I actually sort of get a thrill out of getting a book second-hand. First that it's not expensive, and secondly that someone else has presumably read it - I like something about that. Of course, once in my library it rarely goes any further in the world.

The hilarity of Coulton's piece is in the difference between the two. Of course, I'm a fan of remakes, remixes and cross-genre work, like the rave remix of Phantom of the Opera theme.
I recently heard some remix of Jobim signature songs, like the Wave, or the Girl from Ipanema, done by some hip hop people. It didn't hold together very well.
Yeah, some really work and some...well, not so much. Gah. It's almost 2am. I shouldn't start Babbling at this hour. It's just too hard to focus. Or it coulda been the zombie melody. I think I'll call it a night and come back refreshed tomorrow.

I was caught up in a relationship with a guy... he was great! then one day at the club, his 'girlfriend' comes over and threatens to tell his 'wife' about everything (I had no idea about this girlfriend OR the wife) unless he pays her all this money!! He turns to me and says, "I love you"... I tell him to FO and shut his pie hole and leave!

the baby has (his) own room on the 1st floor of our house, bedroom is on 2nd so i got to sleep....when i went to bed anyway. i couldn't tear myself away from the cutie pie until midnite. we had a little scare yesterday - his legs weren't working for a while. but he is racing around today :) i know what you mean about the weather! i hope we don't have to pay for all this sunshine with a rainy summer. it has been soooo nice.
i'm predicting a bad year for black flies. it has been so dry around here i don't know how they could be reproducing.
wonder what was wrong with his legs? If there was swelling from the attack I suppose that could do it temporarily.
unllke mospquitos, which like standing water, blackflies need clean,running water and we still have plenty of that.
the vet said probably just nerve damage or swelling. xrays were fine.
i did not know that eva (clean running water) but we still should do okay. brooks and streams in my area are running low if running at all. not very good for fishing.

i'll have to go back and look if i don't make much progress. i have not been challenging myself enough lately (i've been using lickety's list less than halfway thru)
I go it on my own until I run dry, then review the log, then ask for help, then when I come back at the end of the day I give in another go and then go for BJ's list when I'm down below 30 or so. More than that and using the lists is just too exhausting physically.
You could bring Brady over for a play date. I would love to find out how Merp would react to a kitten, to know whether we could get another cat. But it would mean having one here for weeks, for long enough to tell once the fur stops flying, and I would be heart broken if I had to give a kitten back to the pound.

I'm finding it rough going, but then I often do, unlike some of you. 77 left to find after about an hour.
i've had to be very patient when introducing new cats in my house. 3 1/2 yrs ago i adopted 2 elderly cats and it was a year before they could be in my dog's company. then the 3 yr old female came on board 18 months ago. she wanted to be friendly, but the old guys were not impressed. the one old guy i still have chases her if she comes close. but that is why we have the 'safe' room with gates in the door - so they can get to know each other slowly.
I call nearly 100 words in a hour great going Eva!!!

i'm happy brady came thru everything okay too. i still can't believe i have a kitten! i haven't raised a kitten for 18 yrs. i can't stop looking at him or taking pictures. good cure for my 'empty nest' problem.
Those first 100 are usually pretty fast, but I still don't have a propeer babble vocabulary, so once the common words run dry I have to wait for the rest of you to reveal the secret codes. Cliff-speaking of empty nest, how is your son doing?
also, I decided a while ago, after the initial mania died down some, that I don't want to work to hard at the grids. I only do what I can do in a relaxed way. After all (ducking so as not to get shot) it's "only a game", and if it's not fun it's not worth it. Also, it's not good for the fibromylagia to stay at it for too long.
thank you for asking eva. my son is doing well. he has been able to call me 3 times (only for 3 minutes each time) but now he has email so i'm sure he'll keep me updated more often. he says he is enjoying the challenges, except for the heat. it has been in the 80's since he got there (alabama).

i'm still trying to come out of the babble 'mania' stage. since i completed my first grid about a month ago, i haven't been able to go a day without finishing.
my son will only be in 'bama until july. he was accepted into the USAF as a mechanical engineer and will be doing research and development for aeronautics. there are a handful of bases where the engineers work on research, including one in massachusetts, but he won't find out until july where he is going. fortunately officers in his position don't spend much if any time in battle zones.

Yeck, the city I live in has just implemented a new garbage reducing plan, each house is only allowed one bag of garbage a week. They have given us a small composte pail to use and we are suposed to put all our food waste, coffee grounds etc. in it, do you think I can remember to use it, lol. Looks Iike I will have to pay for my extra bags next week, lol

Amen, snowy! History is a bore to kids today.
It's pathetic. I love history, did it for A-level and for two years at university. Learning dates and facts became second nature. My two daughters similarly did history, but they have no overview of how the centuries changed etc.
I love history & so do my Girls. I guess I'm pretty good at making it fun...
He also asked me if I had to write with a quill pen! Almost - but not quite! Oh how I hated the wooden pen with the broken metal nib! Hi Jera! & gramma - just had to use our Guide logo!
I think it's so important to be able to understand that the world is why it is today because of what happened before.
I'm tutoring turn of the century Amer. history..the jazz age, etc. I hear "What's jazz?" I try to show the similarities on immigration then and now, they don't care.
One of my favorite sayings is Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. I quoted that the other day & my husband asked the Sprite, do you know who said that? And she said, Mom! (Meaning I made it up, not that I said it just then). That was pretty funny.

My Grandmother on my Father's side was from Germany and always made them a month before Christmas and hung them on the back porch (closed in) in a cloth flour sack till Christmas.
