Well, I am off til the flip. Had dental work done again today, so waiting to take another pain tablet to try to sleep...
nearing the end of the dental work Dee?
Both crowns are done. Now they just have to get my bite to a comfortable spot to calm down the TMJ pain... but we are getting there.
My jaws / teeth / joints are really sensitive... still wear a mouthguard at night to help me not grind or grit
will be a blessing to have it finished
Amen to that :)
Sleep well, (((flosey))))
goodnight all, off to bed early tonight
Is anyone here? Iam feeling kind of lonely-lal
I'm here, pug. Had lots of red bars most of the time.
Hello Peach-how nice to hear a voice
I did too for a little bit then it straighten up
Have you had a nice day?
not bad so far--its 330 in the morning here so its just starting--And you?
I got quite a bit of paper work finished, but not much else.....too hot to do anything much outside. Did manage to water flowers.
are you a teacher Peach
No, hon, I'm retired. I don't have enough patience to be a teacher. I kind of feel sorry for them.
Its been hot and muggy here the last few days and suppose to be for a couple more days then we are to have a break. What time is it there where you are
3:33AM. You are on Central time, aren't you?
yes-have the same time as you--Iam in the mid-west of Indiana
Ive been working on putting things from the garden in the freezer and it seems when its that time its always hot and muggy-lol
I would love to have a outdoor kitchen
I thought Indiana was on Central time.....I'm on Eastern.
Yes, that is a good idea......maybe screened in room.
the last couple of years(maybe longer) they started changing our time in the spring and fall
that would be so nice--I might get it if I win the lottery-lal
I have never canned but one day I might give it a try
So, you are on Central Daylight Saving time?
good morning?
hah, you are here!
Hey there, ruby.
Hey Ya Mrs Ruby
How are you today
Yes Peach
My baby girl is having her sterilization surgery today and the vet picked her up on her way to the clinic. I am like a mother whose child is having a tnsilectoy 00 very nervous
whoops, just leasned on the keyboard, sorry
the vet will bring her back too
That's OK, ruby. Just shows how much you love your animals.
Yeah we worry about our four-legged kids! I will say a prayer that all goes well Ruby
I'm a wreck and the boy is wandering around, upset, too
{{little pug}}
thats nice that your vet does that for you
I think mot people who don't have animals don't understand, my son, for one!
The's a wonderful vet, smart and nice, and loves our chows
well I dont have kids and my animals are mine.
My vet died a few years ago and Iam now using a new one.But the prices here are so high that I do alot myself
When I had my horses I had to learn alot on doctoring
vets cost more than people doctors here, but she doesn't charge that much for house visits and used to see Ruby once a month to bring meds and check her failing hert
pls forgive all the typos; I'm pretty shaky this AM
My boxer that I got from the pound 2 years ago is so afraid of the flyswatter I cant get her over it. Ive tried everything I know of.But as soon as you swat a bug shes gone
What if you put the flyswatter on the floor and let her play with it?
your typing dosent bother me at all. Hugs Ruby it will be alright
Ive done that(which she wont have no part of) and Ive petter and scratched her with it but to no avail
I think dogs have very long memories
If you ever hit a chow, he'll NEVER comes near you again
Pug, you can bet that she was abused. I have a hound that would bite any man who came into the house....she would get behind him and bite his shoe or boot. It has taken 3 1/2 years to get her over that. So just give her time and lots and lots of love.
she was 7 month old when I got her and whoever had her as a pup must of really hurt her with one
my first chow, Rosie, hated men with beards and bit the vet who had one
Rufie used to be afrid of newspapers, but he got over it slowly
shes such a loving dog too--I just hate she has such a fear
I dont know how she knows but she will be in a deep sleep and as soon as someone picks up a swatter shes gone oout the door
Dear peeps, I think I'm going to wind down for later in the day. Think you will like the grid.....not too difficult....however I still need 6. But I will do that later. Ruby you and Pug have a great day. See y'all later.
You too Peach --take care
{{peach}}
Ruby how long will your girl be at the vets?
the vet will bring her home this evening after she's finished working for the day. Our house is half way between her office and her house, very lucky
yes you are. Your vet sounds wonderful
I have all mine already done. So I dont have to worry about any of that
Dogs bark at me ... but not as badly as people do ... .
WOOF o-o
Oh isnt that true! Morning OO
Hello

