Congrats, Dee and ruru!!!!!
now I can just joke and mess with people :D
Me, too, tonight... have a sore mouth, still... going to take pain med... think I may have to go back to dentist this week... not sure what is going on, but everything is sore.
Oh my aching back. Just finished cleaning up after Happy Hour(s) with 6 other peeps, which started at 5:30 and now it's 11 pm. And I spent all day getting stuff ready.
ouch.. do you have an abcess
?
not sure how to spell that actually?
Wow, Jili... you must be exhausted. Hope not, ru... didn't think so...
abscess, I think
ah
I yam indeed pooped.
did you have cocktails jilli ?
Love having folks in, but it IS a lot of work before and after.
Poor dee!
I made a mexican dinner.. the kitchen is destroyed
Yeah... pretty frustrated at this point. I bet, ru... lots of work.
right you are, dee. It was easier when I had hubby to help, but...
you just need a personal assistant jilli.. as important as you are :D
I really don't enjoy cooking and prepping, but I do enjoy the company.
I love cooking and prepping
I'm cooking for twelve in a couple of weeks
I wish I did but I really really don't.
What are you fixing, ru?
I'm a nervous wreck. I never liked playing "house" as a little girl, or dolls. I enjoyed a chemistry set and books and didn't mind paper dolls and cutting out clothes for them from Vogue and such.
Spinach salad with a balsamic shitake mushroom/bacon dressing and crumbled eggs, seared scallops on crispy potatoes with truffle oil, and grilled filet mignon on vegetable compote with mushroom/red wine reduction sauce
and lavender ice cream and apple pie
LOL, jili... sounds like me as a kid.
I'd come too if it didn't make an unlucky thirteen for dinner, ru!
YUM, ru!! I have never tasted lavender ice cream... sounds interesting
LOL jilli.. you'd never be an unlucky.. at least as far as I'm concerned
I could be 14, then, jili!
you have to steep the cream and milk in lavender dee and add vanilla beans and then make the ice cream.
I played rugger and French Cricket (I was a Brit kid) with the boys, but I skipped rope too with the girls..."I was a Girl Guide. dressed in blue..." or "One, two, buckle my shoe..."
you have to get the lavender that isn't poisonoud too
poisonous
xx ruru
I'm coming to cook you and Flosey dinner next year ..
I didn't know lavender could be poisonous.
and Bugs too
certain kinds of lavender are dee.
I buy the good stuff at Pensee's
I'm gonna level the room with the mushroom sauce..it's to die for
Interesting. I am surprised that you haven't owned or run a restaurant in your lifetime, ru. You are such a good chef.
I couldn't handle the hours dee... chefs work incredibly hard for a living
I love cooking for people though
I know some chefs that work 90 + hours a week
every day.. ten to 12 hours
Very true...
I couldn't take it
I'm taking my first vacation in many years though
Well, I am off til the flip((ru)) ((jili))
I thought you already did that, ruru --?
gnight dee xx
nite *poof*
nope.. leaving on the 14th

i took a short trip to Montana though.. I have the traveling bug right now
for how long, ru? Where are you going? I know you already told us but I've forgotten.

ah, it must have been the Montana tri[ I remembered.
yes
that was nice.. but too short
*trip
I should head to bed too. i have an early start for work.. night jilli.. glad your party was successful and fun

Hi Aloy
aloy!!! hello hun
back from your hike, Scrabbs?
hello aloy
ooh, granny, that clue gave me two
I leave for the Adirondack Mtns tomorrow morning. We will have 6 days of kayaking and hiking as long as the weather cooperates.
aloy, you re on a roll, hun
halfway, NBT and NBS - time for breakfast
Isn't troup a word? Or is it French?
scrabs, wish i had your knees...lol
enjoy, teach.
second cuppa.. up at 5am, did water monitoring.. no seeums ate me up.. ugh.. hope you have wonderful weather, Scrabbs.. do you use insect repellant?
scrabs, ends with an e
OK
holy cow, I missed the gr5 hug
Oh, yes, we spray with DEET.
well, I'm going to use it next time for sure
I like the herbal lotion form of OFF..
it has deet in it
OFF Botanicals is "natural", and I think is DEET-free.
will check the label.. I know DEET is effective
Picaridin is a newer bug repellent that is very effective.
ty, will watch for that.. I love working/being outside, but don't enjoy being chewed up
now if I could find something that would repel fire ants..
have so many blisters that when I go for my checkup later, the doc may think I have a rash
cinnamon. . .ants wont cross it
hi snuffy
hi all
Hi j
they won't cross talcum powder, either. hey ya jmc
jmc! howdy... so, I should rub cinnamon on? hey, I'll go for it
i didn't know that granny
i have a tray covered with cinnamon in which my cat food and water bowls sit and the ants leave them strictly alone. . .
lol, in dry weather it is great outside...
if a piece falls on the floor the ants cover it. . .
great to know, jmc!
think how nice you will smell snuffy
you could also fill the tray with water, and put the bowls in that..
