4:00 am

There are a lot of saintly fish in the grid today.

4:01 am

4:02 am

4:03 am

lol sprite!!

4:04 am

i askm all the time for money!

4:05 am

See? Perfectly normal word :) Same for 'ooph', btw. Easily as common as aargh, if you ask me.

4:40 am

Morning all. Looks as if I will be babbling today as it is a much smaller grid.

4:40 am

First one end in what you wear on your head. Second one ends in very warm minus last letter.

4:41 am

Must have some breakfast first though

4:41 am

ExWren, jump in, it is smallish and not hard today.

4:41 am

morning,

4:42 am

Hi scatty

4:46 am

anyone please give me a clue for the sh 6/33 its my last word and its really puzzling me

4:49 am

It's used as a disparaging term for a non-Jewish girl or woman. Starts with the first 3 letters of a boat, then a consonant I hate, then past tense of to see without last letter.

4:52 am

Sorry, I wandered off to shop... greetings to newcomers!

4:54 am

Done! Any more clues needed?

4:56 am

Just back after making dinner preparations. Congratulations Sprite!

4:57 am

Huzzah for Sprite! Wish I was organized enough to ask for clues...

5:07 am

Good morning Ginger (and bex) - haven't seen you for a day or two.

GOOD MORNING HAZ!

5:08 am

5:08 am

Good morning MrPresident! Are you well?

5:09 am

Bex - I really meant Ginger not having been around at the same time as me, but I wanted to include you in my greeting as well!

5:10 am

oh ok! i just thought u meant u hadnt seen me!

5:10 am

Hmmmm... al5/12 is valid, but not hola... sh6/33 but not sikh... can't figure out this crazy enable dictionary... does anyone know the rhyme or reason of it?

Thank you I am! and you?? Hi Bex and Kary and ruthy and scatty and Jera and ginger and exwren! Everyone popped on at the same time!!

5:10 am

I really don't believe there can be 2 k's.....I'm sure I've tried everything possible !!!

5:11 am

I'm fine, MrP. We're still waiting for spring to arrive properly. I keep looking at my summer clothes and wondering when I can get them into use!

5:11 am

karys i have the 2 k's they are both kh's

5:12 am

Do you have the feline? The other one rhymes with another word for smooch

Karys - two K's second letter on both H, Forget the K, one you can put on your head, then other is a male thing.

5:12 am

Good clues, lickety!

5:13 am

thank you sooo much both !!!!

Love your pic Jera, gotta run - 250's about to start soon.

5:14 am

Thanks, he combines 2 fears for me. I hate clowns. But I adore Tim Curry!

Yeah - Clown's are a bit distrubing - I'd be guessing on who Tim Curry is.

5:16 am

He's the actor who played Pennywise the Clown in the movie IT

Lickety... cast your memory back to Rocky Horror Picture Show... he was the transvestite lead male! ((Who is Tim Curry!! PPhfftt!)

Oh yeah - Now I know where I know him. Thanks for the reminder mrp. And IT - oh my ---- That was one of the many Stephen King novel's that I was totally hooked on, but still haven't seen the movie!

5:21 am

He's changed a lot, though! i wanted him to be Mad-Eye Moody in the Harry Potter movie...

5:22 am

ty sprite

5:22 am

Pennywise was the best part of the movie. Actually seeing IT was quite a let-down. Much scarier in imagination...

5:22 am

thats me finished thanks for the clues

Those Harry Potter movies are great. They have a license to write whatever they want! Magic and Wizardry opens ALL doors!

ruthy gets *~*~*~FIREWORKS!~*~*~*

5:24 am

Huzzah for ruthy!

5:24 am

Need help please with the ha6

5:24 am

congrats ruthy !!!!......spose I'd better slope of to the ironing board for a while :(

Yeah IT scared me too. The imagery that S King gets your mind going to is purely evil. It's good for the character - building and testing!

5:25 am

It's plural ring around the saint's head - vowel attached

ha + electronic letter (take out the i)

5:25 am

jera....plural of the round shiny things above your head !!

5:25 am

Sorry, all those people that said Hi and I didn't reply.... I ALWAYS get disturbed LOL Someone admired my icon.. thank you :-) It's my son and Grand daughter!

5:26 am

Thanks, MrP... that's the one I needed, didn't notice there were more than one (sorry)

5:26 am

now that was clever of you Ginger, to get them so close together :)

5:26 am

Haz, I have been doing the sodukos but falling asleep in the evening... when Imostly do Babble :-O

5:27 am

That explains why I haven't seen you around for a while!

5:27 am

yes Karys... my oldest daughter with the kids is 24 in May and DJ my son is 5!

5:28 am

I only managed 17 years between my eldest and youngest !!

5:30 am

lol.... how many inbetween though? I have 4 inbetween but a 10 year gap between 2 sets of 3

5:34 am

Rather a middle-eastern feel to the grid today

5:47 am

Need help with the sk5, please

5:49 am

It's like the inuit minus the first vowel.

5:50 am

Thanks, Haz!

hey wot does the ummm lets say sk5 mean?

5:51 am

It's a strange word - no definition given.

5:51 am

word with 5 letters starts with sk

5:52 am

Tessley - it means a word beginning with sk which is 5 letters long. Look at Angelsong's babble page (under Friends of Babble) for lots of info on the game.

thanks much appreciated...

5:54 am

You're welcome.

5:58 am

Got to go. Be back later.

6:00 am

Bye, Haz!

6:03 am

7:53 am

You're telling me!! *Refresh* to see a pic of Sebastian :)

7:54 am

mikey, remember, that's what I mistook you for the other day. "mistook" that looks funny. funny to say too. lololol mistook mistook mistook

8:01 am

glad to see you back, kumquat :) nice small one to return to today -- only 116

8:02 am

no, nut, it's just early in the morning. once you tame that hair, you'll look normal again!!

8:02 am

gw - cute! smaller - you have no clue!

8:02 am

Careful, nut -- you don't want someone to use the monster fighting kit against you ;)

Smaller, it's the 5,12 above that one

8:03 am

oh there is a 33, sheryl, do you have another clue?

8:04 am

i'm monster kit immune! and i watched the other without bein scare at all!

for the non jewish girl word?

8:04 am

smaller used a wooooooooooooooord

for the 5,12 right above the Jewish girl one and sk5.20

8:05 am

8:06 am

i don't even know which one i used! does it still count? oh well, i'll eat a cookie anyway

8:07 am

sorry, Mikey -- sometimes miss a greeting due to hunting frenzy, chat frenzy, or other distractions -- it is never an intentional snub

8:08 am

got it! thanks for the clue, nut!

8:08 am

nut - they are oatmeal- choc chip, but you already said you were immune...

ja, GreyWoulf; i know.....i thought you'd missed my greeting and other things i'd said to you, somehow.....can happen just from doing the grid, too! :-P

8:08 am

it won't let me have the word sikh. is that cos it's a proper noun?

8:09 am

I saw and thanks, Mike

good, smaller; yes, yes yes.....eat a cookie.....instead of me, again! :-/

ja, kumquat; 'Sikh' would be considered a proper name, i'm pretty sure?

pronounced seek

well folks off to make breakfast, have a great day all and see you tomorrow

8:11 am

It's just the foibles of Enable, kumquat -- if it will accept words whose only def are that they are the name of a city, but not other legitmate words, you can't apply any logic to its parameters

ty smaller

8:12 am

8:12 am

oh sorry! I've never heard of it. but now i'm looking it up

8:12 am

i'm with smaller, never heard of it.

smaller; it's a member of an Eastern religious sect

Sikhs wear turbans, 'cos they can't cut their hair.....i'm sure you've seen them?

8:13 am

Congrats, Sheryl!! and I have to do the same thing -- breakfast that is :) I will be back later to finish -- I am at the exact halfway point :D Bye for now (*Hugs for all*)

8:14 am

funny, could have swore floo was a word, doesn't harry potter use floo powder?

8:15 am

thanks mikey! "hoom" should be a word. for hoom the bell tolls : )

oh brother, smaller :-P

8:15 am

lol@hoom i just tried floo but i think i was thinking of flue

*surprised i'm even still speaking to someone who gobbled me right up the other day* :-P

8:16 am

maybe encarta hasn't seen harry potter yet. ....b/c it's too busy putting stupid words in instead of real words

8:16 am

huh, well, i need a shower...i stink!

8:16 am

LOL mikey, you're uber noble

it's 'ueber', smaller.....unless one has an umlauted 'u', which you can't use in here, or it becomes gibberish! :-P

8:18 am

nut, i think you smell lovely. in fact, i'm thinking you smell like chocolate. ...you best run. fast. i'm hungry don't worry, mikey regenerated, you'll be fine

8:18 am

uber with : i know. what's ueber mean?

oh, hey; all of you who are on my yahoo and/or msn messenger contact lists were sent an invitation to join my new yahoo 'Literati Linkup' group.....so, why haven't you joined the rest of us there yet, hmm? :-/

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ Literati_Linkup/

8:19 am

oh sorry mikey, we americans streamlined it (ie slaughtered it) and took out the e. we're all for efficiency. like how we took out the "u"'s that across the ponders and canadians use

8:21 am

mikey, my brain can only handle a babble addiction. if i add more, i'd have to quit my job and showering and eating and i'd have to start wearing depends

it's 'ueber', kumquat.....and it actually means 'about', 'by', 'of', 'above', 'on', 'across', 'at', 'via', 'super', 'atop', or 'surplus', etc......depending on how/with what it's used! kind of a multipurpose word :-P

Hi Guys, still waiting on clues for sh5,12 above Non-Jewish girl and sk5,20 Thanks

8:22 am

ah ok. we just spell it uber and it's a great word.

8:22 am

thats me done

well then it's just not the same word, smaller; and wouldn't even be pronounced the same, 'cos you need eith the 'ue' or an umlauted 'u' for that pronunciation.....otherwise, it would be the same 'u' sound as in 'rubber'.....and that would sound funny! :-P

8:23 am

we pronounce it oober

8:23 am

rumple, just found the 5/20, like the northern dwellers that starts with an esk, but take off the e

well, that's not the way it's spelled, kumquat; so it isn't the same word! :-P

Good Day, Mikey et al...Another American getting in on the u(e)ber discussion. Don't we, gringos, use uber to generally mean 'all' or 'every'?

~~**FIREWORKS**~~ for Hannah Lou Could you help me with sh5,12 and sk5,20

ja; but it wouldn't be pronounced like that, without the correct spelling, kumquat.....why Americans like to misspell words from other languages, i'll never know? :-P

8:25 am

YAY for HANNAH!!! rumple, did you get my sk clue?

8:25 am

hey i'm not a yank!

8:26 am

oh kumquat, embrace your inner americanism. we'll take you. we're the borg

Smaller, thankx how about the sh5,12 just above the non-jewish girl

'alles' is 'all', Kenny.....and we have several words that can mean 'any', too.....'ueber' really doesn't, although it has several other meanings.....refer to my previous post a little furth down ;-)

8:27 am

rumple, i'm about ready to toss this laptop out the window over that one. rrggghhhh. don't have it yet. swear i've tried everything!

It's not that we like to, Mikey. It's that when people from other cultures came here, we heard them use certain words from their native tongues and thought they sounded cool. Sooner or later, they worked their way into our vernacular and we spelled them the way we would based on the sound in American English, not the way they were spelled originally. The upside is we created new words. The downside is we have Americans thinking they know words in foreign tongues when they don't. At least, I think that's what happened.

8:27 am

i'm in mikey's time zone.

I read it, Mikey; that's what actually got me interested because we don't use it quite that way. *S*

8:28 am

my time zone is the "twilight" zone..sigh. Morning all.

8:29 am

LOL hi lianakate!

SURELY SOMEONE OUT THERE HAS IT, SMALLER!!! We have to keep asking.

who don't, Kenny? 'cos we sure do, here.....

Americans, Mikey.

sorry, rumplestiltskin; but i don't think i do......then again, i haven't cracked open the list yet, either.....but will be doing that soon! :-P

8:31 am

ah, ok Kenny.....ja; that has already been determined :-P

hey, lianakate!!! :-D

8:31 am

lol, lianakate; ja.....but the odd game once in a while isn't impossible to squeeze in! ;-) i had a rousing 5-player game very early this morning, with some buddies (some from here) who have joined my Literati group on yahoo! :-)

yes, kumquat; you have to be a paid member for that.....which enables you to see/access other things, too

8:35 am

Kenny Chuck- isn't diplomacy difficult!!! we americans are so used to just stealing stuff. without a thought to where it came from.

8:35 am

ty arb and ty mik

Any help for SI7/32? Thanks in advance...

but it's very cheap, kumquat; only $9.95 USD for a lifetime membership.....can't really beat that! ;-)

8:36 am

I got a link from Literati something..and I didnt realize what it was!! Resend, if you would , Mikey!!

Slap with the fish, I had it in the wrong place. What I need is the second sh4,5 right above sword holder. Sorry

8:36 am

thank you ARB, I didn't see that other A in the bottom corner!

8:36 am

In reference to Mikey's post - American' "misspell" words becasue in the 1800s, there was a movement afoot to simplify the way words were spelled. They were successful with words like "honor" "color"etc., and I believe these spellings even got dragged through the courts. The American system embraced such spellings (like the ones I mentioned above) but not all words made it; for instance the spelling of tung (tongue) was not accepted. My rule of thumb for remembering the British spellings from the American spellings is that the Americans usually leave out a letter.

