that storm in oklahoma is something to behold
saw that tonight; definitely
hi josh
hope all is well with you mrp
wasn't it the worst tornado ever?
am seeing the news about the US having weather trouble... hope all is ok
it's up there...but not the worst
50 + dead mrp (in Oklahoma)
it's almost outside of the definition of a tornado, like a spontaneous super compact hurricane
Belated Thank you, Lickety! (running slow tonight...)
It is heading our way but should have slown down considerably from what OK was hit with.

we are shaken by the tragedy. a whole third grade was drowned. my teacher daughter in Wis called crying. those details may not be on the news yet. it's storming here in Illinois, but nothing. a little thunder.
oh no RB... that is bad news indeed!
That is awful!
hard to go to bed and sleep I'll read calvin and Hobbes
they said some kids got stuck in a lower level that flooded, no gruesome details other than they couldnt get to them fast enough
Oh my gosh...that is terrible.
a mile wide and 61 miles long it was
there has been no shortage of deeply saddening news coming out of the US lately
an oklahoma friend called with the details. the kids were sheherded to the basement, then the walls fell in and the place flooded.
heartbreaking, roundbarn

I'm going to check the weather and see where the storm is now. Keeping all those who've suffered this awful storm in my prayers. Stay safe all.

Hello very late
was busy checking bridge results
yes, you are jilli, kitchen duties first?
ah, I didn't bother looking at them - I was falling asleep tonight
my poor partner
Hi Jilli and flosey :)
hi Liz
hi ..late here too
went to a baseball game
did your team win?
yes
:D
JMC is not going to be pleased however
Hi ru - glad your team won :)
oh
who is your team, ru?
our team was 3rd N/S -- we were both sleepy too.
SF Giants
Thought it would be, ru
heard it called, jilli, wtg
we had a lot of lousy cards so had to play defense mostly.
you and I held same cards
of course. I had my back to the crowd so didn't see who was playing NS
Ugh -- I see there are 40 C words!
P and J had an amazing night
peanut butter and Jelly?
that's their team name?
no first letter of each
but pb&J would suit one quite well
one is quite rotund
you mean horizontally challenged flosey?
yes
quite
a very happy chap, always smiling
I was glad we didn't have to confront them -- they are intimidating. P will be gone next week.
me too jilli - always seems like a lost cause
do you mean gone for the Summer? I was surprised to see him still around, had heard he was heading north
he's heading for the interior, he said.
Kamloops way, I think?
I think so
i'm calling it a day.. night you two
night ru
gnight ruru xx
I must get to bed, goodnight jilli and anyone else who might be around
me too flosey -- goodnight and to anyone else too...*poof

{{ssprite}} I was just talking about you with Burt' you must have heard me
we had two hours of demi=sun yesterday and today it's raining AGAIN
aw how sweet :) Please tell Burt hi from me, and a big hug... and one for you as well of course.
happily, almost everything has been planted and I don't think it's possible that we'll get any frost, but spring has surely passed us by
oh wow, sun. Raining here as well, and it is unpleasantly cold.
Rob is finishing my veggie garden containers! I can plant the seeds soon now.
would you mind telling me again how you plant potatoes in containers? I'm not doing it, but my housekeeper is and I couldn't quite remember
tear
oh it is easy. You only fill up the bottom of the container with soil, then you plant the seed potatoes. Once the leaves come up, you cover them with soil again. Repeat until container is full of soil.
and then?
then just water when necessary. The potatoes will fill the whole container. When the leaves die, the potatoes can be harvested. But they will keep well in the ground until late autumn at least.
ty
np, glad to share. Sometimes people do it with car tires, they add a new tire every time the leaves come up.
oh one final thing: if she wants to do it again next year, she needs new soil. Potatoes kinda drain the soil from nutrients and they attrack some bugs.
I gave her some large clay planters which woud be perfect

sprite - have you planted tomatoes?
I work up at 5 but, fortunately, got another 2 hrs after that
hi dianne

hi ruby
hi Dianne :) No, not yet. Hope to, in a week.
hiya Triffles, silly, you need your sleep. Shall I sing you a lullaby?
can I plant a tomato plant in a coffee can?
dianne, we put the tomatoes in last Thursdasy and are keeping fingers crossed because it's still so cold
oh, yes please sprite!
in dutch please
yes, sure, Dianne. Just make sure you only have one, so it can grow out to size.
Slaap, Triffles, slaap daar buiten loopt een schaap een schaap met witte voetjes die drinkt zijn melk zo zoetjes slaap Triffles slaap daar buiten loopt een schaap
zzzzzzz
I'll start the seeds inside and then when they sprout put one plant per coffee can.
instant remedy, lol
punch a hole in the bottom, dianne
hahaha - now I will be up for hours trying to guess what that says
that should work fine, Dianne :)
I think we can guess what slaap eans!
I think it means:
sleep triffies, sleep
oh, as most lullabies, it is more about the sound than the meaning. Literally translated it goes like: Sleep, Triffles, sleep outside walks a sheep a sheep with feet so white and it drinks its milk so sweetly
hehehe, correct!
lovely
Hello everyone. I feel relaxed already with that Sprite
with little feet so white, actually. Forgot the diminuitive
hi lyn :) xxx How lovely to see you.
oh, great idea! kiddo cant sleep, so terrify them with the thought that a giant, milk sucking sheep is sneaking up on them! slaap well, little kids....haahaha
*giggles*

hahahahahaa
*checks if ruby's feet are small too... yes they are* Here's your milk then!
off I go, see you later not half, no nbt or nbs

but at least your daily do4 of babblers. Bye ruby, have a good one.
Trif, just read your profile.....words to live by. Thank you.
hi and bye peach
Sweet dreams, ruby.
hi peach
you are most welcome, peach.
no no, it's morning here hahah
Hi there, sprite. You OK today?
but re-sleep would be nice.....
Of course, ruby, I just forgot about the time difference
I am fine! Wishing for the ra4 to stop and Spring to commence, but otherwise fine. Thanks for asking :) How are you today?
phantom: treacle
oo ni4 one
I didn't get very much accomplished today....but I'm tired and it seems that I should have gotten more done. But it is almost 4:30AM here, so I guess it is OK to be tired.
absolutely. It is ok to be tired and it is ok to not have done all you thought you should. Be kind to yourself.
If you all have seen the news of what has happened in the midwest....please pray for the victims families.
I second what sprite said. give yourself credit for what you got done, give yourself permission to get to the rest later
I never watch the news. But I will pray for all who are in pain and mourning.
it is tragic, peach.
Thank you all for being here. I'm going to start winding down now. Blessings.
bye for now, peach. Have a lovely, peaceful evening.

