She had her surgery - Dr said it was a success. She's in a world of pain, but Dr thinks bone is quite strong and with plate and bone graft he thinks recovery will be faster than expected - so that's great news. It'll take a week or two for her to get over the surgery though - and then a year on antiobiotics. She has 3 entry sites - chest for portacath, hip for graft, and arm (10cm) for graft, plate and screws.

Hi all. Re the dentist thing, Herin. Since my old dentist (who's only about 4-5 years older than me) decided to retire early after a) becoming disenchanting with the National Health Serice rules and b) breaking a thumb whilst skiing, a thumb that didn't readily heal, and then decided to sell the practice on to a Sikh couple, all I can say is that the new man (not met the wife yet) is far more 'private practice savvy' than my old dentist was. I can't get a bloody thing done there now! He denies bits of fillings have fallen out, 'It's just the shape of the tooth'. Yea, right! And, if some work is reuired, pullss the damned tooth out. Last visit wasn't quite the same. He said he could help re collapsed molar and discoloured front teeth - to the tune of almost £1,000 and no guarantee that the molar wouldn't have to be removed if the cap didn't work.
