hey dee :-)
sorry....
Dear Babble friends, I am asking for prayers for our Dear GrannyRose. She lost her MIL saturday morn. She is overwrougth with this and losing her own mother last week and just having operation. She dont think she will be able to talk .
OMG, pug, i'm so sorry to hear that :-(
she asked me to inform you all here
Oh, pug, so very sorry to hear. Thanks for letting us know.
Oh Pugs, thanx for letting us know. She must be devastated. {{HUGGLES}} Rose xoxo
please let her know we are thinking of her, pugs
I will Nan, she said she may be here but just cant talk---and Hello Everyone
((((Hugs)))) to Rose and Don, you're in my prayers xx
hi all -- I, too, heard from rose and was about to report that, but I see pug already did so. Poor rose is very depressed -- no surprise. Please, anyone who has her email, give her your support. She is really in need.
Thanks for the message pugs
tx jilli -- how overwhelming for her . . .
thanks pug and jilli
Don is being stoic, she says.
poor thing
Thanks, Lickety.
You are in my prayers GrannyRose.
Thanks, puglet, for letting us know. She is in my prayers.
it does sound overwhelming. and the after affects of aenesthesia (sp) pack a punch too.
YW Peach, Iam just so sad myself for them, its hard for me to talk
((((pug))))))

Bless you puglet.....just know that God will take care of her.....keep the prayers going.

My heart aches for Rose and Don... so many huge hurdles in such a short time.. definitely agree with you, peach, about keeping the prayers going. They surely need our love, support, and prayers now.

Congrats Dee and other finishers.
Hi Liz
So sad for Rose!
ty and hi likZ
hi liz
Well, I am off. I want to send Rose an email. Hugs to all!!
bye Dee
Sleep well Dee
*poofing with hugs!*
Guess I should've said, sad for Don too.
Oh, hey there, Yvooria. I looked for you earlier. Did you do OK on the last grid? Did you have Lickety's List? I can't remember just what all you do have. This one is tiny.
Hi Peach
Hi there, Lizlin.
I'm working freehand without lickety or the Pro account... I didn't get time to work on yesterday's grid today really... haven't had any puzzles that i'm super proud of but I'm learning.. these tiny ones at least make me feel like I'm getting more of the grid, in terms of percentage. I'm a rookie!
i find these puzzles are a great diversion when I'm working on other things and my mind is tired of one kind of thinking so it's refreshing to do another kind of thinking.
That is good. And it is on 24/7.....so, someone is always on and it is just good to talk or not talk.....eases our minds somewhat. I'm so glad that is working for you. Hugs
that's true and the people are usually fun to chat with
the pro fee is so worth it if you enjoy the game
yeah, I'll give it a few more weeks and revisit the Pro thing... I'm a unabashed cheapskate at times...:)
How long have you been playing, Yvoo? You lose the stats after 2 weeks.
I know.. I felt the same way.. but I like the game and it's only 15 for ever
Hi ru and all -- I was away in the kitchen for abit.
Yeah, i have lots the stats.. didn't know it was coming either :)
there are players who play for free.. (HI JILLI) that haven't ever signed up like Gran.. but wow .. it is so much harder
How long has babble been here
there's always lickety.. but if he doesn't show you are at the mercy of the grid or DEE :D
I don't know
I've been playing for yikes 7 years?
maybe six
Is there older players than you
yes. sure
haz, peri marigold une, aloy br are among the oldest I know
I think sprite has been around a long time.. scrabbler too
How did you stumble onto this Ru
I think Peri was here from almost the beginning
I think Dee lured me over from Boggle
jacula has been here from the start. I think I joined in 2005 or 6
the original boggle before Hasbro screwed it up
oh yes Jacula is one of the oldest players too
Pogo has a nice boggle game
I think of Jacs and Haz as our long long time players
I am not sure when has started.. but she was here way before me..
HAz that is
I think Grannyrose has been here a long time too
the summer of 2005 seems to have been close to the beginning of babble
i began then
wow.. that's good to know
but have not been playing steadily all that time
so many loyal players. (avoids saying addicted)
who was here when you began mab
there were a lot of people, brits I recall, who no longer seem to play, or play only rarely.
I was just thinking you guys must of seen alot of players come and go
oh sure.. hundreds and hundreds
some really nice people
and a few jerks :D
the brits were such fun,and so witty.
Hi again
oh yes, a jerk or two too.
But the lovely people by far outweigh the jerks!
I just got red boxes again at this time.
are there some good TU clues tonight?
And do you remember the girl who invented a guy player that she chatted with...until we figured it out?
red boxes
Hi again Liz
Yv: tu512 the one being taught.
Hi JeeWhiz, dont think I've met you before
tx :)
I remember that incident, jee, but I don't think she was ever proven to be fooling us.
Hi Puglet
one briton, atalante, started in summer 2004. that;s as far back as my cursory research goes.
she is too busy doing oceanographic things to babble now.
I see I joined on May 28, 2006. I don't remember that incident. Jee
I don't have tu7 yet, but I have tu5.....tu + 12 months - the 'a'.

