See you tomorrow :)

di 7/36 anybody still here?
i'm here. not much help, though
This definitely is not one of the easier grids!
3 more words, then i go to bed...
yea, midweek is usually like this ... pretty dead... until some of the other continents wake up
this grid has a lot of "peculiar to Babble" type words....
chic, how many words have you got so far
I'm still here, barely, but haven't gotten to the di's yet...only 48 words so far ...but what is 'peculiar' to babble--everything seems to be babble-sque
52 so far....
I'm right behind you with 51 but can't see many more!
Hi everyone - lunch time here.
ji 4/20 made me giggle
I have 3 more 8's and 4 more 7's to find....
chic, how do you know how many you have left, is your grid up already
Hey brenn - that word is ummm, yes - well, lets just say you won't find it in the A to Z work list ;-)
well, 53 & sleepy; tomorrow is another day of babble angst and blindess
scatty - you could use my clue list to know ;-)
where is your list
scatty, try refreshing. Mine comes up right away then...
'nite, Shadow...
got it cheers
good afternoon all
nite'all
Hi Arisha!
Hey there. Geez - the A's in this one are so hard
okay, i feel...underage, like someone is going to tell me to go to bed soon. i think that's a sign. goodnight all.
the daylight saving ending means i didn't get to finish yesterdays, oh well new words ,new eye strain :p
Morning dear gang :)