back
good!
I'm making my self French tost for lunch, a true comfort food! We were supposed to go out, but I am too worried to leave Rufie aone as he is pacing around looking for his "sister"
I must sound really crazy, to be so obsessed with my pups
thats nice and I bet Rufie is glad too
not at all to me
he is a very dignified dog but at the same time, very affectionate but only with me
when I went through it--I called to check on their process
we night, he stretches out his full length (which is about the same as me, so that I can cuddle him against my body.
ahh thats nice
My dane likes to do that but I cant take it too long cause her body heat is too much
I'm embarrassed to call them, but I trust the vet to make it as painless as possible as she has known Raffie since the first day she arrived here
you are dne is probably bigger than you are!
what time is the surgery
your dane is probbly bigger than you are* I am too nervous to type correctly
yes she is but its mostly the long legs
thid orning, I think. Vet picked pup up at 8"15
Rufie weigh about 80 lbs but doesn't have long legs. His torso is about the same as mine and if his legs were longer, he'd probably be the same weight
I've only know one dane, but he was a lovely, sweet an gentle dog
If you think she has already been through I would call and just asked how she came through--If she were a child you would check in--so dont feel bad about it at all
I don't like little dogs very much, always afraid i'll step on them
Beulah is just that! She would love to be a lap dog-lol The danes are funny--its like they dont know what to do with those long legs
that is a very cute image. If I get down on the floor, Rufe lies across my knees. TYhe only problem is getting up after....
Ive always had large dogs myself until I got this pug and I love her--If she wasent given to me as a gift I would never had gotten a small dog
I love pugs and dond't think of them as "small" dogs as they are so feisty and have uch big personalities. It would be hard to step on a pug!
I got to say though its nice to have a small dog to hold
isnt that the truth
and Ive always have had male dogs. Now I got all females-lol
I like all the short-snouted dogs: pugs, boxers, chows, even sharpeis
with chows, we try to have one of each. I think two males would be too competitive
Boxers and pitbulls were what I had for several years
(chows are pretty odd)
did you breed chows at one time Ruby
I love the way pitbulls look but only know one who comes to our local resto. Her name is Stephie and she's very fat, very affectionate, but waddles
I had a girlfriend who owned a chow(very loving) but they seem to be a little stand offish(or he did)
No, my husband gave me my first one (before we were married) in 1990, just when I came out of the hosital after my cancer surgery. Rosie was my first-ever dog
They can be really aloof except for Raffie who is all over everybody
what kind of dogs did you have before the chows
Always chows, Raffie is my 7th one
Before Rosie, I thought I was a cat-person. Now cats hate me and bite me if I pet them; I think I'm too accustomed to big, hairy dogs
ahh! do they have a chow rescue center there?
No, we import all of ours. They are much more fancy than either of us. And also, very rare here.
Iam not a cat person--I have had some in the past but I dont have much luck with cats. I do have one in the barn that once belonged to my sister. She is about 15 now
time to make lunch, see you later, sweetie (or sweeties,if o-o is still here)
did you import fro china
okay Ruby enjoy!
1st 5 came from Ontario, the last two came from Italy (Ruffino) and Spain (Rafaella), but they have the same pure bloodlines from the Mi-Po kennel. You could probably find Mi-Pao on Google and their famous ancestor is Johnnie Walker
I think you will find them very beautiful
I bet they are--I will see if I can find it online
are all your chows been black
helloo, anyone here??
*shrug* okay, going to play boggle. byeeee!!
anybody here?
hellow ruby
hello jenny
I am enjoying a few minutes peace after saying goodbye to my daughter and her two nieces who are off on a cruise to Norway for a week.
that would be a lovely cruise! Is it on one of the smaller ships?
no it's a P & O liner, and as my daughter is single, it only cost her £500 more to take both the girls (aged 21 and 19)
She is the best of aunties as she takes them away every year - twice to France, twice to Florida, Grand Canyon and New York as well as seaside holidays in England. I wish I had had an auntie like that!!
what a nice thing to do. I imagine that later on, the girld wouldn't wat to take a Holiday with their mother
pardon my typing I'm a little bit shaky today
their parents are separated and neither one of them is financially able to take them away so Caroline does every year.
I'm so old I haven't any aunties left! Or uncles or parents, for that matter
Nor have I ruby and in fact I am now a great great aunt to twins and that makes me feel really old!!
My husband has 5 grandhildren and to soon three, great-grands, and has no interest in any of them.
I grew up with a million cousins and aunts and uncles but now it's down to a couple of cousins, my sister, her son and family, and my son
two, soon to be three*
oh what a shame, I have 4 grand daughters and one grandson and I've lost count of the nieces and nephews and their children there are so many of them
One of my girlfriends is one of 12: 2 sets of twins and one set of triplets. And one of her daughters had twins
we are all so spread out that it wouldn't make much of a difference
When i fell over recently my eldest grand daughter came from about 6 miles away because she didn't think that my husband and daughter would look after me properly!! so funny really but lovely
that is a nice story
Of all m cousins, I was the only one close to my paternal grandmother which was a blessing
My husband has 4 brothers and all our children both married and unmarried live within walking distance of us and for Christmas we always hire the village hall as at least 25 of us spend it together
that is wonderful; you are truly fortunate!
It's been lovely to talk to you Ruby, but I shall have to poof now and tidy up after the hurricane :-) I have forgotten how much mess two teenagers can make
bye and have a lovely day! It's nap time for me
hello
nbt
wouldn't the singular of rabies be raby? I mean logically? Can you onlyhave one raby and not be that sick?

oops sorry ignore that
i didn't ignore it. thanks.