yvw, mab.
If anyone has tu7-40.....would they please clue? Thanks
i would be very happy if lots more people joined babble.
I would like it too
Would if I could!
we used to get a lot of trolls too -- usually Aussie kids on holiday. And others of course.
the tu 7/40 is when you use the informal "you" in French
I know you would, Liz, dear.
I officially joined Babble in July of 2004 but I've been playing longer than that.
In March I will have a year in
How Tu plus consonant plus o4
tu 7 tu plus someone who fools around with things to play with
tu + plaything + ending of someone who does something
I've been "here" since April 2006, but I lurk a lot :)
Ty all tu7 clues :)
oh boat, i love veronica mars
oh wow, mich -- I got that right away -- thks
thanks for the 7
Thanks much, JeeWhiz, saanich.
btw hi everyone. I wonder if anyone can clue po 6/26?
Brandyjack has been here a long time as well as torgone.
ah, good stuff.
boat is a true babble 'elder'
yw peach!
hi mich
Veronica Mars film will be released March 14th! So excited!
hi saan!
That's cause you're Canadian, Jilli :) you all learn french
it feeels so long ago, but isn't really.
hi there Jilli, keeping warm?
You'd think after 9.5 years I'd have more points. Still chasing a million.
haha saan!
does the same actress play veronica?
so are the oldest member Boat
I learnt French as a Brit kid in Shanghai! (Only a little)
I am keeping only my office and the bathroom warm
Yes, everyone is back. I think there is only one cast change, a more minor character. Same people, same characters. Can't wait!
my score is definitely not indicattive of my longevity here.
saan, seriously, I have a warm house all over -- electric heat.
Mich, I have po6-24, is that the one you need?
oh jilli, your life is so exotic. learning french in shanghai!
pug - I think there are a few memebers that have been here longer than I.
po + consonant + first three letters of number smaller than 1
Jilli, forgot you were a worldy Shangaiese girl :)
We all learned
Thanks Helensgirl - that didn't show up in a2zwordfinder
Ty helen
We all learnt French and Latin at the British school in Shanghai. But no Chinese.
19 left - saving that for morning! Good night all, and good luck.
I'm not Shanghainese -- I'm a Shanghailander, like all the Europeans there.
good night!
gnight helens
Good night helen
shanghai must have been pretty stratified at that time. maybe still is....
night mich
night helen
se5-16 please.....thanks
Ah yes, Jilli, I stand corrected. I read two books set in Shanghai, you'd think I'd remember the difference.
night mich
It's totally changed now, mab -- all Chinese. In my day there was the International Settlement and the French Concession, surrounded by the Chinese. The area now full of skyscrapers was just a lot of shacks across the Whangpoo river from the main city.
i am relearning my hs and university french on duolingo.com
Have you been back, Jilli?
hmmm-- duolingo -- that sounds interesting. Does it cost a lot?
free!
No, liz, I've never been back -- it would be too heartbreaking. I've done a virtual taxi tour online though.
they teach you a language and then you translate web pages and other texts, for which duolingo gets paid.
Hmmm -- must have a look!
they offer just a few languages - i want to learn them all
i must do a virstual taxi tour!
I did a lot of translating from German for my Dane book although I don't know the language -- used dictionaries and grammar books and lined legal pads.
peach, the se5/16 is hard to clue....se plus the name of a hawaian food (alt sp)
you wrote a book too?!
Great clue, saanich. Thanks much.
you got it? Clever!
fascinating life.... then and now
ty saan -- I know that word, again from my overseas Brit past.
and just what is the main ingredient of this hawaian food??
Jilli, where are the danes most popular at
from taro, yvooria
Give me a second here...po + young horse - n
mab, I wrote a book about the development of Great Danes from their early registrations -- actually it was a series of articles I did for Dane magazines which I put together. It's just being reprinted now -- self-publication for a limited audience.
taro root, i think
oh, that's fine, jilli. really splendid.
ah!
pug, Danes are fairly popular all over the world.
i think i read here that you were doing this for your family?
saw a cute kitty video of kitty on perplexed dane's bed.
brb
the poor dane would not disturb kitty or even be so bold as to share. probably wise.
no, I did the Dane book for breeders all over the world, and there are people waiting for it in the UK, Australia, India, Brazil, Germany, Scandinavia, you name it -- plus the USA and Canada.
The great dane is such a gentle giant
Bbl
oh. don't know what i was thinking. that's great.
Jilli, were you a judge at shows
at some unofficial shows, yes, pug
I'm back.
wb peach
Yahoo Peach
there is a clever takeoff on dog shows, a movie called Best in Show, out several years ago. amusing.
I saw it -- hilarious.
its been along while but Ive seen it too
there are several 'mockumentaries' with the same caste on various topics
i like it too. so few comedies are actually funny to me in recent years.
so often too broad
nbt/nbs, over halfway
My all time favorite dog story is still old yeller. The book is much better than the movie though. I bet as a kid I read that 1oo times
saddest story short of 'where the red fern grows'
Ol Yeller is rather different from Best in Sow!
i read books about dogs as a girl
that one is a good one too
A really bawl maker.
yes
There's a nice one recently called Merle's Door. A book, that is, not a movie.
Yawn time. No time tomorrow -- goodnight all...*poof.
night Jilli
night jilli..... bonne nuit.
brb refill time
Has anyone seen flosey tonight?
yes
Thanks, mab.
she was here at the flip, i believe
I missed her.
espot
sorry...
May I please have a clue for st5-12 the 3rd? Thanks
back--I missed flosey too
She is such a sweet lady, isn't she, pug?
she is one among many Ive found on here
I think it was her that was to go see its a wonderful life, live somewhere
Ah, yes. Thanks, I had forgotten that.
I was wanting to ask her about how she enjoyed it----How are you today Peach--the pain better
I'm down to 5, I don't know how I got this far.....I'm sort of just gazing at the screen.
wow thats good Peach! You are getting very good on these grids----Iam down to 22
howdy, all
Today the pain wasn't so intense. It was a ragged day, that is to say nothing I needed to get done came easily. But here I am. LOL
Hi ya jbp
Pugs, 22 isn't bad at all. How are things with you and your sister?
Hi there, jbp.
and glad you are here Peach.----all is good with us
does the weather effect your pains Peach
I am glad to hear that, pugs.
how are you jbp today
Yes, it does. The cold and damp really do a number on me. When I win the Lotto I'm going somewhere it is warm and dry.
got a special place in mind Peach
I think I would like somewhere like Haw.
I like San Diego a lot but I don't know if I would want to move there......traffic is horrendous and the place has grown since I was there.....so, I really don't know.
Yeah, that is probably very nice. Also very expensive too. Oh well, it doesn't hurt to dream, does it?
Iam thinking Ru lives in cal. does he not?
