hello all -- it 's been a busy day
hi jilli
Hello Jilli
Congrats to the finishers, and hugs to rose!
ty, jili
I had a LAZY day
Our open house for our friends' son and new wife went great here - about 50 people... body is wiped out, but really glad we did it.
wow..that's a lot of folks dee
It was... not sure I would do it again.
I've fed 50+ before.. and I'll never do it again
Put out food upstairs in dining room buffet style, so older folks didn't have to go downstairs... then set up munchies in basement and tables with games for the 20 and 30 year olds.
I bet you are wiped out Dee but glad all went well for you
I kept food pretty simple, thank goodness.
it's a lot dee. you should take it easy tomorrow
ty, pug... pain pill isn't even working yet ... back, knees ... pretty achey
didnt you have any help
Hopefully, going to laze around. Hubby is taking me, our daughter and son-in-law out to dinner. Hubby was a good help, pug, and daughter and son-in-law helped with clean up... was SOOOO thankful for the extra hands.
sorry, SIL here, picking up house key. she is going to be running around after MIL whilst i am hospitalised.
Dee that was an amazingly kind thing to do. That young couple's wedding will be even more special, with life long memories
thats a bonus Rose!
They were married on the 13th, so it was sweet to do this as an after party for folks who couldn't make it from Indiana to TX. They are the cutest.
Glad that is off your plate, rose.
aww, gentle hugs for dee. i completely understand the aches you are having, hun.
good, so at least she is out of your hair - you can heal in peaceful quiet
Ditto what flosey said.
Rose, think MIL's obstruction is a blessing in disguise maybe? SIL will have to take on her care
*giggle* flosey...hoping so, hun
exactly, chrissie
Well, I am off til the flip. Rest well and have a good day, babble friends. Hugs to all!
night, sweetie. hope you rest well, dee

hey ya liz and joso
liz, i wish she didn't have to suffer so mu4..
hi rose, pugs, liz, peach, lurkers, and all the ships at sea
Hail Sir Joso! How goes there
Hey there, joso.
life is very repetitive at the moment, pack pack, find more stuff, pack pack....
sounds like alot of packing, alot of boxes and alot of work
poor joso, you forgot, pack, throw out, pack, throw out, dear
bbl, dinner ready...xoxox
THROW OUT.. AKKK, SPLUUT, GAAAA.....
enjoy Rose, see you in a bit
are you a hoarder Joso
enjoy dinner rose
are you moving, joso?
not quite, don't have piles of newspapers or the need to keep broken things, or a dark corner where small wildlife breed
yes jilly, to a spot a few blocks away, from a house to a large bachelor apt
hmm -- downsizing, eh?
more like cramming,
I figure I have enough room for the bookshelves, but no room left to hang the art
I guess you wont have to be down in a basement anymore either
hehehe, it is a basement apt
not even in the bathroom?
I'll be in the basement all the time
ok, couple of small pieces in the bath
I would like that instead of up stairs, I think
I don't mind basements, if they are dry
are you planning on staying there or just until you find a bigger house
going to stay
unless I find it just too cramped
sounds as if that's happening already!
nbt (I know, very small achievement)
oh, nbs too
I think I will have enough space to do most of what I want
and the trouble of moving is a great inducement not to
and what do you want to do?
can you rent storage there
does anyone have a clue for the ct7?
have access to my books and games, a spot for my desk, a table for gaming, comfy living area, bed
don't all speak at once, lol!
kitchen?
I dont have it Jilli
sorry, don't have it yet
ok, off to morewords...
thats built in, but unobstructed access to it too
It was clued earlier but I couldnt get it
c+number after nine av*** some you don't like
that should read av*** someone or something you don't like
anyone want a clue now?
tnx jenny

how are you doing with the grid?
did you get to go to service today----down to 49
tomorrow, dear, tomorrow is sunday. church in 13 1/2 hours. at 9:30 am
nice work, pugs. anything i can help you with?
sorry--I get messed up on time now and then
the st 6/27 and I will have that whole row blacked out
st6, plural of st5, st + *** maria, prayer said in church if you are roman catholic
got it thanks
I thought I already had that plural-lol
yay you, pugs
you taking you something to read with you
am taking books, sudoku puzzles and will have laptop on 2nd day post-op.
thats about all you need then-lol
don is going to log in about 3-4am your time, and let you all know what has happened.
no hidden bottles
great! give him thanks
pugs, and don...i need don....last time i was so miserable because we were apart.