I disagree, Smaller. I think we know exactly where it came from, but we tend to ignore them and take the credit (or, rather, ABSORB the credit)!!

Good Morning everyone. Need a clue on mo6/24?

8:37 am

Kenny, ...and stealing would be so much easier if they would just be ok with it.

8:37 am

11:12 am

marymary had rumsfeld...

11:18 am

Hurshy, have to ask - why is it that you sometime talk in the 3rd person? Just curious.

11:18 am

i dunno, just for fun :)

11:18 am

Oh Ok :)

11:19 am

i have various humours

11:20 am

(didya see how i did the british spelling there didya didya??)

11:21 am

oops sorry missed that Hurshy.

11:21 am

you mean the corrsct spelling ;-)

11:22 am

since i love all things british, i'll let that one slide, even though it is not particularly logical

11:22 am

LOL, and British should be spelt with a capital if we are going to be so correct!!!

11:23 am

well if you notice, i don't tend to use caps at all unless for EMPHASIS or when referring to God or something

11:23 am

... anyway back to the grid - only got 9 words left to find.

11:23 am

Ah but Britain and God are on a par Hurshy

11:24 am

hmmmmm

11:24 am

but hey, corrsct is not correct either :)

11:27 am

any clues out there for the k's?

11:38 am

actually, the sh5/12 definition is the abode of the dead.

11:44 am

so, about the abode of the dead, what vowel follows the 'h', for those of us that aren't followers? lol

11:44 am

oops, went away... exwren - it is the vice president, dick cheney

11:45 am

hurshy's icon in the Vice President of the US. He's not a man you want to train biathlon with... :)

11:45 am

to explain about sh5/12 - the hebrews did not have our modern conception of heaven and hell, they just thought of there being one abode of the dead, so that is why hell is not the best definition

11:46 am

female + beginning of spanish bullfighting cheer

11:47 am

I've got the rest of the sh's. What are you missing?

12:55 pm

sh 6/33 is a non-jewish female

12:55 pm

the 5,12 right above it and the 6,24

12:55 pm

gwen, feather - left down - down - left - left

12:59 pm

12:59 pm

may we have a clue for the ha6/24 (first one)

12:59 pm

Finally got the sh6/33 too. Whew! The other sh5/12 is a biblical word, meaning abode of the dead.

12:59 pm

excellent, on my last one wait on the hint gwen, i think i can get it!

1:00 pm

musicmom -- getting ready for your expedition, I see!

1:00 pm

ha6/24: british spelling. Adjective related to blood.

1:00 pm

Yes --- we have the vans packed and the kids fed. We just need to finish this grid.

1:01 pm

Also, the ha6/24 builds on the ha4/6 above.

1:01 pm

okay, I acknowledge that you and BGL are more babbliholic than I... ;-)

1:02 pm

Yes we are. ARe the last two letters of the ha 6 vowels?

1:02 pm

ha 6 = 1st ha 4 + abbrev for southern state where city of birmingham is located

1:03 pm

is there REALLY a mh4?

1:04 pm

FINALLY got that last sh, thanks gwen! i was monkey typing till i was blue, had to resort to googling your clue. i'm all done now!

1:05 pm

yes missyem... builds off the h in the middle row...

1:05 pm

Congrats featherbee!

1:05 pm

YAY featherbee!

1:05 pm

did someone sit and make these words up just for us?????

1:05 pm

I've gone blank and blind... all I need are five four letter words, starting with either m or h. Help me pplease? ma4/5 the first one and me 4/5. I know they've got to be easy ones...

1:05 pm

Ren --- help/ We can't figure a double a so that we can abbreviate the state.

1:06 pm

lol, and on that note, looks like a good time for a nap, before my toddler wakes up! good luck gwen

1:06 pm

me4/5: beef

1:06 pm

sweet dreams, featherbee!

1:06 pm

thanks, stid! I was at my wit's end

good evening everyone :)

1:08 pm

ty gwenski, I swear I entered that one earlier.

1:08 pm

musicmom: the abbreviation for the birmingham state is the first two letters.

1:08 pm

so this morning the weather in Olympia is partly cloudy -- lots of sun, then clouds, then sun again. Not sure about further north, but I expect more of the same. A little breezy at times, too.

1:09 pm

we think we don't have the first ha4/6 we're looking.

1:09 pm

help please..ha6, 21

1:09 pm

mklein: funny, my last 8 words all start with h or m, too!

1:09 pm

the ha 6/24 I just got looks like a funny word meaning "blood like"

1:09 pm

thx for the weather report, I should actually be wrapping presents & getting ready to go, but I stopped by here and got SUCKED IN! 18 left, and I told myself I'd stop at 11 a.m. no matter what :s

1:09 pm

mm - 1st ha 4 = ha + **, myself, and i

1:10 pm

stid are you feeling better?

1:11 pm

where can I find the "year of themes"? I forgot

1:11 pm

thanks for asking. better, though annoyingly not 100% yet... took some tylenol as soon as I got up and that is helping. hoping to get outside later to at least look at my garden.

1:11 pm

No, the first ha4/6 ends with an anagram of **, myself, and I

1:11 pm

DING DING DING!!! We got it. Only 7 more words in an hour.

1:12 pm

Babbler's Anonymous has the list, not sure exactly where...

1:12 pm

go music/BGL go!

1:12 pm

stid, hope you can get outside, your lilacs are beautiful (based on yr photo from yesterday)

1:12 pm

I'm pretty sure Angelsong's page has a link to the themes.

1:13 pm

that's mostly why I want to go out -- to take a few more pics... before it's too late. I missed the trilliums this year. :-(

1:13 pm

I still cant get the "bloodike" clue stidmama?

1:14 pm

shirin, HI! in case you didn't get it yet, the ha your looking for is what angels have, but with a more british way of spelling the plural

1:15 pm

there is an ha 4 that looks like a misspelling of "blood" like the british spell it, plus the abbreviation for the state where B'ham is.

1:15 pm

thank you so much-got it now!

1:16 pm

missyem == thanks for that last clue to shirin. I swear I am still not completely "here" LOL

1:17 pm

I only need 17 more words, I am soooo excited!

1:17 pm

go shirin go!

1:17 pm

gwenski - I think I've got all the m's but the very first ma4/5. What are you missing?

1:17 pm

WHOOOT! We (BGL and I) are finished with this grid!!!! This is our last one for 6 days. (unless we find a wireless cafe). Have a great week everyone. Hugs and Kisses. US!

1:18 pm

That's also the last M I'm missing.

1:18 pm

for that ha6/24 there a double vowel after the h. That helped us.

1:18 pm

YAY musicmom and BGL! ENJOY yourselves (and don't worry about us... we'll survive somehow)!

1:19 pm

Daisy ma* (spell it with two vowels instead of the sometimes vowel).

1:19 pm

mklein: Just got it! Sounds like plural of next month. Scottish spelling.

1:19 pm

the first ma4/5 is Freddie ****, Sallie ****, etc. pl

1:20 pm

i am at 41 so far, list less, but soaking up clues as fast as I can! :-)

1:21 pm

woo hoo! got one of the sevens...

1:22 pm

w/ 16 to go, I bid you farewell. maybe I can get in to finish before 9pm at my mom's house tonight :) Take care, everyone

1:22 pm

done

1:22 pm

Missyem, have a lovely day -- enjoy the party!

1:22 pm

9 words to go...missing some L's, A's, H's and S's...all 4 and 5 letters. Probably a bunch of weird words...time to monkey type! LOL!

1:22 pm

YAY lbetterman!

1:23 pm

go Bash go!

1:24 pm

I knew it would be something like that. Ty all.

1:24 pm

With a little help, I'd have time for a quick afternoon nap. ha4/8? ha5/14 (first one)?

1:25 pm

I see there are two 'k' words... any hints?

1:25 pm

one kh sounds like what a dog would chase.

1:26 pm

just monkeytyped a kh...

1:26 pm

thanks gwenski, that's the one I found :-)

1:26 pm

The other kh appears to be an alternate spelling of a greek letter.

1:27 pm

thanks. working on it... *furrowed brows and all*

1:27 pm

ha5/14 Porter in arab countries; sounds like ha plus something bad in spanish.

1:27 pm

the other adds present tense third person of to be

1:27 pm

whew! got that other k, thanks.

1:28 pm

ha4/8=not whole

1:29 pm

Thank you, one and all. Now I have time for a nap!! Woo-Hoo!!!

1:30 pm

YAY gwenski!

1:30 pm

Just on can't stay long. Can anyone help me with the mo6

1:31 pm

candy -- a slang word for "money" lots of it!

1:31 pm

mo6 builds off of mo5. Add a consonant. (Then pluralise for the 7)

1:31 pm

starts like what a cow says, the plural makes a 7

1:31 pm

mo6= another spelling for money

1:32 pm

Candy two diff. spellings for same money term

1:32 pm

ha4/6 - the one after the laugh?

thanx everyone. I had the mo5 and didn't see the others. How thick am I??

1:34 pm

fo5, 16s - one is a type of folder, then change the last voewl to get the other...

1:34 pm

Artists carry their work in a portfo***. Change last vowel for other fo.

1:34 pm

it's the obvious ones that give us the hardest time, candy!

1:35 pm

think leaves on trees for the other fo

1:35 pm

got 'em, thanks

1:35 pm

ha 4/6 - more of an expression than a laugh

1:36 pm

how 'bout the he5,14s

1:36 pm

last he5/14: related to blood. American spelling, unlike the ha6/24 which is a british spelling.

1:37 pm

Do you have sh6/24? If so, remove the first letter for the other he5

1:38 pm

he5/14 another name for the moors of scotland

1:38 pm

first he 5/14 where sheep flocks graze in northern Germany and the erica plant grows....

1:39 pm

that erica-type plant is also a first name...think last name ledger...

1:40 pm

1:40 pm

I know, its my daughters first name!

1:41 pm

1:41 pm

1:42 pm

One left - ho4/6 arghhh!!

1:42 pm

YAY sha!

1:42 pm

thanks. I finally got the *****ledger one, but am still working of the other he.

1:42 pm

ho 4/6 : like the word for assist or aid but diff. vowel.

1:43 pm

1:43 pm

mklein -- do you need "assistance"? change the vowel to the round one...

1:43 pm

Good Day All, I'm on my last 2; clue please for last am4/5 and the sk5/20

1:43 pm

ho-4-6 a past tense of to aid

1:43 pm

hi chic! looking scaly this morning!

1:43 pm

shirin: if you have the ha6/24, lose a vowel for the he5

1:44 pm

sk5/20 sounds like someone who lives in a igloo.

1:45 pm

got it, thanks!

1:45 pm

do you have the am 4/5 that is french for friends?

1:45 pm

for the sk word think northpole inhabitants, drop the e

1:45 pm

Gila monster, lives in AZ and can kill you right quick... got the a so just the sk5...

1:46 pm

add a vowel 2 the sk 4-9

1:46 pm

thanx gwenski and inge!

1:46 pm

1:46 pm

YAY chic!

1:49 pm

1:50 pm

Is there a stats list somewhere? I'm missing an h - just one - and have no way to know if it's a 4 or 5 litter word. It's from the h in the third row, but there are 18 of those. Would love to see more stats if someone knows where they are. Thanks!

1:51 pm

bash, both Lickey and BJ give additional stats in their clue pages..

1:52 pm

sorry -- BJ is "Babbler's Anonymous" and both are in the Friends of Babble links...

1:53 pm

Missing one m (4th column) and one k --- anyone care to guess what they are? --- any weird ones I may have missed?

3:56 pm

hello abe

3:56 pm

sk5 - person who lives in an igloo, minus first letter.... (yet another bloody stupid word).

3:56 pm

hi abe79

3:57 pm

that is so cool, snowyowl -- I haven't been a girlscout (made it to cadette, but couldn't find a troop when I was in high school that I could attend) in over 20 years, but it was a good thing in my life when I was young.

3:57 pm

snowyowl - I'll get you tickets to the opening!!!!

3:57 pm

sorry nan i am working through the top of the grid

3:57 pm

both ks are weird -- one sounds like a feline, the other like a smooch

3:58 pm

cnan - mh4? both k's are kh, kh4 and kh5

3:58 pm

(hi abe)

3:58 pm

have the feline -- alphanumeric code for the other is?

3:58 pm

4:01 pm

Dachef - that would be great. CATHB has primed her ' ladies who lunch too! Is ther a Nandos in Bath - I am there next weekend

4:01 pm

I can't promise that, I'm afraid, hetty - I've finished the grid and will stay for a while!

4:01 pm

How many points in the mh4?

4:01 pm

6 points in the mh 4

4:01 pm

thanks LeslieAnn and Haz

4:01 pm

mh4/6

4:02 pm

4:04 pm

I know where now -TY Dachef -I will check it out next week.

4:05 pm

stidmama - last two l's are a li4 and a li5. Do you have the car? The other is li + shortened form of mother, and plural.

4:05 pm

4:05 pm

congrats cybernan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!! Gives a new meaning to listless!

4:05 pm

*groan* fish please! and thank you!

4:05 pm

ha 5/14: pork + Mr. Gore

4:06 pm

congrats cnan - I'll be joining you in the winners enclosure if I can get a clue for my last h5 - I have ha5x4 and ho5x1......