Yes.
Nope, dreaming is free--lol
How long did you live in cal.?
everything just redboxed out
is it just me?
Oh, no.
I had them about 2
Not here, jbp.
ooh, road trip to CA...
Try refreshing.
that's how I got y'all back
did you get them earlier Peach
3rd st/12 change the last letter of the previous st/12 to a t
Puglet, are you in my timezone?
here I was thinking you just wanted a quiet time jbp
its 3:19 am sat here
in here? rarely!
Thanks so much, Anita.
Hello Anita
No, pug, I haven't had the red boxes tonight.
ok then yes, we are
I know jilli got them about the time I did too
LOL I have 4 left and my hands are cramping up, so I think I will come back later.
have you had bad weather jbp
and my word for today that is not in the grid is "tune"
Yvooria, do you want any clues, dear one?
it started freezing rain a very little bit when jeff & I came home around 9 PM
hate to see you go but understand Peach--hugs and have a good day
and it is making wet sounds...
I would love the Y clue... if anyone is asking
Thanks, puglet.
we got a foot of snow and it has at last stopped
I dont have it jbp
well, I am reluctant to wish it, but if it snows, at least my headache will abate (stoopid sinuses)
how about the lone P or the E below it?
ye + double cons.
oh no,,dont tell me you got that voice back--lol
thanks, Peach
thanks Peach
Yep.
no, this is just my normal October thru April sinus headache.
I refer to it as my 'trick head'
jbp, I thought I was the only person in the world with sinus problems. Come to think of it, I guess it is a seasonal thing.
hope you get rid of it soon---I hate headaches
got the P... it's kind of like 'papa' just with different vowels.
yeah, cold weather, altho I like it, does my arthritis and my sinuses no good
Ok, blessings for my "peeps'. Nite nite.
That's nothing to sneeze at
nite Peach!
night Peach
THERE he is....
Greetings earthlings
greetings Ruru
how is everything in the land of the Ru?
Nice day today. ..lots to do this weekend
Everybody done now?
well, with 27 left and finally nbt, I'm off to hog some covers. Have a splendid rest of the evening/morning/ etc. ;-)
Bye jb
bye jbp
Night pugs
night ruru
good morning all
Morning Sprite
I was getting lonely in here
hi pug *hugs* Just read rose's sad news. Fang has something to account for, doesn't she. Jeezz.
well, here I am, grin, ready to keep you company.
I know, Iam so sad for Rose
me too. She never seems to get a break, does she. Incredible. Always other people who have issues that involve her... even when she is recuperating from a severe operation.
we got such a big grid today too
yeah, poopie :(
is o-o around? I could really use one of his tongue-in-cheek remarks about the size of this grid...
she was lurking earlier but just wasent able to talk today
havent seen him--I was hoping for something from him to lift my spirit up and no Joso either
I can totally understand that, pug. It is way too much. Am glad she is crying, so she can let out some of the stress.
I guess joso is unpacking boxes... moving is such a drag :(
yeah me too--I was crying earlier too for her pain
Goooooooooooood morning fellow Babblers xx And I'm guessing looking at this grid at somewhere in the regions of about 40 words or so? xx
bless your heart, pug. *hugs*
hi worzel, 67 today, 3x7
its alot to cope with---all three things so close together
hi sprite and ty for stats xx
Hi Wor
If any of you have relatives/friends flying into the UK today we have major issues with air traffic control around the UK apparently, so just get them to check xx
Hi puglet xx
sure is. Even the amazing strength of our rose isn't fully up to handling that much. I hope she can grieve for a bit.
I dont even know her name :(---MIL is all I know
Mother Mac will do, hun... or even just MIL... prayers always find their way.
Rose knew it was knocking at her door the day before---but with all else I think shes about to break
so how are you Mrs Sprite
pug, trust me, she will pull through. She is doing all the right things. Contacting us, telling us she cannot talk right now, taking time for herself to cry and be angry and sad and all... and tomorrow or the day after she will be back and will start to heal.
I am good. All my issues are minor compared to rose's. A few chores planned for today and nothing else much. Making puzzles for jigidi! Made a couple of new ones yesterday.
I seen the tulip one and its beautiful! I bet your country smells sooo good when all those flowers are out in full bloom
hey guys
but I also bet you guys have a boocoo of bees too
oh yes, when it is spring, everything smells lovely. So many flowers. I made some new ones after the tulips. Windmills and wooden shoes and christmas bells.
hey Joso, missed you
hi joso :) How is the unpacking progressing? And are you going to game tomorrow?
sorry to be so late, writing a letter to rose, and i am a sloooow writer
nah, bees just the normal amount, I think. Lots of butterflies. Bumblebees. I love bumblebees. When I was small I always wanted to cuddle with one.
joso, best reason in the world to be late. Rose really needs our support right now, I think. *hug*
I felt Rose's pain so much so I felt sufficated by it
I now have the furniture arranged in a reasonable fashion, almost everything fits, next is to unload a mountain of boxes
did you find your tea yet-lol
pug, however stupid it may sound, try and distance yourself a little bit... you can help her better if you don't let it drag you down with her. A big *hug* for you... you are such a beautiful person.
oh dear, joso, don't you hate moving! I will be thinking of you. Sending you strength and energy... and secretly being so grateful it is you and not me, lol.
no, took roses advice and went shopping, came back with 5 bags of groceries, but forgot the tea, lol
lol! Oh poor man! And just when you can really really use a cuppa.
I will try Sprite and thanks----poor Joso
maybe its a sign that tea isnt for you
yeah. Forget the tea. Go straight for the whiskey.
I hate the actual moving sprite, but I like the arranging of furniture, how to make future life as easy as possible, and ascetically pleasing. I find it an interesting puzzle
oh, that part I like too, joso. Putting the furniture in place and filling the cupboards the best way possible. But ugh, all the packing and unpacking... so hateful.
how many rooms you have Joso or is it one open space
Sprite is your hubby's workshop made of metal
yes pug, a true blue sea container. He was so happy with it, he cried a little yesterday. Is going to make it all to his liking step by step.
you wont ever see him now--lol
said the same thing... a green widow. But he said of course not, I could see him anytime I wished... and to bring a beer when I did, lol.
does he like woodworking--is that what its for----lol
it's an odd space, a large irregular room with a kitchen nook built in one corner, a long wide-ish corridor leading up to it and a large bathroom off that.
wow, sounds good, joso. Odd spaces can make the best homes... so much chance for creative solutions and cozy nooks.
do you have any windows in that dungeon
I agree heartily sprite, I love a bit of character in a home
