the wizard of oz was on tv tonight but i only saw the very end :(
GW- My son and I watched it on tv tonight ( snap Carra)
there was an article in the paper in TO about using that flag pin to hold the poppy on - otherwise, they're so easy to lose
I hope somebody reads the profile

hi ata! i knew the mention of howl's would bring you into the chat. :-)
48 words to go.
yw dee....ss fran, next en you find

I just saw that in the credits Grey, which I thought was fantastic because most of those types of stories are done on Japanese stories.

yw
you liked Howl's Atalante? saw it for first time tonight & was enthralled

there are a lot more wonderful Miyazagi films, Mom1 - Grave of the Fireflies, Kiki's Delivery Service, The Cat returns etc
47 to go. i'm gone for awhile. have fun
I know, Mom01 -- I actually found the book in the local thrift store and grabbed it... it was a great read
But Howls is the best. Along with Kiki's

135 10s
hi!
anate
thanks

aloy, just read your story, so cute! and very cute grandchild too. :-)

What I love about Totoro is that you don't have to translate it to understand it -- and it is a fun one for kids to watch
th8 is not very cheery.. has to do with death
got it! thanks aloy!
thanks -- got the th from your tip, Ata
I agree, GW

i must admiit i was surprised when it was accepted ... when i put it in the right box!!
:-)
good on you herin, healthy is the only way to do it, no faffy diets or starvation!
infernal, you'll have to keep us posted on your progress
MVA there is alot of unhealth pro annarexia lj pages. This is one were anyone can look at the writting but you cant bag people out. I have stated plenty that it is not a pro fad diet community.
Fran it will be in that journal
oh, okay
You can look but you cant post unless you are a member and i read the comments first. But yes i will tell you.
I am a real nut when it comes to 'I am 6 foot and weigh 60kilos that kind of thing'. It just isses me off. You need to be healthy to your body height and weight using the body mass index. I dont want but i am fat bull
Good morning all.....
hi flask!
Hi Flask
hi flask!
Hey Fran....like your icon!
Hi all!
thanks flask. :-)
I was looking for an individual one....but couldn't see any.......

hello everyone :)
good morning all
Hi Mr Pres
hi mrp and sprite!
Thats ok Flask im tinkering
hi sprite! (((hugs)))
infern, what are you talking about??
*hugssssss mrP*
infern, what weight and height are you?? cause by what I am reading from the log... you are annorexic... so please let me know if it is wrong.... 6ft and 60 kg?? are you for sure? cause your pictures don't paint that
sweet mrP
OH Gosh no Mr pres you ahve the wrong end of the stick
even now, when you are under so much stress, you care so much about others... you are a dearheart!
oh I am not!!
I am talking about this that i created
http://tinyurl.com/2qt47l
I just had our neighbours over, they are sooooo worried about the neighbours they are going to get! they are panicked! We have been wonderful to them, they are worried that someone of antisocial behaviour will move in
I have created a healthy weight loss community at LJ I was stressing the fact that for me it is important to say your height as well as weight and use the body mass index as i dont want the attitude that comes from other pro weight loss sites that are unhealthy and negative
lol mrP... tell them they can donate to keep you there... ;)
oh! I get it infern! thanks, I was worried you were going to be annorexic and dying
Hello SPrite
too true sprite!
hey lady
No i have put together a site that i showed you. My friends in the states want to lose weight so do i as i am 175cm (5"10) and 111kgs (245 pound)
glad you are taking the healthy approach, lady, looks good! Lots of success.
well infern that is alot of kgs! you need to be about 75kg to be healthy! I admire you for taking that route! good on you!
do I live like a woman on heat?? must ask
I am also overweight, lady... set yourself an obtainable goal, not something like 75 kg... 100 would be great to start wi4! *hug* You will do fine, I know it. And a support group works miracles.
Exactly if we have a page were ever week we write down our stuff then we can see where we want to go. Each week you need a goal. Mine this week is to eat breakfast. Its the same as keeping my depression at bay. Every day pick one thing you like about yourselg
yay lady! That is exactly it! Eating breakfast is ONE major step forward!
don't know the answer to that, mrP... if so, lickety is one helluva lucky man ;)
according to the statistics, healthy weight women get heaps of sex! I must challenge that!!
well, I would be in the unhealthy weight department, but I get heaps of sex anyway.

Ok i just walked into tmi turf
very good, lady. I hope this is going to work out as well as it should. Looks great to me.
I must cook turkey burgers
enjoy
back in a bit
the words "burger" and "diet" don't work
they do... turkey burgers are very low fat
and if they are grilled!
ummm, no... a burger is fat
oh lovely, MVA, and hi :)
does your burger have no bread??
hi sprite!
in a judgemental mood today, mrP ;)
oh yeah! judgement is my middle name... bring it on!!
bread is very good when dieting, actually. Gives energy and body sugars that your body has to make itself from the carbothingies.
I have been suffering from clean house syndrome... I am frightened by what is considered 'clean'... so therefore, what is diet?? obviously nothing with food in it!! right??
LOLLLLL mrP!
crazy woman you... you just made me smile. Thanks.
so food is dirty... ie, cleen environment = food free\! oh well, no food in house means we sell the house cause the house is thin!!
magazines sell models who dont eat and are thin, therefore, a house that is void of furniture and bacteria must be worth more!!
being fanatic when dieting is the surest way to make it go wrong, lol. Not sure about house cleaning though... might help.
oh, we are dieting... no food = no fat = no dirt = nobody living here = beautiful people + breaking the rules + the wonderful life
sprite!! ((((help))))! we are suffering... photos are tomorrow and it is sooooo stressfull, we are ready to die!! ..... bring on the stench of failure....
why do I think chaotic is in this grid?
ahhhhhh darling mrP! I am thinking of you all and sending the best vibes ever to you and yours. You will be fine. The pics will be gorgeous.
Ok you lot i need to sort you out
I don't need sorting out, darling lady, thanks!
mrP, mrP, I found the sea word wi4out prompting this time! Very very first time ever!
There is very little fat in turkey burgers. We all eat whole meal bread in this house.
yay sprite!! is a good word to find!!
that is what I said, lady. And mrP is just being obstinate, since she is totally stressed out.
Poor Mr Pres.
infern, there is very little fat in turkey, however, the burgers are another story :))
I go on the all the foods you want you can have diet
infern, you want a diet that loses weight??
lady, just follow your instincts on the diet thing and ignore mrP, lol. You are doing great.
yes, ignore me! I am ready to implode!!
I promise, I will be normal when this house is sold!!
explode, darling, don't implode. Bring it on. Yell at me. Let me see your passion :)
in the meantime..... AAARRRGGGGHHHH!!
Mr Pres of course i do. But to give you a laugh for far to long i have been stuffing things in my face without looking at what it is
you can type-yell on skype too, if you want to. I am not talking, but we can chat by writing!
Poor MR Pres your house will be lovely dont worry. Is your arm still in a cast sling thingie?
lady, what you are doing is exactly the right way to start dieting. What you want is building a good feeding pattern. Don't let anybody tell you different.
SPRITE,!! I just wanna go crazy!! we have photos and open house!! ready to go mad and stay that way
off to have a shower before breakfast, cooking for 8 this am!
my arm is killing me! I have such little happiness
but you are so pretty when you are mad, mrP! Dont'worry, we will still love you!
wooooot MVA, a challenge that would be for me. Good luck and have fun!
Pout. Mr Pres is your arm in a sling or something that indicates doa,age
the pain is keeping me mad... i don't know how to fix that
and see it from the bright side... some madhouses have such lovely young doctors and they look so good in white.
Hugs the MVA.
Mr PRes i wish i could help you some how pain is yuk
poor mrP, pain sucks big time. Wish I could do something to help with that.
snap, lady :)
I ahve already lost weight. I ditched the 100 odd kilo of dead weight exgirlfriend
LOL lady... fastest and healthiest way to do it!
I tell you what i feel so much healthier i dont feel so horrid
ok, sending two kids home now... sleep over is OVER!
*hugs lady* I hope you can learn to never feel horrid about yourself.
before it should, mrP, or is it really over?
Mr PRes now is not the time to have one to many kids about
Sprite i meant in the sense that i dont have to be constantly negative and bitch and be the fat friend to match her
*seconds lady*
good for you, lady.
I have 41 words left to find all found in my head
I am down to 47 now and I should get started on house chores... I think I will give myself 10 more minutes though.
I love turkey burgers
looks like mrP is kicking some kids out of her house for real :D
Oh dear
looks like at 40 im out of words
38 now to go, and slowing down indeed
I have yet to use more words was hopping to find 5 more
past tense of moving through water was the one I just discovered in the corner :)
thanks got that
ok... 10 more minutes then... down to 35
Go sprite
no way I can find them all in that time, but I SO don't want to go do chores, lol.
so dont
nah, not an option, some things have to be done. Cannot let hubby feel obliged to do it all by himself.
I do 30min to an hour a day no dramas
opps forgot laundry
I have to watch myself while doing chores, it is very easy for me to overdo it and cause my body to suffer for it. But I want to do my part.
Sprite take it easy. Some thigs are really easier to do like the shower whilst in it
oh yes, I know! NOt the oven though.
I use a long ended squeshy mop to get the roof clean in the bath that kinda of thing.
Sprite. Oven clean easy. Just be careful if its electric sprinkle bicarb of soda in there then vinegar like a paste. put newspaper under it and walk away. Get one of the kids or hubby to get out the goo.
lol, I like the last part of that.
ok, 5 minutes more and then I will go do the dishes and fold the laundry
Its non toxic and you dont have to worry about kids getting toxins on them. I use the same thing for the bath. As for dishes i let them soak and do other things
mine are soaking right now, indeed.
drat them for not magically cleaning
you got it :)
I think people are pissy at me for not having dinner done earlier
I have no idea how there can be 20 words from that upper left C. Must be some combination I have not yet thought of. Will think it over while dishwashing and folding laundry, sigh... *hugs* to my dear babblers.
if hey want dinner earlier, they cook it earlier.
yayyyyy one last word before parting... beam me up, sc7!
Yah sptite
good morning everyone:)