oh exciting! You are gonna hvae so much fun :)

what a lovely thing to say! I will have to remember that
wow, the birds are really getting going this am
they go wild here as soon as the sun appears, but that is hardly ever, these days. It is so autumnlike. But without the lovely colours of autumn.
im going to try to get a little more sleep before the alarm goes off. MUCH love, sprite my friend
sleep well, Triffles. I'll gently sing you to sleep.
fireflies. Bye all :)
Good Day Everyone!
hey puglet. are you having a good day?
Hi Rose--so far so good! We are in for storms off and on today--I thank God each time we go with out damages-----And how about you?
oh, puglet, have been listening to the news...50 tornados in 6 states. and the worst hit, oklahoma.please keep your de4 self safe, and all of your family.
puglet, was originally going to work 12md to 9:30 pm tomorrow. now starting at 9am. much better.
i have wept and prayed for those poor children, and indeed for all who have been so sorely hurt by these storms.
I am now in Israel for the first time in 35 years.
Those are better hours--When I did work away from home I worked the nightshift mostly.--As for the storm its mostly in Gods hands--Will do what I can though. I feel so bad for them in OKL. So many kids still missing
and this is good, kaplan?
it is strange for me. I plan to see some people who I never thought I'd see again. But also, the country is so built up I don't recognize it.
do you get tornados there Rose
awww, kaplan. do so hope your time there is fruitful for you.
Ive seen on tv the mass building thats going on there Kaplan. Hope you enjoy your visit
puglet....didn't used to have tornadoes...more cyclones and typhoons. but lately....yes, we have had some pretty impressive storms here also.
Not picking grapefruit this time.
I have 10% power left on i-pad.
byeeee kaplan...unless you find a power source real fast...
By being on here I get to travel the world---something I wouldnt get to have done in my life time. lol
know what you mean, puglet. i have been to canada, france, england, wales, scotland, africa.....
I have been to East Overshoe.
How nice Rose! Did you enjoy the traveling?
Ive never been outside the states and not into many states with-in our own state
morning OO
puglet, have travelled through the eyes, ears and minds of my babble friends.
No matter where I go though its always nice to return home
and, yes, puglet. i love travelling. physically have been to fiji, vanuatu, new caledonia and new zealand. plus many places in australia in the states of victoria, tasmania, new south wales, queensland, south australia and western australia.
hey 0-0
yes i know, the northern territory stands out as the one place i have not visited/seen within australia...also a lot of our islands off our coast. plan on rectifying THAT i can assure you.
Is that in your plans on your upcoming vacation
a
not at this time puglet. i need a lot more time to travel to the northern territory. i think i will keep it for when i retire....
hello pompey
Well I hope it happens for you then Rose!
thanx, puglet. it maybe sooner than both of us think.
i am soooo looking forward to retirement. last february it has been 43 years since i entered the work force. i figure, by paying taxes for all that time, i have ea4ed the right to retire. lol
Do what you can while you still can do it--
I would say so Rose!
well, i can retire, providing i use my superannuation as a pension fund. the government will not pay me a pension for another 3 1/2 years....go figure.
unless i am able to receive a disability pension...not sure if that would be enough....
Ive always worked too Rose! Mostly hard work and Iam paying for it now. I came from a large family and we worked as kids at home. Paperroute--cleaning for elderly people in the town and taking care of our animals and home. Ive had several jobs-many years at some and no so many at others but I always enjoyed working--guess we got it at home--lol
If it werent that Iam needed here at home -I would go back into the workforce
understand puglet. would be willing to work for another 10 years...if the fibromyalgia wasn't so debilitating. i do the best i can...but in my line of work, it's not fair on my colleagues.
Rose, what is fibromyalgia
phantom = batteries
Morning Sug
puglet, it is a disorder which affects all connective tissue within our bodies...in particular our muscles. i suffer from muscular spasms and cramps, and tremors/shakes. also several other aspects, like nausea, elevated body temperatures, digestive disorders.
hey sug
Is it kind of like ms? Have you had it very long?
aaah Rose Iam sorry you have to suffer so--I will put you in my prayers
puglet, have been officially diagnosed since 2003,have had the symptoms since 1982.
And I bet your stress does not help either
i went through menopause at the age of 34 years old. and when a heap of musculo-skeletal problems started, i was curious, as well as worried. this isn't as bad as MS thankgoodness.
ahhh, puglet, on the mark as always. yes...stress does exacerbate the condition.
Yes that is a blessing--I got a childhood friend that has ms and its so sad to see her keep wasting away
My sister lives a few houses down from her and she goes and helps her clean and whatever. But she falls from her chair(wheelchair) alot and my sisters husband has to go and help her up. She lives alone now. But shes always in good spirits though
puglet, does she not have a safety belt on her wheelchair? it would certainly save your friend a lot of physical hurt if she didn't fall quite so frequently.
She does but I think she falls moving from place to place
button stuck--sorry
oh, of course. like between chair and bed? for instance....
Yes!

