R 7/32
these ing's are in inconvenient places.
renfield! what are you wearing?
Gee -- I step away for a few minutes and already you're posting 7's in the new grid!
my lemon has on a faux leopard skin stray cats hat and coat - he's totally hollywood...
I am actually gonna pass on todays grid -- If I start I will end up losing what little time I have today after I get done with Lenscrafter's :)
that is one classy lemon.
i've got to work..so i guess i will be passing on it as well...
oh, thanks. I thought I was going crazy... I am up to 27 words, tired and so going for now. See you!
Good night all!

gr 8/50... must change icon!
i was here on saturday....kind of...what monster...what???
gr 7/36 as well
oh sherb!!! i don't want to work....i want to live..i want to play....i want to beeeeeeeee (whadda ya think?)
At one point, Babbler came on to the log because she had been watching "The Others" and we ended up on a thread of assembling a monster hunting pack -- you know the standards -- wooden stakes, holy water, garlic, etc.
yokes!!!!!!!!!!! not after my mistress...please!!! did you add silver bullets????
think you and hollywood lemon are in line for an oscar, ren ;)
little buggies.....
Anyway -- since we were having so much fun, I created a new thread on BabAnon, in the Other Interests category for people to contribute their suggestions... I recapped what has already been stated, I though you would like to contribute due to your love of old films :)
ty leslieann.....he's got stars in his eyes!!!!
...gotta love it when you type something in, it takes it, and then you can't figure out where it is on the grid
No, your mistress is safe for now, ren -- though if she ever turns evil and intent of taking over the world, we will be ready for her (hopefully)
ok wolfie..i'llcheck it out!!! but it won;t hurt my mistress.... right???
like pearl????

cr 7/52
hello, I'm new :)
hi caloli
Welcome caloli!
hi and thanks :)
Can I join in giving clues?
sure, caloli, just don't post whole words in the log... most people want the opportunity to guess
how many words are there?
OK 80 words, I'm going to bed!
okay! Do I give word clues? I don't understand the 'code' clues being given.
190, freckle
cal, at this time we're finding the large words first; we never give actual whole words just first two letters plus other hints.
caoli -- if you go to angelsongs page (link under friends of babble) you will find everything explained there.
gr 5/14 means a word that starts with gr, is 5 letters and worth 14 points. if someone asked for a clue for it, i would say it's a color.
thanks for the explanation ... here's my first clue. at/7/36
oh, nice one
woohoo
ca 7/32, 8/45, 7/32 WOOOHOOOOOOO!
'nite all, catch you tomorrow...
night chic
goodnight
ca9/72
e 7/36
Ah, I finally cot ca9/72 ... I was beginning to think I was too dense for this game.
to 7/44
hey, no fair, practically all the to's start with the same 4 letters...
re 7/28
...um grigs? who you saying no fair to? you're the one who found them :)
well, there is that... but it's never kept me from railing at the unfairness of the universe before now!
oh, right, ok. unfairness of the universe. just checking.
note to self: whiner tonight,do not inflict attitude on others. also, stop seeing "notarize" in puzzle, it's not there :)
that would have been a good one. i thought i saw "cauterize" except there's no u, so it would have been "caterize" which i believe is when you're attacked by well-meaning chefs
ooh, your 'notarize' comment just made my brain start working again. I live in Australia so words end in -ise rather than -ize here and I wasn't thinking of finding -ize words
cal, it works both ways. you get our izes (and the ises also show up) and we get your ae's.
Excellent!!
116 words, have half the 7's, good enough for me. i'm going to turn in. g'night all.
goodnight
g'night..
135 -- calling it a night :)
ok, that's 106 for me, and it's past my bedtime. cal, don't forget to check out angelsong's babble page if you haven't already, there's a link to the complete list of wrods (not the whole words, just teh 1st 2 letters adn the points) so you can see if you have em all.
goodnight, and thanks - I'll be sure to check out the link.
ca9/72 put it in a box
ea8/50 your pay slip
re9/66 another pay slip
ze7/56
gr8/50 a bit more lime coloured
Lickety's Babble Clues are up and running... enjoy! bye for now! dinner is beckoning
bye for now :)
Yay! I found a z7/56.
I'm still stuck on re9/66
just like caloli!
in7/36, applies to King Lear's kid.
I'm off for now, goodbye
Mmmm, 190 words today. I haven't made up my mind if I am going to play today. The sun is shining, I might get out into the garden. There is a lot to fo out there. However, good morning to you all.
Ex wren - it's suppose to tip it down this afternoon so make the most of the sun. I'm off to the football so need to get some done this morning.
stuck at 1064 points... night everyone!
Thanks Katie. In that case I may be FORCED to babble after all

ty ishult
yes there is another one
can I have a clue?
yes ishult there is change the last 2 letters for a different vowel and constant

Ishult - great clues. Just took me a while to let it sink in! Thanks!
Morning! I had my first really good night's sleep in a long time. I also just found a 9 with no help at all.
Ah well, it's just started to rain, so it looks like I will be babbling after all - (re post at 04.17)
It is at this point I wish I could babble all afternoon, but the football calls. Be back later.

Please may I have a clue for the re9?
Good morning, all!
morning all. another banner day here in the northeast!
afternoon
Don't worry, found it.
ok boysaway...can you tell me now??..lol
Hi rolin: making money from employment (again)
cheers boys...
Help with CA 8/45? Anyone?
ca8- pl of ca7 means highland robber
Huh? My ca7 is a cook. ca8 robber?
there are two ca7s after the ca5. One ca7 comes before the ca7 which means cook. the ca8 is the pl of that first ca7... if that makes any sense...
That's it for me, does anyone need help?
Oh no! I don't have the 1st CA 7! Help!
the first ca7 is a scottish highwayman. feline + 2nd vowel + faster than walk... 8 is usual plural
Jera! Smooch! Got them both!
Whew... with the ra4/5 in the grid I was hard pressed describing the last bit.
could someone clue me on the 2nd re 5/12?
Jera- you described better than I could, plus faster :-)
Anyone have a clue for the co5/16 my monkey typing is deficient today >.<
can anyone give me a clue for gr 8/50?
nm, figured out the co5/16
g8/50= more than a little limey colored
thanks, i don't know why i didn't have that. i had all the other variations
Welcome back, everyone, to another brain-taxer!!!!!
the AE's have me stumped!
Does anyone have a clue to te5/12?
Never mind the ae's, the z's have me completely flummoxed!!!!!
The z's are quite easy mm. nearly all variations of nought
movieman- teh z's are worth nothing
The second re5/12 is what spies do.. a re*** mission
There is only one ae... think plane/flying
one z is michael douglas's wife
Jera there is AE 6/18 too...
te5/12 sounds like "a short answer", but use a different consonant... also rhymes with section of a poem or song
there are 2 ae's. the first one means to add oxygen to blood or air to water
I am so sorry, you are right... there are 2
Morning all -- happy Lemon day
Good explanation, knutmeg... I was going to say gardening... some people do it to their soil that is hard packed
Welcome, ch.....
Knutmeg thanks!
Giving coherent clues (without giving too much away) is as stimulating as the actual puzzle!
=^..^=
ty jera, I hadn't seen that other 'c' in the bottom corner
:D my surname is in today's puzzle!
:D
Don't you hate it when letters hide in the corners?
Congrats NowherePixie. Is it the ze 4/9?
hehe nope ca 6/21 :)
AZ 5/20 anyone?
The o's are scrambling my brain as well!!!
az = Last part of a monthly subscription
I still need 1 more z..... I have 3 words relating to nothing, and the first part of Michael Douglas' wife's surname, but what is the other.....?
Thanks Jera!
Rhymes with German for no, movieman
Thanx, Jera....
Just working on my karma... ;D
I'm on to the r's again, 13 of the little b*****s
Has anyone found the 9's yet..... If so, clue me up, plz.....
EC 6/21? I can't eve start the r's! Sooo many!
Those o's are still driving me nuts..... Just what the bloke said when he had a steering wheel down his pants.......LOL
re 9/66 = re + ea 7/37
why isn't gocart a word?
Probably 'cos it's hyphenated, marc.....
The re's weren't too bad today... here's a tip... don't be afraid of doubble vowels...
Does anyone out there have any o's at all......?
yhanks cliff. got the re9, just need the other 12!
The oc's build on the 5 which = "A sheath formed at the node of a stem by the fusion of two stipules, as in the rhubarb plant"
Whoo-hooooo!!!!! Just got the other 9 WITHOUT any cluez........
oa = one who eats a particular hot grain cereal for breakfast
exwren, 2 other re's are shorter versions of the re 9
DONE...anyone need a clue??
EA 7/37?
when I work ... I am ea7/36 money
2 of the or's lack one letter from being a common citrus fruit (one is usual plural)
Never mind! it's 7/36 and i have it!
Congrats, Ouwa!
7/36-is that the word count and then the score?
rae...it is the letter count and then the score
hi everyone! : )
Well, hi temple!!!!!!
hi temple!

