Mr PRes are you ok?
I saw that
not really infern, but still smiling
Hello all you trouble makers...
I can't explain how to help your itchy spot. I can only explain it by steeping and soaking a washcloth and wringing it near dry and dabbing it on the itch
i just looked up mealopedia....I think it refers to ground beef as "beef mince" which I happen to have about 6lbs of in the freezer
Hey i resemble that remark
There you go kimmy have fun
mrp, that's a seriously sexy central line, mr p.... not everyone could carry it off like that!
LOL, herin!
I'll be on there for hours Infernal
I think I have to reboot. Thanks infern *blush*... I feel better already
see you all in a minute or two
The world's most versatile food, kimmy, in my opinion. It's in a food group of its own!
Kimmy its great i randomly chose a week worth of food for the b.f and i shall be awesome
ha...food is the route to a man's heart
i cook for mine too and he goes into shock
my mum burns water
probably because of food poisoning
ha infernal
food is the way to EVERYONE'S heart if you ask me.. it's just knowing what to cook and when...
exactly jandy
I love the idea of someone else thinking of my meals for the week that I can randomly chose and have a shopping list emailed to me
Aaahhh fooodd...... why am I not thin? LOL!!!
i'm personally stuck in a rutt
er...rut
i'm stuck on 4 letter words
i've been babblized
I'm a bit of the opposite, my favourite job is having to make something yummy out of strange combinations of fridge contents...
Grin Kimmy... I still have 12 four letter words to go...
you should be a chef Jandy
Jandy i can be a bit lazy but i like this idea
my last word was 4 letters Jandy
Whatever works for you, lady! Doesn't matter which way, as long as everyone enjoys the results.
That and its going to be the boy and i now so we are going to be free and easy on the food
I'm stuck in a meatloaf, roast beef, fried chicken etc rotation
I'm so bored of my own cooking
I do enjoy it Kimmy... and I have thought about doing catering as a career (I love doing party and cocktail food) but I think I might not enjoy it as much if I did it full time
Same Kimmy
oh carp! yahoo is reinstalling!
I used to be a chef
jandy, I want to have my own coffee shop... I really want a Gloria Jean's style place.... just coffee, tea, icy stuff and cakes with some savoury

pffffft to that idea
my favourite one was in Borders... it went for under $300k
but they want 60% upfront, not including investment
Here I am!
WOW. but you have to be prepared to lose it
I just don't have that money right now. I am not prepared to put my house and kids education on that line right now. I think I will start something from scratch
jeez...I can't even afford a puppy right now, nevermind $300k - that's a LOT of $$$
chic, trying to come back
Someone i know lost about $70 000 in their coffee place
I want a corgi!
sometimes the little businesses blow up and do better anyway pres
location, location, location
all you need is a cup of coffee and a dream....you never know
I want my own house
I've seen it happen
getting a house on your own is tough
ANd a shit load of cash
ha infernal
me too
shiiiit
it'd be niiiiiice
my house mate is shitting me off
fark, isn't working chic... will have to get mark to look at it

sorry
chic, I get error after error and can't send messages
it is being a byatch
well excuse me for making random statements

they are only in the Sydney area to top it off... we live with them
she's loved spiders since she was a baby wants to be an entymologist
The one that lives in that still lives in water
Our worst snake also kills in 5 minutes... no chance there
I'll tell her to keep her distance
Is that the red Mr Pres?
saw that snake video lickety made
at least with a rattler or a cobra, you can get help within a few hours... not with some of our beauties!
no, it is a brown snake
Oh that one
West that poor snake was a python
I will go look it up... back to google
silent and deadly
oh it was? must have been a baby
still it was nice of him to rescue it
even though they had to put it to sleep
Poor thing died sadly. Way to squished
I know
herin are you in the new place now?

they are moving to our suburb actually
is that a good thing?
well, I am not sure... we didn't know he was selling his unit, nor did he tell us he had bought in our area... my dad told me. We only found out in the last couple of weeks
maybe he wanted it to be a big surprise
He is much younger than I am, he is also very insensitive and secretive. It is allegedly how my uncle is too... so my family think it is hereditary. I think it is rude
he has agendas seems like
nah west. no surprise intended. He didn't even call me or come see me at hospital for 2 weeks

Hi Eva

bye nono
Ardilla, I thought they would b be sympathetic to yr situation. No?\
people are helpful, but i still have to go to work
here it's the humidity that transforms all weather systems... 1 degree with a nasty wind and 90 % humidity doesn't feel like 1 degree at all...
well pls take all the time you need to get to places, you dn't want all this to have been in vain Ardilla
Can I help with any clues before I go?
I know. I was in Montreal for a few days last June and it was brutally hot and humid. Not what one associates with canada.
Hi all, tiny teeny grid?

yikes what a weird looking grid, at first glance
I'm half way through my day and really really really wished I had never got up!
think i've hit the wall dorens with 51 found...
what is wrong katie ?
snap - montreal - me too!
well i literally just started, so i have far more to go, but I'm sure you'll move the wall eventually luc
katie, why?
hiya there sandr !
true enough, walls are ma** to drive thru...
To be honest nothing is really wrong I just have a headache and want to be in bed, the clocks changed at the weekend and although it is only an hour I always take it badly!
katie, you are having jet lag
to add to that I have hit the wall at 17 words and am seriously considering the list :-)
strong internal clock you have katie...
17 left i imagine... ?
Lol annie, I think you may be right, to make matters worse I go to Spain next weekend and lose another hour, honestly when I come back on Monday I will have no idea what time it is
No monte, seriously I have only found 17!
i have 6 out of the possible 8 6's. What am i missing i have ad6 (confuses) be6 (a hag) ga6 x 2 (type of roof plural and past tense ma6 (perhaps) and wa6 (staggers)
wi6
ahh ty
Well that helped, now up to 22 :-)
wi6 - indian word (american indian that is)
lol katie.. helped me too... to a less than illustrious 33
dy6 = dy + first word in list !
ohh would never have got that one montreal - many thanks
thanks, Luc

yay angel, and thanks mont.. didn't have first word, so that really helped
i'm back
yw dorens
wtg angel looking forward to your clue stories :)
Montreal - just fyi...your dy+first word in clue list mixed me up for a minute...there's a word before that one. Sounds like you need it (ab4 = a + where you sleep)
wow, i entered the chat stating that this was a we*** looking grid, and no one put me in the penalty box!
missing 1 L word: have le 4/5 (major role in a film) and le4/9 (a le** comment, not nice) - what am i missing ?
sorry and thx kenny, didn't have it !!
Monte use the sometimes vowel on the major role
add a letter to the le 4/5 monte
tx sandr !
and katie
anyone got the f?
not me sandr
nor the E at bottom of 2nd column...
f---fe is an expression of disgust
fe + i study *i*tory
tx annie and dorens !
thanks annie & Dorens
ahh - many thanks
bottom e is alt spelling of the bird's nest
Oh I just got the e on my own :-)
Half way through on a real roll now
28 to go...taking a break
later annie
See you later annie

Hi ardilla. How's the ankle?
hello to everyone

Oh dear, ardilla. Try to rest it now.
good morning all - nice to see a cute little puzzle on a Monday morning!
Hello AsGreen.
Afternoon. Havent started yet - is it really a 'cute' log, small ones are usually anything but cute?
Hi FM. I was just about to say that not every little is cute - take Black Widow spiders, for instance.;-)
small, not cute and hi asgreen, jac, FM, ardilla
off to work - have a great day (or night) all!
and helmet and everyone else i missed
LOL hello Annie and Jacs and AsGreen and hop along (Ardilla) :)

How are you today Annie?
I am doing well, and you, FM?
spent the weekend in Connecticut with my daughter and family, why is Ata getting "pinked"?
For a Monday ... not to bad at all, had a meeting all morning which went well and the sun was shining, gone grey again onw. Aparently its going to be nice and warm tomorrow?!
Annie you know Ata Cartlandised Haz, Jacs and myself oh and jilli and dc - well it's her turn to do her own picutre.

She Cartlandised Stid, too.
Oh, that should be fun...looking forward to seeing Ata pinked
She did you are right

Carlee - I didn't know it was on Facebook!8-/ I know it's in her Flickr pics.
good morning Scrab!
*paint shop Congrats Jacula. Hello Scrabbler!
Asgreen, look at Jac's profile and you will be Haz Cartlandised
i have the same pic that on flickr...full size on facebook
Oh, I've just realised Carlee meant her own pic is on Facebook. LOL
Is this one of those small but evil grids?
Hi, Scrabbs.
Scrabbs, you got it!!!
It's not too evil, Scrabbs.
ok..who has been awake for 30 mins..and who is still not awake at noon her time????
I thought so, because I can only see 2 words.
I'm not liking it scrabs..mind I haven't liked any grids for a couple weeks
****says Jacs upon fireworks***** for the rest of us though.....
Please, how many words today?