hi TOwl
Anniebrook-when you go to the museum, you don't have to pay the suggested admission....you can pay whatever you feel is appropriate so don't feel that you have to pay what they ask
good morning Jeff
Jeff, thanks, I know that
have fun
It is expensive to enter museums nowadays
thanks, Jeff
Our Cincinnati Museum of Art is free but you have to pay for parking unless you purchase something from the gift shop
how are we all today?
At the Met, you pay for parking and entrance fee
fine and you?
that is not the case with ours. however, wednesday nights are free and i think the first sunday
Didn't you say parking is $40.00, Annie
doing ok. ready for the long weekend. :)
I hope it is a great one for you, Eva
Yes, Mom
that is unimaginable for me
wow. that is really high
Yes, very high...it depends on how long you stay (I think)
Come down here, Annie. Parking is only $5
i paid 10 to park all day when i was in town last week. but not in center city, rather at the unive of pa
The $40.I paid was to park in the museum's parking garage (not a private lot)
I hate to leave good company but I must start my day.
((Hugs)) to all of you
so at least some goes to the museum.
bye Mom
Annie, would a private lot be cheaper
((((mom)))) hagd
pleasant dreams, Lynxxx
(((TO)))) you as well. Thanks
I once parked in a private garage near The Jewish Museum and it was $60.00. We almost fell down.
I would say so
oh my!
The garage was not part of the museum. I dont think that museum has a garage, not enough space
Acreage is very expensive on the Upper East Side.
just talked with someone here who got rid of her car. our public transit, though, is not as good as yours. after rush hour it is rather dangerous.

I am at my in-laws but am going to see some dear old friends in Moshav Nechalim- long-lost "family."
we can live vicriously with globetrotting days over
ah, sounds like fun!
hoiwdy,jmc
I think mine will be over after this trip.
I found Rome to be overwhelming.
hello jmc
my fingers are betraying me at every keystroke today:(
me, too, but I was only there once and found is too much
Thin line between high art and kitsch.
don't mind me i is just here looking for L words. . .haha
although I've been in Venice a little, mostly I know it from movies
haha, good luck with that, jmc!
look at the pictures online and rome looks like any other crazy big city stuffed with tons of people, just some of the buildings are older is all lol
exactly. . . took me 5 - 6 words before i realized my error
I think I prefer movies about Rome to Rome itself.
and the gelato is 10 times as expensive hehe
Open City.
i loved staying in rome but it was about 40 years ago. . .
I've only been in the Rome airport (on my way to southern Italy) and never to Venice
Sort of how I felt about Honolulu...glad I saw Pearl Harbor etc...but wouldn't go back again
...sorry about your Nats jm :D
<----thinks she needs to go traveling....
I wanted to buy a bobbleheaded pope. And why would they sell Marilyn Monroe figurines at the Trevi fountain?
Now, the Sistine Chapel...
i would go to venice or rome again... and again...
I would never go back to Oahu
i bet ru! haha
I'm going to New Zealand
but, there are also other great places i haven't gone yet that i would like to go
Venice si, Roma- nota so mucha.
don't think i would go to new zealand - not worth the jet lag.
i would go to zanzibar again in a heart beat
but Venice is great in movies: Don't Look Now, Death in Venice, The Combort of Strangers, and the old one with Katherine Hepburn
and i hope to hit Ireland this year:) we are going all over the place
i like florence better than rome tho
and the italian job
my current goal is bejeing next summer
I like Sienna the best
fred and ginger in the correspondent was in venice yes?
is the Italian Job any good? I've never seen it
'Ireland is lmost as green as here lol
well,we havea rough plan, but it is in the early stages and i pray it does not derail itself
i hope you make it happen crossy. . .
I hope you can go, crossy, the food is lovely
I must get to work, and will have to leave early to get to the game (or to the patio party, anyway) - see you all later!
and the people1!!!!!
bye uu
{{sue}}
hagd uusue...the blushing bride!! :-)
i pray so as well.the game plan as it is now is to fly in to dublin.then 45 min drive to Trim where soodles daughters work in the hotel industry and will hook us up with a good place.we want to hit the giants causeway in northern ireland, but after that it is all wide open.we want to stay for 2 weeks
tc suze