No, Aloy, I think you can place a ring of cinnamon or other things around your home or location and it keeps the ants away
lol.. a bit reddish too
oh rats, was hoping cinnamon would keep the fire ants from stinging
but the water evaporates or spills and the cinnamon just sits. . . i change it 2 or three times a summer
well if you keep them away. . . :-)
once, when we had a really bad ant problem, i stood the legs of our table in tins, filled with water. at least we could eat dinner ant-free.
true, jmc, true
interesting granny
good thinking

hi lbd
hi, Jmc
Reading about ants earlier in the chog. I have used aspartame very successfully. I packet of Equal can wipe out a whole colony of ants. P.S.: Don't consume it yourself; it's poison.
i thought equal was fake sugar?
must get my rear in gear. have fun with the grid! ttfn
bye lbd! nice to see you on your whirlwind tour! haha
1/2 will have to do for now. . . bbl with any luck. .. have a great day or evening as the case may be. . .

hi to all. Haven't chatted for a long time. Normally lurk!! Only need two for fw. help please with the ch6 and tr6. thank you
ch6 is a classical composer
thank you. I play piano. Can't believe I missed that
it feels like a proper noun :)
tr6...same word with a tr
Didn't think it would be allowed. Thanks for the tr6 molly. That's fireworks for me.
hmm. Apparently it's non-proper meaning is a liquid measure of about a quart.
Haven't had much time for babble lately. Really miss the chat though. Must try harder to make more time.
Any clues before I leave?
like your image, molly...
i can't believe my feet are cold....
Is your shoe off? Are your teeth gold? Do you have a bird you like to hold?
lol...
A bird flew into my house today.
Isn't mortite a kind of grout?
evian is water?
this grid is full of words that areen't words.
it's a brand name...
yes...even a composer!
Who remembers "77...WABC" radio?
Uptit is a bra?
brucie!...(right station??)
I think so. Cousin Brucie!
Yes To4, the predecessor to the Wonder Bra.
yes!... i remember cousin brucie....used to listen at night on my portable radio....
I do Kap.
I do Kap
what was the name of the other NY based dj who was called the "fifth beatle" because he accompanied them on their us tour?
Ed Sullivan?
no this was a dj...worked for a different radio station in ny...
Brucie?
no, another dj....
is there a WINS station? it was something like that...
That would be Murray The K
Murray the K
yes!....
Brings back wonderful memories for me
Radio was much better back then
well we could not afford to buy a lot of albums and my parents didn't let me sit in front of the tv all the time...radio was a nice escape...
Yes, I used to have a transistor
Radio was the only way people got music for a long time.
There would be news at the top and bottom of the hour, no looking at CNN any time you wanted
my eighth grade graduation gift was a transistor radio....loved that thing...
heading out...see you all later!
And weather was only forcast for today and tomorrow
sigh,i hae a transistor radio.went everywhere with me,big fat single white earbud and took a single square 6 volt.it taught me my first lessons in finance as my allowance was 25 cents a week.that would get me a bag of chips and a bottle of pop a week OR a single radio battery but not both,so i would alternate so i had my music.used to always be the old 1050 chum station out of toronto or trying to pick up wolfman jack at nights when the am band opened up:))
9 volt
i used to collect old pop bottles from the side of the road for their deposit.that got me extra batteries:)
small bottles were two cents, big ones were 5:)
it got so you knew to the minute how many hours of play time was in a single square 9v battery and you would ration yourself to make it last two weeks.if you did well with collecting pop bottles you would have any bonus batteries stacked like bars of gold on your book shelf and use thos for all night music blowouts friday and saturday night when you wee supposed to be sleeping:)
saturday night.homework and chores were done,in your room with a bonus battry in the transistor and a brand new Ray Bradbury from the library sitting on the bookshelf:)) heaven
i will just ramble aimlessly here.stop me if anyone is out there or bored:)
I just opened my screen... Hi crossy, the Canadian "rambler" :-)
howdy, dianne, was going to start talking to my invisible freinds soon
friends
grandson is paying us a surprise but welcome visit, and there MUST be fresh chocolate chip cookies.... that's what I've been doing !!
