TY Lickety
your welcome'o hehehehe
Lick, did you tell mrp You Know who is back?
a phantom is a word that is almost there - either the letters are in the wrong position or they are missing
A phantom's a word that looks like it should be there, but it's not.
thanks lickety
flip

Hi mymuse!
ir7 = an adverb
ty lickety

SC?
Please be South Carolina and not State College
South Carolina
volley, is that the lady accused of killing 4 babies?
that kind of news makes me sick to my stomach.
not sure, just started listening to news, but I don't think so... tale end of news said she locked them in the car while she worked an 8 hour shift; then they were found in trash bags under her sink... that's all I know so far

sleepy, may check out early. m 16 year old appears to be having a depressive episode. his 1st (and until now, only) episode was 3 years ago. he sees doc tomorrow. he's fearful & brooding - it's hard to watch him go through this. i'm optimistic things will get better. thanks for letting me vent a little.
((HUGS)) Melon hope all goes well tommorow

Volley i just read the news about those kids its so sad that no one helped her before this aweful thing happened
i can't even watch it until they connect our cable in a couple of days
it will be interesting to see what the truth really is (never seems to come out til days after initial incident)
Fran you still sans net at home :|
still borrowing wireless infernal
Volley online D & D (dungeons and dragons) got blamed for these parents neglecting their kids and it was warcraft which is notoriously bad
Fran that sucks but least your here. I got my new glasses everything is now in focus
ok, I have 5 minutes -- the new addiction is adding stuff to a great genealogical site -- http://www.geni.com/
TV is talking about SC being a death penalty state... this will be interesting to watch

Oh i didnt know that Volley

nan, thanks for my first word -- te4!!!
hmm still not finding it, what is the actual name of the video?

I know thousands of internet owls that would disagree
to a degree, jellen, as far as I know but it has a forum and help and is beta so still developing but very user-friendly
Sorry everyone im reveling in new found sight and new dvds
You know, multiple (serial) marriages, half-siblings, etc.
I'm going to try it out, thanks!
yes, jellen, absolutely
Jellen, it cracks me up that you thought you specified that the multiple marriages were serial. I'm not sure why I am laughing so hard about that but I am.
I don't know yet how some of the information I've found ties together, but I'm interested.
Hi Sam
I knew what some of of y'all might come up with. ;^)
That sentence was a cross between "you specified" and "you thought you had to specify". Sorry. :DD
Hy herinfernal! How are ya?
Jellen, several friends of mine are in multiple concurrent marriages, and they seem to last about as well as the multiple serial marriages do.
Think i may be able to finish tonights woot. New glasses and several levels of trouble when himself comes in and discovers i bought dvds instead of savings
Keeps telling me its an invalid video url
135 -- enough for tonight :)
The url contained a malformed video id.
My Aunt and her sister swapped boyfriends which later become husbands is that kinda weird?

Mikey from Berlin popped up this morning - !