4:07 pm

Mr Gore?

4:07 pm

five ha 5's

4:07 pm

there are two he5s dachef

4:07 pm

mo - for a more British clue, think Mr Murray, pub landlord.

4:09 pm

help on the ho 5 please? still looking for all the ha 5

4:09 pm

sorry -- four ha 5's, two he 5's

4:09 pm

Mo - think ho plus a word that means bad in italian or spanish and leave off the end letter

4:10 pm

there are no ho5s stidmama

4:10 pm

cnan/snowyowl - Ive checked, and Ive only got one word left, and 4xha5 and 1xhe5. I think something somewhere might have gone horribly wrong....

4:10 pm

there is no ho 5 -- three ho 4's

4:10 pm

make that ha, Mo. Been at this too long.

4:10 pm

dachef -- two he 5's

4:11 pm

thanks nan! going listless has obvious disadvantages!

4:11 pm

you need one more he5/14 Dachef there are two with the same socre -I only have one of them but I got the list cos I started so late!

4:11 pm

dachef, do you have the candy bar he 5/14?

4:12 pm

one he 5 is the plant that grows on the moors (so i've been told)

4:12 pm

the other, take the ha 5/14 and change a to e

4:12 pm

the other he 5: he + "masculine" - e

4:12 pm

For one of the he5 , extract a vowel from the ha6/24

4:12 pm

LeslieAnn, we make a good team!

4:13 pm

ok, if anyone has a fish, I need it. Spent ages looking for the last word, and it was the bl**dy he5 - the one that means patch of ground. Anyways, done. No list for me!!! Whoo-hooo!!!!

4:13 pm

he 5/14: 1. where sheep graze in Scotland (on the he***) 2. referring to blood (bottom of a dress + Mr. Gore or Mr. Murray

4:13 pm

the first ho 4 is a garden tool. The second is an old word that means to aid - think about chaucer..

4:13 pm

Congrats Dachef!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4:13 pm

YAY Dachef!

4:14 pm

hooray dachef!

4:14 pm

Dachef - it was my last word as well - even though I had spotted it ages before.

4:14 pm

Way to go Dachef! -- so much more satisfying when you go listless!

4:14 pm

thanks for the ha 6 haz :)

4:14 pm

thanks everyone for your clues ... i got there eventually!!!!

4:15 pm

congrats mo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4:15 pm

4:18 pm

sh6,33?

4:19 pm

night Dachef - sweet dreams!

4:19 pm

of the a4s, I have ai; al; am x 3; at

4:19 pm

Hey, monster mashers. I'm back for more punishment. Like spending $100 plus at Home Depot wasn't painful enough!

4:19 pm

good night, Dachef!

4:19 pm

hi Judi! nice Animal!

4:19 pm

hey animal... i mean, judi

4:20 pm

Hi Judi! Did you buy something nice?

4:20 pm

there are 4 ams

4:21 pm

thanks, inge! looking...

4:21 pm

Yes, Snowy. I bought a lovely lawn cart to replace our hideously rusted old wheelbarrow. Alas, my husband proclaimed it "gay". (No offense to anyone, of course.)

4:21 pm

do you have the French word for friend?

4:22 pm

Judi, It is tradition to visit places like that on a bank holiday over here. Today was a really nice day here and I went to the local DIY store for plants & soil so often the man serving there thought I was stalking him

4:23 pm

the ams I have are friend (2 of those), nanny and its plural

4:23 pm

There's an ah4/6

4:23 pm

sh6,33 anybody?

4:24 pm

I think stalking is permitted after April 21st in most countries, Katie.

4:24 pm

sh + a swedish furniture store, change e to s

4:24 pm

that was it, haz! Thanks again...

4:24 pm

you need the fresh water fish: an+third vowel plus first vowel

4:24 pm

LOL Judi! It's not so bad spending lots of money when you get something nice out of it.

4:24 pm

Hi everyone, 6 left to find. Can anyone offer help with: ho4/5-not the thing to water your garden with ho4/6-the last one oh4/5 ol4/5 ta5/12 x 2-not what yu do with wild animals Thanks in advance!!

4:25 pm

oh 4 - a state, change last vowel to another vowel

4:25 pm

thanks inge -- I thought you had gone out - -are you just back again?

4:25 pm

ta5/12 - resembles the ha5 (pig joint and Mr Gore)

4:26 pm

no, I took a nap, dont want to drive the car with gas prices what they are.

4:26 pm

ho4/6 insert an l in what kangaroos do to get around

4:26 pm

also ta 5/12 - change last vowel of domesticating animals

4:26 pm

Snowy, I told hubby he may be mocking the cart now, but he'd be thanking me for it later.

4:26 pm

Another ta5/12 - replace the last vowel of the domesticating animal one with the third vowel.

4:26 pm

Thanks haz & leslie! 4 left

4:26 pm

boy do I hear that! am thinking of starting to ride my bike again, though it will be a while before I am strong enough to get into town with it!

4:27 pm

the first sh4,4 or maybe the second... not the pillowcase?

4:27 pm

Inge - how much is your gas?

4:27 pm

change the last letter of the pillowcase, cdn

4:27 pm

The last ho4/6 resembles another word 'to aid' but change the vowel

4:28 pm

there is an sh 4/4 that is rather vular for "pooped"

4:28 pm

my Passat requires premium gas, now it dropped to #2.95, was 3.05 past week

4:28 pm

sorry, "vular" should read *vulgar*

4:28 pm

He will too Judi! You just need to convince him how much easier his gardening will be now you've bought him a cart! LOL

4:29 pm

you were just so disgusted you couldn't type, right stid?

4:29 pm

thanks Leslie

4:29 pm

ol 4 - add two vowels, alt. spelling of butter

4:30 pm

That won't stop me from standing by with the digital camera the first time he uses the cart, so I can catch him doing something "gay" with it.

4:32 pm

Eva, did you get all your clues? I lost track.

4:32 pm

;-) Leslie, you know me too well!

4:32 pm

could someone help me with the 2nd he 5/14? i have mr. ledger.

4:32 pm

oh4?

4:33 pm

ummm... actually, though I know it's a joke, I have too many people I love who are gay for it to be funny...

4:33 pm

Hey - Nice eat you *um I mean nice to meet you all here once again <grin>

4:33 pm

Inge our gas (unleaded non premium) is 95.9p per litre, which equates to about $6.62 per gallon. It is begining to hurt :( When I went to Canada at Christmas I was facinated by the fact that the gas price changed during the day - I got obsessed with it.

4:33 pm

he 5/14 bottom of skirt plus Birmingham state

4:33 pm

oh my goodness katie, that's crazy

4:33 pm

faeriekae! Now that is a true monster! I had nightmares for weeks when that story first broke...

4:34 pm

thank you inge :)

4:34 pm

Hey Stid - ME TOO!!!

4:34 pm

Hi faeriekae

4:34 pm

hi cliffopa! Guess I'd better hide the cookies my mom and the boys made yesterday...

4:35 pm

I've just gotten home and sat down so please tell me is this doable or should I sit this one out?

4:35 pm

Hi ya Snowy :)

4:35 pm

Yes Katie, the Detroit newspaper published British gas prices this morning...to make us feel better I guess. Prices go down on Mo to Th, and up for the weekend. Sometimes they do change daily.

4:35 pm

it's quite doable, faerie... many have down w/out the list (but not me!) :)

4:35 pm

fairiekae, i just started too, it's doable, just takes a lot of concentration

4:35 pm

it's probably a lot easier WITH a list... I am down to 11, and just too stubborn to use the list now! LOL

4:36 pm

guess you'd better stidmama. since my son left i have no one to bake for (hubby doesn't like anything sweet 'cept me) can't bake a whole batch for myself now can i?

4:36 pm

It's OK Faerie - tho' I am using the list as I started late and have promised myself to get to bed before 2.30 this morning.

4:36 pm

well, you ARE the cookie monster....

4:36 pm

I've really enjoyed this grid but had to resort to the list with 20 to go.

4:36 pm

Hi Cliff, Leslie, Inge, Judi and Katie, cdn and Eva and whooooh did I miss anyone?

4:36 pm

hurshy to the rescue - let me play GWSIM, stidmama!

4:36 pm

si7 anyone? this is getting tedious!!!!

4:36 pm

*so mix a half batch -- and freeze half the dough before baking...* we have ways around that sort of dilemma!

4:37 pm

Of course, it is doable, Faeriekae, if you skip supper and chatting. You could do it in two hours. Go for it!!!

4:37 pm

Time to go. See you tomorrow.

4:37 pm

Hi hurshy

4:37 pm

hooray! I'll finish now, for sure! (but I need to run to the little girls room first...) BRB

4:37 pm

4:40 pm

Hi faeriekae

4:41 pm

Hi Hurshy didn't see you :)

4:41 pm

4:41 pm

The si word ends in upper right corner

4:41 pm

i totally agree faerie

4:41 pm

4:44 pm

i guess ho 4/6

4:44 pm

4:44 pm

there are 14 h 4

4:44 pm

will let you guess on the ms, I need another 7 of those!

4:45 pm

got that one pretty fast, hurshy! since it's what I ask for all the time LOL

4:45 pm

stid, the three i was refering to - the mo's have to do with money

4:45 pm

*hangs head* looks like I'll be dining alone tonight :(

4:46 pm

wait do you mean you got it fast with my clue or you had gotten it fast earlier today?

4:46 pm

yes, I got those also -- but thanks!

4:47 pm

sorry -- earlier today, when I looked around and you weren't there to h4 me out!

4:47 pm

22 left to get and I'm begining to see double!

4:47 pm

ok then i guess ha4, scottish pl word

4:48 pm

Ginger, that's because of your icon -- there really are two faces in it!

4:48 pm

mi 6?

4:48 pm

leslie, asking or guessing for stidmama?

4:49 pm

asking :)

4:49 pm

yep Hurshy! that was it! 10 points!

4:49 pm

mi 6/24 to point your weapon improperly

4:49 pm

oooh, stidmama gives twice as many points as i do... now everyone will want to play with you instead of me

4:49 pm

huh. thanks hurshy

4:50 pm

we get points?? ooh i wanna play

4:50 pm

thanks for the mi6... but I don't play GWSIM as often as you play GWHIM, so I think it'll even out. :-)

4:50 pm

ok on to m's? i will guess the one that rhymes with h you just got, i suppose.

4:51 pm

yep I had that one already.

4:51 pm

stid, do you have ma 5/14 - ma + a garden tool? (and plural)>?

4:51 pm

odd ma5/14 and 6/24 combo?

4:52 pm

phew stidma.... glad you told me that!

4:52 pm

LeslieAnn! 20 points! I didn't have either of them -- Hawaiian, I suppose

4:52 pm

mh 4/6?

4:52 pm

woooo i jump into the lead by a nose!

4:53 pm

4:53 pm

mo4 where you cut off the last letter of your 5?

4:53 pm

mh4... add a well known map abrieviation!

4:53 pm

do you have the ma 4/6 and plural that faerie's icon did?

4:54 pm

mi 4/5 combo, boy's name and pl, boy from phantom tollbooth

4:54 pm

hurshy -- 5 more points -- I had the four, but had forgotten to enter the 5!

4:55 pm

another mo4 that sounds like the guy who performs a bris?

4:55 pm

i still don't get that mh.

4:56 pm

mh + operating system abbr.

4:56 pm

that must be a British abbreviation on maps for the mh

4:56 pm

hurshy had the boy and plural, and the bris guy... LA working on your clue...

4:57 pm

thank u leslieann - that made it simple!

4:57 pm

stidmama - it means disfigure, leslie's.

4:57 pm

Now I understand, thanks, I am not looking for clues though, so I will think supper, maybe even cook something.

4:57 pm

stid, also, a subject in school ma 4, and a fabric me4?

4:57 pm

Leslie did you say there is a ma that is a plural of my name???

4:58 pm

no i said it's what your icon did

4:58 pm

leslie, we should stop with the m's, and just tell her the rest are ma or me 4's, and they are all easier, so she doesn't end up feeling fishy.

4:58 pm

LA, got your clue, 20 points! have the other two already...

4:58 pm

ok, want to give me sh 6/24 then? ;)

4:59 pm

ohhhhh thanks great clue :)

4:59 pm

4:59 pm

sh 6/24 where you keep your sword

4:59 pm

down to four words now -- one m, 3 s. looking much better!

4:59 pm

yummy :)

5:00 pm

what lengths remain, stidmama?

5:00 pm

one 5, three fours, hurshy!

5:01 pm

and what is your S box distribution?

5:01 pm

the mi 4/5 sounds like the tall thing a farmer might store grain in (si**) and the 5/12 is plural

5:02 pm

there was also a movie 'The Adventures of Mi** and Otis'

5:02 pm

one in the bottom row, the other two in the second

5:02 pm

that was a good movie, cliff :)

5:02 pm

5:06 pm

5:06 pm

for the sh or the si?

5:06 pm

what is the sh 5/12 right after the knife holder?

5:06 pm

cliff - that's the hebrew abode of the dead

5:06 pm

two left, and m and an s, both 4 letters...

5:06 pm

5:06 pm

5:08 pm

leslie, xylem and ph6

5:10 pm

Congrats Katie!!!!!

5:11 pm

ummm... xylem is not my forte

5:11 pm

I think ph 6 is the same as the gooey stuff that gets stuck in people's throat... ph + tall letter + a type of literature that often rhymes - p

5:11 pm

yay katie!