Can he stay overnight with you there
no, hun. only if i was under 18... :-(
awww thats too bad
I know you will be in all of our minds but thats not like having someone there holding your hand
I ran into my sister's husband(hes a mail carrier in a town near me and sister is Gradyn's grandmother. The one who hasent spoken to me for about 3 years now) I asked him if she was still mad at me and he said he told her to call me(which she hasent) and told me to give her a call. And I said if anything I would go to her home but he said to just call. I like being face to face. But as I think more about it I dont feel like doing that just yet. Maybe I should but its a two way street I feel like.
all true, pugs. but a phone call keeps both of you in your own territory, and thus comforting you both. if you must see her face to face, male it on neutral territory..like a cafe or park.
*make*
I figure God will put us meeting somewhere or someplace when its time. And in my heart I just dont feel its the time yet
and that is okay, pugs. how you feel is quite correct...
the worse of it is she wont have anything to do with the other family members and I feel a bit bad about that, yet its her choice not mine
pugs, dear. you must respect her wishes...you will know when it is time to step up the pace.
sounds good pug, you can force these things a bit if you are near ready, but you can't fake it entirely
the six of us girls use to be so close but now its like we are almost strangers
rose, be careful what you wish for, if you were under 18, don would be in jail (and probably not the type of guy you'd want to be with anyway)
lolol....well some of my hair is under 18....alas the rest of me is, well, used a tad.
well experienced has it's advantages
Where is our Sprite? Wonder if her daughter had to be put in hospital
hmmmmm, pugs....i do so hope all is well with her.
besides it doesn't matter if you think you are man bate or not, don does, don't talk him out of it
Me too
*chuckling* if you only knew....i am soooo don bait...lol
is it a therapy day, she is not here at these times on therapy days
no that was yesterday
ah, yes, therapy day fridays.
thursday??? pugs??
am I screwed up on time again
its 4am saturday here
for her it is something like 8 am saturday now, sleeping in?
it's friday for sprite...i think....now i don't know either...waaahhh
lol! I had to look myself to make sure it was saturday
nope, evening for you is morning for her on the same day, morning for you is evening for her previous day
flip is at 1am for me here
thats a big help Joso-lol
okay, so it's saturday morning for sprite...hope she's having a lovely snooze.
me too, add about 5 hours to our time, or 4 hours to babble time for sprite time
inother words she is 12 hours or so behind me
but it all shifts by an hour with various daylight savings plans
I always think of Rose ending her day as Iam just starting mine
I think more like 10 hours off your time, but eve to morn and vica versa is a good rule of thumb for you
Is crossy on the same time as you Joso
yes, he is due north of me so not time zone shift
I had it all figured out exactly once, but then daylight saving hit and screwed it all up, now I just think in generalities
its hard to keep them all straight
rose and liz are a half day++ ahead of us, sprite a quarter day- ahead
rose and liz a half day-- ahead of sprite
rose and liz can be offset by an hour because Australia has whack-a-doodle daylight saving schemes
I seem to have bored the chog to sleep
hey, who you calling whack-a-doodle??
no, Iam trying to find some words
oz time keepers, who obviously go to work via the yellow brick road and answer to a wizard
*giggle*
I dont understand how babble does points on some words--like di5/12 if you add the tiles it only adds up to 6 and it makes it hard for me to find some words
pugs, 4 letter words, tile value only, 5 letter words double tile value, 6 letter words, 3 times the tile value..etc
4 letter words are multiplied by 1, 5 letter words are multiplied by 2, 6 letter words are multiplied by 3, etc
so di5-12 will have 6 basic points before multiplying, 4 1's and a 2
okay thanks guys
so, pugs if a 5 letter word is worth 12 points, that means one of the tiles has a value of 2, the reat only one point
*rest*
alright, I got it now
that will sure help out along the way
I forgot to thank you for the fitness dude clue earlier pug... thx
and are the 7-13 3x's too or more
yrw but I got the clue from someone earlier
7's are 4x, 8's 5x, ..... 25 letter words are 22 times
now Joso it only goes to 13
and I got it all now--ths
no, 13 is the biggest so far, but it is possible to get a 25 letter word sometime
and you have seen that?
I dont even know a 25 letter word unless its some medical term
no, but there are words that big, and the grid has 25 letters
that would be like a April Fools day grid
..especially when all the letters have to connect, what would be the odds. Hello all
Hello Lyn--been awhile, how are you
immunoelectrophoretically
g'day lyn
p[retty good...and you Pug
hi Rose
Iam fine here
and what is the meaning of that word Joso
Beautiful picture and sentiment lynxxx
electrophoretic separation of proteins followed by identification by the formation of precipitates through specific immunologic reactions
Morning OO and ty
Hello
hi Chrissie
overintellectualizational
hi o-o lynxxx
these words are just coming out of the top of your head Joso? Thought you said you were short on words and word gaming
looking them up, and the last one seemed apropos to the conversation
I have a good vocabulary, but not that good, lol
thats not too fair to OO cause he has to explain them to us who are less knowledged
nah .. I just use a dictionary.
