awww, have i missed sprite and glant?
good morning/evening all
How are you feeling Rose?--sorry about the other day, I lost my signal on the comput
hello?
Howdy Ruby--how are you?
What a bad day for a tiny grid! It is raining and cold and husband is so angry with me (over something HE did), that he won't go to lunch with me. That is my punishment
Today would have been a good day for a 400=word grid!
ahhh Ruby so sorry your world is so dreery today
husband is getting worse and worse. He gets up at 4 and then sleeps at all the wrong times
Its cold here too but no rain until tonight for us
we're in a full moon period, so the nights are bright with moon shadows in the garden, but then the rain starts, come morning
Maybe a nice quiet lunch would be nice for you
{{little pug}} -- I put that in my entered words box duh
I'll go to the local Italian resto alone, but it's a shame that he is like that
yeah I know all about hubby's that are on the crude side
My guy is really bad about taking responsibility for his own actions!
in this case, it was the usual thing where he loads the fireplace wrong so that when I go to add another log, burning chunks of wood fall out. So he says it's my fault, that I waas messing with his fire
if he was younger, I'm sure he'd leave, but at this point, where in the world would he go? He's almost 88
is he bitter with the world? Or bitter about getting old?
both. And is losing, very rapidly, his short-term memory. Spends his time rummaging around in the past, trying to re-make his memories of his awful parents
and I'm sure that I'm less sympathetic than I should be, but I am stuck with all the responsibilities
I didnt know there were a his and hers fire--lol--That maybe is out of place--just trying to lighten up your thoughts
too funny! except one of these days, he'll burn the house down
Yeah I know that feeling all too well! You just got to find ways to keep your own sanity through all this
at his age I dont think you are going to change too much about him---Are you alot younger then him Ruby
you help a lot, pug, with your sympathetic, non-judgmental ear. Pls forgive me for whining
18 years
it didn't seem like much when he was 60!
no need to feel bad Ruby we all need a ear once in awhile--Wish I was close enough to give ya a hug or better yet go out to eat with you
My hubby is about ten years older than I
that would be fun! The resto isn't great, but it's very close, 3 mins by car. I'd walk, but it's pouring
and they have two dogs, one, a Malinois, is y boyfriend. The other is a Coton de Tuléar (sp?)
He's like a German shephere only prettier and very well-trained. He and I are in love.
I rather like walking in the rain---and I like the rain as well--Its like it washes all your worries away--You know Ruby nothing can grrow with out water(not even us)
and the people are really nice, almost like family
I like the rain, too, but not when it's 40F
well thats nice Ruby you got a place to go to like that.Maybe someone will be there to loft up your spirits----I love dogs too-couldnt ever see myself with out one by my side
It's really nice that restos in France allow dogs
does it always rain so much there
We got nothing like that here around me. I live in the country--going to the bigger cities I feel like a fish out of water
Even though I grew up in NY and lived in Miami before coming here, I can't stand big cities any more. I feel nervous all the time and scared to go in the subways
we had two years of draught so this extra rain we have been getting is a blessing to our land and wells
This is the first year, our 16th!, without a nice Spring. Usually, we have 5 months of perfect, warm weather. This year it has passed us by
I know that fear too--just so much going on with people killing and such its hard to feel safe
How did you end up there?
exactly. At keast, living in the country, there's none of that to worry about. Our village has fewer than 12,000 people and the biggest town around here has fewer than 100,000
It is a really lovely part of France and, at the time we retired, it was affordable. We are between the foothills of the Alps and Lake Annecy, all visible from the house
if you have GoogleEarth, look up Veyrier du Lac and Annecy
Several years ago I had a very good girlfriend that lived in Indianapolis and I use to go there alot on my own to visit with her but I dont feel comfy doing that anymore at all
ohhh that sounds beautiful!
I can understand that
youre so lucky to have gotten to travel like that!
that's true and if husband would only stay cam and without the fits of temper, life would be good
she married and her hubby was jelous of our freindship so we have drifted apart due to that
growing old is not fun but it's a lot better than the alternative, and i've lost many friends and cousins much too early
that happens a lot. My first husband waas like that, he couldn't stand my having my own friends
could you slip him something to get you that effect? lol
His doctor prescribed Xanax for him, but I can't figure out a way to administer it lol
no getting old isnt but what can we do about it?
too bad hes not one of your pets and just poke it down
wrp it in cream cheese and throw it upp in the air
(((laughing)))
how long have you lived there Ruby--Have you got family there too
I love when vets say "NP giving this to your dog. He'll like the tast." I used to have a chow, Rosie, who would take the pill and 10 minutes later you would hear it drop to the floor in nother room
It will be 16 years in November and no, no famiy here. My son lives in Texas. I have nephews in London, but can't even go there
When I had horses, I had a mule I rode named Joe and he hated getting his shots and he would stiffen up his hide so that the neddle would bend ! He was the worse animal I had to give meds too--lol
ruby and puglet??? you both still here? xoxoxox
yeah Rose--Ruby is down --she needs hugs
How are you feeling Rose after your fall
when we had out little black chow Cleo, there were two donkeys (are they the same as ules? duh me)| and a horse, who lived nearby. And she would visit them every day with lots of nuzzles exchanged
aww, ruby...{{{hugs and kisses}}}} my dearest friend
{{rose}} my naming Rosie must have evoiked your presence. I've been whing to puglet
puglet, much better. am going back to seated duties only next monday, for a week.
they are about the same--Mules are bigger mostly
ruby, my darling, you don't whinge, never have, never will.
which ones are sterile? Please pardon my ignorance' you can take the city out of a girl, but it's hard to insert the country!
No I dont take it as whiney either!
Mules--they are the product of crossing a jack(donkey) with a horse and the offsprings are sterile
OK, so these were donkeys, and when a baby was born, the farmer-boy brought the baby over in his arms for us to see, shortly after the birth
are you up to that Rose? And did you really rest?
Rose is my heroinem puglet, she is Wonder Woman personified!
ahh--in a few towns away is some people that raises the mini donkeys and horses and they are so sweet
We could all use a bit of Rose's strength--huh?
happily for Rose, she has a wonderful husband!
awww, ruby.*hangs head in embarrassment* i only do what i can do, hun.
but it's MUCH more than most of us.
now cut it out, you two!!! enough already!!!
and now I'm off to my solitary lunch; I won't give husband the satisfaction of my not going. And I'll have an extra grappa just to spite him!
Yesterday I went to my great nephews last school day program(hes 7 and like my grandson--have been apart of his life since he was in the womb) Then he came home with me for a few days.
Yesterday I went to my great nephews last school day program(hes 7 and like my grandson--have been apart of his life since he was in the womb) Then he came home with me for a few days.
and you are right about the hubby. you should have seen him stand up to my director of clinical services. she backed down very quickly.
"""SOME"""people just has it all!!lol
If I'm not being indiscrete, little pug, from your posts, I thought you were just a kid!
have two, dear ruby...one for me as well. *giggle*
you betcha, Rose!
I wish! Ruby! I was born in 58 and at times I feel MUCH older
my docs had the audacity to say my footwear led to my fall.
<00 born in'43 and feel much younger!
well what did you have on Rose? roller skates!
lol, puglet, ruby and i can give you a couple of years each and still be older....
and now -- *woof*
lol, puglet, not quite!!! she completely glossed over the fact that the plastic film was WET!!!!
Bye Ruby hope you are feeling better now
and hubby, who was with me at the time. pointed out that the plastic film was slippery even when DRY!!!!
Anything to get out of take respons.
bye, ruby, see you tomorrow, my dear
that is one of my biggest erks in life--People wont take responsibility of their own actions!!
hubby is an occupational health and safety representative. she picked the wrong person to pick on.
Good for you Rose---they dont want to pay their part it sounds like
need to get coffee and take private brk for a sec--brb
am lodging a formal claim on monday. my total knee replacement was workcover claimable. i didn't lodge a claim then. this time, i thought...what the heck...am sick of taking time off and the company NOT acknowledging my contribution to the company.
np's puglet. see you soon.
Im back--Yes take care of yourself! Fix it before you retire--
Its sad to say but everything is always about money--not doing what is right