pug: yes, that is exactly what it is for. He is a carpenter, originally. He loves making peddles for canoeing, even makes canoes, lots of stuff for in the house like Terra's bench (is in the pictures on Flickr). He even made a couple of knives, beautiful hefts (clings ordered ready to go, of course).
I Have some high small windows, as it is a basement apartment, but I can cover those up with bookshelves no problem
Sprite, you will have to buy you a barmaid outfit to deliever the beer--lol
we have a very very standard home, joso, and I would love to have an old, odd one. Once it is just Rob and me, I think we will move to something small, and I hope for a cottage near wood and water.
roflol pug, a very old and ugly one then!
brb
cover them up? Don't you need the light? Or can people look right into your life through them?
no no--one that shows off the bussums(sp)
this grid has 40 words and not one more. Jeezzzz, am I stuck.
you will be depressed Joso living in the darkness all the time
bosoms? Are you outta your knocker? You know how we call that in dutch? Binding the cat to the bacon!
I down to 14
pug, I was thinking the very same thing. Joso, if you can, invest in a waking light. An alarm clock that will imitate sunrise before you wake up. It works wonders for me, it is way into december and still no winter depression here. First time in... well... I think in forever.
back
I bet that shed would make a dandy storm shelter too
argh pug, so I am missing a couple still! Tsk, spoiling my delusions...
pug, I'd say so... never thought of it that way, but yeah, no chance it gets moved by anything less than a full tornado.
joso, wb, and please read back in chog... we just kept on talking to you, lol.
hehehe, so I am superfluous to the conversation
you could put a old window frame on the outside of it Sprite and a flower box to make it look country like
if you were, I wouldn't ask you to read back, lol. Of course you are not, we want your response!
Blocking the windows was a joke, sorry it didn't read that way
oh, pug, what a lovely idea! The flower boxes were planned... we are going to put a load of strawberries in there. But the window frame... brilliant!
oh LOL... sorry, joso. Sometimes it is hard to see the tongue-in-cheek tone through the normal font.
brb
yes, and my humor is dry, I've adjacently offended a few when I've said something I thought was perfectly ridiculous and it was taken seriously.
I wonder what a tongue and cheek font would look like, one of the cartoon bubble fonts maybe
You havent ever bothered me and Iam back
oh dear. Well, I hope they were de-offended when you explained.
wb pug
lol joso! We really need one. A sarcasm font and a tongue-in-cheek font.
covering up the windows made me think Joso might be some kind of gangster like Al Capon--lol
Al Josone
still stuck at 40, argh
good! that means you will be here awhile :)
hehehe, pug, you are so sweet
well pug you seem to have a function brain, and are able to recognize hyperbole when you see it
I dont know what hyperbole is---is that like hyperass
pug is very very people-smart
falsehood not intended to fool someone, sarcasm or tongue-in-cheek are some forms of it.
I dont always like feeling someone else's pain though Sprite and ths for the conment
no, I can imagine, hun. It isn't fun to feel it. But as my favorite teacher once said: imagine you cannot feel it at all. Wouldn't that be much worse?
yes I guess it would
I said the same thing to him. I guess it would be a lot worse. So we struggle on, hun, and help our loved ones carry their burdens.
so what about your daughter? find out any more
yes, what about your daughter
no, not really. The doctor thinks it is mostly stress. And also thinks her breathing issues aren't asthma. But that when she is stressed, she kind of forgets how to breathe and then her muscles don't work the way they should and that is causing her to get insufficient oxygen. So she is to go to a physical therapist who specialises in that kind of stuff.
sounds kind of like a panic attack
and she must do a lung function test, and will be seeing the lung specialist. So we will wait and see.
oh thats good, better than asthma, a real life long pain in the butt asthma is.
stress from school or just being a teenage girl
pug: no, not like that. With a panic attack, you start breathing too quickly and too high. She just breathes... less, I think. Not good enough.
true, joso. I hope it will work out, and she can forget about the medication. For now, she has to stay on it, though.
pug: stress from being my daughter :( And from having Tim for a brother... and yes, from being a teenager too. We are working on the first 2 issues though, and things are improving.
oh yes, don't stop meds until you are sure she will keep breathing
yeah, we will wait to see how the physical therapy goes before we bring down the meds.
wasn't even trying to hint at that, just that there is hope of a cure rather than her having a chronic condition.
am right with you, joso. It would be awesome.
brb, smoke break
ok joso
Sprite, you cant help somethings in life and you must know you are a great mother
Joso took a smoke break about this same time the other morn---got to wonder if hes not checking out someone in his new building--LOL
don't know about great, but am an ok mother... it is just that I am handicapped and without realising it, it has been a burden to my daughter. As she puts it, it isn't that I ask her to do stuff, but she feels she has to and either does it or feels as if she should have.
roflol pug! A cute and sweet woman for our joso... now that would be wonderful.
Lickety to the rescue today... am never gonna finish this one without help
brb... must break a potty
I think everything happens for a reason and it tells in the Book that he dont give us any more then we can handle
Can anyone clue the po6/36 please :)
tea*** plus first three letters of the number below 1
Brilliant clue puglet thank you x
yvw Norma
tnx for my first word pug
yw
back, potty broken ;) Hi Norma! Yes pug, I think it is true. He measures our burdens to the width of our shoulders. I just wish He wouldn't go to the uttermost last millimeter when He does.
Hi sprite x
I know what you mean---does anyone have a clue for the ge5-16
how are you today, Norma?
I am very well thank you sprite, how are you keeping .. I am usually on later and don't catch you
ge5: a certain form of mineral. Ends in song of praise.
pug-rock formation
good to hear, Norma, glad you are doing well :) I am good. Working hard and getting results, what more can one ask for?
hi Eva!
hi sprite!
what more indeed!!
thanks guys
Hi eve too
hi pug
it's dawn here, time for me to wander off into the real world, you all have great days and weekends.
bye Joso, take care
joso, enjoy your weekend and good luck with the unpacking. *hugs*
fireflies. A true small grid today... tiny and nasty, lol.
w2g Sprite
pug, dearheart, am gonna go, but I check my email quite regularly. So if you feel locked in or just sad, just email me and I will get back to you. *hugs*
bye all, I hope you will have a blessed day and a peaceful evening. *hugs*
enjoy your weekend Sprite, hugs--ths will do
good morning (late)
Howdy Ruby!
Sprite, are you still there? I avent read the chog, but am hoping that the stor passed you by and that you are safe and dry