*poof*
Hi im new. I keep putting owrds in that are in the puzzle and it keeps saying word not in the puzzle - can any one explain this to me please
Hi, Herin! The game is pretty simple. You make words from the letters, but the letters must be touching each other.
The letters can go in any direction, so long as they are touching.
ok great thanks! Where are the rules and explanation for me to look at please. Does the same board last all day?
click on the "Help" box above the chat log, herin
Grid flips at 12:00 midnight. You have 24 hours to find words. Can go in and out of puzzle.
Great thanks muchly- the help box is not responding when I click it. Great . Is this fun Broll?
herin, check the links under the grid labelled friends of babble. babbler's anonymous has lots of info and lickety's gives a daily set of clues. have fun!
Well, a lot of people get addicted very quickly. Only you can decide if it's fun!
thanks bonkler. Just joined. Usually play on Scrabulous about 20 games a day. I am going to give this a go though
The last link, Angelsong's page, is recommended by a lot of folks.
Hey
I see someone stole my nick
Sorry I have been herin for years. Its mythe middle of my actual name!
lot's o letters therewe can just call you fern lol
Oh really? No im not fern im Herin
so sorry is it a prob
thus to avoid confusion ill go to my friends
sorry i dont understand - is me using the handle a problem for you because I am new and will stop if you need me to
morning all
morning g&j
hello all again
how are you finding babble so far herin?
hi pink :o)
hey-a everyone
Hi G&J
morning tnt
hi tandt
hows the grid?
not sure got a 4 year old helping lol
fireworks for me
how fun. my -10 week old (I'm pregnant) usually chimes in while I'm playing
wtg lore
hello bonkler pink TandT garyandjulie have fun enjoy the grid
congrats tnt boys are great fun, fullof adventure and pocketfuls of amazing things ;o
pink did you get out to enjoy your good weather
mine used to move a lot when i was on pc when pregnant to
:) we tried to confirm it again this last visit, but he is breached so he's being shy
not yet, i had a pain in me left arm and shoulder so i had a lay down, will go to hospital soon
what have you done pink?
why whats wrong?
i don't know
is someone taking you there?
well good luck at hospital. Gary went in with similar problems last year and it turned out he has nerve damage in left elbow!
take a good book for the wait around pink.
no but i do think its stress related
i'll have to take little pink with me ....which should be fun lol
brb
littlepink will charm the staff I bet
perhaps some one can let me kow what a good score is and if when you have found a word that someone else can no longer find it.
im sure she will do her party piece G&J!!
everyone can find all the words herin. a good score is not something I worry about just how many words i get. most days I don't finish due to time restraints
scores change day by day due to a different word count every day
my daughter was a positive charmer at little pinks age. she's just turned 17 and stil is
oh I want to put in Target but it won't work... I guess that is todays phantom word
Good morning/evening all.
morning haz
hi haz
Morning all. Is it just me or has Lickety's list gone peculiar?
what do you mean liz/
?
toad - take the last t from the word you mentioned as a phantom and it's an acceptable word.
my daughter could charm the birds out the tree, but she will play me up as we wont be in the childrens a and e where the toys are
thanks haz
You're welcome - we use it here for a cross, henpecking sort of woman. Not a compliment!
never heard of it. interesting
my 4 year old it's the 50 kiddies rides in the shopping malls, will throw tantrums for them. never works though unless he is just with gary
It seems to be an amalgam of yesterday's words and today's all in the wrong places e.g.AE..airn..what's THAT about? AND it claims I've got 222 words and I haven't even started..boy, that was the quickest grid ever LOL
Mine is okay, lizmac, I suppose you could try refreshing the clues.
I've tried closing/reopening, refreshing etc. to no avail.
Well, you've used up all my computer knowledge!
Maybe I'll try using V10 or something.
is v11 causing probs?
It's just plain wierd.
Say what you mean, liz, don't hold back.
Spooks on the 'pute..woooooo.
Is that the X files music?
I'm off to try V10, before the ghosties get me. I'll report on progress!
See you later, liz.
Here I am to help---Scully reporting for investigation!
keeping fingers crossed for you
i'm having a hard time seeing the obvious today on this grid
Good morning Scully.
Liz, you are actually in....*scary music*da, da, da*..the Twilight Zone!
got to go. pink if you are still there good luck at the hospital. everyone else happy babbling
Bye gandj.
bye g&j
Bye Jules
thank you G&J....have a good day in the sunshine!!
Where is my man, Fox Mulder?
Good luck, Lil! Do you feel OK?
i have so pain in my left arm and shoulder not sure if its heart related so i'll be off to the hospital soon
Oh dear, V10 link doesn't work. Back to V11, reloaded...just the same. Who do we call (all together now) Ghostbusters!!
Hmmmm....does it hurt to move or even at rest?
My ideas are below, Liz
No, Scrabbler, I'm feeling alone and scared..I might have to do this puzzle unassisted by Lickety! BooHoo.
it hurts when im still and moving, plus the feeling of faintness creeps over me from time to time, its been going on for months but it hurts alot more, and im getting scared
have you tried going on line to his site
You are here with us and you are safe. We will guide you through this misadventure.
You can still bring up lickety's list in a separate window, though?
Off to the Doc's Pink!
For months, Lil? Yes, get it checked out.
Haz, didn't think of that, I'll try.
i will
In the immortal words of Derek Trotter, liz, 'You know it makes sense.'
Is the X used in any words?
yes scrabbler
Yes, think of what you do to your muscles.
TY, Lil
I am fl4ing them as I type!!
And what the IRS is.
Ah, yes---I am just getting intimate with the grid....TY
And the sort of test we do in school
Wouldn't it be awful to have to pass a test in how well you use your muscles?
TY--those words all seem so obvious now that I am embarassed to have asked for hints.
There may be more I haven't discovered yet.
We went through those days, didn't we, Hazel?
Yes, all the gym teacher ever gave me were withering/pitying looks.
I was a big girl, so I couldn't run the long distances or do pull-ups, but I was other wise a good athlete. There was Scrabbler lagging in last place during the mile-runs, wishing for oxygen.
Rolex not acceptable - enable can probably spot all the forgeries.
LOL, hazel
Scrabbler - Do you play scrabble to
I was always the last to be picked for any games. Team captains accepted me as a kind of booby prize.
I do with my friends, but not on-line---I don't want the added pressure of a time constraint. Welcome, herin.
Poor Hazel! Your talents lie elsewhere!!
That's for sure.
G'd morning Babblers!
Good morning Lori!
That ag4,8 is ridiculous, but so am I because I monkeyed it
Hey, Lori!! I thought of you yesterday when I was behind a truck with a Nova Scotia license plate!! I wanted to pull aside and ask the driver if he knew you, but he was going too fast for me.
Hey Lori
LOL Scrabbler.
G'd morning Ninja pink!
Samere Scrabbler. I saw a NY plate, thought maybe they might know ya'. :-)
It would have been fun if you had caugnt up with him, run him off the road and demanded to know if he knew somebody in Canada (first name only). You'd have been carted off for sure!
The ninja suit has a hole in it must try and sow it up asap
"Excuse me, sir? Sir? Yes, do you know LoriP? Yes, LoriP..she lives in Nova Scotia. She is a famous Babbler."....He would have flipped me the bird, I think.
Even more fun if he HAD known her!
Aw, Lil--talk back to the Black Monster!! And, here..you can have my Happiness Ninja Suit for battle.
"Sir, you DO know LoriP? Quite a gal, isn't she?"....."Yep, she sure does hate those re's."
***Hnads pink a smiley face iron on patch for the Happiness Ninja suit***
That sounds about right!
Latest on strange Lickety behaviour. Clues are the same when brought up on a separate page, linked from original Babble site.....I know poor Lickety is under a lot of strain just now, so I'll just go ahead and blame him and soldier on LOL
So, Liz, you are having problems with the basic Babble site too?
That X files music is getting louder.
The happiness Ninja suit is very durable. Iron on patches are faster than sewing.
I found 2 ax4's
Somebody HAD to mention sewing, didn't they?
**dons the new and improved smiley face suit and the black monster looks.... confused.... backs off verrryyy slowwwlllyyyy
Thank you for the welcome. Its just that I wondered if you played on Scrabulous. Its free and its a great site for plaing. The only time restraints are the ones you choose and if you play robots which i do i choose a long period of time like 50 minutes and finish the game in like 5 mins. It takes the pressure of though. Maybe give it a go. It could be on the friends of babble link if anyone else likes scrabble.I am new here.Whats it like. Can you see how others are doing through the course of the day or is there no competition element to it. ? T
Mulder & Scully are ready to tkae this on--the X-files in cyberspace.
herin - there is no competition element, unless people declare how they are getting along.
The grid's fine, taking words etc, but the clue page is all to pot.
Ok thanks just wondered if at the end of the game they showed how every one had done
I have played Scrabulous. I also have the Scrabble CD-ROM and play against "Maven" who can be set at various levels of difficulty
The game lasts for 24 hours so people come and go throughout the time zones. Some are finishing as others are beginning.
LOL pink. Is this a different and new herin?
I have caused a kerfuffle i think. My handle has always been herin but I didnt know someone else was using it on this site.
Herin--everyone's ultimate goal is to find all of the words for that day's grid. With big grids or busy days each preson may just do what they want to.
I hope I havent offended anyone
A different one, Lori. There's a herinfernalady still.
Morning all, just popping to for a quick hello between phone calls
You can ask Dr_God to change your handle-e-mail him--or register with a different name.
I think I caused the other herinferallady a problem and feel bad about it
Hi FMitch!
Hello FMitch - busy at work?