They are telling on the news that the youth has came up with a new way to get high---smoking alcohol!
what!!!!
Yep--dont know how they are doing it. But it is dangerous to the lungs
something about mixing alcohol and dry ice and smoking it
anything, apart from the air we breathe, is dangerous to our lungs.
I dont understand this always needing to get high thing
that is, the air which Our Father created.
riding a rollercoaster is high enough for me--lol
can't even do that, puglet. the highest high i get is kissing my darling. ;-)

good morning on this dreary rainy Saturday, bichon
and it's not supposed to get out of the 40's!
What a Memorial Day weekend, not!
I dont think Coney Island is going to get anything going today, financially speaking...tomorrow is supposed to be better
Aren't you leaving in a few days for your trip?
Ah, Coney Island, Nathans. What memories for me
Yes, we leave Wed. night.
Nathan's opening today. Have a great trip and take lots of pictures.
Taking two cameras
Nathan's has been closed since Sandy hit. They rebuilt and today is the official opening day
going to make breakfast, bye
hello {{bichon}} and {{annie, if she's still here}}
aaaah, Nathan's!
in the summer, when we still had the candy store, at 10m when we'd close, we'd drive all the way to Coney Island for friend shrimp t Nathan's
sorry.leaned on keyboard
{{bichon}} in case you didn't see it
Good Morning Babblers
good morning Christa
Is that the same Nathan's that puts out hotdogs?
I'm sure it is, Christa. The Nathan's you buy in the store started on Coney Island.
Love the snap when you bite into one.
They are the only hot dogs I buy because their ingredients and they are kosher.
I really do like & use Lickety's Babbler Clues. Sure does help me with small grids like today's.
3 left and I haven't used any clues. unusual for me. I usually use lickety's.
tadone, finite. glad it was a small easy grid today, much to do. hagd/e everyone.
and the best Nathan's are the ones marked "Natural Casing" - but they are hard to find - not all supermarkets carry them - those are the ones with the snap - like the dogs at Papaya King in NYC
fw.

i'll sic father time after her.... and pee in her corn flakes ;)
ewwwwwwwwwwwww
thought you might still be lurking ruru, how are you doing? ;)
sounds like breakfast at Sammay Hagar's
i'm fine Kate.. thanks
trying to picture what mr. hagar eats for breakfast - since that's probably just about when he's going to bed...
I'm sure he drinks his own tequila.
and fireworks
still not awake here, gonna make some java brb
I would imagine drugs and tequilla and he'd pee in his own corn flakes..ewwwwwwwwww
*makes note never to eat cornflakes again*
lol
howdy ruru, came out of stelth mode whist i was hunting down a tea eh?
I always pictured you as a Fruit Loops kinda gal..
the pee in the corn flakes thing brought me out.
Ha. Didn't like Fruit Loops. Not that mom would have ever bought them. Life, Kix or Cheerios was our usual cereals. Borrrrring.
nevermind that.you know you have arrived when the breakfast menu is jack daniels and corn flakes
Although, I could usually count on Chocolate Pebbles at gram's house. :-))
I think that's breakfast du jour at JMC's house
we had cheerios and rice krispies.. my fave was sugar smacks
the secret is to add some brown sugar
isn't there enough brown sugar in Jack?
Rarely were we allowed anything with sugar in it. Apple Jacks did show up eventually though.
well,if you add brown sugar ,after you have finished a bowl or 3,you will still be nice and alert to go on a tear
I don't really eat cereal now. Just oatmeal. I love Golden Grahams, but... to fattening.
our childhood cerial was corn flakes, rice krispies and that gawd awful rice puff stuff that came in the big bag
that's because your mom thought you were sweet enough Judi >>> :D
we had lots of sugar around our house.. my mom had a big time sweet tooth
i think it was a conspiracy by the parents because if you have a bowl full of those puff rice things, you can only get a ounce or two of milk in the bowl before the things are falling all over the table
we had a lot of shredded wheat, rasin bran, and muffets... and in the cooler weather red river, oatmeal (gruel) and cream of wheat....my grandpa used to buy me captain crunch, which i loved :)
Pffth. We were victims of health kick parents. Eat healthy or we'll kick your butts.
and who had the two tb of cod liver oil from the big brown bottle every morning?? crossy did:(((
so, you were 18 before you went to mickey d's judy?
my mom kept hoping I'd run away
used to burp fish till 2 pm
Uhg! We were spared the fish oil. Chewable vitamins.
lol, poor ruru... didn't she want to share her sweets with yu? i got the cod liver oil too crossy :(((
Trips to Mc'Ds were rare. Usually gram took us. Gram was the great corrupter.
<---spared the cod liver oil treatment
as is her prerogative, judy ;)
we never did the golden arches
wax paper or aluminum foil for the sammiches.never saw a zip lock baggie till i had my own place and heaven help you if you did not save the foil!
okay, prepared to beg for my last 3 words.... ey 5/14 anyone? PLEASE!!!