Greetings, TempleOwl!
thought i'd at least get the layof the grid - it is too nice to babble this early. how is it?

not too difficult Temple...lots of words end in either "er" or "ing"
hi raenha! oooh - is this a theme day?

hi karys! i see my favorite icon is back!

hello everyone :)
Karys no way! i swear I typed that!
thankies :)
Morning, Karys!
hi karys - your icon made me smile.

hi Temple.....well he's had his holiday now !
movieman, did my O hints help at all?
Karys' Happy Cat always makes us smile!
I've just spent ages looking for an 'in' that I already had !!

hi evan.
hello cliffy! * slams 72 with the pie *
Sounds like everyone is set so I will take my leave & go do some work in the kitchen... gotta clean the house & be free for some outside time on this gorgeous Spring day!
Temple....one is name of 'z'
so long jera
temple, one of the z's is same as re 4/4 having to do with horse/bridle. just replace first consonant of re 4/4
PHHHHHHHHHTTTTHHH!! ptoooey! hi nut ! : D
I did the ironing this morning Jera.....thanks for clues again...see you soon ,....enjoy your day :)
bye, jera!
hey 72!
Jera, I found a couple of the o's, but I'm still missing 5 of them......
thanks cliff - are yoou in pa?
Good thing I checked back one last time... what do you need movieman??
do you mean state of residence or ending of my screen name?
I got the 'o' s movie
Jera - all of the o's except the sheath formed at the node of a stem by the fusion of two stipules, as in the rhubarb plant, and the person consuming cereal....
*hastily swallows huge chink of pie* are you living in pa?
Stumped on OC's!
I'll leave O duty to you, Karys... bye all! *poof*
nope. i live in NH, or as some city people call it, cow hampshire.
cliff, did you say cow? i love cows! my neighbors are cows you know.
oc5.....oc plus....the fuuny word for 'ostrich' minus the 'h'.....and the others go from this
LOL! i thought that was vermont - more cows than people!
now nut - april fools is over - behave! i'm sure your neightbors are quite lovely
no really, wait.
i wish my neighbors were cows. all are the human kind tho. and yes, vermont has way more cows than NH. they are much better about holding on to their open spaces. in NH, subdivisions pop up in a field overnight.
Funny word for ostrich? Huh?
yes Marc...a little ostrich type thing !!
Karys - and what about the o's from the second row, then.....
or....take the first letter from second a4/4
g'morning
karys I'm lost with that. don't know what that means.
Hiya, hursh.....
re o's . . . try some MONKEY typing! :-)
hiya movieman :)
morning hursh!
movie they are from the human ape word
oh man today is going to make me want to make lemon squares
hi temple :)
hi hurshy. with all these lemons i'm starting to want some lemonade, or lemon tea.
Marc.....oc plus the last three letters of a4/4
okay 72, refresh for my neighbor.
I'm no good at monkey typing, 'cos my brain doesn't work that way..... I tend to see the more obvious words, and that's why I can never finish without help.....
hi cliffopa. mmm, lemon stuff is so yummy!
"or" monkeys . . .
hursh, i couldn't find a lemon icon to save my life, found some nice limes though.
nut: and a lovely neighbor she is, too... : D BTW i heard a rumor there's an re 9....
nut - i don't understand, if you go to google and do an image search on lemon there are a ton of them
That's 2 of the second row o's, une, what's the other one....
cute neighbor evan. where in the USA are you?
oh well hursh, i guess i'm just still unexperienced at this. but i found lots for tomorrow!
movie.....straight up and left
remind me what tomorrow's theme is?
cliff - pennsylvania hursh - janet evanovich!
temple, the re 9 is re + ea 7/36
lol, oh, of course, nut
ugh... suffering from RE anger
I STILL can't fathom out what my two remaining o's are.....
and did you know that there is a nut appreciation day?
i've only driven through PA on highways. never stopped. it is such a big state to get through. you can drive from one end of NH to the other in 4 hrs.
hi guys how many words today?
i love pa.
you can drive from top to bottom of RI in less than an hour and a half - and that's the longer dimension of the state! (that's where i'm from)
i prefer a state i can get lost in.
movieman, did you get the monkey singular and plural??
hehe you can get to one end of England to the other in about 4 hours too! :s ...well... if you drive like my dad does!
i did copy the whole list of themes from babbler's "handbag" but i haven't looked it over thoroughly, nut :)
i heard the highest elevation in RI is a landfill hurshy. any truth to that?
Yes, une, I did....
yes, cliff, the landfill did surpass the highest natural point, jerimoth hill... but maybe they've squished the trash down since then.
being movieman, i'm sure you got the oa6 . . .
oops, i mean oa5
une - is the oa5 the one that sounds like someone eating a type of cereal grain.....
Hi dear gang :)
Hi, sprite....
hey sprite, did you enjoy being in the grid yesterday?
I missed yesterday's!
hi sprite :)
yep, a perennial Babble word for "western"
oh NO sprite!
brilliant idea hursh, just followed your lead.
Then, une, yes I do have that one.....
only be careful nut, one time she switched 'em around and i had the wrong outfit. it was very embarrassing. :)
do you have the or5 that rhymes with cornice?
boo hahahaha!! ;D
Even after I finish the o's, I still need both the i's from the bottom row, and all three n's from the second row.....
oh i imagine, i just panicked and checked, but no, i will be here for nut appreciation day.
{{babbler :-}D
movieman, the left N3 or the right N3
{{{babbler}}} well speak of the babbler...
No, I did't have that one, une.... Just need one more from the other o now..... Already have the oc5/12 & the oc7/32..... Hursh, it's the right n3.....
movieman, the greek temple, the one that's same but like a pl, and, what a shrewish wife does to her husband
hehe, Hi guys! :D (( hugs )) Just updated the theme log to show next week's ideas. (I usually do this on a Sunday, in case ya hadn't noticed!) ; )
Thanksx for those n's, hursh..... Now if I could only get those bottom row i's.....
Hiya, babs.....
hiya fella! : )
any good clues for any of the oc's? (although i'll take bad ones too)
in5 not moving
movieman, one of the i's is another favorite babble word, an anagram of iron...
babsy - i'm so excited about monday, we can wear our cats.
Hello
oops, sorry, that in comes off the top
hursh, I have that one, doesn't it start from the top right i, though.....
harp - does that cat have a helmet on or a lemon rind?
yeah, but une's clue is a correct one
nut, I don't know who janet evanovich is..... : /
*quickly steps in to protect babbler from nut* *remembers babs has monster kit, steps aside to watch the fun*
babsy, just go find a picture of a rotund golden retriever and tell everyone its bob.
*let's hursh have some martini (shaken not stirred) from monster kit* ;D
monster kit?
oh, nut, did you miss the monster kit stuff yesterday? it was so funny. GW created a thread for it on BabAnon under other interests...
nut, I got scared watching The Others on tv last night, so I ran screaming into the chat log, and everyone here very kindly put a monster kit together for me! :D
thanks babs :)
no way, hursh! lol! right - just gonna nip out and get the papers.... brb... : )
Right, I've got the non-moving in5, what's the other bottom row i....? On second thoughts, could anyone just post me cluez for all the words beginning with vowels, plz....? I can never get them all without assistance.....
i object to the omission of targ. klingon pets should CLEARLY count.
nice! should i watch the others? have you seen the village? i adore the ring.
Evan - yes you should watch "The Others"..... It's a fantastic ghost story, with a great twist at the end......
* jots down 'the others' * for next time nut has a minute to breath *
It's lemon cat, the evil twin of lime cat
lol harp
harp - i'm picturing lemon cat on a harley davidson. looks like some of the crazed bikers we get up here on "Motorcycle Weekend"
So... if I move less than you, I am in7 right?
one would think, sprite. one would also think one could pave a road again.
The dark and hidden secrets of the unable dictionary :)
and one would think one could add another layer of paint or that if a door-to-door salesman pressed the bell once and no one answered he might have done it again
* adds another layer of paint to hursh *
mmm, now i am VERY yellow
*sings "they call me mellooowwww yellooooowwww...."*
morning, all.
Hi Angel :)
morning, angel is there more than one gn, please?
hey angel
nope, just one
Richard is here
Good morning :-)
babbler just looked at themes who are janet evanovich and shel silverstein?
I'm missing the 1st In 4/4! Help?
* rolls eyes *
Janet Evanovich is a mystery writer. Shel Silverstein is a children's poet.
well that's a relief. janet evanovich is a mystery writer. shel silverstein writes poetry/books for kids, very funny.
shel silverstein is great!
Janet is very funny too.
ok thanks people
ruthy, get a gerbil and call him rex.
? evan
in-4 small trinket box
ruth, evanovichs main character has a gerbil named rex. sorry, i've been making suggestions for those unfamilliar with janet.
ok get it now thanx
Huh Ruthy?
Janet's books are titled in a series...One for the Money, Hot Six...etc.
cnan is in the puzzle more often than anyone, i think. well, peri is in a lot too.
i'll be unbearable tomorrow.
i can't believe i have found almost all the G's without the list when there are so many! if only i could get those last 2...
Good morning from New England to all. The New is actually nothing like the old England by the way. hurshy, spribe, Babbler -- I finished my first ever Sudoku last night. (sorry to all who've heard this for the zillionth time - as if anyone could care) I'm excessively pleased. I have one, count it, one point!
{{{mab}}} congrats!
mab - where in NE are you?
mab, WTG! And was it fun?
yeah mab! - * celebrator chalker mustache for you! *