my problem with word games is my lack of spelling ability
that is mine as well but I still like doing them. Dont much care for word search or crossword puzzles though
ct 7/36 is new to me
I like Morewords - just found me the ct7.36!
snap
well I'm heading off to bed, g'nite/day all, happy babbling
night Joso
sleep tight Joso
and I heading out - bye all
bye Lyn
night joso...and night lyn. hope you both have good ones
need to get meds and perhaps bed. better be better than last night, was awake until 3:30am.*sigh * ah, well. goodnight all. be well.
good night Rose, hope you get some rest--hugs
Time for me to part ways too---take care OO, if still here
good morning all :)
Hello, sprite. Quiet prevails.
hi o-o! Am happy to see you. I hope your day is comfortably progressing?
As always, days come; days go.
so they do. Some are worse than others though. Looks like another tricky grid today.
Only new word for me was a ct 7/36
*grin* only in babble do we find ct and pt and j-whatwasit starts for words
there is a dj word ... not about hosting a radio show
oh yeah, that was it, dj something. Took me ages to find that one. A ct7 sounds interesting.
another that likely will never pass my lips in casual conversation
*grin* nor mine
Imagine... girl talk and then saying "You wouldn't believe how ct7 my hands are feeling today! Quick, hand me the hand cream!"
I suppose not beyond the realm of possibility at Oxford
hm, you have a point there. Ok, consider it added to my inner dictionary for you-never-know.
oh I remember... a word that starts with jn. That is the one that took me ages recently.
jnana
yes, that is the one. Very weird word for me.
and the jungle cutting tool is a phantom today :(
Words are aids to communication. So many of these words do not serve that purpose.
*sings* It's only words.... and words are all I have...
“Words are like nets - we hope they'll cover what we mean, but we know they can't possibly hold that much joy, or grief, or wonder.†― Jodi Picoult, Change of Heart
good one. I like feeling my way and trying to find just the right words to give the other a sense of what I wanted to express
Yes. Employing the right words still is no guaranty that another will understand exactly what you intended to express. There are studies that confirm what both say they understand is not coincidental.
too true. It is a funny thought that usually, when we communicate, words are the least of what we use to express ourselves, and here in chat are almost all we can go by.
fireflies. Not as tough as yesterday's, but still interesting. I wish you a blessed day and a peaceful night, o-o. Thanks for the chat and your company *hug*
Be well

Hello
halfway, NBT and NBS - time to get the turkey ready for the oven - having big dinner this afternoon
from my date of birth to today is 23,891 days.
65 years, 3 nearly 4 months
'morning, babblers
morning welki
hi welk
Hi kids.
62, nbt and nbs, lurking but now there's stomping upstairs
bah
humbug
A dog or the husband?
howdy again my friends
Crossy, how is your mouth feeling?
hey crossy
very sore, scrabby, they have me on clindamycin and antiseptic mouth wash
i can only open it a little ways
howdy,joso
Oh, no, the swelling has not decreased?
and all the advil i can handle.yes it has decreased but now instead of the entire right side of my face,it is centralized in a golf ball size swell over the infected area
Ugh. well, that antibiotic will help.
they gave me ten days of this med with orders to eat yougurt and take probiotics mid day with one antibiotic in the morn and onne at night
450 mg twice daily?
300 mg twice daily
If you are not better in a few days you may need a higher dose. I am not a dentist but in te5 with certain infections we use 300-450 mg 3-4 times daily.
ty.scrabby i guess half way through the med cycle i should see a def improvement?
Within 4-5 days, unless you need an abscess drained.
well he drained the gums in the affected area, and his hoping the infection did not attack the tooth nerve from below
Are you able to sleep?
because the tooth, after examination looks good on the top side
yes,thankfully
on a pain scale of 1-10 it sits at a 6 as long as i do not do anything foolish
I am sure it is bad and difficult to forget about.
it rams home the import of proper flossing and how buying a water pik may be a very good idea
Tooth #30 gave me trouble for years, so I had the filling replaced, then a root canal, then an apicoectomy (read about that), then extraction, then implant. That all happened over 10+ yrs and cost me probably $10K.
ouch
Oral and dental health are vital to general health.
Do you feel well enough to snowshoe? I forget, do you have snowshoes?
Hi all :)
Hi Liz. How has Saturday been?
Wet but good thanks. Now 12.42 am - just got in from a laughter filled night with friends and unwinding for a bit before bed.
Hope you have a good Saturday - are you on call?
It is hard to unwind after an evening of laughter.
Whether my brain will see any words now is a different matter!
I keep some older shoes just for snow ...
Not on call. I have the weekend on-call in 2 wks. I will cross-country ski again today.
Hi o-o
No knee-high boots, o-o.
* ?