Hi even
it's suspiciously quiet here today...
YEs it is
Hi herin & marmar - I'm lurking quietly
Hi Deb
this is a big day in Germany. 11.11. It's the day we celebrate St. Martin and there are great festivals all week with all the children who make little lanterns and go all together at dusk through the village singing St. Martin songs and end up at a big bon fire and have cocoa and brotchens. It's really sweet.
It was here too. Its Rememberance Day.
It's also the begining of the "Fasching" preparations and celebrations (Fasching is our Mardi Gras or Fat Tuesday) They are wild about Fasching here. I didn' t grow up here so I don't really get into it much.
Oh, I think it's veterns day in the States too. Or tomorrow...
its coming up to 11am here so i am going to flick the TV on and watch the service - bbl
Hi Scary
my house mate is being a dick

I was happy to see that "hate does not exist in the puzzle" Peace, all.

Hello again Sprite
Hi Sprite! How are you doing today?
I am so sorry you hurt so much, Scrabbler. Hope it will be better soon. *hug* (gently though)
an 6 -- add a lawyer: ****rney; pl
TY, Sprite. At least I know my pain is short-term, unlike others with chronic, intractable pain.
TY, BR
My monkes would not have found those for quite some time.
*monkeys, or even The Monkees
good old monkees
I love "Daydream Believer"
oh yes :D
co 7-- add an organized decision to refrain from dealing with or buying from. the group boy*****d Wal-mart for example
Oh my gosh Joan Rivers is hysterical
TY, BR--another new one for me
Sometimes she can be a bit much for me, Lady
Crass yes but she is dang funny
garlic in dutch is knoflook... somehow that phantom keeps bugging me.
One liner i have to share " Bush is in trouble for his faulty intelligence."
Aha, Sprite. Interesting.
if that remarks is meant sarcastically, I completely understand :) Just wanted to share my misery.
No, really, it is interesting. I often see German and Italian words in the grid and have to remind myself to not type them in.
Morning all. My phantom 10 mins into grid is 'confetti'. Mind you, I was at a wedding yesterday.
the funny thing is, sometimes they ARE valid. No telling which is and which isn't beforehand though :)
HI Jac how are you
Hi Jacula
hey Jac! *hug* Was it nice?
Yes, now I see confetti too.
It was lovely. We had the reception on a boat cruising down the river Severn.
Good Morning and Veteran's Day
hi Merk
wow, that sounds good indeed
How wonderful, Jacula.
Hi Merk
I left vietnam 36 years ago today
Hi, Merk.
Wow babble
Hi Merk
I find that I am at a loss for words on that, BabbleRabble. Can I just say I am very glad to have you with us today?

BabbleRabble, how are you feeling today? Is it a tough day for you?
Where is the 8 today?
I was checking e-mail. BR, TY for your military service to the USA. The course of your life and others was altered due to your service.
th8/45, Merk.
I have a lots of memories running through my mind ... the fact that war never really ends is one
I wish you peace and comfort, BR.
ty, does it build on something?
that's what I was thinking... you said you left Vietnam, but 'Nam probably never left you completely... and war is of all times. Thinking about it is already painful to me... can't imagine how painful it must be for you and all that have lived it.
I found th8--TY, Sprite.
well done Scrabbler
Babble my friends boy is 13 and is in the Air force cadets. He was standing on guard and he had a fly up his nose.
I don't know how to describe th8, except it sounds Greek and I believe the root is related to death.
if you have the an7, start th and drop one of the double consonants.
my family comes home, I have to be afk for a while. BabbleRabble, just want to let you know I care. You are a very special person. Thanks for being you.
I am going to try to sleep again. BBL
good luck, Scrabbler

Afternoon Carlee....how are you?
hiya carlee!
well.... honestly????
yes!!!!
my daughter has started fainting.... all weekend long....so on top of hubby being home...I am totally freaked out about my daughter who has NEVER fainted before..nor is fainting a "family" thing
maybe its a nervous reaction carlee?
OMG!......Have you sought medical help?
THAT is my hope
monday..will call dr as he know whole story
how old is she.....is she eating properly?
i think it is very possible, specially if she is picking up all the stress levels
11 and yes
yes....Evan could be right....it could very well be a cut off switch for stress....
i am hoping so
but still need blooswork done to be sure
bloodwork* sorry
if it is, i'm sure it's temporary and can be managed with drugs, but she's also at that age where seizure can sometimes happen
she just collapsed inkitchen...
and puberty too.......that can wreak havoc with our bodies...
didn't know what happened
then... later she said she couldn't see...
i think you'll find a logical answer that will put your mind at ease carlee
I got her to set down. head bettwen knees and I think she just faded to black for a split second
hey, she can't see, what about a migraine?
siezires don't put my mind at ease tho
no pain....just fade to black
i think her dr will sort it out, cause you got babblers sending her the positive vibes
No...they're not the best thing to have......perhaps she should curl up on the settee for the day....
i don't NEED more....
Carlee...you're strong.....you'll get thro' this.....and we thinking of you
thanks... I know... I will look back onthis as a growth experience...but..crapola
you're right, you will.....again its all part of lifes rich tapestry!
And she will be fine......fainting is just an indication that something needs attending to...