Trying our patience!

{{{loly}}} i know it's only been a day, but i missed you somethin' awful
{{{{{{nut, une, sprite, babs, hurshy}}}}} ...squeezy hugs for all! Aww, missed you somethin' awful too hursh! ; )
Thank you. Curtsy, curtsy curtsy. (thanks nut, the mustache looks swell) It was, hm, illuminating, and when I finished I felt satisfied that everything was in its proper place. I used the reductio ad nauseum method that I read about.
...and squeezy hugs for mab! {{{mab}}} Congrats on your first sudoku! : )
Lola! Somewhat squeezy hugs {{{{{{{{))))))))))) I missed you, and hurshy, somethin' awful.
:) :) :) :) :)
I had to start today's sudoku over, screwed up somewhere, lol.
ahhh, look how happy you've made little hurshy mab! : )
sprite, haven't sudokued yet. I like to finish babble first : )
I had to start over too, Sprite. : / Mind you, that's probably cos I didn't sleep too well, on account of The Others being on tv last night... :s
Aww, anything for hurshy! Cliffopa, western Mass.
*whispers* Babs? I think I broke Anj! : /
:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
you BROKE anj! you must be a WILD woman, lola!
Good morning from California. How many words and points today?
oh noooooo, Lola! :s we'll have to put him back together with vinegar and brown paper! ; )
LOL!!!!
Ow Babbler, will he look cute in that :)
what does that nursery rhyme mean anyway?
Anj broken? Lola? Oh my.
never heard that nursery rhyme
babs, I think that's how they used to treat a bump to the head : /
We MUST Re7/32 him asap.
am going bonkers with chagrin bc organize cannot be got
Jack and Jill went up the hill To fetch a pail of water Jack fell down And broke his crown And Jill came tumbling after Up Jack got and home did trot As fast as he could caper He went to bed To mend his head With vinegar and brown paper : D
ooh, a clue!
evanout - they get the real, unedited, unmodernized nursery rhymes in britain -- unfair!
babs, do you know i never heard that second half before?
oh, wow, babs, i never heard the second stanza
there's a third part too, nut, something about a doctor... will have to google for that : )
I only know the dirty varieties of that one :)
BTW, mab, congrats on your first Sudoku! (3 beats late...)
sprite!
*waits hopefully for sprite to share her naughty nursery rhyme* } )
omg! The roots of the story, or poem, of Jack and Jill are in France. Jack and Jill referred to are said to be King Louis XVI - Jack -who was beheaded (lost his crown) followed by his Queen Marie Antoinette - Jill - (who came tumbling after). The words and lyrics to the Jack and Jill poem were made more acceptable as a story for children by providing a happy ending! The actual beheadings occurred in during the Reign of Terror in 1793. The first publication date for the lyrics of Jack and Jill rhyme is 1795 - which ties-in with the history and origins. The Jack and Jill poem is also known as Jack and Gill - the mis-spelling of Gill is not uncommon in nursery rhymes as they are usually passed from generation to generation by word of mouth.
babs, did you know that 'ring-a-rosie' is about the plague?
Thanks artlady. I'm all out of sync today too. Love the lemon chapeau - so becoming. I'm going to read that janet evanovich.
ooh yes, Sprite! tell us! ;D
would not gill be the one whose dog hid under her dress while she was beheaded?
J&J went up a hill to have a little fun Stupid Jill forgot the pill and now they have a son J&J went up a hill and on that hill he caught her Lots of love but timing off and now they have a daughter
yes, I knew that one, Lo : )
LOL! Thanks sprite ; )
mab - used to go visit family in North Adams.
* snicker *
LOL Sprite!!! Too funny!! XD
oh, cliffopa! i went to williams! did all the grocery shopping and walmarting in north adams!
the north adams DMV is the best in the world. i walked in there, there was NOBODY there, just went right up to the counter and transacted my business... can't beat that wait time!
been to north adams, but live more southerly in northampton (easthampton, actually - whatever).
i think dmv's in low populated areas are all the same. don't have to wait long in NH. Babbler (and others) does it not seem strange that many nursery rhymes originate from horrible events? if i had known as a child, i would have had serious nightmares.
Thinking of masters in ed at Cark Univ in Worcester.
LOL!! found more parodies! Jack and Jill went up the hill for some hanky panky Jill forgot to take her pill And now there's little Franky.
LOL :)
cliffopa, they're stories made palatable for kids. Mind you, some fairy stories are pretty scary..... : /
Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water Jill came down with half a crown but not for carrying water
mab! worcester! my son got undergrad and grad degrees at WPI. lots to do there, not bad for a city and all.
Jack and Jill went up the hill To fetch a pail of water. Jack fell down and died. Jill slipped into a deep depression and eventually killed herself. The End.
jack and jill went up the hill to find some words for scrabble at its height they found a site and now they both play babble
Jack and Jill Went up the track To fetch the pail again: They went with care, Got safely there, And finished the job they began.
good one, hursh! :D
Whahahahahahahaaaaaaa! Brillia nt, especially the last one. You were inspired :)
Jack and Jill Went up the hill Both with a buck and a quarter. Jill came down with two and a half. Did you think Jack went up for water?
hurshy, genius!
cliff, some of the stories I loved as a child are VERY gory but I only realised how much later. Somehow, a wolf eating 7 kids and then having his stomach slit open while he slept by the mother goat who replaced her kids with stones didn't make me think twice when I was 6! : D
oooh!! very rude! ack and Jill Went up the hill Smoking marijuana. Jack got high And unzipped his fly And asked Jill, "Do you wanna?" Jill said, "yes" And dropped her dress And said "let's have some fun." But stupid Jill forgot her pill And now they have a son.
*bows*
Rude but funny ;)
then there's ring around the rosy! yeesh!
hmmm, there seems to be a very popular theme...
and all because we were gonna mend Anj with vinegar and brown paper! lol! :D
babbler and hurshy, i am laughing so hard my stomach hurts. i'm reading out loud to the other adults in the house, they are cracking up as well!
cliffopa - last one: Jack and Jill went up the hill To fetch water from a well But when neither one could find it Jill started to yell. No well, no well Can't believe there's no well! We walked all the way here And I'm mad, can't you tell.
I think the babble version must go on the Babble pages somewhere!
yeah hursh!! go and put it in BabAnon!! :D
i have to write these all down....incredibly creative!
Put in the parody song section on BabAnon.
cliffopa - no need, they're all on wikipedia, Jack and Jill : )
Please.:-)
yes, do, hursh.
yeah hursh...start a poetry corner in bab anon! : )
jack and jill went up the hill to find mab, nut, and sprite when found they said can't go to bed we're babbling through the night
oooh! a poetry corner! great idea, Lola!! Lots of people write poetry here!
oh my, such clamoring.
have to chat to my mum....back in a bit : )
Sprite, you have some wonderful poetry, I recall. Will you put those in there too? I remember you had a gorgeous one that you keep on your fridge. : )
tis unanimous hurshy/
any clue for the ae6?
Babbler - What's your icon? It looks like an upside-down, golden chastity belt from here!
this one, Sprite - (I saved it) We meet as strangers, each of us carrying a secret. I can't say who you are; I might never get to know you completely. But I trust you are a person in your own right, filled with a beauty and a worth that are the richest resources on earth. Therefore I promise you this: I will not lay identities on you, but I will invite you to become yourself, without shame or fear. I will defend your right to find an authentic calling. For as long as your quest continues, you have my loyalty. Theodore Roszak"
lol Jac!! I never seem to have much luck when I pick gemstones!! It's a lemon yellow topaz. : )
AshtangaGal - ae6 - To supply with air or expose to the circulation of air.
Oh yes Babs, Sprite - great idea! hurshy is our renaissance woman, I believe: brilliant with words and mathematics.
thats me finished bye everyone
ok, there is now Poetry Corner, go poem-wild!
Babbler - a precious stone, eh? I believe you.;-)
thank you, jacula!
Well done sha!!!! Bye!!!
congrats, Sha! : ) see you later
Well done, Sha.
*peers at icon* ..?? I don't see a chastity belt, Jac. ; )
First words I *saw* today were a phantom 'incisor' and a phantom 'ginger'.
chastity? what's chastity? * wink *
Seem's Nut's fast not slow.LOL.
No maple trees...still (acer).
nut, isn't that like when you give to the needy?
oooh! that'd be charity!
oh yeah, i have no chastity then, i am the chastity!
I don't know nut. Cher's daughter, I think.
oh dear - well, i guess i can't be chastity then.
lol! I just refreshed and got your icon, nut!! fab!
tx babs, couldn't find any lemons, so i'm on fun icon overload!
anyone have clues for either of the ga 6/24's? i've been so busy reading the chat i'm stalling on my last 40.
little beard, and Rockford actor James
ga 6/24 actress jennifer of alias ga 6/24 another kind of belt, not chastity...
ga6/24 - to gather or acquire (as in grain or facts). ga6/24 - a bride might wear a blue one.
perfect clues hurshy. ty.
oh, the little beard was one of my missing G's! now i just need one more from that center G!
oops, that first one is a go.
Cliffopa - That'll be ga4/6 (Scots for gone)