Coffee refill anyone?
Her name is so much longer and different - do you think i should
Yake yesterday for example. I gave myself 10 minutes to complete the grid, when in actuality i only got 29 words, and had to go to work and didn't finish until last night.....LOL
herin, I wouldn't worry about it too much, you can always change your name if you want to avoid being confused with her.
Hi Scrabbler Happy smiles as lovely sunny day. Hi Haz, yup, having a good work morning so far :)
We often shorten people's names when chatting, so we call her herin.
My name is Catherine. I choose Herin bnecause its the middle of my name and there were to many other Catheirnes and Kates and Cathys etc
That's good - we're a bit dull and wet today.
Herin--you could create another name.
one of my cats is making it kind of difficult to play right now
Put yourself in the tumble dryer then Haz :)
Hah, T&T--don't let the cat on the keyboard.
LOL, FMitch
herin - maybe it would be better to change your name, otherwise when people are talking about herin, you might get confused with her.
he's sitting on my belly, which is big enough already, right between me and the laptop, which is on my knees
Okay, have to catch up on chat. That chat freeze dilemma is becoming really annoying.
I'd better choose a cool setting on the tumble dryer, if I shrink any more, I'll be too small!
Think I'll try later as this is getting too frustrating, keep repeating myself!!
The Incredible Shrinking Woman! Hey, I should put myself in the dryer. I need to shrink
I hope it gets resolved, liz, and maybe see you later.
Poor Liz!
G'd morning Liz, t&T
Knowing me, I'd shrink in height rather than in the places I want.
haha haz
Herin, welcome aboard. No kerfuffle at all. it was just for my own still groggy, not enough coffee yet brain. :)
Plus, chat freezes on me and takes minutes to resolve, which leaves me waaay behind on chatting.
I always think it would be handy if you could melt fat by leaning against a radiator. It SHOULD work, if you put a pack of lard on the radiator....
how can there be 107 4-letter words! I can only find 58... oh geeze
hahaha this cat makes me laugh
Anyway, adieu fer nieu.
we...will...talk...very....slowly...fo r...you...lori...."
Some method of non-surgical fat redistribution would get my vote.
Later liz. Take care
bye liz
Bye liz!
Scrabbler, if only that would work. Sometimes 5 or 10 minutes go by, with me unable to input in to chat, then whoomp, all the posts hit, and I'm lost.....
he's trying to bury his nose in my arm... I try to tell him it will only go so far
Too bad I am a Muggle. I would like to take a wand from Ollivander's, point it at specific parts of my body and say "Adiposis Reductus"
Haz, what is that saying about lovely things come in small packages...: )
Our pets do make our lives wonderful, don't they, Toadette
reading HP7 right now. Ollivander is being tortured by Voldermort.. at least that is what Harry saw in a vision
only about 100 pages into it right now
Oh, and FMitch. i missed you. G'd morning to ya'.
Hey, I think I'm a Babble li 5/16!
I just read that part--am on page 95. I am savoring this book and sad that it is the last one.
Lori I missed you too, Hi!
That's true, FMitch, the next time I have to climb on a chair to reach my top kitchen cupboards, I'll remember that!!
oh yes Scrabbler. They are my world. my husband bought them for me right before he deployed last time. Hard to think that was almost 3 years ago. now we are going through it again. erg. military life...
I've been so tired lately (jetlag and pregnancy) that I haven't been able to stay up to read it
Insetad of getting totally excited about going away on vacations I get severe separation anxiety over leaving my bunnies.
bunnies are so fun. I had a friend in college who snuck one into the dorms and it would follow her around like a dog
That's what mine do---my little shadows.
Are you enjoying the grid Haz? I't one of the best we have had in a long time, or is that just 'cos the sun is shining *inane grin*
both my cats do that, not all the time but most of it
Hmm, glew is not an acceptable alternate for glue.
I am enjoying the grid, some nice words - almost like a best of babble.
how many bunnies do you have?
Has Atalante been on today or is she still colouring?
I am slowing down at just 84 words....must fight on.
I'm at 92
I have 4, T. One has the downstairs for herself. The males each have their own rooms upstairs. I live alone so I can do that.
big house then!
I am convinced there are just 12 M words, as that is all I can find.
that's cool though. we are in a tiny 2 bedroom apartment just off post here. I hate it but oh well
No haven't seen Ata yet
It is temporary, T, remember that, and your husband is a hero, to serve in the military. Please thank him.
I do every day!
I want to hear how the spaniel fussage session went.
yah, actually we are trying to get moved. we are on the housing list and will hopefully we will get a new place in Oct.
just in time for the baby
what's a spaniel fussage. is there a bichon fussage?
Sprechst du Deutsch, T?
very little... enough to know how to ask if they speak english
I know a little more
Apaprently I'm a slow learner. I just foolishly answered the phone, and got snookered in to going to work. ***sigh***
I would have thought so, bichon. It's defined as giving attention of the highest degree for the longest time.
okay, that would never happen with a bichon
It is not easy to learn a new language as an adult. I am studying Italian and want to go there in the next few yrs.
we want to visit there too before we move back to the states
Lori! Are you a Babble li5,16 or not?
good morning all... and yes..i agree scrabs...on the language thing..although the one advantage we as adults have is...we CHOOSE to learn it rather then it being foisted upon us when we have no interest as a child
I'm verklempt. Snivelling in to my coffee now......
hi carlee
G'd morning carlee!
I agree with that too carlee
and hello carlee
( since have been taking written and oral arabic... I can attest to that...with a foreign alphabet to boot )
Nothing lends urgency to the learning of a language more than the need to be able to ask where the toilets are.
WC in German (Wasser Closet, W said like a V) and bano in spanish
I asked the travel company if we could take a brief visit of our own, separate from the tour group, to the village in Sicily where my grandfather grew up, for example, while the tour group stays overnight for 2 nights in Messina or Taormina. The response was: tourists should not travel on their own in Sicily. Got me scared.
or just jump up and down doing the potty dance and they'll get it
I agree, carlee, but still I hate verb conjugations.
Well, off i go, pouting the whole way there. Have a great day everyone!
nah, you'll be fine. just don't draw attention to yourself.
Nevertheless, learn them, Scrabbler. It will all make sense eventually.
Scrabbler, what is the name of the village?
Bye, Lori.
don't live in fear its what the bad guys want us to do. Yes we should be cautious, but it shouldn't ruin your life
bye lori
take care lori....
In Gualtieri Sacamina.
Gets back just in time to wave bye to Loru
Bye Lori, see you later.
My ex is from
orionova--are you in Italy??
bye lori
My ex is from Acqua Viva, near Agregento
Where do you live, orionova?
I live in West Virginia now, but I used to live in the UK.
**having a hot flash and removing the sweatshirt**
Time for me to leave too, 1st task done and ready to put in the post 4 hours ahead of schedule. Might play hookie for an hour or so as it is so nic eout. Happy Babbling, see you later :)
bye FMitch
Bye, Fmitch, enjoy the day.
Bye FMitch! - Sounds like a good day for a bit of fresh air.
bye mitch enjoy the weather!!
sounds like Scrabbler needs some fresh air
And I must have breakfast, shower and go to work....WAHHHH
Yes, T, I am going outside to fetch the newspaper at the end of the driveway, so I will cool off!
:) heehee
Bye everyone. Enjoy the day!
Toadette: Wasserklosett ;-)
hehehe...I just found a non word that is one of my favs from my cousin vinny... " a yewt, what is a yewt"
Well, if you're all going to bale out, I might as well head off as well. Dogs to walk.
Bye Scrabbler have a lovely day and thank you for the concern!! *hugs*
oh okay Mikey...
Guten tag, Michael. Ich spreche ein bischen Deutsch.
Lil---I want to hear about you later!!
i'll let you know dont worry
Auf Wiedersehen, tchuss!
Guten Ttag, Scrabbler.....wie geht's? :-)
Scrabbler: Tchuess! (if you don't have an umlauted 'u', but of course you can't use any of our special characters or punctuation here.....won't work) :-/
You mean this? ü
Ja; but when i do that, it comes out as a ? for some reason!!! :-/
There is a plug in you can get for Firefox that will do special characters for you.
Trying again: ü
Looks good here.
Oh; what do you know.....that's working now! :-o
did this game move to anothr country? Would anyone not knowing German raise their hand please
Hmm; maybe it wasn't all umlauted characters.....or, it could've just been our quotation marks it didn't like, but i know i've had problems on here with some other characters, too! :-/
I don't know German, but I'd like to.
Very funny, Inge; as if you have any trouble with it! :-þ
Inge; you're not a little green froggy anymore.....i hardly recognised you! :-/
inge... I live here and I don't know the language that well. The first few weeks I lived here I felt the need to speak Spanish, which I also know very little of
its ok inge... I don't have a clue....
bye bye all must be off now, have a good day all!!!
I returd that frog long ago, I followed the icon themes for a while, now I have this designer icon from stidmama, she did all the ones in teh grid . Sometimes we have designer icon parades, really cool
it is isn't it inge....
Oh, i see.....
140 to go, I have to go hunting now
Today is my first day back on Babble in a few months. It's good to see familiar 'faces', but I doubt anyone remembers me anymore.
Oh ja, orionova? :-) Same for me, yesterday.....
It felt a little strange at first. I couldn't quite remember how it all worked. But now, I have 60 left to find, so I feel pretty good.
hi all
how many words r there todsy?
222
hi swa.. 222
You're doing better than me; i have 188 left to find, yet! :-þ Of course, i haven't been here very long, either!
I've been playing for about two and a half hours, with a break to do some weeding in the 'garden', and to clean the litter box.
thanks t and t and orio!
The excitement never ends!