I would have thought so, but if I set it to "drain" the water goes right out. And then begins to refill again, and out it comes....I had well work done this week, and I am calling the guy this morning

gm, everyone! and thank you for the ca and ga7's

morning Dawger
peri! I just realized....its the pb for you!
Hi, Nono
why, Trif?
you asked for a cl4
bzznbea to pb as well . morning all
so I did, but I did not have that word as yet
ahh- peri again
there you go again Peri with wo4
I'm taking strong Irish coffee with me to the pb...
my goodness. I am on a roll today.
ok, need a babble weigh in....according to our divorce agreement, mr. hate is entitled to 7 uninterrupted days with the kids each summer. he chose this week as his week. Both girls immediately made plans to go away with friends -- and he agreed. does this mean that they are a) so comfortable in their relationships with each other that they don't have to spend the week together or b) so uncomfortable with each other that they are all mutually relieved by this arrangement?
B
ask the girls
Are they teens?
i would say B trif but yes ask the girls, I;m sure they would be honest with you
yes
ditto what nono said
hello all
thanks all
morning, owl
hi TO!
Teens don't want to spend time with any parent.
morning to
hi truf hi nono and doren, has it backwards ;)

crap, taking a break, bbl
i am not a morning owl. :)
good morning everyone
oh lord, me neither. trying to open my eyes. morning annie
gm, annie
hi dw hi annie.
morning Annie
hi Dorens
hi dorens, dawg, Owl, nono, bea
speaking of gentle rains, it is gently raining here now
and hi to Trif
yes, here too. but last night wasn't exactly gentle
hello annie!
help with the fu6?
latin plural
i was amazed when i tried it, dawg. was just playing around
Trif, in answer to your question, I also say B
thanks annie
and yes, trif, altho my knee jerk answer was ask the girls, most likely it's B.. but we don't know what's in their heads as you might
it will go down in history as the "week he had the kids without actually having the kids"
tough situation, trif.
but he does see them at other times, doesn't he?
once a week for about an hour and a half
he wouldn't use it as a reason to get back at you later would he trif?
I don't see how he can, nono - they both asked him if they could go away, and he agreed
Trif, my ex'husband saw my daughter once a week for about an hour and a half too and he missed a lot
the fact that he spends so little time with them on a weekly basis sounds like the less the better for him
yes. I agree. he is missing out. I think that is my issue - I'm projecting how I would feel into it, and the fact is, he is NOT me, doesn't think like me, and never will. I have to stop doing that
and I worry what message it sends the girls, that they were so easily let out of the week.
just worry about you and your kids if you need to worry this
just worry about you and your kids if you need to worry this
but they're probably just relieved... they're teenagers
I agree with Dorens
You can't make people have relationships. As the girls get older, they will build a relationship with their dad on thier needs.
yes. yes they will, and yes, you are all quite correct. thanks friends
exactly what my kids have done (they're in their 30's)
well, about 75% done... finish now or later?
go for it to
gosh, you are a speedy owl today!
it seems to be a rather easy one today
we nearly have the afrian currency today. close.

hello o-o
Hello.... a fast one today
I went to Indianapolis for a cousinly reunion, then to a car museum.
yes, "easy peasy" as sprite says
actually on a short vacation now - in a motel - four day weekend of music festivals
halfway, NBT and NBS
cow shed has been missing for a bit
go teach go
so tickled I saw it
Why does a chicken coop have only two doors? If it had four, it would be a chicken sedan.
That joke was fowl.
lol (kinda)
lol Judi
probably foul too
Yes. That too. :-)
umm, just looked it up.. I saw re6.33, and it is not a cow shed.. but a lively dance
close, lol
the cows do a re6.33 in the shed
I think cows do many things while humans aren't looking.
who knows what goes on in the minds of cows
It's udderly mysterious.
.. the shadow knows
lol Judi.. I need your brand of coffee
Little known fact: The chap who tended the cattle for the royals in Britain was knighted for helping produce such fine creatures.
He is known as "Sir Loin of Beef".
ok, now I've learned another fascinating fact!
Sorry. Can't resist the opportunity of a good pun.

the state dept of labor just issued an order to shut down a local place of business due to a variety of workplace violations, including misclassification of workers as independent contractors, failure to maintain payroll records, and not paying the proper minimum wage or overtime.
this is a tough grid for me
i had been aware that the business had previously been warned/fined over issues of employed undocumented workers. and the article i read, the owner's name is chinese. you would think that that means his family probably hasn't been here that many generations and he would perhaps have more sympathy for the plight of his employees!
geesh.
104 down but starting to struggle
50 and listing :)
that's about the time i listed
2nd row grey!
wd hurshy
it's going much easier with the list!
corners - check! morning all
hints for the A in the corner?
Yeses
canadians say it alot
TY molly. as is my habit -- i find it as soon as i ask for a hint. :)
make that yeses, sir! ;o)
Yes, and that gets spelled "eh" which I have never understood.
eh is an expression - like the americans' huh - the a in the corner means yeses as in yes votes
I always associate the a in the corner with Scottish/Irish yeses.
that too, molly
re 6/33, please?
that sentence is clunky, you should re6/33 it
ey4 is same as ay4 just switch the vowels
vowels.. check
oops - have that one - looking for the first re 6/33
to rewrite one thing...
sorry...that's the second one
ah then i will have to look
re...c***bunga
sorry...re..the color plus c***bungaz
yes, but there needs to be a letter after re
no z on end
no idea what the bunga word is
you have no familiarity with bart simpson?
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles say it all the time. not sure if that helps