5:11 pm

Thanks Stidmama, I think it is just the sulks, he seemed to be able to eat his chocolate buttons just fine earlier :)

5:11 pm

rhymes with po4/6

5:11 pm

congrats Katie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5:12 pm

stid - you see my iranian ruler guess???

5:12 pm

and ph6 is not the same as phlegm

5:13 pm

missed it -- 20 points for you, one word to go (m)

5:13 pm

it helped me get it, though! stid i'm down to 2, just might give you a run for your mo 6

5:13 pm

stid, i will only tell you we guessed all the weird m's, so in order to preserve your dignity i will let you find the last one yourself - ma or me.

5:14 pm

okay... LeslieAnn, first one to the finish line buys the other a chocomochajavalatte!

5:14 pm

but, but, but... HURSHY! I don't want to be dignified! I want to be DONE!

5:14 pm

ooh, i don't even know what that is, but sounds yummy

5:15 pm

after you're done you'd wish you'd been dignified :)

5:15 pm

and now you're in a race, so to be fair i'd have to play GWLIM too...

5:16 pm

done!!

5:16 pm

lol

5:16 pm

but i used the list

5:16 pm

YAY LeslieAnn!

5:16 pm

CONGRATULATIONS LESLIE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5:16 pm

oh, pfft!

5:16 pm

that's alright it still counts.

5:16 pm

*pout* just because it's good for me doesn't mean I have to like it!

5:17 pm

stid owes me a chocomochajavalatte!

5:17 pm

but a race between a lister and a non lister is not a fair one

5:17 pm

yeah leslieann!

5:17 pm

if i'd a-known that i woulda told stid what word she needed

5:17 pm

po4 /6 the first one... anyone?

5:18 pm

i don't care, stid still owes me a chocmocalocanuttyboombattyjava -thing

5:18 pm

coming right up! will that be with whipped cream, maraschino cherries, almond slivers, chocolate shavings and cinnamon sprinkles?

5:18 pm

well of course it is when they agree to it. Right?

5:18 pm

the word you seek is hard to miss just take a peek it's just like th4

5:18 pm

all of the above, please

5:18 pm

i suppose if they both knew what they were getting into... :)

5:19 pm

that was for you ginger

5:19 pm

ginger - the 1st po is something that rhymes (sometimes)

5:19 pm

5:20 pm

no no ginger, it's not like the th4, i'm just not allowed to type the th4 cause it's a word

5:25 pm

Nrkii - Hi :)

5:25 pm

ginger, do you have what kangaroos do, and add an L in the middle?

5:25 pm

thanks leslieann!

5:25 pm

I have that. my last m is from the one in the fourth column, fourth row.

5:26 pm

a carnivore prefers my taste so give him more but do not waste

5:26 pm

At least that was what faeriekae's icon thought! I have that already, too.

5:27 pm

but then, we've gone through ALL the m 4's, stid!

5:27 pm

Hurshy your on a roll this evening. Very clever :)

5:27 pm

stid do you have ma4 - ma + vowel + plural?

5:28 pm

ty faerie :)

5:28 pm

Hurshy, I've come back and there you are changed again! Your icon realy are creative and humorous--among the many things I admire about you.

5:28 pm

5:29 pm

Hi Hetty :)

5:29 pm

FOUL, stidmama, leslie guessed the other ME4 earlier and you said you had it.

5:30 pm

Hi Faeryie, hi Stid--is your list of what you are seeking, or what you have found?

5:31 pm

huh? i come back from laundry and what's going on ? is stid done yet?

5:32 pm

no, stid has misled us :)

5:32 pm

2 me 4's, stid - what a carnivore eats, and me** material, like what bball shorts are made of

5:32 pm

Leslie - Thank you, thank you....I forgot I put a load of laundry in when I got home. brb

5:32 pm

mi6 /24 anyone?

5:33 pm

mi 6/24 to point your weapon improperly

5:33 pm

ginger, to point your gun in the wrong direction

5:33 pm

I DID NOT MISLED US! the stupiddumb server didn't enter the stupiddumb word! It took me four more tries just now! But you are right Hurshy... LeslieAnn did give me the clue earlier, and I asserted I had it, because it was there last night...

5:34 pm

btw, the histrionics were artificial, just like most of the me 4 our family consumes...

5:34 pm

um, girls let's just put this all behind us. congrats, congrats stid!!

5:34 pm

OHHHHHHHHHHHHH poor stidmama!!!! congrats though!!!

5:34 pm

ty

5:35 pm

sooo... 1000 points each to Hurshy and LeslieAnn! I am finished.

5:35 pm

yay!

5:35 pm

Stid - I've been having the EXACT same problem - the server doesn't want to accept words that are there just like the me** word that I also typed about 3 or 4 times before it accepted it.

5:36 pm

&~&~&~&~& CONGRATULATIONS STID &~&~&~&

5:36 pm

now tell everyone how good it feels to BE LISTLESS

5:36 pm

well, *sob, gasp, choke* at least it isn't picking only on me... one of the drawbacks to running a successful and popular game, I suspect, eh, Dr. God?

5:36 pm

yeah it's done that to me too stidmama :(

5:37 pm

I am so happily listless! But tomorrow, I take it easy on myself. This took me waaaay longer than I like to spend online. :-)

5:38 pm

{{{ stidmama }}} You did it...That is awesome. Now go get one of those awesome chocomochojavalatte's and celebrate!!

5:38 pm

yeah stidmama

5:38 pm

5:38 pm

good idea! *perks right up* back in a few....

5:39 pm

was that your first time going listless? anyway now that stidmama is done i am going to get some dinner

5:39 pm

hurshy, shall I get one for you as well? I really would have resorted to the list without your encouragement...

5:40 pm

ohh.... i don't drink coffee... i'll take a cocoa?

5:40 pm

no, but the other time it was only 60 words or so... :-) have a good dinner, see you later!

5:46 pm

great thanks :-)

5:46 pm

evening, all.

5:47 pm

hi Charm! how was your weekend?

5:47 pm

let me see what I'm missing the last sh5 /12

5:48 pm

Hey, stidmama. Visited the old homestead. pooped! Have you a clue for the SH6/33?

5:48 pm

last sh 5/12: shallow waters, hazards to boats, often associated with reefs I believe... sh + round vowel + two letters of a man's first name

5:49 pm

sh 6/33: man's razor - c + abbreviation for south america

5:50 pm

Thanks, stidmama! I may have to learn hebrew if I'm to play this game. lol

5:51 pm

hebrew, greek, latin, french, spanish, german, hawaiian...

5:52 pm

I'm missing the middle sh5/12, the one between the 2 sh6's. . .?

5:52 pm

pig latin

5:52 pm

yes, those hawaiian words to like to sneak up on us. I was soooo sure haole was in today's grid!

5:53 pm

another hebrew word, this one for the afterlife, often referred to in English as h -e double hockey sticks...

5:53 pm

hmm maybe I've marked wrong... is that fishy too??

5:53 pm

sh5/12 - abode of the dead in the bible.

5:55 pm

I'm back Hi Charm :)

5:56 pm

faeriekae! how are you?

5:56 pm

I am missing the very last ma 4/6 please. I got lost in all those clues. Sorry.

5:56 pm

sh4 /5 ... I have footwear

5:56 pm

Charm I'm fine and yourself?

5:57 pm

ma 4/6: what Hurshy teaches!

5:57 pm

no complaints!

5:57 pm

thanks Stid :)

5:57 pm

sh4/5 past tense of the poopie word, sh4/5 stadium in Queens, home of the Mets

5:57 pm

27 wrds to go.....

5:58 pm

sh 4/5: one is past tense of to "poop" one is used to make a "butter" popular in skin preparations

5:59 pm

go faeriekae, go!

5:59 pm

ty

5:59 pm

:)

6:00 pm

Hi faeriekae

6:00 pm

Charm, I have that one love, it's come up before (funny how so many words do that!) what I need is the sh5/12 (not 14)

6:00 pm

{{{Scatty}}} Hi!!!

6:00 pm

the first sh4 /6

6:01 pm

thought i'd pop in to see who was about

6:01 pm

there are two sh 5/12: both end in the tall letter with two vowels between...

6:01 pm

hi scatty!

6:02 pm

i've run out of space in the greenhouse and there are still loads of plants to seperate, i potted 340 marigolds today, not sure what i'm going to do with them all

6:02 pm

Hi stid

6:03 pm

what is the word count today?

6:04 pm

oh, I wish I were closer so I could see your garden and greenhouse! I like marigolds -- both the calendula and the tagetes from Mexico. Which are you growing?

6:04 pm

Scatty - I want to come over and play in your greenhouse....and I would take marigolds home with me. You must have one heck of a greenhouse. Mine is not quite that large. lol

6:04 pm

116 words today.

6:04 pm

116 words - 1140 points

6:04 pm

ty stidmama

6:05 pm

i don't have a greenhouse yet, but have a bunch of windows from a friend's remodel, just waiting for us to the have the mo 5,6,7 so we can build it!

6:05 pm

Hi Krausbrew :)

6:06 pm

thanks Stid :) excellent clue there.

6:07 pm

how many words? how many 7's, 8's etc. please? I just started.

6:07 pm

its 8ft by 6ft, i have two old wooden shelves that go about three quarters of the way down and a bought one that has four shelves at the end and on the opp side i have a grew bag for toms to grow, but at the moment i've run out of space as its too cold to leave anything out

6:08 pm

xena, use Lickety's list, there is a link to it on the right of the page. He gives good stats as well as word counts...

6:08 pm

Hi, Stid. I have both sh5's ending in stick. What I'm looking for is the sh5 12 (one of the two you mention is sh5/14, according to lickety's list

6:08 pm

yes, I put a bougainvillea out a little early. pretty sure it will recover, but it's not happy with me right now!

6:09 pm

Scatty mine is actually indoors in my basement under lights. I have marigolds and castor beans and poppies in it right now. They are getting close to being ready to go outdoors. I just has to warm up here a little more also.

6:09 pm

i was lucky, a friend moved onto a narrow boat and sold it to me for £20 last year, my hubby thought it was a good idea at the time but he's having second thoughts now as this time of year i'm always out there and moaning that it isn't big enough

6:10 pm

no hetty, I am pretty sure both of them are 5/12. the sh 5/14 I have is related to a guilty feeling for having done something wrong.

6:11 pm

hi faeriekae!

6:11 pm

castor beans? I never considered growing them -- are they for pretty or purpose?

6:11 pm

se4 /5 and se5 /12... next to each other

6:12 pm

LOL Scatty - good for you...I'd love to have an actual greenhouse. Someday I hope to. I did get my arbor built last year that I had been wanting forever and I just love it. I have honeysuckle growing all over it. I planted 3 diffrent varities.

6:12 pm

s'ok, got them now!

6:12 pm

anyone got a clue for sh6,33?

6:12 pm

faeriekae, is it warm enough in the cellar, i thought it would be too cold, i have a little parafin heater on every night at the moment, we need some sun

6:12 pm

so close... 4 h's to go and I think I have them mismarked grrrrr

6:12 pm

se 4/5: "part;" the se 5 is the plural, in the US we call large trucks that carry cargo se 5...

6:13 pm

the h's were tough today. Let me know what kind of help you desire...

6:13 pm

Stid - Castor Beans are beautiful....They like lots and lots of water and I've had mine get up to 12' tall and 6' around and the leave huge and they are beautiful and they do have a pretty bloom in the late summer just before they seed and then I always save the seeds for the coming year.

6:14 pm

stid, i put some sunflowers out the other day and left them out over night and a SNAIL had a midnight feast

6:14 pm

my mother in law gave us a lovely arbor a couple years ago that I have two tea camellias under and then hang baskets later in the year. I want to build another, so I have something my new clematis plants can enjoy!

6:14 pm

i have never heard of caster beans

6:15 pm

the first ha4 /5

6:15 pm

Scatty I've got 3 200 watt bulbs and a small heater all under a large clear plastic tarp and it works fantastic. But you are right we need lots of sunlight and warm nights.

6:15 pm

And once again, Stid, you have put your finger on the right place. I blush for you-know-what. Man ythanks

6:15 pm

yuck. snails. There is a product in the US called "sluggo" which is little pellets that contain iron... they are pet and child and bird safe, but the mollusks eat them and then crawl away to be compost for other plants...

6:16 pm

first ha4 /9

6:16 pm

ha 4/5: very much like a garden implement (the ho 4...)

6:16 pm

Scatty - you should google the castor bean it is a fantastic plant really.

6:16 pm

stidmama: thanks for the advice.

6:16 pm

ha 4/9: ha + dot vowel + tall spiky letter

hello everybody! : )

6:17 pm

Hi TO :)

6:17 pm

did that help, xena? I usually make use of either Lickety or the list on Babbler's Anonymous.

6:17 pm

TempleOwl! are you feeling any better?

6:18 pm

cheers stid, i will have to look for it, i bought some slug stuff last year and it didn't make any difference, when it gets dusk, you can see all the slugs come out to play, there are black lines everywhere

yes, thank you. stidmama! just in time to return to wwork : (

6:19 pm

faeriekae, i have some zennias, pansys and loads and loads of toms as wel if you want some

6:19 pm

TO - sorry to hear you've been feeling poorly :(

6:20 pm

well, don't fear -- another weekend is on the way... eventually! LOL

6:20 pm

I'm having trouble finding the sk 5-letter word. Can someone give a hint?