Not bad, I guess. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but did you hear about rose's MIL?
I think so.did she not pass a few days ago?
No - her mother died last week, before Rose's op. Her MIL died this morning. Poor Rose - so much all in such a short time. Poor Don too - obviously.
i seem to remember that she was fighting with her son to bring an ex dil to the funeral
oh..no,i did not them.good lord.all comes at once:((
She had an op on Thursday (while Rose was still in hospital), then had a massive heart attack and went into renal failure. She was a good age - 91 - but still everything at once. Very hard for them.
so much for one family to bear all at once:((
:( :( - definitely.

As i said to Crossy, sorry to be the bearer of bad news but Rose's MIL died this morning :(
Rose asked that we let people know.
My goodness, your mother just died and now her mil. So sad and she just out of surgery.
*HER
Very tough time for the family. Feel very sad for them.
I really am not fully awake. So sorry.
Really doesn't matter - I understand the typos! And it's a rotten way to start the day, with news like that. But better than finding out by chance.
I appreciate your telling me. I wonder if she has an email address. Going to check and write to her.
Her e mail addy is in her profile.
Yes, I saw it. Will write to her.
OK - I'll be back tomorrow. Have a good day.
bye Liz, enjoy your day
good morning all

So sorry to hear about rose. I'll be sending her a little support email as well.
Hey, I have good news...my daughter and I are having dinner on Monday. Haven't seen or spoken with her in over a year. I'm actually a little nervous.
it's a real shame, the world seems to be piling it on her lately
hi mimi! that's great news!
Morning, dawg! Thanks.
I too will be sending Rose a support note. she's such a dear lady.
great mimi, don't get too nervous to enjoy it
Joso, I'm just hoping it goes well. I'm also making her favorite dish, my chicken paprikash, and sending it home with her. That should help!