Oh dear. Hubby's in the bathroom swearing at the plumbing he's trying to replace.

sorry . I am no longer typing genuine words. I need the last word to finish and I keep going away and coming back to the screen hoping to see it magically staring out at me. I was hoping the monkeys were on the ball. Not so!
Not sure if you are still here, Patxxx..if so would you like any clues?
Ok i see you are not here...*poof*
Thanks for asking zoomzoom. I do need a clue if you are about. Ro5/10. I went off to look at the sun, not seen too often lately but lovely today.
Just like the ro6, without the last letter.
ro6...the fruit was not fresh. It had been sitting around a long time and it was ro6.

Thanks MollyL, about an hour later. FIREWORKS!!! I must have tried the right ro5/10 at least a couple of times as it is so obvious. Went into the garden pulling weeds but now I can't find the cats and I want to go to bed early, which is one advantage of a short grid! Goodnight allzzzzzz
no power for 5 hours, arrggghhhh
but I did manage to finish babble early this am. just stopped in to say hi. happy to be online again.
happy birthday suze!!
hi peri, crossy, patxxx!
hi all! sweet... a small puzzle.
Hello my Saturday Babbling friends. Just starting but congrats to Patxxx and all.
howdy stid.
Hi jmb! Cloudy and drizzly in the great northwest.
coming out of our winter reminder here in Michigan.
90's... 30's... 60's again finally
hi jmb and gmere!
We had spring at the beginning of May but now it is back to long-sleeves and sweaters in the house.
cloudy and drozzly here today too
*drizzly
drozzly works, too uu. It has rounder drops than drizzle.
:-)
my daughter lives an hour north of seattle. I visited her last summer during the 20 something days of beauty (no rain) but says this year appears more natural for the area
I am seriously thinking of a road trip to California. That is how desperate I am for sunny days.
I love road trips... go for it. I am driving with a friend and her two kids ... MI to Texas for the 4th of July
afternoon all...I need a clue for the me 6 please
someone who is like an advisor, buttonman - I was a me6 to a junior faculty member when I was a full professor
don't have it yet
ty sue
and hello all!
You're going to see lovely country. It's a treat to beat your feet on the Mississippi mud and so on.
yw - for some reason that word was hard for me to see