Nice one, chic! :) Thnx.
so 8/55: cola + last syl of bromide
phenakis, that is almost giving the word away...
sorry...new to this...
was just happy to know one that the board didnt... ;-)
morning all
Welcome here. Hope you enjoy the game. We always try to give clues that aren't obvious, so it still takes some puzzling to solve. That way it is more fun :)
gotcha. sorry again
Has anyone found many cide suffixes?
Only E7/40 so far.
ec 7/40- all my clues for this are politically biased
Yeah, got that one... spending time looking for others. It's baking the noodle a bit. :)
My braims are fried, time for bed. Catch you all tomorrow...'nitey, nite...
Night chic :)
ah 6: somehow, nonviolence is involved.
Done :) Any clues needed before I split?
di 7 40?
That's a chemical word. Only the last two letters differ from the other D7.
Thanks!
yw :) I am off for today, happy hunting to you all!
Have a good un!
ma7/36 - cheers!
plus ma8/50 -
First time i've tried this site, but following the pattern, H 9/78!
"i thought you said she was dead" "that was her sister, the wicked witch of the east. this is the wicked witch of the west, and she's worse than the other one was."
morning all!
hiya bexie :)
do you understand my quote below?
hurshy are u not on im?
hurshy - how much is a postage stamp now? 39 cents?
yes i think so dianne
thanks.
know what's sad? That someone like Sprite, for whom English is, presumably, not her primary language, can get all the words and me? I hardly ever get more than half of them sigh.
Well, I officially give up at 87 words. Night all, have fun
im done.
oggy gets *~*~*~FIREWORKS!~*~*~*
ha8/60 & ha9/78 this puzzle is frighteningly hard!!
Hi mrp - thought I was all alone.
I cannot believe ji 4/10 is in there.
and you tried it...............
cause he did :p
Im desperate, im not as good at this as others are.
it is just time and patience
Does anyone have all the am words?
french for friend is one am word
how many am words are there?
g'morning, g'day, g'evening good grief. 2 inches of snow last nite!
I finally figured out the ha 8 and 9...this board is hard today
have the ha, ma & so 8's anyone know what's missing?
pinecone - there are 16 am words.
thank you Dianne...I'm missing 4..okay, I'll keep looking
lshut - there is an in8
ty Dianne, got all the 8's now, missing just one 7. got di x2 ec in ma any idea what i'm missing?
you are missing da7/36.
pinecone - did you finish the am words?
yes, I found all the am words
that's great Dianne, still got97 words to find, but at least they are all 6 letters or less!!
pinecone - I'm looking for am5/14 - the second one (I think).
okay hurshy-I give. What's with the wicked witches?
look at the first am 5/14 and change the last vowel to a different vowel
pinecone - now that is a new one for me - thanks for the help.
hi guys!
hi atlante :)
have we got a theme today?
i'm not sure, but i think i heard it was shel silverstein (author) day
oooo. never heard of him? her?
how many possible words this time?
had some popular children's books - "Where the sidewalk ends" was my son's favorite.
168 total words
I loved "sidewalk ends" as a child
I read a bio of silverstein recently...he lived an interesting life. Dropped out of college and art school, went to work for Playboy as a cartoonist and would complain about the quality of children's books...so, some publishers put him up to the challenge of writing one...he had several books listed on the child bestsellers of all time
i looked around for an appropriate icon, but we had snow last night and my dog loves the snow. i gave him a "whitewash" and took this pic about 1.5 hours ago.
wow. been looking on google images and I don't recognise any of his books!
hellos
out of curiosoty, whats the theme?
pets?animals?
ok, I have a huge leap of illogic here. Instead of Silverstein I have Silverclaw, my kitten
Morning all... I was very bad & never finished yesterday... 60 left my ranking plummetted...
Who cares about logic, what a cute kitty! Looks just like my Zackie as a baby!
hello there jera
ooooh thats a nice tartan Jera
she was 8 weeks old there! Now she's 8 months ...
Greetings, itry! What a sweet doggie, cliffopa!
Thanks, Atalante... it's National Tartan Day, you know (US)... so I had to wear my plaid!
Morning everyone!
National TARTAN day? Why don't we have National Tartan Day LOL!
hey jen. howsit?
I have an almost identical picture of Zack being held by my husband, Atalante! {{{JEN}}} I never finished yesterday, big surprise...
Good Morning all
{{Jera}} How was the Sprite's birthday?
Greetings, knutmeg... how's the littlie this morning?
C mon Vips! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jen... hectic & exhausting... but great fun! Now I need to start on the party planning...
kits are adorable at that age. they are all ears and eyes
help with MA 7 & 8 , Please. brain burning
Fussy..I hope she falls back asleep quickly, I still need a few more hours :-)
Now my kitten is a teenager... still annoyingly cuddly, LOL... I don't get how cats have an aloof reputation... both of mine are snugglebunnies...
I know the feeling knut...
sorry, i had to step away to put the dog out again. he just loves this snow! hi everyone who came in while i was gone.
my cat switches from aloof unavailable cat to omg mom! cuddles! about 20 times a day!
I have nothing over 6 letters... and only 2 of those (I just started)... I'm not up to helpful speed yet, sorry...
I'm glad it was nice though! I don't know what we are doing for munchkin's b-day... he starts summer school about 3 weeks before, so he might have a slew of new friends...
I'm going to be in & out a lot today... keeping my son home from preschool because I'm too tired to take him in, have nothing clean to wear, & he was bad yesterday, so great timing for a day off...
That will be so fun & exciting, Jen... it's a great feeling when your kid makes actual friends!
Sprite's old best friend from back home called last night at 8:45 to wish her a happy birthday... I let them talk past bedtime until the phone battery ran low... I like to nurture that relationship...
Whwn will your son's party be, Jen? Be sure & invite us!
X.X cant even find one today =/
Sorry to be a chat hog today... *sits down quietly, hands folded & gives someone else a chance to type a word in edgewise*
Do you think Gwyd was just excited about his sister's birthday yesterday? I know he'll make friends easily, but it's still nerver-wracking for me... some of these kids have been together since pre-school (2-3)
Hello, is neats there?
Good morning all..sorry Liv is fussy....I am fussy, too....owowow......and this puzzle stinks!
yeah jai, it def stinks
Gwyd wasn't around much for the Sprite's b-day... I sent her flowers at school, then we went to the mall to get her ears pierced (mine too!) just us girls. Picked him up at preschool pretty late & found him in time out for hitting.
Sounds like fun! (I mean the girls-time, not the hitting LOL). Did she like the flowers?
Should introduce myself- I am Knutmeg's Mom and lil fussy's Grammie....
yesssssss!!! found one!! KUDOS!! :D
Oh yes, she loved them... 10 daisies in a butterfly basket...
Greetings, jai/Knut's mum!
Morning, Mom. Definitely another puzzle of suckiness >.< Liv is sleeping now, will put her (and me) back down in a few minutes if she stays asleep
*tipetoes quietly so as not to wake the baby*
Congrats, itry!
I can't believe I went to the mall yesterday... got very lost going home in rush hour traffic...
Which mall did you hit? I gotta go out today and pick up my contacts and get munchkin's haircut.
Icky rush hour traffic! But I bet the mall was fun up to that point
good morning all. I am quietly working along collecing all your clues. Lovely sunshine in Michigan. If animals is the theme, I am right on the mark. Dont know about changing icons etc yet.
The Sprite liked, but I am crippled so walking around isn't fun for me... I am inexcruciating pain this morning!!
morning inge :)
It's Shel Silverstein officially, but he doesn't seem to speak to many of us here yet... it's also National Tratan Day if you want a second idea!
We went to Fair Oaks Mall, Jen... in Fairfax... about 12 miles away. Very boring until the last 2 miles, then WHAM!
can anyone helpme with the aa 5/14? talk about failing at the first hurdle.... :(
aa5 - expression of contentment or surprise (past tense)
Oooh... there's an aa?? past tense of sighing noise...
Whoa! You ARE brave going out there! Fairfax is a *itch in rush hour!
well, argh! cat just woke up baby*starts over getting her back to sleep*
Not sure if I was really in Fairfax proper... went down the FFX Co Parkway, then a bit on 29, then Fair Oaks Parkway... Probably will be nothing if I practice a time or tow...
Thanks, Haz & Jera!
Yeah, but that whole area around Fair Oaks is a zoo. I salute you! :)
You're welcome. This grid is a stinker.
The rest of the grid might be a stinker, but at least it doesn't have any re's!!!! woo hoo! :)
Jen - LOL, I thought of you this morning when I noticed there wern't any re's Hi everyone, lovely sunny day here for a change.
Good morning/afternoon, FMitch.
Well. pass the baby to me and I will tell her stories about her Grammie....sure to make her sleep...(((())))<<<<------stra ngling cat.....love you, Knut
Afternoon Haz, did you have a good morning?
I'm back... had to see the Sprite onto the bus... she talked me into letter her take my antique Clans of Scotland book in... hope I don't regret that...
Morning FMitch! :)
Yes thanks - I did my usual stint of tea and coffee making at Riding for the Disabled. I'm struggling with this grid.
P.S. I think marm should be on the list- as in school marm...
me too Haz, struggling that is. Fav words so far are the h8&9, most hated ji4 found only by mokey typing for foever.
I'd like to have a couple of ha8 and 9 sometimes!
LOL yeah!
anyone got a clue for the last mi5/14?
mi 5/15 def is to do wrongly
or to botch
mi 5/14 - start of female spinster form of address, then verb of 'action
Forget ha9... I need a house elf or 2...
Anyone have clues for the whole darn puzzle?
thanks ladies, Ciff love yr icon.
I sent Sprite's teacher a warning about NTD... not sure if he's familiar & the Sprite will try to take over class if he's at a loss...
*dies* , myabe its b/c i havent had the coffee yet =/
its not quite as unmonkeytypeable as yesterdays puzzle which counts for something...
fmitch - the weather in new england is a bit confused. we had several inches of snow at my house. my dog loves the snow. i took this earlier this am.
If you had a pet mouse or 2, wouldn't they be handmice?? *feeling silly now*
cant get any clue, except for the last one with the house elf, and thats only b/c i found it by mistake ..i meant to type something else! lol
No re's... isn't that breaking some kind of Babble rule??
I love that, itry...
Woot! Baby back asleep and in bed. I'll BBL guys, gonna lay back down for a bit, too. Mmm... sleep...
sleeptight knut!
good luck w/that ^.^
Sweet dreams, knut...
mornin babblers!
speaking of breaking Babble rules....ooops, word posting! Anyone have a clue for the sa 6/21, please?
1/2 an hour of babbling passes far too quickly, have to make some phone calls so will be lurking in the background for a while :) morning evan
Mornin evaN
6/21....."ha8" .. what are these things?
ha8/60 = 1st 2 letters of the word, the number of letters in the word and then the total point value. Look at Angelsongs link on the right hand side of the screen for more info.
I have to take a break at no particular landmark... I have a splitting headache & need to get some laundry done... back in a bit... keep the grid warm for me! *poof*
I think I hate this grid even more than yesterday's!
THX FMitch! thx...
ew ew ew horrid J word!
cliffopa, your dog is so beautiful!
Atalante, I'm feeling very niave, I was reading the log this morning and gathered that the ji is a "bad" word but I have never come across it, is it as yuk as the c4 that sometimes crops up?
it's the male contribution to the making of a baby . . .
morning, all. FMitch the Ji word is just tacky, imho. the c word is almost worse.
nope. its another word for - um - er - how to put it? any kids around? *whispers* semen emitted from the body. So, no, its not *bad* bad, not a swear word, just a bit ewww!
thanks Une, delicatly stated :) Just shows you are never too old to learn new words although I don't think I will be using that one in every day convo!!
I think its mainly the province of bad fiction writers who need yet another euphemism to include ...
any clues on the sa 6/21 ?
still not able to find the ma 7 & 8. please help an old man.
ma 7 & 8 -- spanish wine and plural
ma7&8 think of a type of cake or wine? or island in the Med or thereabouts. Dont have the sa6/21 yet.
sa 6/21 sounds like a fish but there's a vowel instead of the consonant in the middle
thanks a lot
thx. I'll work on it.
thanks, arb!
Okay, I'm still not seeing the "nasty" ji4... I feel like I have monkey-typed everything!
Jen: J = belief system
ditto jen, dont see it
oops..should be a +, not an = in that clue, Jen
or the short form of James with an extra letter in the middle
TY Angel! Thought I'd tried that. :)
j-nasty clue:: if you are a mystic, you believe in myticism;.if you are a j, you believe in.....
hi everyone anyone know how many words j words there are?
5
thanx atalante
five j words
-_-..all that work, for something so simple..maybe itry TOO hard..looking so hard i overlook 'em
thank you, jaianniah, for that m-a-r-v-elous clue
hi everyone! : )
pffff admin should be allowed!
oh, it was a real fun clue, i tell you....not!!!!
so stuck on MA 7 & 8. The only spanish wine I can think of starts with r!
ok, so , you told me sa6/8, for ex. is 1st 2 letters, then how many letters of, then the pt value. so, how do you know there are that many letters in sa if you dont know what to look for?
I want to move some letters around in the grid.
that'd be nice angel...*dreams*..id be ultomate bebbler =P~
Ma7 and 8: past tense of an M word for created + a type of retirement fund (then plural for the 8)
It's actually more Portugese than Spanish... also there used to a skit where a guy says "more ma... my dear" (because it sort of rhymed)
past tense for created..got that one, but , retirement fund? hmm...
Oh! Like ports or desert wines! Thanks!
YW! :)
another word for the retirement fund: also a three letter man's name, begins with the third vowel, ends with the first vowel, consontant in the middle. Think Mr. Gershwin.
i am stuck on the co words, can anyone help please.
co4/6 - bulb like
I am not addicted I am not addicted I am not addicted I am not addicted .... Mornin' all!
LOL, Mom...just keep telling yourself that.....
co5 - add Miss Hayworth's name minus t
ec7 anyone?
ec7 = environmental murder im 6-27 anyone?
TY kateq! Wouldn't have thought that would be allowed, considering some of the more common words that aren't.
im6 is the adj form of the im5:A compound derived from ammonia and containing the bivalent NH group combined with a bivalent acid group or two monovalent acid groups
TY Jen!
Jen! I can't get the adj form!
haz1558, Thanks! I would have never known that.
Marc, this is convoluted, but here goes: frosting on a cake is also called this; take the 1st 2 letters and that makes the im word an adj.
You're welcome, scribble.
Jen! Now I feel stupid coz I'm even more lost!
The ending is the same as Eye See or Intensive Care
Marc, take the im5, drop the last vowel. Take the 1st 2 letters of frosting (or alt. those frosen things you put in a drink) and tack them on to the end of the word.
i will repeat my quote from the wee hours since hardly anyone was there to see it: "i thought you said she was dead" "that was her sister, the wicked witch of the east. this is the wicked witch of the west, and she's worse than the other one was."
That did it Jen! Smooches!
Any time Marc! :)
off to Red Cross to donate platelets--later!
no? is this a non-metaphor crowd?
71 words left. I'm off to the gym. TTFN! :)
This part of the crowd is sleep-deprived...thereby rendering it slow and stupid! Morning!
Hi and bye, Jen.
well maybe that is my issue as well, smith!
ok, it must be me. i'm jonah. i've been going list-less and my hubris has angered God. throw me overboard and the storm will abate.
Going listless is a good thing! Don't go overboard!
urf. I keep getting a few more and thinking I must be nearly there. Then look at the number of words left ... and my heart sinks again ...
yeah, i have found 70. this is pathetic.
61 to go. 61 painful drawn out words ...
I'm not lovin' the a's at all. I'd rather have re's than a's.
I've got 69 to go.
think I agree there, smithchick. and re's rather than j's
yesterday we nearly had murder, today I keep wanting morgue
the e's are most inconveniently placed today.
ooooooo there's a pretty J6
*jealous*
no, that's a J7 :P
Is it jo6/36? I'm list-less too and I'm missing one j.
oh, you can spell that with no e? ok.
plllt, atalante :)
apparently you can!
i think she meant ja6
ja6/36
ja6/36
lol got the message yet, smithchick. its a ja6/36 - in case you hadnt noticed!
Oh, there are two j6/36's. One ja and one jo... Good to know. I'll start searching for that ja6.
thanks to you guys, now i am only missing one j! and it's not a 6 i guess!
Hello. The jo6/36 sounds like comedienne Ms. Brand driving her car through a shop window.:)
GOT it!
So this ja6 can be spelled with or without an e?
yes smith - i saw it ages ago but didn't think it would work without an e at the end
Hi, Jacula!
Got it! Thanks, all! Makes me think of fragrant rice.
DONE...anyone need a clue??
:)
Well, people are always telling me to get a clue, so I guess I must need one! :)
Congrats, OU!!!!!!!!!!!
oh yes, congrats!
people keep telling me to get a LIFE...
LOL, OU!! I just finally saw the dancing california fruit. DUH!
smithchick...well, being from AR...that makes sense...LOL
missing an am5/14, I
Yeah, we don't have those here, ours only sing. They don't dance.
angel...change the final letter of the one you do have
missing an am5/14. I think it's after the a +computer accessories.
we cant expect much from people from AR...after all, you elected Bill Clinton
Hey, that wasn't me!!! Ewww... People tell me I look like Monica Lewinski a lot and I just cringe. Bleck...
let's not get personal/political
See, I can't read your profile and see where you are from so I must ask. Where are you from?
LOL smithchick
guy from the great state of Pennsylvania
I need to be able to think up an appropriate geographical/regional slam.
Oh, I've been reading a bunch of Lisa Scottoline books that are set in Philly. Sounds like an interesting place.
However, I'm fresh out of Pennsylvania slander.
did you know the toothbrush was invented in Pennsylvania...anywhere else it would have been called the teethbrush...LOL
*whispers to smith...* think pretzels...
I spent a weelk there [Philly] one day
Too funny... There are people in my house (little people) who just have a passing acquaintance with that invention. As their dentist will attest.
Cute baby, Shadow! Eastern, I'm still clueless. Maybe it's the sleep deprivation, and maybe it's just ignorance.
Hello again. I'm over the mountain w/my little sicko grandbaby. I'll be in and out w/out much fanfare. Hey easternblue, nice icon!
gramma - an excellent choice!!
Hi, gramma... Hope the grandbaby feels better soon.
I almost picked that one too!
TY I'm sure she will.
Have I mentioned that I despise the a's?
Morning all -- can only babble for a few minutes this morning before I have to go to work :( On the other hand, I really love my job, so I guess it evens out. Happy Shel Silverstein day!
Hey OU, what are the eigts? I've got two...ha and ma.
Hey, ch1212!
There's also in 8/50
smithchick, do you want to share and give us some clues for those? please?
TY, Haz!
clue on the ec?
smithchick, I actually have the ma.
ec - Murder of the environment
Shadowhyrst, kill the enviroment.
shadowhyrst, an earlier clue said "think earth murder" .... I would add, pesti****
ha8/60 - two words combine to make a female servant, plural for the 9
Haz, tyvm.
The ha and it's plural- compound word. ha4/6 + ma4/6. Brings to mind servants of nobility.
Haz1558; muchoa danka
I'm a little slow today.
ty, 2, gramma
another ha clue is the book/movie "The Ha******'* Tale"
Glad to help.
still missing the second am5/14....help?
Try using a different vowel on the end (am5/14)
If you have the am4/6 (in the center of), you add a vowel to it and add the plural to it.
Angel, is it the one after a + rodent? Change the last vowel to the third vowel.
i forgot to update my icon before! refresh.
AM5/14 a central spot
Very nice, hurshy! Hello, bunny!
BBL
it's unfortunately hard to read...
Hello, I've been lurking. These a's are killing me!
smith gramma hushy bunny, any i missed....hello
What does it say, hurshy?
hi nut, hi bunny. everything is killing me.
Hey, evano!
yeah, c's are pretty tough
Bye gramma... I'm trying to wean myself off exclamation points again.
I haven't gotten either of the second row c's. I need one more on top.
it says "sarah cynthia sylvia stout would not take the garbage out" and that's a big pile of garbage on the left
i much prefer, " there's a polar bear in the frigidair, he likes it cause its cold in there."
Sarah must be related to my children! Actually, my son did take the garbage out this morning.