I have 27 left
I've got a few things to do. BBL to clue,if time. In the meantime, you could camp in a wi6/51 if you wear feathers in your hair and like to do war dances.
i HAVE those... pardon me
TTFN Jacs
TY, Jacula!
later, Jacula
wtg & bye jac
Why isn't "owee" a word? It has 2 meanings: [1] an injury, as in "boo-boo", and [2] the one that owes money to the ower.
hi scrabbs carlee & fm
Fireworks!!!
Yahooo for Annie! Hello Ardilla.
hi & wtg annie
<POMPOM TWIRL> for annie... woohoo

bye carlee
Bye CArlee
have a great day, carlee
Scrabbs, how is your friend Mary?
hello
hi harp
halfway done
hello harp
Mary went home on Good Friday and I visited her last Wednesday afternoon. She looks great, and I walked into the living room to see hre feeding the baby. I had tears in my eyes. It was a beautiful scene.
Hi Jane
scrabbs, that is wonderful news!
Mary needs to get stronger. She needs a walker and someone at her side, and her left side is weaker, but she and her husband and the older kids are SOOOO happy to have her at home.
scrabbs, last I read the tumor had shrunk considerably. will she regain the strength in her left side?
We hope so. It bothers her a lot.
how many words today?
I will not stop praying for her
74
Hello Babblers
I lost track of the time, and now have to run too - bbl!
TY, Annie--Mary is determined to be a long-term survivor. Her husband and the kids need her.
Hi tingtong and pabtrek.
anyone want any clues before I go into the world? Hi Pab, bye green
addle
Oh, Annie, I am struggling so much with this grid and have found only 24 words. I may open the list and end my suffering.
hi ting
scrabbs, list away!
what I meant was, of course, go to the list
I am typing some silly words, just to find something.
Hi
Oh, OK, Annie, I first tilted on the chair here, LOL.
TY for that direct clue, tingtong, as my brain is ad***d with this grid.
ting, that was a great clue
The list is an immense help, Annie!
Yes, it most certainly is
yw scrabbler!
i am new to this and have never chatted before, forgot which box I was in!
so if noone wants any clues, I am off! *poof*
welcome to babbleland, ting!
I am still a newbie and I am going backwards. I have found 26 words today
welcome, burken, bye!!!
See you later
26 words is good start for a grid like this now or not!
Thanks that makes me feel better. I have been trying a few days now and never seem to find more than a third.
Welcome, tingtong & burken. We all place words into the chat occasionally. Sometimes we do it so we can get treats in the penalty box.
Some grids are easier than others.
No, no, no, Scrabbler, don't mis-educate the newbies! You're never supposed to put words in the chat! Never never never! (Only sometimes they do just end up there somehow anyway!)
I started the same burken, a lot of words are not normal every day ones but you'll remember more of them as time go by.
LOL Hi Vi ... and anyway the PB is shut
Yes, we never do it on purpose, but if we do it is not a crime, unless Hazel is here.
Yes, I heard, FM. The ankle irons were getting so outdated. And is the ribbon to be pink for the grand reopening?
I will try and behave in future, I have to go now, but will be back tomorrow
I use British spelling and find that I am learning more American versions day by day. No offense meant. I am Australian and some of our words are not recognized.
Bye tington :)
Will the traction device be removed too? And has Hazel decided to stop the waterboarding torture?
Goodbye, tingtong. See you later.
Bye tingtong
Night Tingtong
Don't you know waterboarding isn't torture, Scrabbler? Not when we do it, anyway.
hiya
It isn't torture for the person doing it.
Exactly, Scrabbler! Because nothing we do is torture! Only when other people do it to us. I can see you're ready for a career in the administration.
I believe that I am qualified to be a bureaucrat.
good morning babblers
Hi Nance
Hello, nance.
elow everyone :)
hey meow
Hi meow
Hello, meow.
be6 anyone, please?
be6/30 - starts like a dingdong, ends like Hoover or Aswan, means a hag
the first de? please?
This is a grey hair giving grid :(
Aha, I figured it out--good clue and TY, Vicuna!
de4 not alive
Hi T & T and Simon.
my first de is de4/6 as a doornail.
hello scrab, une, fmitch, vicuna, etc etc
thank you une
oMG I can't believe I missed that
thank you Vicuna
hello and yw!
Hello toad and Une
Pretty icon Une
Yes, FMitch, this grid has knocked my Babble Self-Esteem score way down.
Hi Une
Hello, toad&, and Une.
get in line, scrabs! LOL
how about the da5.22
going to the list with 35 left to find . . .
never mind found it
Hmmm... I seem to be breezing right along. I guess I'm due for a big, hard, nasty wall.
Pardon me but what is the "list"?
I want to put in beefy... its not there grrrr
Are you wearing Atalante's Smugness Hat, Vicuna?
how many do you have so far Vic? I hit the wall about 40
How many words so far Mrs Vi (clever clogs)
burken, scroll down and use lickety's babble clues
madle
exactly 1/2 way through now!
Good idea, Scrabbler.... There! Can you feel the aura?
or this one: http://tinyurl.com/3bs4op
31 left
Pfffft
**bowing down at Vicuna's feet* I am not worthy to be in your presence, Vicuna.
help with the 2 be5s, I can't find them
near the bottom of this screen, ther is a list of the number of words & the first two letters - it's in the Lickity's Babble Clues
LOL I was thinking that Scrabbler but just typed pfft instead.
wabs
lol, FM. I was feeling some conflicting messages, there!
be + morning moisture
Anyway, I'm sure I'll bang up against the wall any minute now.
be + farmer in the ***l
I have a spare brick or two if you want to start now ... ?
thank you une
thank you Une...
yw :-)
thank you une
Save them, FM. That way if I don't hit the wall myself, you can throw them at me!
I just found the theme word for this grid. we5/20!
I'll throw fe4 at you... whatever that word means
Simon is waving his red sock at ya'll
I'm guessing that's what FM was doing with her "pffft", toad and!
and ee4, scrabs! LOL
Thank I always try to spell that wi not we
Yes, Une!
Me, too, FM. That's one of my words that I never get right.
because of the rule, I before E except after C, it breaks the rules
** waving my coffee mug at Simon**
oh now it is being stuffed in his mouth
first we5 please?
I recon that about 45 of the words are normal usage ones.
is there a *ddle word?
Hello all.
Since my first we5 was the one we were just discussing, I'd better get looking.
Several, nance.
Hi hazel
Good moring, cats and kittens.
other than the first letter of the alpha
Hello there Haz
Hello, Haz!
we + farmer in the ***l
hi Judi
hey judi, fm & haz
morning, haz!
Waving back!
thank you une
yes, Nance, how a duck walks, but a different vowel
TY, Une. I will save my last 15 for tonight. That will get me through the work day. Bye folks. Enjoy the day.
bye, scrabs!
bye & hb scrabbl
*scrabbler
Bye Scrabs enjoy the tennis.
well, I guess it could be the same vowel, just depends on how you pronounce it
Oh, thanks, Une. (Had to go supervise piano practice for a second.)
One second is that all the time you make you child practice?!
ok, gonna go give Simon some food and put him down for a nap
Night all
nite, burken
Bye burken, see you again
anyone have a clue for the f?
Well, actually it pretty much is, FM! They're only 5 and this is not supposed to be high-pressure, get them on stage by age 7 as child prodigy stuff! Each week they are assigned one song, and each day I make them play the song through one time.
Bye, burken.
fe4 - fe plus male possessive, minus the vowel
fe4/8 - excalmations of disgust (abbblet)
*babblet, that is, * exclamations, those are
thank you haz
Thats good ideas Vi, I had so much pressure on me to play as a child it killed any enjoyment I might have got.
I like abbblet, too, Vic.
any clue for the be6? last one I need
That's too bad, FM. I never took piano lessons and didn't start cello until I was older, but I adored it.
tyvm
be6/30 - looks like a word for chaos, two letters swopped.
be6 dingdong + structure for blocking water flow in a river
thanks une
yw :-)
I've kept a lot of my sheet music so that should I be able to get a piano ni the future I can start again.
Going to put the kettle on. back in a mo
Will the new refurbished PB have a piano for jolly singalongs?
me too, fmitch--also have some of my mom's ooooold sheet music, like Shirley Temple songs!
Vicuna spends very little time in the PB so we should be safe.
oh, fab idea, haz!!