our birthday girl:))
:-D
suze has a birthday!? hooray!
getting old...
oh, happy birthday!
thanks, all! We are having a very quiet and lazy day, and will go out to dinner later.
uh oh. speaking of lazy day... hardware store closes in half an hour... I need to go out. in this nasty cold wet weather, I really don't want to!. but c'est la vie. happy babbing (such as it is)
see you later, dorens!
suze, you like all things celestial wise.came across some interesting information on a russian space exploration program carried out from the mid 60,s to the mid 70,s called the "venera" programme.seems they were the only ones to land probes on venus and after many failures managed with one probe to operate it for 56 minutes and capture the only pics ever taken of the venutian landscape.seems it is 350f to 450 f there and the amosphere and pressure is like being 5000 feet below sea level.i found it all quite facinating and was a very good read
actually it is closer to 1000F, crossy (700C) - Venus is hotter than Mercury! The atmospheric pressure is 90x what it is on Earth, and there are clouds of sulfuric acid. I've seen the pictures taken by the Venera landers - very interesting although I certainly do not want to go there! (I would, however, love to go to Mars)
etna
sorry,
poor gusy, seems they spent all that money and 99% of the time the lens caps would not come off the units for recording
you can spell that backwards and get another grid word, buttonman :-)
Venus is a terrible environment to try to work in - it is amazing that they were able to get the thing to work at all!
it was indeed! seem the units # 9 and upwards including #10 which lasted the 56 minutes were incredibly overbuilt just to last this long
i was just randomly roaming through wikpedia and came across the venera programme and one thing lead to another and before you know it ,i had been reading up on it all for an hour lol
<---- geeky crossy
<--- also geeky :-)
and here
i feel like i am in good company
well,as in most games of this sort i would imagine 99.9% of us are bibliophiles anyways
indeed!
my beloved is on her second read, the first was worn to a frazze and my current one has about a year left in it(both are early models with page advance buttons and mine has limited touch screen funtion
goodness this grid is fast today
e-reader*
probably good since i have to break down a chicken in 2o minutes
lol, pippin.i just broke down a bird for us tonight as well
i just got an e-reader last year and i love it so much
ok, I am off, nice to see everyone! see you tomorrow!
i would be lost without my nook e reader, pippin.it now has 400 books,200 songs and a few hundred pictures on it(first gen nooks can do this!)
tc ,suze
bye sue, have a great day
i do not think any of the new ebook readers have built in mp3 players as it was just an experiment at the time it was released
i've mainly been getting library books on the kindle, but not having to go to the library to get them makes a world of difference
my nook is open format so i can get tons off books of the net
the kindle is getting better as newer versions come out but i was severly put off on earlier models that had you stuck with kindle proprietary format and nothing else
anyone cluing the ey 5 word? I have tried every monkey I know.
in the early going they did not even do epub files
eagle nest
eagles nest gmere
snap
guess I didn't try that monkey, too high to climb even for nimble little guys, ty pippin.
crossy goes and crawls into a corner...
cmere crossy, have a treat
woof1 arrooo!
i'll show you the burn on my thigh if you come out
how did you burn your thigh??
(sorry, my coworker seems to like that, other people are freaked out)
hello everyone....can i get clues for the two ti words please?
my last two words and they are just not materializing
sadly, i was microwaving some lunch that had inadvertently been frozen, and managed to spill it in my lap. 2nd degree burn here i come
i can't find those either penquis
I don't have those ti 6 words, penquis.
ouch!!
ouch!!
ti -- udder male(s)
one ti 6 is a fella who like mammaries
thanks anyway!
yeah, it's been almost 2 weeks and i still have a scab about the size of my thumbprint
but much much better, i think the scab will be gone in another week
and the other is two fellas who like mammaries...done!...thanks, crossie
:))
oh, those are terrible words!
now i just need the ti5 and it's back to chickens
who would have thought those compound words would be the ti 6 that we needed. Down the my last word, the me 6.
it is udderly shameful
well.....want a clue for that ti 5 word?
gmere, a senior employee who advises a newbie in the office
want a clue for that me?
oops nm
oh crossy, i take back my treat
Crossy, we are going to have to fry up some bacon for you and yes, I would love a clue for the me 6.
my treat!!!:((
pippin clued it
also gmere, it starts how the 2nd ti6 ends
ty pippin. Fireworks.
thanks, those were my last 3 too. FW :)
blah, ended with the ti5, and i hate that my computer just has that word out now!
yaa for stidmere!!
and i'm the least prudish person i know, but yuk
So, a lovely afternoon's conversational Babble is now ready to put into the hangar. Good night all.
night gmere
cross if you are still on what do you mean your nook has open format do you get books free
Open format = you can get books from a variety of sources. Proprietary format = you can only get books from one source...such as Kindle with Amazon.
Hello, all...back to torture myself more with this grid. {{soeed}}
Sorry, meant {{speed}}
how do I know if I have open format I am so dumb when it comes to anything electronic or computerized
I have no clue Speed. I have a Kindle but rarely use it.
ok I will go back and read my directions I like my nook to read at night in bed because I can have all the lights off and be very comfortable reading
Book lovers never go to bed alone. : D
How right you are, Molly!
I am such a relic...still read actual books!
speedfreak it means i can use, pdf, epub,it,mobi files and load them from anywhere in the net or from any library
lit*
Crossy, you are a true Renaissance man!
so,you juct use a prgram called calibre to change the format into a file type you prefer for your reader
ty,mimi
ebook readers saved my wife.with her degenerative eye disease, her regular books had been gather dust for ten years.i was never happier than when technology advanced enough to give her tools to read again
ok cross that sounds like foreign language too me with mobi,it,epub......
so,i made it my mission to learn everything i could about them
What a blessing, crossy. You are such a good husband and good man.
my mother is finally listening to her books on tape when her eyes went she was lost not reading but it took awhile for her to accept the tape machine now she loves it
99% of librarys use epub files.that is the main thing to remember, speedfreak and epubs use 50% less space than pdf files although pdf files are superior for text books and illitrated articles
Audio books are indeed a blessing for the visually impaired or those who have lost their sight.
my better halfs sight tsits at 20/400 and it is holding and for that we are greatful
sits
My best friend of 44 years has a mother who has retinitis pigmentosa and is suffering...cannot even see what is on TV most of the time even though she has a magnifier. She is 84. Such a hardship. My friend even has to change channels for her to listen to TV since she can't see well enough to change channels on the remote. Time to be grateful for what we have, right? I see you are doing that, crossy. You are lucky to have each other. I will be alone the rest of my life....my choice, I guess.
we had to give away all her printed books, sadly but with her reader she is happy again
you are never alone .we are here, mimi:))
I so much appreciate that, crossy, dear. This community is such a blessing.
Will be looking at your cabin picture often in the summer and pretending it is winter and cold!
my mom is 86 and can just make out some figures on tv still but sitting right up to it we also got her a large screen but even that is getting to be a struggle she still lives alone and my brother and sisters all do what we can but am so scared she may not be able to stay in her house of 70 yrs and she said then she wants to just die
Oh, dear, speed. I understand her pain even though I don't experience it directly. I am very independent and the worst thing for me would be to need to live assisted. My children would just put me in a home and forget me....frightening. Would end it before that ever happened. But I have at least 20 more productive years and am working toward my degree as a therapist to help people with the time I have left....hey, we should help each other, right?
lol,glad you like it ,mimi
Such a beautiful place, crossy. So happy you have that.
we are so lucky to have each other thank you
It is so mutual, dear speed.
speedfreak, she has had her eyes check, checked for cataracts, the possibilty of artificial lenses? that is what my beloved had done as well as laser surgery to enable her to stay at 20/400
Sometimes we get what we deserve in this life...but often we don't. The trick is trying to not be bitter and move on with love.
I have been very fortunate in many ways in this life so I try to concentrate on that and be grateful rather than lament what I cannot change.
I am also very lucky to have an awesome brother and super sisters since we all work together to do all we can for our mom I hear such horror stories of family and it is so sad
In the background right now I have a special dedicated to Leonard Cohen's works...beautiful beyond belief.
this is very good advice
crossy love Leonard Cohen
When I was still singing professionally, crossy, I sang "Suzanne" and did it mostly a capella.....so touching.
Of course, no one could top Judy Collins in that rendition.
I love listening to Judy Collins
I used to sing much Judy as well as Linda Ronstadt...still hoping to get back to it someday. Until 3 yrs. ago was still singing with a classic rock band....hey, why not?!! The heart attack slowed me down but hasn't stopped me!
Do you have Netflix, speed? They have great concerts you can stream....have one of Judy and also Joni Mitchell and Joan Baez...also, Earth, Wind and Fire, Moody Blues...the list goes on and on.
love moody blues.never hear much from them anymore but i always used to keep a cassette tape or 2 of them back in the day
OMG, crossy, Knights in White Satin still sends shivers down my spine!
in your wildest dream was the one the stations picked up but they had so many other interesting tunes
They have an entire concert on Netlix---$8 a month and a bargain.
i am getting nexflix asap
i tossed the cable tc two months ago.was tired of the crap being offered for my 90 bux a month!
tv
I have SOOO many recommendations, crossy. Happy to share. Movies, TV series and LOTS of concerts. Hey, they should hire me as a PR person!