You're a turkey dinner,

I'm a toy balloon that's fated soon to POP
Hi Ruru and Bob and Kaplan. I had to quickly get the charging cable before my laptop died. Phew.
but if baby I'm the bottom you're detop!
you're a Waldorf salad...you're a Berlin ballad...
they just don't write them like that anymore
You are in a witty mood today, Kaplan.
but of course oooh ooooh ooooh, baby baby was pretty sexy too
It's not my wit, it is Cole Porter
Ah.
The wittiest there was was Porter. But (this will be controversial) Eminem holds his own.
Discuss.
I have not listened to either. In fact, my brain focuses on the tune and not lyrics.
Whel, so much for Ira Gershwin then. and Cole!
I am weird, I know.
Noel Coward was wittier than Porter. Good morning.
Oh, is this gonna be one of those who was a better dancer, Kelly or Astaire thing, let's go!
Come on! Kelly was a good athlete, but ...
Oh, no---way more than that. He was sexier, and watch him rip up that newspaper.
Sorry anyone if I started anything. But I'm just at the end of my work-night. Only have a few more minutes on the computer and gone.
I started it.
Okay, he was "sexier" -- are you making a connection between being sexy and being a good dancer?
No. He was a great dancer.
Hi jwr
hi all. woke up to snow this am, unusual for this time of year
Hi, scrabbs - I have another five minutes or so, then gotta go. Please inform the Magne that Astaire was a far better dancer than Kelly.

As Dorothy Parker said to her boyfriend "fare thee well"As Columbus announced when he knew he was bounced/"It was swell, Isabelle, swell."
As Abelard said to Heloiuse
no credit for the pe -- I monkeyed it. One of those little words that I've probably missed in dozens of grids over the years -- but will never miss again!
I'll lay an appropriate quote on you next time I see you, Kap. I'm off, too. g'day all.