6:21 pm

stidmama: I've been playing babble for a long time and never use anything but clues that people are willing to give or finding the words on my own. I'm pretty computer illiterate. That's why my scores are so low I guess.

6:21 pm

Scatty - you bet I want them. I love Zinnas, Pansys and Toms...Wish I could dash right over and get them and I would bring you some castor beans :)

6:21 pm

zinnias! scatty -- that's what i've been forgetting to start! bless you, bless you! I have seeds, (somewhere) just need to get them plunked into the trays and started in the bathroom... that's all I ever use the "garden tub" for!

6:21 pm

Hi Jon

6:21 pm

Great, I'm done and without the hint! A couple of really obscure words today.

6:22 pm

xena, today I was "listless" too -- very frustrating, because a couple of words didn't "take" the first few times I entered them in! couldn't figure out which things I was missing.

6:22 pm

YAY krausbrew!

6:22 pm

2 h4's and 2 h5's and I can't see them!!

6:22 pm

Congratulations Krausbrew !!!!!

6:22 pm

brb

6:23 pm

Oh, I got it by trial and error, but don't know what it means.

6:23 pm

Stid's gotta go pee *teehee*

6:23 pm

ty faeriekae. I won't have much of a garden this year, we are in a severe drought.

6:24 pm

Kraus where are you?

6:24 pm

Santa Fe

6:25 pm

I just tried to enter pansy as a word ROFL and there are no "pa" words.

6:25 pm

6:26 pm

Kraus - Sorry to hear that. My flowers are my summer. I love working in the gardens and cutting fresh bouquets and I even like pulling weeds LOL Maybe you'll get some rain here before long.

6:26 pm

6:26 pm

si7/32 Think kitty cat

6:27 pm

Kraus, we have a hose pipe ban already, this country never gets its act together, its been like this for years, we get the rain, well not this year but last year we had loads of floods but we still had a hose pipe ban

ah, ty, pip...i often think kitty cat - as you can see in my icon - LOL!

6:28 pm

I hope so, they've closed the forests because of fire danger. I might be able to manage some culinary herbs.

6:29 pm

does anyone know how to grow lobelias, i have tried this year with disasterous results, they poke their heads through the soil then die on me, i have tried caring for them, ignoring them, what do i do wrong

6:30 pm

Scatty - I've never heard of them...

6:30 pm

We've been on Stage 2 restrictions for the past 2 years now going into our third. Can't water between the hours of 10 am and 6 pm. No car washing, no washing driveways or patios, etc.

6:31 pm

they are quite weedy flowers that go into hanging baskets with really small flowers, all colours, they make the display

6:31 pm

Kraus - there is a burning ban here in my part of the state of Michigan but We had tons and tons of snow this winter so the ground is just dry on top. I would hate not being able to water my gardens :(

6:32 pm

I'll google to see what they look like sounds pretty.

6:33 pm

hi Ginger, the ha 5/14 both start with pig product common in breakfasts and sandwiches, one ends with am man's nickname, the other secondvowel-plural letter

6:33 pm

ciao tutti!

6:33 pm

not that much snow in michigan this winter - not even in da yoop

6:33 pm

why can you wash your car after a certain time, do you have to use buckets of water or are you allowed to use the ose after 6pm

6:34 pm

were your lobelia "damping off"? they don't like to be too wet in my experience... also maybe just not warm enough yet for them?

6:34 pm

ciao krausbrew! see you tomorrow?

6:35 pm

Bigherb - Well in my opinion it was tons because even 1 single snow flake is too much for me. I HATE SNOW. So where in the UP are you?

7:25 pm

**Stid*** Yesterday was good. Seth, Liv and I played some video games together, then we went to his mother's house for dinner. Today we cancelled all our plans and just hung out with the three of us since today was my last day of maternity leave. (eek!) Mom is still in hosp, as far as I know. I've been in radio silence since yesterday (long story), but I trust that I would have been called if anything changed.

7:25 pm

oh gosh that was too obvious. im all bleary eyed. thanks scatty.

7:26 pm

YAY fig!

7:26 pm

(bow. bow. humble humble). between boggle and ebay i'm luck i see the light of day. queries, anyone?

7:26 pm

all done fig

7:27 pm

Congratulations, Fig!

7:27 pm

congrats fig!

7:27 pm

okay, I'm a struggling first-timer. How many words are in this puzzle?

7:28 pm

back to work already?!? wow, how time flies! I will miss your frequent presence here... but so happy things are going well for you all. I suppose you'll still babble when you have time and energy?

7:28 pm

116 herb. youcan access statistics if you pay, or use the links to the right, babblers' anon is a good resource!

7:28 pm

116 words, 1140 points

7:28 pm

there are 116 words today, herb.

7:28 pm

welcome bigherb

7:28 pm

okay, gotta do dishes. i'll check back in later. peace ya'll.

7:29 pm

later, fig!

7:29 pm

bye fig, see you tomorrow

7:30 pm

bye fig

7:30 pm

i am tired of the dark icon... going to go change. brb

7:31 pm

Yes, back to work, already. Time went by too fast! I'll babble as much as I can, as long as tomorrow's puzzle is good, I'll play tomorrow, since I don't work until 6pm. As I work nights in general, I'll mostly be around at flips to see what the puzzle is like. :-)

7:32 pm

alrighty then. thanx. that helps. cept I've got a long way to go.

7:33 pm

bigherb, shouldn't take too long ... plenty of clues in the chat log too.

7:34 pm

ahhh, that's better. will work on tomorrow's icon now while I chat... refresh if you want, it's a leaf again.

7:35 pm

nice and bight stid, that woke me up

7:36 pm

hey stidmama did you know it changes all the way back in the log? btw what was the other one?

7:36 pm

not sure what the other one was -- some sort of spectre of death, I think, grim reaper scythe and all!

7:37 pm

knut, i nearly always miss the flip, i try to stay up, but rarely make it

7:37 pm

you are right this is much lighter

7:37 pm

scatty, considering where you are, you might do better to wake up for the flip instead of staying up for it! LOL

7:38 pm

I'm a night gal, so I'm almost always up until 1am (central time, as I live in IL). Luckily when I go back to work (tomorrow!), I'm working the evening shifts, so I'll be getting home right around the flip. I'll be stopping in whenever I can if I do the puzzle throughout the days, though.

7:39 pm

and not sleeping at the keyboard either scatty

7:40 pm

i try going to bed early but when hibby comes to bed he always manages to wake me up, bumps into the bed, has the hall light shining in my face, then my back starts hurting because i have been laying in one position too long, vicious circle

7:40 pm

that's convenient, knutmeg! I'm more of a morning person, but staying up later has become a habit so that I can spend time with Tom in the evenings after the boys go to sleep.

7:41 pm

jeffer, i only fell asleep once playing babble and it was 5am

7:41 pm

sorry to be random, i'm down to my last ha's can anyone offer assistance?

7:41 pm

yes abe

7:42 pm

abe, happy to help! what do you need?

7:42 pm

ha 6/24 ...please (and thank you).

7:42 pm

abe which ha

7:43 pm

Please help me too. there are 3 ha4's I just can't find, and one ha5

7:43 pm

totally convenient, for me. However, my husband is also a night person, and he has to work 4am-noon shift, so we don't have to afford a babysitter. Poor guy hates that shift. And going to bed at 6pm. His life is going much rougher with me at work, cuz he'll have to be on baby duty.

7:43 pm

beaz - ha6 - ha+2nd vowel+letter before n+1st vowel+letter before m

7:43 pm

thanks jeffer and stidmama- the first ha 4/6 ...ha 6/21 and ha 5/14 (not the one that rhymes with a popular boys name)

7:43 pm

ha 6/24: ha + auntie ** (from the wizard of oz) + ** Gore

7:43 pm

thanks to hetty too . and i LOVE your icon

7:44 pm

ha 4/6 take the last two letters of the 6/24

7:44 pm

thanks all! ...got it.

7:44 pm

hetty, do you have the laughter ones (ha twice)

7:45 pm

the other ha 5/14 is like the ha 6/24, remove the e

7:45 pm

hety - ha+3rd vowel+letter after j, also a snake for the ha 5

7:46 pm

the ha 5/14 after the angel thingys is based on the very first ha 4/6 + first vowel and a consonant

7:47 pm

stidmama you clue with ease ...

7:47 pm

oh poor Seth! He'll do fine, eventually! LOL and it's not for ever, just until she's a little older. I always tell myself I can do anything for x amount of time... and so far, I've been right.

7:47 pm

Scatty, I hve the ha that rhymes witn "name"( both spellings thereof), the archaic term for "has", the thing saints wear above their heads (plus plural), and the laughter (with a plural form which replaces the last vowels with a snake) What else is there?

7:47 pm

jeffer, you don't see the rust flying as the wheels turn! LOL

7:48 pm

i need to clean this keyboard, the keys are sticking, i think my son was eating icecream while on msn today, will have to have words about eating while playing on here

7:48 pm

ok, down to ha 6/21 and al 5/14

7:48 pm

hetty -- ha + dot vowel + tall spiky consonant

7:48 pm

oh -- and the plural, hetty! :-)

7:49 pm

ha 6/21: plural what angels wear...

7:49 pm

hetty - ha+letter before n+2nd vowel

7:49 pm

al 5/14: we type using the al5/14 bet

7:50 pm

oh duh, i can't believe i missed al 5/14. thanks so much stidmama, jeffer , scatty - i can stop ignoring my company now!

7:51 pm

YAY abe!

7:51 pm

hetty, do you have the ha+same letters again plus ha+ letter after g+snake

7:52 pm

hetty, ha= not a whole, cut it in two to make a ha

7:52 pm

Yeah, I do feel bad for Seth... to a point. Then I remember I am finishing up 6 weeks of 24/7 baby duty complete with lack of sleep and all the other fun. Luckily for both of us, She is regularly sleeping 5-7 hours at night, and as long as we leave the lights low, she'll go back to sleep for another 3-4 hours after a feeding when she does wake up. I believe Seth will survive the trials okay. (Sorry for delayed responses, working on the puzzle)

7:54 pm

goodnight to all!

7:54 pm

scatty, thanks--I have that (rhymes with "name"); also its other spelling, so thanks, both the lovely clue-givers who helped mefind the ha with the dot letter after a. What a word. And I have the laughing ones. So I have one more to go and then I'LL be laughing. But dinner calls, so later--by and thanks again

7:55 pm

later abe, see you hetty!

7:55 pm

hetty, ha +crossed letter+ letter after g

7:55 pm

bye Hetty

7:56 pm

scatty -- depending on what type of keyboard you have... we put ours in the dishwasher to clean. Just be sure it's completely dry before you plug it back in!

7:57 pm

stid, that would be a bit differcult at the mo, i could put it in the dishwasher, but its in the garden shed at the mo (no room in the kitchen) so it would be a long time before it cleaned its self

7:58 pm

oh that's funny! :-D scatty -- the other way is to give it a shower...

7:59 pm

please....need a clue to the sk 5/20....I can't seem to monkey type the right one...! Thanks!

8:00 pm

well, speaking of dinner, hetty and I are in the same time zone. I am going to head out for a while -- jeffer, you hold down the clue-giving for a bit, okay? scatty (motherly tone) don't stay up too late! LOL

8:01 pm

beaz - who lives in an igloo, miss the first letter

8:01 pm

see you tomorrow stid, i hope its not too long

8:01 pm

TY SCATTY!!! Brillant!

8:02 pm

i'll be a good girl and go to bed in a mo

8:03 pm

I meant *BRILLIANT*....

8:04 pm

jeffer, i missed twenty words last night, was too tired to finish after being at a 70/80 disco (what a laugh), and you gained 3 extra points than me, i've been three behind you for ages now, i think you are about 10 infront now

8:06 pm

Okay, I give in. Can someone clue me in on sh6/33?

8:06 pm

jeffer, i have just realised stid is six years younger than me

8:07 pm

sh + the world we live in minus the r

8:08 pm

I've got that one, Scatty, its the 6/24, I need the other sh6

8:09 pm

sorry knut wrong one sh+3rd vowel+letter after j+snake+1st letter

8:09 pm

THANK YOU! Wow, that one totally eluded me.

8:10 pm

i don't know what it means though

8:11 pm

sh 6/33 - the first four letters sound like a brand of disposable shaver - c + the abbreviation for Saturday.

8:15 pm

got it, but thanks beazus. :-)

8:18 pm

jeffer are you still around

8:19 pm

woot! done!

8:19 pm

YW Knutmeg...how about a little help for the sh 5/12 please?

8:20 pm

sh+ fourth vowel + boy name, two letters long.

8:20 pm

beezus - it's where the shallow water is

8:20 pm

sh+2nd vowel+4th vowel+letter before m (sh5/12)

8:21 pm

right, i'm off to bed, its nearly 2-30, any more clues needed

8:21 pm

8:30 pm

YAY beazus!

8:31 pm

Hi Stid didn't realize you were still here :)

8:31 pm

good night scatty, sweet dreams

8:31 pm

Thanks, Stid. :-) Well folks, I'm off to play with my baby, I'll see y'all at the flip!