do not worry, once i get it running it will pick your brain
i
I got rid of cable, too, crossy. I now have Roku box that lets you stream Netflix to your TV...even has remote. Fabulous.
And no commercials!
that is the way i will be going as well
I have the entire Highlander series, The West Wing, CSI Miani....the list goes on and on. There are a couple of New Zealand series that are FABULOUS and the British ones as well.....will compile a list for you, crossy! Roku is a one-time charge of $60 and Netflix is $8 a month....cannot get a better deal.
never heard of the roku box
Hi
howdy,herin
It is the size of a hockey puck and just amazing. They even gave us the upgrade to the new one for free. You can use it with many sites besides Netflix....Amazon.com, Hulu Plus....just cannot say enough about it. Have had it a year already and happy, happy.
How goes it
Hi, lady!
will have to look into that Hi herinfernallady
Speed - http://www.roku.com/
thanks
Everything Netflix streams (TV shows, movies, concerts, etc.) is just $8 a month and with Roku you have it via Wi Fi on your TV.
here is a review for it.. http://reviews.cnet.com/roku-3/
I wish we had it here.
So incredibly easy to set up...they send it to you and you only have to plug into outlet and your TV. Hey, if I can do it easily, anyone can!
We don't nor can't afford cable.
Poor lady....
Not really MImi. We have a terrabyte drive that is by the tv loaded with tv and movies.
Good....want you to be happy!
nope.i am not missing cable at all .so much to stream from the net and once my netflix is online,i will be a happy crossy
Netlix is expanding worldwide, so will be available soon in many places. Called for rubyfoo awhile back.
Thanks Mimi. We have a lot of great free to air stuff but a serious lack of current up to date stuff.
Yes, crossy, you will be. The Roku just makes it available on your TV instead of the small computer screen. Has a remote, too.
ok not to sound stupid I am on the site now but want to know can you still watch your local stations with it also
You cannot get real-time programming, speed. You must go to the network sites for that (e.g., ABC.com, etc.). But entire seasons of good shows are available and they are adding more all the time.
I have all 7 seasons of West Wing and so many others that I can watch at will without commercials.
ok because I still like to catch the local news so can I still pick up ABC, NBC for that
Speed I wonder if it is like the internet straight to your tv
So you have the streamer and then your antenna
You can access documentaries, concerts, movies, TV shows (including classics). So well worth it.
might be nice when I get my own place for my tv and just keep a small one for local stuff
No, you only have access to the shows Netflix and others have purchased the rights to. Must use direct websites for local news. I can stream my local news on internet live.
i do that now.i just stream my local statio as needed
like I said the first thing I should do when I am on my own is take a computer course at the local high school I do not know much about them
The great thing is that you can do marathons of shows back-to-back. Have done so with West Wing and CSI Miami and Highlander...etc.
I wish we had Netflix
Speed, I have never taken a computer course in my life...just learned by doing. I am here to help you and hope you will be on your own soon.......
Hey, lady, you have bubble and squeak! So do I...local fish and chips place....love it.
I will send you an email this week and let you know how its going thank you for being a friend
Speed do a basics one it is a good idea. I did a basics MIcrosoft course and it was good
when i first bought a computer,i picked up a virus and new nothing about computers at all.a computer repair shop saw me coming and ripped me off for 200 dollars.i vowed then and there to learn what i could about computers and got myself a 2 year subscription to maximum pc magazine and kept reading them till everything cliccked.i have never been back to a repair shop since and have built 2 computers myself
that was 15 years ago
I have to get a menu sorted for work
You are a truly magnificent man, crossy....I mean it!
wow crossy you are a go getter guess that is my problem 55 I feel like I am too old to start over with learning anything even though I work in a school!!!!
Speed, totally my pleasure.
gonna make crossy blush:)
i am 50 speedfreak.never too old
Go ahead and blush, crossy!
and many of the babble ladies here can make a computer just dance to their tune as well
Speed, I came to computers in my 50's. It is never too late. I am here for you any time.
Crossy, you silver-tongued devil, you!
:)
<----gives innocent look
You are innocent, crossy---rare entity...love your wife completely.
crossy good thing you are married or you would have a lot of women banging down your door!!!!
OK---the Leonard Cohen tribute just did Suzanne...I am crying.
Amen, speed!!!
of course i love her,we have been through hell and back together,do not need the young hotties, they just do not have the experience:))
big hugs to you mimi Everyone have a good night time to take the dogs out for a quick walk before it gets too late
damn it I am going to have to go through all my books
That was my experience after my divorce, too, crossy....no frame of reference. Am happy my ex and I are like brother and sister now....we have not lost love, just cannot live together.
like i have said before, she is the rock i lean on when the weight of the world is crushing me and i am her staff to hold her up when she falters.perfect match
Night, speed....we'll be on touch soon.
Night Speed
So envious, crossy...I'll never have that...though I tried.
yes,hot lust is good with a younger person, but without that frame of reference youi soon get tired of being a teacher
Crossy----rowboat......
hehe
My ship is permanently docked....done....
Sad because I really was an excellent partner...even the ex says so...he is sorry now...too little, too late.
oh!! one sec ..let me show you all what i am getting her for our 20th this october!!..wait here..
In addition to Ireland?
Hi lost Mimi
HIs even
ok,back.when we first got married i was so poor i got us a 200 dollar set of ceap gold plated wedding band ,so for our 20th,i want to give her this, but need a womans opinion...
it is a tea rose emerald set... http://tinyurl.com/nbzkndk
Cross that is amazing.
i love the emeralds and the way it fist together
fits
Thank you, lady..appreciate it. You cannot even imagine what I went through for 23 years.
Everyone deserves to be with someone they care about.
((mimi))
Cross what colour rings does the Mrs wear
crossy, truly exquisite. Of course, my birthstone is emerald (as is yours). I am so happy for your wife that she has been lucky enough to have you....maybe in my next life....
none atm,her old wedding band and her tenth aniversary band are both in need of resising and sit in the jewellery box but her fav colour is green
Cross get those rings resized
and she is happy with a silve or white gold on the band
i will herin
I agree, lady, but I gave everything I had to my marriage and my children and I have nothing left in that area.
White gold, crossy...silver tarnishes too easily.
good point
OK---do all of us want to talk to Mrs. Crossy?!!!
her 10th band still fits, but it is the old wedding band that is the problem so i will sneak away with both one day and have it done
It's like we are a crossy harem.....but no sex!
lol,my babble harem:)
Mimi give to yourself. Seriously once a week for year pay YOURSELF into a bank account or tin and then go and do something you want
You and ruru are our men, dear. So happy you are there!
good advice herin
You are never too old to get your butterfly wings back
Am waiting for a lawsuit settlement and then am planning to finally move to a little house where I can have gardens again, lady. I am very good to myself and give myself little gifts on a regular basis. Important to be your own best friend.
we are also waiting on lawyers for this trip to ireland.they do love to dawdle do they not?
I also keep up my singing voice. Classically trained in voice and singing since age 8....gives me great joy.
Do not wait for a settlement. If you have income now squirrel it away
I have no money at all now, lady. Must wait.
How do you live?
OMG....they are doing Leonard Cohen's Allelujah on my Roku/Netflix now......crying.
same here, everything is pared right back with our one pleasure being the internet package
hands mimi a hankercheif..
I have been very lucky to have wonderful friends and family who keep me going since the heart attack. Social Security has been a nightmare....and no help whatsoever. I get my first early retirement check in July.
Thanks, crossy....so emotional with music.
Social Security is a right bitch
music is universal:))
here, thay raised the retirement from 65 to 67 and if you take the early date you lose 4k a year
Yes, music feeds the soul. I cannot do anything much when I have music on in the background....struggling to keep my chat going right now.
The thing here is, you take early retirement but the amount is the same...just spread out over a longer period, thus less per month. We aren't really losing money.
assuming you live long enough
Gram is turning 90 in a couple of weeks. She is so excited about her party
Hey, I decided to take it now...I could be hit by a bus tomorrow and then lose all benefits paid in. Still planning on a second career...not giving up.
the early date for me vs the regular date would be the difference between surviving and living
yaa for mimi!!
Still hoping to get back on stage singing!
Tina Turner is 10 years older than me....hello.
<---- picture mimi in some cocktail lounge draped over the top of a piano singing those smokey 40,s tunes
Did I mention I'm writing a book about my life? Letting it ALL hang out....couldn't turn it into a movie...would have to be a miniseries!
Funny, crossy...that's my picture also!
I can do Heart and Pat Benatar but also love Nina Simone and Billie Holiday.
Still "rehearse" weekly....gives me great joy.
accck!! 80,s music!! get it off mee!!! lalala..crossy is not lsitening
there are execeptions of course like dire straits etc
I have a good friend who is a DJ on a classic rock radio station.....they are wonderful. Still trying to get my own show with them.....
Yes....love dire straits!
80's music is awesome
i cannot remember exactly whe it was in the 80,s but i turned on the radio one day and heard cindy lauper hiccuping her way through girls just wanna have fun and did not turn the radio on again till 1990.just huddled in the corner with my record collection
I know all the Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync songs...my daughter grew up with them. But when she went to Community College and had a musicology course she did her paper on The Doors....so proud!
she should of done a paper on floyds the wall record:))
or meats bat out of hell..would you bare your throat to the wold with the red rose?
lol