Hello Tigereye.
hi tigereye : )
i am beginning to think when we figure out which g i am missing i will need a big fish
hi-ho, tigereye
Hursh - It must be the other ga4/6 then - to yawn or gape.
Hursh - sounds like to profit.
no, i have that one too. :(
I'm going to have a look at the papers. Catch you all later! :D
gn - growl?

hooray! go oxford! the fighting shoes? (have they a mascot?)
ca5/12, is that? Ca*** Blanche.
i have that one!
You might guess from that, that I was originally from Oxford.
i think carzine should be a word a magazine about cars, or that you read in a car
you lucky wren, you. i would give anything to be from oxford.
I'm completely in the dark regarding the boat race but pleased as punch that Oxford won for you Ex-Wren. Was it against Cambridge, or a bigger race? Rowing?

Throws Anj some whisky covered bird seed !!!
hursh, the one that rhymes with german no : )
hooray, another grey box!
hursh, the first ze 4/9 sounds like the word for no in german. also spelled like the re 4/4 that has to to with a horse's bridle.
and some of us still need clues for those rumored OC's
take two -- any cluegivers for ca9?
hursh, the oc7...o plus what god did in 7 days : )
start backwards from oc 7/32 = o + when you draw a picture you cr**** something pretty (or not)
ca9 - make ca6 - egg container - into a participle
time for a break... later all :D
Is everyone behaving today?
Time for lunch BBL Have fun all!!! :))
ca 9 = take the word for a box that holds multiple packs of cigarettes and add the last three letters of what people do on the internet surf***
*lola sits up straighter and pretends to look for words*
Artlady: I LOVE your icon! XD Aaaand I'm off...revision time :/

bonker: a bacterium is one where you see pop stars perform is another
one ar 5/10 is where professional sports are often played
another ar 5/10 is the word for what you get when multiplying length x width plus second vowel on the end.
awsome...thanks
*hums happily again*
ok, not to be difficult again, but other than not moving, what i word comes off the bottom?
Anj, you okay babe??