I am loving this new computer build of mine.should of done this long ago
tokk a old HP office computer, was a old 486meg,the kind that lay on the desk and you just put the monitor on top of it, swapped out the mobo, stuffed 3.5 gig into it and 2 gig of ram and a win 7 os;))
next is will gee how much of a video card it can handle without me having to swap out the power supply in the process
see
I wish I was tech savvy.I can barely turn on a computer!
crossy what did the new guts cost?
55 for the mobo,85 for the 775 pin Pentium d chip and 50 dollars for 2 sticks of ddr2 ram
the power suppy was free from my old parts box
as well as the optical drive
so,190 all told
now I just need to go through my box of parts and dig out a old agp vid card.thing I have a old pny 256 meg in there somewhere
may even have a 512
clue for the nu 5/16 plz?
and these old tabletop units really ventilate well:)

I have 4 chassis sitting unused. At least one that boots NT 4.0 (or did, last it was booted)
this had xp in it original, but I wanted win 7 so away I went and gutted it all
i have a beautiful 1 gig pci-e GPU sitting here but this mobo cannot take it
and the old computer is annoying me atm so it can be parts for now
wish you were closer ,dan, would let you root through my parts box and get that old rig roaring again
i put a dvd-rom in this and 5 minutes later found a nice lite-on dvd-rw:/
i am using the old ribbon cable however for the HDD since i found this beautiful old 80 gig HDD.this is real zippy and after installing the OS and partitioning ,i have 75 gig of free space.sure is nice when it comes time to defrag. not going through two TB is nice
mostly, what I lack is time :-)
yes.took me most of a full day by time i got all the bugs ironed out

Min, I just read your profile......love Elllen's work...She did Resurrection with Sam Shephard, if you haven't seen it, by all means do....it is a true story....I talked with someone in CA who, knew the real person, because a friend of mine wanted to go meet this person for physical healing......
Oh, and the 4 letter word is you brother, ge4-11 please.....thanks
your brother
NM, I found it.
Ellen Burstyn is 81 & she is still going strong. She just finished making a movie,4 movies in post-production, she's filming 2 movies, & 2 movies in pre-production.

Darn it! Sorry gapeach, jumped the gun. Need a clue yet

Ruru, thanks for the recommendation on the Ellen Burstyn movie...it's streaming on Netflix so I'm going to watch it tonight. I adore her.
Hello LeslieAnn! How are you doing? Welcome to the chog
Hello penquis! How are you doing today? Welcome to grid
Hello MimiCat!How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle
i am fine... i have been here a while....just lurking....finished this morning...
Congratulations penquis on finishing early.Good for you!
Hi, Min! Long time, no chat!
I guess ruru is gone...glad I checked in to get that movie recommendation.
Am now waiting for my slow cooker whole chicken with carrots, leeks, onions and potatoes....am LOVING this slow cooker!
hi folks!
hi
so mimi - this crock pot chicken you make - toss in a chicken, your vegetables and what else?
(must be a big crock pot)
guess you've gone - if you come back and see this, would you please post the recipe in your profile and include the size of your slow cooker? - thanks!
Hi welki! How are you doing today? Welcome to the grid.
hi min
(((mimi)))
((crossy)) How did your dental appointment go?
Welki, it's an 8-quart cooker and so far I'm just using a basic chicken recipe with lemons and garlic in the cavity along with salt and pepper...no additional liquid as the chicken makes enough. Veggies tossed in first and then the chicken on top with more salt and pepper on the outside of the chicken. I'm just getting the hang of it....making a roast next week and planning to use Campbell's French Onion soup and seasonings.
What if you don't have a slow cooker? How can you do this stove top?
thanks, mimi - will have to check the size of my slow cooker. i suppose you could do the chicken in the oven, low temp in a dutch oven, diane
I don't know if you can do it stovetop, Dianne, but if you have a large pot, you probably could if you cooked it very slowly. Also, probably in the oven on about 200 degrees but not sure.
how long do you leave it cooking, mimi? on low?
I got my slow cooker from Amazon for about $54 and it's a Hamilton Beach. I'm cooking the chicken on low for about 6 hours.
The first one I made was actually falling off the bones tender but I had under seasoned it...hopefully this one will be better...45 minutes to go!
Well, crossy---waiting for a reply!
hahaha! just checked my crock pot - 3 quarts! maybe a cornish hen instead of a chicken! lOLOL
never got totally 'connected' to crock pot cookery - i leave too early in the morning and get home too late for most recipes
diane, slow cookers are also called dutch ovens. And yes, you can slow cook pretty much anything in a conventional oven. But using such consumes much more electricity/gas.
I got the biggest one I could find on Amazon because I want to do whole chickens and roasts and have enough for leftovers. I also like the idea of eating more fresh veggies.
I get the Slow Cooker newsletter and they have TONS of ideas.
Electricity is very expensive here so I'll wait until it is really cold to slow cook in the oven (2 birds with one stone kind of thing).
my dutch oven isn't electric, like a slow cooker. the dutch oven is ceramic over cast iron with a matching cover. the slow cooker (crock pot) is pottery that fits into an electric 'heater' with a glass cover
Sounds like you have an excellent Dutch oven, welki---I'll just bet you could do a slow cook recipe in it. I use my Dutch oven for many things but it's not nearly as nice as yours.
i make a simple chicken and rice in the dutch oven, dianne - saute some onion until translucent in your favorite cooking oil, brown chicken pieces, sprinkle with salt, pepper, paprika (and garlic if you like). pour in a cup of rice, put in enough water to just cover the chicken. stir to make the water orange -cover the pot and put in a 350 oven for about an hour. voila.
I'll try that - thanks, welki.
It does sound yummy, weiki
it's easy, one pot and what i consider 'comfort food' :)
leave the chicken pieces skin side up (if you use chicken with skin on)
welki, do you leave the skin on the chicken?
^5
it comes out great with/without skin
Welki, did you see the recipes I offered here before? I've sort of made it my mission to do easy, inexpensive but delicious recipes that I've created. Glad to send to anyone who wants them. For example, I have a mock chile relleno, cauliflower/ onio,/potato/ chicken and cheese casserole, and chicken spaghetti that are great and wonderful the day after.
my kids have my original dutch ovens - a couple of cast iron ones and one from norway that might be cast iron, but not as heavy. i have a le creuset knock-off from kitchen-aid that i bought on sale for under $30
If anyone wants these, just email me at catjdesigns@yahoo.com and will gladly send. I already have them all stored in my computer.
i've seen them, mimi - have to be careful with new recipes because of the carbs
g'night everyone - so tired and still chores to finish
The cauliflower casserole and chile relleno recipes would probably be OK for the carb-conscious, welki.
Finally almost time for dinner....smells so good. Bye all and hugs all around.
Bye Mimi and welki.
i am still here...
Me too penquis!
going to bed now...g'nite!
Goodbye penquis! I will see you tomorrow in the chat log