!! Lol hurshy. Okay all -- I must off to work -- BBL
i always liked "it's hot"
See ya, Ch...
its hot? i'm hot! ha
WHat is the theme today? I haven't been keeping up with them. I barely have time to sneak in here and work the grid...
bunny, shel silverstein
Shel Silverstein
shel silverstein
I still remember this from 2nd grade: If you ever, ever, ever, ever, ever If you ever, ever, ever meet a whale. You must never, ever, ever, ever, ever You must never, ever, ever touch it's tail For if you ever, ever, ever, ever, ever If you ever, ever, ever touch it's tail You may never, ever, ever, ever, ever You may never ever see another whale. The pix for it is a person inside the whale...8 )
Guess I'm not very worldly...children's author?
popping in while things are slow at work. anyone have a clue for the in 7/36 or in 8/50?
the very one that made me love to read.
it's hard to get things from the 2nd row c that couldn't come from the 1st row c...
sorry cliff, just started
Hi, cliffopa... Can't help you, I'm afraid. Beautiful poochie....(I would exclaim, but I'm trying to quit).
me hoping someone can answer cliffopa so that we can all get these lovely words. but now that i know they exist, maybe i will see them!
why aren't you exclaiming
Why are you qutting? I'm guilty of over use as well!!!!!!!!!!!
i'm working backwards on the words today. thought it might help. i was wrong.
alright...I have 0 words entered & before I'm tempted & neglect work...I bid you adieu!! ((HUGS)) Catch you later!!
in7/36 take the in5/12 minus the final vowel and add the initials of the government agency known for spying
bye auntie!
plural for the 8
Hi all - just poppin in as I am supposed to be typing up the results of our Guiding Fun Day last Saturday! It was a great success and we had 139 children there, far more than last year, so I'm very pleased. Bunny- ti keep up with the themes I found Babblers profile and added it to my favourites, its always to hand then. BTW this is a horrible grid!
mac to the rescue!
Hello macuser and snowy...
Hi smith :)
Hi hurshy... how are you?
ty macuser!
Snowy, sounds like fun, glad it went well!!
i'm fine, thank you mac :) seeing you has just reminded me to go take my pill - brb
Hi macuser!
Sorry, phone call. I overuse them drastically. I was reading the log earlier, and no one else was exclaiming and I felt ashamed.
Hehe, EB used a word!!
You're welcome, cliff :) and LOL @ hurshy
The theme is so funny today- I was taking my son to school and it is pouring rain here- And I told him I had a funny poem for him. lazy lazy lazy Jane She wants a drink of water so she waits and waits and waits and waits and waits for it to rain. And I get here and what do I see? :) I'm off to check out the stats-
well mac it is only bc you reminded me on saturday :)
hey everyone... glad to see some more theme icons... I like to participate but the only one I could think of was smithchick's... Plus it's National Tartan Day!
It was really good fun -we had 8 activities based around festivals so we had lots of craft & games & dancing. The children seemed to enjoy it anyway. It was a very wide age gap ages 5-15
Hmmm... how many foreign good-bye are there in the grid today??
Hi snowy :)
I'm always looking for thigs to take the kids too, it's such a small town, we usually have to opt for the park. Wish we had more activities like that here. Just aroung Halloween and Christmas.
oh, hey, i passed the halfway mark without even noticing!
Hi kimberblue & Jera smithchick I am an unashamed exclaimer - Welsh accents make your voice lift at the end of a sentence -we are always exclaiming or asking questions!
Jera - there are 2, 1 French and 1 Spanish!!
let's all start exclaiming so smithchick doesn't feel ashamed anymore!!!!!!!! what a terrible grid this is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey, Angel changed her page again. I like it.
Plus yesterday was Italian... good old enable dictionary...
oh, exclaiming!!!!! how exciting!!!!!!
Well as I know you have absolutely loads of spare time bunny perhaps you should start a group! LOL Seriously do you have Girl Scouts or their younger equivalents near you?
*Doesn't exclaim much... prefers dot dot dots...
use both .....!!!
i need 21 MORE A's?!?!?!
LOL, Hurshy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!! I like dots too...
I am not doing well today... crippling headaches slow me down...
Hurshy is shaking it up with some question marks thrown in too!
oh, jera, i'm so sorry. migraines? do you have a prescription to help?
The problem I have with paying for them to join in group activities is that I have four girls and the boy. The price is pretty hefty to let them all join a club!
hi everyone! : )
I'm sorry you feel bad, Jera. Still recovering from the mall?
hi to
Hi TO
Hey bunny - you should set up yr own club and get other children to join and then they would have to pay you!!!
!!!
Hi temple :)
Hey, TO!
going for a walk, try to work out this leg cramp
Good idea, we can call it "let's keep Brandy's house clean club"!
I'm very tired plus congested from allergies, which make my shunt not drain well... similar to migraine, but not much to do chemically without going narcotic... I don't feel comfortable doing that in charge of a littlie alone.
Figure I'll just have four more kids and start a baseball team...
(((((((((((JERA)))))))))))))
I've promised myself a break once I find 100 words - 2 to go...
LOL, Bunny! I don't know if entertaining them is worth all that!
bye, nut!
see ya, evanonut...
Thanks, hurshy... that helps!
Was just going to say the same thing Fmitch! You could also ask if there would be a reduction for a job lot! This fun day we did ' send one - get one half price'
...1 to go.
any help with the aa 5?
oh, bunny, that reminds me of a joke, which i think might be a true story. one season notre dame was doing very badly. after a bad loss, as the fans were leaving the stadium, a voice came over the PA system saying, "would the woman who left 11 small children on the field please come collect them? they're beating notre dame 21-0."
past tense sigh, leigh
You will have breathed a sigh or relief when you find it.
Leigh - the 'aa' - 'The ladies ooh** and aa*** over the new baby'.
Hi TO - bye Evanonut
I have far too much fun here chatting! I am turning into the worlds finest excuse maker! See you all later hope.
Bye Eva
ty jac. thought i tried that.
Bye snowy...
100! Break time. BBL. x
Bye, snowy!
Any brilliant o clues? I've only got two of the little buggers. or4 and os4
This grid was AWFUL!!
Bye Snowy
Was? Are you done, bunny?
was ..was ! does that mean you have finished bunny???
oi 5/12 - add first part of 'journal'
os 5/14 - os + rodent minus "e"
mi - 6 - 24 , please help.
Yeah, but I had a restless night, puttered around in the a.m....
Bless you haz and bunny!!
os5/14 - usually preceded by c to refer to heavenly goings on
YAY, bunny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
mi 6/24 - abbreviation for center + what you breathe
mi6/24 - one of these collisions would be fatal for two planes
WTG!!!!!!!!!!
thanks
yay haz and bunny, this is great!!! all my o's just like that!
45 to go. this is torture
...and there aren't very many big ones either! I completely agree!
the c in the second row is for ce's.
plural the ce 4/6
TY, Angel!!! I still don't have either one.
ce 4/6 - ce + you roll **ce at the table
...and then plural
Yay! Got those...Only need one more c and a billion a's, s's, etc.
finished the a's! all 50 trajillion of 'em.
so 8/55 - starts with the so 4/5 (carbonated beverage) + abb for center + 2nd vowel Took me forever to get that one!!!!
Wooho, Way to go, angel. I need 8 more a's.
That would have taken me forever too, bunny. Thanks!
anyone have the ec/7? please
ec 7 - death to environment
Killing the environment is the clue that I've seen for that.
got it- thanks- I would have never thought of that!
Taking a bit of a break to tend to some business... laters :)
Bye Mac
Bye, mac.
de - 5 - 16 ?. it's another I know will staring me in the face, but.
afternoon everyone
first da6? and is the 7 following a plural?
de 5/16 - another word for 2
da 6/24 - def. A feudal lord of Japan who was a large landowner...or... da + You *** for the center of the target + 3rd and 2nd vowel, then plural
well, walking sorted that cramp right out!
Hi sha
if you are playing poker and your hole cards are 2's, you have pocket de.....
HI sha and praes...glad to hear the cramp is gone, evanonut
the poker did the trick, thanks a lot
Praes, your an ace
thanks smith!!!!! wish you would have sounded excited!!!!!!
ROFL, nut!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!
smith, you gotta go back to using the !!!!!, it's just not the same!!!!! :)
yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, I was going to go take a break but with all of these fabulous d clues, I guess I'd better stick around!
Well, if you insist!!!!!!!
yeah, keep the clues coming! i need a couple more 7's and a lot more A's and and and...
da7?
Why isn't that t next to that s?
Angel, did you get the six? Plural for 7.
I don't have the right da6 yet...
Hello all.. i've been lurking dis morning. Switching back and forth from here and work. BTW icon them?
shel silverstein
shel silverstein... I did have it properly capitalized, but nobody else did so I figured I wasn't supposed to.
d plus Artificial Insemination plus spanish 'my' and plural for the 7
di 7 - starts like and expensive gem, ****ond, the add the to kill ending from the ec di 6/24 - spell just like the one above it with the exception of the last letter di 7/36 - plural 6/24
I got the da/6 finally it is the 3rd and 4th vowels though if you are using the clues
Well shart, sorry. My brain is in slow mo today...
who shel ?
bunny, this is great - but i don't have the one "above it", i think :)
got em- thanks bunny :)
The "one above it" is the first di 7.
praes, popular childrens poet
any clues for the oi?
Or do expensive gem, di**ond + opp of out, then plural for the 6&7 combo.
a poet? cool... Gotta love 'em
oh i get it now! i thought you meant just cut off the e, and that didn't work
the one above is the first di/7 for the second di/7 change the last letter
ok - i have the di 6 & its plura; 7/36.., but am coming up blank for the one with the killing ending....help please?
yay, that's all the 7's for me!
wait, my clue didnt work
oi 5/12 - def. A thin-walled spore produced by fragmentation in certain filamentous fungi...oi + the first three letters of that gem
oi + day in spanish
actually it did- I am done talking till I finish my cofee
ty for the oi clues--got it!
LOL
TO, if you have the 6, take off the last letter and rhyme it with "hi** and seek"
Love to stay and confuse everyone some more, but, house needs a scrubbin'.
Bye bunny!!!! Thanks for all the clues!!!!!!!!
how many in's are there?
Bye, see ya tomorrow!!!!!!!
4
I've got 23 more. I think I'm going to break out the list after I find three more. There are too darn many am's and im's.
bye, bunny!
smith, i bow to your greatness. i have 54 to go and if i can get to 20 without the list it will be a miracle.
last da5/12 and 6/21?
smith - the am's are a nightmare am working on them now. I have hit the list and the finish line is in sight.
da5/12 - Mr Quayle followed by two vowels, and then a plural
It makes me think of Hawaii Five O... Book em' **** Add an extra vowel in there before the round one.
I lied. I'm getting the list now. I can't find three more words.
any simple clues for di 7/40? I'm about to have to sign in for work....not much time.
di7/40 - first four letters as in precious stone, last three letters, similar to poetry form but change the first vowel from o.
*whimper whimper*
* presses glass of whisky into hurshy's hand *, here, this always helps me.
i need my head LESS fuzzy, not more, nut! :)
LOL! Does anyone have a clue for the sa6? I didn't get the fish one from the log.
* winks * - it's magic whisky
ok, i'll try it, but if i get a beanstalk growing out of me i'm blaming you!
sa 6 - add an anagram of mini
Okay, I just monkeyed it. Never mind.
no bean stalks
well i needed it too apparently so thanks haz!
morning/afternoon/evening all! just got logged in.
Haz are you done? Can I have a clue for the last an6/21 please.
second di6/24?
If you value your sanity, Stidmama, you'll log off again.
sanity? definition, please!
phsssss...only if your anal about finishing
hi stidmama, it's as awful as yesterday, if not more so
lol! haz, smith- saw that clue and i kept looking for a variant of "sardine"
Yes, I've done - the last an6 relates to the an4/4 (add the almost frozen water)
LOL. Stid - step away from the grid. You have been warned :))
((Stidmama)) how's your day?
I was going for salmon...
oh dear, but I started at the flip and already have 22 words. I'm stuck now, unless I want to mess up my average (which is not perfect, but ...) :-)
then u got it right!!!
Hey stid... Congrats, Haz!!!!!!!!!!
Your sanity is more important.
this is great, with clues and monkeying i now have only 8 A's to go (besides all these other words...)
Hello, everyone!!!!!!!
Thank you - of course you realise that I used the list so all my clues are contaminated for the listless people.
so far, my day is going well, but i only just got out of bed! one dog already has a scrape under its eye, and the teenager had allowed himself to run out of clothes -- which he didn't tell us until five minutes before he needed to leave for school! so -- so far, so good!
Well, I'm no longer among the listless.
ciao, movieman!
YAY Haz!
it's ok haz, our listlessness has been demoralized by these 2, we don't care how we get the words anymore
Hey movieman... Long time no see!
Hello movieman. Note the lack of exclamation marks. I'm too tired to be enthusiastic.
%@%"+%"+ Fireworks for Haz %"+%"+%@%
second di6/24?
hi movieman!
yay haz! *tosses confetti*
I really cannot believe that there's so many words beginning with vowels in today's grid (56 by my count)...... *SIGH*
di6/24 - either charm or take gun away
Haz, now don't you start an !!!!! embargo!!!!!
i still have 43 to go... but on the bright side, only 4 of them are 6's
No, don't worry, I don't mind others showering them about. Although I have to say that my realisation that Enid Blyton used far too many !!!! was the day I started to grow up...
ji4/10 please?
how about a letter list for the 9 and the 8's?
ha8 ha9 in8 ma8 so8
Phew, thanks for the last clue Haz. Glad to say I am done. One of the harder grids for quite a long time.
thanks ! : )
ji 4/10 - j*** is to j as organ is to organ***.
WooHoo, FMitch!!!!!!!!!!!!
yay fmitch! *streamers are thrown*
YAY FMitch!
yipee! lunchbreak! only 50 to go!
Congratulations, FMItch! (See, I use them sparingly)
i need one more n - i have low point, and two 4's with two of the same vowel in each of them. what else?
LOL thanks all. Can go into clue mode now rather than hitting head against wall looking for totally hidden word mode.
hi cliffopa! I've got almost 30... :-) looking like a long day!
Howsabout some cluez and/or definitions for the 8s & the 9.....
nvm - ANOTHER with 2 the same vowel, wowee
in7 and in 8?
the ha8 and 9 are real - compound - you'll enjoy finding them :)
Three of the n 4s have the same vowels in them. Have you got the ni (Latin, unless)
hi stidmama :) i started around 6 this am and got 2 hrs worth of searching in. i have plans tonite so am trying to finish this afternoon.
wow, suddenly up to 37! keep the cluse coming!
cliff - were you up at 6 on purpose?
in 7/36 puts ca into a continent. in 8 is the plural
ev - hubby gets up at 5, i couldn't fall back asleep after he got up. (he's veerrrryyy noisy)
LOL, nut!
Hursh - can't you give a better clue than that for the ha8 & 9.....
6 am is almost indecent... especially during allergy season. my eyes won't even unswell until I get my morning antihistamine in me!
Correction ci into a continent
haz means ci, not ca
oh the advantages of hubbies on disability - they don't rise before you!
Its a country not a continent
when mary was told she would be impregnated by the holy spirit, she said, "behold, i am the ha8 of the Lord, let it be to me as you have spoken"
stid, on a workday, i'm up at 4:30
Hi all...can you keep the noise down please,Im suffering after celebrating my wedding anniversary last night !!!!!!!!!
actually my husband is on disability. he is recovering from 3 surgeries in past 6 mo's and 48 radiation treatments. he is just a psycho about getting up early, even if he is just going out to get coffee.
Country, not a continent - I told you I was tired.
h8 = h4 /6+ m4/6
Thanx, hursh.....
yes, but -- part of your name *is* nut! actually, i would be a morning person if my darling Tom were -- but I stay up late with him and then spend most of the morning groggy...
is there an io?
caitlyn -- how long married? can we celebrate too if we're quiet?
Io6/24 don't know what it is though
cliff, all the agony and none of the advantage - i'm sorry to hear that. hubbynut swears he gets up after i leave, but i don't believe him.
Haz, I got the in's thanx!
Hello caitlyn and tigereye!
io6/24 - sounds like a religion worshipping vowels
ty tigereye, that greyed that box for me!
Stid 37 years !! I have some champagne for any takers !!
i never thought i'd say this, but i'm my hubby still wakes up. almost lost him but now has good prognosis for long life.
Morning, All. Whats the word count today?
168 horrible words
168
congrats cliff on the prognosis - i'm still waiting for them to give us that one!
thanks for reminding us to count our blessings, cliffopa :)
Amen to that
haz - LOL - got it!
congratulations caitlyn! let's see - 37 years ago, my brother had just turned 1... so I was almost three... I think we had just moved to Washington state for the first time!
Thanks for the continent/country clue. What does it mean when you speak of grey boxes getting filled in?
down to only 37 words to go. time for work...thanks for the help, everyone.
37 years ago, my dad was about to start high school
Thanks stid(now i feel old )LOL
inge, you got your little girl
cliffopa, I am so glad he wakes you up!
37 years ago i was -19
later angelsong!
37 years ago my parents weren't even dating
Inge - you have paid for pro status, where it says My Words, just to the right of the top of the grid, in blue it says filp to stats - click on that.......
You rotten lot !!!! I was a child bride !LOL
Yes I finally got her. You were right, I should check the post profile box, but i missed the last instruction to update.
Stidmama...you still working on the css for the resource page?
Bye, angelsong!
actually, 37 years doesn't seem like such a long time to me -- my family is long-lived, and my mother's parents almost made it to 60 years married... still -- it's twice as many years as i've been married!
well, okay, i dunno, they could have dated, but they were too young for hanky pnaky
Wow! Had I known of that stats page I would have joined earlier!!!!
Angelsong, I had to take a break, but when I hit 50 words on the grid, I was going to try again.
37 years ago I was 12 and my boyfriend was just newborn.
jac - you cradle robber!
Anybody ---- help. AM - 6 - 27 PLEASE.
or (in my case) the other way around, I was 9 and my boyfriend was 28.
Jacula if you read my profile you will see i wasnt much older than that
Any clues for ah6?
ah - begins and ends with the same letter. In between a homonym of hymns
ah6=a + oppersit of hers + 1st vowel
Caitlyn - congrats! Had my marriage lasted it would have been 29 years last month. Nut - I haven't been near any cradle. LOL. He's 37 now.
Thanks jacula
now I'm curious, too: am 6/27?
AM 6 27 ?
also need am7/27?
am 6 - to am4/6 add almost frozen water
Thanks, haz and lshult! Never ever would have gotten that even with the list.
Glad to help.
Two d5's left.
well, that's 50 words for me, off to battle css again... :-)
Haz - thanks for the ah6. That's a new word to me.
see ya later stid
Bye stid
It's bizarre looking, isn't it?
Since we are doing am's, how about the second am 5/14?
got am 6 from your clue hazel. tar a lot
Bye stid!
The seconbd am5/14 differs only in the last vowel from the first.
Older comedic actor Don Am**** only spelled differently. A different vowel ending from the one right before it.
Howdy everyone!
you are firing those cluse out thick and fast this afternoon Haz. WTG
Hi Deutsch
Deutsch - hello! You always sound so cheerful.
Hey, Deutsch... I have 0 words left to find. I'm now breathing a huge sigh of relief and doneness!
Hi Deutsch.:)
Well done smithchick!!!
Haz, as usual your assistance was invaluable!
Thanks, caitlyn!
thanks, Haz! Smith, I'm almost finished I have one... found. LOL. I'm just getting started
*~*~*~*~FIREWORKS FOR SMITHCHICK*~*~*~*~*
I'm glad I was able to help, smithchick. Even though I used the list.....
haz - doesn't make your help any less valuable or praiseworthy
Time to go, maybe check back later!
'nut, are you playing hooky from work today?
I'm up to 131 words, listless (except for gratefully accepting Haz's clues).
See you Haz, have a good evening :)
Bye Haz
I use the list most of the time, but I like to try it without it first. Thanks again, haz!
'Bye, Haz. Thanks for the help.
chic - no - i get to work from home on thursdays, and all evenings, and weekends. in fact, anytime you see me, i'm working (isn't that shameful?)