You're welcome.
It's taking me more than a minute.
I don't know what I bid on.
Oh, a fine auction.

See you Nono.
Hi room !!!
Hello callan.
Hi Haz
Hi Haz Did you and Spangle have a good walk?
Yes, thanks - the rain has dried up nicely.
In fact, the sun is shining so an afternoon walk will be in order as well.
Did you enjoy your time out?
Good morning, Haz, FMitch and all. 'Tis a glorious day in our corner of the world!
oh lovely, I keep thinking I should find someone locally that needs their dog walking as I would enjoy that so much. Isn't it this month you are going to Edinburgh?
Greetings Scarlet
Hello Scarlet! Yes, we're heading across in just over a fortnight's time.
:-)
You're sounding very cheerful, Scarlet! I think you'll enjoy this grid as well.
Can't you shanghi hubby and head south after?
This is a very lovely grid, Haz... I am loving the twisty discoveries as I mooch along...
Leave him stranded, you mean?
No kidnap him and give him no option
Have you seen the size of him?
Yes, I have, but did forget that particular aspect :)
I was in the butcher's the other day - and was greeted with 'Oh good, Hazel, you're still standing.' Apparently husband had been in to get his knife sharpened and they were fearing the worst!
hello babblers.
LOL
Hello Madi.
That's funny, Haz. Hello, Madi.
How's the grid?
I am loving it, Madi.
It's a really nice grid - not the fastest but lots of good words.
good
Brill, fab, great ... grid is just fine :)
jakes-mum didn't like it - I'm not sure why.
Or should that be, I'm not sure why not?
i love your icon haz
Many months ago, Haz, you told me that I would eventually find the odd and the improbable words... and I, resigned that that was impossible, listened to my interior voice naysaying your statement.... have found that Babblets are much easier to uncover and move on! You were correct... and have evermore become my Babblemuse! :-)
I love my icon as well - she's great fun!
Ah Scarlet the light has dawned!
That's good to hear, Scarlet. I find that the strange words do lodge somewhere in the brain.
Yes, FM... and I am a happy person!
Now to get my husband to accept my word as law.
Scarlet!
Good luck on that one, Haz!
hi all just on 1st word i see is who we dont want t7/28
25 years - still a work in progress.
shdy!!! *Hugs to you!!*
good morning all
Isn't that the truth, diem!
**hugs back** glad to see you
Good morning, flosey!
Hello flosey and shdy - good morning to you.
So good to see you, too! How are you?
Haz, if you get your enormous husband to agree your word is law, please tell me what methods you used
hi haz, hi flosey
lol Haz, reading back here, 46 years and a work still in progress
My chief weapon is food.
Good morning all.
LOL, hetty. Hello to you, also. Yes, Haz, please pass along some tips...
Scrummy lunch eaten, time to get back to the grind. TTFN.
hi shdy and hetty
Back to the grindstone already, FMitch? See you later!
FM... what is "scrummy"?
Scrummy - short for scrumptious.
yummy, tasty, delicious etc etc :)
I have to go babblers. I need to go outside and feed the dogs. I'll be back here later. tata for now!
love the British slang
I'd say i's portmanteau for scrumptious and yummy
Bye for now Madi.
see ya madi
Thank you, FM... it sounds like an American slang term for "crummy" which is the direct opposite meaning!
too bad it sounds like a rugger ploy
ooh, daughter just signed in, bbl
I know "scrum"... but, live and learn everyday. I loved the term FMitch used several weeks ago... "stair rodding" to describe the rain...
Until another time, Madi.
Yes, that stair rodding was pretty descriptive.
Fireworks!
HI everyone
stuck on both tr6/24
Hi, peri! :-)
Congratulations Merk and hello peri.
hi peri, yay merk!
le 6?
Congratulations, Merk!
The one relating to medicine has three, followed by how old you are (tr6/24)
Yay for Merk
The second one adds a sometimes vowel to an under the bridge dweller (tr6/240
Time for bed. See you tomorrow.
le + door to the garden
nitey nite, merk
Hi, Une!
hey, scarlet!
Good night, Merk.
thanks haz, I know that word, just didn't see it
evening all
You're welcome, peri.
peri... I'm not orange anymore...LOL
thanks Haz got the other
hey, ishult ;-)
And hello ishult.
hi Ishult
That's good peri.
Hi, Ishult!
glad to hear that Scarlet :)
hi ishult
anyone got clues for the 8's, 23rds of te way through todays grid, but still no sign!!!???
:-)
orange? scarlet
to8/40 - to bear, endure.
to8/50 - compound word, the place where the price is paid for entry
tx haz
me8/65 - adverb of a less than generous helping of me6/27
tks haz
Peri knows my innermost secret: I am blue/white. I am the whitest person in Asheville, and everyone else has such a lovely golden patina to their skins.. so, a not-too-bright idea came to me to try a tan in a tube product. I overdid it, apparently, and became an overripe pumpkin color for several days, shdy!
ty Haz, there easy when you know them!!!!!
tollgate
I know, Ishult - you start to wonder if someone has changed the grid when you weren't looking.
scarlet, i have a friend who refers to the two of us as summer "cave fish" !! LOL
& the 3rd one, thanks again
You're welcome.
sorry
Perfect, Une!! LOL...just perfect!
Scarlet, I kept your secret and did not tell a soul.
lmao, scarlet, am currently in fear for my skin, wore white shorts and white socks yesterday, noticed my skin made it look like I had pants on! going to Mexico in 2 weeks and will surely come back very red!
:-D
thanks une for the l36
yw :-)
I trusted you, peri. But, today is blurt out my stupidity day. I knew you would never gossip about my density...LOL
I take it you had even more orange patches on knees, elbows and ankles?
haz, about the ME 8, i have ME 6/27, but i can' t put the adverb ending on it. where am i going wrong?
bernice, use the Brit spelling of me6
ah
Well, Haz, in the interest of full disclosure, the thicker skin on those areas turned a dirty brown... It's 85 degrees outside and I'm covered from head to toe.!
thanks, une
Bernice, there are two spellings of the less than generous me6, switch the last two letters.
it was 90 degrees here at 7:30 last nite . . . ack!
Oh, shdy... I could never expose myself to the sun. What SPF do you use to protect yourself?
I knew it, Scarlet. My similarly white daughter keeps trying to go golden. Much the same result, especially on the areas mentioned.
I will use 30 or so, slathered on about every half hour
they say spf means you can spend that many times more in the sun, with none i'm good for about 2 minutes, lol
I have found that the best sun screen for me is a parka and waders
Haz, I even used "Comet", a bleach-infused cleanser, to scrub the affected areas. I have since found a soy-based product which is a kinder, gentler tone enhancer!
i also have rosacea, so am red in the face even inside, put me on a boat on the ocean....... you get the picture
lol, br
ohmygod, you scrubbed your skin with Comet?!
LOL... Good morning, BabbleRabble-rouser! How are you feeling these days?
It's just not worth the hassle, Scarlet. Just stay pale and interesting.
terrific solution, BR!! LOL
doing okay
Just the ankles, elbows and knees, Une... Stupid is as stupid does... LOL
oh, hi forrest!
I think I look better with a little bit of added color but I still use spf30 and use a bronzing poweder to give me a golden glow :)
*ouch*
Hello BabbleRabble.
*powder*
ANother method of sun avoidance is to live in the British isles in summer 2007.
See... you're a heck of a lot more sensible than I, peri...
BR-r... "okay" is better than so-so.
just learned by trial and error, Scarlet
ta5/20 please
hello again everyone
I have made the mother of all errors, peri... I like Haz's suggestion of "pale and interesting". Hi, Nono
!
Scarlet, i've made the same huge mistake years ago..... i thought all that stuff was improved now so as not to turn you orange
guess thats what thought gets me lol
ta5/20 - what the IRS is in the US.
sheesh, thanks Haz
You're welcome (sorry to mention the dear people)
LOL, Nono... I am akin to an albino, so I guess my skin reacted strongly to the "stuff"... but, now, I am returning to "cave fish" , as Une said...
i never burned as a kid but the older i get the faster i turn red so sun block is a must now
I can't stand putting sunblock on...it makes me clammy and itchy and greasy... so, I just avoid the direct sun. I garden in the early morning and later, after the long rays have gone over the yardarm.
Morning, kids. Ha ha. Cave fish. Uhg. Me pale face too.
can someone help me with the second Y? i have YE 4/6.
Hi, Judi. Another terminally white person... LOL
i know what you mean. the sun block is so heavy i try to avoid going out when really sunny as well but sometimes it just cant be avoided
Hello, all.
Hi, Jellen!
Good morning all. Sure you can see the glow from my white legs across the world!
hi Jellen
It's true. And I have no rythym either.
yt6/24 is the other y word. y, a double helping of the consonant, finish with the female spanish river
Yet another!! LOL. Hi, Shellyr!
Hi Shelly
When I was in Mexico on vacation, a woman said I wasn't pale, I was transparent.
heehee, hi sheely and jellen
thanks, haz. what kind of word is that???
Lol, Jellen. Now that's WHITE!
You may well ask, Bernice.
LOL, Jellen... that seems to be most of us today.
I have discovered a good sunless tanner for the face though - Dove. Use it every day as a moisturizer. No orange! No streaks!
oh, and i hate using sunblock on my face, but keils has a great moisturizer that has 15 spf in it, so i don't have to.
Yes, I am using Dove now, too, Shelly. The "Energy Glow" is much nicer to me.
I call myself "fish-belly-white"... You can see my veins through my skin so well that I should have been the model for the circulatory system that they put in the encyclopedia! LOL!
Yup, that's the one. The energy glow for the body is pretty nice too. Very gradual
hmmm, funny that all us pale people are inside on a computer, now isn't it?
its the place to be shdy!!
Good one, shdy! LOL. Perfect, amelu!
oh, i fully agree!
The out-of-doors is not my natural environment.
Neither is the water, for me. I am a land mammal, not an otter.
Cave fish live in caves - we live in cubicles.
I concur, Scarlet.
i like to be outside, but this time of year i get 45 mosquito bites per second
LOL...
I live for the times I can roll around in surf
I grew up at the ocean and the rougher the water the better
I have worn Patchouli for decades, shdy, and I am never bothered by an insects. They (even the wasps and bees) land on my skin and take off in no time...
Help with ro 7/40, please?
Yes, insects find me delicious as well. Hubby can be out for hours and never get bitten.
like being on a boat on the water, but no worry of sharks for me, i will die of a heart attack within seconds of actually being in the water...there has been some speculation among family friends that i may actually be able to walk on it out of fear alone
ro7 - begin with three letters of decay, end with the last letters of the devil's angelic name (Luc****)
Did someone mention living in cubicles? Mine is calling me. See you all later.
Thank you, Haz.
ick, shelley, see ya
Bye, Shelley
Yolu're welcome.
LOL.....shdy.... I wouldn't even get that close. MY parents used to have a pontoon boat. We'd play pinochle for hours, but I never forgot that we were on the *eek* water...
hi guys
how many words today?
222 words
Hi, Go. 222
Hello GoBraves, 222 words.
i have actually been afraid in a 3-4 inch deep mountain stream, completely irrational, and i can swim!
Your guys had a spectacular evening last night, GoB! And, you have built a great team with Mark T!!
Well, you never know when there might be carnivorous minnows, Shdy.
thanks all, and happy hunting
lmao, judi, those little brookie trout are very aggressive!
Just when you thought it was safe to paddle in a mountain stream......
