gift, hed made us an appointment to go horseback riding next weekend! :D
Hi gramma and m/mom : )
Hi lola. Hi Gramma - I have the same problem. I had two words when I left this morning. When I returned they were gone.
Hi lola..evandine, sounds like a very thoughtful guy. Maybe a keeper ^_^
sa 6/27 -- what you can go on in Africa, hopefully with a camera and not a rifle
I hope the ones I'm getting now don't disappear. I have to leave again for a while in about a half hour. Won't be back until cl;ose to the flip.
EvaN, that sounds fab! He sounds like a keeper to me chicks : ) btw, listening to dar williams. Had heard of her before but gave her a proper listen after you mentioned her a few times and I really like her stuff...thank you! : )
Sounds like a terrific b-day e.
Hey there musicmom. Frustrating isn't it?
yay dar! which songs are you listening to?
Gramma - yes it is! Especially when I don't have as much play time as I would like.
eavN, I've got loads. At the moment 'everybody knows this is nowhere' is playing, but my fav is 'are you out there' : ) Which ones do you like?
Bunny - I can't find it immediately - the next time my friend comes online, I'll ask him and get back to you!
not to sound ingnorant but is this Dar the one who is basically a one woman band?
cant say i know 'everybody knows this is nowhere' but i do like "are you out there" some of my favorites are: the blessings the babysitters here the christians and the pagans the pointless, yet poignant, crisis of a co-ed
oh, and "alleluia" its funny and bouncy...hehe
m/mom, not sure : / She is sort of folk rock. Heard her on a lillith fair disc for the first time a few years back : )
TY Atlante, I appreciate it!
she does have a backup band at times, but pretty much shes her own thing
no probs!
lola -- if you like her, you should see if you can get your hands on some Kris Delmhorst
Hmmm I heard an NPR interview last week on the way to my gig with a girl from Great Britian who basically lays down all the tracks herself - even live. I really enjoyed it but I didn't write down her name.
sounds like the kinda think Dar would do, but shes american
I'll have to check her out. I bet i can find it in iTunes and put it on my iPod. I'm always looking for new things - in any style to listen to.
re 6/24?
Thanks evaN, only have one of the tracks you mentioned so will look for more! Thanks for the other rec too, will try to find some and let you know what I think : )
lola -- which of the others do you have?
m/mom, evaN, have you heard any Frou Frou or the girl from that group, Imogen Heap? I've really got into her stuff lately and Anj is taking me to see her in March! : )
lola -- hard of both. heard a song or 2 by frou frou + cant quite make up my mind...i think theyre more of a "i have to be in a certain mood to appreciate them" kinda thing. havent heard any imogen
No I haven't. This isn't really an area of music I know much about. I downloaded NPR Music podcast and have been exploring new genres.
They are quite electronic, very unusual genre for me to listen to, but there is something about her voice that keeps me listening. There was a track on the 'garden state' soundtrack, 'let go', probably my fave track by Frou Frou : )
evaN: highway patrolman, by way of sorrow, i love, i love, my friends, bought and sold, better things, spring street, after all, the beauty of the rain, as cool as i am, i'll miss you 'til i meet you, echoes, empire, farewell to the old me, mercy of the fallen, closer to me, if i wrote you, february, the ocean, wilder than her....you asked! lol : D
I could use a little help from my friends...ne8? please.
gramma, opp of positive but loose the 'ive' and add a man's name (you had a pres called this) : )
TY lola
hi lola....hi everyone.....lola , langoustines were brilliant, thank you for help :)
Great clue Lola!~
Have to disappear for a bit, I'll be back later : )
m/mom, can't take the credit for it, someone else gave it to me earlier! : ) Hey karys! Good stuff! I'll be back in a bit to chat : )
Bye Lola. I'm off too. Probably will be back later this evening while the Olympic ceremonies are on T.V>

I'm back! : ) Hey babe! (((xxx))) : ) Steady on Tim! :D
Hi babe ((xx)) : D
Anj, hard as I try to think of you as a man, I have the mental picture of woman. I guess Anjie is what does it, but the icon isn't helping any! LOL
tim ,it's mythical cratures and btw I didn't know anyone else here knew about the silver surfer
I never remember what the theme is. I down load them by date well in advance. Mine is the " perfect man". But, I don't know why...^_^
lol bunnyv, I can wear what I like then ; )
well, I guess the silver surfer is mythical...: )
Oh no Anj! Are you wearing my stockings again?? ; )
Oh My ..I see now why I chose the "perfect man". That is a mythical creature!