what draws bees to flowers hursh
that's the one i was talking about
that i have
and the peach like fruit
add more to the bee word
ah the peach-like fruit, thanks!
i see our ot 5/10 alt spelling water creature is back for a second day:)
why did i think racine was a word?
ty crossy...love these unasked for clues...
i try racine every time -- french word enable doesn't like . . .
3rd day crossy
np,jilly
sometimes i just feel like throwing one out there
two more and I can list
going for 50% ru?
just 50 left..
40 c's.... ugh
slow going now though
(whining!!)
*waves to kje*
Ruru, I touched base with harpjane on getting together in June...maybe trentsnana can join us as well...have dates yet?
you had to tell me there were 40 c words didn't you? :(
I need to store up all these urges to slap you for the next time we meet...
c words suck, crossy
yes..Bozeman on the 31st and 1st and Big Sky Sunday.
they do indeed, kje
isn't not slapping people in your oath on being a doctor?
:D
no... I would never take such an oath ; )
LOL.. I"ll bet on that
Of may?
May/june rather
and what have you been doing,ru,to deserve all this slapping?
smart mouthing
May 31st - June 3rd
*innocent look*
the usual
*blinks*
heck, crossy is a smart arse 24/7 you would have to beat me to a pulp if we met,kje
bozeman on the 1st might work, harpjane needs to do it on a Saturday or Sunday
I got enough smacking as a kid
I will let her know..
Let's shoot for breakfast in Bozeman
*puts mother look on* now children NO HITTING!!
LOL, maybe brunch...6 hour drive for us...
wow.. that's too far
Hi everyone....clue for ac/7 please?
I'm going to yellowstone too
back in a few.have to reset my babblevision
Will chat with harpjane....heck, us Montanans drive that all the time...possibly we could go over Friday night...
I think it's meant to be, just checked the mass schedule and neither of us have music assignments that weekend!
phantom: treacle
a treacle well!
clue for ac/7 please?
Hi hurshy!
hi
i don't think I'm in till late Friday and I'll be with my friends in Bozemen that night.
Maybe before we leave for Big Sky.
I'll check with my friends on the schedule.
don't have it, flask
me neither - it's one of the 2 middle a's i'm missing
Breakfast on Saturday might be best...like I said, harpjane and i could come over on Friday...
Thanks kje...at least you answered me.....thats the second time of asking.....!!
ac7 is the chemical word
just got back.. sorry flask
starts with high value card and ends in sugar ending, flask
perhaps people don't have it so they do not anser, flask. you want a clue and they cannot give it
<---sugary like me :D
starts with "ass" sound... make of that what you will, ru
TO The first time I asked I even said hi everyone....and never got an answer!
<---feels warm and fuzzy all over now
sorry flask I was in the kitchen
oh, c's...
what is a sugar ending???
glucose, fructose...
sucrose
sorry flask, I know how that feels....
well, i for one am going back to lurk mode. good luck
you know, it's really ironic. when i was a toddler, my favorite alphabet block was the one with C on one side and P on the other side. and now those are the letters that are meanest to me!
in this case it's a vinegar ending and not sugar as the "doctor" said
glucose
sucrose
fructose
It hurts me Jilly.....
it really doesn't do to make too much of these chat things, i think
it doesn't mean anything
Well am none the wiser.....lol
I think people come and go all the time and miss a lot of the chat..
I agree....
Not for everyone....what does cost just to say hi back to some-ne....
I would have if I was here. I was making breakfast for mrs ru when you entered.. but HI now
i just think you'd feel better if you didn't take it to heart.
very true...perhaps am just over-sensitive!!!
JIlli is that way too.. she gets upset when people miss her posts
hi, folks
hi welki
hi welki
hey flask.. let me log out and reenter and you can ignore me :D
jilli, not jilly....LOL...I just keep babbling and posting until noticed
Hey there welki
That's your celtic spirit Flask. I agree with the others, don't be offended.
the trouble is, everyone is different. some people have mental illness, and it's a big struggle for them to converse with people at all, even online. some of us (like me) find the fillers of regular conversation rather tiresome and actually prefer NOT to be said hello to when we come in and just start chatting away on some topic or asking for clues. so there is no one way to act that would work for everyone anyway.
thanks Chrissie!
:)
so i guess i figure we just have to try to kinda be tolerant of the differences and know that it won't always be the way we prefer it and sometimes it will and kinda just go with the flow if we can and all that
Hi welki, Jilly, Chrissie, ruru, flask, kje and hurshy !! .... that is all I see on my screen :-)
still can't find ac7....A's are my LEAST favourites letters!!
I like to pop in and make jokes..but sometimes I'm a filler :D
here flask, let me give it a go..
how about this flask: high card + anagram of foot digits
hi diane
hello dd
hi Diane....
And you're a good cluer too ruru
thanx hurshy
hi, diane
Well, I got it with hurshy's clue
i thought you were about to clue it, jilly? didn't you already have it?
welki.... been fishin' ? or is the ice even off the lake ? LOL ... just kidding of course ;-)
No...I went looking...
<---cluing hall of famer
ohhhhhhh
yep, fished yesterday - first pike of the year :)
<----poor cluer
....cluing, punning, teasing.....
*still thrown by references to real rather than metaphorical fish*
did you turn the fish welki?
turn the fish... into babblers?
a "pine pike" !
turn the fish? nah, i threw the little guy back in
turnpike hurshy.. get with it
ohhh, i am so slow
oh how clever you are ruru
i'm right next to you welki
i should probably actually go fishing sometime. i mean i love to eat fish, i should probably take the responsibility for catching a few of them at some point.
Well, nbt/nbs, all 8/9 done and 99 left... time to get going on the day ♫ 99 bottles of beer on the wall, 9 bottles of beer, ♫ you take one down and pass it around...♫ now that that ditty's going, so am I!
<-- twisted. i see a pike in a little blue hat and uniform taking tolls
bye for now Jilly.... I have to get moving soon as well
ty for ac7 all cluers:)

I play on the ipad and often miss posts cos the chat freezes until I refresh. Does anyone else have this problem?
military term flask
add a p instead of a c and you have a spanish preacher
Not me, Chrissie..do not had an ipad..i sometimes use my parents galaxy tab..which is carp for playing babble.