Hi, mamabear!
Hi mamabear
Hi Mama!
mama - that pick is from my favorite poem ever... - there's a polar bear in the frigidaire - he likes it cause it's cold in there - with his seat in the meat and his face in the fish

Temple - Those teeth are scary!
Hi Temple

Hey everyone, check out Pirate & Alien in friends of babble. It's my friend's husband's comic strip.
pirate and alien - eez cute

Oh my GOSH wassup...Pirate and Alien is my sister's husband's comic strip! Could this be a coincidence? I think not.

Wombat...hmmm
I thought I might find you if I pimped Ty's strip! :)

Addict! Your babble name is as cheesy as mine.
wombat..are you an aussie?
wombat. get back to work. I have to go shower and take the boy to school. I'm sure i'll see you here later. i'm totally addicted
And now the entire babble world knows that you're dirty. Nice.
yeah, and they know you're at work! Ha!
i've just been told that this isn't hubbynut's restaurant, and that if i don't want what he makes, i'm s.o.l. - hmph
Really, i'm leaving. Good day to you all.
Bye wassup
Has TSM been on ? I was wondering how she is
Hi everyone! How many words today, please?
168 very irksome words
168 words today
nut - I have a cute plaque that says : Today's Menu 2 Choices Take it Leave it
hmpp, i'm back here slaving away, i don't even get an alternative.
slaving away at babble you mean?
hurshy, fyi, i'm working very hard, being one of many lines of defense against evil - i should be catered to...;-)
defense against evil??? what exactly are you doing, nut?
Merk- I just found the ha/8/9
Ok. In what univese is ramada not a word?
defending the world against evil, kind of like a superhero, only i'm ALWAYS a mild mannered nut.
ha 4/6 + ma 4/6 then plural
the non-proper-noun universe nut - you playing a video game?
kelly, hadn't you noticed that when you play Babble you enter another dimension into an alternate universe?
LOL - no hursh, but if you wanna work for the dod, you have to get past me first.
evening everyone can anyone please give me the clues for the 1st and 2nd am 5/14 i have one but cant work out the other
yes - i have noticed that LOL!
Um. A ramada is something that shades you from the sun, not just a hotel chain. And if dais can be on the list, why not ramada? Just askin...
kelly - watch now, no word postings
Yeah, sorry about that! My righteous indignation got the best of me.
i have ja4/10 ja4/36 ji4/10 what am i missing please?
oh my, well luckily i don't want to work for the DOD, bc you know me too well already :)
sorry kelly -dont' know why not ramada then :)
te he he - we have a file on you, didn't you know?
Oooh, I want the ja4/36!
my guess is that ramada isn't included because it's primarily a regional expression.
:S what's in this file, nut??? :S
Hi everyone -- once again I am just passing by -- break is over in 5 mins :) Just wanted to let folks know that Sebastian is almost sleeping through the night. He went to sleep last night and slept through till 5 AM.... aaaannndd he didn't soak through his diaper either! :D
oops - that's 6....
that's great, GW!
Am I dense here? I can't find my last ad 4/5
gee woulf - i know people with three year olds who don't sleep through the night...
sounds like heaven gw
My 5 yo does not sleep thru the nite I think it's a myth!
bookgrrl -- actually it isn't in the list because the Enable dictionary is not one of the best compiled dictionaries out there! It has its fair share of obscure regional words and expressions in it :D
Temple -- I have been incredibly lucky on that score -- Kristianna was sleeping through the night by six months also :)
evan -- on so many levels, it is heaven
thanks, grey woulf...
And now I have to go back to work -- I will be back later tonight to finish -- only 144 left to find!! Toodles and (*Hugs*) to all :)
merk: i have two ad4/5... good bye and opposite of exit...how many ad words are there?
So Grey W. does that mean we skip it?
Five ad words, three with five letters and two with four. I guess I have my two now.
merk -did you see the 9 word clue I gave you?
I'm missing a ad/ 5/12 word. Yes the nine letter word ... compound word. Ha ... that was the one that smacked me right across the face it was so obvious.
Im going now catch you tomorrow happy babbling all bye
Do you have both French and Spanish good-byes?
ad 5/12 is goodbye in Spanish
Yes, I do. But there is supposed to be a third ad.
bye, caitlyn!
Then it's the other ad 5/14 I'm missing.
There is one ad 5/12 and three ad 5/14 words
How about the past tense of what one says when the doctor looks in your throat
aa 5/14?
Oh I used the doctor throat word for aa.
hey all!! how meny words today?
it would not work for ah.
ARB thats a good clue for the aa not ad the last ad5 is ad + a male person.
Sorry - yes that is aa. Your missing ad 5/14 is probably the guy who works on Madison Avenue
aa 5/14 is the doctor throat word I tried it for ah 5/14 ... no can do.
Oh, yes he is. Those tricky corner turns throw me everytime. Thanks.
so there is an ah word?
ah6 TO
Hi TO yes there is its an ah6/24
I don't see him- the ad/5 guy
Start in the bottom row
168 words today hardcore and most of them are very buried in the grid.
thanks FMitch it looks fun
Can anyone help me on the ji one?
thanks- found it!
ji = slang sex word for male orgasm
Ji 4/10 I you believe in Buddha the religion is Buddh-ism and if you believe in J the religion is j-...
if you believe in J ... like all males do ...
Help! I am missing the first am5/14... I have the a+rodent
Thanx everyone, finally got it.
I upgraded to the Pro level, but only see how many words are formed from each letter. Where are you folks getting the ja4/36 type of information?
pbr - pl. of 4/5 above
broll -- isn't that the am5/12?
Biggles - if you look under friends of babble and then go to Anglesongs resource pages or to licketys clues you will find the 2nd letter listings.
sorry - change the last vowel of rodent one
thank you