I think you may be a garnet, Hurshy. Garnet's powers include healing, strength, and protection and it is often worn to relieve inflammations of the skin. It is also believed to regulate the heart and blood flow and aid in curing depression. In earlier times, garnets were exchanged as gifts between friends to demonstrate their affection for each other and to insure that they meet again.

one's life is not complete unless one knows the greek word for death - so everyone make sure to remember it today
It really is. You probably get more of a rrrr at the beginning than I do, though.

FMitch and Ata can explain.
Hazel is Chief of Babble Police
So many hats....
I'll go click around and see what I can find...

Is it the sc7 dog?
The DoD is my pet coffee mug that Ata gave me., it's in the form of a little back dog. the rest is too long to explain :)
Jings, aye! The wee black terrier.
OK. Think I've got it then!
Hoots, mon
How are you Haz?
I'm well, FMitch, cheered by babble.
that monstrous dog eludes me still...
Then think of Captain Kirk on Star Wars '\Beam me up ?
Capt Kirk said, ""Beam me up, Sc7."
We've given some hints with our sc------ accents, montreal!
Glad to hear that . monty - a clue could also be "beam me up ....." I think.
AAAAAAAAAAAHHHH, Hazel and I shared a thought at the same time. Synchronicity. Scary stuff going on across the pond.
And before the howls begin, I know he wasn't on Star Wars.
Oh Return of the Jedi has just started (talking of Sci Fi as I was).

The neighbours are complaining!

And, according to my history teacher, Nelson didn't say 'Kiss me, Hardy' - in fact he said 'Kismet (fate) Hardy.'

what are the two different dictionaries on scrabulous?
Atalante, you will be as surprised as I was this morning, when suddenly a file called Copy My Pictures appeared in my documents. The pictures are all there, but where were they in between???
I'll look, movieman
exactly where do you play these other games?
well!!! how intriguing, Inge!
are you Koustav, movieman?
Nope, I'm movieman!!!!
I think we need to be friends before we can play?
bbl
got any breadcrumbs, movieman?
so i am watching movieman play in scrabulous
how did you find him, bb?
i went to the room he is playing in. clicked on "live games" and then double clicked on his name
it has been a long time since i played scrabble so this is interesting
how did you get to the room? I searched for Scrabbulous and it just gives me a list of people's profiles
scrabulous.com
one b not two
then it should give you a list of rooms. you will need to scroll down to scrabble paradise
however it seems quite confusing to me
Scrabulous is not part of facebook?
i found it via the link i gave you. i don't have facebook. i am old and out of the loop
but i did find movieman
BB if your old I must be ancient! LOL!
nah chic. i am coming to tucson next week to pick up the horses from the fairgrounds.
cool!
what part of town are you in?
SE near Golf Links and Harrison
so somewhat near the fairgrounds?
I'm close to Houghton and that's a straight shot to the fairgrounds, south
I stay in Benson now as the Red Roof (where I used to stay) is a bit dodgy.
are you doing a horse show? we should use our IM's.
i am headed to the barn right now but will look for you later to talk okay?
ok good deal my IM is always on just holler with one of the audibles
all of that and I can't get the game room to open in scrabulous
I just need the sc above the sc to move along
help?

go nan
Hi, nan
Vicuna, ki4/9 is like ki** and kin...
just change the last letter of the 4/8
*~*!*~* ta da *~*!*~*
Thank God for Lickety!
Congrats, nan!
see you later all -- must go and prepare a late lunch for the returning golfer! :)
I don't understand how to use Lickety
how so robwhy?
click on lickety , click on click here if you dont see clues. it will show a list of each letter in the alphabet, how many of each letter are in the grid . it will tell you the first 2 lettrs of the word, how many letters in a word and the point value
how do you use the check boxes? bulk/add?
I don't use the bulk add, so I can't help with that. but if you put a word into the "add word" box, if it's in the grid, it will put it in its proper place; if not, the word will just stay in the "add word" box
for bulk add, the way i use it, when you have a long list of words in your list on the main puzzle page, put
clue for th 8, anyone?
your aarrow next to the ? press the shift key. scroll down to end of list. put arrow next to end of last wordin list. right click hit copy. go to lickety scroll to first empty box in the bulk add area right click hit paste, hit add bulk
greek (?) god of death
did that help robwhy
ty
yw shirlockc
hey, peeps
how about the last co ?
Hi, tyger
dont have it yet sorry
everybody seems to be concentrating on the clues :) how are you today, jellen?
the last, co6/21, is a plural of the preceding co5
I'm okay, tyger. A little preoccupied with pet problems. And you?
still preoccupied with computer problems, I'm afraid
care to talk about the pet problems? I got a nice, comfy shoulder :)
and a dry towel, if needed ;)
My 13-year-old dog had a stroke this weekend. Doesn't have an appetite. Going to try to get her to a specialist this week.
ooooooooo. so sorry
how functional is she? breed? size?
That is horrible Jell
thx tyger
yw, shirlock
Still trying to adjust to having a cat with diabetes. Now this.
oh- hi everyone
Hi, DR.
hi, dr
i'm so sorry jell
hi
Dr
We went thrudiabetes with our schnauzer
you know the old saying about ït never rains, but it pours
hi dr
still got the schnauzer, dr?
Hi Angel- how are you
Sadly Tyger- we do not. She died but she had diabetes for 2 or 3 years
im good ... and you
She's mobile, although she doesn't have full control on one side. Afraid she's going to have a bad fall. She insists on going down to the basement to her room.
I assume managing a dog with diabetes isn't too different from managing a person with it?
I am good ANgel. Still nursing my broken toe but it is really not that bad now
how big is the dog, jellen?
Yes, special diets and shots twice a day
She's a pit bull mix.
dr, sorry to hear about the toe, I understand those hurt miserably (got a friend who's done it several times)
thanks Tyger- It has been about 2 weeks
a pit bull mix should still be late middle age, from my understanding (depends on mix, tho, I suppose)
brb- laundry
That's what we're trying with my cat, DR. I bought a blood glucose monitor, but haven't started using it yet.
does she weigh too much to carry up and down?
oh well im glad your feeling a little better my mom has been in bed all day because she is very sick
I dare say managing a diabetic cat could be more challenging than a diabetic dog
She'd be a challenge at any time for me, but I'm recovering from pneumonia right now.
oh, well, then you've fulfilled the "troubles come in 3s" I think :P
Cats' blood sugar levels are more volatile, I think.
sounds likely, given cats being obligate carnivores
and then there's the issue of pills or insulin, cats being so easy :P to medicate (NOT!)
ok, I'm sorry, but "tanga" is a certain cut for women's underpinings. like bikini or brief.
hi tizer
hi betn hi jellen hi cubfan995
Actually, he's pretty good about getting shots.
Hi, tizer and redshoes
oh? then you lucked out
how are tizer?
hi tizer
hellooooooo