hi bichon, I should go get some lunch but I am babbling instead :-)
a common tale here
ok, time for lunch, bbl!
if you can re7/32 why can't you de7
and good morning everyone
Hello E1
I keep wanting to spell generate-and I cant get passed the 2nd n--lal
if you could use double N it would word
I done tried that --lol
lol
these babblets and unwords (to our dictionaries) can be frustrating
brb-got to check on a pie in the oven
ooooh, sounds good puglet
Its not quiet done---its a rhubarb with my own grown rhubarb
lovely, hubby won't even grow it, HE doesn't like it
I love pie and making them --but I cant seem to ever get the crust the way I want
do you?
no problem here, how do you make your crust
well I tried new ones each time hoping to find the one! lol--this one 3cflr-1c shorting-1Tvingar-1tsalt-1egg-1/3cwate\nr
so far its seems the best
1/3 c water (is what I meant)
I use a very simple one
3 cups all purpose flour, 1/2 tsp salt, 1 1/4 cups cold shortening, 1/4 cup cold butter, 1 large egg beaten with 1/3 cup ice cold water
sounds very similar to yours
my main problem isnt the mixing but when I roll it out it wants to fall apart before I get it to the pan
thanks--I will try yours
when I was with daughter, I made a crust for her but she wanted me to use lard instead - worked very well - I think there's a recipe on the box of lard
perhaps not sufficient moisture in it puglet, for it to fall apart
just try a little more water to make it hold together
some recipes will advise putting in the frig for a bit - I'm usually in too much of hurry to bother and it is fine
ok I will try it when I bake again--thank you
good luck
THANKS!!
must get going, have to shop, then have yoga class at 2:
bbl
alright Flosey--have fun
hi everyone, back again
can I get a clue for the first de 8/50 please
Hi Annie
hi puglet :)
the only one i have is to hold back
erda is in the grid today
I think that's the last de8 and I have that one but thanks
i keepseeing declare
I've tried that about 5 times
well it is close to the measure de6
going to look
I kept wanting to spell generate and genneral--lol
remove a letter, annie
aiiiiiiiiii, this grid has so many phantoms!
I just dont see it...I have de6 (the measure) but then I draw a blank
oh annie, i am sorry. i do not have the de8, just the measure.
LOL, youre forgiven...but I must say that de 8/50 is driving me nuts
de8...starts with the first three of the last month + a plant that grows every year is a per*****l
finally, thank you, Molly
yes, ty. i am watching jody arias plead for her life. it is odd and fascinating.
You're welcome
I can't watch her anymore...I thought she wanted death.
it seems she had changed her mind
like all her stories..
Im leaving the de's for later
i have not watched the trial. not really interested. just happened on this. procrastinating again.
I didnt watch the trial either, just bits here and there. I couldn't believe she was on the witness stand for 18 days.
really? well, she is going on and on now. it is just so odd. so mundane. one would think pleading for one' slife would have more drama.
she reminds me of that anathony girl
Im going into the livingroom to watch her. see you later.
i guess we watch too much tv. pug, she does resemble her facially
and i am going to buckle down and work. annie, she is done
I need to run too--take care E1-GB
bye pug. wow the press is ripping here apart. interesting, the spin
ty for the de8 Molly, only one more 8 to find
ty for de8 Molls
I only have 3 8's. de8x2 and ni