Sounds like fun, Scrabbs - too cold for me to contemplate! Sitting here in Tshirt and cut off trousers!
The problem I have is how to get the shoes on when they are full of snow.
This is the earliest I have been able to ski, because we got over a foot of snow this week.
The ski resort across the valley opened on Wednesday--an early start for them. Financially wonderful for them.
Cold winter forecast?
Actually a warming trend which bodes poorly for snowsports.
Wet slushy snow then?
Yes, but then overnight it will freeze, so then there is ice early in the day. Anyway, snowshoeing in the woods is an option if the ski trails are a mess.
Are the roads kept well cleared or do you have to resort to snow shoes and skis?
Not sure how remote an area you live in.
The roads are well-plowed, unless the snow is coming down hard and the plows cannot keep up. Also, I pay a man $300 per winter to plow my driveway.
$300 well invested, I'd think!
I live in a development on top of a hill, about 1700 feet high, with one road in, and 140 homes.
Is this the community where you work as well?
I'd imagine it's pretty important to keep that main road clear then.
Funny, I judge snow by London standards and the place just fell apart in heavy snow because it didn't happen often, so sorry if my questions sound naive.
I work in a village 8 miles away. This is rural, many farms.
Must be pretty idyllic.
Are the 140 homes subject to covenants or other contractual obligations?
We get 80-120 inches of snow every winter.
snowshoes are at the ready scrabby and i may be up to using the tomorrow
Hi crossy. How are you today?
them
Yes, o-o, this is a homeowner's association. Annual dues = $360. We have a meadow (baseball/soccer/volleyball), a playground, a basketball court, a picnic shelter, and a pool.
howdy, liz,i am doing well and recovering from the dental torture chamber of horrors
This is a woodlands community, with architectural guidelines, and other rules about preserving the trees. I love it here. It is my heaven.
Glad to hear it. Up to eating solids yet or still on baby mush?
working on my first breakfast in 3 days. a scrambled egg and two lightly toasted slices of bread
Yay! Progress!
Poor Crossy. I wish I could help, but healing takes time.
i will be back on bacon in no time:))
The $300.00 is in addition to the home owner assessment?
Still reckon you 've got the option of a bacon smoothie.
My snowplowing cost is extra. SOme people shovel, others have a snowblower, most pay a guy to plow.
a smart kid on the block would do well to buy a snowblower and go door to door
OK 1.00 and time for bed. Enjoy your days and hope by tonight you'll be up to bacon, Crossy!
But the high school kids must get on the bus at 0645 as it is.
Sleep well, Liz.
ty,liz and have a good sleep
Have you made any changes to your place to reduce damage caused by a sudden evacuation of snow from your roof?
lol, scrabby.up north as kids,we used to get up at 04:30 for hockey practice,go home at 6 am,shower, eat and out the door for long bus ride at 7 am
Hah, I have had 2 crises from that problem, since I got a steel roof 12 yrs ago. My small greenhouse was crushed, so I had it turned into a screened-in porch.
i am surspised you do not keep a roof rake handy, scrabby
Then in front I place plywood boards in front of the floor-level windows because once the snow and ice crashed down and bounced through a window.
No, Crossy, I stay away from an avalanche.
BRB, must grab breakfast.
good morning babbleland!
and all our new steel rooves havesmall upraised prtions that look like a steel ruler on edge.it prevents the entire thing from sliding off the roof as a whole
howdy,carlee
hi crossy :)
i am..PROCRASTINATING....
i see that
the good thing about procrastinating is that you can always get to it later
yeap... indeed you do...
I never procrastinate ... I just am ambivalent about whether I should.
there is that too 0-0
Hi Carlee!
My dad and I would get on the roof to make sure no vents were plugged ... took a push broom along to get snow accumulations moving on down. Not so fun but had to be done.
yup.there were many times we had blocked vets.can be dangerous
vents
well, plugged vets can be a hazard as well,i am sure
I got a steel roof after several years of having ice dams and leaking into the house. Many people here now have metal roofs.
My phone charger cable is not working. I have bought so many new chargers. Is it the connection tines that fail over time?
yes.makes life easier.nothing worse than ice build up backing up under the first 3 course of shingles and all of a sudden you have water running down your livingroom wall
often, scrabby you can try cleaning those tines with a q tip and a bit of nail polish remover
they get a build up on them sometimes
unless some are actually broken off, then a new one is in order
hi scrabs... sorry..was away
I think I have bought 6-7 new ones in the last year. I don't know if spending $20 is better than the $8 ones I buy. Geez.
morning all!
howdy,dan
well try cleaning the tines before you toss it
Hi Dan
well, seven of the 8 dollar ones is 56 or three of the 20 dollar ones.so maybe see if the 20 dollar ones last any longer
Does the manufacturer of the charger have a number to call for support, Scrabbler?
or,get one of those new duracell chargin mats
It is so aggravating that charger cables/tines are so inadequate.
