Hooray, indeed! I read your mind, mael! Congrats!

Evening folks from Guiting Power, Gloucester, England
Gloucestershire
howdy,bichon and howdy everyone:)
hi all
guess it was not a bad day to wait until the evening to look at the grid
here is dinner tonight in the crossy household it is a quick easy dish and i pre-cook the sausage and let in marinate in the sauce in the fridge all day and if i do not have any leftover pasta i just do it at same time so near dinner time i just slam it all together in 5 minutes and bake.add a nice salad and a crusty itallian loaf of bread and you have a full meal to feed4-6 people
450g pack pork sausages 2 tbsp wholegrain mustard 2 tbsp tomato ketchup 1 tbsp golden syrup or honey 2 tbsp olive oil 1 red onion peeled and sliced 1 red pepper, deseeded and diced 200g mushrooms, wiped and quartered 1 tsp chilli powder 400g can chopped tomatoes 150ml apple juice 300g cooked left over pasta bows (or other shapes) 150g Edam or other firm white cheese, diced 6 easy steps... Preheat the oven to 400F/200C/Gas 6. Place the sausages in a baking try and cook for 15 minutes. Meanwhile, mix together the mustard, ketchup and golden syrup. Heat the olive oil in a frying pan and add the onion, red pepper and mushrooms, stir fry for 5 minutes then add the chilli powder, chopped tomatoes and apple juice and stir well. Stir in the cooked left over pasta. Spoon into an ovenproof serving dish. Remove the sausages from the oven and slice each into 3 on a diagonal. Tip into a bowl, drizzle with the mustard mixture and arrange over the pasta. Scatter with diced cheese and return to the oven for 20 minutes.
indeed jmc,tiny one today
lots of really good bacon here in the UK crossy
yes,you make some good rashers on that side of the pond as well:))
I had Yorkshire pudding for the first time today. Not what I expected either
Did you like it Bich?
It was okay, nothing exciting. More like fried bread
I've always found it kind of bland.
agree Molly, but I had lunch from the Carvery, pork, lamb and beef. Yummy
That sounds good.
Mississippi Mud Pie for dessert. The village had a garden tour today. So muc funny chatting with all the gardeners
After the tour, some of the ladies baked cakes and we had tea there
Oh, I bet that was pretty.
Nobody does cottage gardens like the English
I've seen some very nice pictures of them.
All the hosts were fun to chat with
See you all tomorrow
OMG! Your doing it wrong! Yorkshire puddings should be served with roast beef! And if made correctly, should NEVER be bready. Just light n fluffy & ethereal!
Sorry for the rant! Hi all :-)
There you go, Soodle! I was just thinking the same thing! YP should be thin and light and soaking up the beef juices! Yum..
<------ makes seriously good YP! Its all in how much you 'batter' the batter!.......
Hey Mimi. :-)
Yep---it's not like a souffle or bread where you put a lot of batter in and it becomes dense....basically the opposite, right? Just a thin layer and get it crispy on the outside. ((Soodle)) Wouldn't you know us Irish can cook it!
Phantom: torque.
Looking back at chat, I want to eat at crossy's house tonight!!!
hi all!
The crispier & thinner the better! And Horesradish Sauce is a MUST!
Hello Sue ((((())))
((sue))
hi soodle and mimi! Two of my favorite ladies!
Awww...thanks, sue! Right back at 'ya!
Well. Sue, 2 weeks into wedded bliss...... Everything as it should be?
indeed it is, soodle! We are very happy and looking forward to Frank being done with chemo - last treatment is Wednesday!
I think the first (20?) years prepared them! Great, sue...so happy that will be over.
Whoo-hoo!!!!!!! So happy for you both Sue. (((()))))
Have they given a prognosis, sue?
we've been living together 5 years but were apart for 38 years before that, dated and got engaged in high school but drifted apart when we went to different colleges
<------- Sucker for the happy ever after stories! :-)
Amazing picture on your icon, sue!
so we set a world record for length of engagement, I think, almost 45 years!
no prognosis, mimi, except that he will have to go for scans every 3-6 months from now on
Wow...I can't imagine being with anyone that long. I had to head for the hills after 23!
well, that 38-year gap in the middle makes it seem much shorter :-)
Guess you can ask crossy about the continuing scans. But if he has made it this far I would think it looks pretty good.