Hi, carlee
hello carlee
hi joso, ren and jellen (hugs)
hi tyger
okay, here goes the other Ike quote (it's long), my next entry
YAY jellen!!!
we all wait wit baited breath
"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. This is not a way of life at all in any true sense. Under the clouds of war, it is humanity hanging on a cross of iron." (Dwight D. Eisenhower, President, 1953-61)
did I forget to say hi to carlee?
how true...
hi jilli :o)
WOW! Too bad a certain president didn't heed that
my Veterans Day contribution :)
anyone watch lou dobbs on cnn?
bridezilla's on - yeah yeah yeah
Ike was alot better than most people give him credit for, first to talk of the dangers of the militay/industrial complex
too bad indeed, jilli he and others in govt should have gone to war as young men, instead of ducking out. then they wouldn't have wanted to play at it later
my mom's older brother fought in both WW 1 and WW2, My dad's youngest brother fought in WW2. 2 cousins were in Vietnam
lou dobbs has been SHREDDING bush left right and centre on lou dobbs tonight..am not a big fan but its fun watching the fall out
I'll try to catch Lou -- again, I'm not a huge fan, but....
clues, anyone?
jilli? :)
I find him... way too opinionated...but it is fun watching a reporter just rip bush to pieces
Tyger, that's quite a family!
not a fan of louie ither, but anyone who shreds Bush cann't be all bad
my uncle was on the burial details at hilter the butt's concentration camps - he never got over it - where do you say who is a hawk and who is a dove - remembrance is not to bash - but to remember
I'm proud of them :)
cl words (2,3,4)
and thanks!
Carlee, some time ago I saw a clip of Cheney BEFORE Iraq, saying it would be foolish to go in there because the aftermath would be a disaster.
cl5/20 is cl4/5 + o*ay
got it, and the plural
cl6/33 is plural of preceding cl5
and yet cheney was on a committee specifically put together before bush was even in office about seeking out war in iraq
cl5/20 sound made when you hit an empty head with 2x4 (like Bush)
cl5/12 is cl4/5 plural
I had a Brit cousin who was a conscientious objector in WW2 -- he drove ambulances and such -- was at the discoveries at Belsen -- it affected the rest of his life.
next clue needed?
thanks for the clues
yw

six left and all 'co' words: co5/14 (first one)?
ag is about how a word relates to another, not a cog****, but the other one

co5, plural
A co 5/14 word is + of the co 4/6 word before it momof5
1st co is source of that drug crack is made from
Hi, Min

There is no good war or bad peace, said Ben Franklin
See you all at the flip - poof
worth repeating, pam!
LOL, sorry, jilli and all
:)
he was at least mostly right. OTOH, WW2 was a result of the greed of the Allies at the end of WW1
I think some wars are good, some should be fought, like wwII, can you imagine a unified natzi Europe
Yes, that is true-ish, tyger!!!!
still hoping for a sw5/22 clue (and a so5/16 too)
sw + boom -er- r***
If UK & France hadn't been determined that Germany should pay ruinous damages, they wouldn't have spawned Hitler - nor would we have the problems in the Middle East their greed for colonies also spawned. They promised independence, and then took them over. (shakes head)
past tense of what you do with a rubber tire and a tree
I am a pacifist, joso, so like Carter, I will be vilified for wanting to talk it out, though, I understand that all of the capitulation in Europe led to the disaster. I so admire the Netherlands--all donned the yellow star when the king did, an dthe fishermen and women risked life and limb to hekp people escape
so5/16 so4/7 + first letter
so5/16: so4/7 + 1st vowel
Colonialism just bites, tyger. And the ramifications of that greed are being felt in Northern Africa, too.
I greatly admire them too
ty again tyger
yw, jilli
All the Dutch people I have met I have liked very much
"winner takes all" is a vile conceit...
I've written essays about how much we're all suffering now, thanks to the greed of the winners of WW1. hardly anyone understands how it all happened
I just got fireworks! My niece is very impressed with me!
congrats, MIN
Congrats, Min!!
<POMPOM TOSS> for min....yippee !!!!!!!

She fell for it, but a bit skeptical
so true
you/they/someone is southern??
Hi everyone!
I don't know where she got the idea for the name but it's been a fav of hers.

hey, carra
NOt Czech, but Ukranian
Hi Tyger
an 6/7 clue?
aha. I was sure it was some kind of Slav
If she went for a hyphenated name it would have been Konerding-Czerepacha
an6/18: an + I'm ** home + going ** work
oh, my stars, bichon. I'm so glad for the baby they didn't do that
an7 is plural of the an6
thanks :)
she'd be cursing forms for the rest of her life
yw, carra
they don't give enough room for really long names
just think when she gets married and throws in her maiden name also
when I was a kid, we went to church with a family whose name was Paciorca (or something like that, not entirely sure anymore). They changed their name to Pack.
don't want to think about that, crpw. LOL
clues, anyone? 3 minutes left
My maiden name was Fellner. NObody ever can spell Konerding
not surprised, bichon, but it could be worse. :) look how hard everybody finds the various Slavic names.
that looks like a babble word
Konerding is German, I assume
or some related Germanic ancestry?
Have you ever heard the joke? Do you like Kipling? No, don't think I've ever Kippled. It's like that.
as is Fellner? :)
Hubby is German, but Fellner is a German name too.
ROFL
I think it's about time for me to go. I got stuff I *must* do. See y'all later, or maybe not till tomorrow (lotsa stuff).

Hello, Harp.
i'll be replaced by a nice shiny candy, i can't eat me...but i'll be very desireabel
as long as you smack me and not flush me :)
don'tcha love my spelling?
Nut, that's not a very nice greeting for ren.LOL
ren - nut is now a piece of candy. Do you want to bite her head off?
that's how sisters greet each other...
we're on drugs - we don;t care how you smell...er spell
is she a chocolate bunny?
i'm not on drugs...i even ditched my prozac

There was a harp in here... I heard her strings tw5/22.

y/w, nut.
i wonder why wild thang isn't a word - there's a wild thang in the chat...
I'm done if you want clues. I only came in to change my icon.

Yes, ren, I tried 'thang'.
thanks for the tw, jac

There's a wh5/24 slang word for a man's 'sword' in the grid, too.
jeez jille, what'd ren do you you?
I meant that was the 8 letter word, ren, lol
The 8 letter word is a th6/45 and it's Grrek for death-wish.
he he he...thanks jac
could someone give me a clue for any E? I'm not allowed to look on the list until I have at least one from every space!
last co 5.12
such strange self inflicted rules
my rule is not to finish
en5/12 - to play something out (en + what a thespian does), harp.
That was Greek NOT Grrek! LOL
lol evan, i follow your rules every now and then! thanks jac
grrek looks co**er