LOL, shdy. You may be right, Judi...
I can wade, shdy, but that's it for my comfort level.
I will not relate my up close and personal story about the South American piranhas, then, folks. Needless to say, mudpuddles intimidate me...
They say they go for pale faces, Scarlet.
Pale faces with toe jam.
You are absolutely cutting, friend Haz! LOL
Not quite as sharp as those little critters, but you get the drift!
And more, Haz... LOL. I'm still laughing... Judi, you're in on this, aren't you!?
It's a conspiracy. Call in the Warren Commission.
*looking innocent while tossing bread crumbs into stream*
just got back from call, what a fun room!
You all have me laughing so much! Judi... you are a wicked, wicked person... feeding Babble friends to the bad fishes... Hahahha
see you guys later, have to go fix a friend's computer, he can't get online, and i understand the panic that can cause!
I have so missed these flights of fancy... See you soon, shdy.
Bye, Shdy.
Happy Wednesday, fellow Babblers.. must scroll back to see what chuckles I have missed..
Bye, shdy
Hi, Aloy... silliness and laughter..
See you later shdybr - you sound like a useful person to have around!
Hi, Aloy
hi Scarlet.. that is good! Hi Jellen, Haz, and bye to shdybr8
I must water my poor cubicle plants. I can hear them gasping.
Hello Aloy!
Any Sweeny Todds in your cubicle, Judi?
I can get a freshly sharpened knife.....
And then...
Production can begin.
duh.. what is a Sweeny Todd?
Sweeny Todd was a barber who did a lot more than cut hair.
lol... gotcha
LOL...
Don't think so Scarlet. All I know is they're green and like the flourescent lights.
you could even say Sweeny Todd was a barber who cut a lot more than hair
Did the expression 'heads will roll' originate with the said barber?
Gosh, there is a grid here. No man-eating flowers then, Judi!? Perfect, Haz. Hi, Takuma Sato.
pretty sure not, haz
hi, Takuma
Perhaps Madame Guillotine then.
hi jell and everyone else
hi there, Takuma!
Hello Takuma, by the wayl
oops, time to get dressed, carpet cleaners coming in 45 minutes
could someone offer a clue for the 'Y's? Sometimes I feel as if I have no 'Y'-words in my vocabulary
well, that was easy, he had the thing plugged in wrong, fixed it over the phone!
Welcome back, shdytree!
ye4/6 - change the abomiinable snowman's final vowel for a consonant.
ty, scarlet
yt6/24 - y, double the consonant, finish with a female spanish river
Takuma - the two Y words aren't in anyones vocabulary. They are awful.
See you later, flosey.
Ooo -- just realized my icon is a clue for today. I knew if I waited long enough to change it, that it'd show up again
el6.24 is a pretty word though it means hardened forewings of insects
thanks haz!
You're welcome.
hrm -- I'd even seen those two 'Y's before
I guess one wouldn't want to name a girl el6.18 after all
Perhaps not, Aloy, although I've heard worse.
Here is a story which demonstrates the diversity and "Huh?" population of Asheville: A developer has purchased some property in the downtown heart of the city. On that parcel is a magnolia tree which he has planned to dig out. To move it would cost $20,000, and the old tree might die from shock if it were relocated. The local Wiccans have decided to draw a line about the tree's impending doom. Friday evening, the Coven Oldenwilde will encircle the tree and chant spells to protect it... as well as "Barbarous Words of Power to thward the developer." Yerrch. The story was in the Asheville Citizen-Times yesterday.
how about fe5.16 for a name... nope, it is the weekday of a church calendar on which no feast is celebrated.. lol
speechless, scarlet
Likewise, TS. LOL
picturing this, Scarlet.. how old is the magnolia?
morning, babblers... how many words today?
How many Wiccans are we talking about?
And did George Washington play under its branches?
do any of the wiccans float?
222
222, stevie
hm. cool, I've hit the 1/3 mark
Wiccan Magnolia and the boogie woogie blues.
scarlet, what a fascinating story and event. NOw can anyone clue el 6/24 and I can move forward?
It is an ancient tree... the entire coven will do it... I don't know about our first president, Haz... LOL, inge and good morning.
el6/24 - el, then a reworking of what the waiter uses to hold all the plates.
Hello, inge
lovely word, inge.. defined in my post at 10:16
LOL, Judi...
so, the ancient magnolia is doomed?
do the wiccans float in small mountain streams?
Not if the wiccans have anything to do with it!
I would imagine there would be some kind of incendiary protest if any of them floated in water
Save the tree. Re-locate the Wiccans.
'Don't sit under the magnolia tree with anyone else but me' - I can hear the chorus swelling.
gee. of course, why didnt I think of taht myself!!! tx for the el clue
I am laughing so hard, Takuma and shdy... they haven't been dunked, to the best of my knowledge... Haz, Judi, TS, shdy... I have a sore stomach from your comments...
thanks, haz, song now forever stuck in head!
You're welcome, inge.
Magnolia? I don't even know ya!
I once went to a Wiccan wedding.. it was very very nice.. out in the woods
Hahhahah, J
are the developers going to hold a protest, too -- say, a bigger circle of them around the wiccan circle?
anyone else but me.....
anyone else but me.....
Of course, Aloy...
Hysterical... you folks are all so... ?
***of to buy plane tickets to Asheville, this is a must see!
I am stuck in the Re's
re6/27 please
i am stuck in the chat room, grid? what grid?
NM found it
ir7?
hello, peri..
HI Aloy
you have to be older than that, judi
Friday, shdy. Court house square location...will follow through on reports in the coming days... LOL
any more of that yummy potato soup left?
'We shall not, we shall not be moved..... just like the magnolia tree planted in the field of doom,... we shall not be moved'
well, guess i won't get any work done this week!
Oh, Scarlett/Haz... your words have touched my little old heart...
ir7 - the manner in which the wiccans addressed the matter of the magnolia tree.
will there be video available?
I am absolutely howling, Haz... LOL
lol, haz -- great clue
we should form a group called STOMP... save the old magnolia people
LOLOLOLO, Aloy
we could send it to Lickety as a fireworks video!
Just a little bit of soup left Aloy :)
I've always fancied myself as a stomper.
peri, i haven't stopped thinking of your soup, so i must go get some potatoes today and make some
Amen. Screw the tree. Pave the world... Wiccans be damned.
surely you jest, Judi...
Unknown as of this moment, shdy... but if our local television does a shot or two, I will forward the link. LOLOLOL, Judi...
SO much cleaner. All that leaf and flower debris.
Yes. I do. And don't call me Shirley Judi.
God, I'm glad I didn't have to leave! This is too much fun
i think i must have Wiccan ancestry
Are you feeling the magnetic magnolia call, Aloy?
must leave, bbl, after work
we probably all have wiccan ancestry
I am so much enjoying the grid this a.m. Calling all angels--
'Save me, Aloy, save me!'
absolutely, Haz.. (-:
Actually, there is a similar controversy going on in my home town in NY - in this case it's about a ginko tree.
that tree is probably older than me... and that is old!
Why, Aloy... do you have an affinity for doomed magnolia trees?
See you soon, peri.
That's defeatist talk, Scarlet. You haven't given the wiccans a chance to do their stuff.
i love trees.. why can't they build around it? Workers could lunch in its shade
hey all!
They want to chop down the 75+ year old ginko to make more parking spots. Complete waste. They don't need the parking and the tree is so lovely.
hiya just nipping in to say hello very quickly
howdy, TO
LOL, Haz... we shall see... Hi, TO. Are you a wiccan?
I like your thinking Aloy
no i'm a bureaucrat.
Hi, Lizsark! Good thoughts, Aloy!
Problem #2 is, the ginko is starting to die because it's not getting enough water because it's already surrounded by pavement.
ridiculous, Judi.. tear down Mother Nature, put in a parking lot..
LOL, TO... very good!
Hey Paradise.... LOL
Hello liz and TO.
getting a bit too hot out here to babble. I'm off (at least for awhie) good luck all!
Morning, liz, TO, others...
hi Haz :)
bye, Takuma... see you next time.. are you out under a tree?
If this is paradise, I wish I had a lawn mower...
Later, Takuma
who sings that song.."they paved paradise, and put in a parking lot"?
hi, Liz
I think we've done enough paving of paradise - time to think about saving some of it
Judy Collins
joni mitchell
Joni Mitchell
thanks
"Big Yellow Taxi", Shdy.
shdy - Joni Mitchell, 'Big Yellow Taxi'
hi Jellen
Then it's Joni Mitchell. My bad.
yes, shdy.. that was what I was trying to recall
Hello, Jacula!
heehee, judi, that came to me just as it popped up on the screen (had to dig deep into the grey matter)
Then they puttim in a tree museum!
i can hear it now
You join us, liz in the midst of a campaign of recruitment for a save the tree campaign. Scarlet is recruitment officer and if all goes well she'll run on the Magnolia ticket for the presidency. Hillary won't have everything her own way!
Hi, Jacula
hi jacs!
Hi all. Having a tea break. Mowed lawns, or rather ploughed them (still very damp). Got hedge to cut next.
Go for it Scarlet!
don't cut any trees, jac!
busy day there Jac
Hey Scarlet will have my vote
or we'll sic the wiccans on you!
mine, too
i would vote for scarlet over hillary any day!
Only if I have the Wiccan Coven Oldenwilde behind me. Oh, by the way, the (true) priestess's name is Dixie Deerman! Yerch...
You have my vote, Scarlet, and I'm not even an American!
See what you start when you chat, Scarlet? Out of bed a retired newspaper editor, by this evening you're on your way to the White House.
we have babblers who are wiccan
*whistling Dixie*
I want to thank the supporters, far and wide... Rescue the Magnolia shall be my rallying cry...
are they sure there are g's in the top right corner of this grid??? I cannot find any! :(
shdy - I'll have to cut some; hedge is made up of berberis, holly, hawthorn, forsythia, hebe, honeysuckle and dog rose.
fillet
I will remember all of this when I have my finger on the "button" my friends...
oh ho! Just found one!
Thanks, TO. Didn't have that one.
just don't tell STOMP about it, jac!
lol Judi nor me
Thank you Scarlet - and remember there has always been a special relationship between our two countries.
TO - That reminds me... I must get some trout out of the freezer for tomorrow.:D
LOL......
brookie trout?
hahahahhahahah
Uh oh, Shdy. They're talking about fish again. Run!
And it shall continue, Haz.
Cue the jaws music....
nope its no good I have to sort the kids out before they kill each other - no rest for the wicked BBL
Are we back to man-eating fishes? I guess that's the same as politics...
gl4: what we all feel when scarlet wins on the wiccan magnolia ticket
Indeed it will, Scarlet!
And, no rest for the Wiccans either, apparently.
shdy - rainbow trout.
That's "wiccan", Liz
I'll have to take a break to give Spangle a walk. I'm available to run as Vice-President, provided the terms are good and I get to meet George Clooney.
yum, now I'm hungry for potato soup/trout chowder, will have to make a new recipe!
***calling George
lol... Haz for VP! give Spangle a scratch behind the ears..
Mr. Clooney will be your "special aide" Haz. Consider it done!
Mmmm. George Clooney. More delicious than potato soup.
Okay, while you're getting George, I'll get the dog walked! Bye for now....
Later, Haz
give him 10 years, he'll be a very good-looking man
This chat sounds like a party in the 1960s... LOL
scarlet, what are you implying we are on????
actually, it's more like an episode of laugh-in
Clue for ar5/10, the second?
i am high as he&* on coffee!
ok, time to ask and then maybe i will see.. the third fe6.27 is eluding me..
Wow. Time warp. I remember Laugh-In!

