I was very hurt by that accusation that our kids are terrified of us. We wrote a letter to her teacher to tell what has happened, as background for him with the girls, but also to prevent some messy sordid attempt from them to get rumours going. The teacher has taught our son too, he knows us so very well.

we had a new rule after that, no car doors close until the kids waved their hands over their heads
same here. You feel like you should have known, but then again it is so natural to reclose a door when it doesn't close right.
that is like what I did to my daughter... I put her into her baby restraint on a really hot day... she was screaming and screaming and I was so fed up and tired, I just got in the car and drove home, ignoring her crying for the half hour trip.

I used to scream at my exs kids mum for her stupidity of putting her 3 year old in the front seat (up to the age of 5 the kids are meant to wear a four point harness seat
yes meli... I had no bloody idea! she was a crier and I thought she was just being tired and not wanting to sleep... I felt like a right bitch after that!
yes now days its sure laziness on the parents part to not put their kids in seats, back when my kids were little they did not even have them, other than those carrier things for the wee little babies

when I was a kid we rode where ever in the back of the truck spawled out on the seats where ever you fit you sat
parents must take all safety precautions there are available. Not doing so is laziness indeed. We are their protectors. That is why it is unbearable if we hurt your kids ourselves, it feels so bloody awful if that happens.

my kids definitely do not like the consequences of breaking the rules, lol. But they are never scared of us.

I remember one time when I was little and riding in my grandmothers station wagon, all of us kids (like 5 of us) were in the back all the seats were laid down and we were just back there goofing around, and grandmum had to slam on the breaks and all of kids flew clear into the back of her seat and some flipped over the seat into the front seat, luckily no one was hurt bad, but it could of been horrible

exactly... that is why the seats are important. Parents learn, and society as a whole learns. Safety seats are mandatory (?) here now.
My daughter's best friend has a brother who drowned as a baby... the boy survived and is a vegetable... but the mother is destroyed. She was in an institution for 2 years after it happened and is so old and grey now... she is younger than I but looks 70 and has no life in her eyes. Just seeing that makes me realise that you are so fragile and a misguided accident can have a permanent impact that will never leave you. It is too scary to think about, seeing her suffer, and her little boy

Not exactly. He was three weeks early, born in the wee hours of the day they said he would not be premature and coule be born at home (which he was), but his lungs had lagged a tiny bit in development and one of them developed a hole, and he subsequently suffered a collapsed lung.

Yes indeed! He almost needed reanimation but his heart never stopped. Due to blood gas issues we were concerned about brain damage, but they did a full ultrasound workup when he was three days old and he is right as rain.
Well, as right as his parents are... we're weird.

I would dust IF we didn't have the forced air heat. In the winter it just stirs up all the particles again and makes one crazy. I cover the few things I need to keep pristine.

Finally sorted the insurance. Went yesterdat to the physio. He twisted me into a bizarre pretzel shape and shoved until ther ewas a crunching sound, and suddenly I am walking without dragging my leg and I did not take my pain pills today. My grandmother had to wear a school uiform, and she always had to werar her older sster's old ones and was teased.
our children normally start real school at 5 (kindergarten) -- preschool is optional but often starts at 3.
I wore a uniform in 6th and 7th grades when I was in a parochial school. The first year the uniform was new, the second year it wasn't. I looked pretty shabby next to some of the better-off students.

That was the idea when my grandmother went, but wearing hand-me-down uniforms meant that was not the case at all after all. She got bullied for being poor and unable to have her own new uniform.
One boy used to dip the ends of her braids in his ink well, and her mother had to be up all hours scrubbing and drying the uniform. Didn't have a spare.