8:32 pm

Congrats KNUT!!! Have a good evening :)

8:32 pm

{{{***Liv***}}} ((later knutmeg))

8:33 pm

just got back, actually! my eyes are not quite ready to joust with full light conditions, so I came back to my dark room. :-(

8:33 pm

fortunately, dinner will be easy tonight, got the beets into the water to boil and the rest has to wait for that anyway!

8:34 pm

So Stid your not seeing well right now??? How about having dinner with me???

8:35 pm

faeriekae -- is that what the castor beans are really for?!?

8:35 pm

LOL

8:35 pm

how many words do you still need, and do you want help with any of them?

8:37 pm

Stid - Really you should try growing them they make beautiful plants just put them in a place where kids won't be around them. I've got my little Shih-Tzu and he really doesn't bother them at all. So I don't really think you'd have to worry too much about your pets either.

8:37 pm

I need 4 more words and yes please....the first ta 5/12

8:38 pm

I know -- at 11 and 13 the boys would be fine with them, and we rarely have very young children here anyway. I am thinking of making a speciman garden in one corner of the yard where I put things that are absolutely not edible... just in case.

8:39 pm

ta 5/12: Mexican food, wrapped in corn husks and steamed. not tacos, but .... (just the first five letters)

8:39 pm

Hi everyone, Got called away for dinner before, but still have 3 left to find and would love any help I can get: ho4/5, not the garden water thing ol4/4 ta5/12-not what someone does with wild animals

8:39 pm

Hi Eva :)

8:39 pm

ho 4/5: anagram of the garden water thing

8:40 pm

ol 4/4: a brand of olive oi* think of oi* backwards and add in the round vowel again...

8:40 pm

ta 5/12 I just gave a clue to faeriekae

8:41 pm

oh and hi again Eva!

8:42 pm

ty got it :)

8:42 pm

thanks stidmama! Can't believe I missed that ho!

8:43 pm

easy to miss ho's around here! LOL

8:43 pm

Good evening :) time to get the other half I didn't get this AM

8:43 pm

ROFL thats a good one Stid

8:43 pm

Woulf! is that *our* Sebastian looking cute? or a baby pic of you? ;-)

8:44 pm

Hi GW :)

8:44 pm

I have the abbreviated mexican food ta5/12. And the wild animal one. Isn't there another ta5/12 or am I missing something else?

8:44 pm

yes, sorry one other ta 5/12 change out the e in the wild animal one for another vowel

8:45 pm

Hi faerikae!

8:45 pm

That is the babe himself, stidmama :) Happy and cute as a button! I don't have any baby pics of myself :\

8:46 pm

He is adorable GW - You must really be proud :)

8:46 pm

he's adorable (as I expected he would be)! I think he and Liv make a cute couple! LOL matchmaker, matchmaker, make me a match....

8:46 pm

Hi Eva how ya doing this evening?

8:46 pm

That did it stid!! Short and sweet. You sorted out all my confusion in less than 5 minutes!

8:47 pm

oh, I'm just so GOOOOOD! *giggle* yw

8:47 pm

I am, faerie -- now if only I could get him to burp on a consistent basis I would be ecstatic as well

8:47 pm

And finished.

8:47 pm

so -- are you, like, done?

8:47 pm

YAY faeriekae!

8:47 pm

Eva are your finished???

8:49 pm

Doing pretty well-a gorgeous evening, lots of stars, frogs doing their orgy thing at the top of their lungs, Merp lying curled up on my bed, his belly filled with nice raw chicken, mine filled with chicken marsala, and Bach on the radio. Not in any physical pain at the moment, for which I am always deeply, deeply grateful. Who could ask for more? How are you doing?

8:49 pm

do you burp him in the middle of feedings as well as at the end? if he tends to suck a lot of air, getting it up in smaller amounts my be the key.

8:49 pm

LOL GW - Baby burp up is not nice on your clothers is it.

8:49 pm

yes,I'm done. Did it in 3 chunks today.

8:50 pm

hope all are great around the world , have a great day , or night every one

8:50 pm

Eva, it sounds like a heavenly evening! what fun.

8:50 pm

YAY Eva!

8:50 pm

stid -- we have tried all the various permutations of feeding and burping -- he just doesn't like to give them up

8:50 pm

meljames are you coming or going?

8:50 pm

CONGRATULATIONS EVA !!!!!! WHOOT WHOOT WHOOT

8:51 pm

one of my boys needed to burp a lot, the other didn't. kids are funny that way. :-)

8:51 pm

Thanks for the cheering squad. If anyone needs any clues I'll be around for a little while.

8:51 pm

the nice thing is he doesn't spit up except minimal bits, so I consider myself to be very lucky indeed

8:51 pm

Mel James are you also finished?

8:52 pm

faeri-who is your picture of?

8:52 pm

Jeffery Dahmer

8:53 pm

Okay....was the theme today about unusual diets or something?(-:

8:53 pm

Sound be Jeffrey Dahmer the serial eater...

8:53 pm

LOL Eva -- monsters... but I got tired of mine, and changed.

8:54 pm

Hummmm I think todays theme is monsters and I thought he was the scariest monster I could possilby come up with.

8:54 pm

well goodnite all-too late to do any more-one of these days or night i`ll get them all-ta ta and good luck

8:54 pm

if i fade in and out it's because i'm blogging while I chat... I try to keep it updated once a week, though I usually fail. Just not very disciplined!

8:55 pm

Hi everyone.

8:55 pm

Good night Majmom - sweet dreams :)

8:55 pm

good night majmom! see you tomorrow!

8:55 pm

Hi Snowy148 :)

8:55 pm

hi snowy.

8:55 pm

stidmama -- I have a live journal account with exactly 2 entries in it from over a year ago -- so I think I have you beat1 ;D

8:56 pm

Hello snowy :)

8:56 pm

I'm going to call it a night myself. I'm tired so I'm going to take Max for a walk and then hit the shower then off to bed.

8:57 pm

Everyone have a good night and sleep well :)

8:57 pm

How old is your baby Grey?

8:57 pm

sleep well and dream deep, faerie :)

8:57 pm

good night faeriekae! sleep well and dream of pretty flowers and happy plants.

8:57 pm

good night and thanks again stidmama!

8:57 pm

hi snowy148

8:57 pm

he is 3 months, snowy :)

8:58 pm

sorry-meant to say faeri-

8:58 pm

LOL our icons do look a lot alike at the moment don't they? *grin*

8:59 pm

Hes beautiful. When burping if he is stubborn, try rubbing his back in circular motions and then pat. It may help.

8:59 pm

think it's time for me to turn in too. Going to try to paint the bedrooms tomorrow, so need my energy.

9:00 pm

thanks for the advice snowy -- we have tried everything -- he is my second and I think he is just like his daddy -- stubborn when someone tries to tell him what he should do ;)

9:01 pm

Rest well, Eva :)

9:01 pm

Lol. Sounds like my daughter when she was a baby. Taurus the bull and she lives up to it.

9:01 pm

hi GW, haven't seen you in awhile. it's so hard to believe it's been 3 months already since he was born!!

9:02 pm

Good night Eva -- don't overdo the painting! take breaks frequently and stretch... (painted several of our rooms in the last two years). And work top to bottom so you catch drips on the way down! :-)

9:03 pm

Has anyone in here ever played word yacht? Or wordox?

9:03 pm

no, never have. what are they like?

9:03 pm

Hey hurshy!!!! I know, but I am glad that they are over -- he is beginning to smile and interact with us instead of being a lump that cries occasionally :)

9:04 pm

that is good :)

9:04 pm

Word yacht is like yahtzee only with letters. You have several categories such as 3 and 4 letter words, or a straight which is one 3 a 4 , 5 6 7. You also have starter where you made 15 words all starting with the same letter.

9:04 pm

Hullo, I'm back. With 2 requests, actually, but also with lol to GreyWoulf and Faeriekae, if she's still there, and Eva (I* love Bach too) and my dear buddy Stidmama. I have just two words to find:a po4 and one of those awful ha 4's to boot. Any hints?

9:05 pm

don't know either of those, snowy Hurshy, how have you been? One of the last times I saw you, you were a bit, shall we say, dark teatime of the soulish?

9:06 pm

hetty - since it sounds like you are using the list, can you tell us the point values and where they fall (1st ha4/5, or whatever)?

9:07 pm

i'm better now GW - the zoloft seems to be helping. in fact yesterday mab was worried that i was getting manic! - but i told her it was only online that i was so very high-spirited, not in the real world.

9:07 pm

In wordox, you steal points from your opponent. Its very interesting and can be fast or slow paced. They are both good games.

9:07 pm

po 4s are: "little ditty"; game played on horseback with mallets; to hold a position, "strike a po**"; very fancy, think Po** Spice of the singing group

9:07 pm

Good to hear, hurshy :)

9:08 pm

those sound like good games, ones my kids would enjoy as well! I will have to look for them.

9:08 pm

thanks, GW... you, and others, have helped a lot.

9:10 pm

snowy -- I actually had a word yahtzee set when I was growing up --- wordox is a new one to me :) hursh -- as I have said before -- I am always here for a friend :) -- btw, which messenger(s) do you use, if any?

9:10 pm

hurshy -- glad you came back. you're better at playing GWH*2IM than I am!

9:10 pm

just AIM, the firewall blocks the others.

9:11 pm

lol stidmama

9:12 pm

can I get it w/o being a subscriber? Sometimes having the privacy can be a benefit

9:12 pm

Here is the link. If you get an account there (its free) they will send an email and there is a link to click, They give you a passowrd. It is best to copy and paste the password or it can be tricky. http://hoylegames.sierra.com/i ndex.jsp

9:13 pm

yes, GW, it is a free download

9:13 pm

snowy and hursh -- then I will look into it this week :)

9:13 pm

but i don't particularly object to people knowing i'm on meds, if that's what you're worried about :)

9:15 pm

that's not it, hursh -- sometimes chatting is easier w/o the confusion of multiple threads -- not to mention less distracting for those who may be trying to get clues

9:15 pm

meds are good! I take fluoxetine for the panic attacks and social anxiety/phobias, and it really helps me cope. You are NOT alone hurshy! I have even been able to spend a half hour a week volunteering in the boys' school recently... it feels good to feel good!

9:16 pm

well, i just saw you were here, GW, and wanted to say hi...i'm pretty tired, was up late last night...so i'm going to be off again to head to bed. thanks stidmama :)

9:17 pm

Thanks, hurshy, I am glad you did-- you gave me a warm fuzzy :)

9:18 pm

:) night all!

9:18 pm

good night hurshy! sleep well, and thanks so much for all your help and hand-holding today!

9:18 pm

yw stidmama :)

9:19 pm

stidmama -- often I feel like the odd man out these days -- I have no major medical conditions, I am on no meds of any sort, I have had no major surgical procedures -- I am so healthy it is scary at times :D

9:20 pm

sleep well hurshy and dream deep :)

9:23 pm

Well, Ive been summoned to sierra. Take care all and if you are ever at word yacht lookk me up and I'll show you the ropes. I'm snowy149 there and I'm always in singles and pairs room 1. Have a great night.

9:24 pm

My cat is objecting to the fact that I am brushing crumbs from my banana bread off of her back :D

9:24 pm

good night snowy148! thanks!

9:24 pm

so long snowy -- will do!

9:25 pm

It's the first po4, the one worth 6 points (I have the name of the literary form.) The ha's are less easily isolated. POint values in parenthesis. I have, thanks largely to you, Stid, the term for dividing into 2 equal parts(8), the aura of the saint (5), the laughter (6) and its apparent plural (both 6) , the term for a Japanese poem --minus its last letter--(9), the archaic form of "has"( 6), the greeting (5) , the homonym for "name"--meaning birthplace--in two spellings, one decidedly SCots looking (both 6) and another Scots-lookng term rhyming with "ye banks and *****" (5) Now while you are trying to digest all that I'll reflect on turning it into a poem of my own a la Hurshy

9:25 pm

YW. Night.

9:25 pm

ooh, poor kitty! LOL Woulf, I wanted to respond to your "odd man out" comment, but don't know quite what to say except I am glad you are well and compassionate to those of us who aren't!

9:26 pm

stid -- I don't think it is worthy of comment -- I just needed to get it off my chest and that was a convenient opening :)

9:27 pm

especially since I don't know if the motivation was envy or pride ;D

9:28 pm

hetty! try the thing angels wear on their heads!

9:29 pm

oh -- you have that, never mind. If you have ten ha 4 total, then you have all of them. Do you need a 5 or 6? have you tried plurals?

9:30 pm

help with the sh 5/12 (1st) and 6/24? Oh, and hi!

9:33 pm

sh 6/24: what you put a blade *(knife or sword) into

9:34 pm

ah, thanks

9:34 pm

sh5 -- "the abode of the dead in the Bible."

9:34 pm

starts with female pronoun

9:34 pm

sh 5/12 #1: Hebrew word for he double hockey sticks... sh + two vowels + stick letter// there is another 5/12 almost exactly the same

9:35 pm

gotta go work on dinner again. the beets are ready to peel. BBL

9:35 pm

ciao for now, stidmama :)

9:36 pm

More blushes. I've just gone over my list for the umpteenth time and what I'm missing isn't "ha" at all--it's an "ma/5" and point value is 14--not the one that means to injure for life. Oh how debilitating this all is. But I refuse to give up when only 2 words remain. Stubborn, as my mom used to say

9:37 pm

thanks, got the 5 & 6

9:39 pm

If Stid is peeling beets, will someone else please help me out? I need an ma5 and a po4. Ta.