He''ll be 19 this October :-)
yaaaa! granmas baking!!
a new ray bradbury, that's going back
I see that the conversation had been about radio..... the first radio I remember was a big one, with lovely wood and a mesh front and it ran on a big battery--probably a Delco. Dad could pick up all the baseball games from the states, along with stuff from all over the world.
We girls were in deep trouble if we left it on and let the battery run down !!
Hey all
My memories... Lux Radio Theatre, Ozzie and Harriet,... Baby Snooks.... Our Miss Brooks.... Amos and Andy... The Whistler.... I Was a Communist for the FBI.... Damon Runyon theatre.... among many others !!
Hi IndiaJan :-)
hi india
Canada day here?
I don't know .... plenty of flags in evidence !! I guess because it's a holiday of sorts !
Growing up in toronto radio ment 1050 chum. that station had a lock on teen life, put out the top 30 list weekly, people answered the phone "i listen to chum" because that was how you could win their contests.
not canada day, in toronto it's lord simcoe day, lord byng in ottawa, founders of the towns.
I think IndiaJan just meant that there were a lot of Canucks chatting at the moment. I don't know what we call this day in Alberta, just the long August weekend I think :-)
indeed joso 1050 chum was king
all the canucks are out to play:)))
I see you are a comic book fan, joso. My son in law has a most awesome collection, worth quite a bit of money I think . One of the granddaughters ( his daughter ) loves to attend the Comic Con events when they are held. ( one coming up in Edmonton in September )
...with him of course.
apparently only Ontario and Manitoba do this 'let the municipality name the holiday thing', just a civic holiday for the rest of canada.
i call it crossy peameal bacon for breakfast day
Actually the values of old comics have dropped drastically, they started reprinting the old books in graphic novel collections and the bottom dropped out of the market.
Regardless, they still mean a lot to him and he would never sell them anyway.
same with coins and stamps.economy is tight and all the old hoarded collections are hitting the auctions and flooding the market.the only place we gain is in bullion value because as economy goes to hell people run to precious metals
hi everyone! i haven't been on in a long time! nice to be back! =]
hi everyone! i haven't been on in a long time! nice to be back! =]
hi everyone! i haven't been on in a long time! nice to be back! =]
well, hi melissa :-)
howdy, melissia and wb:)
they do to me too, it's odd how comics got more sophisticated as I grew older, like the beatles grew from yea yea yea to let it be, also as my tastes grew
hi melissa
hey all how's this grid? looks like a chigger -- small and nasty...
good until las 30 or so.i was aty 25 2 hours ago and am now at 23
oh boy cross, am I ever going to be in trouble! LOL
just to get you going stidmama, there are 4 dh words and 2 ph words
aha! thanks cross! *looking and monkeying*
got the DH words....
wow
i am a fan:))
and the PH words! I wouldn't have looked for them AT ALL. I have been "double consonant blind" all week
LOL *tosses bacon to cross*
crossy jumps for it....
cross, did you see how I fixed our chicken last night? It was so simple and so tasty!
do tell...
didn't use bacon though, saving the "bacon ends" I bought to make a bean soup later this week.
oh! french canadian split pea soup!! mmmmm
cross grabs the bacon in the end zone! TOUCHDOWN for the Canadians!!!! *the crowd goes wild*
the chicken I put on a bed of fennel root, celery and carrots, seasoned with roughly chopped garlic, fresh ground celery seed, black pepper, cayenne, thyme, sage and bay leaves. THEN (this is the genius part) I sliced a big lemon thinly and made a blanket of lemon to cover the top of the chicken. Used our brand-new roasting pan. about an hour and a half at 350 F and it was tender, tasty and salt-free! Didn't even feel I needed more salt and usually I do.
I should mention the chicken was "fresh" (butchered last Friday) from the local farm... so starts out tasty, tender and moist.
ohhhh..sounds delish
crossy is bad for salt
i expect my doctor to catch it any time and cut me off
yes, a lot of people have to avoid extra salt. This is one time that both Tom (who hates to add any salt ever) and I were completely satisfied with the meal at the same time :-)
then it was the perfect meal:))
22..sigh am getting about one word every 30 minutes now
exactly *proud mama-cook look* I have been so uninterested in food since the fire that it was really nice for me to have an idea and actually make it. And then we had Tom's berry pie for dessert...