We don't have a piano, actually, but we just bought a reasonably decent electric keyboard for the kids to practice. They're surprisingly affordable.
The keyboards, not the kids.
beautiful icon, vicuna
Thanks, Une. I like it, too. Although it's left over from the day Earth was the theme. I'm out of date on my planets.
Ha ha ha, Haz. Maybe I need to start typing more words in chat just to torment you.
That's a catch 22 situation, isn't it?
Or maybe I'll just sing without typing words first...
"When you walk through a storm keep your head up high..."
*flops*
and don't be afraid of the dark . . .
Uh oh! Keep singing, Vic!
at the end of the storm
Who se t Vi off singing?
Spangle has started to howl.
is a golden sky and the sweet silver song of the lark
LOL.
Was that a flopping entrance, or a flop at my singing, Ata? In either case, hello.
Hello Atalante!
LOL Hi flopsy :)
That would be Haz, FM.
You can't blame me - not while FM is here to be blamed for everything.
If you can't walk on, Ata, as long as you're down there - you might as well crawl on.
a flopping entrance of course! your singing is quite - special
just been for a 3 hour walk with the hound
Atalante is set for a career in the diplomatic service.
Awww, thanks, Ata! You're so tactful. But how come no one is appreciating Une's lovely singing?
Either that or she's going to be 'the good judge' in al those talent shoes where Simon is the nasty one.
Talent shoes? my my
I only want to be judging if John Barrowman is judging too
Talent shoes. Worn by clever clogs.
they're hoping I'll go away if they ignore my dulcet tones! LOL
Are your purple high heels talent shoes, FM?
Perhaps if you wore your talent shoes, you wouldn't flop.
But he is not of that pursuasion Ata
I know *sigh* but I could still stare longingly at him
I guess that means Mr. Barrowman would be wearing light loafers?
Okay, I must go read "Old Turtle" to the sprats. Back in a mo.
*whispers - Ladies I am worried about Haz, she is making sp mistake and that is not like her at all*
cooking sherry strikes again
I know. I'll have to have a stern talk with myself.
How many words today?
74
74
Just 74 words today.
Thanks!
Just while we're on the subject, (we're not really but thought I would raise it), who is going to open the new PB when it opens?
Toyah
Have we any A list celebrities lined up?
Please, not Heather Mills. Her speech would go on for eveeeeeeeeeer.
ZZ Top?
As in Dr_G?
well as in the band that Dr_G likes
John Barrowman. Or Hayden.
Torchwood team? Ata will be going which one is Owen?
Imran?
aha! I know that now!
hey, peeps
but who was the guy at the end of the episode??
ooooo Imran
Ahhh that would be telling, you will just ahve to wait and see
just popping in for a mo - uploaded my list. think I'll take the day off :)
thats not helpful LOL
Imran is politician, sportsman and all round decorative man. I think he's pretty multi-purpose.
Hello tyger.
Haz can ask Liam Neeson's mother to ask him to come.
Hello tyger, do you work for yourself?
Haz. I think that's what most of us need - a multi-purpose man ;D
Ah yes, Kitty should get on the phone to him.
mitch - I work for nobody; been that way for almost 10 years now
but today's grid was so ... brief. I've got the whole day free, now
Oh tyger there was a marvellous programe on last night with hidden cameras in the jungle filming the daily comings and goings of a tiger and her cubs.
what I need to do is draft several days' worth of blog posts, Just In Case we get another run of big grids
really? was this one of the shows that comes our way eventually?
I didn't mean to upset the whole conversation. I saw HM mentioned (not E2R), and just had to find out what was going on
I would hope so BBC1 and David Attenborough, always a brilliant combination.
oh, yeah - it surely is a brilliant one
Yawn. Fireworks.
not a big fan of Macca, but have never liked the (now) ex
yay, judi
Congratulations Judi.
Are you blase Judi or still waking up? Congratulations too :)
congrats Judi
too ... preachy
tyger - I had never liked her either, and worried that I had been prejudiced by the bad press. I think my gut instinct has been proved correct.
HM is not a popular person for most (myslef included)
So, no takers for membership of the Heather Mills Appreciation Society?
when you see someone who has clawed their way up from the streets, ya gotta respect that, but when somebody takes a voluntary dive first ... well. discretion is a more appropriate virtue
anybody have a clue about the two e's on the bottom?
or at least it seems so to me
No thank you Haz
kris - one is the variant spelling of the 5 letter word for weird
the only admirable thing about Heather Mills is the guts it took for her to be on Dancing with the stars
ok ty
Ummm tyger said a worrrrrd
I don't deny that she has physical courage and a determination to overcome, but....
Had forgotten about that pabtrek as it was over your side of the pond.
oh, crud. sorry. well, you guys said you wanted someone to check out the upgraded PB :P
Don't think so tyger as I haven't finished building it yet *grin*
It's not open yet. We're all agog for the new and improved version.
she would have done better just to keep her mouth shut, she protested and attacked too much to be totally innocent
the word in today's grid that fascinated me was the one for the ancient Irish spelling word
work fast, mitch :D
HM doesn't do discretion.
well, she's been discreet about her Arab boyfriends, hasn't she?? :P :P :P
or am I dignifying the relationships? :P
lol
Where's Ata when HM's relationships are being discussed? She usually has something tactful and diplomatic to say.
I really shouldn't be ugly like this.
but HM ... *invites* it so
It's okay. I read the High Court judge's statement with my chin on the floor.
Probably getting tea or something if she and Hobbit were out for 3hrs.
haven't read that, haz. should I?
Either that or producing another masterpiece.
yeah, a cuppa after 3 hrs walk sounds ... desirable :)
whilst putting a wash on and completing sudoku, all whilst being smug :)
Yes, tyger, you should. It was on timesonline and made for illuminating reading.
i'm here - just on the phone!
multi tasking!!
I read a news report about the verdict, but it was mostly about HM offering advice to other women outside the courthouse
Do look it up, tyger, I was amazed at how candid the judge was.
oops. timesonline got me the Beaver County & Allegheny Times ... not, I presume, what you meant
mornin babblers!
hey, eva
I must have a quick look at that out of interest, The Times that is. Hey EvaN
hi Eva
how is everyone today?
No, www.timesonline.co.uk. Or google appropriate terms like mccartney divorce judge ruling.
Hello EvaNadine.
I had to google, to find The Times. that's astounding, that a dinky US rag could preempt the venerable Times, where web IDs are concerned
never mind the gossip where are the clues??
I googled for The Times, and got the real thing :D
Awe sorry Bill, hope you are well :)
What clues do you want, bill?
what? you need clues, bill? :)
any!
aw, c'mon. you know you gotta do better than that :D
CLUE: tell us, bill: how do ducks walk?
singular gets you 36 pts. plural gets you 52
Ty
yw
Ducks walk down to the corner pharmacy where they say, "Give me some chapstick... and put it on my bill!"
waddle
The wise men = m4
oops, got another customer, haz - get the PB up?
Native Americans lived in a w6
Sorry about that cursor in wrong place!
if something is uncertain, you say ma5 & 6
not all of us, mitch! :) I live in a brick apartment building
Thas why I put it as a pt tyger, I was trying to be as uninflamitory as possible :)
LOL
as for the d4 that is not nice to Italians or Spanish .. well!
Nathaniel Hawthorne wrote a book titled The House of Seven ga6/30
yeah - an inflammatory grid :D
2 other versions of the GA in grid
or there was the "Anne of Green ... " version
ga5/18 - actor Clark up on the roof
Anyway that is me done for cluing Bill hope that helps
or actor Clark GA***
true - Maud Montgomery is one of my all time favs
Oh good one too EvaN
see saw, Marjorie da* (PT in grid)
of course, that's not a Real Word (TM)
I'm often accused of being ba5/28 and le4/9 in my humour - Benny Hill?
don't forget ba4/11 - once upon a time, the term for a "fallen woman"
*Shocked look* you are Haz ?????
when drops of water sprinkle the grass at dawn, it's described as be5/24ed
Will have to get Ata to do you as Nell Gwyn.
sometimes I feel as though my wits are ad5/14 (PT)
Or maybe Haz is impersonating Mae West.
the word in the grid I just clued is NOT pt, tho