OK---indulgent story...sold the only good thing her father ever gave me to get scalped tickets to a Backstreet Boys concert and we went together...great memory.

Love Meatloaf, crossy...........Paradise by the Dashboard Lights.....
lol, last concert i went to was..what..think burton cummings was at the dardanella in wasaga beach

that was a good make out tune cause it was nice and long
Alas, lady, she seems to not remember....we haven't spoken for over a year....broken my heart.
most girls i dated could not appreciate inna-gadda-davida9sp) by iron butterfly so i went with that instead
Sorry, crossy, hated that song........like slow torture.
that si sad mimi:((
Mimi - if you can maybe try and repair the communication bridge. Even if you actually write her a snail mail letter
Lady, I am at the point where I don't like her...sad, but true. She is so cruel and I don't understand it. Lots of history there. She was my baby girl and I can't even stand thinking of her anymore.....
:((
Maybe you need to write it out and tell her what you have said here
lol, down to 14 words.only took me an hour to find that last one:/
I did my best, lady. I stayed married to their father for 23 years which was 17 years after I knew it was over for me to their sake. I get no credit. It breaks my heart but I am trying to move on.....I loved her so much and we were so close. I have tried to remedy but to no avail
I personally feel you need to actually tell her this in a letter. Even if you do start it with - I know you don't want to read this but I must tell you this. Live a life with no regrets
OK---I am done for now. Thanks all for your love and support. This is such a special community of people. Hugs all around
tc,mimi and have a good night
Mimi best wishes hun
Sorry, all....difficult time of year for me...Mother's Day, my birthday and Memorial Day. Will be better tomorrow.
You are all so special.
Dont be sorry for how you feel
Hugs, lady.

Why do I subject myself to very wrong adult style cartoons
i shall just call you liz then for the future and easu of use for my big paws i call hands
lol, herin,as long as it is not the cool devices series, you are ok
I'll answer to anything, as long as it's not rude ;-)
This is by Adult Swim - r rated cartoon mostly because of its swearing not really nudity
or japanese dragon anime porn lol
It is not porn just very very violent wrong animation.
ugh.i am very glad to see they pulled that lolicon stuff.was horrible.myself and i do not know how many others reported it
Doesn't really bother me because I am not mental case
i just like to make sure that stuff gets pulled asap