: D
I dunno, my husband comes pretty close :)
Mine is an african water spirit, Nyami Nyami : )
Bragart!
I was Go! Kraken...but the icon scared me : ' (
With a little more training and fewer bean burritos, we just might get him there.
Evidently, mine is a chocolate Budha

Quick, this is Anj's favourite 'lola' icon. I put it on for him when he's been a good boy ; )
'bye mamabear : )
...and takes it off when i've been a bad one ; ) LMAO!!
ANJ!....LOL! : D
Help with the tr5/14 and the second sa5/14, please?? : ) *lola bats eyelashes again in case Anj is looking*

Thanks guys : )
help with the last st7 pls, I have the one that's a type of fish
Anyone care to help a struggler with the ne4/7 plz.....
Last one...er8?? : )
hey smithchick, in and out!
st 7 - candy girls in hospital?
movieman, add a bread song covered by boy george : )
I get to stay until my mother calls and guilt-trips me into coming and helping her again.
thanks haz, but that's the same word as a type of fish you can catch
Lola, er7 - cosmopolitan genus of usually perennial herbs with flowers that resemble asters
Are you looking then for st7/36 - comparative adjective for st5/14?
Lo, E plus oil platrform plus hospital or queen plus opp. of off : )
er8 - e plus oil platform then e plus Reagan's first name
Lola clue was for er8, sorry
mary, anj, haz...thank you! I'm done : )
Well done!
Woohoo, lola!!!!!!!!!
yw, lola, so am I. Haz, excellent clue.

Aye! I just logged on and my page displayed all crazy like...made me panic. I did some deep breathing and then refreshed. Things look more normal now. *crosses fingers* Time to dig in!
Hey gramma and kristin:)
any clues for the re 5/14 the one after the7/32 please this is my last one to find
I thought the song by Bread that Boy George covered was "Everything I Own"......
re 5/14 will either be - re plus oil platform or re plus beginning of the banned 'n' word
Mmmm, thanks babe! : ) movieman, the last two letters of that word? Song title. Google Bread, the band : )
Have fun kristinc *_*...I have 1 word left and I'm outta here :)
can anyone please give me a clue for the 2nd re 5/14
movieman, you are sooooo right! Oops, sorry : /
evening all ,evening ruthy
Hi ruthy and sha....
evening sha
finished no words to find bye all
TA DA! Couldn't have done it w/out you. Thanks
evening sha
Bye rosalind
hey katiecat:)
Bye rosalind, Congrats!!!!!!!!
Way to go, gramma!!! Hi katiecat:)
ruthy look 3 logs down from your request.
I thought today's theme was "mythical creatures"....? What's with all the Tiggers, Piglets, dogs, Betty Boop & Mr. and Mrs sith then.......
...well, I was kewt ickle devil, but I was asked to change to Capn Jack...mind you, he's mythical as well ; )
It's the icon police....
movieman, my icon IS a mythical creature. "The Perfect Man" ( a chocolate Buddha)
movieman, freedom of choice mate : )
Can someone tell me which 7-letter word I'm missing?fe7/40 ga7/36 re7/32 ro7/36 st7/36 st7/32
Well, he is in MY fantasies rather a lot! ; )
belated hi smithchick, howya doin'?
pe 7/32 is yet to be found
Pretty good. Got 8 left.
Thanks, haz. I shall commence the search for the elusive pe7/32.
ooh...no bad. I'm surprised any of us came back after yesterday!
True! It was a booger.
It's a 'delicate' region of the body
ruthy did u get the re word?
Sorry Haz, I've got the st5/14 actually, but I'm not seeing that clue; did you maybe confuse the clue with the one for the st6/24? Thnx for the help btw
smithchick, they used to always cut it when you were about to deliver a baby.
No, the st6 becomes an st 7 if you add a vowel.