green ac**
there's an ae6 and an ae4. The ac is a measure of land : )
ty leslie, fish!
Did you get the z zion? WWII Japanese z4? look diagonally right and add the suffix.
no more chalk mustaches - finito!
OHHHHHHHHHHHH FIIIIIIIIIIIIIISSSSSSSSSSSSHHH HHHHHHH!
nope, not if you don't open the list, hurshy!
Evan, you can't let people beat you down. Or do you prefer Nut??
Awww nut. And you enjoyed it so. Don't give it up.
(whispers...) I have lots of paint, it's better than chalk...
Woot! Go huuuurshy! Go huuuurshy! : D
alright, well, i have 15 to go and i don't think you guys can be of help if i want to keep trying w/o the list... i'll just have to hope people happen to ask for ones i'm missing... or get the list...
i like nut quite well, thank you art lady! me, beat down? * chalk mustache for artlady! *
ooooh * lovingly gazes at all of art lady's paints *
that was not an insult btw, i just meant the ones i have left are ones where there are so many it's hard to narrow down. i need 4 C's 5 R's 2 S's and 4 T's
i think i'm going to go do something productive. last call for anyone needing a clue.
right, I'm off to check out sudoku. Hursh, you know where to find me if you want help ; )
Hurshy, you're far better at this than I am! I don't get far at all before I go to the list. Sigh. Maybe someday...
thanks loly. trouble is, if i get the list, i prob won't need help, and without it, i can't ask very well. :)
hursh, if i had one of those letters done i would help, but just finishing off the a's myself!
Cliff, this is quite productive! (altho my husband doesn't think so...)
artlady, i agree (and have the same prob w/my husband) but since i got hooked on babble i've neglected my hobbies.
okay, I'm back. Not an exciting icon, but easy to understand...
i think i'm going to take a walk in the would, later!
would - s/b - woods - ;-)
question ..whats the best way to avoid losin g all the boxes you tick off for the words you find ?
Bubyyye nut. Watch out for bears.
do bears like nuts?
bye evanonut...
zion, i'm not sure i understand your question?
before i go, anyone know what tomorrow's theme is?
i mean on lickertys babble clues , when you do a message it refreshes !!
themes are in my profile, cliffopa. : )
are you doing this all in one window? just open it in a separate window
or print off maybe ? thnxs
Hi everyone! Have a few hours I didn't count on having today. Thought I would give the grid a go.
hi musicmom
hi musicmom! Happy Day!
Babbler - I know there is already a theme for April 21 but would you put my birthday there too? :-)) Please??
is it coincidence that the theme for my b'day is mystery and imagination, or are you saying something about me?
'course, Musicmom!! 22 April?
Thanks Stid. I've been missing everyone. This past week was CRAZY!!!! I was supposed to have a home show for my business today but noone showed up. On the one hand it is bad for business, but on the other hand I don't mind having some down time.
oops 21 April
21 April. Thanks a bunch!
Hey Babbler! Can we have VW bug day sometime?
Now Hurshy --- what would we be saying??? <g> Did you get more rest this week?
done, musicmom! (and hurshy - lol!) : )
ty
aaaaaaaah....no bears, and i don't think they like nuts anyway. but if any had been spotted lately, be sure would have brought a gun with me.
harp - done! : )
Calamity Nut.
i am well rested now, mm, thank you for asking.
mab, couple years back we had a bear around with twin cubs, no messing around with mama bears (as apposed to mama bear), they're mean!
calamity nut... that sounds like a candy bar
Yay Babbler!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! {{{Babs))))) (right squeezy hug broken)
That's good to hear Hurshy. Glad things are better.
the last three ca's? ca7/32, 8/25, 7/32?
errrkk!! thanks Mab!! {{{hugs}}} :D
Oo, a mama bear! I haven't seen a bear since I was a child.
Why isn't 'rezeroing' a word?
how many words today?
190 words today
probably for the same reason that redrew is a word, dave. 199 words.
redrew IS a word?
190, sorry. See Angelsong's Babble Page link at right for more details.
had one waltz through the field last year, hubby nut yelled out 'hey bear', it just looked over its shoulder and kept on walking.
i think that was in yesterday's puzzle. along with undrew, which someone deftly pointed out is when you fire ms. barrymore from a movie
Actually, dave, it was 'undrew,' yesterday.
you mean undrew, mab, lol
The Babble Rules even list "volt" and "revolt" as legit
clue for the last or 5/10? I'm resorting to monkey typing, so it's probably really obvious...
don't see the problem there.
volt and revolt are both legit...
revolt=to rise up and fight or resist.
so why not rezero?
i thing that definition is slang dave
Thanks for the word but can you not post grid words in the log please.
zero is a verb...I used to be a science teacher and would rezero the balances every hour.
The Enable dictionary's logic is hard to divine, dave.
Oh mab, I love your lemons!!
ok...sorry if I've said too much
Dave, it wasn't a word in the grid anyway, so you're ok. I mean, it was there, but not valid.
ae 6/ 18 pls ?
artlady... just got it... or + first two letters of opposite of day + plural letter
Oops, my mistake...pardon me! Duh...
Not at all, dave -- this is the chat log after all. Thanks artlady. I thought I would see lots of edsels today.
LeslieAnn, thanks. I swear I typed that!!
The z4 and 7 are in the grid tho.
i got ae 6 now lool
and a z8! this convo is becoming very helpful for me.
oh never mind my computer lied to me. no z8
Yay zion! Hi FMitch. mmm....it's lemons. Lemons, FMitch, not lemmings. Never mind. (I love it)
LOL mab, glad you got it!!
yeah, I saw that after I opened my mouth, FMitch. That'll teach me! Concentrate on the grid arty!
yooo mab
Sorry guys. Dropped out for a bit. had to google dimensions of a basketball court so Sarah can mark the free throw line in the back yard. The things we do for our children! Can't she see I'm babbling on the porch?
artlady, lol, good to see you , been a long time.
an 4 ?
Hurshy I was trying to be you today. But I give - I'm going to the list. I don't like not knowing what I'm looking for.
an 4: like a spice related to licorice... or the dill plant; an + verb "to be" third person sing
Afternoon all! How's the puzzle today? Should I try it or just stick with scrapbooking for the day? :)
a different spelling for your bumm - zion
hi Jen! 190 words, some pretty obscure...
I don't think it is too bad Jen
Hi Jen, I would say, stick with scrapbooking. I've stopped at 123 and won't finish this one (lost interest).
Hey all :) I'm back to finish the grid
Good evening, all.
Hi back, Mitch. I had to take a 3 month leave from Babble. Too many things going on.
hi Tigereye!
Hi Haz.
I hope to finish...with all my crutches, that is!
Hi Haz
hi Tiger.
hi Haz -- how far did you get earlier? I just got back on, at 75 words now...
Hmmm, I'm torn... but I'll probably stick with the scrapbooking today. I am stuck in 2004 and I need to completely catch up before I hopefully start work in July.
Hi Haz, Tigereye.
jen i'm stuck in 2001 so don't feel bad! ;)
I was on this afternoon for a while, though severely disrupted by husband needing me to do stuff for him. I'm starting up again at 117 words.
2004 Jen! I hope 2005 wasn't too, too eventful. What a great idea, by the way - a scrapbook for every year.
thnxsss stid and momm a cheeky clue ( bumm lool)i got it
Scrapbooking is one craft I have never explored. I am afraid it will become another obsession like quilting. I don't have time for that.
Jen, good for you. Better than leaving all your photos in a box...for years...until you forget what they're of...Oh, that's me...
Me too, arty.
sorry zion. Cheeky was all I could come up with. (love the pun by the way)
I have Ca8 and Ea8 whats the third one?
gr8
actually mab, 2005 was eventful! We moved from NE to Washington DC, went to Disney for the 1st time with our son, went to Busch Gardens... sigh. Yup, scrapbooking it is! Now if I can just print up all my pics without running out of ink! LOL
Jen, it sounds like it was an eventful year. Full of fun and changes!
stuck on ar 4/5 !!oh im rubbish loool
now why shouldn't it take enron??! Seems like babble isn't up on its current events :P
ar 4/5: name of a brand of gasoline...
enron is a proper noun
back soon.
(musicmom has to shoot a few free throws)
ar4/5 - add first two letters of Miss Rice's name (visited Britain and Iraq)
I know, I know.... :P
Actually i have to put perishable food away, but i've been known to throw a few free throws:-))
although, if it took that, it could also take "enroning" which i believe should refer to certain questionable accounting practices
sorry zion, forgot your flag! good thing haz is here...
It'll only be a useful clue if you've been following the news, Zion!
lol, LeslieAnn!
thnxsss haz, np mamma ,mine england flag :)
anyone know how many words in this one
haz.... i got it thnxss ,she visited blackburn yesterday, then iraq today
190
Well, now that I have pumpkin patch, pumkin carving, and halloween party all printed up, on to the scrapbooking!! TTFN :) Send creative vibes my way!
Hey all... back to chat a bit...
bye jen!
later Jen, hi Jera!
well thats bad news..lol --thanks
zap zap, jen...that's my version of creative vibes!
Has anyone ever entered a word that it says you've already used but isn't on your list?
Jen Jen!
try refreshing, puppy, that may help
Psycho - refresh the screen. Hi Jera.
Psycho - yes it happens from time to time. do a refresh F5 and usually that sorts any hic ups out. :)
HI Everyone, anyone else playing?
Yes, peri, I am.
Jen is planting a pumpkin patch?? Sorry I missed that bit...
Hi Peri...plugging along...
scrapbooking jera
hi periwinkle... and I think I just hit a milestone of sorts... I actually recognized the last two na 4/4 without help! woo hoo!
hey, peri!
babble is implanting words in your brain stid! hooray!
Yes, stid. They appear a lot.
been away again -- death in the family -- now time to relax and work on the grid
sorry to hear that, pbr...
so sorry to hear that, pbr. welcome back.
az5/10 both of em ??pleassse

there's only one az ... like the last five letters of something lots of people read
If you put a mag in front, you would have a publication
thanks -- only 178 more to go!!
A pumpkin patch theme in her scrapbook? Okay. I planted actual pumpkins last week, so I'm in a garden frame of mind. Not too into the scrapbooking, though.
these ae words are eluding me.... help please?
sry got mixed up with ar
ae 6 - what you do to your lawn or ae + interest ****
Well, that was fun. My gray cells are now nice and active...thanks for the help and I'm off to clean the dining room. Ugh.

anyone care of a politically incorrect joke?
yes please nut
A midget in Texas went to the doctor because his testicles ached almost all of the time. The doctor told him to stand on the examining table and drop his pants. The doc put one finger under the midget's left testicle and told him to turn his head and cough - the usual method to check for a hernia. "Hmmm..", mumbled the doc as he put his finger under the right testicle, he asked the midget to cough again, "Hmmm, I see the problem," said the doctor and reached for his surgical scissors.
the last re5/10?
Snip, snip, snip, snip, snip, snip, snip on the right side, then snip, snip, snip, snip, snip, snip, snip, on the left side. The midget was so scared he was afraid to look, but noted with amazement that the snipping did not hurt. The doctor then told the midget to hop down off the table, pull his pants up, and then walk around and see if his testicles still ached. The midget was absolutely delighted as he walked around the doc's> office and discovered his testicles were no longer aching. The midget said, "That's perfect Doc, and I didn't even feel it! What did you do?" The Doctor replied, "I cut two inches off the top of your cowboy boots."
lol

a son goes to his father, a preacher, and asks if he can borrow the car. his father says if he'll go and get a haircut, he can. the son says, dad, you know Jesus and the disciples had long hair. and the father says, yes, son, and you'll noticed they walked everywhere they went.
he he heh
my turn again. suggestions of conversations starters while receiving a colonscopy
1. "Take it easy, Doc. You’re boldly going where no man has gone before! 2. "Find Amelia Earhart yet?" 3. "Can you hear me NOW?" 4. "Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?" 5. "You know, in Arkansas, we’re now legally married." 6. "Any sign of the trapped miners, Chief?" 7. "You put your left hand in, you take your left hand out..." 8. "Hey! Now I know how a Muppet feels!" 9. "If your hand doesn’t fit, you must quit! 10. "Hey Doc, let me know if you find my dignity." 11. "You used to be an executive at Enron, didn’t you?" 12. "God, now I know why I am not gay" And the best one of all... 13. "Could you write a note for my wife saying that my head is not up there?"