Vic, I think you've got it! :D
Time out tyger, we want to leave some words for Bill to find along!
thx, mitch. I'm exhausted anyway :)
ok I'm back properly now!
WB, ata - NOW we shall do! :)
Oh sorry Ata we areall just leaving
Only joking!!
typical!
all ready to skewer HM properly for us?
ya/5boat movind from side to side
ya/5boat movind from side to side
ya/5boat movind from side to side
Last one out turn off the lights.
I'm back - hoping to pop in, use the list, finish the grid! 45 to go for me
hey, green!
hi tyger!
Ata sudoku is good today
one more clue I *wanted* to give: La be6 sans merci (variant spelling)
og/4 Pictish script
LOL tyger
lol, tyger. It would have a very different connotation, though. And all those art nouveau artists who love to illustrate it would not have nearly so much fun.
By 'sudoku is good today' do you mean that lesser mortals could conquer the sucky ducky game?
bill - I mentioned that one about the time you came in
o'course, the spelling in the grid is more consonant with the "old hag" variant
It is as quriky as babble but yes Haz.
Boss says we must do the dishes!
Hope that 'we' doesn't include us too bill!
And you know she's right, bill.
Good Morning! How many today?
glad to help all I can from 4K miles away :D
:)))) Haz, FM
Well, hello Liz!
Hello phaeton, 74 words today.
hi phaeton and Liz
Hellooooo liz :))
hey, phae!
Hello, Liz. Hello, phaeton.
Thanks Haz, almost half way there :)
phone :(
how's the easter egg thief today?
Hows Spangle Haz?
all the clues helped....tell them i'm not home FM
Oh lol hi Ata
Keep going, phaeton!
phae, there's a ton of clues back in the log a few minutes, if you want them
He's feeling a bit sorry for himself Ata
She's fine, thanks. She's a dog who can pass chocolate. Not like Oscar!
***having a tough go at the be's - have the 5/24, not the other two
awwwwww poor boy
i got them tyger except the og word, that clue confused me
Oscar cant pass anything even resembling food
do you have it now?
was he very sick?
be5/16 - be plus the beginnings of Samson's nemesis (as sung by Tom Jones)
tx haz!
be6/30 - looks like the chaotic hospital for the confused, switch round the middle consonants.
Ata he wasn't sick at all but you do NOT wanna know about his other end *bleugh*
cloth that will accept color is said to be dy6/33
*cringe* I don't think I do ....! As long as he's ok, though
liz - he blew you away?
thanks for that one Haz :)
tyger said a woooooooord
thank you Ata he's going to be fine
still thinking haz
oh, no.
and how did your son take the lack of eggs?
I think it's time for me to go
I keep putting my foot in it.
Or be5/16 - three letters for where you sleep, first two letters of England's QUeen
nope, can't get the be6 :(
be6 - first three of something that rings, last three, something that stops water
Back.
be6/30 sounds like something you ring + a wall holding back the water
you rock Haz - thx!
You're welcome, As.
AsGreen, be6...doorbe*l and what keeps water back in a river
later, all *poof*
Late
got it - but thx Ish and phae!
Bye tyger.
Goodbye, tygerbryght.
bye tyger
ooooh, bye tyger!!
Bye tyger
thanks for all the clues
Liz, does the trek feel a bit like a dream now you are back?
When you get home and unload your groceries, I think you could be said to debag them.
And due to his wealth, Donald Trump is unexpectedly weddable.
Wasn't debagging something they did at Oxford or Cambridge or was it Eton?
You can debug, but i guess you can't debag
Yes, I've come across it in novels of the 30's, I think.
But I thought women married him so that they would know the secret of the hair?
No he's not, he's wedded
I like every one of the e words today!
removing trousers?
the hair is a secret?
It's a secret?
There used to be Oxford bags (trousers) so I think it's probably related to University high jinks..
Oh yes. It's been declared a National Mystery.
Yes. Such droll, well-educated humor!
On one of his apprentice shows he let the contestants check out his hair, it's all his
missing a 6... i have: AD6 BE6 GA6 x2 MA6 WA6 Wi6
ah ha hense the de bag
dy6
if that's real, I wouldn't admit to it
dy6 - recently clued
Just a lousy way to wear it, but it seems to be his trademark
You've got it, Sherlock.
thanks!
that makes 28 words left to hunt down... but, alas, tis a busy day, and im leaving early!
Of course it's his. That doesn't make it real or natural!
It deserves to be a National Mystery. You look at that hair and you think 'how?' and then you think 'why?'
Then you think 'what's he hiding?'
But don't you then go on to think "Who cares?"
It's like the classic combover!
Yes, but that's a lot of questions for one hairstyle, don't you think? A National Mystery.
Let's face it, since his face became well known, it's now an International Mystery.
More Global then National
It's not THAt interesting surely?
Okay, it's a Global Mystery.
its quite impressive for a few strands of hair
I think Haz is drawing a distinction between mysterious and interesting.
hello everyone
And if she isn't then I will do so on her behalf.
DoG sorry! Got dragged away by a nappy emergency just then!
I firmly predict that if aliens landed, their first question would be 'Donald Trump's hair - why?'
Hello, sadie.
zzzzzzz *jolt* sorry dropped off there for a moment.
Thank you, Vicuna.
morning sadie, did you get to watch yesterdays race?
hiya vicuna
Waken up, Fmitch, you've kept awake through less riveting stuff than this.
Then we could say to the aliens, "Take him, study him... don't bother to report back."
Less riveting than Donald Trumps hair? I dont think so!
riveting? as in those things sticking the hairpiece / dead rug to his head?
...mind you, ... Toyah's hair....
But would that mean that they'd solve the mystery and we'd be left wondering still - How? Why?
Oh good. Toyah baiting time.
Sorry Haz and you are right of course.
*blush* sorry
Well, I think what FM is trying to express here, Haz, is that we wouldn't actually be wondering.
You don't suppose that Donald Trump has his PA searching the internet for references to him the way Toyah had for her?
he has a whole company doing that
LOVE that wi is in the puzzle - thought it was a phantom!
Put bucket over Haz's head in desperate attempt to stop her going on about The Hair!
OMG watch out Haz!
Umbrella is useful at times like these.
Can i have a clue for the og word?
(ignoring all the hair talk, fyi(
*)
og4 - og plus shortened mother, backwards
ooooo Liz, you've done it. How exciting and well done :))
oh goodness kids everywhere schools out...must go
Thanks Haz
See you Liz.
I now know who is going to open the new PB
hayden?
Are you going to tell us, or will it be a surprise?
bye all *poof*
another PB, i thought we just got a redecorated one
Oh, my friend flicker is back, drumming on our chimney cap. What a ruckus he makes! I certainly hope all the females are suitably impressed.
hi everyone
bye liz
hi orange
phaeton, FMitch is never one to rest on her laurels. The improvements are bound to be great!
Hello Orange.
Bye, Liz, hello, Orange.
Log froze completely there. Stringfelow
in a leopard print thong?
only if the weather is warmer
Let us all pray earnestly for snow.
haz must be thrilled
she may be speechless for the first time
I'm overcome.
Anyone got some smelling salts for Haz?
I noticed yesterday that Boots still sell smelling salts
Hey everyone! any clues for dy6 and ga6?
I need emergency medicine. Where's George?
dy6 - hair which takes a colour is dy6.
Really? Do they still sell corsets, too?
ga6 - descriptive ending on ga5/18
wow - 8 left - :)
and eau de cologne for ones lace hankie
If the eau de cologne is strong enough you probably don't need the smelling salts.
Old Spice works just as well
Or Brut.
Is it still made? Brut, I mean.
think so
I'm overcome again.
Quick, put the Brut under Haz's nose!
you have gone past your destination?
Whoops, that seems to have made it worse.
She'll be getting the vapours next and then swooning all over and making the place look untidy.
Untidy, perhaps, but I'm sure she'll swoon in a suitable high-class manner.
Just googled it. In a masterstroke of marketing they got Paul Gascoigne to advertise it. That helped to make it severely unpopular.
And now it's time for me to put up my daughter's hair, and start in on lunch-time. Back later, all.
As if the smell wasn't enought to do that.
LMAO. Oh my
Bye Vi Hello BabbleR
fireworks for me!
For those who don't know, Paul Gascoigne was a footballer who famously attacked his wife.
Congratulations As.
I do love a small grid! :)