go go crossy!
wtg crossy!!
keep plugging!
lol, plugging? i have grown to love the the sonic boom sound of these 20 hidden words as they whiz by me..
I'm hitting 'the wall' at 31 left...may list soon. That being said, do have nbt/nbs!
yaa for jilly!
have a good day jilly! I think the list is a great idea about now
oh pfft dh words. I never think to look for those
lol,i love it.we no longer need to call it "boxed" wine " we can now call it cardboreaux" hehe
LOL...that's how I got my nbt/nbs
lol nice!
cardboardeaux*
That's really apt, today. I need to share that with my father.
My dad was a little down yesterday, missing my mom, and she was big on that stuff... But then she also used to enjoy what she spelled "hawt cuisine". He'll enjoy that a great deal.
Still would prefer a micro brew to a cardboardeaux!
i normally only drink wine while waiting for the real booze to show up
i have had a craving of late for a old fashioned bowl of punch.get some nice fruit juices,a bottle of appleton estates spiced rum and mix her up and float slices of lemon on top and chill
I actually really enjoy wine with dinner, but I couldnt ever really seem to enjoy the cheap stuff, myself. Any other time... what crossy said lol
Great, now I have the ro4/4 Rooter ad theme song in my head!
ty ,jilly.was one i needed:)
When it was really hot here, last month, I made quite a bit of sangria... but Ive not tried that. Ty crossy, Ive made a note.
i choose appleton estates because i consider it a fine rum
and it must be the dark spiced
work on about 2 oz of booze to every 8 oz of juice
♫♫ Call Ro4/4 Rooter, that's the name and away go troubles down the drain! ♫♫
Agreed. Cpt morgans or malibu or that stuff lacks depth, imo
less if you do not wish people camping in your living room at end of night
I almost never make large batches of that stuff unless poker and campouts might ensue ^^
moonwolf,i had some appletons other day, have not had any in a while and i swear i could taste the depth and complexity, and i am no wine taster by any means, was so pleasant it was shocking
so,i had three more just to make sure:))
hi all!
Hello uusue!!
Nice! I havent had what i would consider a good deep rum in a long while, really. Usually I just settle for pyrat or meyers dark, down here, in a pinch. The local selection of rum here is abysmal
hi Jill!
Good call. Best to QC when it's needed =D
lo uu!
hi moon woof!
And since jilly started it, I have brian stetzer on the brain after finding ji4
i have had appletons dark spiced i years past and do not remember it being this good.either all that viodka has made me crave something different or they are having a good batch coming off
No comment on Jill being in need of the Ro4 Rooter man.
LOL....It took me to The Bee Gees ♫♫...all your ji4 talking...♫♫
ty!! for ji4! took me forever to find that fish
Either way, good for you! When theyre savory it's worth taking time for it, imo.
Heya molly!
I went with Jump, Ji4, and Wail... it's a better earworm for this mess, to me lol
You can't go wrong with Brian Setzer.
The Bee Gees...we used to refer to them as The Flies
why so? the hair? or something else?
The way they sound.
Well, I always preferred their pre-disco stuff but disco was part of my wild child days...oh to be young again!
brb
*Has a vision of Jill in platform shoes, doing The Hustle*
I think I missed the disco era - was off doing other things, I guess.
I hung out with rock and roll boys who would have disowned me if I expressed an interest in disco.
17..and grinding
ah yes, I can imagine that, molly!
3 left for me but I am listing
totally! I can absolutely see her with big hair and a disco ball!
Ive got 2 left and yea.... grindy. The list helped me catch a cpl of no-brainers I missed tho.
and fireworks!
16..if i can get it under 10,i may list
yaaa for suze!!
the very very tastiest Ive had to date, is sadly no longer available. Was made by a spanish company... and had figs? or maybe nutmeg or something in it that was soooo smooth.
grats uu!
thanks, crossy!
WooT WooT WooT uusue!!
Rum gives me the geebies, but I know some people who really like it.
mmm,nothing like a quality rum
Man, I sure enjoyed the MaiTai's at Kona Inn!!
geebies?
Honestly... cheap crappy rum also gives me the geebies more often than not lol
Ickies, eebie geebies, terrible upchuck like shivers upon taste.
ah
tequilia does that to me
Sadly... Im a Motel 6 kind of girl with Rothchild's taste... but rum is one thing I just really have a hard time skimping on, if I can find a good one
Hilarious, that describes me to a T.
same. One and only time Ive ever been drunk... tequila. And blech. never touching the devil's truth syrup ever again.