Just looked up tomorrow's theme -- who is Janet Ivanovich?
cyber, thats Evanonvich
too funny
greatest funniest mystery writer, thus my evanonut title.
OK -- evanovich -- who is she?
you gotta read one, find one for the money and read it.
Ev ...it's all making sense now. I had no idea what your name meant.
Guess I will have to look for one of her books the next trip to the book store.
Hey 'nut! making more converts?
yes, i'm so original, i know.
they're very popular, the library would have them
working on it chix, care to help? find your icon for tomorrow yet?
We don't have library service where we live, so haunt the used bookstore instead!
:O no library?
go to halfprice and get it for cheap cyber.
Why, yes, I did! My favorite book in the series...Care to guess which one?
high five? i love that one.
Kelowna has a library, but we live outside the city limits so it would cost us $180/year to join.
or eleven on top i bet
how many words in the puzzle?
I thot I was doing so well, and now I am stuck on a na4/4 -- I have na+4th vowel+3 vowel, I have na+4th vowel +plural letter what the heck am I missing? pls
Four to score- as things really heat up in that one....
190 words -- go to angelsongs stats page for run down.
ahhhhh, dontcha love the innuendo of the titles
the lincoln-esque innuendo? four score and seven years ago, our fathers brought forth on this continent a new nation conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.
pbr -- the na 4 you want comes before the two with all the vowels -- think of me pluralized.
Yeah, that's why I was saying she never explained 11 on top.... Have to read it again, I guess. I see that 12 doen't come out until June 30th...
ooooh -- that is a scary thought!
all the titles for those that don't know evanovich: - one for the money -two for the dough - three to get deadly - four to score - high five - hot six - seven up - hard eight - to the nines - ten big ones - eleven on top - hey, where'e my twelve go!
hint: that last one isn't real
Must get back to my sewing -- spring is arriving and my skinniest granddaughter need some clothes! -- back at the flip :)
maybe it'll be twelfth nightshade
the twelve days of ranger
you mean danger?
no, i want twelve days of ranger.
oh, ok
cybernan -- thanks for the hidden clue -- gosh, why is it the simple ones that get me -- moving on 82 more to go
Dirty Dozen?
but don't you think twelfth nightshade would be... elegant?
hursh, there's nothing elegant about stephanie.
My cat's name is Nightshade. But elegant she is not.
dirty dozen is certainly more accessible, though, and more in keeping with the other titles
Okay. So people showed up to my party 2 hours late. I'm going to have to play later:-)
certainly not, hot six was not called hot half dozen
actually it's called Twelve Sharp; went to evanovich.com
* winks at chic *, thanks babe, couldn't remember it.
In four to score Stephanie Plum scores with Joe Morelli....if you know what I mean....
chic, i'm still rooting for ranger.
Ok I'm being particularly thick - any clues for te5/14 please
You like him 'cause he's an outlaw while Joe is in the law...They both sound like hotties to me....
chic, i like him because he's...* drooling * he's, * perspiration*, oh,....i'm not telling you why!
ga5 anyone ?
ga5 - French for gathered - used with bouquet ***** as a collection of herbs
good clue - I was just going to say bundle of herbs!!
ga 5 is a cooking term having to do with making a posy out of herbs or use the 6/24 change the last vowel and get rid of the last letter
thnx but dnt know french and dnt av 6/24 only one of them lool
does 'hubbynut' know?
hubbynut doesn't read unless he has to, so no.
i imagine it would make excellent dinner conversation though. "darling, i have something to tell you" - "yes sweetums" - i have a recurring fantasy of a character in a book i read" - "that's nice dear, pass the pork"
My hubby thinks I'm crazy when those books make me laugh hysterically outloud....
i love when lula and the bacon are chased down the street by the dogs.
KatieW 5/14 - The upper or dorsal surface, especially of a body segment of an insect or other arthropod.
Thanks Mari - good clue
Good clue - but did you get it??
of course not, but I didn't want to disappoint you!! got the dictionary out now :)
Ever think the money on my education was wasted?
Often!!
I really should reread them all. It was some time ago that I started them. Having grown up in Northen NJ helps me picture the attitude and images....
go 5/18 anyone?
i'm having no trouble with the attitude images, however, people around here say i have a bit of an attitude, so...:-/
chic go5/18 makes loud noise
or ready for dinner !!
go5 is a plural of the thing that goes booooong.
Chic plural of the 4/8 above
thanx, mab, mari and zion... I was looking for a new word....
Mari - could I have another clue please?
nut, zion's icons scare me. You should keep bees.
'nut, with your attitude you could probably play Stephanie yourself ;-)...
mab - what you tellin me for, i hardly know zion. want to borrow my glock?
can someone pls give me a clue for the re 7/32 can't figure it out
Will E-mail
te 5/14, same first three letters as the one before and after it + babble is my favorite word **me

Thanks bunny you are on the same wave length as me.
yw :-)
he is scary!
YW
No fever, just insane. Bees have terribly complex social patterns. And honey is so wonderful. Then there are flowers, the rural setting, etc. I think it would be awfully interesting, beekeeping. Hi Snowy.
* checks snowy's glass * doesn't look funny, *sniff* doesn't smell funny, * scratches head *
did you read The Secret Life of Bees? sooo good
Hi Mab! I agree about the honey - fantastic! Flowers & sunshine on a spoon - yummy
scratch snowy - should say mab - haha
Well, you don't sound scary, zion. Are you Jewish? Or does zion refer to something else? (I'm jewish)
i wanna read the secret life of ranger.
"the secret life of bees" was an excellent read...
Hi eva1 I was so taught to use capitals for names that I find it a very hard habit to break! Same with the potty training - got to go before I leave the house!
I did read that book, Une, when I was in grad school. nut, is it the leather thing with ranger?
the audiobook was amazing--won awards . . .
I liked it quite a bit.
i've just finished, thankyou for the help, going to watch rubbish tv now but will try the books soon.
not jewish or any religion thnxss, zion is from the matrix !!av you not seen it mab?
snowy, my work computer program broke me of that, all caps in it. mab, it's just ranger...ranger..rangeeeeeeeer

Congrats Sheryl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!

OOOH & Katie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!