Hi jbp!!

bawk bawk
Angela, I LOVE the windchimes pic!!
Looks like
well, I think that most of these words must be very silly indeed for them to not be so obvious, and in such a small grid!
tx jbp! everyone else who's seen it (family/friends) wanted to know what I was smoking when I took it. I thought it was neat...
Do you know the song by Christine Lavin called "windchimes"?
no poetry in their souls :)

Hi blue welcome to the game!!
Blue, it depends. some folks use lickety's list below, and then they might ask for the aw4/9
Some (like me) try to not use it, and ask based on location
thank u, i am from Co Durham
hi blue
Do you have the grid of letters below the grid, indicating how many words are there for each letter?

You are doing well with this grid then as you only need 11 words, well done

past tense
ah, thanks!
Twas brillig, and the slithy toves were not allowed to gyre or gimble in the wabe, because Enable wouldn't accept it.
It's enough to make anyone all mimsy.
and the momeraths were as outgrabe as they could ever be!
Tragic, really.
hi Vi!
I did feel a teeny bit sorry for the Jabberwock who was obviouly misunderstood to some degree
d
sorry!
When it comes right down to it, he was just wiffling along, burbling happily to himself when SNICKER-SNACK!
Hello, Ata! =)
I mean, it came whiffling thought the tulgey wood burbling - clearly under the weather if you ask me.
LOL!!
You think burbling is a sad sound? It sounds sort of contented to me.
Cheerful little brooks burble, for example.
It was trying to cheer itself up! Wern't vorpal swords outlawed?
Not until the Blade Conventions of 1671.
Ahhh, yes you are right.
I think it's the jub-jub bird that was making all the trouble.
and the Bandersnatch joined in after he had been shunned and the rest is history.
Anyone that frumious is bound to be a bad influence!
Ata stop droling over Captain Jack!!
* hands Ata an absorbent cloth*
Well that was fun what shall we do next?
lol
You get to pick the next topic.
I can't I left my brain at a clients
Ata could read us a story
me?
Unfortunate. Let's hope they don't clean it up and throw it out before you're able to go back for it.
Oh, what's the story about, Ata?
Obsure and ancient seaweed?
Sounds intriguing!
ummmm ...
Thank you for coming. NEXT!
*sits criss-cross applesauce in eagerness*
No other applicants? Auditions over, lets go to the pub instead.
phone
No story? *quivering lower lip, welling tears*
(A likely excuse, Ata. How... convenient.)
Once upona time you were able to get decent story tellers, but not any more.
The End
LOL
Go on Vi you could do you party piece.
Well, we've already done the Jabberwocky.
I used to be able to do The Highwayman, but I doubt I've got it all down pat these days.
I can't do mine. Being a mime doesnt really work here.
And I can do only chunks of The Raven...
And nobody wants chunks of raven.
hi all!
i can do "ode to spot"
Nice fricassee of raven
True, FM. SOme art forms are not conducive to either chat or icon.
Hi fruit and hurshy
oooh, the moon was a ghostly galleon, tossed upon cloudy seas . . . i memorized that in high school!
the road was a ribbon of moonlight, over the purple moor.. "Highwaymen", a lovely poem
hi all.. just popped in to finish up
Fruit I looked at your flickr pics and put on 10lbs!!
Oh, no fair! Hurshy's here with some entertainment options, and now I have to go!
Oh look, we've got lots of Highwayman fans! Maybe we could get it all between us! =)
;) sorry!
We can had on the baton of entertainment to them Vi :)
ok back. what did I miss?
Except I'm about to have to spur off to the elementary school with the white road smoking behind me...
Ode to Spot? YAY hurshy!
when the highwaymen came riding, riding...the highwaymen came riding, up to the old inn door
shrieking a curse to the sky...
LOL Bye Vi and hello aloy too
have you French cocked hat?
i was so taken by that poem, i mean, i could hear the pounding of the hoofs
(Just one, Aloy. there was only the one highwayman! lol)
No, but I'm cock-eyed. Does that count?
they spoke not a word to the ... oh, ty Vicuna.. lol
Felis catus is your taxonomic nomenclature An endothermic quadruped, carnivorous by nature Your visual, olfactory, and auditory senses Contribute to your hunting skills and natural defenses
he spoke not a word..
wooooooooot!
um, Felis domesticus?
lol, hurshy!
*Cheeers, round of applause* Yay Hurshy
(there's more)
I'll be back later to recite "The Listeners" to anyone who hasn't run off and hidden yet.
Thing 1's favorite poem now is . . . The naming of cats is a difficult matter, it isn't just one of your holiday games . . .
I find myself intrigued by your sub-vocal oscillations A singular development of cat communications That obviates your basic hedonistic predilection For a rhythmic stroking of your fur to demonstrate affection
ahhh, music to my ears, Hurshy... applause..
A tail is quite essential for your acrobatic talents You would not be so agile if you lacked its counterbalance And when not being utilized to aid in locomotion It often serves to illustrate the state of your emotion
you may think at first I'm as a mad as a hatter when I tell you a cat must have 3 differentnames
Settles back to listen
O Spot! The complex level of behavior you display Connotes a fairly well-developed cognitive array And though you are not sentient, Spot, and do not comprehend I nonetheless consider you a true and valued friend.
yay data!
i gotta go now, bye!
last word: a we5.20 one? NOT ! so off I go, see y'all next grid! (-: Thanks for the lovely chat!
hello all -- I am here for a few. Have some nasty something that is making me cranky today.
bye hurshy...
Bye Aloy amd hurshy Quietly passes stiddy mug of something comforting.
*sipping at comfort and relaxing* thanks FM, I really needed that!

I think I shall grab the list now. brb
Impressed
Clue on 7?

"Is there anybody there?" said the traveller, knocking on the moonlit door...
Hello, Takuma. I haven't seen you in a while.
Hugs Vi, I've been waiting up for you, they all went home hun.
da4/7 - detective slang for fingerprints, or pokes with a paintbrush or a rag
Its a fish too
That was so kind of you, FM. =)
Oh, got the da 4/7. Feel pretty silly. (knocks self alongside the head...)
Literally and figuratively on the fish.
But only a host of phantom listeners That dwelt in the lone Babble chat then Stood listening in th quiet of the moonlight To that voice from the world of men...
just found the wi6 :)
sits silently
"Tell them I came, and no one answered, That I kept my word!" she said...
*sits beside FM and grooms her hair*
Does FM need her hair groomed? Or are you merely doing the social monkey thing?
well, both!
shouldn't you ask first??!
Ata's back!
no!
Umm, thanks but Ata overgroomed me the other day
waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
I had been wondering why you looked so picked over, FM, but I didn't like to ask.
Back into corner scared by all the catterwauling
i'm sorrrrrrrrrrrry FM... *sniffle*
Passes lil*m a conciliatory banana
Hola, Babblers! For those of you who want to reload the page, I've added a neat little blurb of news to the top of the site. :)
Hey Dr_G good to see you!
Hello, Dr_G.
*gets out Nilla wafers and makes 'nana pudding*
hi Dr_G
Hi Dr_G !!!
babble's in a book? really?!
We've arrived!
The news of babble is spreading far and wide!
So which of us wrote this book, anyway?
Any clues for 2nd da4 please ;o)
Haz!
da4/7 - derogatory term for Italians, I think
Thanx Vicuna great help ;o)
But I thought we knew who Haz really is. Has it all been a sham?
evening to you all x
Hello, lucyloo.
she's a master of mystery
Perhaps HAz is HAz and this is her nom de plume? Hi lucy
Well, I guess that's possible. Hmmm...
Remember the movie script we were working on, we had better get it copyrited
Shouldn't that be a Mistress of Mystery Ata?
if you're politically correct
Good point, FM. Or any day now we'll be hearing of a new movie by the famous Rosina Lippi, in which she steals all our contributions!
hi all, luckily for me this was a small grid!! Back to get my last 10 :)
I think herin would be the star
politics and mistresses pretty much go in hand don't they :)
lol, FM!
Hand in hand is the euphemistic way to describe it!
tongue in cheek more likely
sighs deeply, I know Vi, I just can't co-ordinate my brain/fingers
And now I'm off again. Sigh. TIme for piano lessons, and I suppose everyone will be off to bed by the time I return. And me with 4 blasted words still to find.
Yes I will be gone Vi as I am about to poof, enjoyed the poetry and fun
Goodnight, then! Just remember, poetry any time you want it!
*grin* Toodles

I am in Orange County
Why do you ask?
i saw in your profile that you are in Southern Cal, and wondered how close...the only other close babbler's are my family members
P.S. That is the biggest dog I have ever seen on your profile! It took up my whole screen! lol
LOL -realy? He is ctually very smal in real life
i guess the ppicture is mostly personality rather than size...I've had small dogs like that before!
LOL - I just opened the picture myself. I didn't realize it came out so huge - it was taken with a really high res digital camera (we were experimenting with one we were thinking about buying); but you get a good close up shot of his tongue!

it's just a babblet mom, 4 letters
fe4 ... sounds like a little red hat.
it sounds like the beginning of the man who say, "anybody want a peanut?"
I've heard old jewish men say the f4/8 as a sound of disgust or "so what"

which Tommy Cooper used to wear.

it's amazing how much food gets discussed in this chat room

i *am* a little strange; i am human
i am gonna have to try out grocery stores in the US now to see for myself if they are enjoyable!!