Im stuck at 10...10 t's
Tequila also gives me the geebies.
lol@ devils truth syrup
highfive! Its *good* to have taste tho, imo
well, I like tequila if it's part of a margarita, but don't think I'd like to drink it straight
granpa always told me I could be cheap or easy... so Im easy. xD
well, there is cheap, easy or fast, but you can only pick two
srsly! tequila could make the little white haired ladies chase the bus boys across the room chattering about thier perky little butts! Its evil and things just... come out people's mouths!
I'm wallowing through the t's myself india!
that is why you never drink it in the first 2 years of marriage, because when things are that new you are always just two tequilias away from divorce:)
It's all that salt and lemon. People forget they are drinking hard core stuff. And it makes them behave in outlandish ways.
tell the new little woman what you really think of her mom and bingo, yer on the street ;)
the werider t's are psycic cards (misspelled) and the 2 sandstone words
<-----------------!!FW!!
ty,moon woof
yaaa for jilly!!
Oh I dunno about the mixed part being misleading... Ive honestly never seen anyone who drinks tequila who doesnt just blurt those things out. I did as well, but I do that anyway... I was just extra bitchy about it, Ive been told.
grats jilly!
Most of the time, a night of drinking straight liquor of any kind, leads to revelations that cost you dearly.
I know it wasnt mixed when I drank it, and ive seen people who swear by it for not getting hangovers... but they still say that stuff lol
Alcohol Myths 101: Tequila doesn't give you hangovers and people can't smell Vodka on your breath.
Oh agreed. Happily most of the people I live with and around are both honest and straight-forward. There are rarely revelations.
At least, not anything that wouldnt come out anyway. I still swear it's the devil's truth syrup.
actyally that would be sodium pentathol:)
And I agree with that to an extent, as well, molly. But Im sure it also has to do with people's biochemistry, etc. Some of them really are completely functional the next day.
nah. Thats the gvt's truth syrup. The devil about tequila is that its schneaky
woot! fireflies! screw you dh7!
yaaa for moonwolf!!
Yes, biochemical make up is interesting. As in, alcoholics metabolize alcohol completely differently than the rest of us. And other drugs as well. Which is why they need to inform an anesthesiologist that they are an alcoholic before surgery.
tys! putting on my glasses helped a little ^^
Agreed. I find that stuff pretty interesting. Kinda makes me wish Id known it existed 25 years ago
Im awful at math, but being able to learn more about that might have encouraged me, long ago
what changes in meds have you seen that a anesthesiologist would do with an alcoholic? would they increase dosages,or do they worry about breathing/choking issues when under?
because of how alcoholism affects a body they need to modify them lower, usually, iirc. It also changes how thier liver can help get them thru recovery
It's a whole different formula for an anesthesiologist to anesthetize an alcoholic or drug addict, and that has to do with the way those people metabolize.
I dont recall exactly, now, but I asked the same thing when I had shoulder surgery and was asked about my drinking.
interesting
<---Had to look up iirc
sorry! That one I could have told you for sure tho =D
Well, heading out for now...bbl...hagd all
tc,jilly
The rest I recall less about, since we only discussed it briefly. Was interested tho, since I come from a long line of people with issues.
hagd {jilly}
i come from a long line of long lines of people with long lines of issues;))
Still! Your issues only appear to be how adorable you are. Im sure that's difficult enuf and it's best you're not more thoroghly afflicted ^^
i am comfortable with the voices and my own neurosis now:)
Excellent! Best to cuddle with your demons. It keeps them quieter ^^
you can hear voices, you can talk with the voices, but as long as you hold off doing what they tell you,you are fine
that was pretty much what I decided long ago about alcohol. I never needed to go those routes like many in my family seem to have done.
and as far as going crazy? my da always told me to never worry about it,because when it happen, you will not know it..well you may know it if you suddy wake up 8 weeks later standing naked in some town square in asia
suddenly
I figure that's been the one big perk to having the rothchild taste. Budget alone keeps me in line xD
yes, keep it pricy and you moderate yourself
our lcbo has this 40 year old brandy you would love.it is only $1,700.00
Alcoholism and drug addiction are often things people resort to in order to drown out other issues. Best not to complicate things.
Only 1.7? I think the local liqours store's most expenisve item is johny walker black =\
Definately also keeps me in line that most everything they sell anywhere close to here is pretty much awful cheap stuff.
At least, it would if I didnt do that on my own. Even if I wanted to tho, Id pretty much have to resort to mail order or home brewing.
it is crazy the high end stuff our local lcbo carries
i can even get our some real absinthe
you
yea... definately nothing that "high falutin" round here lol
now absinthe will make the ole devil come out;)
but... anise. gech.
nope.do not like the taste
anise is right up there with coffee for me. Just never aquired any taste for it.