hehe ren ;)
Ren - enough geeks here already! LOL
ty
y/w, carra.
there are never enough geeks
geeks will rule the world
You reckon, joso?
wouldn;t you like to be a geeker too be a geeker
i wanna be a geek survivor
Do we have to 'beware Geeks bearng gifts'?
what's the difference between a geek and a nerd?
we need a new gsg episode
we are working on it now, first control the comunications
i just wrote begging for a new one and it bounced back to me ren, maybe you should write
ok
easy bichon, geeks are kinda cool, nerds are mean
bichon - I don't know. What is the difference beween a Geek and a nerd? (Assuming this is the start of a joke.)
soon we mandate all to wear star trek uniforms
no, I'm asking for real
all hail Bill Gates
sorry joso, i'll have to be booted from the geek club then
[2ns] oc5
I think nerd is a sub class of geek, those that wear pocket protectors
geeks don't have to be intelligent bichon
doh
Oh, right, bichon. Ermmm.. there's probably a definition somewhere but I'd say a geek is someone clever who is totally absorbed in their field of whatever it is they enjoy and a nerd is the same but not so clver and a little more socially inept. Something like that, anyway. i.e. Zack from 'Bones' is a Geek.
do geeks wear uncool clothes?
nut and i have pocket protectors - we've always been sub human
anyone have the an6 and an7?
sorry joso
mine is a pink rhinestone studded pocket protector
mine is faux leopard w/ rhinestones
guess who i saw the other day ren, raelite - you and i have to read her blog in babblecast i think
just found a superfluous phantom -- confetti
and Chuck from 'Chuck' is a nerd....a little cooler than a geek
an6 & plural 7 = the lipstick tree.
i think so nut - i miss her
sorry, don't know what a lipstick tree is.....

Hi, again--been wandering...

no...nerds are smart and cool....geeks smart and uncool
yepper, jac!
an + tom****; fruit disguised as a veggie
ninja battles?
who wants the last word? The th5/12 after death...
no, geeks don't have to be smart, they can be gamers and trekkies, nerds are smart, unsociable, and mean spirited
hi everyone
hi dawg
hi dawg
hey dawg
hey dawg
my hubby is both geek and nerd then...lol
hi, dawg
jilli - it's a Scottish word.
hi lbd
with the exception of the mean spirited part
Think MacBeth.
but the nerds on revenge of the nerds weren't meanspirited, and the Geeks in the Geek Squad are smart
ok, not all nerds are mean spirited...
lid, i don't know what your experience has been with geek squad had been, but ours has been a waste of time
Hi, lbd.
um, although I'm a Scot by background I'm not really up on the language
original geek was a freak, specificly carny act that bit heads off of live chickens
amen to that nutty.
*chants* aaah men
If my memory serves me correctly, lbd, 'dawg' and 'dawger' were in yesterday's grid but neither were allowed.:(
2nd oc 5.12
Linux nerd: installs Linux and uses it. Linux geek: fixes the bugs, sends bug fix patches to authors, patches appear in the next version. Fitness nerd: runs a 5K every now and then, and everbody within earshot hears about it. Fitness geek: turns down social events because they conflict with Sunday 8:00 am schedule. Science nerd: reads Scientific American Science geek: works in a lab
geek squad...means u've called this city...the telecentre is here
yeah, i saw that Jac. so unfair
co5/14 and co6/21 anyone?
Although Remembrance Day is international, we must remember Veterans' Day is USAS only
that's according to nerdculture.com
I am not getting the lipstick tree--thought there were two consonants following the first letter...
hahahhahahah harp!
jilli - It's a Scottish lord (not a laird - who is a landowner). There was a th5 of Cawdor in Macbeth.
no, really, I mean geekculture.com
oooooh, nerdculture
hi harp! lol
pam - the double consonant in the lipstick tree comes before the final vowel at the end.
i love bernard the elf
pam reduce the 2 to 1
thanks, jac...

yayayy carra!!!
Congrats, carra.
I was watching a drama called 'My Son Jack' earlier, starring Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) as Rudyard Kipling's son Jack who died in WW1. It was very moving.
YAY carra!!!
Oh Jac, I didn't know about that
Well, it was once I'd stopped seeing 'Jack' as 'Harry' and Kim Cattrell (who played his Mum) as 'Samantha' from 'Sex & The City'.
jilli - you can watch it on the itv website and a dvd will be out soon.
jac, I hope you've ploughed your way through my profile for today
Hmmm - ITV website...
LOL, Jac...
jilli - go to http://www.itv.com/ and look for 'My Boy Jack'. (Not son.)
jilli - No re the profile. Will do it now, ma'am!
jac, I know you don't do Corrie any more but do you know or can you find out why Mike Plowman's Visual Updates can no longer be seen for the Canadian dates?
Erm - I can try jilli though I've never heard of Mike Plowman.
does anyone wear socks that match?
unfortunately i do ren
does anyone see your socks?
jill i - just checked and the page isn't available at present.
ren - I do.
i do
he has a site -- CSVU.net
i have 11 pairs of socks that don't match - i'll just wear them
ren, I'm so tight-assed I wear socks that match
Oh jilli, just come back from your bio. What a beautiful poem.