the babble little piggy went re re re re all the way home
NBT, NBS, over halfway through the grid, halfway through each tile, and halfway through each stat. methinks it's time for a break. :)
or time to help other people
maybe
always willing to do that. :)
*!* ta da *!* -- missed a lot I should have found, but that's life! (or is it no life?)
i have no 7's
CA7 = jobs
ga 7/56 - talk talk talk
gee that wasn't a hard one
ga 7 = gossip session
that was slightly harder but not too hard
RE7 = when the waiter didnt get you what you wanted, you have to RE7
same for that!
silly hurshy!
just how I felt after I'd listed!
well, i now have 14 left
i suppose i could list
I'm sure you'd find the rest in short order if you do
indeed, i shall.
i have confidence in sunshine
i have confidence in rain
have to run some errands before it gets too hot to be outside -- hagd everyone :)
i have confidence that spring will come again
besides which you see, i have confidence in me
at least when it comes to finding words.
still 52 left here... heh
is there any pain like fishiness?
Raining yet hurshy. I'm in CA
are you asking me if it is raining in new england? i am confused.
Is the rain helping with the fires?
because if you are, the answer is a resounding yes.
No, in CT, hurshy
it is raining up a storm in CT. literally. ha.
so, i think we are talking at cross purposes. fires in the west. rain in the east.
No fires in the Bay Area
and i'm done.

hi all
Molls, are you here?
I only have 8/22 of the 6's

good evening all
Hello, Sprite :-)
hiya zooz :) What a lovely surprise to see you.
Nice to see you too :-)
:D
how was your day, zooz?
afternoon Friends
hiya pug :)
Not bad thanks, Sprite..Nice & warm again today..went with my sister & parents to the seafront..Father stayed in the car as not too wel..but a pleasant day none the less.
Hello, Puglet.
How was your day, Sprite?
sounds good, zooz. Sorry your father didn't feel so well. But glad he could come with you.
Yes even when it was close to 90F outside he still feels cold..bless him.
pretty intense, pug, Friday is always a full day of therapy for me. Am rather tired. But happy to be here :)
Ive been putting tomatoes up in the freezer---I so wish I had a outdoor kitchen-lal
Glad you are ok though, Spritey *Hugs*
*hugs right back* Thanks zooz :)
do you mind me asking what kind of therapy
lol pug... yeah, hot and humid job, that.
It is a combination of therapy for the body and for the mind (ptsd).
does it help
yes. Teaches me lots of skills that help me manage my handicaps and ptsd.
Zoom thats nice to spend a day with your family.Sad that your father is under the weather
will your father feel better anytime soon, zooz? Or is this more of a permanent issue?
Sprite Iam sorry but I dont know what ptsd stands for
post traumatic stress disorder
Yes i enjoy my time with the family..he has been under the weather for a few years now..we think something more serious is going on with him.but he does not want to know.
aw poor man. *hugs* for you, zooz, and healing vibes to your dad.
Sprite is that a type of depression
How old is your father Zoom if its okay to ask
Yes, sprite. He has massive hernias his throst closes up when he tries to eat..he has very sore eyes which doctors say is dry eyes..but every cream or drops do not help.plus other complications too many to go into.
no, but depression is part of it, pug. It is a whole syndrome of hyper-alertness, depression, panic, and much more.
Step father..he is 82...i think..gosh i can't remember now..how aweful is that.
oh dear, zooz... am so sorry for him.
Zoom has he lost the will to live? I know thats not pleasent to think about--but sometimes the elderly does
Oh poor Sprite(((hugs))) must be awful to live with.Have you had this long
haha no..he is a fighter alright...he does have days where he is not too happy..but on the whole he just gets on with it.
yeah it stinks, pug. Have had it almost my whole life. It started in childhood... childhood was kind of a warzone for me.
I know men can be stubborn about going to doctors or admitting they have problems too much for them to handle
Depression is just horrible..would not wish it on my worst enemy. I sort of know how you feel, Sprite.
One of my sisters went through cronic depression and it was an awful time for her family and us too
I know you do, zooz. Been there, done that, right? So glad you are feeling a bit lighter nowadays.
that is awful, pug. Did she get out of it eventually?
Hi All
hi hego :)
So sorry to hear this news, dear Sprite.
Yeah i am not to bad now..although i still have the panic attacks & hyper alertness which i really struggle with.
somewhat Sprite--she no longer tries to take her life
Hello, Hego :-)
Hi Hego
Hi Zooz and Pug
aw sweethearts, it is old news. Have lived with it all my life and am finally getting some results in therapy. All going in the right direction now.
I have gone through some of that also, still do.
Hugs to you too Zoom--depression can be a very dark hole
Which is really nice to hear, Sprite.
oh pug... that is a sad thing. I mean, great she doesn't try to commit suicide anymore, but sad that that is the best that can be said atm. Will try and send her little rays of sunshine.
I think Zooz is doing better now, at least I hope so.
Hego, I feel it is a lot more common than people realise.
I have too but with the higher power I was able to pull myself out of it
am sorry to hear that, hego. It is a tough battle all the way.
I agree Zooz
phone
Still at least we have babble :-)
babble is a life saver at times :)
Ditto to that, Spritey!
It really is and there are so many that tosses you a ring to cling too
absolutely. A lot of babblers really care and that makes a lot of difference.
Hi
Stuff the ring..i am getting into the boat :-)
hi bichon :)
Hello, Bichon!
True, Babble a heart warming place to come to
*giggles* We'll make it a cruise, zooz.
No matter where we are in this world we all seem to have the same things to deal with all in all in life
amen to that, bichon
Hi ya Bichon
Hi pug, sprite, zooz
Alas i am going to eat my evening meal..take care,al...wil be back later to find my last 12