Hello all. I am home from work now and have 6 to find.
evening!
hello cousin! how's the bunnies today?
awesome scrabs. i'm just starting.
hi feather
hi scrabb
The bunnies are doing well and eating their evening salads. Hi feather
hey feathery! spring break started, over or still to come? (says the woman who is off her "work" this week while the kids are still in school -- heaven!)
MY BEST FRIEND IN THE WHOLE WORLD PLAYS TUBA
LOL darth! you sound enthusiastic!
we heard a truly lovely piece by the advanced brass choir as part of the concert, too. Amazing the sounds that can come out of instruments like that!
Feather, warning: this grid has lots of we5 and ee4 words!
easter break over, spring break up in a few weeks
I love brass music.
wow. you get TWO spring breaks??? *mind boggles and falls apart slowly*
ehh, that's ok scrabs!
well he is my bestie...we have been friends since kindergarden and will be both going to Michigan State :)
well you would love practice time in our household then, scrabbler... at least my kids have good ears and natural talent. Not too many ear-piercing sounds.
I am partail to the Woodwinds but I am starting to fall in love with techno Music.(every cool band person likes it) and I like Chamber Music now as well
sounds like you have a find long-term plan, darth. any ideas on a major? or ...
And I like the harpsicord---baroque music.
hi, all!
I like woodwinds also -- when played properly. Hard to listen to screeches and pops when kids are just learning, though.
hey pam!
Hi Pam
i like oboe
Major in music and teaching music, and minor in engineering
excellent choices, darth. *nodding mama head in approval*
night folks gotta go ! POOF!
hi, scrabs, stid, and all!
Math and music are interrelated, as you know, darth.
sounds very harmonious, darth!
sweet dreams pugmama
I love Clarinet and Bass Clarinet and Flute I HATE THE SAX AND Bassoon, sax because there are always so many and bassoon because they sound werid but I shouldn't say that one of my good friends plays the bassoon very well and was 1st chair at honor band
Bye pug
hmm, my grid optimism is already starting to plummet
...no....they have more in common then you would think
bye pug
I like the alto sax...
it was a toughie feather. I got to halfway pretty easily and listed from there. Took about an hour and a half I think.
Mine plummeted rapidly this AM, feather, when I was stuck after just several words.
LOL darth -- now see, I LOVE saxophones and bassoons. They are nice deep sounds.
i'm 10 words in
I take that back I LOVE the tenor...but it doesn't count as a sax because Ryan plays it and he used to play clarinet
go feather go! *holding breath*
Go feather go! Only 64 to go!
I still have 16 left - got called away by the phone :)
oh stid, honey, you'll pass out long before i finish!
you're doing great angela! holler if you-all need help. If I am around, I will clue.
thanks, stid - as always a great help when I need it most! :)
howdy
lol feather
ooh! ooh! the Mariners just took the le4!!!!! *jumping up and down and spilling beer and peanuts everywhere*
hey kje!
hi kje
Hi kje
Opening game, right, Stid? Settle down, only something like 160 games left in the season.
pssst! Scrabbler! It's your cousin's birthday!!!!
don't waste the beer stid!
basketball?
yep, opening game. THIS year we go all the way, I am certain of it!
baseball, angela
Tom? My sister Lisa's birthday is Apr 2nd.
Happy Birthday Tommy!
..Padres Open tonight as well
whoooops!
yep. Those Aries... *sigh* rather headstrong, ain't they?
Well, that describes Lisa, for sure.
Tom says, "Thanks!" (he really focussed on the game)
This is why I'm de** last in the basketball pool...sigh
I was rooting for Davidson in the NCAA men's basketball tourney. I was sad to see them be so close but lose yesterday.
well, not much longer and then baseball will be the only highly publicized game playing again...
i'm being too distracted by tv
oh, did they lose? we were at the concert...
*quietly turns off feather's TV and places laptop in front of her again*
They were close the entire game, even ahead briefly, then lost by 2 when their last shot didn't make it.
hey feather, would it be okay if I start another game with you? I know I am slow and all, but you're a great teacher.
Clue for d1 5/22
oh golly. That IS a close game!
oops da 5/22
there is a DA 5/22?
Harumph! "Dawgy" is not a word! Don't tell lbdawger!
it's past tense, da + high-point + past tense ending
oh yes of course! i didn't realize we weren't playing!
LOL shows how much you miss me when I'm gone! *folds arms for emphasis*
peace
perfect sentiment, darth!
well, i'm currently at 9 games, and was at 14 not too long ago...i tend to lose track easily!
i tried dawgy too... and the slang dawg - come on - no dawg!?!
I FOUND THE 8!
(slinks away....oops, i meant the 7)
woo-hoo feather!
okay, game started whenever you are ready.
cool, brb
All done. Now I need to take my Scrabble turns. I will check in frequently to give clues.
YAY scrabbler!!!!
bye scrabbler
s
yay scrab
and congrats
hey, how long has that game notes thing been there?
very cool photo angela!
I don't know -- just noticed it when I logged in now!
thanks kje :)
That game notes thingy is new for Scrabble. **making note to self: never, ever give Hurshy an opening for a huge play**
um, yes scrabbler, that's a given!
did my turns
facebook is being we5 today. NOTHING is working right the first few times I click on it. :-(
*sob* our game won't open for me!!!! *wail*
does anybody know how to get licketys clues added to my screen? thanks
there it goes... it took SIX tries!
oh that stinks!
be 6 anyone?
gapeach: there is a lickety browser -- you write to lickety for that. Otherwise, you can open http://licketysplitaus.googlepages.com /babbleclues in a separate window
i'm currently debating taking every single toy out of daniel's room so he'll actually go to sleep at night. he was just using power tools! well, kiddie ones.....
gapeach--e-mail Lickety (his address is on his page) and ask him to mail you Babble Expert.
be 6: first three letters of a musical instrument that goes "ding-dong" + the large man-made thing that holds back water to form a lake
Thanks y'all
rofl feather! sounds like a normal preschooler to me!
thx stid
me: "WHAT are you doing? Get back in bed! No more power tools!" and that's a direct qoute from a moment ago.
hmpf, owie is a word
Haha, Feather! At least they aren't real tools, or else the walls and furniture would be damaged beyond repair.
okay feather, another turn taken
ugh, finished the first pass and not halfway yet
yes, I know feather. This was not an easy grid for its size.
yes, very true scrabs! of course, yesterday he drew on the sheets with a pen, about 5 hours after i had just washed them. and then last night he took his pull up off (it was itchy) and went back to sleep, and peed in the bed. i love him very much, but he's driving me nuts!
have you tried to explain to him that his toys need their rest? tools and babies need their sleep!
he'd buy that if it was a creature or animal...i don't know about tools.
well, actually it's true. mechanical and electronic things need to rest periodically so they don't burn out. It's not sleep as we know it, but it is important.
and you know, of course, that drawing on sheets (walls, books, etc) is how Tomie dePaola got his start?
i did your game stid, but can't get into yours scrabs
wandering back in to re-apply myself to the grid...
ugh - too many interruptions...10 to go
Hi everyone.
my mom reminds me that i drew on my sheets with a marker, which made me feel better
hi jac
hi pam, jac, angela
what the hay is an "aia????"
hey jac!
*waves to feather's mom*
go angela!!!
feather - my husband used to carve his brother's name into things so he would get in trouble. :)
Stid - I've just been into BabAnon. Didn't find anything to do admin-wise. No we5/20 members trying to join or anything.
it's a great word to get rid of vowels! along with eau, naoi, toea, etc
i carved my name into my dresser. mom wanted to kill me.
Angela - your hubby sounds like he was an evil little kid. LOL
yes, things are pretty quiet there. It's rather easy to moderate (at the moment)
nice brother!
I took my turn in our game, Feather. I had to click around a lot to access 4 games.
it was a mutual torment feather, trust me :)
yeah, i'm having trouble getting to our game
nah, just trying to defend himself from the big brother Jacs.
LOL wait'll you see the word I came up with this time, feather! *giggle*
Featherbee, when Daniel is a teenager you will recall, with yearning, for the days when your biggest problems were kiddie power tools, ripping off a diaper, and drawing on sheets.
and i was just about to say i'm giving up on scrabble for the moment! now i have to keep trying!
oh no scrabs! *dum dum dummmmmm* the sound of future doom....
de 5/14?
YES!!!! another man in! (that's 3 to 1 at the moment)
When I was small I just couldn't resist picking at a loose seam on the wallpaper by my bed and then having a little pull of it. A piece ripped off and I knew I'd be in trouble if it was discovered so I got out my crayons and coloured the bit of bare wall in to match the missing wallpaper. When it was eventually discovered, I got into more trouble for 'being deceitful' than for ripping the paper!
de 5/14 is de + past tense to le** a horse to water
Adolescence is challenging for both the adolescent and his/her parents.
LOL Jac!!
Haha, Jacula.
oh boy...fishy squishy
oh, that one reminds me that i took a red crayon and made a tiny dot on several of mom's paintings...just to see if i could i believe
you said, it cousin. Which reminds me: you want a yard boy for the summer? He's looking for a home... *grimace*
hehe, first thing to pop into my head was "acid" stid
evening all - i have 14 to go and dy6/33 is perplexing me - any help would be appreiciated!
feather - LOL. Did you believe your whacked backside?
my last word, Jindigo: dy + if you can, you are **** (the word is also in the grid)
she never knew
wedding shoes are dy++++
and i don't think she knows to this day
Evening Jindigo. dy6 means something can be changed to another colour.
hello dubi!
dy +ab5/6
lol feather - hope she doesn't come in here to the chat log!
hey stid
wow - thanks! I had did not see that ending.
feather - are you ever going to confess to her?
Yes, Stid, I would love a yard/home helper for the spring + summer!
thanks Stid, Dub & Jac!
*checks over shoulder*
Maybe she saw the red dot and thought it meant 'SOLD'. That's what it usually means on a painting.:D
okay, I'll send him "boot mail" next time he acts up!
lol jac
hi, feather...
Scrabbs - I send you a friend invite on Facebook.
I have plenty of room here, Stid. And books for him to read. He could also shadow me at the office and hospitals.
*sent (yesterday).
lmao! daniel is too funny!
TY, Jacula! I will check.
Hi everyone...any help with the ae 5,12 and the ba 5,28 Please...
doug heard noises, so went down the hallway with heavy feet...daniel hears, dives under the covers....doug opens the door, daniel actually faked a snore! but then he giggled halfway through it!
Hi lori. ae + little Archbishop Tutu.
ba5/28 = what some old music hall acts were - a little risque.
he is funny, feather!
ae 5/12 is babblet: ae + past tense letters in reverse order + plural letter
Must be quite painful to snore and giggle simultaneously!
silly billy daniel!
okay, taking a short break for cake baking... back in about 30
Haha, Daniel! See, that is a funny story to tell him again someday, especially when his fiance is present.
bye stid
thank you for the great clues, but I still can't get the ba???
mmmm, save me a slice!
See you, Stid.
Ok, kids, I am going upstairs to read in bed and snuggle with Bunny Sebastian.