yayayay one banana two bananna three banana four!
I've just change my icon to show a pic of me at my friend's wedding on Saturday 10th Nov. I'm wearing 3 poppies (2 in my hair and one on my lapel). There's a poppy for each member of my family lost in WW1. My paternal grandad's 2 brothers and my maternal greatgrandad's brother (whose brass officers' whistle I still have).
YAY banana!!!
So, if any of you who want to see the pic would care to refresh, press F5 and there I am in the middle of the photo.
Well done, banana.
ty all
Oh Jac, that's a really great tribute!
i see you mistress! nice remembrance!
this croc hunter vid is great guys - http://tinyurl.com/yulphx
Nice, Jac
The theme colour of the wedding seemed to be red and white and blue anyway. The bridge wore a dark red dress and many of us wore poppies.
Good for the bridge, LOL
The bridge? LOL! There was a blue and white bridge where we got on the boat for the wedding cruise up the River Severn but I did mean the BRIDE wore red. LOL
a clue for the ti 5?
Interesting bridal colour choice *pondering*
jilli - 2nd wedding.
Old schoolfriend - known her 39 years.
bich9on, first part of my kennel name (see my flickr pix)
bichon - ti5 is a giant.
thought as much, jac -- scarlet woman? (no offence)
ty Jac
jilli - no, just a mature woman now confident with a man who's good to her.
aw, bichon -- didn't look at my pix?
just kidding about the obvious, jac
jilli - I know.xx
co7/36 please
sounds as if she made a great choice
co7/36 is another spelling for a flirt (normally spelled with a 'que' in it.
Jili, yu grow Dahlias? So do I. Love them
co7 -- speaking of scarlet women......
And you grow Great Danes?
ty- that was fireworks for me
bichon, I'm a newcomer since the deer fence!
jilli - I only met him for first time a the wedding but he seems a lot nicer than hubby #1 whom she married in '76.
Congrats, lideola.
Used to, bichon!
yayayya lid!!!
YAY lid!!!
jilli - I never like her #1 hubby - he had shifty eyes! LOL
Deer eat Dahlias? I'd better watch out. So far they're only after my hostas
ty : )
Yay, Lid!
"Love is lovelier...the second time around..." they say (sing)
Deer here eat almost EVERYTHING
jilli - that's what I told her after the ceremony, which she just about got through without crying. Her son and daughter were crying as they accompanied her down the aisle (if aisle is what you call it in a registery office).
Where do you get your Dahlias? I used to get them from Canada until the inspetion fee got too high
2nd 2nd wedding of an old schoolfriend I've been to this year. They say things come in threes. Wonder who'll be next? They'll have to get in quick before the year end.
goodnight all
Also wondering which of my other old friends whose name begins with 'S' it might be that will be marrying a man whose name begins with 'G'. Had Sheila marrying Gary in the summer and Sue marrying Guy yesterday. LOL.
'Night, lid.
Anyway, that rules me and Paul out for this year! Lol.
it could change to j and p mistress
LOL, jac
ren - Paul and I watched a programme on SkyTravelExtra last week about the best beaches in the world for naturist weddings. We looked at each other and said, 'Well that would cut down on the cost of outfits!' It would no doubt cut down the amount of guests (but everyone would want to see the photos!) LOL.
bichon, these came from a local nursery called Fraser's Thimble Farm, but I was at the Seattle Garden Show in Feb and there was a HUGE exhibit there -- ask stidmama
We then had a fiendish idea about pretending we were planning to marry in either Hawaii or Crete on a beach in the nude, except that body painters would be on hand to paint whatever outfit guests required. Only hats and flowers and handbags would be allowed for real. Tried the joke out on our kids. They were horrified! ROFLOL.
hahahahha mistress!!!!! they make a sun screen 70 now!
we couls all wear body paint moo moos
ren - my daughter was more concerned about where she's sit down 'in case someone without pants on' had sat there before her.
Yes, fiedish, jac -- ROFL!
we could have disposable doilies for the seats
Kids these days really hate it if they think their parents are more daring than they are.
*grins*
however - if the paint on our butt is wet - the doilies would stick to us
Must remember to buy myself that Rosie Nieper t-shirt 'You're not having fun unless you're embarrassing your children'.
cute picture, ren!
or boring the adult grandkids :(
jilli - Oh dear! Are they straitlaced, too?
i think the only people who bore me are peeps so full of themselves they forget to laff :)
they just live in another world (waddaya mean, straitlaced? Cos my socks are boring?)
jilli - no, I meant straitlaced like my kids are. LOL. You're not straitlaced!
I have moo-moo socks of all kinds, and flowery hippy-type ones, and bunny ones. Hardly ever wear socks though. I'm a bare-footed hippy most of the time.
Well, I didn't think so -- but my kid and his wife APPEAR to be straitlaced -- in front of me...
Ah, jilli! That's another matter altogether. They don't want to shock YOU. LOL. If only they knew? Eh?
Too right, mate!
As far as our kids are concerned we 'ancient ones' never did anything shocking. And so the world keeps turning...
Except that wifie comes out with eminem language all the time (she teaches high school) but has no sense of humour about it
Oh, I hate bad language with no good reason. That's one of my 'bugbears'... that and littering.
Oh, and spitting. Hate that, too. Once finished with a boyfriend because he kept gobbing everywhere. YUK!
i hate cussing and spitting
UGH! I remember having to dodge spit globs on the pavements in S h'ai...
Back to the wedding I was at... when I first got together with Sue (the bride) her parents didn't approve of me because I smoked, wore short skirt and 'saw boys'. LOL. Her Mum looked delighted to see me on Saturday, told me I hadn't changed a bit in looks and still had the same 'cheeky grin'. Felt a bit weird, someone's Mum telling me that now I'm 50. LOL. Nice, though.
and chewing gum smacking and chewing gum on the ground - and big - ol hunks of chaw someone spit out
I'm happy to report that my dear son does NOT use that kind of language willy-nilly but is not stuffy -- he is a Bob Dylan worshipper
that was nice of her mistress!
Another thing I hate is noisy eaters... they chew stuff with their mouths open. EURGH!
and spray food particles on ya! ew ew ew ew ew

ren - I must save your post about Paul. He'll be delighted. *big grin*
evening folks! can I please get a clue for TH 8? I am guessing a compound word?
hey phan
phan - not really. th8/45 is a Greek word for death wish. Kind of hard to clue without spelling it out.
no phan but i got it from the definition, using my meager greek skills
evenin' all
hey jes!!!
pahn - you know it begins th and Greek endings are often a 'bone' word (a 2-letter word).

no jacs, what do i have to do? i played the old site last night, but the server is down now. the play was a one woman show about the life of st. catherine of sienna. she accomplished an awful lot for a woman in a time when women had few rights
Hi ren and Jac and Harp and Jas
oh and TO
I am here to tell you were i am
Ah, hang on TO and I'll find you the new site. I joined it about 3 weeks ago. It's a bit more confusing than the original.
i can't figure the co7 with the french ending.
TO - it seems to be on a go-slow or down right now.
where are you herin?
I am outside with the laptop on the comfy chair
co7 = co4/6 (Ms. Chanel) + double consonant + vowel.
co7: "prostitute," 1867, from Fr., originally child's name for "hen."
sweet! herin
got it. i kept trying ette.......
Seeing Herin's pic - it seems she is dancing with wolves.
evening all! could I get a clue for the first sc5/12? please and thank you!
jac if we had wolves i would have one
ok peeps - i must go now. see you alltomorrow!
Mmmn, as did we all, unless we'd been donating rice, jasmine.
I am wolf spirit girl
hi jen!
bye jen!
hey TO, bye TO!
ahhh, nevermind, got it
herin - they are thinking of introducing wolves back into the wild here in UK. Bad idea (for both wolves and man, methinks, these days!) Wild boar are already back in the wild here, and they WILL be a problem as they progress. There are big cats here, mostly black panthers, but they rarely bother us ...
I've seen a black panther 3 times in about 30 years.
If an animal is native to an area then there needs to be serious research as to whether its reintroduction is a good idea
'Night, TO.
does anyone know how to turn off the alarm on a Sharper Image - World Time Swivel Clock with Temperature and Calendar???
herin - I agree!
Sorry, ren, not me.
Try pressing 'escape' button?
Well i will be back in a couple of hours i seriously need to do study. Ren instructions read them? pull out the batteries um defenestration?
Oh, and the debate about culling badgers due to transferral of TB from them to cattle is on again.
Take all the winows out?
*windows
herin - instructions - lo 4
Ren - hit it with a hammer.
*covers ears and waits for explosion*
considering hammer
Ren - is this an alarm on a site on yourpc or a clock in your house?
If it's a clock in your house, either take the batteries out or HIT IT WITH A HAMMER.
Hi everyone
Ren, you can email sharperimage.com and ask them your question
If it's on your pc, then press the 'OFF' button and worry about the unscheduled finish later.
Hi, all
Hello,. mymuse.
it's in the house - i turned it off - it goes off every night and the operating manual is lo4
hi Jellen, Jac
Hi jellen. And My
hi herin
ren - does it have batteries?