Exactly, TO !! LOL. Yes, I do, TO... hilarious...
LOL, Aloy...

TO - just saw you post. I was watching Rowan & Martin's Laugh In on you tube the other day, still funny although sets/dress etc so dated as to be back in fashion again :)
hey mitch, the log just remiinded me of that today
lol, my favorite prescription drug ad just came on......listing side effects it says "if you experience increased gambling, sexual, or other intense urges, call your doctor" WHAT?
: ) TO
Wow! What drug is that and where do I get it?
What drug's that, shdy??
LOL my thoughts exactly
exactly! it's for restless leg syndrome, so your legs calm down, but....
or you are too busy to notice them
i think it's called restilin
lmao, to
Lol! I guess I've heard of that, never seen the commercial tho.
i thought i heard it wrong the first time, now better half and I wait for the end when it actually says that
(we're easily amused)
im making soup yumm! :)
trout chowder?
Just looked it up and, apparently, people are having it injected into their faces in place of Botox as it doesn't paralyse the muscles.
i got over the counter sleeping pills after all the side effects it listed it had May cause drowsiness
Sounds like a conspiracy by the drug maker. Here's a drug that stops your leg spasms, but you need another drug to counteract the side effects. Brilliant!
diam - LOL. I should hope they would!
and don't drive a car after taking them until you know you will react?????
chicken
oh no mway! X D
every drug has a million side effects.. ir ather just stay with my problems if i had one.. well i guess it depended on what i had lol
for laughs and a big waste of time, go to engrish.com, look through the archives
Just read the label on a jar of Whole Earth crunch peanut butter... 'Contains peanuts. May also contain nuts.' ?? *scratches head*
hahahahahahahhahaa
hahahahahahahhahaa
good one
Jacula, not to sound pedantic, but peanuts are actually legumes (peas are legumes)
Watch out for those nuts. They may be disquised as .... nuts!
**not adding mystery nut butter to my trout chowder

Hi all -- not much time at the moment... is it worth trying again?
ty dawger -- great clue
tw+ town cr***
I got halfway yesterday before the power went out, and it didn't come back until after the flip
YAY Jellen!
ty dawg
Hi Stid - its probably quite quick with a list
okay, I'll try again LOL (hoping the chances of single-engine planes taking out the power lines two days in a row are slim)
my goodness! no-one hurt I hope
Hi stiddy! it's not a horrible grid, has some real oddball words tho
yt?
Yoiks, Stid! Hope you ducked.
the pilot and his wife were shaken, but not stirred... Not sure if the plane will be recoverable though. Too bad it was a sweet little de Haviland
yt+ ****l by error
yt! no wounder I haven't any y's
(wonder)
it was several miles away, from us... but only a few yards from a couple houses we drive past every day
ty dawger
I'd say they were very lucky - not to crash and/or get electrocuted!
indeed Judi, that was my thinking as well. We are fortunate no cars on the road at the time, etc etc.
TY Dawg
Bad weather contributed, or was the pilot just oblivious to the power lines?
engine failure Judi -- they had to set it down and couldn't get quite as far as the field just past where they landed.
y + double consonant + **ght handed + vowel
that's just tooo scary stiddy. the municiple airport is just a bit away from my house and I hate it when the student pilots fly over head!
*winks at all babblers in the chatlog* afternoon all!
hm. tetly is in the grid but doesn't count. Still, a cup of tea does sound nice!