yeah Gwen!
lol,gwen,you naughty girl
Book we were watching Black Dynamite and Archer.
don't know those shows at all, sorry . . .
I haven't had tv for a couple of decades, is this a cable channel?
One is Adult Swim and very wrong.
Kelis we don't have cable we down load it
adult swim is a time slot on the cartoon network. it is midnight until (?) and they show cartoons for grownups.
well, some of the shows are live action, but with at list a little bit of animation. a lot of them are 15 minutes long (back in the early days of tv and radio they had lots of 15-min shows, so that is quaint)
Ok, thanks. I'm culturally illiterate.
It is Sunday morning here so it was figured Cartoon hour
bad taste, dark humor, violence, etc, but not much actual porn
tevo + doctor who = I have no clue what other shows are out there, even when we're hanging out somewhere with a tv.
i don't have cable, either, but i go over to a friend's house to watch tv. it's all recorded on DVR so I don't always know what network it's on, and stuff, and it has to be a show we're both into, as well
No cable here either
of course i got him hooked on doctor who right off the bat LOL
Dr Who is awesome
There's no shortage of good things to watch via internet or from our public library
naturally!
yeah, at home i watch dvds that i get at rummage sales and so forth (i go to rummage sales for my main biz, buying and selling used books)
hey hey, it's a babbler party!
Hi Pip
i'll bring the tostitos
howdy herin
hi all
hi jmc
When I was young I was stuck for several weeks in houston getting treated for cancer, and one of the most unsetting things for me was that they were not broadcasting Dr. Who there.
HI
and i was just mixing margaritas! *pulls out glasses and pitcher*
howdee pippingeek, jmc, and whoever else sneakin' in
MD Anderson?
yep.
(why does it not surprise me that there's no doctor who in houston?) lol
Aww Elis.
i vaguely remember watching it when I lived in Houston. . . but i may be mistaken. . .
well, i'm off to waste more time on other games. see yas
how long has it been running?
At that time there wasn't. Not even on Saturdays...
bye book
Bye Book
Dr. Who started in 1963.
we used to get it long ago on old channel 17 our public broadcasting station.every 15 minutes they would cut to dontation requests
I thought so. . . in the mid 70s it was on tv in Houston. . .
i think anyway. . . i only watched it a few times. . .
that and magic shadows:)
and unending episodes of coronation street:((
haha someone with the email mrjonathanmarcell@yahoo.com.hk has just given me a grant!
what country is hk?
Hong Kong?
ahah!
they get a separate designation? tsk I am surprised the Chinese allow that
Is that the same email account as the I have won 1million pounds?
no doubt
but he didn't say how much my grant was
i have won more U.K lotteries that i can count
i mainly win the irish lottery
and they used to want to hire my law firm to handle mysterious estates
and lots of offers to amke a cool mil transferring funds from african banks from doctors
make
well i got my offers because i had a reputation as an honest business man! haha
lol
all i had to do is help them defraud their country
That sounds like fun
sure every honest business person's dream is to defraud another government
jmc.I need to send you a note later.

O Dear

WTF
Go to the Sarg because she was driving dangerously. Was not in full control of her car
HOw the hell does a guy on a motorcycle get a ticket?
I had one run into me once, and I was so petrified I didn't care who's fault it was!
it is a $25 ticket but . . .
i told him he should ask the insurance co to demand her cell phone records. . .
NOt the point
i agree herin. . .
they claim that even though he had his blinker on he swerved and that is why she didn't see him through her cell phone. . .
How is that a valid argument??. - Her vision was impaired.
Go all lawyer on their ass
well she didn't mention the phone to the cop. . .
if need be i will hire someone else to go all lawyer on her. . . i am not the criminal lawyer my hubby was. . .