Bye, herin
Hi again, Jellen and anyone I missed.

hey muse
hi babblers

Hiya, ping.
Hi, Ping!
hey ping!
Hi jellen - you've got my favorite jellen icon back!
Hi rennie and mus
e
greetings, jacula
not too many left! time to have a sleep... see you all soon :) *poof*
lol
mrp!
hi and bye mrp
hi bye!
can someone tell dcsain when he or she arrives that the other person he/she was trying to remember that brought up the spelling out clues thing, other than Haz and Sprite was ME?
Yes, Molly is on my mind. She had an apparent stroke this weekend.
oh no!
will she survive it?
I would also like to say that Sprite was not being rude, just stating her point of view. Nuff said for now and no more need be said. I just needed to say it, as I've not been really here for a day or two.
(((jelle)))
hi rennie
I'm going to take her to the vet hospital for a full work up this week if I can. She's pretty functional.
i missed something somewhere
me too apparently
j's dog had a stroke
j = jellen
hope she's okay
sorry to hear that jell, hope s/he is ok
hope puppster is ok jelle
mistress - i'm viewing the wedding pictures
who got married?
There's a good chance of recovery from the stroke. Just want to see if there's an underlying problem.
Ren & Muse - you could scroll back on 2 days' logs and then have your Firefox freeze on you. You could go back even further, when I said same as Sprite, Ata, Haz etc and got told to 'stuff it' or sopmething like that. It doesn't matter. It's all part of life's rich tapestry and not worth freezzing your pc over.
let us know the results, okay?
Ren - are you enjoying the pics? Have I showed the bride's train which everyone on the boat kept stepping on?
Will do. :-)
that's some burgundy dress sue is wearing mistress! is that gold on the front?
"thang" is not a word?
i don;t see the train - just the bride and groom and then the front view of the dress
Ping - one of my old schoolfriends got married, 2nd this year. I was musing earlier on the fact that first couple were Sheila & Gary, 2nd couple Sue & Guy. Things come in 3's, I then thought... which S & G will be next afopre the close of 2007?
Ren - that's gold on the front (and on the back, too).
maybe it will be a wedding in a movie or the news
keep eyes pealed (or peeled?)
There was whalebone (or modern equivalent) in the corset and it wwasn't half giving her gyp!
Ping - peeled is the word.
ty - how do you remember that?
grammar school education, Ping. Forget at your peril! (LOL)
LOL - but good for you!
Pealing is what bells do, whilst peeling is something you knife off a fruit.
and i asked you to knife off your eyeball, eh?
i might ought to take that back!
2 days ago as in friday mistress?
hello babblers!
hey hk!
Hi, hk
hahahah knifing the eyeball - hey helen
hi HK
hi back at you all :)
hi all!!
Hi, Fran!
hi jellen!
hiya fran
hi hk! you're early, there's like a whole 2 hours left.
lol fran - i
i'm having trouble logging on to the other game i play & frustrated from trying to fix whatever the problem is - that problem i can't seem to find
maybe it's not you hk.
no, it's something with the java running another version somewhere
i see, what a pain!
Hi, Hell and Fran.
tw4 anyone?
heya jacs!
hi jac!
tw + 2 vowels
nb, add two vowels
tw + **roplane (Brit. spelling)
tw3 = the Scottish word for two. (Or the two oof us)
got it. thot i had monkeyed everything, but there was one more. thanks everyone
Hi Fran. How are you doing? Life, not grid, btw.
i'm doing good jac
hi fran
hi ping!
Glad to hear it, Fran. Not easy be doable. xxx
that's true jac, but we try every day
BTW - update on ne4/8 of P's Mum's state of health. There was a mix-up in father/son communications (both were understandably upset). P's Mum does have Paget's Disease of the breast but only has to have the one removed on 26th November, not both.
I was SO worried about underlying cancer(s) when I thought it was both.
hope all goes well with her, jacula
that's good jac, i have to look up paget's disease, but i'm sure it's good that it's only on one side.
You must be a bit relieved, Jac.
Anyway, I rang her night after I got the news and got the proper story. It's just the one. Neither of them have slept snc they heard the news, which is understandable.
will keep you & yours in my prayers {{{jacs}}}
I'm a LOT relived, Jellen.
Thank you, Hell.
an 6 and 7 anyone?
so 5&6? i got the teddy bear one 6/27. help with others?
ping, it's a lipstick tree
Lipstick tree and plural, ping, (an words)
and plural, the seeds are used to color food
an + amar**** (the sweetish liquor)
an 6 is a natural colorant and plural
fran, there you go again with your girlie clues!
but change the first vowel
sorry ping! listen to helen. :-)
jasmine, for so5, add a vowel to the opp of hard
so - all variations on the first so
and so6 means to made so4/7
sorry, that's "make" so4/7
fireworks !
thanks hk and jac and nb and yes you too fran!
so4/7 = not hard, so5/16 is not so hard with first vowel at end. sp6/27 is what your fabric conditioner is said to do to your fabrics.
i am going to go bang my head on that java problem now, bbl
thanks all, got them
i have the seeds in my pantry right now (the an6). :-)
yay hk!!!
later hel!
No head-banging now, please, even though I am a lifelong heavy rock fan, it makes me dizzy these days. LOL.
what food do you use them in, fran?
i use it for red rice ping.
is that sweet?
we use it to color the water that goes into the pot and it adds some flavor too. savory.
ah - sounds good
in Guam they use it to color the fillings and the dough for empanada.
i've had a kind of purple rice for dessert
i think the lipstick tree is where it comes from? is that why i keep seeing that pop up? i just know it from reading labels......
But, have you got the word, ping?
like a rice pudding - a thai dish i think
the an word? yes, jac, thanks for following up!!
LOL. Glad you found it, ping.
that would be the rice with taro or yam, i think it gets purple from the root.
Still, sounds to me like it should be almond based, Tisn't though.
thanks for the clue, jac
That's amar****.
jasmine, lipstick tree was a new term for me when i started babble, i know it as achiote.
We'll make gardenders of you lot, yet! LOL.
Or even gardeners.
if babble makes a gardener of me i will share what i reap with all of you
that rice pudding is similar to a Filipino dessert. the cuisines are similar in some ways.
are the ingredients the same?
Oh dear! I do wish I could type properly after being told, 'Get out of the way, love, I need to get to work!' I chose to give up a job that paid more than either long term partner... I also chose not to write (which also brings in mega pennies).
Hmmmm.
yes, rice, coconut milk, banana sometimes, taro
yum
Ah, well, such is the path I chose for the moment. More fool me.
morning all
boker tov
hi lshult!
back for last push to finish, still 35 to go
Mind you, being 'a kept woman', as my other half described me to an old friend on Saturday, ain't such a bad thing.
Could use help finding the 8?
th8 - Greek word for death wish.
lshult, it's the personification of death in greek literature
th4/5 + where my girls **? + vowel + plural letter
brb
Was somewht uplifted at my 'great age' of 50 to see friend's brother again at the wedding. He'd always held a candle for me. He was delighted to see me again after about 26 years, since he was single again and thought I was, too. He looked very disppaointed when I introduced him to my partner.
got it, ty
Paul took great delight in seeing friend's brother's jaw drop in disappointment.
Any more clues needed afore the flip?
I won't be around to give clues after the flip because I hate all the clueing that goes on then when the grid is new. I can't see the point of it. So, speak now or forever hold your peace. LOL.
back to finish this... hello again *head down and searching*
No one is speaking.
Oh, MrP's here but has her head down. Good! She's having a go a solving this for the challenge.
Surely something that is won by hard work and diligence is far more worth having than something spelled out to you?
I've said me piece now, and I will go.
Actually, no. I have one more thing to say. Words learned are more often learned by knowing the definitions, or looking them up. Grids are moe often solved that way, too. If you find things out for yourself without other people just spelling them out for you, you're more likely to rem, ember the words aand what they mean. Failing that, study Latin. It helps! This is Jacula, signing out now on behalf of those that have been deemed 'Geniuses' not in a nice way.xxx
thanks jac!
y/w, Fran.
Incidentallly - our top player's main laungauage is NOT English but Dutch. Make that your challenge.xx
Not, you, Fran... xxx
i was going to say, i don't speak dutch jac. ;-)
but that's okay, english is my second language also, but we won't be seeing any Kosraean in these grids.
Sorry, Fran. Just got rather peed off by rows in chatlogs over past 4 days or so.
i must have missed all those
I don't speak Dutch, either Fran.
that FIREWORKS for me gonna go do some work now, be back for the flip, later
yay lshult!! see you later
Congrats, ishult!
so jac, what has everyone been arguing about?
Hello All! i see school is in again...
Well, never mind about all of that, Fran. I just felt I had to say something since I've been told to 'whateveer it was' that was rude.
Fran - the rules of the game really.
hi chic!
Hi Fran!
Mrp? You still here?
she's deep in the grid i think chic
I started off by asking why everyone bandied clued around when the grid flips. Dunno what Haz di to 'offend', wasn't her aat time. Scrolled back on log to see Sprote say she'd be back when those that spe;ll clues out were gone. I agreed with her on that one, though I wasn't there at the time.
i see, i guess i wasn't there either
I believe jac was refering to thur. flip time (youweren't there) when I said something that she deemed rude...
Lots of insults followed we three, plus Ata, as I saw in the times I was there or scrolled back. My take on it is this... it's a difference of cultures....We in Europe and beyond still thinnk you must work for things to make getting them any kind of victory. Over the sea, the easy life culture is taking hold... and in the Antipodes, a little.
I wish it wasn't so! And I do wish the other parts of the world weren't so free with the insults or the easily upsettedness.
am down to 2 of the big ones, and can't seem to find them
mrp! please go to IM!
Can anyone clue my last one, the last to 4/4?
hi chic! will do, give me a few minutes to get it up and running. have had heaps of issues with connection cause of yahoo
ok
sally foot digit plus first vowel
sally, the last to4/4 is a type of large bag, or another word for carry
Last to4/4 is what you do when you lift that bale or bag.
Tnx but unfortunately I have that one.
oops sorry wrong clue...
the second to last to4/4 is like breakfast bread minus a vowel
I have both the bag and the digit. Completely unable to see another.
Sorry if my posts have upset fols here, but that is how it is,
aren't we glad that Babble is just a game and as such meant for entertainment?
I also have the short vowel bread.
past tense of threw something diff. sp.
another to4/4 is a hammer or wrench
chic - Yes, of course it's just a game, but we meet people, and they are nt a game.
lol same thing...
and another to4/4 is an animated charcter, carto**
both of those have plurals
yes and we're all adults here( most anyway) and school was let out a long, long time ago for me.
back once again, hi all
Oh, jac -- glad to see you're still here -- just finished dinner while I watched BBC Canada and two of the funniest shows I've seen in ages -- Coupling and The Kumars
Personally, I very much prefer clues that are definitional or clever in some way and don't bother reading the spelling-it-out clues. Then again, I also don't particularly care if I complete a grid or not. I'm happy when I can do it, but if I can't work it out, I just shrug and give it up.
Still chuckling!
Got it! Thanks for the help.
On another site I used to have to keep readoing a troll's posts, insulating people I actually knew, 'but it's just a game,' he'd say.'Just the internet. No one can be insulted on line'. Yeah! Right!
titan
jan - yes. Other box now.
Arghhh...that wasn't meant to be in the box.
STANDS UP AND WAVES HI TO ALL :)
LOL!
Never mind.
Hi,my use.
hi muse! hi jilli!
Muse, not use. People could take that post the wrong way, if they saw it! LOL
lol, hi jac, fran
I was gonna ask how can I be of service?
Erm... is service the best word to use?
same as how can I help
Yea, sorry! We Brits have a ditry sense of humour.
ok Jac, I'll take your word for it ;)
I know you think we are all bowler hat, rain, flat caps and gloom, but we're not.
jac, see mine at 11:18 please
and Benny Hill, Spamalot humor comes to mind also
brits certainly have a ditry sense of humour, lol
The Two Ronnies...
jilli - got your post. Never seen coupling but do know The Kumars. :)
I think you would LOVE Coupling, heh heh
jilli - if you like the two Ronnies you will appreciatre one of my vids for lickety and MrP. Fuunny, I'm doing theen, sine I don't use Likcety Pro.
Silly stubborn Jac, you can use Expert and shut off clues
jili - I'll rely on myself and then BJ's list, if I' pushed, with about 15-20 words to go.
YOU CAN SHUT OFF LICKETY'S LIST AND PLAY THE GAME EXACTLY THE WAY YOU WANT WITH BJ'S
or no list at all, gaa
okay jilli, we believe you
If BJ is busy then I'll ask Lickey but only for his printable list.
but Jac won't!!!
No need t =o yell, Jilli. Heck! it's 5:31 am here.
Sorry (sort of)
Luvya, jac
You're not a bit sorry, Jilli. However, didn't haespeakers switched on here so you did not succeed in waking whole housel;hold up. Anyway, oly me here and my son who is due to go of to his new job at 8.25am. P went off to work in the early hours, daughter went back to Uni yesterday.. that just leaves the'kept woman' herei n charge.
oh Fran, there's a new addition in our family - my hubby's cousin had a little boy today at 4:30p :)
and, since I can't seem to type now (having raided Other Half's red wine store) it's time I was going.xxxxx