I haven't finished a grid for ages now -been too busy with the grandchildren & the fun day for the Brownies. Hoping to start having more time now as my son is home for 18 days.
the ca 8 is the plural
that gr 7 is what I might call Kermit the Frog!
Sheryl thanks so much ...a great clue
to7/44? hint, please?
Une its your to4/8 in verb form.
to4/6
thanks, mab :-)
to4/6....its in your mouth minus the last two letters
how old are you then mab ?
Okay, so all of the Halloween festivities are in the scrapbook... but I forgot about our HUGE Colorado trip from back in Aug2004! (howdy all again!)
Hi Jen!
I'm late middle aged, let's say.
Ok ok 50
mab -thats not late middle age!!!!!!!!!!! Thats only 10 years after life began! I know - I'm older than you!LOL
I'm surprised snowy. I didn't think there were many here in my age arena.
<<<<<<38 and still growing lool
there are several grandmas who babble...
mab, 50 is the new 40!
I think there are quite a few mab. I'm 52 this year and CATHB too -she's 8 days older than me.
oh, well then. that's a great age. not old, not young, juuuust right.
I guess that makes me a baby at 18 then?
and i am 65 next month....where have all the years gone!!!!
you are only as old as you think you are! I'm older than you guys but I don't know it!
I love that, chic! It's somehow comforting to know that others are around one's own age, even though age doesn't matter that much here.
in4 pls ? not the one with 2 init
Well I'm just about growing into it. 50 was a bit scary - but then my husband will be 59 next week & is dreading 60! But I think any age is young now if thats how you feel!
Oh you can tell when some people remember Buster Crabbe series and Howdy Doody show etc...lol....
My next door neighbour who has a mother of 90 who had her 1st cigarette last summer! She's fantastic for her age & great fun!
it's howdy doody time, it's howdy doody time
Get out mo! I am very surprised, even though I don't know how I would have any idea how old anyone is, given that this is cyberspace. Yes, tigereye, virtually an infant. Although, again, I wouldn't have guessed.
50ish is definitely NOT middle age... more like late youth! (and as I am coming up on 34, I firmly feel that way) :)
hey did anyone see that episode of andy griffith where barney did something stupid and the criminal almost got away? (tee hee)
hurshy, I know that you are quite young, relatively, but you have an old soul. Definitely.
and isn't wally cleaver DREAMY!!!!
Babble is obviously a game that unites all age groups -just how it should be
sshhh, mab, i'm trying to fit in, this is my version of a fake ID
dont feel that age mentally though.... i still see people probably my age or younger, and think they are a generation older than me...if that makes sense
'sunrise, sunset, sunrise, sunset, slowly go the yeeeeeears'
nobody else has crush on wally? :( :( :(
43 here... depends on the day how old I feel but generally much younger...
mab when you get to this age they deffinately do not go slow!!!
Know just what you mean Mo -I have a neighbour who is 10 years older than me. 25 years ago she was really 'old' in her looks and her ways but she's sort of grown into her looks & now hasn't seemed to age at all
yep, mo, and there's a river in Egypt called 'de Nile'
i feel precisely 52.634
Hurshy, I've never seen the show so i have no idea who he is
Wally, funnily enough, looks exactly the same now. I never had a crush on him. In fact, the entire family made me a little sick. Beaver was such a blockhead. And can you imagine being married to Ward? I liked the Donna Reed show. More realistic.
43.005 here :-)
beaver IS a blockhead, but wally is HOT! tvland haiku: leave it to beaver and you'll be sorry you did boy's dumb as a stump
My best friend started acting matronly when she was about 25! Talk about a blast to go out with when we were both still childless, hubbys away on deployment, and had great places to go out in SPain.
i guess i like how mama cleaver is always so sympathetic and thinks ward is too hard on the boys... my mom was not like that...
chic ... very true!!!
Can you imagine them in bed together? Forget about it. shudder.
more haiku: with fife on patrol mayberry's thin blue line has never been so thin
how do i stop if i found all the words i can?
lol, mab - i try to avoid picturing ANY couple in bed together...
you just... stop, Ldy
didn't everybody have twin beds back in the fifties? at least on tv....
there's no brakes or anything
I've known people like that, Jen. Matronly young women and fogeyish young men (my ex brother in law)
must rush ...night all, see you soon
they never show ward and june's bedroom at all
there you go. Nobody had sex in the '50's just imaginations!
Bye mo.
lol, that reminds me of on seinfeld when george turns out to be really smart if he doesn't have sex...
brb, need a snack...
i go out for a walk and you all turn to sex, could you not wait till i came back?
sweet dreams mo
nuts woods walk adventures: 1) found a dead deer 2) found dead deers leg several yards away 3) followed a deer trail 4) though she followed deer trail back, got lost etc.
Last comment on this topic: Donna Reed and her husband were definitely having sex on the Donna Reed Show. I wouldn't let Ward touch me ever ever ever.
Hah mab! Half the guys in the squadron were like that! We always had a rule, if the guy was fun to be with (cool, easy-going), then the wife was a prude, and then vice-versa. We never seemed to find a couple that was fun.
what exactly is so awful about ward? i don't find him particularly attractive, but not particularly repulsive either.
evanonut, I wasn't talking about sex!!!
Can't really say on Ward, I just get powerfully bad vibes on him. yech.
more's the pity jen.
Yuck Evanonut!
snowy, anti sex? isn't that how you got here?
or were you hatched? if so, do tell!
I think snowy is anti dead deer in the woods, in bits.
schwer wants to know how many words there are. please?
aaaaaaaah - yes well, i didn't touch it, i just sort of stepped around it, and hoped my dog wouldn't find it later.
190
Not sex evanonut! dead deer!!!!! I can remember sex!!!! LOL
101 words and im goin cyas gnite
can't help it i found a dead deer, you want me to make up a story instead. the lovely doe approached me, it looked a little peaky, and i could see it's bones it was so thin. and can you believe it chucked it's leg away?
'nite zion!
night zion LOL evanonut! I think thats a much better story
zion, you've morphed. Night.
I've done that nut - found a dead deer and followed the trail. I am curious to see who et it.
actually, i just wanted to see what was at the top of the hill.
rather not run into whatever et it. what with the creatures we have out here?
got hungry for lemon meringue pie...Anyone care for a piece?
hmmm, thinking that would undo all the good i had from walking.
to be fair, shouldn't we have a lime day?
beats me with a stick.
ok ra 5/10 the first one, please...
Is that the one that is more unlikely? ra5?
no, MM, that's the third one...
Okay. Sorry Chic - that is the only one I have so far.

oh, and hi ya'll...new player.
Welcome fig.
hi fig! hi kks!! Welcome to Babble!!! Good clues MM and Seflalala! Sef - I had no idea it meant that. It's been in the grid before.
Musicmom - May I ask you a music-type question, please? We're thinking about getting our new church choir director a conducting baton. What would you recommend?
Hi smaller. i'm about to head out. Probably about 10 more minutes. I'm exhausted tonight.
Hey MM- busy weekend?!! Sleep is oh so superduper important. I'm going to try to get a lot tonight. I"M GIVING UP COFFEE TOMORROW!!! yikes!!
You want to get a Mollard baton. It would be best to get your director an empty case and a gift certificate. Mollard makes balanced batons (wonderful to use) but it is best for the user to try them out. Kind of like wizard wands in Harry Potter<G>
Thanks, MM. I'll look into that brand.
Oh no 0- giving up coffee. YIKES!! I love coffee. I had a busy week. My boss got grounded at the airport in Austin and I had to sub two of her classes we had a busy girl scout weekend and I had to do a home show today. Oh and we sat through two charity basketball games last night.
gwenski - you're welcome
A baton would just be SO much better than the pencil he currently conducts with!!
!!!!! MM !!!!! How is it possible that you are still functioning?!!! You are quite the trooper!
LOL Gwenski!!!!
OH absolutely. Mollard makes very pretty carrying cases you could get as a way to present the gift certificate. Mine is a cherry wood handle and short because I am.
ths for the re 7/32
anyone...a clue pls re 5/10. its my last word and i'm sooo tired
I'm barely functioning. Check out some of the typos I've made tonight. In fact, I think I will head out. Greg is home from his gig.