i'm saving up the love for disney princesses for that scrabs! he's going to go nuts in disneyworld in june
night scrabs
lori - try this for ba5/28 - if a child cries loudly, it ba*ls. Add the first 2 letters of changing the colour of something to the end.
'Night, Scrabbs.
thank you Jac!!!!!
Good night Scrabbs...Sweet Dreams.
y/w, Lori.:)
Check of my bio for an April Fools' Day joke you need to set up in advance.
ma 5/22?
Fireworks for me!!! Thanks again for the great clues!!
*out not 'of'. TSK!
ma5.22 - mouthed?
yay lori!!!
(Sounds like an old woman's name, btw.)
Well done, Lori.
thanks jac!
y/w, Angela.
ma5,22 = ma + to marry
Good clue, lori. (Why didn't I think of that? I always take the circular route. Sighs.)
hi kids
both great clues :)
hi fran
Hi, frantique.
hi, back. had a fascinating convo about tech and software dev with my roomie.
Sounds scintillatig, dcs.
Thats a really cool pic of your windchimes Angela
thanks fran - they've been a big hit today
it was, jacula, esp since i used to work where he works. :)
Hi all... just checking in...
Or even scintillatiNg! Wish I could type! Dratted keyboard!;-)
hi ruru
2 left
DC was it like the conversation i had with my cousin earlier, that now and then I think my computer doesn't let me do something just to mess with my head. LOL
Hi, ruru. Wish we got paid for checking in!
go angela go
wa 4/11?
wa4/11 = a thick pile of banknotes with the sometimes vowel to end.
wa + cons + sometimes vowell
show me the money jac
ty!!!
not at all franT, it was about Configuration Management Databases, bleeding edge developpment tools, and the like.
we 5/20 - first one?? too tired to think and it's the last one
I think it is we*** that you are asking for that clue
ruru - I wish I could! We could throw it in the air, roll in it, spray champers over it and laugh until our eyes were spinning. However.... haven't won the lottery... yet...
hey, ruru, long time no se.
see even. :)
got that one ruru - need the 1st
If anyone should win a lottery it should be you Jac... Hi DC long time is right How ya doing
we5/20 (1st) = married + Old ** Paso.
we= the farmer and the ***
nice clue jac..
oh cool,i'm a old dog, its hard for me to learn new tricks. I have access data base for keeping track of all my antiques collectibles and ebay sales, I've bastardsized it soooo many times that it malfunctions on me :-)
glory be! that's firewords for me!!
Thanks, ruru.
have they come up with a really easy data base for a dummy like me?
Way to go Angela!!!
Well done, Angela.
yeah angela good going!
can't thank you all enough - my husband too who is waiting to go to sleep :)
^*^*^*rah rah rah wtg angela ^*^*^*
For the finishers who have time to spare - see my bio for for funny film links etc. All virus checked so don't worry.
woo hoo! See you all tomorrow! *poof*
Angela - are you Babbling on a laptop in bed?
nope - in the office jacs
*Vision of Angela pulling out plug and disappearing under the duvet. Rest is censored.*
If I ever start babbling in bed I would be divorced
cute trick jac, re: banana
Ah. Vision was not quite correct, I see.
lol - soon enough! Really gone this time - poof!
anyone need clued before I also head off to bed???
feather - not tried that trick but I wonder if the banana would go black before the trickee could get to it?
i'm trying to think of what to do to my kids at school tomorrow
hmm, good point
My Dad, bless his soul, used to put cotton reels in the toes of my socks, tack (loosely sew) sleeve ends up etc.
LoL that will be a great one to do to them
lol
He once tied all of the cutlery in the cutlery drainer together with cotton. (Goodness knows how long that took to do!) When my Mum came to get it out next morning, the whole lot crashed out in one go.
lol
what a hoot, jac!
lol!
so do you have any ideas for what to do to a room full of kindergartners?
ugh, i teach it yet can't spell it
I think that was the same year as she played a trick on him. She wrapped the block of wood he used to wrap his sandpaper around up in greaseproof paper, because it was about the same size as his usual pack of sandwiches for work. She put his real lunch pack further down in his work bag. Thing was, he found the block of wood but not the sandwiches! That taught him a lesson. He was starving when he got hom!
lol
I'm trying to think what could be set up for a room of little kids...
can't really mess up the crayon baskets, as the leprechauns did that for st. patrick's day
Without any parents starting litigation for 'little Chuck or Sienna's traumatisation'...
actually, pretty much anything i do, they'll blame on the leprechauns at first i bet!
they're such creatures of routine...i could change the order of the lunch menu, rearrange our schedule...
sorry, got pulled away. i'm well. :)
I guess I am off to bed. Take care and good luck all...
Feather - having pudding before dinner will probably please them. LOL
g'night, lori ann.
How about mixing the pudding with the dinner? Don't know what the menus are but how about Chips, burger and raspberry jam? That sort of thing.
'Night, Lori.
no, just mean changing the signs for what they're picking. everything in the room has its place, if i change the order they'll be thrown for a loop
oooohhh, no, but that gives me an idea for snack time....
What, feather?
we normally put a few crackers or something in a little 3 oz. cup. we could put pebbles, or something else unedible! then have the real snack afterwards.
Whatever trick you play, it has to be done before midday or else you are the 'fool'.
clue for be6 please?
Maybe not pebbles, feather. Some little twit might choke on one.
dr, mental hospital anagram - word from hospital means not well managed, crazy.
lol
good point
DR - be6 is an old word for an old hag. It's not that different to my phantom of the day, which means lunacy and was the name of an old mental hospital here in UK.
ok... looking***
Feather - how about dog biscuits in place of the crackers? At least if any kid eats one it won't kill him/her.
DR - the full version of that word was originally two words (French) meaning 'beautiful woman'.
can't do that, there's a snack that's called scooby snacks, looks like dog biscuits! they'd all eat it
ty Jac and DC- I found it!
firewords :)
Do you have mini Bonios in the States? (Small bone-shaped dog biscuits.)
i'm thinking crayons or something like that. just something in the classroom.
Yeah DC!!
Well done DR and dcs.
we have, jac, mini Milk Bones
oh i just read a prank online... move your hubbys car, before he leaves for work. he'll think its been stollen
feather - do you have one of those computer blackboards in the room? You could turn the page upside down or sideways.
there was another one, add food color to milk in a paper container
hi dc, frantique, and anyone else I haven't seen yet today...
hi, pam
hello\
hi :-)
fran - the car one is v. cruel. LOLOLOL. *Eyes other half's hi4 car he's got since someone smashed into his car on Saturday.*
nope, i don't, but that'd be cool!
Hi, harp.
and darn, we can't get in to change the properties on the destop of the computers, or i'd do something there.
hi, harp
Shame, Feather. You could act like it was right way up and really confuse them. You could even start worrying if anyone had a cricked neck if they'd worked it and and were trying to read it.
love the colourised rings, harp! hello
hi all
hee hee
6 to go - can anyone clue ma 5/22 please?
thanks, is today still saturn day? i'm confused
You're a wicked woman, feather!
how about the one that you put a post-it note under the mouse so that it doesnt work
coul i have a clue for ba5/28 please
ma5.22 = mouthed?
m = a4/9
ba5/28 = risque, like music hall songs were.
ba 5/28 is ba 4/11 plus sometimes vowel LuwandaHL.
ba 5/28 is the one before with a sometims vowel ending
*grins*
thanx - duh!
for about ten years, every 4/1, I would take last year's newspaper and put it on my mother's porch, removing the current one for next year
oh that's good harp
thank Luw & Jac!
LOL, Harp. Did she eventually rumble you?
she never really caught me, but my bil did
then she started taking extended trips and wasn't always home on the first
LOL too funny newspaper I like that one!
Aw, shame. But did she ever realise she was reading year-old news?
Hello to all!Just popping in to say I just got fireworks
i eventually told her
Did she whack you, Harp?
Hi, Min. Well done!
yay, min and all finishers.
I guess she didn't realise about the year-old news stuff if you had to tell her, Harp?
gotta go pay bills. bye!
i got the idea in 1979 when I spent a summer on an island, the only newspapers and magazines were usually 3-4 weeks old and we were happy to have them. one day i saw a newspaper, and thought to my self, this one is only a week old, not bad! I was quite a ways into it before i realized it was a year old....
Good luck feather, don't clear the account out!
I think i'll tell my hubby that i'm preggo. hahahaha.. me 48 he 50 thats the last thing we'd want! LOL
it was same old stuff-- a new pope, an african coup, a trucker's strike, gas prices increase, the president fires his cabinet....
Wish I could stay and clue, but must get to bed early!
Nothing really changes, does it, Harp?:-/
Goodnight to my fellow babblers!I'll see you tomorrow
hugs all, have a fun aprils fool day tomorrow !
Fran - That's NOT funny!
well, i'm ashamed to say it was the comics that made me realize....
or perhaps Dear Abby
Hope he sees the joke! 'Night, Fran.
'Night, Min.
Which comics, Harp?
da 5/22 anyone please?
i don't remember, after all it was 29 years ago!
I've no idea what 'Dear Abby' is but if it was the problem page they've changed a heck of a lot since I used to read 'Dear Cathy and Claire' in Jackie mag.
dy6?
dy6 = something that can have its colour changed.
yup, advice column, Abigail Van Buren had one and her sister Ann Landers had another
harp - add ab 4/6
da5/22, Jind = same as ma5/22.
thanks
i apparently am blind to that ending
5,22 = d+ an expression of utter disbelief in past tense
once again - thank you Jacula
*pokes head in again* hi all! feather if you're still here, I got a doozy of a good play!
Hi Stid
Back in the 70s, all the teen problem pages had to deal with was 'I fancy this guy, how can I make him see it', I've got spots, what can I do', 'I think my boyfriend wants to French kiss me... should I let him' etc.
These days it's 'Position of the Week' and worse!
hey DR. lovely icon today!
ty.. I am keeping it for the solar system theme
brb
Back then, if a girl got a love bite, she was deemed to 'have done IT'. These days they ask what is the most fashionable pattern to display love bites in.
Amongst their various body piercings, that is.
lol, now the advice columns are things like "what should I tell my grandmother about my daughter's sex change operation?"
Exctly, Harp. Whatever happened to innocence?
just came back for a sec to see if i'd missed anything interesting...what is it stid?
darn, missed her.
Harp - don't you mean 'what should I tell my daughter about my grandmother's sex-change op?
lol, or how do i tell my grandchildren that I'm gay?
bills are done.
last one be 6/30 please please please?
I don't read those mags., or watch those programmes on TV, but my ex MIL does and sends me her mags. I flick through them for recipes etc and try not to see all the 'he stabbed me for love!' and 'my baby was born with 3 heads' type stories. Or he's gay an so am I and so are all of our chidlren, bar one. Can you help him to be part of the family?
this is our mainstream, daily newspaper
No wonder my ex MIL is so depressed if that's all she reads and watches. *sighs*
be5/16? perty pleaz?
be6/30 is like the nut house/mental hospital but change middle to consonants around.
This word was clues comprehensively earlier.
be5/`6 = go there when you're tired + Old ** Paso.