Well, I've had four. You'd think I'd remember.
Got it, thanks!
I'm going to get some shut-eye now. Thanks for all the help everyone, goodnight : ) 'nite babe (((xxx))) : )
Good night lola.
Goodnight Lola.
'nite Lola : ) Sweet dreams babe (( xx))
I'm back. ro7???
ro7 - Reagan's shortened name, beverage, Lee's military rank (shortened)
Any clue for st6/27 would be greatly appreciated
thank you Haz...: )
smithchick, you have FOUR kids?!!!! do you just have a zipper installed? my one hurt enought for me to say no way in heck am i doing THAT again
st 6/27 is a term to do with firing guns - spraying bullets
Thank you Haz :)
...and so i had a cork installed. ...and a chastity belt ...double locked. ....no key ....and a firewall
I was blessed with a very high pain tolerance. I didn't have any pain meds or anesthesia with any of them.
I caught myself firing an imaginary machine gun....
LOL, smaller!
Can someone tell me which p I'm missing? I've got: pe4/5 pe5/12 pe5/12 p e7/32 pe4/5 pi4/5 pi4/5 pi 4/5
Smithchick - have you ever been the subject of one of those magazine articles ' I had my kids and felt no pain'? Or even the sort of patient that has medical students crowded round the bed asking questions?
There's another pe 4/5 before your pe 7, I think.
I had pain, I just withstood it by myself with my mother rubbing my forehead with a wet cloth. Labors ranged from 12-30 hours.
What was on the wet cloth???
They don't call it labor for nothing. I know this will come as a shock to all of you, but I talked right through contractions that were maxing out on the monitor.
Too funny, haz!
'cause you know, I'm the quiet type:)
lol Haz!!!
Well, I guess I'll be needing the fish. Thanks, haz!
You got your other pe then?
Yes, I'm down to an r and two g's.
How many ro's does everybody have?
2
Is there an rh? Or am I looking for a blasted re?
any clues for the go8?
there is no rh
Dang, it is an re, then.go8-person who stuffs food in + opp. of out
*appears suddenly in a puff of sparkly fa6/27 dust* I'm baaaaa-aaack!!
Tim - add the opposite of out to your go6/30
Hey, jera! I thought you had finished. I'll be needing the fish again (and again, and again). Just got my missing re. A Duh word.
Thanks mac.....
You're welcome, Tim
*hits head with brick* I got that pesky st7 haz. Don't know why I didn't see it. . .
Oh, Moog - I thought you had got it ages ago and didn't want to keep on about it. Don't hit your head with a brick, you'll leave marks.
Nope. smithchick I had to break with 30 to go... had me a little nap & a refreshing bath, picked up the Gwyd-beast & I'm ready for Babble action!
Well, I'm down to two and I'm breaking out bj's list.
*brushes brick dust out of Moog's hair* *stands in awe of smithchick JUST NOW breaking out bj's list*
np, I'm at work so I'm doing this on and off between tasks
Sounds like a refreshing afternoon. I took my youngest to the doctor, and then went to get her prescription filled. Wasn't too bad. I didn't have to wait too long anywhere. Ear infection
any clues please for re6/21
ot6/18 - see, it just trips off the tongue.
re 6/21 - add a type of fir tree
re + type of wood
night all thanks for help
bye sha...
goodnight sha!
lunch break...anyone have a clue for pe7?
night all
Thanks Haz & Smith, how about re 6/24
Goodnight, ruthy.
Same with ro7, Haz... I mean really, what the...?
pe 7/32 - plural of a 'delicate' part of the body. Think childbirth, stitches, inability to sit down etc. Unless you're smithchick.
20 to go!!
ro 7 - apparently the name of a German physicist. Doesn't spring to mind? Try Reagans first name, beverage, then shortened military rank.
I'm missing the first ga5. My very last word. Would someone be so kind as to give me a clue?
Evening all.....I am a love unicorn... :)
ga5 - Put it with bouquet and you have a flavouring for a savoury dish. French for gathered.
Just monkey-typed it. 0 words left to find!!! Thanks for all of the help, everyone!
Well done, smithchick!
Hey, tbear. How are ya?