yup
oh? you want another one? :P a + opposite of hers + starting letter
what time, or what was it?
ty :P
ah6/24 - Hindu doctrine of nonviolence
I am missing two am 5/14 words. The ones above the French word for friends, I think.
5 am- words in a row start with the same 4 letters
a hint on the 9/78
Vicuna, well that is where I am stuck then. I have only three that start with the same four letters. I'm missing two of them.
So try adding letters to the end of those 4!
can anyone please give me a clue for the di 6/24
DI 6 take weapon away
ty mig
can someone tell me how long the 2 words are from the lower C please?
they are ce 4&5 (pl) I think Atalante
hint for co 5/12, please?
hc: plural of ha8 - scroll back
good morning all -- didn't get very far last night, so I have a lot of words to find!
Vicuna, I tried your suggestion and nothing works. Do I have the right four starting letter. Is the fourth letter the fourth letter of the alphabet?
thx FMItch!
Surely "AMNIO" & "AMNIOS" are words? (apparently not in BabbleLand)
That's right, Merk. If it's the two 5/14's you're missing, one is a pl of the am4/6 that starts this chain. The other has no definition, but you've got 26 chances to get the right letter to stick on the end! (Fewer, if you use only letters that are actually int he grid and have a 1 point value! :))
rey100 i tried AMNIO to but it didn't work for me
ai 6/24?
ai6/24 - gent who helps?
gahhh...whoever he is, he isn't helping me at all. Not seeing it.
soni - think of it as 2 x 3 letter words and add them together.
ai6 - made up up teo 3-letter words, first the root of the ai4/6's before and after, second an adult male
(ai4/5's, I mean)
Ooh, something wonky happened there. "Made up of two 3-letter words..."
ahhh...thanks. that's a word, and miso isn't? I'm not buying it. :-D
mi4/5 IS a word. Try typing it again!
sonic: i think you need to refresh and try again
must have been a glitch. didn't take it the first time. thanx
All these hints are more obscure than the puzzle itself!!!!!!!!!
hi everyone!`
hi bex
hi bex!
hi bex!
ma 8 clue, please?
Hello from Kentucky everybody! I haven't been on for weeks and came back for a tough one today. I just finished though, so does anyone need clues? I've got a few minutes
ma 7 & 8 are a type of sherry (& plural)
hello sha
Temple, for the sherry... it's the lst ma 4/6 plus abbreviation for individual retirement account...
ty ! : )
Darn, work calls suddenly... I'll be back a little later to help, I promise. YW Temple!
Finished! Sneaked in quietly - not supposed to be here... Back on Monday
can elephants sneak quietly?
"Have some ma 6, m'dear?" --- why isn't it valid?
we know nut can!
Good afternoon/evening. Grid seems difficult, but I'm only in the Cs.
of course nuts can, we're small.
hi mab! need a break - BBL!
I was spelling it wrong -- that's why! --- actually ma 7 & 8!
Oh, funny. nut, my icon is the Hebew edition of yours, and they flopped the picture. I guess if you're going to read from right to left....
Once upon a time, The Limelighters were my favourite group.
never occurred mab, but does it still rhyme in hebrew?
I don't know. Haven't read it in Hebrew, but I would imagine it has been made to rhyme.
you should read it in hebrew mab - maybe it's even better.
I could read it and be able to tell if it rhymes, but I would not understand very much of it. Like Italian - easy to read, not so easy to know.
my knowledge of other languages is based primarily in insults.
quick break from work: ma5/22?
Through your use, or directed against you?
vic - i'm going to plead the fifth on that one
he he he, vicuna!
ma5/22 - area of study or military rank
ma 5/22 can be a ma*** pain.
angel- ma 5/22- the opposite of minor
...or just some guy in the army
ma 5/22: rank in the army
Am6/27 anyone? Thanks in advance.
found a wonderful translation site once, just type in what you want to say and voila - translates it to the language of your choice. wish i'd found that back in my school days.
am 6/27?
I'm just picturing evanonut strolling through the piazza, climbing the Eiffel tower, walking the Great Wall of China... and people hurling abuse at her wherever she goes, as she scribbles down everything they say in a notebook...
I had something new (to me). I typed in a 'da' 5 word that was accepted, but I received no points credit for it.
Everybody sing now, "Refresh, refresh, refresh!"
i like that vision vic - am i doing anything to deserve the verbal abuse though?
Merk -- type it in again -- if that doesn't work, refresh
thats me finished
YAY ruthy!
ty stidmama
No, eva, I like to think you're just walking along innocently and for some reason everyone just insults you wherever you go.
am5/27: any organic compound containing the group -CONH2
well, i suppose it is rather accurate actually.
There it is, after I refreshed. I wish my brain refreshed that easily. I'm still stuck on some words.
am6/27 - try making the 5/14 into an adj
I mean 14, then expand.
who knew there could be so many am words in a puzzle. they are my re's for today!
I am still missing the two 'am' words 5/14 s
Oh, poor evanonut! One of those many things that would be hilarious in a movie, but awful in real life!
Worked for me.Thanks Vicuna.
happy shel day!
LOL vic, okay, i'm not CONSTANTLY insulted i suppose, more like frequently.
I must not have the am5/14 that 6 builds on. Looking...
boreetos: thanks for suggesting this day! i found the adult shel stuff - the zoo is hilarius! - look- i'm a sneet!
it's hilarious, too!
:) i do what i can. Yeah the adult shel stuff is pretty cool, just different. My fav is still his Hamlet as told on the street.
Soni- they differ by only one letter- 2nd and 3rd consonants.
morning....just getting started and hoping to complete another grid for three days in a row. wishful and optimistic I am!
hey bbnaz.
wow i found a "dried grape"
but u can't add a c to it
where was it? :)
you know i trust you TO, but I tried anyway. :)
just when I think I have seen it all, DrG springs a new depth on me..........hardyharhar
okay, work is done. going to spend some lovely quality time with the hubbynut and come hunt more words later. tata peoples.
ttfn evananut!
ciao bella.
hey mab i didn't know you were here.
bye bye, nut!
got'm...thnx
howdy boreetos dude.
howdy, happy Shel day!
I've not read him, but I shall.
its all pretty awesome.
Which is your favorite?
There's three main books: Where the Sidewalk Ends Light in the Attic Falling Up I think the first is my favorite, but I've had and loved it since I was a kid, so it's special, Falling Up came out in like 96 or so, so it's much more recent, and might I add still amazing.
any help on the two NA words? I haven't a clue, but I need one. :)
na 4: I have "nothing" to say to you in Spanish... na 5: when you reach your" lowest point," you are there.
na4/5 - Spanish for nothing na5/12 - lowest point
thanks kids, great clues!
si5/10 please?
the first an 5/12 (I'm assuming the six is plural)
si5/10 - Ravi Shankar plays one
Well hello kids.
hi Hollybug!
an5/12 - change the final vowel on the other an5/12
t'is hollybug! hello hollybug.
thanks!
I have only 100 words left to find, but laundry to fold... later, all! (hi HollyBug)
I've been so busy lately, I've not gotten to play at all this week.
Hollybug, that's tragic!
We've been caught by a Quick-Digesting Sneet, And now we are dodging his molars, And now we are restin' In his lower intestine, And now we're back out on the street... YAY! DONE!
Oh I know... but alas. Real life beckoned.
I gotta go kids, but i'll be back in few. In the meantime I leave you all with Shel's delightful version of Cinderella: "From dusk to dawn, From town to town, Without a single clue I seek the tender, slender foot To fit this crystal shoe. From dusk to dawn, I try it on Each damsel that I meet And I still love her so, but oh, I've started hating feet." -Shel Silverstein
anyone have the ha 5/12?
Hrmm I want a baby seal.
bye boreetos - and bye everyone! happy babbling!
ha5/12 - a league, think of your German maritime history, or just start with Harrison Ford in Star Wars and replace his -olo with a different vowel
Need a new coat, eh, HollyBug? (just kidding)
ty vicuna. love star wars references.
And the grow up to be big blubbery things that are not very friendly.
thats me finished : )
You'd spend a fortune on fish and air conditioning, hollybug.
Yay, sha!
Well done sha!!!!
(Mab, I'm not sure HollyBug appreciated our kindly advice regarding seals!)
I am having problems with the ji 4/10 word.
Well, they are entertaining when they balance balls on the tips of their noses. How's that?
Merck: the worship of J.
ewwwwww...
wtg sha
I'm missing either the 6th or 7th am 5/14 (have the one that is a plural of the second am 4/6 -- any clues?
i only see 5 am 5/14's
and me is done!!!
Hurrah cliffopa!!!!
there is an am 4/5 that goes something like this: WAIT * ***UTE! (time related) the 5/12 following is plural
can u guys help me?
cliffopa, i cant find that word but i know what it is. Can u help me?
Cyclone - Drop down for the 3rd letter, not up.
whadda ya need cyclone?
wats that supposed to mean?
cyclone: do you know the African leader Idi Am**? That's the word.
YAY cliffopa!
Those are not the am I am missing. Jacuna said there were five am words that had the same first four letters. I need to know what the fourth letter is.
mab, i have no idea wat your talking about.
hello everyone...just got back from eating out....please bear with me !!... :)
merk - think seafaring terms "am** ship"
Any clues on the ad5/12? I swear I've tried every possibility...
jacuna? did jacula and vicuna meld into one?
Hi Karys.
Yes, I have three words that start like that. Vacuna said my two missing five letter words start like that. I cannot find endings that work. Are there five words that start like that place on a ship?
ad 5 - think of a male person who might sell those things that take up most of the space in a magazine.
I still need an 8.... I have ha, in, and so, what am I missing please ?
We will certainly bear with you Karys. Last night someone wanted us to 'bare' with her, but I think most of us declined.
merk, i see no rhyme or reason to the letters that come after the am** we are talking about. no single theme or subject.
please sombody help me
karys you are missing an ma 8 that is a type of wine.
wellllll...I don't mind which....but taking in my age etc... probably the 'bear' might be more acceptable...LOL
ty cliff...will look for that now
cliffopa, that one I got... I've got both ad5/14's, but there's still supposed to be an ad5/12 at least according to licketysplitAUS.
where do u see the place where u know how many words are left?
If you there are many people crowded around you, you are am** them. For the other am, add the opposite of out. Then play with the endings. One will be the plural.
ad5/12 - Spanish goodbye.
ad 5/12 is goodbye in spanish.
cyclone - look at the link on the right hand side under Friends of Babble called Anglelsong
okay fmitch i got. wat next?
merk, have you been to one of the 2nd letter lists to isolaye exactly which it is you are missing?
....read it perhaps?
merk, sorry i haven't been much help. 2 of those 5 letter ams end in vowels. the other two end in the same consonant.
thanks alot fmitch. your a good friend!
Ohh.... got it. I'll save my rant for later about what kind of bizarre dictionary they use that has many actual foreign wordS but lacks many actual English words.
epitone - we've all ranted about that at one time or another!
help here any body? pppplllleeeeaaaasssseeee!
cyclone, now that you have the list, go back through the log looking for clues. If you are still having trouble, you must ask for a specific word as it is difficult to help in a general sense.
I'm finished. 168 words for 2181 points.:-)
need a clue for am6 please
Hurrah Jac!!!!
YAY Jacula!
Congrats Jac!!!!
am6/27 - try making the am5/14 into an adj.
yip yip yoray!
hey mab. what list?
Thanks, folks. Sorry to cut and run but 'Bones' is on Sky 1 shortly. Happy Babbling.x
Is that your chow chow, cliffopa -- such a gorgeous breed.
Cliffopa, that's so funny; I thought I was the only person who said that!
There are sixteen 'am' words. As far as I can tell, I have the first nine and the last five. I am missing two 5/14 'am' words.
yes, that is "tuckerman" we had snow during the nite. i took this pic early am today after giving him a whitewash. he loooovvves the snow.
vicuna, great minds think alike! (and even not so great)
ec7?
merk - do you have the am 5/14 having to do with rodents? and the one that sounds like an actor named don am***
help on ad5/12?
Nevermind. Just got it.
He's a sweetie! We had snow too, of course, but was gone quickly.
gwenski, do share!
well mab, it is april after all. we really should not be having snow now. we needed it more during the winter. ski area in my back yard had a tough year.
Yes I have the mini-rat pack and Don.
merk, how about the 4 letter ship reference with the second vowel on the end?
ec7 definition is deliberate destruction of the natural environment. It ends like the word used to describe mass killings of a race of people.
thanks vicuna
ahh, thanks. I really wanted to use that suffix, and hadn't found a place for it.
another am 5/14 sounds like the spanish word for friend but does not have a ' g ' in it. it starts out like the ship reference.
and the last am 5/14 starts out like the familiar reference but add a consonant that comes after the 3rd letter of your screen name merk.
help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That second am4/6 will take just about any ending you stick on it.
FINISHED - thanks to hurshy's help - with NO LIST
ALERT! ALERT! OVERUSE OF EXCLAMATION POINT!
how do u become a pro to get icons?
I think I have those. What am I missing? This is irksome ... putting it politely.
Cr5/14? Have study at end and wept. TY
do u not like exclamation points, cliffoba?
yes i do! just not so many! makes my eyes buggy!
Hoooray Atalante. I know that sounds flat, but I'm afraid we've exceded our quota on exclamation points. Have a fabulous night.
hey all... is today's puzzle as bad as yesterday's?
I am going crazy trying to figure out de 5/14. I have the unfreezing and the two in card games. Any help on the other one???
Are there 16 am words. Or am I really going batty?