I can check, o-o.
You cannot be the only one having that problem.
Or I can get a battery wall charger and extra battery.
the new chargin mats will charge up to three items at once. you just drop the phone on it and away it goes
Wow!
yuppers
i will get you a link.one sec
http://www.duracellpowermat.com/
I can charge my phone in my car but then must leave the car running. So, I will drive into town before I ski.
my 2 usb ports in the jeep seem to charge no matter if the vehicle is running or not
then again if i need it my jeep also has two 110 volt power outlets
I use an adaptor not a usb port in the car.
good for those winter tailgate parties
Argh, the hassles of modern electronic life.

I am listening to my mother on the phone now.
drones on a tad does she scrabby? lol
scrabbs, How is she coming along since your Dad died?
She rambles on and on. Overall she is progressing with grief but she cried on Thanksgiving Day, missing him. Last year we were in a daze of grief. This year his absence seems more real.
She is lucky she has you and your sister nearby.
crossy tidbit of the day!!!! today is the 100 anniversary of the crossword puzzle:)
Yay! I love doing the NYT crossword puzzle. It is in our newspaper on Saturdays. So I will do it in the warming hut after skiing today.
Annie, we do our best. She is anxious and finicky.
Time to get ready for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. I need to put layers on. It is 25 degrees.
Cold here, too. Have fun, Scrabbs.
only minus 3c here but lots of snow

hi,
-3 C sounds worse than it is :D
yeah 3 below in canada is about the same as ruru's 25, isn't it?
I"m not in the 20's .. I read scrab's post. it is in the 40's here.. not too too bad.. only really cold at night and in the early am.. it warms up to the 60's during the day
ah
well I think we are about 25, but i haven't checked
I think the coldest I've ever been was in Winnepeg Canada .. it was -30 F below with a wind chill factor higher than that
lower than that ? :D
phantom venison
yum....
we had air temp of 32 below in my area of Montana. In about 1983. The wind is the deal-breaker.
that's pretty darn cold. in my case I got frostbite
yah, one must be careful.
I can't work out your fahrenheit
I was visiting a friend who ran away from the Army and was hiding in Canada.. during the Viet Nam war
ah
the 70's
it is 9 degrees here in London atm and the coldest I experienced in Toronto was minus 40 c with the windchill
Hi btw (0:
All I remember was downtown Winnepeg was as cold as Boston in the winter. with the wind blowing through the buildings
ok how do you play babble?
minus 40C..let me look that up
hello LN 1115 and welcome
thank you
look for words in the grid, up down diagonal, etc. take a second to read the help and then jump right in!
thank you so much !!!
enjoy ln and welcome... you will like it here
the grid changes every night at midnight Chicago time
there is also a link below called lickety's list.. it will be helpful too. it shows you (when it is there) the first two letters and points of each word

hi all, did not play babble Thursday or Friday. I spent Thanksgiving with 2 very dear friends. I had a lovely time.

just a wee bit
he wants to laminate his artwork so that it will be preserved forever... also family pictures ( in case the fall in the mud)
oh
smart kid
another of his favorite things is a large box of zip lock bags.. for preserving other stuff........... maybe he is a born archivist... or as one family mamber commented in a low voice.... maybe he is just a little strange like his g' nana
i am his g'nana ( sam's word for great grand nana , so that i would not be confused with any of his other grandmothers)
yep.. I figured that out :D
phantom: venison, hi all
yeah.. a lot of people have been holding that word deerly
i would love a good venison steak aloy....... and the irritating this is the they stroll through my yard and leer at me because they know i can t do anything about it. had a 6 point buck looking in the window of my dining nook the other day. i swear tha damned thing was grinning
Aloy did I tell you that I made a really good butter bean soup. I gave it to a friend last week and she really liked it. I gave it to two friends over the weekend and they loved it. One had two helpings!
sounds like something my hubby woukd like peri..... he is the only one i know who likes butterbeans
I did not know I liked them. the recipe is on the can of Bush's butter beans. The only thing I add is fresh garlic.

Hello, everyone! Talking food, I just got an 8-qt. slow cooker and have never used one before. Any good recipe ideas will be greatly appreciated. I'm going to put a whole chicken in there in a bit. A friend told me not to put liquid in with it since it makes enough by itself....thoughts?
fw, pretty friendly grid today.. hi Mimi!
congrats, Aloy but I do not think this grid is friendly
bbs
((Aloy)) Looking forward to tomorrow....call me later.
lots of online slowcooker recipes.. you will have a ball
that is a big slow cooker mimi
have fun alloy and mimi
I like the chicken and dumplings one, pot roasts, chiles, soups, the list goes on and on
I wanted the biggest one I could find so I could make a whole roast.
me too Mimi! will do
bye, peri.. must scoot too.. Happy Babbling! poof
nice that you're meeting up mimi
I have enjoyed meeting several babble players
((ruru)) So good to see you!! Yep...we've got a beautiful dinner planned at a restaurant in a resort atop a mountain...sunset reservation. The restaurant has windows all the way around.