hey all!
oh, a small grid again.
Hi, stid!
hey sue!
Did I see you got a job, stid?
*wanders back looking for more popcorn*
hi all
hi jmc!
hey jmc
no sue, I got an interview. We'll see how it goes. I know what to do, and now I just need to gather the materials -- the things I used to have, of course, are gone. So starting tomorrow I have work to do!
my calendar says it is the dance of the planets but i have no clue what that is
Ah, well, interview is good!!
interview is good!
Three planets are relatively close in the sky at the moment, jmc
venus and what?
no to mention where?
Jupiter and Mercury
so low in the sky
yes, the first I have ever been asked to go to. Hoping it will be the last I go to for a while. But that may be overly wishful thinking.
mercury never gets very high as i recall
right, as it is quite close to the sun
think of it as an opportunity to learn how to interview stid. . .
remember to have some idea about their school and what makes it different as well as some questions. . .
i hate to interview people who have no clue about my organizations. . .
have already done that research, jmc! :-D I have taught there many times, and know the district's positive qualities as well as things that I will have to "accept" until I have an opportunity to make a difference.
then you are way ahead already!!
ah, having already taught there gives you a big leg up!
I know the age, the curriculum. I don't know the interviewers personally, but I do know that being myself is the best way to get a job in a place that will value me and my "style" and personality.
dress slightly better than you would for work. . .
then be yourself as you say. . .
I also have been thinking about how I would answer questions about discipline, my "dream class" to teach (what would you teach if you had the chance and no limits), my philosophy of teaching... LOL
. . . and where you want to be in 5 (10) years. . . .
Ballgowns aren't appropriate, jmc! *grin* I will wear dress pants and a blouse as I do when I teach.
I want to be teaching in 30 years! LOL I can honestly say, "I want to be in a classroom, enjoying the opportunity to work with children as they learn..."
that is a great answer stiddie
I don't have any scarves to wear, but I do have some jewelry that has been cleaned, so I might have a necklace.
how about *now that i have had a taste of it, i can honestly say. . . *
yes. . . just a tad nicer to show respect. . .
I like that intro
I will also go get new dress shoes. I used to have such a lovely pair for interviewing, but haven't replaced those yet. We'll see. Might mean a quick trip up to Tacoma to get to a store with a good selection.
nice shoes are a plus. . .
and i know i don't have to worry about you wearing perfume!
And if I get the right pair I would be able to teach in them on "fancy" occasions!
good idea stiddie. . .
Oh, no perfume. The solid ones I used to have are gone, of course. And the custom in this area is to wear very little scent because so many people have trouble with it.
And no makeup, of course.
Might dye my hair... do you think hot pink would be too shocking? *innocent mama look*
i would go with blue. . . that seems to be the color of choice in Washington State. . .;-)
if you have grey, dying it is a good idea. . .
ha, my son asked me once (when he was in high school) what I would do if he dyed his hair pink. I told him it was his hair and I didn't care. He never dyed it.
blue might work... I have "just enough" gray -- without it I look late 20s early 30s from a distance. Unless I use my cane, which at the moment isn't necessary.
my son dyed his with jello for the jr prom. . .he wore blue and his date wore pink
but the nice thing about jello is that it washes out
All of the women my age in those schools wear funky hair and lots of clanky jewelry and makeup. *yuck face*
that actually sounds like fun! I have been thinking what would pink, blue , red look like ......
a little makeup maybe but you are right about not a lot. . .
I am thinking I might actually try jello hair this summer, have always wanted to. I think with so many awful changes, a fun change would be in order.
AND it might help the workers on our house find me in the back yard while I am working on my own projects.
If my hair were lighter i might go for lime green in the spring!
I can't wear makeup, jmc -- for the same reason I don't wear perfume.
lime green could work for you, jmc... *assesses possibilities*
they were very cute in the pictures. . .he wore all black except for a white tie. . .
ah well then no makeup it is. . .
I bet that was a lot of fun!
also, since I never wear makeup, my skin really does have natural color. ;-) no fear of looking pale or ill.
well, I hadn't thought of it that way - now that my hair is white I could make it any color I want!
think of the excitement at the council me**ings! haha
oooh! I think a lovely blue would be nice for you, sue! or you could do the school colors -- red and black, is it?
Red and black indeed. Or I could go with light blue for Mount Holyoke, or a brighter blue for Yale...
i could have done blue and white for my school graduation! *sigh* another missed opportunity
true.
what color have you decided on gemini?
gemini could do all of the colors...
Pink,,,, is what I was thinking???
my hair is salt and pepper now...
so would it be pink and pepper?
that would be nice. . . very feminine and cheery! haha
does it only color the gray/white?
ah, pink! I love pink...
well it probably colors the dark hair too but it doesn't show as much. . . my boy had light brown hair and it was pretty blue
well my choices right now are Strawberry, Orange, lemon or lime....
yum!
but i think yellow is probably not a good choice
orange could be cute especially if you are a UT alum!
that's what's in the pantry,,, no ,, I am a summer/winter... never wear browns, yellows, oranges....
then either strawberry or lime!
well that leaves strawberry and lime
snap
there are some very good yellows for the "cool season" people though -- clear, bright and happy.
any special directions... just mix it and apply like shampoo?
oddly i always wore brown and orange until i read that book . . .
yes,,, I have a couple... love them,,, but not my best color
lord sorry gemini. . .my boy is 27 now. . . that was 10 years ago!
I wear what makes me happy -- usually the colors you like to see are the ones that look good on you.
so did I,,, was always buying those colors,, then now liking them when I got them home
true
i suspect you use it like a rinse and don't rinse it out
i liked them well enough. . . but now almost everything i own is black!
and,,, style your hair ... because it won't move after the jello dries?
with an occasional pink, teal or red blouse. . .
try this site, gemini http://tinyurl.com/63ubvc
ty mama
i don't think it brushes out that easily gemini. . .
but now i want a pic of you with the colorful hair. . .:-(
helmet head?
lol
I am supposedly a spring, but I look really good in black! Usually I put "jewel tones" with it so they pop. I like browns and blues, too -- but it's hard to get those to "match" from year to year. Black is relatively stable as a dye.
so how do you know what season you are?
I could dye my hair black... and go "goth" to the interview! LOL
I had to get "color analyzed" a couple of times before I got the correct season
oh,, a book,,,, Color me a Season,,, well there were several books,,, that is one
hmmm, maybe it is in the library...
i think a goth teacher only works for jr high
oh, it's a matter of looking at what clothes you get compliments on how well you look when you wear them, analyzing them for the hue and tone (yellow/gold vs. blue/silver -- the former indicate spring/fall and the latter summer/winter)
probably Sue... look under color analysis....
i forgot the name of the book. . . but i am a winter
i am sure it is in the library
and the more delicate colors in those categories would be spring and summer and the more emphatic colors are fall/winter.
it came out about the same time as dress for success
the one I likes,,, divided people into 12 ~~ 3 for each season,,,, I was a summer 3,,, almost a winter
winter colors complement my personality! haha
**liked
clue for the me6 please
someone who helps...
It works really well for some people, but in the end, if you wear what makes you happy -- and what people think makes you look good -- then you are fine. I remember going to stores with color swatches in my purse. Kept several even up to now, but they were in the house so now I don't have them any more.
ty gemeni
thanks for the helper word
i remember the book talking about thinking about the dresses you really loved growing up and what color were they. . .
It helped me shop,,, I used to look at everything,,, after understanding the theory... I only have to look at the cool colors
yep. makes things a little simpler, for sure!
i realized i had had three dresses that i loved. . .and they were all primarily black with white trim. . .
hahaha, I hated dresses when I was growing up. How about my cowgirl outfit?
well then blouses uu! haha
personality figured into it too
I may have the wrong attitude for this :-)
if you haven't needed it up to now,,, you probably don't need to worry about what color you are wearing
i had this all black dress that zipped up the front with an invisible zipper and a little white lace standing color that i made in high school that i thought was the most sophisticated dress ever!
i used it for dress up uu
LOL sue!
you are probably wearing the best colors for you anyway!
I love black,,, and wear a lot of it...
what color was your cowgirl outfit? mine was blue, and didn't suit me well, but the matching cowboy one was perfect for my brother!
haha, I am not exactly a fashion maven, if it fits and is clean that is about 95% of the was there
I am currently wearing an old yellow and orange quilt... :-)
mine was red and black, as I recall, stid
I have on pink pajamas!
i wear blue jeans 28 out 30 days a month myself. . .
I'm wearing a grey t-shirt and tan corduroy pants
*imagines gemini in her pink pjs with lime green and black hair*
lol....
I wore a black t shirt and white jeans to the auction today
i was so excited with the boy graduate college and i could afford to have a second pair of jeans
it was a predictor of your teaching career, sue!
could be, stid; I started at the University of Oklahoma whose color was also red!
4 left
I finally own a decent pair of jeans that fit... :-)
go jmc go!
2,,, the tis
I can't wear white pants... ever. in 50 years I have never managed to get through a day with the pants still white!
i need one N
I did ok,,,, even had a sloppy joe for lunch
oh, I can't wear ANYTHING white, it is always a disaster!
go gemini go!
I am down to 10