Doing a little happy dance around my kitchen for Sue & Frank. (Hoping the neighbours have their blinds drawn. Ccc)
I didn't know your history with Frank, sue....amazing! I'm still friends with my first love (at age 15) but he is married (for the 3rd time)...not at all interested in a mate anymore anyway.
it just depends on whether there were stray cancer cells left after the surgery, and if the chemo has done them in or not - which we won't know unless they grow into something big enough to be visible on the scan - but because he was stage 4 they will never say he is cured or even in remission
so it is scary, and will continue to be scary, but we will just have to cope with things as they happen
I guess you just must live every day as a blessing, sue, and make the most of it.
Indeed.
Sue, will you give that husband of yours a great big squashy hug from me? Thanks!
That's kind of the way I feel now a year and a half after my heart attack.
I will indeed, soodle! :-)
:-)
ah, I didn't know about that, mimi, must have been a real wake-up call!
Not at all the same as cancer but still glad to be alive.
Nor I Mimi?
Woke up to a heart attack one morning and called the ambulance. Had 100% blockage of an artery. Was in hospital for 4 days and then on 8 medications that were worse than the heart attack. But down to 3 now and walking 1/2 mile in 12 minutes. Only slowed me down a bit!
good for you, mimi!
I've almost died 3 times in my life and I'm convinced I'm still here because God doesn't want me up there criticizing the way he's doing things! I can almost hear him saying "Leave her down there, I don't need the grief!"
I keep saying that once I actually retire I will get my diet and exercise to a much healthier state than they are in now - I have another 4 weeks :-)
Get my first early retirement check next month, sue, and so happy to have an income again.
ah, good for you! I actually am collecting retirement but am also working, so am looking forward to the "working" part going away.
I'm trying to get a part-time job to supplement. In another 1.5 yrs. I'll get more because my ex will be of age. That will be nice.
ah, that will help. I can also get some Social Security but plan to wait as long as possible to claim it - I should be ok as long as the state of Illinois stays solvent, which may not be very long the way things are going
Waiting also for lawsuit against Social Security to get to court (takes 15-18 months!) so I'll, hopefully, get the back money they denied me wrongfully. They turn EVERYONE down now. Even turned down a guy I know who had terminal cancer...and did die! Horrible process and so unfair.
Ugh, that is really awful :-(
All I did last year after the heart attack was file and wait, three times. Have a lawyer who specializes in SS law and has been in practice for over 10 yrs. so must be good or wouldn't still be practicing. He gets 25% when we settle but I probably wouldn't get anything if I didn't have him, so that's OK. Just hate waiting!
fireworks! (that is, I found all 47 words :-P )
Yes, it seems that having a lawyer is the only way to get SS unless you are old enough to claim it anyway
Good for you, sue! I'll be giving up LONG before that.
This SS was disability-related so age isn't a factor.
didn't use to be the case - when my mom died my sister got a check automatically since she was still under age
Golly! Well done Sue! I'm struggling with this grid.
Yep, Soodle, this is one mean little bugger!
well, I couldn't have done it without lickety and morewords!
I never get all the words on any of the grids, but at least with the bigger ones I can have fun and feel productive. These little ones just aggravate me.
Not ambitious enough to list, sue! Such an underachiever!
well, I am actually learning more words by doing this, so I guess that is a good thing! Keep the old grey matter functioning...
I probably should...just not motivated yet.
Must get some things done. Good talking with you two lovely ladies! BIG hugs.
that's one of the things I like about this game - you can decide for yourself how you want to play, and how you define success!
bye, mimi! See you later!
hello friends!
hi trif!
hello sue. so nice to see you in the chog!
nice to see you too! I love those stairs in your icon.
aren't they great? someday....
secondo's real name is in the grid today!
pretty rare
cool!
went to an absolutely beautiful wedding last night....still basking in the glow
ah, lovely! Weddings are such fun.
this one sure was! whew!
dancing dancing dancing!
can I please have the count for the o in the fourth column, fourth row?
sorry THIRD row

enjoy your tea, dear sue
quore
oops!..not even a word!
Help with pe5,12 please
got it.
Hello, just about half way and hope to finish this grid.
mimi.do not mean to make you uneasy but here in the great white north it is the same for odsp(social security) it took a full ten year for them to recognize that my wifes blindness might impact her ability to get work
hello all....
Hello to my fellow babblers! How is everybody doing today
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! Way to go!
and even then they said"oh but we have a blind person in our disability office working on a speech to type program to dictate letters" and i said "well how often does a job like that open up?"
Hello minver and all. Working on a couple of six letter words and may need resrouces. I need the pe 6, 21 and the qu 6, 27 (the first one).
all that is,is your token disabled person
got the qu, now for the pe 6, 21.