TY, haz. Wonderful clues as usual. Can you get a pager so that I can call you every time I get on here?
Yes, of course!
smithchick....sat with chocolate and pussy cat and playing babble....pure happiness....and you girl?
*happy dance of doneness for smithchick* fa6/27 dust galore!!
Wonderful. It is friday, and I have only one obligation for tomorrow! And it doesn't involve getting up early!!!
Ty, jera!!! I'm convinced it's the dust that did it!
ITA, smithchick... extra potent magic when it's in the grid, ya know!
Playing Babble, right, smithchick? (that's your obligation?)
me neither...and the girls are on half term so don't need to do any washing for the whole weekend.....yay
Help! I'm stuck on the re6/24 (holds fish ready)...
re 6/24 - add Scottish word for against
Any day without laundry is a cause for celebration. I'll have to take my youngest to a b-day party. My mother will probably require my services. She is getting her house ready for an appraisal. It's being renovated and lived in by irresponsible 24-yr. old son. Not a good combo...
Or indeed ag4/6
Jera think of a different way to spell Ronald Re**** last name
Surely I'll be able to play babble sometime. My mother isn't that cruel, is she? (Well...actually)
afternoon/evening babblers!!
Maybe it'll be a short grid and we'll all get it finished quickly.
Hey, evan!
evanadine.....happy birthday for yesterday....
Hello, Evanadine - started the countdown to next year's birthday yet?
Well, time for me to leave - happy hunting everyone.
Bye, haz! Thanks again for all the help!
thanks tbear!! haz -- havent finished celebrating this one yet...haha
bye Haz
Bye Haz, have a good evening!
Evening all! Need help with the final re5/14, please.
just getting started and am to the e's -- how 'bout er8/50 .. trying to get through the puzzle early to watch olympics
made myself a sammich for a snack...surprisingly good -- smooshed a can of tuna with an avovado, a spoonful of lite miracle whip + 2 large spoonfuls of sweet relish see, i CAN eat a meal without cheese in it! hehe
er8/50 - "a widely distributed genus of composite herbs having flower heads resembling asters but with fewer and narrower involucral bracts."
But evan, why would you want to?
I'm still stumped, macuser... got any other hints?
re5/14 re + oil r**
Hey, pbr and charm!
Jera re + first vowel + *** & tonic
thanks thanks, smithchick! That's me done for the day! Any help I can offer before I sign off?
well, smithchick, the real reason is that i wasnt sure my concoction (sp?) would be tasty, and i didnt wanna waste a slice of perfectly yummy cheese in case it was icky...hehe... but its QUITE yummy! i highly recommend it!
Got it, mac... wasn't putting enough vowels before the key consonant! Thanks!
hey....did someone mention gin.....
You're welcome, Jera :) Glad you got it
criminey -- i only have one 7!
Evanadine - you mean you consider a meal complete even if there isn't a chocolate component????
LOL, evan. I like avocado with sprouts and cream cheese on whole grain bread. Yummy!! Oh, and cucumber, too.
any clues for st7/32? ty in advance
hey, i said snakc, not meal! ;)
Well, the chocolate is dessert.
that sounds mega-tasty smithchick! dont usually have most of that in the house, but it would be worth trying!
Charm ty
st7/32 - candy st****** - young girl in a pink uniform who volunteers at a hosp.
heh, thats the one i have
hey quick, have you been lurking?
Snack, meal, whatever - it's edible; ergo, chocolate is a must.
hey smith! yup. actually, I get my nose in the grid and forget to look at the chat sometimes
10 words to go!! *wipes sweat from furrowed brow & presses onward & upward*
You're on the home stretch, jera!!
Thanks charm! Got it
yw.
did someone mention chocolate?
too late. I've eaten it all.
my heart is like a football to you alone i hike it and it will be forever yours as long as you dont spike it
that is always my luck this week. dang work!!!
5 P's to go!! At least they aren't re's, like I usually leave to last...
Re's - the bane of my current existence! And sometimes Un's and De's, too.
ergo... one of those words I kept INSISTING was in the grid, but alas, every time I type it... there it isn't...
HEY... isn't perl a knitting term??? Knit one, perl two???
that's purl, I think
Thanks for the help, folks. Gotta go start dinner of some sort. Good luck with the grid....