stid mama...thanks. i guess i was spelling it wrong. silly figlet
music mom - thanks to you too. didn't see your post.
How do you know when you are done? Is there a point total you work towards?
thanks guys
also, how do you guys know that you are looking for certain words?
kks - you get 'all' the words....puzzle lists total ynumber of available words.
Kristinc: Are you there?
if you sign up for deluxe version (10 bucks, lifetime) , then you can see total nummber of words starting with each letter, and total number of words of a given length. the rest is by kind clues :-)
thanks fig
you can also look under bab anon and ther is a list under general, than stats
ok, I LOVE "ing", soooo many more words just from that ending. love love love
re-at7/36 should be a word b/c I do it all the time. since after i do the first at7/36, i never learn. do it again to need another at7/36.
Hi JoJo...sorry, got called away for a bit. We have small groups on Sunday nights and only every other so this is our off week.
lol smaller
Kristinc: Glad to have you on the grid on a Sunday. So, how are things going with you and your church? OK?
Good evening everyone! Been lurking silently, plodding away, and have 6 left to find. Can anyone help me with: ar5 na4/4 (not the temple, or the one that sounds like chaos) oc6/21 to7/44 to5/14 (the second one) I'll have to go back to BJ's list to find the other's I'm missing but these would be a big help!
ar5: latin plural of ar4/4
JoJo...good. We just finished an extensive outside rennovation, new sod, new sprinklers, new look. It is a 75 year old building and this update was long overdue. People are really excited now which is always great and makes us excited too! Thanks for asking.
Eva -- ar 5 #1: like the latin plural of the at 4/4 ar 5 #2: a place to play sports, means "sand" in the original language
na 4/4: more than one girl named Na*** Drew
to 7/44: gerund of to 4/6
thanks gwenski & stidmama! It was the latin plural i was missing
to 5/14 #2: plural of to 4/6
oc 6/21 looks like latin plural of oc5
oc 6/21: if you have oc 5, add the second vowel to the end...
Kristinc: In this day an age, when I see the new houses going up in our area, I just cringe. Our house was built in '62, and it is a tough house. I wouldn't trade it for any new one ever. The older the better. The older ones were built to sustain earthquakes, and have copper piping, not plastic.
stid-thanks so much! Rolling along here. Didn't know that one could make a verb out of the to.. now I do. But the to5/14 I need is the second one. I already have the plural of the pinchy thing.
JoJo-yes, our house was built the same year as the church (in the 30s) We're in a very historic neighborhood so people are pleased to see us keep up both the house and the church instead of tear it all down.
alphabetically, then you need the first to 5/14: spelled like a place; add a vowel to the end of the to 4
JoJo...what have you been up to?
hi everyone! back to finish
I need to get to bed, but it sure would be nice to get both 9's first, considering I won't be able to finish tonight. Any kind soul wish to help?
hi TempleOwl! I am sitting here, ignoring my parental responsibilities...
okay-just missing 2 now. The second to5/14 and an unknown r. I hate r's. More than liver. More than brussel sprouts. More than anchovies (oh maybe not). But a lot!!! Back to the r lists.
i could use a clue for the az please...
re9- re+ea 7/36 (to make a living)
clue for the in8 by any chance?
gwenski, the 9's; re 9: to make money again (re 6/18) + gerund end ca 9: ca 6/21 (a box) + gerund end
hi TO! missing that one too, maybe someone will take pity on us ;)
ro6/24 and the 5/10 before it?
az: maga****
in 8 doesn't exist... which one do you need?
ro 5/10: what a fiddler uses on the strings before playing ro 6/24: make the ro 5 a gerund
sorry in7...
Thanks stid! Got 'em. (Although I really need to go to bed, cuz I still can't see how you can get the re9 in the puzzle!) Good night, all.
in 7: a person who does not appreciate a gift
in 7/28 i am missing. sorry, i'll be even more clear.
goodnite Gwenski...well done!
thanks stid, but i had that one...there is another one?
re7/28 anyone?
okay, the other in 7/28: "free" workers who are from a college, plural of the previous
'night gwenski
BRILLIANT! thanks, stid!!
Kristinc: I think I said this before, don't know if you were on or not, but got back from the M's spring training. Yes, we have also upgraded our house as you have done. Have a hot tub, and a sauna in an out building. But, unfortunately we will have to sell it within the next year or two. The property tax in KC is horrid for us retired people. It will be hard for me to do so, since I raised my babies here. What have you been up to?
re 7/28: make re 6/18 #2 a plural
yw :-)
thanks stidmama : )
JoJo...our upgrades were on the church (I reread what I wrote, wasn't clear) our house is owned by the church and they did a wonderful remodel before we moved in in '04. Congrats on all your house work. Agreed, we couldn't afford to live in KC if housing wasn't provided. We're getting ready to go Mexico on Wednesday for our last baby-free vacation. Lots to do before we leave but we're very excited.
Thank you so,so much stid. "You havae zero words left to find" It's been quite a while since I had the patience to get to the end. Weather's been too good, but that's coming to an end tomorrow. All those poor flowers which have been pushing their heads up will get blasted. Rain tomorrow and then snow the day after. Maybe quite a bit of it.
stid- i don't get it=ro 6/24: make the ro 5 a gerund
YAY Eva! good for you!
hints on the in's? I have a few but am missing most
Lots of beautiful cats around.
stoning-add a 3 point letter to the end
stoningtoncat; gerunds end in -ing
Hooray eva! Do tell, about the beautiful cats! :)
you'd be surprised by the things you can add an ing to(-: Don't make any assumptions. Try them all.
Kristinc: Last baby??? Are you adopting a baby from Mexico? Where are you going in Mexico? We have a condo in Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan? Where are you going. I envy you going to Mexico this time of year.
Mine is named Merp and is lying next to me snoring. Who is your beauty?
Eva, isn't it a bit late for snow even in Vermont? Your poor flowers...
No, another vaguely typed phrase. I'm pregnant so we're taking our last trip as a family of 2. Outside Cabo San Lucas (San Jose del Cabo)
Unfortunately it's not that unusual. At least the trees haven't leafed out yet. Those are the really destructive storms. It may not be that bad right where I am...but they never know. I've been luxuriating in not loading the stoves up, but will probably have to start again. yes, poor flowers. But the usually survive.
Eva...this is Alsan, he also has a sister with long black hair and together they keep us very busy-almost 2 years old
hi all -- really stuck on the or5/10 -- any clues?
hi mom!!! How DARE you do t his to me!!!
in 7/28? (and am missing most of the in 5's)
or 5/10: or + single hump consonant + third person sing "to be"
Sorrry... but you have to admit it's crazy fun!
THKS STID AND EVA
in 7/28: the people who work for free in offices and on Letterman's show... plural of in 6/18 #2
Stid-awesome or5 clue...ty!
(grin) I monkey-typed that one today!
Kristinc: Ok, got it now. When is your baby due? So, you are going to Cabo. Went there on an exchange with our time share back in 2001. Hold on to your pocketbook, things are very expensive there. Not like Mazatlan and PV. A tank top there at Cabo was $30. I told the sales person that I could get the same tank at the Bon (now Macy's) for $9.99. So, barter with them, that is their culture, don't take their first price they offer.
TY Stidmama, couldn't find that anywhere
kristin-alsan looks very self-satisfied. Like he knows he's got it made.
my mom's name is Eva and she was born in West Pawlet, VT
JoJo-the baby is due the first of August. We're not big shoppers so no worries but I'll consider myself warned :)
Eva-you are spot on! :)
just have the in 5/10 and in6/18 to go... thanks everyone!
Kristinc: Have a wonderful time. When are U leaving?
ya ya...
got them - that was kinda stupid... :)
help w ca 9/72
stoning-there's not too many of us Eva's around, despite the fact that there are 3 on the babble list (although at least one of them isn't really an eva). It is a more old fashioned name, and was more common in Europe, which is where my parents came from. I only moved to Vermont about a year and a half ago, from Massachusetts. Where is West Pawlet?
ca 9: to put things in boxes; ca 6/21 just before + gerund ending
add action to a ca 6/21
Wednesday...very early and back the following Wed night, just in time for Easter and all that busyness!
stoning- for that ca9 think of packing things into boxes.
about half an hr. from Manchester
any thoughts on the first ra 5/10-fish anyone?
We're about 15 minutes from Montpelier. In the heavenly realm. Also the blackfly capitol of vermont.
Hey Eva -- another new englander here -- I'm in Norwood MA (south of Boston)
ra 5/10: what a person might call the weather when it precipitates... mispelled (of course)
Kristinc: Have a great time. When the baby comes, there will definitely NOT be time for Mexico, until they are older. Be sure to pack sunscreen. I didn't use to. I love the sun, but have had 2 cases of precursor to skin cancer. I Pack it now tho.
ra5/10-think of an alternate spelling for the Indian prince-different ending, but sounds the same
ra 5/10: you could also think of it as ra + what you put before a married woman's maiden name
i'm near Mystic CT
rebek-moved here after 15 years in Jamaica Plain and another 15 in the hills of Western Massachusetts.
Mystic is a beautiful town
hmm...new to me, thanks!
Thanks JoJo, we will :)
Is Mystic where "Mystic Pizza" was filmed?
JP is a happening place now, with new restaurants especially
rebek-bought my car at Boch Toyota.
yes parts were and many neighboring towns, stonington, and noank
so, mom.. how's this one gone?
Yup, JP got very chic. But I've always been much happier living in the boonies. Cities are just too much bustle and too little community and nature for me. Grew up in Manhattan and always thought I must have been switched in the hospital nursery and some lucky baby got to get out of the city(-:
raenha-who's your mom?
got distracted still thinking about ca- pack in boxes??
That's funny, I'm the opposite. When I visit my parents in Michigan -- in the middle of farmland, I can't wait to get back to concrete!
Kristinc: Ra** (like the going _ _ _ _, and an r for your ra5/10, don't know if it is the first one or not, but try.
mklein
stoning-take your 4th ca6/21-the one meaning a box, and add "ing" to it. You'll never have run across it before and probably never will again.

ec 6: e + ca4/5 with the second vowel on the end.
i can't get to the oh after the zer
i have that one already, stid...are there two to6's?
go in the other direction from the z -- northeast, then again, then straight north

te 5/12: latin for "third"; one of the monastic hours
ooh stid, don't scare me! :)
need ze 5/20
oh my dear, ain't nuthin' as scary as being a parent... or as wonderful. You will learn to live through the hard times, and thoroughly enjoy the good ones (which are fortunately moer numerous)