I happened to catch the conversation you had with Haz and co the other day.. and I must say that someone's comments to you were below the belt and uncalled for and rude
hence my icon
Thank you, dear...several people emailed me saying they thought so, too. Nice to know I have support! I now simply avoid chat whenever o-o is here...not worth the hassle. There was someone in that particular criticizing conversation who believes she has a bone to pick with me and who has actually made the criticism I made herself...hate hypocrites.
I won't name names because that's not who I am.
yep.. I have been meaning to catch you and toss in my support. I caught mr 00's comment and found it to be very hurtful and rude.
it's odd how some people get miles of latitude and others have a very short leash :D
I just don't see the point saying things like that, especially bringing one's children into it...it was just cruel. I know he has "issues" but that does not give him the right to be that cruel especially when it isn't even relevant to anything I said to or about him.
I completely agree.
it doesn't give anyone the right to be cruel like that
I used to dislike Molly a bit as well but she has kind of grown on me and now I miss her! Don't think BR could grown on me if you super glued him.
I know he can't help himself.. but he should stay away when he is in his moods
That's why I've just avoided chat when I see he's here...better to leave him alone. I don't need the grief. I come here for the wonderful company and most people here are indeed terrific.
Molly's comments are often misunderstood. She actually is trying to joke.. but for some reason they come across as criticisms .. whereas when I joke.. everyone knows it is a joke, because i'm such a goof
Molly is actually a very funny person
I usually assume someone is joking at least at first. I understand sarcastic wit because that's my style as well. Gotta say crossy was right there for me, bless him. Knew you would be, too. Thanks so much.
I could make more comments but it is probably best to leave it like it is.
Sometimes people get a bit huffy here.
I was just thinking the same thing myself, ruru!! Best to leave it along and move on.
there are times I wish you were in the chat while people are acting out kap.. with your experience and all
My experience of what- acting out?
aren't you a therapist?
Oh, yeah, that makes me an authority I guess ;)
we'll you'd be able to diagnose some of these people's issues :D
Believe it or not, that's my background, too. But I'm one of those who believes people should take responsibility for their words and actions and not just use excuses.
You've heard of wounded healers, or healed wounders or time wounds all heels or something...
I diagnose everyone here as seriously disbabbled.
I believe context is everything.
Kap, I think of us as being "embabbled."
Well-heeled wound up babblers.
Look Mimi.. this is just a game. It is here to help people challenge their brain. The Chat feature is a nice feature to have people help each other accomplish the goal of finishing and chatting. The bitchy portion of the program.. is really uncalled for. I'm here to have fun, laugh, and talk to nice people.
Could you imagine how many friends I would have if I started diagnosing them?
LOL Kaplan
Girls just wanna have fun.
Apprently we are a group that spent a year grieving a fake person, so who is to say what's real?
Exactly, ruru. The grid is one thing and chat is another. It's a chance to connect with people from all over the world you would never meet otherwise. I'm looking forward to meeting Aloy tomorrow and many other babblers in the future...lots of trips being planned for the spring.
The fake person was a lot of fun, and we got along, only he didn't exist.
Which is why I don't participate in social networks at all. I see it as a bad venue to bully people.
this is a social network of sorts.
I completely do not understand the fascination with Facebook! Lots of people with nothing to say...saying it!
yes..that's true Kaplan..
I bet Aloy is a nice person
Depends on who you have as friends. I connected with some important people that I had lost track of, and we share good times during public events. Also, when Boston was on lockdown last spring, it's how I stayed up on things.
I would NEVER sign up for Facebook.. not ever
Photographing food- that I don't get.
I never say never ever.
Look at the eggs I had for breakfast, everyone! Sheesh!
I sometimes say sometimes. I often say rarely.
LOL
I usually say maybe.
Interesting chat to stumble into..... Hello all :-)
I have commitment issues.
Kap you are hilarious
hello soodle
That's exactly right, Kap...lots of people with NOTHING to say doing so constantly!
Oh, is there a GRID here today?
((Soodle))!!!
Me? I'm just a gal who can't say 'No'.....
That must have made you very popular with the gentlemen, Soodle!
You don't have to be friends with people who don't say anything. You can get updates from Robert Reich.
That depends on what the question was, Mimi ;-)
Me,too...oh, the stories we could share, Soodle!