YAY Atalante!

I have two 'am' 5/12 found
Why are the last words always the simplest??? Well, i finally found them all. Starting my victory dance....Anyone need a clue?

Good Evening Babblers - any clues out there for the ji4/10 even monkey typing isn't helping me
gotta go watch a movie. be back later. bye.
Weegee-Need cr5,l4 and da7,36 if you could.
Norma, the j is a nasty slang word in USA for semen... does that help? ends in "m"
cr 5/14 plural of first blooming spring flower, yellow, purple, white...pops through snow (ends in i)
thanks weegee I have never heard of the word but your clue was great
ooo, I didn't know that, weegee. I've saying that it looks like the worship of j - yech.
lst CR 5/14 studying for exams, second one: shed tears, third those nasty beasts in the Everglades --first three letters and then third vowel.
da 7/36 is plural of da 6/24 for lst 3 letters switch vowels for 3 letter spanish word for day, then add 3 letter word starting with m "oh solo m**"
Yes, I am missing two 5/14 just below midway down the list.
Thanks Weegee Norma and I must have led a sheltered life!!
mari, mab, norma... I struggled with that j word and couldn't believe the one slang word I came up with actually worked... no comment on my lifestyle I assure you!
merk...do you use the alphabetical list from lickity?
Yes
Hi Mari Hows Dad ?? Well I hope ?? Our sheltered lifestyle must change before it is tooooo late LOL
weegee, Great clues. Many thanks
Well, off to watch the news. Will be back later, when you are more desperate. He, he!
yw grant. any others?
anyone else find it funny that the puzzle uses the craziest dictionary, but if you click the ? it goes to the not so crazy dictionary.com? (which doesn't have the ji4/4 in it)
Hi Norma Not so good I think he is tired out. As soon as I am rid of my family my life style will change Did I say that 20 years ago??
Oh Thank goodness I am not going crazy today. Someone else cannot find ji 4.
knutmeg, you're soooo right... sometimes there's nothing at all shown when you click the question mark. some of us think dr god makes up words (maybe depending upon his mood)
Yup. Funny. Both peculiar and ha ha.
Mari - what are you on about you got rid of yours I am only just getting rid of mine, by the way they are back tomorrow - then we can get together again
Now that you mention it, there's di6/24. I have the double idi.
Actually Mari we made a lot of promises and dreamed a lot of dreams 20 years ago - usually when we had had a few
Tied up Easter week end but hopefully free soon after. Will speak soon
Give me a ring when you are going to be free - time for bed see you soon
I think todays grid is awful -am really struggling at every stage
grant, 2nd di 6/24, to take away weapons from enemy
Yahooooooo I have finished *****>>>>>***** that was supposed to be fireworks
way to go norma - standing ovation for you (omitting exclamation points per an earlier request)
Congrats but more like a damp squib!!
Sour Grapes
I am glad for your celebrations, but I "am" two 5/14 away from mine. Not to mention the "ji" 4
Thanx Weegee - Mari where is your picture ???
True true
grant, do you have the di 6/24 that's singular of di 7/36 (sounds like combination of sparkly engagement stone and healthy pills taken in the morning)
Picture is too much for me and note I have an English flag
Next time I come over we will sort it - take care everyone time for bed
YAY Norma!
merk...ji+snake-sound consonant and lst letter of merk... nasty US slang for semen
Thanks again. (The stone/pill combo double idi) but missing peace movement calls for fish.
all the am 5/14s... lst: a+plural of Mickey & Minnie; 2nd: am+ french for "here" or 3 letter word for frozen water with 2nd vowel changed to match lst; 3rd:am + lst three letters of 4 letter word for thought; 4th: spanish for friend with g changed to d; 5th am + plural of 2-word abbreviation for one's identification
You there yet merk?
weegee -- thank you! I was beginning to despair I would ever figure them out...
yw stidmama, glad to help
Good evening, all. Just checking back to see how everyone's getting on.
I have 50 words left to find, I am off for a break. See you later...
LEEN are you there? haven't played for a few days and this one is awful.
Hi Haz...I've got to go get supper going. Later, all. Good babbling
Looks like you've earned a break with lots of clue-giving!
Thanks for the ji help weegee. I'm working on the am clues now.
Evening, all.
Good evening, Judi.
great clues, weegee, thanks!
is today's super hard?
It's the hardest I've done for quite a while.
Uh oh. Another hard grid. I thought yesterday's was beastly enough.
eep...
This one is worse, Judi.
i've only got 35 words so far. blah
Right, then. Thanks for ruining my evening, Haz. Here I thought I was all brainy for having 96 words already.
The one reamining am 5/14 that confuses me: It's the fourth 5/14 in Lickety"s. T he clue given was 4th: spanish for friend with g changed to d; I must be doing something wrong. It's not working for me.
Merk - am plus part of 'false god'
Oh I got it. I was going right hand corner for feminine instead of left hand for male. Thanks.
Judi - you're doing really well to have 96 words!
What about mi 4/6 fourth from the bottom.
And I didn't mean to ruin your evening.....
hi kids.
mi 4/6 - the fourth mi from the bottom - relates to your brain.
Welll, it's too early to be ruined anyway, Haz. Hiya, Boreetos.
happy shel day!
hi boreetos
Relates to the brain is mi 4/5. I need mi 4/6
hi- ya all im new here

Hi Punka101 this game is really addictive. Are you sure you want to start cause you'll never stop
Hi Ch1212

Hi talk24 - I've got you beat by one day. I started monday. Not doing too well but too stubborn to quit

zas, me too! I won't give up but I still suck haha I'm only at 39
hi stidmama
hey stidmama .. good luck!
LOL boreetos -- I've noticed a lot of folks just write 'ch' and that's that. I pretty much answer to anything :)
You're right. I must need 4/5 with 'mi'
ch...hmmmm... i dont know. what does it mean?
The mi4/5 above the 'brain' ends in a vowel
I have been doing this too long. I need an mi 4/6 and it is right in the middle of the pack.
The mi4/5 below is start of looking glass then third vowel
I need two above brain, Haz
Hi Everyone -- back again -- got called away without having a chance to say so last time. Hi Haz :)
hi cybernan!
ch1212 is my old initials plus the date December 12, which has special meaning in 4 ways. It's also the address to my hotmail account, which I got back in the days when you only needed six characters before the @ sign.
what is " mi..."??
I found it. I neglected to go to the left. I was dogging to the right again.
december 12 is my dad's birthday as well as my girlfriend's brother's b-day. (december 10th is my moms.)
Hi, cybernan.
I am finished. And as always, I could not have completed it without that fine group of minds out there! Did anyone else have problems today with words not being accepted that should have been?
good job merk!
YAY Merk!
Merk - we just had problems, full stop!
wow, boreetos -- one of the 12/12 is my mom's birthday
cool! sagitarius is a popular sign.
hey you guys give such great clues. I'm learning lots of words. But I feel like I'm cheating coz you're doing all the work 8)
gotta get back to work kids, I'll see you all on Monday!! Have a great evening/weekend!!!
zas - the day will come when you start handing out clues. Getting help that is offered is not cheating!
thanks Haz you're so sweet
and for thowse of you who didn't see it last time: Shel Silverstein's take on Conderella! "From dusk to dawn, From town to town, Without a single clue I seek the tender, slender foot To fit this crystal shoe. From dusk to dawn, I try it on Each damsel that I meet And I still love her so, but oh, I've started hating feet."