Bye, charm:)
Aw man, couldn't they give us an alternate spelling for that... crazy Enable dictionary... I've seen it both ways...
Bye Charm
pe7???
One to go... it's a pe5/12... help??
pe7 work off of your second pe4/5 + consonant + two vowels. A portion of the body in the pelvic region
Add a consonat & 2 vowels to the pe4 right above...
Which pe5/12 do you have? the one that rhymes with breakfast fruit or the one that sounds like fancy water?
Jera pe + **** Ranger, minus the ending vowel
Whoo-hoo!!! *happy dance of doneness*
thanks smithchick and jera : )
Congrats Jera! :)
Thansk to all who helped me... this game is so fun when it's a team effort!!
congratulations jera.....: )
Yeehaw, jera!!!!!!!!
Okay, I need help coming up with something clever for my icon tomorrow... I don't do celebrity stuff so I don't get the whole Brad & Angelina thing...
Mine's not especially clever, jera. It's just the two of them standing next to each other looking like they have nothing to do with each other whatsoever.
Maybe I'll skip it & be just me...
i was hoping i could finish this grid without any help but i am stuck on the we6/30 and fa5/20 if anyone would be kind enough to assist me please
mo we6/30 is another word for a hotdog
we6/30: a frank fa5/20 Someone gave a really good clue about Fiddler on the roof for that this morning, but i can't think of it.
Just you works for me, jera:)
fa5/20 = think Oliver Twist... the bag guy who had kids steal for him
I mean bad guy... he might have carried a bag for the loot, though, LOL

st 7/36 anyone?
Hi all! Where is everyone the last few days?
st 7/36 - more so of the st 5 (add the 3 letter ending for "more so*)
st7/36 is a comparative of the st6/24. Add a vowel.
Hi JoJo - this is my first time on since Sunday.... don't know about everyone else!
Hi Mama: I have been on since Sunday, but no one was on that I usually chat with, so didn't chat. Thx for responding.
JoJo, I've been here in the pm but didn't see you. If so, we could have consoled each other about the Seahawks! :)
Good to see you JoJo... I have had a dreadful week. thought Babbling would help, but can't get my mind off stuff. Just feel real edgy.
*Woulfs circles the crowd for a bit, then charges in* MAMA!! (*HUG*) I only have about five mins right now, How are you?
Hi everyone, i haven't been on since xmas, computer been playing up, anyone need help with anything before i head off to the land of nod
Better now, GW!!!! (((((hugs)))))).... How's the new job?
pe 5's and the pe 7??? please?
Kristinc: Yeh, I am about over the Seahawks~~ possibly! Officiating was awful, but I guess, that is just life. Where did you watch the game?
I start it on Monday -- I went back to Lenscrafters yesterday which is why I have very little time right now -- Kirsten is putting Kristianna into bed and then I am hers for a bit :)
one pe5 rhymes with the fruit water*****
Woulfie: Welcome back ~~ for a while. Glad you will be spending time with your wife.
got it, gwenski - thanks!
OK GW...... I have a ton of words to find... will be here for a while if you come back!
Thanks JoJo -- once the new job starts I will most likely be by to chat for a few mins each night during the week -- my only grid hunting time will be on the weekends proper
pe7: start with the pe4 and think of a delicate part of the body, associated with childbirth.
JoJo...My husband is a pastor and so we hosted a party at our church...had about 30 or so and had a great time nonetheless.
Just off work! any help with the ne4/7 folllowing the ne8/50? thanks!
Sorry about getting the timing wrong, GW - I knew you said you went back to work on 2/9 - I thought it was to the new job....
Thanks Mama -- I'll do my best :)
No sweat Mama -- I have so much going on, even I get confused right now ;D
ne4: A woman born in the state of villeinage; a female serf
Mama: I was always the same as you when I worked for a hundred years, I think. That just means you are focused, and I would bet, very good at your job. I can't give you any relief on your worrying about your job, because, as I said I did it too, but what I can say, is that once you leave that job, i.e. another job, or retirement (like I did), you won't look back.
pe5, i did alot of monkey typing on , what is like a tower like erection, carries electric cables, sounds very similar, hope its not too confusing
still need a pe 5 that doesn't rhyme with the water.