Right! My daughter does know about it, but kidded me that since it didn't have a newscaster, football or baseball in it, I would never know about it. No, kat, I am wrong. I thought you lived in Vancouver, BC

<-- born and raised in Pittsburgh. Played a few games for Boston's ECHL farm team in '95
My Steelers play on Sunday
Nice! Is that the eastern conference, sort of triple-A team for the Pens?
no, they were Boston Bruins the year I played
Now i believe the Johnstown Chiefs are Anaheim and St. Louis propects
I don't follow them much
I can't wait for football and baseball convergences... the Bruins were a powerhouse in their day. I lived in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area, and watched the young baby Pens play several times...
Penguins farm teams are the Scranton/Wilkes-barre Baby Pens and the Wheeling Nailers
<-- State college
any hints on the last re5/12?
Yes, and after we moved to Asheville, the triple-A S/W-B Barons moved out of town, and the new franchise is the NY Yankees... everyone was going nutso when Clemens pitched during rehab...

Hi, all!
i should go do something like get my stuff ready for tomorrow' s trip. make a list or something. i will probably be on tomorrow morning trying to play if the grid isn't too huge.
hi jellen!
Hi Jellen
hi jellen
well, gotta go. Back some time later.
That might be a good idea, Dorens, getting ready for your trip.
bye, Jilli
later jilli!
Right, I too should be packing for five days in Cleveland

bye Jilli
well then inge, I will pack if you will
Good one Night. Like the video?
I'm getting excited on your behalf, Dorens!
DEal!
i used to spend the days before a trip thinking about what i needed to pack and then about 5 hours before actually packing.
hi lickety!
Hi Fran!
I have to make a list, or I'll forget something like underwear.
haha jell... i have thought about this fran, but the problem is that i don't really know the weather in france, it's been so bloody hot here, but I don't think it is there.. and will be on a barge in Burgundy for the largest part of the trip.... what is bargewear?
hi lickety!
i don't know what you wear, but i do know you NEVER run on a barge
Casual elegant?
lol, can't help you there dorens, although the weatherchannel.com might help with the weather.
Hey Dorens, and all. mrp rang me this morning and told me the surgeon saw the last Xray and said he's ok for her to come home tomorrow. But we are waiting on the portable antibiotics - so might be Monday.
there are bikes on the barge. (but they are to ride NEXT to the barge, not on it)
oh wow, that is great lickety
that's great advice hursh.
yay lickety!
OK. I just downloaded Lickety's version 11 and I don't get it. If I open the internet will it look like this now? Or do I always have to open the zip file?
the advice comes from phoebe on friends
I have a friend who went to France in May. She spent months researching what to wear so as not to shriek "tourist".
Also, how do I make everything smaller so I can see all of the grid and the chat?
shannon, good thing lickety is right here to answer your question.
shannon - resources - User Guide ;-)
for heaven's sake, they're french, they're not klingon
Hello
Shannon, I extracted the file and saved on my desktop.
that's kind of hard Jellen, you can always tell who the Americans are.
hi peri!
fran, good advice. i checked weatherchannel and the highs are all in the 70's.. looking good.
Plus Shannon - lots of info in that email.
I LOVE Honey Bunches of Oats--eat 'em every morning, and sometimes for dinner too!
i've been in france and been asked for directions more than once, so apparently i look the part, whatever i wore then!
i think i picked a favorite scrabs, you're the second person to say something. :-)
hah, i am so distracted, never noticed the icon, fran, so was wondering what was scrabbler talking about !
when i traveled to Italy people would speak to me in Italian too, so I must blend in too.
I looked at the User's Guide and I didn't see how I'm supposed to open the Babble Home Page like your page.
I will admit, I'm no computer genius.
well. i am going to stand and look at my closet for a while and think about things. i am so used to sleeveless tops and shorts lately cause of the 80's and 90's here. i suppose longer sleeves will be in order for 70's . I just don't remember weather in the 70's.
last ta5/14 anyone?

hi hurhs
a bridge collapsed in minneapolis, did you see?
can you play babble on the porch? (or send a fax from the beach?)
a bridge over the mississippi river
an hour and a half ago
any casualties hurshy?
during rush hour
hello everyone
yes at least 2 but they're still working on rescuing, they won't know for awhile
oh no
didn't see hursh, sounds bad bookie, i CAN babble on the porch, and i live on a beach...of sorts.
there must be more because there were pedestrians and bicyclists and construction workers
ouch, that bridge sounds bad
my friend accepted a tenure-track job at u minn-st paul, i don't know if he moved there yet or not and i can't reach anyone who would know
the bridge they said is near the university
i'll keep all those folks in my heart. i hope everyone arrives to their destination whole, if not a bit late.
the odds are a zillion to one that he or his wife would have been on it but i am still a little worried
new or old bridge?
30 years old
do they suspect terrorism?
no, it seems to be an engineering accident
30 years, not an old bridge - maybe voldemort was behind it?
they will investigate to make sure, but it doesn't look like terrorism they said
shhh about HP, i'm almost done with it!
sounds like a shoddy bridge that needed fixing, like a lot we have in Michigan. cold weather can damage roads pretty bad
they were doing construction on it
well, i'd contact the ministry of magic
ly 6/24 anyone?
just to be sure
maybe driving some new piles upset the ground
nah, sounds like muggles
muggles are fascinating
too many muggles ont ebrifge at the same time. of course!!
(see, still can't type)
or, too may humvees and SUKs on the bridge!
there can not possibly be 26 m words from that m --- no way
ly 6 -- add, how do you **** ( get special treatment)
i agree knitter
ta5, last one?
knitter, i agree. some of them aren't words. LOL
doxy like the 6 use the first vowel in place of the y and drop the last letter
ty babble
OMG just saw that bridge on the news special report, that is terrible, those proor people
infact, of the 26 Ms, i would say that 14 are weird ones
last ta5, gubmint official who takes 15% of your income
that's interesting gwen, i'm missing 14 Ms!
oh great book i have 12 what i would call normal so i am missing all the weird ones LOL
feather, AHA!!
thanks gwen
some weird M clues coming up:
first two letters of the Y words please?
te5/10, after the TV one
ma7 : imaginary bird with no legs (heraldry term) sounds like a very small grocery store
ye and yt (yes t)
ye4, yt6
ye4; yt6
another ma7 : to spawn (4 letters) + where you park your car (american term)
ma4 : old term for a wizard, used in dungeons and dragons and stuff
te = ***se the Titanic
ma4 : rhymes with a Q letter that means big fight
book that ma 7 could be to spawn many times!!
yep!!
have the wizard, got the second ma7, still working on your first ma7
don't get the wizzard
ma5 : the stuff that comes in the post + vowel
knitter, rhymes with very smart spice
an intelligent spice.... clearly more on the ball than i
rhymes with a word for anger knitter
hi all! how's percy today feather?
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
what are the points for the imaginary bird?
hi, stid!
to8, second one?
ma7, super***ke* + leafy vegetable ***tuce
Hi stid! hi doxy
he's decided to drop a couple inches i think! i feel very front heavy suddenly. and my joints down there hurt!
to 8 would be a place to pay your money to pass thru a fence door
aha, ty!
doxy, where you have to pay to use the road.
to8 : what liberals do to conservatives, but conservatives don't do to liberals. Ha!
oh feather... is your bag packed? where is doug? someone boil some water! LOL
thanks for my first 8-letter word knitter
thanks dawg
baby's bag is packed, mine isn't yet, that's on tomorrow's to do list!