You know how to celebrate, lol
hehe..wil be back to do this all over again tomorrow..bye til then babblers.
Bye zooz, tc
let's see: NBT, check. NBS, check. halfway through grid, check. halfway through each tile, check. halfway through each stat, check. id call the a productive day! :)
You're so organised Eva ;D
may I have a hint for the Ni8 please?
congrats eva
organized, obsessive... its the same thing, right? heh
N + he d****** a letter for typing
Glass half full person here Eva, definitely organised
thank you!
yw
i'll take it, then, chrissy -- thanks! hehe i rarely get to finish grids anymore, so i like to set myself mini-goals that im more likely to achieve.
Yay, fireworks :)
congrats chrissie
Any clues wanted before I poof?
ty teach
hi everyone, how's the grid today?
Ok, going now. Happy babbling all.
bye chrissie :)
The last re6/21?
hi bea, sorry, missing most re owrds still
to put more pieces of lawn in place...again
TY. I had the re5...
figures, so often you're staring right at it...and though i found the 6, i didn't think to put in the singular ;)
the g words are unusually challenging this grid
i think so too, kje, still missing 5 of them here...
missing 4 here, despite lots of monkey business
i'm missing the 1st, 4th and 5th ge and the 4th gi (gi 6/24) how a bout you?
I haven't listed so not sure
but will now look for that gi6 ; )
the first ge I have is ge + most of not mean
the gi6 I found looks like someone who drinks a juniper tasting liquor?
thanks for that one kje, the gi 6/24 is a combo i think with the gi 7/36, which i failed to list...it follows 3 fairly common babblets
thanks for the gi7
do you have the magical entity that lives in a bottle? and pl... ge5,6 words
yes
I still have 50 words left... I hate to list that early, but this grid is trickier than it appears (or I'm just not in babble mode maybe)
gi 4/7 to encirlce or brace - or most of the "bones of a skyscraper... and pl
yes, have those, ty
don't worry about it, I'll find them when I list
there is another pl for the bottle resident ge 5/14
ah.... ty
okay, it does seem a very tricky one, but i'm still under the weather :(
sorry to hear that
wish I had something to blame - lol
on the mend now, but it's been more than a little drawn out, i'm on my second course of antibiotics now... with the ni5/12 weather, i want to be out not in on a computer...
sit on the porch?
i wish, still tied to the internet cafe here. no internet at home yet.
ugh
hopefully they at least have good coffee
they do, and there is no charge for using the computers, so i make sure to buy a coffee or something every time i come. :)
baked goods?
sometimes, and also cold drinks, choclits etc... it's not their main business, they really fix computers, i phones, ipads etc... this is just a sideline for them... and an occassional source of income for me :))
I give up, listing
50 words left is very good kje, i have 80 to go, and listed ages ago, so i could try to0 finish...
ah, my missing t was that small fish
haha, always the way, eh? we all need fishing rods here, so busy looking for the obscure, that we overlook the obvious ;)
indeed
ah, it is almost closing time here, i will have to bid you all farewlll for the day i think. happy babbling and fishing, see you tomorrow.
hagn
changed my icon to reflect my fish
re7/32 pls
put in a box again
ty kje, love your new icon
ty
Popping for a few more, hello again kje and hello peri and TK!
hola
some twisty fish in here... tricky grid
I know, no words since i logged in...struggling with the ar words...
hi all.would you like a clue for the ar6/7 jill?
ANY ar...can't find the 6,7 or 5...must really be hiding...so YES!! Plz :)
ar6 - penny ar6 is a place with games
hi lill
clue for first re 6/24
ar6/7 is where people play slot machines and pinball etc(not a casino)
ahhhh, now I see it!! ty lillian!
it might be an english word for it jill?
sheesh, really feeling dumb...
re6 - to move back
we use the same word, lill
the other ar5 is a when something is oval shaped
i just saw that kje:) we also say shopping ar6
and shopping mall
Thnak lillian, I have them all....btw, have all the 8/9's if someone needs them
i'm missing an 8. hang on while i look please
we don't use it for shopping malls
ty kje got it
We use the ar6 for the video game places...
that's why i didn't put that as a clue kje but i knew you had places with game machines i just wasn't sure if you called them the same as us
it's ta8 jill and i don't have the 6 before it.in fact i only have 4 ta's so far
i presume it's to do with a pie as i've just found the ones around it
no, but the word before is what we pass when someone asks for a fish... :)
i've found the fish sauce.does it go off that jill?
so clue would be ta*** sauce + most of frozen water
it's a compound, found commonly in grapes
e fish sauce with adjectivel ending
ty jill
and kje and bichon
yw
It's a clue fest!!
i like clue fests :)
evening all, just back form knit and natter
Hello glan!! Not sure what a knit and natter is but hope you had fun!
hi glant.knit and natter? sounds fun apart from teh fact i'm not good at knitting :)
not sure how uch actual knitting gets done :=)
tonight there was much nattering, two cups of tea, and cake
some nights we hold it in the pub and drink cider/wine/beer
i was going to say, i bet it's more nattering :)
I only crochet....and haven't done that for awhile..
one of us only crochets too. she does fantastic free-form crochet
fw
well done kje
Mine would be a VERY free form if it included a beer...
can give clues for a minute or two before leaving if needed
WooT WooT WooT kje...79 left here
my scarves end up with more lost stitches and holes than they are supposed to have.i've even tried all teh new wool out as the thick one and the ones that have 3 or differnet threads so you can put the needle through any of them and i still end up with holes
any of the ae words would help, other wise i have 88 words to find
phantom: create
yay!wtg kje!
LOL Liliann
haven't tackled the ae yet, sorry glan
ae + abbr for US spy agency
all are ae5, btw
ty
ae + start of after dinner sweets
my mam is brilliant at crocheted and she did teach me and i didn't seem so bad at that as it has holes..lol but i forgot how to do it as soon as she went home :)
ae5- the eagle's nest
*thinks US after dinner sweets might be different to UK after dinner sweets*
ty for eagle's nest
ae + start of Lucy's husband
ae + start of arid sand mass?
any of those work?
um
just realised who lucy might be - got it
ty
ok
i loooovvveeeee luuccccy :)
ha!
sorry
7's down....now to start crawling...
crawling?
slow twisty grid....
crawling here means begging
That may hold true on clues...LOL
crossy begs for words from time to time as well:)
unless you mean kerb crawling
crawl away jill :)
aye, that's a totally different type of crawling glant ..lol
last de 5/14 and 6/24
what is kerb crawling?
crossy knows a pub crawl lol
Now I'm really interested in meaning of THAT...
ah, those as well
de5/6 sounds like the cube you throw in games but add a vowel in it
kerb crawling is driving very very slowly looking at the ladies in red light districts
ahh, i miss pub crawls crossy
ahh...we spell it curb here...
pub crawling is going out for an evening and drinking one drink in each of as many pubs as you can manage
hi everyone. tough grid.
Certainly have done a pub crawl or two...
Hi lbd
Hello dawg..yes it is...
we have a famous town here.it is called Timmins.it is a Northern twon about 6 hours drive north of Toronto.it is not famous for it's name,or where it is or for it's majority of french speaking people.it's claim to fame as a small town is that at last count it had over 54 bars or pubs for a population of under 50,000:)
hi lbd :)
hi glan, hi Jilly, hi liliann, stuck with 72 still to find.
must run, hagd all
I know your work schedule probably precludes it, but harp jane and I are working on a babble meetup, breakfast in Bozo, June 1. We probably will head over Friday night.
bye kje,tc
Brecon - where I used to live - used to have 44 pubs for a population of 5,000
tried to pub crawl in timmins once...the police have asked me to never try that again hehe
that's alot of bars/pubs crossy
hi bye, kje
wow
it is down to 18 pubs now
<----thinks Canada sounds better every day!
bye kje, thanks for the help!
gets down to the minus 40s in timmins in winter, jilly
bye kje
18??!! what happened??
i was going to say i'd like to go to timmins but brecon is nearer and more pubs in a smaller area :)
You probably shut down the others crossy ;)
lol
drink drive laws, less money around, fewerfarmers coming into town on livestok market day (livestock market moved out of town cetre)
well, there is only 18 now we are told:(((
really glant, that is so sad
ahh
but 18 pubs for 5000 people is still a high pporportion per head
it would be like timmins having 180
we have 3 sports bars and 2 pubs here in out town of 22,000 and they all teamed up and bought one of those little school buses that hold 15 or so.after midnight the bus just goes from place to place taking people home in town that need it
so many working mens' clubs, pubs have closed down since the no smoking ban and also you can buy cheaper drink in the supermarkets now
fantastic transport plan crossy
The breweries are the thing here...and the tavern association is trying their best to shut them down...I prefer the breweries to a bar
have you guys seen this video of the woman in the tornado and her dog?
worth the watch... http://tinyurl.com/m6yy3vx
it works.people leave the car at home or in the parking lot.can relax and have a extra drink or 2 knowing a free ride home awaits
that sounds cool crossy
i have,kje
i am very glad we have the no smoking thing because pubs are now lovely places to spend time, but since the ban came in the number of adults smoking on wales has only fallen by 1%, which is not waht was predicted
i haven't kje but i will write it down to look at later
so,they are smoking and drinking at home instead
I don't know how he survived in there, it looks totally flattened
near the end of the vid it looks like he has a problem with his back right leg..poor puppy
i think it has fallen more in england glant. my hubby and i gave up before the ban and i know of alot of friends who have given up since but it wasn't so much to do with the ban, just that they were ready to give up
as you all know the mrs and i quit the lung darts in 2002
yes, he is def limping, crossy, but overall, moving amazingly well
which is why supermarkets do cheaper drink crossy and still make a profit as they know people don't want to go outside in all weathers to smoke.
you and your's gave up 2 years before me and hubby crossy
our stores are not allowed to sell alcohol, lillian we have a govenment entity known as the LCBO the liquer control board of ontario. they buy from distilleries and breweries, add theri own taxes and mark up and sell to the consumer
we get buggered when we buy alcohol
I am in tears watching that kje....some reminders that there is always good...
the thing is, they say that you can't smoke in a workplace, but it's not right for lorry drivers who just drive that one lorry all the time and are away from home all the time.the lorry is there home
good to watch kje, didn't even kn ow about the tornado
we have saved so much money quitting the smokes lillian, around $20,000 and counting with our tobacco prices
ciggies are over $10 a pack of 20 here now
yep, I teared up also... she is so stoic at the beginning of the video about losing her dog, just dealing with reality, then gets all emotional when all of a sudden he is found
so, none of your supermarkets sell alcohol crossy?
for one person to smoke here now is about 6000 dollars per year
yup,about the same here,glant
no,they do not,lillian
they are not allowed.they would love to
the only exeption is if a town has a certain population and it is over 50 k from the nearest lcbo outlet
our government is trying to stop out supermarkets from selling alcohol at cheap prices as they say it is getting people to drink more and become binge drinkers and alcoholics
then one store in town can apply for a special permit
30 years ago only pubs and small stores called 'off licences' could sell alcohol but now pretty much every superm arket and sall store can sell it so it is easily available form 6 am Monday morning until midnighgt saturday, and also between 10 and 4 on sundays
uh huh.they want to keep the taxes for themselves
there was once a scheme similar to yours in operation in the UK, back in the 1920s
so where do the lcbo sell the alcohol to consumers then crossy?
for a 26 ounce bottle of hard booze, the govt pays 9 dollars at the distillery when they buy bulk.by the time we buy it and pay all the taxes, that bottle is now 26 dollars.that is why they want to stop store sales in your area
at their own lcbo outlets,lillian
ahh ok
yes, they have it all locked up tight
clue for last ne 9. have the first one
don't have either, matches
the fruit that is not aorange, not a tangerine
have first one now :-)