that reminds me of a little girl that shares my birthday also, my mom's best friend's granddaughter.
Yes, I will be going now, afore the flip and afore I can question it and be told to stuff it or whatever, Enjoy for clue-slinging flip, foks, I'lll be back later, in calmer times. Happy Babbling! xxx
egads...she's probably in her 20s now.
ping, are you still around?
wow, here I
'm thinking of a lil toddler
:-)
open the windows and let in some fresh air, please!
fran, you should look in the archives on thur nite right after the flip until about 40 min later....
i did find it chic, i guess i was there for a little bit, but left before the fireworks.
too many queens in England if you ask me...
I rarely say anything, just get tired of folks telling other folks how and when to do it...
she's mentioned the calling of biggies before, but as everyone said, it's been done every flip as far as i can remember.
exactly
ok, just went and checked my conversation and I didn't clue nothing. I simply showed myself up for finding a big word first! That is what we have all done since christ was a boy!
lol, mrp!
So having chased jac into bed (lol) here I am with the next icon theme, Native Americans...
i used to close the chat and work alone, but sprite was actually the one that told me not to leave one night, and i've stayed for the flip since then.
if somebody doesnt want to see chat....pull in right side of window until it covers chat....you can still see the board to play
yay jilli!
hey whats up all
Fran, I almost chose that pic
jilli, some of the text didn't come out very well.
well, GMTA muse
hi reaper!
I only ever hang out at flip time because it is vibrant and fun and people are finding good words and feeling great and letting others know how brainy they are! LOL Some days I can't see 2 bloody words and it is good to have a 'direction' to go in... if someone doesn't like flip time, that is their opinion and shouldn't rub everyone else out for it
hi all and fireworks!
great icon jilli!
nj gwen
muse, i like your icon!
yay gwen!!
Weird Al tonight on the bonus video.
hi dart!

Can I have a hint for the last sw 5/20, please? I'm not going to get fireworks, but it'll be nice to nail down the ses. (is that the correct plural of s?)
eses, sw5 add wi4
sw 5,20 = s+ wi 4,9
Ah, that did it! Thanks!
I hope I've fixed the text in my bio -- apparently curly quotation marks and apostrophes are beyond the capabilities of this site
eeek, muse, now that song will be stuck in my head for a week!! LOL

Flip's about to flip mpw amd sp I am off. Back later.