People who drink absinthe are like people who eat mushrooms. They enjoy altered states of reality.
Well, "those" mushrooms.
lol
also very possible. I know people like that, but again, they appear to be an aquired taste and one I prefer in moderation.
Happily, we're about to take off for NC, now that Im over whaterver this virus was. Soon I may be closer to civilization.
The phrase "acquired taste" is a joke in AA circles. As in "they told me drinking vodka was an acquired taste. I acquired a taste for a bottle a day." : D
lol nice
hell,i have been drinking vodka so long,i can remember when vodka only came in vodka flavour:)
and both of the brands at the store were long words I couldnt pronounce!
I'm not sure I understand the point of flavored liquor, but then I've never understood the point of mixing it either.
imo, the flavored stuff is pretty much only *for* mixing. I kinda just figured it was like people going over board with mulling experiments gone awry.
a homemade cranberry vodka can be quite tasty... ;o)
I knew it, Pen is a bootlegger.
hah!...my great Uncle Felix was a bootlegger!
bet penquis has some 45% alc/volume dandelion wine hiding in the pantry!
and my cousin owns a restaurant in San Diego called Bootleggers...
hah....i did have some still brewed Russian vodka for a few years....nursed it ....very potent and very smooth....brought it home in an old fashioned 2-liter plastic coke bottle....no one asked me what it was....ah...the old days of traveling!
yes,now you get the search "con signifgance" if they catch you with mouthwash
yes....in those days, they picked an honest looking person in the immigration line, signed your form and off you went...
that was good stuff....*sigh*....
tat reminded me of this:http://tinyurl.com/6k7u7nf i am told people with these even have to carry a doctors card because they are in effect carrying radioactive materials across internation borders when they travel..
ok lunch has arrived! <3 hubby catering. You beautiful people have a great day!
tc,moonwoof
bye!
Must teach Moon how to make a ♥...<3 looks like a butt
Heh heh...
Looks like "less than three" to me ..
i thought she had three husbands lol
But them I'm kind of a nerd ..
It looks like a lot of things. A heart is not one of them. : D
kinda looks like an ice cream cone that someone dropped on the ground...
Tired & emotional, but still gallantly Babbling on.... Hello everybody. :-)
hi, soodle...
((soodles))
i am playing letter lynx....in and out...
i am in and out also have had 15 left for last hour or so
Oh! And, for the record, henceforth my son will be known as Paul. The number of people freaked outbythe 'Son of Soodle' moniker freaked me out. Lol
What is the trouble Soodle?
i kind of liked son of soodle.sounded like a thriller movie\
Look you, Son of ____ was an Irish thing LONG before grade C horror movies. All of us with surnames starting with Mc are not serial killers.
sorry, soodle...meant no offense....
Oh, no trouble at all, Molls. I just hate the 'bye-byes' at the airport. I'll be the finest after a day or two.
*thinking that i read too many thrillers*...
nor i
crossy backs away slowly..
Lol Pen. I don't take offence!!!
i do not understand..lost me
And really, it wasn't even grade C horror movies. Just one mental case in New York (David Berkowitz/Son Of Sam who was a serial killer)
think i will just find more words till i figure out what happened
Mac's, Mc's & O's....... The banshee follows people with those names. (Goes without saying, I was born an O'........
Say what? The banshee follows people with those names? She is one busy wailer.
really? did not know that.not something we would know in north america anyways unless your heratige is such
<---Born an Mc...gives the banshee the evil eye.
Yup! If a person with any of those names dies, the banshee can be heard keening before during & after their death.
think i will just leave it to you ladies:))
Well hell Soodle, I thought the banshee keened for any day-cent Irish person.
Not at all , Molls. She is keening as a tribute, & a support.
Allegedly......... :-)
Oh, now I feel sorry for all the non Mac, Mc and O' people.
as a Melbourne,i do not need any Mc ,Mac or O, for banshees and other beasties to descend upon us;))
my da always referred to our coat of arms as the sign of the s**t house :0
or outhouse
Also...... If you find a comb on the road, whatever you do, do Not pick it up. Forget about the probability of fleas & nits...... The big danger is annoying the banshee who ownedit!
I love Irish folklore. It can swing good or bad. Case in point...the pùca.
Oh,Molls, my paternal Grandad used to scare the bejaysus outta me with stories of the pooka.