ah good... mentally we can always use another vacation, can't we
hi hego
and then have some by talk
Perhaps a permanent one
glad she is back home safely, ruby.
She has the same skin problem that Rufie had last summer and that seems to be bothering her much more than the surgery
oh yeah, a permanent one would be nice :)
hugs Ruby glad all went well and your worries are over
Believe it or not, she weighs 22 kg!
did that help hego?
omg ruby!

bye-take care
I may have to separate the dogs if Rufe doesnt leave her alone
have you ever had this problem, bichon?
or you,pug?
whats he doing
licking her all over and puttig his egs around her. He really missed her all day, was wandering around like a lost soul
she might be confusing him cause she will have a different smell plus the old smell too
that might be it, pug
I would say separate them for now, ruby, and let your girl recover from her ordeal.
I don't think he'll hurt her but I can't bear to wtch
can you put a gate between them(one that they can see and smell through to give her a little time to mend
I thought she'd be sleepy but she's not
If you can phone your vet to get his say on it then I would
You dont want her to pull out her stitches
does she have a cone ruby?
good night everybody, see you tomorrow
night ruby
*woof*
Poor Ruby she worries herself too much
I worry about my two little ones, but if I do it publicly, then I see more neurotic than I am
I guess we all worry about our dear ones.
are you talking about kids or pets Bichon
If they don't eat, I worry that they're going to starve. And I was the same way with my children
My two little boys are marco and Polo. Other boy is 40.
we are mothers. we worry. Goes with the territory.
fireflies!
Ive learnt not to judge someone elses worries. For what maynot seem all that important to me is to them
While I'm in Ca visiting grandkids, they are with my daughter. i call her every day for an update
w2g Sprite
Woot sprite

I'm not very good
oh no! we all make typos, i don't bother correcting them unless it is neccesary to make the meaning (of clue) understood
matters not, if you are good or not.. one finger typing still gets the job done.. no style points here ;)
i must go now, happy babbling D
Just got a minute...quick hi and {{hugs}} everyone :)