Gotta go and see if I can figure out this slow cooker so I'll have chicken for dinner tonight. So good touching base with everyone today. Especially happy to get to chat with you, ruru. Hugs all around!
Bye Mimi. (((())))
good luck with the cooker
I've never used one
Phew! I don't know what a slow cooker is.......
they are big over here soodle
for people on the go
Now I do!! I just googled it. I don't think they're available over here.
Slow cooker, also known as crock pot. Put your meat/veggies in (usually with liquid), set timer/temp and be gone all day while it slowly cooks.
probably really handy if you are running with kids all the time
Better than running with scissors.
My equivalent is a bit prehistoric. I have a solid fuel cooker, which is great for stove-top soups & stews etc.
I use mine at least 2x a week. Pork or beef roasts, stews, chile, soups ... oh, and wassail in holidays.
Used to use my crock pot a lot when I was working but haven't at all since I retired.
Oh yes, ch1212, good for mulled cider too
Running with scissors is difficult if you are hard of Shearing :D
LOL Ruru!
Cutting as usual, Ru
You just have to hide in the burroughs.
It works best in August.
same idea as a pot roast, low temp long time cooking. very tender meat, flavors disseminated well isw the result
Nothing to be afraud of.
lol (chuckle) Kap
Nothing better than coming home from a hard day at the office, to a lovely, cooky smell!
I tend to cook on the spot.. with what ever suits my fancy.
In fancy suits? Are you well heeled?
I can't wear heels :D
Pimple pie? Zuchini n zits?
ewwwwwwww
the last time I heard anyone go ewwww here was the other day with Gleedy.
Gleedy?
it was a word.
This grid makes me want to evacuate the avenues.
that's one I don't know
Could someone please clue the a in the top row?
LOL.. there are a few twisty ones kap
at 7 and at 8 tabby
a track star or olympic champion
Thanks ru
Tabby - sporty type & plural
that could be REgis PHilbin soodle
Thanks again, that gives me nbt and nbs.
well.. thanks for the laughs.. I gotta go clean the cottage for another showing on Monday
Hi Everyone!
Hi hego
Bye Ruru & hello Hego. :-)
hi tabby
hi and Bye Hego.. sorry I am missing your appearance
By ruru
hi and bye ruru
Hi and bye as well. I have to go do something productive.
Not that this isn't, or is it?
I hope it wasn't something I said.....
"Oh do not ask what is it?/ Let us go and make our visit."
Guess whether that was TS Eliot or Dr Seuss.
Nd Kap is off again :)
If you don't want my sugar please don't touch my bowl.
I thought it was Lewis Czrroll
I believe it was Eliot.
Carroll
Eliot.
You are usually right
Liked the sugar bowl line...
But Eliot didn't say "if you don't want my sugar please don't touch my bowl."
didn't think so
The lovesong of J Alfred Prufrock?
I'm listening to Gladys Hill singing.
hi Soodle!
Yes, it was Prufrock. Do I dare to eat a peach?
Or should I stick to mangoes.
There were such existential dilemmas in the wast land.
Is that like "if you don't want my peaches, don't you shake my tree"/
Waste.
Jays!! Can't remember what I ate for dinner, but I can recall lines from a poem learned over 3 decades ago. I am old, Father William!
Yeah, I think so.
the young man said
You have asked me 3 questions and that is enough. IYou don't have to give yourself airs.
Neatly bringing in Carroll for Hego! 😄
lol ty
I don't have to listen all day to such stuff. Be off or I'll kick you downstairs!
Just don't get me started on Jabberwocky. We'll be here all night....
father william was a cranky old goat
twas brillig
Now I really have to leave you all.
:) Bye Kap.
Bye Kap. Come back soon .
How was Thanksgiving/Hanukkah for you guys?
Mine was very nice, thanks Soodle
Quiet, just me and my children.
Glad to hear that, Hego. I'm already looking forward to Christmas, which will be just me & my children!!
Nice
We will be together with my sister and her family for Christmas.
Also nice
ct clue anyone?
C + number after 9, +robot ending. I'm amazed you don't use that word everyday, Hego. :-P
I know it's out there somewhere....
ty Soodle!
I don't even think I can pronounce it.
I know it's part of my everyday vocab.... Not!!
:D
....and yet you incessantly stand on your head.....
Thanks soodle ;)
do you think at your age it is right?
Lol. Hiya Chrissie :-)
Hi Chrissie
Hi guys, guess we had a childhood in common
my very first full length book.
I still own it.
That's nice hego. A family heirloom
My copy of the poem was in a beautifully illustrated poetry book. Think I still have that too
The time has come, the walrus said, to talk of many things........ There's more than one walrus (virtual) on Babble, with the range of topics discussed. Lol
I became a confirmed anglophile at age 9.