Toddlers on hormones and overheating....that is my definition of hell
good lord indeed!

10 to go...
wht's worse is that our darling art teacher loves everyeone and can't say no, so we were overcrowded... She sat on the hump next to the busdriver.. we managed not to damage the museum. Do you know how big that place is???
hey gwen :-)

4
depends on who you talk to. Lots of my guys (and gals) liked the samurai armor. Some loved the egyptians, some the degas, some the rodin sculptures. But we didn't have nearly enough time, sad to say. not very well planned
or the Cloisters . . . with Dorens! LOL
fireworks
all of that makes total sense, eh?
we have a pretty spiffy art museum her ein detroit, but to be honest, i don't really understand art as much as music and other things . . .

I agree this grid is not flowing smoothly
missing the firs de 7/36?
it sounds like to make a statement but trade one of the consonants for a vowel
apparently it means 10 square meters
ah.. I know that one
thanks bugs
sure you did... it comes up in conversation all the time
we use meters up here and I still didn't know it ;)
it's wine term
in france
oh. I apologize then. I know nothing about wine and I know you do. I thot you were teasing me again
only because I walked some

<---last lap
ruru,Bill Cosby says that when this happens to back into the room you were in when you had the idea originally and to sit down and it will instantly come to you what you needed, barring that you can take your hand and bressh firmly on one butt cheek
press
such a drag getting older sometime
sometimes
my da says as long as you do not wake up in the morning to find the milk out on the porch abd the dog in the fridge, the keys to the car in the sugar dish and the car itself parked on the bottom of the pool, then you are doing ok
that's funny
it is for us,not for my da lol
or you wake up in a bed,in a house in a town that is not your bed, house or town and have no idea where you are at all
then some person walks into the bedroom who has no idea who you are lol
there is much to be said for wearing id tags on your neck once you get past 40 or so
problem is i am 50 now and have frigging clue where i put my tags
I tried to open up someone else's car the other day..looked a lot like mine. I'm really an idiot some days
i have done the same thing
or this.you throw you item in the cart and once you are three asiles over you discover you have stolen someone else cart
and now you have no idea what the person looks like!
fireworks unaided
and finally to avoid embarrasment you just buy all the crap they had in their cart and pray it is stuff you like lol
yaaa for gremlinn!
i still have a can of creamed eels in the cupboard somewhere because of a foul up like that hehe
I have once tried to open up a car the same color/make as mine (almost the same model, it was a close enough variation)
Now I know to watch out for it in that parking lot!
I wasn't paying attention and was distracted.
Thank god no one was in the car
(1) Stick key in keyhole; (2) Person inside panics, starts engine, and floors it before you can react; (3) Your key goes for a long ride
lol.. almost
Yeah, I'm old fashioned. I don't have a newfangled door unlocking device.
*looked around to see if anyone was watching how stupid I am*
lol.we are not that on guard here.we would just watch the show and wave then roll down the window and ask the person if they are lost
how old are you gremlinn?
37
oh..
ways to go then.. before it really becomes an issue :D
i have a led zepplin concert t-shirt that is 37 hehe
Yeah, was just kidding - I still thinking of myself as a kid!
actually it is 35.i saw them in 79
they were not among my favorite musicians
or something like that.cannot add anymore either
*sees if crossy took his shoes off to count*
would do not good as i have 6 toes on one foot and 4 on the other
:)
reminds me of a cute joke
gremlinn - one of our friends from the pub once did that and succeeded in the car park of the pub we were both in back in the 70s. We came out and thought our car had been stolen because it was gone. 20 minutes later it was back but with a pair of leather gloves on the passenger seat. We were very puzzled. So was the bus driver who had mistakenly got into and driven our car 2 minutes down the road to his bus depot to go on shift and then asked the driver he was relieving to drive his car back to the pub car park so he could get it after shift. He also thought that he might be a bit fuddled, since he saw a cassette player in the car and knew he didn't have one. he knew he'd left his gloves on the passenger seat of the car... but when he came back to it (his own car by this time) there were no gloves and definitely not a cassette player in sight. It was about 3 days later when we all met up again - us thinking, Odd! Why would a car thief take our car and then bring it back and leave us a pair of leather gloves?' and him thinking he was going bonkers. Once the pub owner put the two stories together and then put us back together we realised what had happened. You couldn't make it up, could you? lol
lol, jacula!! have to put a big decal on the hood of just one for future reference
bonnet*
Wow, very weird!
good thing you didn't stop and have sex in the car Jac :D
s'okay, Crossie - I know hood means bonnet. lol
ruru - in that carpark, then? You must be joking! lol
hey.. when nature calls...
Nature's booty call?
wooooooooffff
*picks up passed out lurkers *