9:39 pm

yw, wassup hetty, wish I could help but I only have about half of the m's currently

9:40 pm

Hiya Hetty - ma5/14 = ma + garden tool.

9:41 pm

Hey Jac!! -- how have you been lady?

9:42 pm

Hi Wolfie. Fine, thanks. Had a lovely birthday. The icon theme today is 'monsters'. Has Seb been one lately??

9:42 pm

Hetty - re the po4. Can you be more specific? There are a few...

9:43 pm

any hints for HA 6/24 and 5/20?

9:43 pm

Nope -- just needed to share the recent pic -- I sent some to swmbo to update the announcement page, but she's been busy this weekend it looks like :)

9:43 pm

Well bless you, Jac, and thank you, Greywoulf. Maybe I can help you, once I have this blasted po4 put to bed.

9:44 pm

Wolfie - Glad to hear it (that's Seb's not been a monster, I mean). You can e-mail the pics to me, if you like and have time.

9:44 pm

mi 6/24

9:44 pm

I barely pay attention to the themes lately -- barely have enough to play, let alone, icon shop

9:44 pm

also need HA 5/14, second to last one

9:46 pm

Bluegirl - Sorry, bleugirl, ha6/24 means 'of or relating to the blood or blood vessels '. Add Mr. Bundy from 'Married With Chidlren' TV series to the ha4 above it.

9:46 pm

wassup - you have to point at the target

9:47 pm

ha5/20, bleugirl, is the plural of the ha 4 above it.

9:47 pm

thank you. good clue!

9:47 pm

2nd to last ha5/14 - a Muslim porter.

9:48 pm

Wolfie - I know what you mean, A young family is very time-consuming. How's the job going?

9:48 pm

bleugirl, your first ha begins like the Latin term for blood and ends with a suffix like a man's nickname (think Gore)Then your second is exactly the same except for dropping the second vowel.

9:49 pm

should be made perm any day now :)

9:49 pm

Hetty - Have you managed to pin down which po4 you need yet?

9:49 pm

Wolfie - That's good news. You must've impressed them then.

9:49 pm

ok. it's getting late. I'm happy with 100 on my first visit here. Maybe I'll come back and play again sometime. Thanx all for the help.

9:50 pm

or else they are that desperate! ;D

9:51 pm

Jac, yup; it's not the literary form and it's not the game and it's not what a poseur does.

9:52 pm

Hetty - po4/6 - The nickname Victoria Beckham of The Spice Girls was known by. Po** Spice.

9:52 pm

hetty--is it the type of lifestyle that the leisure class might have?

9:53 pm

thanks everyone. now i need MI 6/24. I think someone else asked but I didn't see the answer.

9:53 pm

Failing that, Hetty, it means smart and fashionable, maybe even a bit stuck-up.

9:54 pm

mi6/24 - to point your gun the wrong way.

9:54 pm

thx. didn't even know that was a word.

9:54 pm

Wolfie! I'm sure it was your reliability, honesty and expertise that swung it.

9:55 pm

bleugirl, if you decide to shoot someone and your shot goes astray it' smaybe because of this--a failure ton take correct ***

9:55 pm

PH 6/27??

9:55 pm

Hetty - have you found that po4 now?

9:56 pm

LOL -- stop it, my sides are hurting too much Jac ;D

9:57 pm

ma4/9?

9:57 pm

Bleugirl - the ph word means - The food-conducting tissue of vascular plants, consisting of sieve tubes, fibers, parenchyma, and sclereids. Also called bast. It's like a rhyming po4 but with and 'h' and another consonant added after the p.

9:58 pm

oh dear. You are all so helpful and I'm so helpless. My granddaughters all know the names of the Spice Girls (but for them I wouldn't even know what they did to add spice to lfe) but alas they are all far way. As for snobby etc. ---oopsIT'S JUST COME TO ME. Yahoo! How **** we all are! Thanks all.

9:58 pm

Wolfie - Don't laugh too loud, you'll disturb everyone here. They're all asleep bar me. (I think my daughter's still awake, but she is at least in bed.)

9:59 pm

Jacula, I slept through that part of science class. A little less technical???

10:00 pm

Wolfie - ma4/9 - what you might wear over your eyes or face to disguise yourself at a ball (or in doing a robbery).

10:00 pm

Oh and Happy B-day Jac :)

10:00 pm

Bloody Heck!! I saw it and thought sure I had already entered it!!!

10:00 pm

Wolfie - thanks.:-)) Twas last Sunday, as you know. I'm 49 + 7 days now!:-(

10:01 pm

i am almost done. got to go do homework and housework. I still need PH 6/27 SH 6/33 SI 7/32 SK 5/20

10:01 pm

Hetty - You did it! Well done!

10:02 pm

4 red ticks! I'm so happy! Now I have ten more minutes before I turn into a pumpkin so I'll be glad to help anyone. Only my typing is slow ( I have a steadfast companion called Arthur Itis)

10:02 pm

bleugirl - when someone gives you an actual definition you can Google it and usually get the answer.

10:03 pm

{{{{{GreyWoulf, Jacula, hetty}}}}} Group Hug! Hi, everyone!

10:03 pm

sh6/33 - A non_Jewish woman. Anagram of 'has ski'.

10:03 pm

No time for googling love. Got to work quickly tonite. I got the SI 7. duh!!

10:04 pm

(((**JB**)))

10:04 pm

Leftover icon from Star Trek day, no time to look for a monster cat!

10:04 pm

sk5/20 - add a round vowel to the end of the sk4 before it.

10:04 pm

Congrats, Woulfie, on almost perm!

10:05 pm

Hi, JBs. How've you been?

10:05 pm

Happy Bday -7, Jac!

10:05 pm

Thanks, JBs.:-)

10:06 pm

Busy! There was a great cartoon in the Parade magazine section of the newspaper. It's a bee answering the phone: "I'm busy." Definitely hit my funny bone! I'm going to take it to work and enlarge it for my desk sign this week.

10:08 pm

I've got 29 words left, and have to be in bed by 12:30, no later, that gives me 1.20 to: feed the cats, get my papers together, take a shower, download some mp3's (figured out how to play 'em on my Palm Pilot, YAY!, tunes for the bus ride tomorrow), and start the dishwasher. Oh yeah, and 29 words!

10:09 pm

bleugirl: ph6 requires a stick followed by a fourth vowel followed by a second vowel followed by an upside-down "w"; sh6 is what Jewish parents sometimes call the non-Jewish girl their son brings home; sl7 is a species of feline--we had one once--adorable and so smart and if you could only hear me I am singing from Disney "We are ****** if you please; s5 is the sk4 above plus a fourth vowel

10:10 pm

Our newspapers this week have been full of the news about Labour's John Prescott's affair with his diary secretary. He is not what you call a small man nor a pin-up. The cartoon that amused me this week was of an old couple looking out onto their drive where a young woman lay completely flattened. The speech bubble went something like, 'Quick, Mavis! Call an ambulance. She's either been run over by a steamroller or had a fling with John Prescott.' Not sure quite why it tickled me, but it did!

10:11 pm

al5/14?

10:12 pm

<applause> Lovely song, hetty! Thanks for the memories (we had a Disney album, it was a 33.5 speed for the turntable) - my sister and I used to sing that together!

10:12 pm

al5/14 - 1st letter of the Greek alphabet.;-)

10:12 pm

YAY hetty! just read back in the log a little ways...

10:12 pm

Woulfie - you surely are an al*** male?

10:12 pm

33.5?? LP's used to be 33 and a third.

10:12 pm

and I am done!!

10:13 pm

*~*~*~*~FIREWORKS FOR WOLFIE*~*~*~*~

10:13 pm

YAY GreyWoulf! ***Seb*** (cause we know he helped)

10:13 pm

thanks all. I am done. goo'nite!

10:13 pm

What can I say - my memory isn't what it used to be! 33 and a 1/3 - that's right.

10:13 pm

JB - I am a tired male as well!!

10:14 pm

help please? ha 6/24? (2nd ha word)

10:14 pm

Sympathies, GW - and I don't have kids! oops, gotta go for now, BBL hopefully!

10:14 pm

Yep! Seb gets the proper words and Wolfie does the monkey typing! *Jac ducks Wolfie's flying slipper.*

10:14 pm

Happy Birthday Jacula How fast the years fly by May many more attack-ula With Joyful, Wond'rous Times!

10:15 pm

Wassup--add Mr. Gore's first name to the Latin for "blood"

10:15 pm

LOL, Stidmama. Thanks.x

10:15 pm

No slipper, Jac -- Kristianna stole them to play with -- 'sides I am too tired to aim properly

10:16 pm

Yeah, he's probably mi 6 and hit me instead! LOL

10:16 pm

. . .or to the first ha word above it!

10:16 pm

Wolfie - I am reprieved then. You go and get some rest.x

10:16 pm

JB, sorry I missed you, see you later or tomorrow!

10:17 pm

ok, got it. now anyone with the ha 4/6 (next to the laughing one)?

10:17 pm

I am going to do just that Jac -- Good night all!! (*Hugs for all*)

10:17 pm

Nope, Stid. Kristianna chucked a slipper when she heard me taking the Mick out of her Daddy and she's hit some poor bloke in Australia.

10:18 pm

'Night Wolfie.x

10:19 pm

Monkeyed it. I'm DONE!!!!!

10:19 pm

ha4/6 below the laughing one - If you finally find a word you might exclaim, 'Ha*!' This word is the plural of that.

10:20 pm

Well done, Wassup.

10:20 pm

Anyone else need any clues before I amble off?

10:21 pm

goodnight!

10:25 pm

YAY wassup!

10:25 pm

Goodnight, Wassup.

10:25 pm

good night, Woulf, Sebastian, Kristianna!

10:27 pm

I wonder if Lickety will recover enough from Kristianna's missile to get our next set of clues up? Oh dear, the far-ranging repercussions of simple acts!

10:28 pm

bleugirl2! I am sorry I missed your finishing... YAY for you!

10:36 pm

LOL, Stid.:D

10:38 pm

anyone else need help?

10:40 pm

hi everyone - think i have enough time to start & finish by the time the puzzle closes?

10:40 pm

Jacula -- were you in on the discussion of Marmite yesterday? I know Sherb registered as NOT liking it (I think it's pretty good) Is there anything to do with it besides put in on toast and as a base for soup?

10:40 pm

Yes helenkeller, though it took me half a day and LOTS of help to do it listless, so I don't recommend that approach! LOL

10:42 pm

lol stid - ok, won't follow your example (at first) we'll see how far i get though

10:42 pm

i'll be here(ish) pipe up when you want help!

10:43 pm

thx stid - very good to know!!

10:43 pm

Stid - No, I wasn't in the Marmite discussion yesterday. I can register as a Marmite lover though. My boyfriend hates that stuff! Won't let me anywhere near him if I've eaten it just before trying to kiss him. LOL. You can add it to hot water for a drink, too.

10:44 pm

k - i know i ought to be working on the grid, but i must ask: what the heck is this marmite?

10:45 pm

UGH - I used to adore Bovril, but then they took the beef out! Its all yeast now, same as Marmite. But co-op do one called Beefy and that makes a decent drink.

10:45 pm

THanks. Will try that tomorrow for lunch!

10:45 pm

ooh, just arrived, love Marmite! Hi all!

10:47 pm

I probably would have liked the beefy stuff too granadan, but I am unfortunately really allergic to all things "cow"...

10:47 pm

Helen - Marmite is a yeast extract. Black, gooey, and you only need a tiny, tiny scrape of it for the taste. Any more and it's way too much.

10:48 pm

hk is prevented from fully concentrating on grid as she is wondering what the heck people are talking about?

10:48 pm

hello kristinc! Did you have a lovely day?

10:49 pm

finally - thx jacula - i've never heard of it - there is something my parents used in cooking but i only know the polish word for it - but it sounds like what you're talking about - however, i don't recall a brand name

10:50 pm

Hello stid and friends! We did have a lovely day but lots of work outside so we're pooped--trying to get affairs in order so we can have a low-key summer (if there is such a thing). And you?

10:50 pm

Helen - Probably 'Bovril', 'Oxo' or 'Marmite'.

10:51 pm

ah -oxo sounds vaguely familiar

10:53 pm

very quiet, lovely day also! Tom mowed the lawn, I babbled, the boys had spent the night at a friends, so we didn't get up too early anyway.

10:54 pm

Good for you Stid. How old are your boys btw?

10:54 pm

11 and 13....

10:55 pm

then you must be a very busy lady ;)

10:56 pm

ok, based on stid's advice, i'm calling up the list with 84

10:56 pm

sometimes, but better than when they were little and needed me every minute of every day!

10:57 pm

helen you are much faster than I am! :-)

10:57 pm

huh - that makes 32 to go, that sounds do-able (knocking on wood)

10:57 pm

yes, that's do- able.

10:58 pm

stid - i played tangleword yesterday - first time in quite a while (because of ahhhh, babble) & was pretty rusty at first, but towards end, found my groove again :)

11:00 pm

Jc's now singing 'Knock on Wood' to herself thanks to Helen!

11:01 pm

lol - you gotta - knock, knock - knock on wood - uh, thanks alot jacula

11:03 pm

You started it, Helen! LOL.

11:05 pm

Okay, Helen, are you going to do the 32 or so you need on your own or do you want clues?