any help for aa 5/14?
Past tense expression of satisfaction or surprise
talk 24, aa is oo**ed and aa*** over the new baby
everyone ohed and aa*** over the bride
Well, my clue was WAY too obvious, sorry. Haz gives much better clues :)
oh, thanks gramma, now I don't feel so bad!
the 2nd da 5/14 is eluding me ... clues?
da plus 'to spoil'
I could use a little help from my friends. I don't know, but; I think it's the last im 5.
thanks guys those clues were great :)
thanks, haz
The last im5/14 is the plural of im4/6
Hey all! Back to complete the A's and C's....
TY. I thought I had that. Where do they go?
gramma- I sometimes find that I type a word without making sure that the cursor is at the right place. That's my theory for the missing words.
di 6/24 (first one)?
1st di6: " A feudal lord of Japan who was a large landowner."
Start the word as for precious stone, then end with a preposition
Hi Jen! What's for dinner tonight? We're having tunafish sandwiches later on... and not just because of this grid!
I can't believe ji4 is a word!
Haz nice clue
Jera -- love the tartan...
Thanks, Haz -- must have monkey typed every other possibility!
Hey there stidmama! I made some pizza dough this afternoon... so Italian-style pizzas tonight! Trying to use up all my food stores before we leave for Florida on Monday! :)
Thanks, stidmama... it's for National Tartan Day
mmmm pizza... florida? as in -- not playing Babble?!?
It's one of those grids that makes you dizzy by the end! Glad to help.
{{Jera}} how's it goin' this evening?
last di 4/5? --- can't see any possibility, alphabetically
Nope stid! I could never be away from babble for a month! LOL Bringing my laptop down with us, and my parents have like 3 other computers as well.
di plus shortened expression of thanks
On and on, Jen... still not feeling much better but I've made a point of keeping up with my pain meds today so I'm still alive...
Hi everyone!! I have the ha8 and ha9 and sa8. Help with the other 8 letter words would be most appreciated.
last di4/5 is very common to babble..."evergreen tree of eastern Asia and Philippines having large leathery leaves and small green-white flowers in compact cymes; bark formerly used medicinally"
in8/50
ty haz -- blind today!
ma8 Spanish sweet wine
Une, I know there is an in 8 I need a clue/hint pretty please
in 7/36 is the singular for in8. Put ci into a large Asian country
You poor thing Jera! What are you taking for it?
in8/50 postage paid imprint on envelope
ma 8 - plural Portugese island/cake/wine
whew! glad to hear you won't be "away" for a long time... funny how quick I've come to look forward to all you misfits when I log in to play! :-P
peri, i don't think there's an sa8 . . .
so8/55 - fizzy drink, plural mouse, with c replaced by following letter
That's me! Living on the Island of Misfit Babblers! :)
oh, you probably mean the so8, right?
Just handfuls of ibuprofen. I don't want to do narcotics while I'm the adult in charge.
Oops, Une, I meant the so8, I found it all by myself this morning!!
thanks, found the ma7 and ma8 re wine
Yikes, you are right! It's hard though when you are in pain and really need the extra-oomph to kill the pain. {{pain-free vibes}} headed your way!
Thanks Jen... wish I could take naprosyn... I had bad vertico side effects with that... absolutely pain-free, though, LOL
Jera, I know pain, too. (((gentle hugs)))
can't figure out the in7 or in8, more help please
jen jen!
last im 5/14?
in7 and in8 Markings on bulk mailings used as a substitute for stamps
Lucky you that naprosyn actually works, though. :) I cried the day they took Cafergot off the market for migraines.
in7 - first four letters of Native American, followed by initial letters of American Secret Service
nut nut! LOL
The last im5/14 is the plural of the im4/6 that starts the whole lot off.
how ya doin kiddo
in 7 & (pl): subcontinent with first two initials for USA spy agency thrown in just before the last letter.
Groovy-groove! You? Anyone else mad that it doesn't accept "craisin"? LOL
thanks, found the in7 and in8, taking a break, may be back later.
top o the world *spins*
i just bought cronicles of narnia. i can't have the big screen, i'm debating just watching it on the portable dvd player.
later periwinkle!
Haven't seen that yet... the minchkin wants to see it but not sure if it's okay for an almost 5 year old.
ja 6/36 anyone?
i'll give you the scoop when i watch it.
ja6/36 - sweet smelling flower - usually spelt with an e at the end
Cool! TY! ja6... it's like Aladdin's love, only take off the last vowel.
thanks haz... got it right b4 ur clue my bad lol
i'm still only on 50, i stink blah!
how is "marm" not a word? (school marm?) hola to all!
Not to worry!
This is a difficult grid - don't feel bad as you get better with more practice.
Hi twinkie! Yes, I think we all tried marm in vain today! LOL
But sm5 IS acceptable..
It's time for bed so I'll say goodnight. Hope the hunt goes well.
'nite Haz! Sweet dreams! :)
gnight haz
g'night Haz!
nite haz twinkie, now why didn't i think of twinkie?
hi jen--like your seminole! (is that right--seminole?)
hi Twinkie! so, did you go pro?
WOO HOO twinkie! You are my new bud! LOL Yes, it's a Seminole head! I am an FSU alumna.
any natives here tonight?
yep, just went pro! :-) gotta find a good icon. (you all have some great ones.) i have a bunch on my ichat, but not sure how to xfer them to this... back in a minute to figure it out.
natives as in...... ???
as in indigenous north american........
i'm native, quite gullible actually - ooh wait, that's naive.
Uh, not me.... 1/4 Hungarian, 1/4 Sicilian, 1/4 Irish, 1/4 English... (so based on the first 3/4... I have a temper LOL)
good for you, Twinkie! Can hardly wait to see how yourrepresent yourself! :-)
I'll bite.... whiskbisk, are you a native?
czeck, russian, german
yah, i am mik maq. i just thought from your icon maybe you were native too... but no.
Oh -- then it is the 2nd to last im 5 I'm looking for!
Thanks, Haz if you're still around --- must apologize to everyone if I seem a little distracted -- my husband is working on a project, which makes me gofer-in-chief.
German/Irish, Dutch, English, Scottish, French, Welsh(?) in that order...
off to watch chronicles then, i can always watch it on the big one later.
later, nut!
down to a mere 21 words... but fading fast. Time for a break, back when the coffee's brewed!
Nope, sorry. Just a rabid FSU fan, since I grew up in Tallahassee, dad teaches there, and I got my BS and MSEd there, and hubby went there... and hoping our son goes there (already have him enrolled in the FL pre-paid college plan)... Although, interesting to note... the Seminole Head logo is not actually one of a Seminole tribe member... it is actually the profile of a former music professor (God rest his soul) who composed our fight song.
jen - interesting. well the seminole are a noble people :)
mi 6?
Evening All: These puzzles have been brutal stuck on the an's just not getting them help please
am back! whiskbisk, not native, but I am mexican american (first generation). but i look white (biological father, who I never knew, was polish jew who escaped from the holocaust). i have an interesting history... y tu?
sure speed -- which one first?
sweet
YOU SUCK MICO AND JOHN
btw, jen, i like the seminoles (but annoyed that the braves took your fight song). you guys did it better.
Let's start with the first one, maybe that will help me get more.....
Twinkie: Hi. I'm 3/4 mik maq 1/4 irish. In Nova Scotia, Canada.
what are you doing Larry Dan Burlington? you have work to do!
si john paul mendoza supot pa. tae na mga hunghang
wtf u talking about man??
KANTUTAN NA!!
sorry, what does "mik maq" mean? (i'm not too familiar with the tribes that were native to what's now canada...know more of the MA/RI tribes from having gone to school there, and now the NC tribes from living here, and of course the so. cal/mexican tribes from my background/upbringing...)
watch your mouth boy
watch you ass fag
an 4/5: think of the spice that tastes like licorice and drop the last vowel an 5/12: make the above into an adjective, by dropping last letter and adding "like" suffix.
Hi, Speedfreak and all. I'm looking for an's too. Ive got the one that sounds like answer pronounced with an accent, and the one that is like the spice, but a letter short (both 4/4's. Any others? Book
john and dan magtrabaho na kyo
oops -- got carried away -- scratch the an 5/12 clue
wanna chat? I'm Miguel Tani. I'm 4'5" and i weigh at allegedly 260 lbs.
rip -- word of warning -- that kind of language will get you suspended from babbble!
twinkie: mik maq, it is the name of my people. our land ranges all over the canadian maritimes and down into maine a bit
i'm 24, F, philippines
so, having just joined officially...am looking at the stats and am curious how you find out which 4, 5, 6 letter words begin with each of the first two letters (since the stats don't show that). or is that something i can only get from lickity's clues?
Break time guys!!
cool--mik maq. I didn't realize it was the full name. i love learning from other people! :-)
hey larry, are you really a fag?
I use the babbler's anonymous link at the right, click on stats, it gives a listing by first two letters and values.
Twinkie -- welcome --we use a two letter word list -- you will find the link on angelsong's page (under friends of babble) --- it would really be worth your while to give her page a look see.
me habla español
rip: vete a la verga
dan, what's your score?
bonjour monsieur
wtf, ripnstock, axe and company -- I would ask you to bear in mind that we have children as young as age 9 playing this game, please conduct your chat accordingly.
hola todos
Twinkie, just got back with my cup of coffee... love the pretty doggie! Is it an australian shepherd or ?
Evening all Another killer puzzle it seems, gave up on yesterdays, not doing so hot on this one either.
Me neither, Sheryl, I'm at 52 words...
border collie--her name is (was) luna. she was an AWESOME dog. died on dec. 15th. :-( this is her typical pose: waiting for someone to throw the ball.
Good Evening ladies! Pardon the expression, but this puzzle is definitely a wolf in sheeps clothing!
hi Sheryl! yes, it's another toughie. But I've spent more time on it today so am not as far behind as usual! for some reason, the ra words gave me lots of fish... and so did the ha words.
(the pic got messed up/distorted b/c it's not a square pic)
so sorry to hear about luna. we had a friend whose border collie/shepherd mix died about a year ago, they are such nice dogs, and so bright!
Hello, GW -- tough indeed.
question: it says in the stats that I have 0 out of 2 "m" words, but I have at least one "m" word... can someone explain? thanks.
Twinkie -- I think it still does luna justice -- very lovely dog :)
help this is all i have dams hade jams made mans ride rims
Woulf! Woulf in the dungeon! oh wait, sorry -- that was a different day. :-)
salut, zero!
please don't post actual words on the chat list!
does anyone have a clue for the ha 8 or the ha 9 pls tired of monkey typing
araz -- please do not post words in the log -- it is definitely a no no!
ha4/6 + ma4/6
yes, Sheryl -- Queen Amidala was surrounded by bodyguards who were also her ha 8/9
ha 8 is a helpful lady, ha9 makes two of them
ha 8 & 9(pl): compound word meaning servant
greywolf, love your pooch--is it yours?
stidmama - I haven't been in a dungeon in quite some time -- having the kids has definitely interfered with my gaming time ;) Hopefully, when they are older, I will be able to get them to play with me
ty guys
did i read earlier today that Seb slept all the way through the night? what did you do? put valerian in his bottle?
Twinkie -- don't I wish! No, he is just a wolf image I found online.
ok, an amendment to my earlier q: it shows two columns of "m", one says 0 for 2, the other 8 for 22. what does that mean re: stats?
sorry i have only played for 2 days
no prob araz--
GW -- really hate to disillusion you, but by the time the kids are old enough for D&D, they will think their parents are impossibly stuffy and old fashioned!
thx
he's beautiful (greywoulf)--nice pic
Don't give it another thought, araz
Twinkie -- the top of the stats gives you how many words will begin with each letter on the grid (bottom #) and how many you have acquired (top #), when you have all the possible words that come from that letter, it gets grayed out.
Stid -- yep, Seb slept for 6 hours straight with no external influence -- and he has done it 2 days in a row. Tonight is the make or break -- if he does it again, I am officially the luckiest dad on the planet!
different
doh! guess i should just read the instrucxtions... each "m" in the log refers to a different "m" on the board. ok, never mind!
thanks stid!
woo-hoo! My kids didn't sleep through the night until they were nearly a year old.
every one please welcome Bodups, going to try to get him addicted :p
you really are, GW! My daughter didn't sleep thru the nite till she was 8 wks old (how old i Seb now?)
Greywoulf-- Don't worry! Cybernan's wrong. I've twisted (um, influenced) my sons into wonderful gamers. They thought they had hit gold when they found my old 1st edition stuff. And oldest son wrote a chapter for the Serenity RPG game book...when he should have been doing his Freshman Final studying. Luckily, he did well enough. ~blessed be book
twinkie, I had the same puzzlement this morning, since I just went pro. You click on the "need help with the stats? That explains the numbers.
you never know, c-nan :) After all, I got my mom (hootowl) hooked on roleplaying so who knows what the future will hold. Maybe they will find something new to hook me on!
hi arisha! whereabouts from down under are you from? (i lived in melbourne for a year way back in 89-90)
...it ....hi.....me ...am ... darn i am good at this
im in melbourne to
hi bodups!
Welcome bodups
welcome, bodups!
mi 6/24?
Welcome, bodups!!! Don't worry about us natives, we all started out where you are at one point!
Une -- Seb is 9 weeks tomorrow :)
wow, doesn't seem like he could be that old yet!
need a clue please for am5/14 could be the first or second
une, I like your icon -- it's sweet.
Add an e to an am 4/6?
rosalind, the first and second am 5/14 are different by only one letter - the last. The first is a + plural of your computer tool
opposite to oohed
bookwyrmish -- that is very cool!! and I am not concerned about whether they game or not -- as long as they have fun. Kristianna is already a voracious reader at 2 1/2, and I know it is because she sees that her parents love books. So I figure I have a good chance :D
thanks, ch1212--"borrowed" it from a British illlustrator I discovered this morning ;-)
All those am 14's start with the am 4/6 letters and add different vowels.
am 5/14: a + rodents am 5/14:am + french here
Thanks for the clue ch1212 got it now.
Grey, At 2 1/2, if she is enjoying books in any way you've gotten a great start! I had one reading at 3, and one who was too much of a perfectionist to let himself start until half-way through first grade. But that last guy took off and wound up getting an 800 on the Verbal SAT! They're all so different. Enjoy both of yours. book
mi 6/24 -- please?
Whew! I'm back! My good friend came over to return my signed Sur Grafton book and we got to chit-chatting! :)
Oh, believe me, I am, book -- though his crying does get a bit annoying at times :)
sorry, c-nan -- I have nothing greater than 5 letters in length except the ha8/9
thx anyway, gw
I haven't got it either, Cybernan. Sorry
oi 5/12?
wait -- I just found an ra6! Yay me!!
oi 5/12: oi + spanish for day
obviously sp. day is nothing like fr. day!!!
da 6/24?
got it stid, thanks.
try oi + another word for watch face - l
yes, thanks for that stid, it gave me the ra5/6 combo as well :)
da6: plural of da 5/14
yw... :-)
oops, sorry, the first da 6
hello again friendly babble people. enjoying the puzzle?
was it in the sun, gw?
That was the the 1st ra6 I found, c-nan -- the oi clue gace me the music box :)
hi cliffopa! Could you spare a clue or two? (whine, whine, whimper)
Cybernan, did you ever get that mi5,24?
mi 6 begins with word for central, then add the stuff we breathe
Sorry, mi6,24
absolutely. i am ready to help.
still looking for the mi 6/24
Thanks, inge -- and congrats on going pro!!
inge, you're a gem! cliffopa, I am stuck on tuna, I suspect... ma 4/5 the first?
gw -- for the other ra 6, think of "heard it on the grapevine"
also frustrated by the jo words...
don't have it yet cyber or i would help out
the first ma 4/5 sounds very similar to the name for a female horse.
jo + what you do with your shopping cart when someone is bugging you at the grocery store, lol, not that i ever did that
Inge -- thank you -- *as we all give ourselves several smacks with that mackerel*
I'll need more mayo to get all this fish down... (thanks folks)
having a heck of a time with the big words tonight, help for the ma 7 or 8 pls
jo's - Miss Stafford followed by male sheep
cybernan, the mi you are looking for is where something would be suspended if it were up in the sky.
got it -- thanks, cliff
ma 7 & 8 have to do with a type of wine. singular and plural
ma 7: a spanish wine ma 8: plural
mi 6/24 : recently we talked of ***western states, add the word for what we breathe to those three letters.
Must go and make supper -- back later
bye nan :)
ma7 is a Portugese sweet wine, or the island near the Iberian peninsula... or, from an old time skit: "more ma..., my deara"
later c-nan (*Hug*)
later, nan!
any hints for ec 7/40?
tommy, ec7 is environmental murder.
ec 7 : destruction of nature
inge, don't get that clue. another clue?
Hi everyone, are there clues in the log for ha8 and 9? I'm stumped. Thanks
homi**** is to murder man, ec 7 is to murder nature
never mind, jen's clue below helped--thanks!
ec = killing the environment or, 1st 3 letters of something you study in college ***nomics and the last part of the word for wiping out a whole group of people geno****
ec 7: third letter is round vowel, then ending of homo****
thanks...got it. :)
just getting started on the c's -- here goes. evening all
hi pbr!
thank you cliff and Inge