...of shoes and ships and sealing wax...
and cabbages and kings
.......of c
.......of c
.......of c
soodle is stuck
Sorry. I was in such a hurry! Lol
lol
What about this one.... There lived a sage in days of yore
this isnt a limerick, is it?
just kidding
lol
Not ringing any bells, Chrissie. But then, I went through the Irish education system. They were very selective about what they taught us... Be it literature or history. :-/
Google it soodle. We had to perform it at primary school
I remember being about 9 or 10 & learning Mid Term Break by Seamus Heaney. To this day, it brings me out in goose pimples.
okkkkkk I am new here as of today -- why do I have a red word?
hi ln
hi hego
sounds like an erroe
try entering it again
in the list of words? why would it be up their then?
Your very welcome LN.
no idea
it is a word in my list
really!
maybe it means I should go on a diet?
the word is diet lol
ignore it. lol
Goodness soodle, that's such a sad poem. Just googled it. Haven't heard it before
I can do that just curious
LN, never heard that one before.
What an awful poem to make a young child learn
Oh Chrissie - imagine a class of 10 yr olds being taught that? We bawled our eyes out!
maybe it is a personal message lol
thank you anyway
We bawled our eyes out & then went home & were nice to our younger brothers!!
Making coffee, bbs
poor Soodle
Thats a cute little poem about the sage in days of yore. It made me smile!
One of my alltime favourite poems is The Deserted Village, by Oliver Goldsmith. And my favourite line in it is... 'And fools who came to scoff remained to pray'...
kids don't seem to learn poetry anymore.
we had to read a lot of Longfellow
and Frost
Hego, I was in my 30's before I could read poetry comfortably, for the sheer joy of it. Up till then, I was looking for similes & metaphors & Lord knows what.
good old school days.
Nowadays I read poems & take from them what I want to take from them! Yah Boo to all the arty-farty stuff!
Now you can enjoy it.
Exactly. And now I must toddle off. My date is arriving in approx 45 mins. Sadly, the older I get, the longer it takes me to beautify myself. More cracks to fill in, I guess! Bye Hego & all. Poof
Ooooo....a date!
Have fun!!!

I did indeed, I spent it with two dear friends. how was yours?

Hello Lizlin! How are you doing today? Welcome to chog.
Hi Min. Hope everyone enjoyed thanksgiving.
Cute icon, Min.
Thanks Lizlin!
hello again all! If yesterday was Black Friday, does that make this Gray Saturday?
Hello dan2bit! How are you doing? Welcome to the chog.
Hi Dan
I am well Min, and you?
I'm well, thanks. I'm working on a story of clue right now.
Dan, I think they should rename yesterday Green Friday because everyone is spending money and today would be Black Saturday because everyone is broke!
Good thinking, Mimi.
love it!
Have you have your babble meet-up yet - bit confused about when it was / will be?
My mind plays strange and wonderful (?) tricks on me!
Good point MimiCat!
Hello MimiCat! How are you doing? Welcome to the chog.
I'm so excited tonight! Just made my first chicken in my new slow cooker but the real wonderful news is that Aloy is in town and we're having dinner on the top of a mountain at a 5-star resort tomorrow evening! Yay---my first Babble meetup!
Can't wait to hear about it and if Aloy and you are happy about it, hope you'll post some pics :)
OK got to go - Sunday morning house clean time. Back later for the final 22 words. Have a good evening :)
Liz, this place is gorgeous. We have reservations right before sunset and the restaurant has windows all the way around so we can watch the sunset over the mountains. She's from Ohio so I thought we needed to go see a mountain sunset!
g'nite
Goodbye Lizlin! I will see you later in the chat log maybe.
Night, Liz...later.

Have you ever noticed how sometimes the simplest food is the best? Just got the chicken out of the slow cooker and it is falling off the bones and delicious. Just going to have a chicken sandwich with garlic stuffed olives on the side...simple and wonderful.
Bliss!
Car, did you see that Aloy and I are meeting up tomorrow on top of a mountain here in Phoenix for dinner? Right at sunset...gorgeous.
I put my no 4/4 to the grid at se 5/16 this morning. I do not have mu4/8 more words to find and I'm almost done so now I'll le4/5 you a hand with a story of clues as I always te 4/5 to do when I am near fireworks. At the on 5/10 of this holiday season, My best friend Ja 4/9 & I decided to do something extremely different. Was trampled on and was se 4/4 to the hospital so I have never done Black Friday ever since that happened. Now I st 4/6 home and do all my shopping online. This en4/5 my story.I hope you have se4/4 more words with this story. Now that I've le4/4 you a hand with my story I'm going to go watch the movie Ma5/16point. I will be back later, ev 4/7 if husband is using computer. I will kick him off. By the way, I totally in6/27ed my story. No 4/4 of it is true.