But my time is up for now -- as I said, I will try to come back later -- too bad I have over 100 left to find --- I was working this AM when Sebastian woke to feed and then proceeded to get the gas fussies -- it was a long night as a result
The other pe5 starts with the same three letters as the end of the pe's, but ends in a latin plural.
(*hugs for all*)
Kristic: I know, but did he rent a wide screen TV like I suggested? I heard on the news that a lot of churches were doing so in the area and was hoping your church was one of them.
See ya, Daddio!
Gotta run, speaking of church, just found out a dear member is in the hospital so we're going to visit before it gets too late. Hopefully, I'll be back for my final 60. G'nite mama, GW, JoJo and others. Take care!
mamabear, what do electric cables sit on in the sky,
good nite kristinc... my best to your friend for a speedy recovery!
JoJo...real quick. We have a big screen and used our projector. It was great. My TV has seemed small all week. Talk to soon I'm sure. I hope you had fun watching the game as well.
thinking.... thinking.... thinking.... clouds? LOL
huge big metal things
Kristinc: Not fun due to the officiating. But we will survive as you will as well. Best wishes to your trip to the hospital tonite.
the last three laters are the begining of the.... Ranger with tonto

Glad to help. Anyone else?
your welcome mamabear, goodnight
well, since you asked... the ne 4/7 and 2 5/10's after the 8. I think I am blind tonite - I am not seeing anything... ;(
the ne4/7 looks like it could possibly rhyme with the fi4/10.
no fi's yet.... I'm working backwards...
ne5/10: another word for darn!
okay, then rhyme with the second re4/7
OK. got the 4/7. thanks.... looking for that other DARN word.... and it's twin
the other ne5 is a colorless liquid, C9H17COH, derived from orange blossoms and used in perfumery. Or, add a consonant to a cruel roman emporer. (I know that last word is misspelled, but I'm drawing a blank on the spelling!)
The DARN word is slang, and only plural.
got the roman emperor... need the other 5/10 still
st 6/18, please?

Unfortunately, now you'll be able to tell when I'm babbling at work. (No picture). Hmmm. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea....
can anyone help with RE5/14 and 5/18 following the RE7/32, and with the ri4/4?
You won't lose your picture at work, gwenski. It's in your profile now.
re5/18: to triumph again.
Really? Even if it's a picture located on my home computer? If so, COOL!
Yes! I put pics on at work and don't have them on this computer. But they stay. You downloaded it to your Babble profile . It will stay there!!!
re5/14: what a sailor does to fix the sails. Or, re + slang for a tractor trailer (big r** )
Great! Then I can work on the puzzle freely during my lunch (and other) breaks, or just 'lurk'
ar 5/10 clue anyone?

A melon-wow! I always thought it was some sort of pilot's helmet. My cat thinks the whole thing is terribly undignified, but then, someone who repeatedly licks his nether parts in public shouldn't talk.
en6 - get really pi**ed off!

Thank you all --Messages relayed and acknowledged -- she is getting ready to go to bed as I type :)
how about the st6/27?
smaller...you weren't babbling in your dreams were you? or perhaps you were sleep babbling?......8)
GW st6/27 - think of bullets and war movies, bullets st**** the side of the ship or building
smaller yes, due in early August and since my pants now officially don't fit and this is baby #1, I have the whole weight thing definitely on my mind (though trying not to worry too much!)
Renny, it's entirely probable. Plus, it was a lot of the easy first ones that you get. So I kept getting "Oops you have already used that word" over and over
st 6/27 - "To attack (ground troops, for example) with a machine gun or cannon from a low-flying aircraft"
kristi -- remember that at this point, the weight gain is a positive thing, unless you gain TOO much -- listen to your doctor's advice and you should be just fine :)
Kristinc, Well congratulations! My son was born at the first of September so i had the whale months during the heat too. Lots of sleep, lots of water and lots of walks. You'll do great!!!!
smaller - did tink see your icon today??? 8)
what about the ne 8/50? (I admit, mostly b/c I am too tired to look too hard)
n8 - opposite of positron
kristinc, opposite of a positron