Good for you, harp.

Jacula - i'm not getting it. Its my last one and i am tired and cranky.
dy 6/33 for fireworks please
jindigo - do you mean the be6?
Chris - yes
Looking back on past posts... I would bet my life savings, if I had any, on the fact that, when they finally cart me off to drool in an armchair in the old folks' home or ward, I will still spel every big word perfectly.
just won't "spel" the little ones perfectly! lmao
Even if I couldn't spell 'Spell'.;-)
dy 6/33 is dy + ab 4/6
getting a snack, brb. if stid comes back, let her know i want to hear her plan!
I wonder if there will be a special ward opened for Mad Babblers?
allow me to be the first to check in -

thanks - that fire works - now for the be 6. We'll ring the be*l + water over the ***
Well, i's 3.35am in UK and I'm still awake. Other Half, who's had a week off and then had o get upp 4:30am for work earlier was not amused when the night owls in the house (me, son and his g/f) 'buggered off to bed' just as he was going to work.
lol chrisk
Daughter and her b/f are currently in St. Petersburg (Russia). Home on Thursday.
Jindigo - since you're first in, please make sure there are proper tea and coffee making facilities.
Also, proper labelling for spectacles, hearing aids, false limbs etc., and NO boil washing of residenta' garments.
chris - (sigh) am not getting it - Jacula: I am off to put the kettle on.
gy 5-24 please. thanks
gy 5-24 please. thanks
Well, I hope they are in St. Petersburg 'cos not heard a word since they left.
gy 5/24: gy + what you sleep in
it's pretty stoopid, if you ask me! LOL
the 5/22 is the same but plural version instead of past tense
gy5 = past tense of gy4. (Toook a sarcastic or teasing shot at.)
Got It! Fianlly - fireworks
Well done, Jind.
Thank you very much.
This was the worst grid for me.
Hooray for Jind!!
stid, you have a prank for me?
Thanks Jacula and Chris for the help

Night, chrisK.

Hello. Meg.
Any hents on BE/30?
=)
Getting sick of clueing it, Forbes. Old word for an old hag, from the French of 'beautiful woman' but scaled down. Anagram of mental hospital where mayhem was the norm.
i have no idea o_-
Mental hospital word is be* (where you sleep) + first 3 letters of baby sheep word.
Swap the d and l around.

well -- I don't know exactly the dates yet, but when I do, I can let you know -- not sure whether meeting on SSI or the big island is better. We are dependent once we cross the water on buses and others for transport.

de 5/14 is past tense the 5/12 that comes after

Hiya guys
hi ya stid
hey jandy! (sharing flags, but not weather...)
you finally made the grid the other day.. i am so proud of you
i need the two 4/8 words too
which ones ml
Hey stid...(blowing nice sunny, warm autumn day down the line!)
both 4/8 words sound the same. Two vowels in the middle, one is a double vowel
take off the last letter off the 5/20
ty stid
one we 8 is we + **ate (made
mad
I can offer you frosty nights and pretty daffodils, Jandy! LOL
**ate (mad)
the other is we + (emergency room)
brb. see you after flip!
I don't mind the frost so much, stid. And we used to have daffodils in our old house (one of the few places in Oz cool enough to grow them) but now we have a water-friendly native kind of a garden.