And off to the PB with Bich
nadal's sister is in the grid
*Hasn't a cl4*
Ca4/5?
the last one is a man's name
Oh, I thought Tor was answering Ru's question about Nadal's sister.
perhaps he was....
I was guessing that .. Either Fredo or Ca4/5 ..
ah...sorry...
Freda perhaps....
Internet research says the sister is Maria Isabel, so I am stumped. Unless it's a nickname.
or he made it up... ;o)
And we are left to wonder...
Gaby? Feodor? Wyat?
Garlu? Orsa? Darwee?
Rafta
*figures everyone is dying from laughter on that one*
I can hardly catch my breath
i am also....speechless...
Thought so
You've still got it, Ru
yes, but what is it that he's got??... ;o)
good afternoon, Everybody. How are you all today on this beautiful day?
hi nef...
hi pen. I'm just starting the grid now; first one I've had time to do all week. (I hope it isn't miserable or too hard...)
it was fine for me....
Thanks! That's very encouraging! :-)
yw...
first time through grid too 10 minutes, 22 words and awee
well 12 minutes in and off to the PB already!
heh heh...
if you scroll down the chat, you will get a freebie...
someone is already in the PB with me? (Looks pretty empty so far....)
I see a note on the desk from bichon; she took the choclits and ran off to the pool with them!
And the cabana boys went with her! (I can't see where she is though; and the pool is missing too!
ah...there is always action in the PB....
not much right now; no Bichon, no choclits, no pool, no cabana boys.... I'll have to do something about that. ;-)
Did you finish already penquis?
yes
Congratulations! WTG!
ty
fred
not a word (to anyone lurking)
heh heh...
After not playing much I seem to put things in the wrong box a lot: chat in the word box and words in the chog. Not a good plan...
understandable..
35 minutes in; NBT, NBS, and 75 words found. But it's getting harder to see words now (maybe time for coffee or something to eat would help?)
hey Nef
hey all
worth starting?
hi
yes
hey stud! How are you? I'm doing pretty good on this one so far; you should breeze right through it. :-)
errr, STID; (not stud)
thanks, will start while watching The Avengers (again) with Grant.
thanks, will start while watching The Avengers (again) with Grant.
sorry for the double entry... too much coffee when meeting with the contractor this morning. LOVE these guys. I get frustrated, they get frustrated, but we can talk and work things out and it is good. My kitchen will be AMAZING!!!!
Woo Hoo Stid! That sounds great!
(How big will it be?)
the kitchen is approximately 17 x 12 feet, open along one long side to the dining space which is open to the living room/entry...
17 feet of counter space (less the stovetop) along the long wall, 8-12 feet of counter on the window wall... and an island (eventually, when we can afford it) that adds another 25 square feet...
*drags self in the chat*
COS!!!! (((hugs))) was talking about you earlier :-) how are you?
Oh, WOW, stid! That's HUGE and wonderful!!!
hi cos. How's the new job going?
I have my first cold in 4 years and I havent even worked iwth the kids yet
tomorrow is day of rest, sunday i have to work overtime for 5 hours to meet parents...
stress, maybe? (and going through orientation?
all tiring...
yes im thinking stress, not used to the early hours this week etc etc..
sunday I dont have to work til 4pm and on Monday my normal hours begin (3pm-midnight) so it'll be better.
sorry about the cold -- you'll probably have a lot of viral spells the first few months. WASH YOUR HANDS every time you turn around. Keep a little hand sanitizer thingy in your pocket and use it frequently. Of course, don't touch your face if you can help it... LOL
definitely REST tomorrow then cos. I think that hot honey lemon tea and chicken soup are wonderful for colds.
Vitamin C can be helpful sometimes, but mostly sleep, taking care of your health is essential.
Oh good idea. I'll run to the store in a bit and get soup and vit c
oh -- and even if you thrive on coffee and sugar, I recommend trying to NOT drink it very often. Partly so it works when you really need it, and partly because I have found that when I drink a lot of sugary coffee I get sick more often.
wow NBT and only up to 46 so far.
Alright. I'll stick to clear fluids when at work then. Which is going to be like all te time now :P
re: those hand sanitizer bottles: be sure and wash your hands every so often with soap and water too. Some people depend on them so much they forget that soap and water hand washings help get rid of the bacteria too.
:-D I have a monster mug (holds about a liter) that I put tea in, cos -- when I have a cold I add some lemon to the tea and honey and it keeps me going on long days teaching.
lol I have like 100 of these bottles in my office. my boss gave them to me. ive been using them and water/soap frequently
I think I have one of these mugs. I'll look for it tomorrow.
(Yes I have my own office!)
oooh. own office! :-D
really, stud? I never liked sugar in coffee, but we recommend that people shouldn't drink much caffeine when they're sick because the caffeine can dehydrate you too.
If they don't discourage it, and didn't already suggest it, a few pics of your home/pets can be a way for kids to connect with you.
The kids go to bed at 830. So I get to sit in my office every night for almost 4 hours making sure they stay in bed :P
How do you hear them sneaking out?
*groan* really nef? LOL He uses the eyes in the back of his head, which come standard with all teaching/helping jobs...
lol they never sneak out theyre like 8.
besides theyd have to walk past my office to get to the door to leave the building
they won't try to sneak out, cos -- but when they are sick or scared, they will be out of bed...
True, stud; but I'm sure if the kids should be in bed at 8:30, they can try to sneak out too.
the weird thing about parenting was how often those little guys decided to wake up JUST as I was starting to relax!
ARGG! Sorry stId!
*wondering who stud was*...
Not all kids really have the same sleep schedule, some need more sleep, others less -- and their personal sleep clocks might be off by an hour from the "average" kid... just fyi. :-)
nbt
That's the part that always got to me; just when I thought I could relax and enjoy a good book; that's when our kids would get up again.
LOL I knew who you meant, Nef -- it's such a common ty-op that I automatically translate these days
go cos go!
oops. Time to shove more pain meds down Grant's throat... brb
What's wrong with Grant?
Cos, how many kids will you have to worry about?
wisdom teeth pulled on Monday. He's actually coping okay with OTC today. MUCH better experience compared to December when 5 days after was only the beginning of the worst pain.
oh, yuk! A friends' daughter had hers pulled this week and she's been a real drama queen through it all. Her mom is a night nurse and the girl (late teens) carried on so bad that my friend had to call in and not work for 3 nights.
Grant is a wonderful patient; almost too good. He rarely complains, and when he does I really pay attention... I had to really underscore how important it is to stay ahead on the meds so it never got horrible before taking more.
that's good, stud. I always told my patients that we wanted to keep the pain level at a 3/10 or less
I think he's only reached 4-5 in the morning when he hasn't had anything for 8 hours. I have been waking him up just to give him something before the pain is enough to wake him.
He's an awfully sound sleeper... and a night owl. Cos, if you're still there, Grant was one of the ones who naturally would stay awake until around 10 or so even as a little guy. His brother on the other hand, until he was a teenager could happily fall asleep at 7 and still wakes by 8 in the morning no matter how late he stays up.
(here's my pain scale: 1-3 =pain you can be distracted from (like a headache you forget about when you're busy) 3-6 + pain you can't be distracted from: you know it's there but you can eat, watch TV talk & visit 7-10 = Shut up; GO Away; Give me drugs! (pain that's so bad you can't eat, visit, watch TV or anything else).
Good pain scale, will share with Grant... (he has found some computer games that are great for distracting him this week)
If his pain level is just 4-5, you're doing a good job, stid.
BRB
He responds that he thinks mostly he has been around a 2. I have been doing for him what I learned to do for myself: staggering the medications so he is never below a single-pill dose of either tylenol or advil, and usually has a "maximum" dose (or close to it) on board.
ooooooh. I found the fu 5 by myself!
oh, fu 6... *sigh* figners
yea!
and now past halfway!
:-D
WYW, stid!
I had to go say goodbye to DH and son; they are off to a sports bar for the pre-season football game. DIL and grandson left for the weekend (going to her Mom's) I have the HOUSE TO MYSELF!!!
(and now that I'm reaing my previous note; I meant YAY, stud!!
oh what fun!!!! And now you are babbling instead of enjoying yourself... LOL
I AM enjoying myself by Babbling, stud. I haven't been able to play all week tip today
wow -- that's hard to not be able to babble, Nef -- I am frequently not babbling by choice, trying to force myself to get to tasks... which reminds me. I need to email our plumber about a couple of things. Back in a few.
Nef has the house to herself?? *Faints*
Doesn't happen often enough; I can't remember when the last time was....