But, of all the folklore tales I grew up with, the banshee was the one who terrified me most.
You really need to see Darby O'Gill And The Little People. They do a great take on the banshee and the pùca.
ah....loved that movie!
I was raised on Darby OGil! And The Quiet Man, & my personal favourite.... Ryan's Daughter.
Ah, my mistake. I must have you confused with someone else who has not seen Darby.
And I have always wondered about folklore tales of any kind, told with the sole intent of scaring the crap out of kids.
But, when you think about it, most fairy tales are pretty shittifying, if you'll pardon my language. Wicked stepmothers? Being abandoned in the forest? Disinterested fathers.....
Good grief!!!!! My life is a Fairytale!!!!!
You're right, they are. That is why I qualified my statement with "folklore tales of any kind". The worst, most evil lie in all of them is Prince Charming.
Well, thanks, Molly. Off to bed now, no doubt to be haunted by dreams of banshees, ghosts, ghoulies & whatnot.
*Sprinkles holy water over the Soodle Boudoir*
<------like I wasn't supersticious enough.....
goodnight, soodle...
Aw! Holy water. Yay. An untroubled night for me. Thanks Moll, hun.
May the good saints protect ye And the devil neglect ye!
<---Wonders if "hun" is a UK thing, and why. The short form for honey is "hon". Huns were barbarians. : O
heh heh...
Baltimoreans call people 'hon' -- spellt like that.
evening, yall. :)
Or Baltimorons, the slang version of that word. Hi Seain.
Hi all - yes, certainly have heard "hun" being used in London!
Thanks Liz. I see it here all the time. "Hi hun, how are you?" "Fine hun" "Good hun, glad to hear it".
I have one friend who uses it all the time - annoys the *** out of me!!!
It is over used a LOT.
often heard in the south as well....
Yes, but the southern term is hon, not hun.
yes...hon...not hun....
But then in the US mum is spelt mom!
crossy says "mum"
Crossy's in Canada - not the US (I'll end the geography lesson now!)
I don't get that one either. Mum, by definition, means to keep silent. As in mum's the word.
reallY? how the heck did that happen?? lol
i my house it was man (pronounced in a french way)....short for maman...
let's hear it for the Mums in Canada1
Ah! But we have mummy!
yaa for the mums!
me muvver, me mum.... ;o)
Not the Egyptian kind though - but they're pretty cool too!
Yes, mummy, a corpse wrapped in strips of cloth.
my mama/mom/mother is the usual in my part of US>
yes,and you do not need to buy them mothers day flower
Mums the word
I thought grease was the word.
mums are pretty.
Yes Seain, beautiful flowers.
Bird is a word
Word up.
*waves*
home from 2nd day at work
Hi cos. Looks like you have the easy shift. No nights
huh. i thought pr6.36 was French.
or is this just for training still...
just training. we find out our permanent assignemtn tomorrow morning. all week this week is 8am to 5pm training/prep. normal hours start this sunday
hey all! hey cos -- sounds like you have landed in a good place
hey bugs! are you still here?
I am. Hugs to stidmama
pr6/36 is French, according to the definition.
((bugs hugs)) may I post your pic on my blog? I want to show people where we went... I will use your bugs name. :-)
i did. got my ID badge today and it is an excellent pic of me lol and it says "Howie" and not Howard :-D
hm... 6/36... *thinking*
YAY for HOWIE!!!!!
Oh thank God. Howard would go over like a lead balloon with kids.
you are definately not a Howard
my dad is Howard. I'm Howie :P
nice icon stid
ah, got the pr 6/36
my headstone will say Howie (well it would if I wasnt gonna be cremated)
thanks bugs
we'll just spell "howie" in little pebbles on the beach then, cos -- and sprinkle your ashes artistically around them
actually i like that idea.. thanks! i was trying to decide what to do with my ashes :P
rofl... yw, that's me, stidmama's "everything" service from birth to death... *sigh*
I like that idea too
but instead of on the beach, it'd be in vermont. *nods*
there's lakes in vermont, and lakes have beaches (and leeches)
LOL and mountains, too -- I hear there are a few mountains
yes yes green mountains
i want my ashes scattered on my ex's yard so i can haunt him for the rest of his miserable life :-D
oh dear... why not choose a nicer eternity? flying on the wind like an eagle feather dancing between the mountaintops
you can do that no matter where your ashes are cosdem
lol yeah.. idk.. i'll decide in 30 or so years. i just know i dont wasnt to be buried. they're going to end up moving my coffin if the population growth keeps up
last word please, tr 6
oh yeah theres a grid to do!
pigs eat in a tr*ugh; not a needle, but a *** (no eye)
yes please cos, don't hurry your death!
thanks stid. dumb word but I am done
YAY bugs!
anyone need a clue before I wander off to the laundry. Grandkids coming for a week. . .
oh im not as worried now that i have a retirement plan ready to start lol
30 years seems like a long time -- until it's over. Then it feels like the blink of an eye
my beloved is into shamanism and reincarnation.seems i am to be reincarnated as a wolf
yay bugs!
honestly that was bothering me for a while now.
