this is almost a normal winter for us....havent had as much snow as norm....missing us to the south....but weve had such wimpy winters the last 5 years

they've already carted away over 30 million cubic metres of snow...there'e nowhere to put anymore of it

they recommend no planting til 3rd or 4th week of May
we have 2 seasons here....winter and road repair
well you get the cold from Canada and we get the snow from the states lol
and we have the same only our's is winter and July

however here, we don't know from chinooks....only nor'easters which are killers
listen to St. John's Newfoundland radio on the net....their forecast are usually....snow and blowing snow changing to rain or freezing rain...hi 5C...winds 40-60KPH gusting to 80 to 100....seems like every other day

we were introduced to the captain of your gold medal winning curling team th4,5 won in italy in 2006....he is a great guy....ending up getting a private tour of George Street ( bars/music) from him......came out of the bar at 4:15 am and the bands were still playing on a friday night...had to get up for breakfast at 8am...lol....and we walked back to the B&B which was about a mile and a half uphill :-)
and now I am not even allowed to say out loud th4 my kids watched them. They are too ashamed.

We have a thing here called the BioDome.....it's huge and shows 4 different habitats in the world> One of them is the Gaspe and Newfoundland area, the Laurentian Mountain ecosystem, tropical rainforest and the Antarctic, each replete with the animals native to those systems

lol...made someone's web page too...gal named anne fron philadelphia has a web site with my fave band featured...but she also likes jim fidler...she has all her travels on the site...i used it to plan our trip....saw her and jim fidler in a pub in downtown st john's one might...went up to her and said hi and freaked her out th4,5 i knew who she was....her pic is on her site....told her how i knew...we had a great time...and she wrote about the meeting in this years journal :)

Anyway Mar That's what keeps me going. I can't believe that all the suffering in the world is pointless. The good news is we were all brought together here for many reasons, for support, companionship, fun... and now, without complaining, I am going to go clean the kids' rooms. My husband mentioned it looked like a bomb exploded in their closets...
I firmly believe that I shouldnt sweat the small stuff, and as long as I'm on the right side of the dirt, it's ALL small stuff =)
I think venting is very important. And as someone not physically well, I can honestly say that I am really interested in what others tell and vent. I don't often feel it is less than MY sh*t. If it affects you, vent it, no matter how small it is or seems. Little things can connect to much bigger ones without us realising it.

We had decided to change a downstairs bedroom/study into a living room/study. I did the painting and wallpapering.
Others are commissioned to make the curtains - I'll hang them, but that's my limit.
I love home decoration..so refreshing.
It's great when it's done - my least favourite bit is the painting of the ceiling but I quite like wallpapering.
Never trust these home decoration tv shows that show rooms magically transformed in the blink of an eye.
I've never wallpapered before..Not really a fan of wallpaper, but I love painting! Not the ceiling though, ugh

dc, i know this will sound odd,but if the migraine is not one one th absolutely critical ones, ( mine tend to come in varying degrees), try putting feet in very hot water with vicks or some camphor/mentholated rub on temples. it seems to knock back the pain. if you were my russian baba, i'd tell you to tie an old rag around your head too. she swore by that

They are called the stolen generation. This is the formal apology to all aboriginal families that have been effected for this appalling lack of judgement

They were not returned but a lot rediscovered their families when they were adults. They were brought as part of their white families, certainly no obvious mistreatment, but you can imagine how they felt as they grew into adulthood.

Scarlet...I am not trying to excuse what the whites did, but I can understand their actions which were well intentioned. A large portion of aboriginals live in their traditional manner which would be seen by many to be seriously disadvataged.

lady, i would agree, except that the clarinet he plays is 40 plus years old, and sat in a closet for 25 years before he got it. The felt pads come off because of the lousy glue the repair shop uses i think...he takes really good care of it...no broken pieces ever