yw...
Well you are smarter than I am Shirl. I had no idea about the seesaw thing.
sorry...it's the first thing i thought of...
not at all molly, brain is full of trivia
No need to be sorry, I just don't hear that word very often.
Just fixed some left over (home made by our son) pho soup, and settling back in to Babble; watching Science Channel. Pure Bliss! :-)
pho soup/
yes. It's an Asian (Hmong, maybe?) soup that's very hot broth and rice noodles, and you add your own choice of fresh veggies and herbs to it.
ah...
Then you can add Hoisen sauce and/or sriracha (very Hot!) sauce to it
sounds good!
They serve it with the fresh veggies, a huge basil stem, and the sauces are bough to your table.
cool...
sorry, brought to your table and you add your own (also a good sized slice of lime). It actually is served ineither a quart pro 1 1/2 qt. bowl in the restaurants here (and it's wonderful if you have a cold too)
(eating doesn't seem to fix typos though)
evening all! so ga7 is a word but not fe4. Le sigh
I know. Don't you hate that?
I don't think there
has been a grid with fe4 in it where I have NOT tried it
Evening all.
hi
me either. Considering we have a fall fe4 at our church and other places here every year.
May I please have a clue for se5-18 the 1st? Thanks
hi peach!
How are you doing pen?
se + *** your boat....
Hey there, Nef. Was just reading about the soup. Sounds very yummy.
It is good. :-)
Thanks much, Nef.
fine, thanks...you?
yw
(pho is Vietnamese... key ingredients in the broth are star anise and fish sauce (nuoc mam))
and hello again
thanks, stud; I didn't know that. But it is delicious!
OK, except for the headache that, I think is caused by the heat and humidity.....try not to complain.....most of my friends are in the same boat.
well, if you ever want to make it, there are lots of great recipes online. :-)
We have a huge Hmong population here; that's why I thought it was their s
oh gee peach, sorry about the headache. We are looking thundery in the next couple of days, so I figure I will get hammered later....
stid; my son made this last night. I'm eating the left overs.
Hi all :)
Do you have headaches often, stiddie?
Hey there, Lizlin.
hey liz!
mmm. leftover pho! LOVE IT!
Hi Peach - sorry you're not feeling too well.
hi Lizlin
Peach - I've posted some new whale pics following our morning whale watching on Wednesday!
It was an awesome morning - one of the best.
I have migraines, peach, with multiple triggers. They have been much fewer and much milder since the housefire, not sure if there was something in the house that was predisposing me to them, or whether it was the teaching (around all those chemicals people use) ... either way, it has been nice to have a more normal head for a few months.
Thanks, Liz. The headaches are much worse in hot weather, for me. I didn't have them this often when I lived in CT.
Heat and humidity can really have a bad effect on how you feel.
Beautiful pics, Liz.
At one point, the whale lifted its head out of the water and I could almost have kissed it!!!
I get headaches from the weather too; but it's more the humidity than the heat for me.
Thanks Nef :)
wow, liz, what a GREAT experience!!!
Oh, bless you stiddie. I used to have them for weeks at a time. Was on a plane once and barfed for a bit....so embarassing....but couldn't help it. I remember the pilot saying " Ladies and gentlemen we are now over Lake Charles Louisiana".....I used to feel much better after getting my stomach emptied. LOL
One of the best, Stid :)
yikes, peach -- well, "better out than in" as Shrek says...
Coming back from Canada last week, my hubby fainted in the washroom! Again a case of better out than in!!!!
oh oh, Liz!
Oh dear! I hope someone was with him keeping him safe!
okay, about time for me to go water a friend's plants. Will be back later tonight for some of my last 65. We'll have chicken soup tonight... *fades out slowly after hiding choclits in the PB*
He thinks it was something to do with the airline food! Have a good evening stid
Just looked at your awesome photos. How thrilling!
You got some great shots.....a good photographer, you are.
Thanks - I wish you could all come out and share the experience. Going again on Monday morning.
So your husband is alright now?
How far away is it from you Liz?
Yes - he's fine and was fine immediately afterwards.
Good.
We live about 12 km from the coast - and on this occasion I guess we were about 4 miles from shore - quite close in, though sometimes they're much closer and others much further..
Gosh I've missed so many plurals!
hi all!
hi UU, hi everyone
what I've missed a lot of is past tenses.
hi lbd!
Hi there, lbdawger and sue.
hi peach!
hi Peach!
brb
bye peach....
ha, just started listing, I guess I am missing a bunch of plurals too
I have come to the conclusion that I am just door opener for the dogs! One will come begging to go out and when I get there, she looks at me like I'm out of my mind......perhaps I am. LOL
haha, peach, if my dogs were let out on their own I'd probably be in the same boat
'evening, folks
Hey there, welki.
hi welki!
Welki, Liz has some awesome photos of whales on her profile, thought you might like to see them.
thanks - will look now :)
holy moly!! they were CLOSE!! and one looks like an orca!
Great, aren't they?
*goes to look at Liz's profile*
they're amazing - and so close to shore
Liz, those are great pictures!! hi welki
hey neighbor :)
WOW!!!!!
were they taken in oz or when she was here in canada?
nbt nbs finally
the other thing I have been missing about words in this grid, besides the plurals and the past tenses, is the superlative ending