Scattered ashes become a part of the Earth, and can move about freely, due to rain and run off and such things. As a friend of mine says, your remains do not remain where they are scattered.
oh I know. ashes and a body/coffin is different to me i guess
its psychological i think :)
at least your priorities are in the right order, cos -- I am looking forward to getting a full-time job so I can start earning retirement again. It has been 20 years since I was full-time permanently employed, and so I have very very little saved up.
my earthy remain are to be cremated and put into a decorative hour glass, that way not only can my wife time her 3 minute eggs with me but i will always be on time
anything helps you know? never too early to plan or too late ..
lol cross
there's a first time for everything, eh cross? *silly mama look*
lol ""stidmama""
that was supposed to be hugs
hugs accepted!
big crossy canadian north woods big bear hugs
ooooh. got all the D words!
ah, I guess I am now a smushed mama. Oh well... if I bake and eat enough sugar cookies I should fill out again.
think of me as baloo from the disney animated version of the jungle king and yer cose
These last 11 words are elusive! Grrr!
close
i still have 15 words to go
hey liz!
go cross! go liz!
Hi stid :)
So many people have no retirement money left due to the bad economy. I wonder what will become of them when they can no longer work.
Any clues for the po 5 x2 would be very welcome!
found one!
yeah its scary to think about molly
po5/12 sounds like game of chance to win millions.
hehe
And that'd be the other. Thanks Molly :)
po5/14 ends like seek and ye shall f***
red head and she was a Mc.that says it all:P
what's the po*** of that??....change the last letter to another consonant
great cluers here!
ch5 please?
Glad neither of the words was obvious!

Game of chance clue
<---Ignoring the nasty comment about me
not nasty, just playing, relax molly.i even tried to avoid american comments for you
Down to 5, which is good because the beach is calling!

sorry.i will leave
No Cos, I saw no nasty comments from you. You don't do that.
Fireworks! Enjoy your evenings everyone :)
wtg liz!
Bye Liz
gangsta!
Thanks. Bye for now.
It's one of my new sayings, ok!?
Hope you're all havin' fun here.
I love this game.
Hello to my fellow babblers! How is everybody doing today?
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! Way to go!
I'd say just an inch from super...but that was yesterday.
I'd like a 150 grid for once.
the smaller ones are just BS.
It's been 90 F here for about 5 hours, sunny. Nice
I agree Cos, the small grids are no fun.
Hi Min. Cheers. I had a cold one for National Beer Day. : D
it's too bad one can't play old grids....like from an archive....
I thot it'd be rad if I saw a flag by my name, but I haven't figured out how.
Good for you MollyL! I don't drink beer, but it's a good day for those that do. I'll have a Corona once in a blue moon.
are you a pro-player jerry?
You have to go pro if you want a flag and a profile Jerry81
i am a pro player and i don't have a flag....must have to do with privacy settings?
Phantom words for me today were pooch, porch and torch.
I run, collect coins, and fix mowers. But I still have time for Babble. Not pro. Thanks
prop
ooh, see! back to the puzzle.
ah yes you can turn off flag feature in ur profile
penquis, maybe you don't have a check in the show profile box in your account settings.
That is weird. In your Account Settings, your "Country" generates your flag. But Penquis has United States as her country and no flag.
penquis, goto "my account" and then see if you have a blue check in the show profile box in the upper top right corner
i was not sure what info would be made public if i checked that box...
Ahh that is weird.
You are right Min. Penquis shows up in black print in rankings, which means she has her account settings unchecked for "Show"
So if it is unchecked, that is why your flag does not appear
ok, thanks...
Unless you add details, there is nothing in your profile but your player name, your location and your birth date (which generates your age)
The penquis mystery has been solved. Are there any other mysteries going on in Babbleland that we can solve tonite?
Yeah, but we probably shouldn't talk about them Min. : D
My last word is a mystery, but I'm in no hurry to solve it now
exactly my thoughts :)