water is on...
hm. maybe ought to be on tonight's list... *knits brow, then purl, then knit twice*
help with the last ma 7/32 please
cute stiddy!
lol yeah yeah mama
i love knitting chatter
me6 : me + what the price is printed on + vowel
macca, significant other + parking area is a ***

hi nut... *hands over the rum*
um...i was speaking of vodka slush actually
wouldn't that be cold on your head?
well technically, isn't purl just knitting from the other side? *looks for guidance from knitter*
why is the rum always gone, didja like the new babblecast stiddy?
new babblecast? *runs off to listen*
it's hilarious stid
tr6, first one?
a purl is indeed a knit from the other side. one can avoid purling by learning to knit backwards
why thankyou feather, you're so sweet.
tr6= medical term; prefix for three + no. of years you've lived
toldja it was my fave, and not just because you answered my question! i liked the extras
<--- wearing smart cap today! :-D

stid you are fresh
whoooo hooooo GWEN!!! >*))<<
hi minver! I am fine
Hello aknitter! How are you? Welcome to the puzzle!
hi min
tile stats tell you how many words start with that letter and how many you have already found
Congratulations Book Doctor Gwen on fireworks!YAY
Hazel, go to the bottom of the page to Angelsong's babble help. it will explain the stats and other things about this game.
good info on angelsong's resource pages too, link at the bottom under friends of babble
hazel: AR 5/6 is a word beginning in AR that has 5 letters and is worth 6 points
bravo, Gwen
very bizarre video today. . . hmmmm
Hello Hazelwood! How are you? Welcome to the grid!
follow up question....why are there multiple E's G's and so on?
so, anyone here take the myers briggs test and get 0 ???
that bridge taht collapsed in Minneapolis is not far from the University, wwhere our younget spent four yers
yes it was strange but hard not to watch
hi minver
fireworks
just north of here
glee
oh, I heard about that inge -- hoping so much that no serious injuries or worse have happened...
whoooo hoooo PERI
YAY peri!
hello all. how many words are there today?
hazel, the grid is randomly generated, although letter frequency is a factor, so you will usually see fewer of the less common letters
222, LMC
hi lmc, 222
I thought the video was interesting
LOL Gwen -- zero?
thanks
Congratulations periwinkle on fireworks! Good for U!
they hae no idea how many cars wee on teh bridge at the time

stidmama, i do not test well on personality stuff. all the answers apply
Hello LMC2!How are you doing?Welcome to the puzzle
sweet dreams peri!
it was rush hour 605 pm
nite, nite Peri
night peri
if i type the word regal in one more time ...... my phantom word
g'night, peri
I know that feeling Gwen...
hi ping
88 now stid, but gotta run to the bathroom real quick
I'm excited about the socks word - it's one of my favorites.
Goodbye periwinkle!I will see you tomorrow in the log
Gwen, you probably answer them like i do, after over thinking the choices.
once took an online "el-cheapo" myers briggs and got stuck on the first question. questions need to be alittle more specific, IMO
*waiting for feather* I am down to 82...
it was something like : "are you comfortable ina crowd" which is not a yes or no question. what kind of crowd is it? I am comfortable in some and not in others.
All the personality tests diagnose me as both an extreme introvert and an extreme extrovert
i had to take the mb for my former job. the boss asked me if i cheated cuz i came out intj, and she said i was an e something or other.
oops. now down to 80... -hurry feather hurry- *words are just popping into my head now*
Here is an idea! Maybe we should babble on the bowl to avoid any bathroom delays. I hate stopping to do my business.Anyway, just thought it was a good idea.
lmc2, congratulations, you don't fit in their silly little boxes either! LOL
back
stid! bad girl! lol
stid, are you sure feather isnt napping instad of racing with you?
It always really confuses them. I had to take a super official one at work once and they made me do it twice.
min, you can use a potty chair at the puter (oh, yuck, she thought)
lol Min. not enough room in my loo
technical difficulties!
a whole new meaning to "bowl games," min
It's supposed to be really rare - funny thing is, my boyfriend had almost the same result.
well like most things of this nature... MyersBriggs is about preferences, not what you actually do. I -can- function most of the time in a crowd, but I hate it... what I did for jobs and what I prefer to be like are usually two different things.
i once took some kind of personality test on a job application and i swear, the person i talked to afterwords looked at me in fear
LOL Ping!
ok, 80. back on stid!
lol gwen
LMC sounds like you and your boyfriend may be compatible 8-)
if people use them incorrectly it can do that... too bad gwen
okay feather! *racing ahead*
i didn't want to work at their crappy high-end jewelry store anyway, LOL!
clues anyone? i am so far very lost..........all clues welcome.
ha. got the me8
i need 7 and 8 words. have none of them. please clues but easy ones, not based on other words since i dont have many yet....only 96.
clues el 6,24?
there are lots of fun ones today - do you have the socks word?
Hello bubbym! How are you doing?Welcome to the grid
bubby, do you have the list of clues? click on the tiny green link at the bottom for Lickety's Babble Clues . . . Lickety gives you the first two letters of each word, plus how many letters in the word, plus the word's point value . . . The point value sometimes helps you figure out if you need a word with a high-scoring letter in it, and things like that
Evenin' all!
el+ sometimes vowel + first three letters of the choo choo word
ARTLADY! it's been forever!
Hello artlady! How are you doing?Welcome to the grid
hi, artlady
ty dawg

hi herin....is that icon theme for babble?....the thing is herin i could in my party animal days, but since i've had a baby there is nil opportunity to get glammed up and go out...so out of practice obviously lol

Anyone need any clues before I have to go?
I can't keep track of all the time differences amongst us, LOL,
There's a clock on the net somewhere for that, pam.
I wouldn't worry about it, though.... unless you're planning to 'phone someone.
LOL, Jac, and it is bookmarked at work, but I couldn't just locate it now, the meds have me very spacey and the need to know took over...

Hello jillibus! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid

Hi, jilli. I hope you didn't take your library books into the sea? LOL
Hi harpjane! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
how's the water jill?
I'm good min, i want to finish this one for once!
ra6?
My Other Half's away on hol with his daughter. They didn't go into the sea today as it 'looked a bit brown'. LOL
2nd to8, anybody?
Hi Min -- I give up on the grid -- 88 left. It's been a twisty one but quite fun -- just didn't have time for 222 words
Has the heat abated, harp?
ra6/24 (after the snake) is the kind of noise it makes.
like the chocolate chip cookies, dan
Hey Harpjane, I just clicked on your profile. I almost chose Froot Loops for my cereal. They're my favorite
The water today was warm and weedy -- my last dip on Sunday was clear and cold!
2ndto8 = the garden 'door' you pay at to drive on certain roads.
ra6/24 ends with the sometimes vowel.
ah thanks! that's all the 7's and 8's
Hello dan2bit!How are you doing?Welcome to the grid
Just wanted everyone to see my lovely Canadian cereal :D
thanks! hi all
hi jilli and dan, night everyone, see you tomorrow
I had ASDA's 55% fruit and nut cereal for my icon. But that was yesterday (here) and today is 'the wild, wild West'.
bye lbd
bfn lbd :)
'Night, lbd.
'night, lbd
I know, jac, and I have my wild wild west all ready to go -- shall I put it up now or will you be around for the flip?

Goodbye lbdawger! I will see you tomorrow in the log!
ra6/24?
jilli - LOL! Just seen your new icon.
I got a laugh tooo, jac!
ra6/24 = ra6/18 with last letter knocked off and replaced by sometimes vowel.
jilli - they're only baby dreadlocks.
jac, we have plenty of the full-blown kind here, on all colours of people :)
but none so wild as these!
Seeing them reminds me of how my Mum once described my electrician... 'He has blond dreadnoughts.' Hmmm, he winced at the thought of all those very heavy warships hanging off his scalp.
LOL jac!
LOLOL
Does anyone have a clue for the me 8/65 word please
thanks jac
My late gran (Mum's Mum) was the real Mrs. Malaprop. She used to mis-say all sorts, with hilarious results.
adverbial form of the me6/27 before it, min
me8/65 - very sparingly/ not enough .
me6/27 has two variant spellings, use the second one
thanks, dan
and jac and jilli
:D pam
My gran once asked us if we'd tried 'that new bionic washing powder yet'... that was when biological washing powder first came out.
still can't monkey ly6 and second ly5
Thank you for the me 8/65 clue.Just found the word!
she sounds like a lot of fun, jac!
My gran also said, back in the late 60s, that my aunt had 'one of those new castanet recorders'. Cassettes had just come out then.
ly6/24 is ly + ra 4/4 word and ly5/14 is ly plus double cross letter plus first vowel dan2bit.
ly6 -- ly + ra4/4
ly6 = ly + a word for 'speed' or level of pay.
tx min!
have a great day/night all! Thanks for putting up with my med-induced spaciness....
and all!
ly6 is gy6/30 with a different first letter.
ttfn pam -- feel better soon!
'Night, pam. Sleep well.
thanks, jac and jilli. "just" a headache...

Uh, yes, Owl, I met, buddy, pal, chum...
LOL
Jacula, TY...TY...TY