Fire works for little ol me.
Monkeys were doing very well today.
Congratulations stidgmere on your fireworks! Good for you
yay gmere!
and hi again all, popping in briefly and can clue if needed.
suze!
Mrs O!!
hi crossy!
:-)
how is married life treating you? is frank behaving?? lol
we are coming up to our 20th,our 22nd together and my beloved says the training may be done in another 10 years..maybe..she hopes
but remember,SHE proposed to me,so she asked for it! lol
we are good, crossy, we've been together for 5 years already anyway so no big change in the day-to-day routine, but it is nice to be married, finally
i am sure it is:))
it changes things, especially in the states
evening all
hi jes!
howdy,jes
yes, the health insurance is a big deal here
matters not here, but a wedding brings a closer union a noeness of body and soul
oneness
yes, there is that too
so close, that when you close your eyes,i go to sleep...
my father was rather surprised when I told him about it on the phone (it was a done deal by then); I will have to write him a note
crossy, Frank is coming up on his last chemo treatment on Wednesday, and is starting to get quite anxious about the upcoming scan (probably about 3-4 weeks away) which will tell us if the chemo actually worked or not
yaaa for frank.i remember this day from my post second cancer chemo.i remember it well
this is the bit test.for all the marbles
I am pretty anxious about it myself, the statistics are not on our side on this one :-(
i did not want to tell you the stats.i already knew them, but you are a samrt woman and you know our cancer tratments have come leaps and bounds in the last 30 years.remember,if terry fox were alive and doing his run today,he would of survived
I hope so
smart
just read a paper about the treatment Frank is getting, it extends survival by an average of 4 months (from 25 to 29 months after diagnosis)
I am hoping, since he was an extremely early stage 4, that he will be on the long-lived tail of the distribution
but we will just have to see, and enjoy the days we have
at least.and remember, the survival curve improves once you get past 3 years till the 5th year when it is reduced to 10% chance of a cancer other than the initial type
he's planning to leave his port in for a while, just in case
yes.if his oncologist is good with it,by all means
i have a big test coming up myself in the second week of june
he'll have to switch oncologists once he's on my insurance; the plan I'm on doesn't cover the local hospital
I thought you just had a scan? Is that when you get the results?
i find that the doctors who can wear the oncology badge are all top shelf,so i would not worry
i get results on ct/blood/x-rays on june 11th
yes, I think it will be fine but wanted to wait until the current bout of chemo is done to switch - hence the timing of our wedding
have enlardged nodes in my right boob atm
will be thinking about you then, crossy!!
i will be fine:)
Frank had some swelling in his armpit a few weeks ago but it seems to have gone away - but every little thing is a cause for worry now -
please let me know the scan results for frank in 3-4 week, either here or in pm in fb.i am following you and want nothing but the best
will do :-)
I've been posting on caringbridge.org as well, link in my profile
it never ends afer this.every 3 months for the first 2 years and every 6 months after that, forever
yes, I think that is what we are looking at to
*too
you do not dare miss an appt.betwem my first cancer and my second,i got lazy and blew off two appts in the winter because they were in the city and a long drive.come spring i had my stage 3 lymphnoma.they found it while doing a test for my sperm health
I will make him go, absolutely.
lol.now after 3 cancers(seminoma(operation),lymphnoma(\nchemo and melanoma (surgery it is all a moot point:) though the babble room may say TMI.i do not care
no worries!
only by sharing cancer stories can you help others
exactly, and I very much appreciate your sharing with us!
reminds me// GET THOSE MOLES CHECKED AND AS BAZ LUNDRUM SAYS "WEAR SUNSCREEN!!"
Indeed. I get a skin check every year as I am quite spotty :-)
had our local resident surgeon cut a half dozen out of me that were stage 2 and as he termed them "agressive"

Yes, "aggressive" was how they described Frank's tumor as well, was good that we didn't wait any longer to get it taken out
indeed!
some people are embarrased by cancer.they hide it.feel like they failed or are shunned by the rest of society but i am to the point,in your face"this is nothing but a defective part of me that is only holding me back" attack kind of survivor.i pull zero punches
people have become much more open about cancer than they were when my mother got it 40 years ago - a good thing IMHO
i even vounteer on a cancer hot line run by our big cancer hospital.new cancer patrients can call it just for advice,to vent or whatever
it is my way of paying it forward
good for you!!
i will soon be working for our local cancer society and driving local patients in my town to cancer treatments in the city.again.paying it forward to those who did it for me