Got to go. See you all tomorrow. Good night all.
G'Nite Inge, thanks for all the help!
got anyway good old monkey typing
'night inge! thanks!
G'nite inge!! And Congrats on pro one more time!! (*Hug*)
hi pbr!
instead of wine, think of something ma** by hand, and then the abbreviation for a type of monetary retirement plan.
got it cliff but ty
These am5's are killing me... still need 2 more am5/14's... I need the one next to the rodent one & the one next to the spanish middle... can anyone help me?
i keep seeing words that aren't... shout out to the aussies, i saw good ol' tasman in there
This really is a nasty grid, I stll have over 100 words to go, typically I would be over half done by now :0
ineed a clue for am6 and for the second da6/24 please
I need help on the in 5... and i'm about to strangle the kids who are fighting in the background. grumble. time for dinner...
am6 ends with the "like" suffix
Found the ha8 and 9 on my own, thanks
jera the am 5/14 am + thrid vowel + consonent and the 2nd vowel change the last letter to another vowel for the other one
ITA, GW... I couldn't stick to my goal of halfway before using the list...
Okay, not that anyone even noticed me or my clues, but I'll be back soon... gotta give munchkin a bath.
stidmama - think of a film unassociated with a big studio, or a certain type of rock music
*looks blankly at Cheryl... feels another headache start to throb*
i still don't get the clue for the wine... i seem to be spelling it wrong, or the way I *think* it should be spelled isn't on the board :-\
{{{{JEN}}}}
Sorry Jen-- distracted by mine here, go enjoy (*Hug*)
twinkie... use "ei" in it...
twinkie, do you know about the reverse dictionary yet? a web site where you enter a discription or an idea and it gives you many different choices - you might find your hard words this way. http://www.onelook.com/
thanks! I coulda sworn I tried that! only the da 4/6 da words to go now... back after dinner!
cindasu - think of the first 3 letters of the gem in most engagement rings, and then the 1st 3 letters of a measure of time (not seconds or hours)
thanks jera
oops - sorry cin, i gave you a di clue. *smacks self in forehead*
ok cliff i still tried it
the da you might be looking for is da + dogs are supposed to be **** best friend
cliffopa -- thx!!! I am working on the di7/40 now!
ah 6????
that was the one thanks
Anyone care to try & help me again with my missing am5/14's? I have the rodent, the middle, & the spanish middle, if that makes any sense... I need 2 more, I THINK the second & the last ones...
tommy .... a + not hers but *** + vowel you started out with
you've GOT to be kidding me! These words are so weird!!!
thanks cliff!
yw tommy. Jera, do you have the am 5/14 that is like the last name of the actor Don Am*** (not spelled the same as the actor, but sounds like it) uses 2 of the 3rd vowel.
there is also an am that builds off the popular 4 letter am word in today's list. just add a vowel on the end from your screen name.
I need either the first or second one... I have the rodent-sounding one...
It's an am5/14, I do know that...
cliffopa, you are a miracle worker tonight! SO... inbetween the mi 4/5 that is plural rodents, and the mi 5/14 that is musical format for electronics (plural), there are TWO mi 5/14s and one mi 6/24 (I assume a plural)... could I have clues for the two missing mi 5/14's? Thanks :)
help please for both ad5/14, btw, hello everyone, back after a long break, will probably not finish, finding this to be another difficult grid
periwinkle, one ad 5/14 is French for goodbye, the other is two words -- ad + adult male
One is a french goodbye, the other a guy who makes commercials (idea guy)
ad 5/14 goodbye, but not spanish ad 5/14 a Madison ave guy
2 mi 5's have to do with being very, very small. both end in vowels
mi 6/24 has nothing to do with the others. think.... a balloon floats in mi**** (what the sky is made of)
Thanks Cliffopa! Got them.
the last da5/14 and then done please
Jera and sonipitts, got the guy you makes commercials but can't see the french goodbye, the word I am thinking of does not exist here
am so ashamed of myself for not being able to work out the french goodbye...just shows how awful english schools are at teaching languages
cindasu - if you use reverse dictionary, your da is a gold coin of ancient persia
if you don't use the reverse dictionary, da + first 3 letters of an actor back on GH, who also was a singer ***k Springfield
periwinkle, if you like Sound of Music, the song the kids sing to say goodnight to the grownups has the word... "Ad***, ad***, to you, and you, and you!"
ooh ooh! i love the sound of music. raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens.....
thanks ((((hugs)))) cliffopa it was a awful puzzle but am done
(singing) bright copper kettle and warm woolen mittens!
ch1212, thanks so much, found the french good bye, I was thinking of au revoir and knew it wasn't here :)
>^:^< yeah cindasu!
ah6/24 anyone?
and am6/27 please
be back later all -- happy babbling!
YAY cindasu!
later ch1212!
peri thats the only am I don't have
ah what people do over a new baby they o** and ah* past tense

Hey hey... not that anyone noticed I was gone... but I am back! :) Munchkin is bathed, clothed, tucked in bed, read to (actually he read to me! my baby is growing up!!! Sob), and I am free to finish this da4/6 grid once and for all!

ty cliff
peri - the a's took me the longest of any letter on today's puzzle. i finished fairly early 'cause i started at 6 am today.

ty cliff
hehehe i am positively giddy with relief. now maybe when Tom comes home I can actually spend time with him instead of thinking of the grid!
I'm not sure there are enough am words. >.< (sarcasm is our friend when difficult grids are around)
between the am words, the an words and my dumb fingers, I thought I would never get past 'em all!

night Twinkie
last MI4/5 - unmarried lady's title - minus final 's' + vowel.
i do like that you can look them up w/ the question mark, and that as far as i've seen, all of them are real words (unlike webboggle, which when you check out a link, half the time there's no real definition)

the grid was bad enough, but you guys are killing me with the food talk! Who wants a rich, gooey, brownie? (I may have to go cook something...)
rennie, if I give you the list of ingredients, you could pick up the groceries we need. Then we can all meet at Mamabear's and Jaianniah can teach you how to cook, and I can hold the baby, and...
mama have you seen mistress jacula's recipes?......oy vey!!!
Sadly no recipe for it. My mother -in-law orders it from I think the Kansas City Steak company, or something like that. Its basically a black forest cake with a layer of eggnog gooey numminess with the cherries in the middl and then frosted with the eggnog gooey numminess and chocolate frosting, with walnuts on the side. *SO* good.
after all this sweet stuff. need something salty - *mamabear grabs bag of cheetos from rennie and gets the tongs (I hate when my fingers turn orange)*