wtg, sue :)
Is Liz still here?
maybe not, but i'd bet her ears are ringing :)
Well, I have 4 left....guess I'll have to beg for them.

what you do when you run out of ink for your printer (you re*****) it
Thanks much, welki and sue.

i have fancy schmancy printers at work - i prefer the cheap on sale ones
se5-18 the 2nd please....that is the last one...thanks
haha, I am thinking of doing exactly that, welki, especially as I just wasted $100 on cartridges that my printer refuses to recognize since they are remanufactured
se + *** your boat

<-- what sue said
Thanks so much, sue. I do appreciate all the help.
yw :-)
I have an idea for Lizlin's pictures. They would make such wonderful presents.....she's quite the photographer..... my son-in-law is a photographer and he gives his photos as presents. And he isn't as good as she is. (I'll be her manager) LOL.

latin plural of the thing a lever pivots on
Hi again - thanks for the lovely comments about my whale shots - embarrassed now!
Sue, I didn't know a thing about it until someone here started talking about it. Now, I'm hooked. The work is done so well and the story is spellbinding. It is on the Twitter or Facebook sites. The fourth season will come out in January. Think you might like it too.
where did you take them, liz?
On the Gold Coast last Wednesday.
fantastic, liz! I want to go there!!!
Oh, please, don't be embarrassed, Liz. You have a wonderful talent and people would so enjoy seeing your work.
Though we did see bubble net feeding in Alaska and orcas on a whale watching trip from Victoria.
peach, I'm sure I would, we are just finishing Game of Thrones (the TV series, I've read the books)
Gold Coast is great for whale watching - especially in August - it's mid-season and there are now whales swimming both north and south.
Loved Game of Thrones - have seen all 3 series and have just completed the next book.
Oh, sue, I didn't know about Game of Thrones. Which channel is it on, please?
HBO, peach, my son bought the first two seasons on DVD and then pirated the third (I didn't say that, of course...)
It's on Showcase here - don't know about in the US.
I will definitely check into it.
That's right HBO!
I love the title sequence of the programme.
Music and graphics.
I bought the first four books as a set from Amazon for $16 just last week; I'd borrowed them the first time (my son has the 5th in hardcover)
I'm afraid I downloaded them and am reading them on my iPad!
Legally bought of course!
I wish I knew more about the computer than I do. Most of my friends do lots of keen things with theirs.