Hello dizgrannie! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
hi Min
sorry I ran away to get hot lemonade and "stuff"
hello everyone. thanx so much for all your kind words and prayers. i know that without the support of my babble friends this last week would not have been so tolerable.
I just finished grading papers, they went a lot faster than I expected tonight. :-) Next weekend, I should have a HUGE stack of things to grade, but those have a good rubric so I think I can pretty easily ...
GRANNY ROSE!!!!! *bounce bounce bounce*
((((((GR)))))))
Mother sends her love -- I told her, too. We are all holding you and your family in the light.
*giggle* {{ huggles}} and kisses to everyone.
Hello grannyrose! It's so nice to see you here! {{{HUGS}}}
thanx stid, and please thank mom for me.
I will. Meantime, how is your leg feeling today? Are you healing as expected?
hey min and thank-you
{{HUUGLES}} Rose, good to see you xoxo
btw, also available to clue though I am seriously out of practice
oh, stiddy...it is soooo much better than last year. there are times when i forget to use the crutches already, it is so much more comfortable. ( am only using crutches to maintain good alignment and to help with pain)
g'day, diz. and thanx hun
also using way less of the " strong " drugs. just not needing them.
wow. amazed and grateful you are healing faster and in less pain than last time! :-D
so am i. did i tell you what the surgeon did?
no -- you didn't... *curious mama look*
as planned plastic disc in tibia replaced with thicker one. then femoral prosthesis removed, with minimal bone damage, replaced with prosthesis with grooves in it, which interlock with grooves in plastic disc in tibia. no sideways movement, just the normal hinge movement as expected.
me is awaiting as well, plz explain, Rose
this does not preclude me from having a second replacement when needed in 10-15 years time.
wow. that sounds really nice, GR. I am glad it allows for later replacement. I know some set-ups are "one time only" deals and when they wear out you're stuck.
so the plastic disc takes the place of cartilage?
hi
*nodding head* yup, that was something foremost in my mind... yes, stiddy...it's just amazing.
hey ya jane
are you totally bionic now? Can you cauterize wounds with the wires in your fingertips yet? *wondering if others will remember the obscure reference to a Bionic Woman episode*
hey harpjane!
lolol....not quite.....
GR -- if you are on pinterest, I am trying to keep track of my intended and purchased products. The boards that have numbers in front of them are the "final" ideas.
Rose, how is your better half coping?
hmmmm, *puzzled look* have only been into your blog. there is somewhere else to look?
HI all - Rose, good to see you. Hugs to all :)