11:06 pm

at least it got 'kung-fu fighting' outta my head - went to my friend's daughter's ice show today & they very littlest kids wore karate-type outfits & 'skated' to that song and some other oriental sounding stuff - it was beyond cute! :))))

11:09 pm

Grr! Kung-Fu Fighting is now going to be going through my head for a while. Helen - May I suggest that you listen to 'Patches' by Clarence Carter. It's the most irritating song of the 70's. Sentimental, self-indulgent, and NOT what you want to listen to when your Mum bursts into your room at 7.10am and switches your radio on to get you up for school. I still hate that song and I still hate Tony Blackburn for ever playing it! LOL.

11:09 pm

thx jacula - i'm at 97 now, so that's 19 more, nope no need to panic yet (and besides, i have a towel)

11:10 pm

ha 6/21 or ha 5/14 (first one)? Okay, now I have kung fu fighting in my head helen! :)

11:10 pm

ooooh -- not panicking, just reaching for another pan-galactic gargle-blaster...

11:10 pm

Helen - is the towel for your forehead or to sit on? LOL.

11:11 pm

hello all!

11:11 pm

awww jacula - funny you mention that, i just heard 'patches' a few weeks ago after not hearing it for quite literally decades, how does that NOT tug at your heartstring --- patches, i'm depending on you son ....

11:11 pm

I'm almost finished...one more word to go.

11:11 pm

ha 6/21: what angels (plural) wear on their heads.

11:11 pm

ha6/21 - an alternative plural for the Angels' bright head circles.

11:12 pm

go bendamalina!

11:12 pm

argh! dumb unusual plurals!

11:12 pm

ha 5/14: a type of pork product ha* + ** Gore

11:13 pm

Helen! I'm warning you... if you sing any more of the crap song... I will beat you up. Normally, I am a peaceful person, but...

11:13 pm

LOL stidmama - i just read your 11:10

11:13 pm

rockabye baby, on the tree top when the wind blows, the cradle will rock when the bough breaks the cradle will fall and down will come baaaaaaaaby... cradle -- and all!

11:14 pm

*there there Jacula* helen, did you know Jacula is OLD today?

11:15 pm

AW, thanks Stid. Mind you, I've always thought that if babies understood that rhyme, they'd panic!

11:15 pm

i think that was the point originally! ;-)

11:16 pm

I'm beginning to think this word doesn't exist! darn you babble....

11:16 pm

Stid! My birthday was LAST Sunday (April 22nd) so I am 'old' + 7 days. Waddya mean, OLD? GRR!

11:16 pm

that's why you always find towels very near to babies :)

11:16 pm

old +7 days...heh

11:17 pm

a very merry unbirthday to you, Jacula

11:17 pm

and a very happy birthday to you jacula

11:17 pm

Lol, Helen!

11:17 pm

oh -- I thought your birthday was today!!!! in that case, you're decidely youthful! *grin*

11:18 pm

Thank you Benadmalina. Another Pooh fan, I imagine?

11:18 pm

I always thought that was from Alice in Wonderland

11:19 pm

i must have my disney mixed up

11:19 pm

Stid, may I very politely and respectfully suggest, that you shurrup and clue Helen in on her last few words. Oh, the cheekiness of those a decade below! LOL.

11:20 pm

yes, oh great one! Helen, can you get my foot out of my mouth again?

11:20 pm

Bend - No, you are correct. It'a me that's wrong about he unbirthdays.

11:20 pm

Its from Alice in Wonderland. Happy late birthday Jacula!

11:21 pm

okay, babble, you've got me. I am going to have to ask these kind people for a clue.... anyone have a clue for mi6/24? I'm stumped

11:21 pm

Thank you, Kristinc.

11:22 pm

mi 6/24: my barb about age was mi 6/24'd... to point in the wrong direction!

11:22 pm

mi6/24 - it happens when you point your gun or hose, or something else you want to hit something with, in thr wrong place.

11:22 pm

benda-- if it makes you feel any better, I am not sure that's a PROPER word!

11:23 pm

ah-HA Got it! Thanks.... which means...... DWEEEEEEEEEEET! I am finished! WHIRRRRRRRRLLLL

11:24 pm

yeah Benda!

11:24 pm

Yeah well, I could make quite a list of not-quite-proper babble words.

11:24 pm

YAY bendamalina!

11:24 pm

WELL DONE, BENDAMALINA.

11:25 pm

I'm still not quite sure why the si7/32 was allowed.

11:26 pm

That DISable dictionary sure is confusing!

11:26 pm

I didn't know it could be NOT capitalized, but I guess that's the case...

11:26 pm

*dances a little jig* Okay, anyone need a clue? I'm very good at giving oblique hints...

11:26 pm

sorry, don't mean to be ignoring the chat, just concentrating on finishing - 6 to go

11:27 pm

go helen go!

11:27 pm

maybe because it's a kind of cat, jacula

11:27 pm

Benda - I think the only one here not finished yet is HelenK.

11:28 pm

ma 5/14 and 6/24? (sorry if they're easy...I still have 34 to go--not nearly as quick as hk)

11:28 pm

bendamalina -- where are you? Jac's in the UK, Kristinc and I are on the West Coast of the Us...

11:28 pm

east coast of US

11:29 pm

ma 5/14: hawaiian, it sounds like "my long-handled garden tool" -- ma + ho 4 is the ma 6...

11:29 pm

Hello again!

11:29 pm

Benda - it being a kind of cat would still capitalise the word. This is the definition that allows it: Of or being a Y-shaped dual connection between two pipes or hoses and a larger pipe or hose.

11:29 pm

then it's pretty late for you, too! there are a lot of night owls who babble!

11:30 pm

hi Knut! Argh! Thanks for the clue...that's even a typical babble word...I'm so dumb!

11:30 pm

((knutmeg! ))

11:30 pm

*passing salmon pate' to Kristinc*

11:30 pm

Hi Knut. Baby got you up?

11:30 pm

ma 6/24....goldilocks would've thought this garden tool wasn't *quite* right

11:31 pm

I really MUST learn to memorise the time diffs over the world. I've been on the Net long enough to do so.

11:31 pm

Nope, Baby is actually sleeping peacefully. I'm a night owl, I work until 11:30pm tomorrow night so I need to make sure my internal clock is set right, and I haven't missed a flip in many many weeks, so why stop now? *grin*

11:33 pm

speaking of those night owls... :-)

11:33 pm

I had coffee earlier...heh. which explains today. other days, i dunno...sometimes i stay up late, and sometimes I can't keep my eyes open past 10. Anyways...this is a gripping puzzle of words, of course I'm still awake to see the final conclusion.

11:33 pm

Knut - Hello, fellow Night Owl.

11:34 pm

and i'm done --- thanks for all the support :)

11:34 pm

Benda - I do that, too. 3 night up, 1 night somehwere in between, and 3 nights early.

11:35 pm

oh -- I get it now, Jac-ula can't stand the touch of sunlight! Up all night in the dark..... do you have mirrors in your home? *anxious look*

11:35 pm

Oh, just saw Jacula's comment...I was second-to-last to finish! I think that's almost like being in reverse second place.... *dances another jig*

11:35 pm

hooray helenkeller!

11:35 pm

Well done, Helen, Hope you enjoyed it.

11:35 pm

YAY helenkeller!

11:35 pm

Congratulations, helenkeller!! Jacula--you are obviously a tried and true night owl if you're up and function at 7:30 in the morning. :-)

11:36 pm

congratulations helenk!

11:36 pm

*whispers-not quite done yet...15 to go :)* Bedamalina--not sure if we've met yet, nice to meet you. Babble is grand eh?

11:36 pm

ty - now, why don't all the grids go this quickly --- it's the pressure of the deadline, i think

11:37 pm

I can't stay up late and get up early... but if I go to bed early enough (by 9), I can be up and fully awake at 5!

11:37 pm

go kristinc go!

11:37 pm

Stid - lots of mirrors in my house, and, guess what... I can see myself in them. Not that I always want to...

11:38 pm

Sure is, kristinc! I must admit, I don't do the puzzle every day, though, which is probably why we havne't met

11:38 pm

Jacula, I am glad you have a good sense of humor! :-D

11:38 pm

Kristinc - quick! What do you need?

11:39 pm

I apologize, these could be obvious but... sh 5/12 (first one) and sh 6/33 to start

11:40 pm

sh5/12 - the abode of the dead in the Bible.

11:40 pm

sh6/24 is a covering for a daggar or sword

11:40 pm

sh 6/33: sh + expression of yuckiness - c + abbreviation for south america; means a goyisha woman in yiddish, I think.

11:40 pm

anagram of 'holes'.

11:40 pm

sh 6/33 = brand of razor minus the 'c' + abbr. for brazil's continent

11:40 pm

ehehehe...never mind, i read it wrong. apparently it's getting late for me

11:41 pm

I learned in college the art of functioning on a few hours of sleep. The key for me: 1 night a week I need 8 hours straight, and at least 30 minutes of shut eye every afternoon. Works like a charm. :-)

11:41 pm

got em...thanks don't say the 6/33 five times fast! :)

11:41 pm

LOL, Kristinc! WELL DONE!

11:42 pm

I'm probably running slow from that blasted kung fu fighting song in my head :) ph 6/27?

11:42 pm

Knut - same here, sort of.

11:43 pm

Who the bloody hell brought that damned Carl Douglas song up again??

11:43 pm

ph 6: ph + lo 4 (substitute an e for the second o)

11:43 pm

ph6/27 ....xylem and ph****, parts of a plant

11:43 pm

Whomever it was does not deserve a clue to the ph word!

11:43 pm

oooh...that would be me--it's stuck in my head and taking zapping my babble-strength :)

11:43 pm

ph 6/27 = ph + 2 letter opp. of 'high' + auntie ** from wizard of oz

11:43 pm

it was not I, dear Jacula! (don't even know what it is...)

11:44 pm

ph word - Pat Has Lots Of Extra Muffins.

11:44 pm

Jac-stid's just sucking up from her earlier comments :)

11:44 pm

you got it kristinc, do you think it will work? ;-)

11:45 pm

now, focus! what else do you need?

11:45 pm

everyone...try running Jackson 5 ABC123 through your head, it works for me every time to drive out other songs, and usually dissipates rather quickly

11:45 pm

i love 'abc'

11:45 pm

Jac-hysterical clue, perfect this late...thanks!

11:46 pm

shake it, shake it, baby, 1 - 2 - 3, baby, you & me

11:47 pm

GRR! You girls are looking for a roasting! I'm sticking my headphones on and I'm going to listen to Black Sabbath singing 'tell me, people, aaam I going insane? Insaaaaaaaaaaane?' LOL.

11:47 pm

although, i rather like the-song-whose-title-i-will-no t-mention-that-everone-else-se ems-to-be-annoyed-with, so maybe you shouldn't take my advice.

11:48 pm

uh jacula, we thought the answer to that would have been quite clear, lol

11:48 pm

hehe heh hehehehe

11:49 pm

which one is that bend? and is it their hands or their feet that are 'fast as lightning' ?

11:49 pm

Not listening! Am listening to Black Sabbath now till the flip. That way, no one can put rubbish songs in my mind. LOL.

11:49 pm

And done! Thanks for the help. Jac...tomorrow I will go out in my GARDEN (got the word from you) and pick some flowers just for you to make up for my song insensitivity (though it wasn't nearly as offensive as Stid's longevity comments) :)

11:50 pm

YAY kristinc!

11:50 pm

11:50 pm

11:52 pm

Hate to cheat/get clues and run but my husband is dragging me off to bed early...long day for us all. Take care all and I'll see you tomorrow with any luck. (((((hugs)))))

11:52 pm

11:52 pm

congratulations, kristenc!

11:52 pm

good night kristinc! sleep well!

11:53 pm

Krinstinc - re the hubby, bed, etc. ENJOY!

11:53 pm

And Liv is now awake, fussing her hellos. :-)

11:53 pm

***Liv*** give many smooches for the mama without a little one anymore...

11:54 pm

Hello, Liv. Nice to meet you.

11:54 pm

congratulations kristinc!

11:54 pm

okay, either she finds you all enjoyable, or she just is being happy now, but she's smiling so much she isn't staying all latched on. :-)

11:56 pm

okay, i'm going to go to a bit of work. i'll probably come back after the flip, though....freaking babble! It's addictive

11:56 pm

Knut - Either the bright screen is distracting her or you are not focused. When my son was feeding, I had to go to a place where there were NO distractions.

11:56 pm

later bendamalina!

11:57 pm

she can't see the screen in her position, so it's probably me, or the cats trying to get into my lap, too.

11:57 pm

that's true, as Liv gets older, she will distract more easily... try putting a blanket over her head and your shoulder and see if that helps.

11:58 pm

Stid - I can tell you have tried to feed a child like my eldest.

11:58 pm

and now I have Jai (me mum) on hte phone, she says Hi! and she hopes to be home soon.

11:58 pm

two of them -- very alert and bright -- handfuls for sure!

11:58 pm

blanket draped.

12:00 am

give her my love, please, what's the news today?

12:00 am

Flip!!!!!

12:00 am

Mine were both similar. But the first turned out to be so distracted because not only bright but also allergic to cow's milk. (The hospital nurses with their interference had mad quite certain that me and him didn't do any more than the colostrum thing re breast feeding!)

12:01 am

flip already?