Hi TO.
that'd be a lexically close word, changing the fourth letter, ruru
se7 means "forming a series" - never seen it in print before
by-passing those with raging hormonal calls, does anyone need any more clues for grid words? *coughs in a lady-like manner.*

Hello to my fellow babblers! How is everybody doing today
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! Way to go!

Hi Min. Just avoiding untrained violinist.

hi all
HEY!>>> I'm innocent here
Hello jmcnrick! How are you doing today? Welcome to grid
hi jm
*skeptical look at ru*
clue for the first de 7/36 please?
1/10 prefix plus the shortened form of an area unit (used for land measurements)
penquis - it's a unit of surface measurement. dec + personal pronoun + we *r* all Babblers here.
Oh, not the shortened form... it's actually about 2.5% of that other area unit (also in grid)
oh....still working on it...
one de7 works out to about 2.5 times the floor space of a king-size bed
Try de6/24 with a personal pronoun in the middle of it.
could someone give me the stats for the right hand E please
thanks....the definitions are nice, but i don't know those words.....jacula....getting stumped on the personal pronoun part....this is english?
de6/24 - if you haven't got it yet, is also a surface measurement but can be explained as 'to take nurturing away from' sto stop ca4/5ing for.
A pronoun designating the person speaking the person spoken to or the person or thing spoken about.
I, you, she, he or it normally, penquis.
ty, jm...i do know what a pronoun is...
but not what a personal pronoun is, it seems.
thanks, jacula...finally got it
Glad you got it, penquis.
Fortunately, there are no gerunds in this grid and so I can go off to bed again now.
"Achooing!" "Gerundheit!"
that was a definition for a personal pronoun. Sorry if I seemed patronizing. I understood you to ask for that information.
That sounded nasty and it wasn't meant to. I'm tired, need my bed again for a while.
good night jac
'Night, jmc.
nbt finally. . .
i think i will wander off. . . see you all tomorrow. . .

{{stiddy}}
((stid)) - how are you doing? saw your mom on earlier
thanks, rose...bye
doing "okay" right now, nan -- there is a lot to do, and I was pretty ineffective for about 8 weeks, but back on track now.
how are you?
has reconstruction begun yet?
hey, i bet you will never guess what i did this morning.
good, thanks, stid. Heading down to Vancouver in a couple of weeks for our granddaughter's 3rd birthday
what, granny?
i'm sure you were stiddy. but being the gutsy lady you are, i know you will get through this.
has it been three years already? how the time flies!
I bet you ran a mini-marathon, granny!
was going into work, to the change-room. some idiot had mopped the floor and not left out a wet floor sign.
yes - I had forgotten that she was born a just a few days after we met you.
tear-down hasn't happend yet, nan --- the contractor needed data from us (my 8 weeks of ineffectiveness at play) that I didn't know... and the bank needs a firm quote from the contractor before finalizing, and the contractor needs finalizing from the bank to start work. *sigh*
oh no grannyrose! **gentle protective hugs**
my RIGHT foot skidded backwards, i went down on the kinee, hard, and then skewed the knew sideways.
sounds like catch 22!
ouch -- hope you are wearing a brace on it for awhile
oh gee. workman's comp? how bad is it sprung? oh no ...
oh lord, i'm still under the influence of the narcotic they gave me in emergency.
fortunately only soft tissue injury, not dislocated and patella intact
get some good books, sit with the leg elevated and alternate ice and heat 3x for 10 min ea. every 2 hours -- great excuse for idleness!
this is what you didn't need, though. oh dear... *fluffs pillows and brings hot cocoa*
do you want to borrow my ipad?
nan, in a zimmer splint for 3 days, and not allowed to fully weight bear for a week
I can ship it extra-fast express...
zimmer splint? I thought zimmers were raincoats? *confused mama look*
stiddy, it's a splint which locks my knee straight. not sure where the name came from, guess it's the sadistic person who thought it up. can only take it off for physio and showering
but right now i don't want to bend it. i think i'm gonna have a whopper of a bruise, considering i am on anticoagulants.
oh, at least it comes off, I guess!
yuck
there. NBT and down to 90. not bad for starting late I guess
awww, gee, stiddy. i think it's so unfair that when we are in the middle of such a stressful situation, everyone seems to drag it out
whoa, stiddy, you're on fire
LOL grannyrose
I saw some really helpful hints when I came in
=0
hope things speed up on the house soon, stid. Do you have floor plans for the new one?
hi tor
hey tor!
hello tor, how are you doing tonight?
Heyas kids ..
I'm in pretty good shape, considering the shape I'm in ..

{{hurshy}}
Heya ms. hurshy
Hi people.

y hurshy
on my way - early morning for an early tee time, so I'm ready to crash. See you tomorrow :)
{{{neil}}}} at last we have contact
Hey stid.
night, nan, sleep well, hun
nan, I took the floorplans to the contractor today, but he is out of town until next Tuesday. When he sees the changes I want, he can give us a quote... and then we can discuss "next steps."
Yes. Nice to see you Rose. :)
sweet dreams nan! have a wonderful day tomorrow!
I sent you another message... check gmail?
okay, going in now
According to this grid, you can't darn something more than once.
Oh man... sorry! Into the PB with me. :P
down to 86 and really tired. Hope you-all will have a great rest of your week.
*poof*
Take care stid.
