hello everyone :)
hi nan
hi nan!
hi cyber
hey nan
nbt
go jane, go!
fireworks
wtg mitch
wow mitch. good for you!
stid, what happened when grandfather slipped? I was hoping you would be here
nbs, but still need n,a,a in middle column
oh, sorry, GF -- girlfriend.
ok, she is more likely to bounce
wow. stuck at 42 words. dont see the sixes or 7 or 8.
night all.
She didn't want to see a doc right away, but Tom just got back from taking her to the ER. I advised that an xray would be a good idea although the pain was manageable and there wasn't significant bruising after three hours.
sweet dreams mkg
I am worried because she tends to not bounce very well. She has "loose joints" that make her a little more vulnerable to deep damage than other young people.
nite mkg
finally NBT/NBS
what about swelling?
well done grannie
mkg...na 6 was used in Vietnam
yay, grannie!
a bit of swelling in the most common location (over the outside ankle bone), but we had it wrapped soon after it happened, so that could have kept it down.
Hi all :)
mkg..ma 7/8 disease caused by mosquitoes
hi Liz!
sounds pretty good then stid. Sprains hurt but breaks swell
I agree, bugs -- I suspect it's NOT broken, but I also know that I am not an expert and I wanted to be sure. I think her mom gets off work in half an hour, then she will see my text and she can go decide.
I suspect GF won't be seen yet... they tend to be pretty slow at the local ER
best to leave it to mother then. I got prett
Sounds like you gave her good advice about getting it checked out!
I got pretty good service because I arrived by ambulance but usually it is an all day exercise
I am tired out too so I will wish everyone Happy Babbling and will head out to bed.
I've just realised, that you're back Bugs, after your accident. Sorry! How are you?
yes, she wasn't in so much pain she couldn't ride three blocks in a car (she's just down the street from our apartment and WE are kitty-corner from the ER. :-D convenient for "frequent fliers" medical wise!
sweet dreams dear Bugs -- be well, keep healing. See you again soon!
Sleep well Bugs - feel better every day :)
Has your term finished yet, stir?
Stid!
nbt finally
WTG nan :)
would love a clue on either of the center column As...
no, one more week. I am going to be pushing pretty hard to finish the "must do" assignments in the first three days and then Thurs and Fri we'll back off and do some review games and "party" activities
LOL Liz!
Auto correct, as usual! How does it feel having got to the end of the first term (well, more or less)?
oh, first term doesn't end until January 31....
jbp - I think it's aw 5 / 18. a + w4
we are on "semesters" so two major grading periods each year. We also send home mid-terms at the quarter marks, no parents panicked at those, so I assume things are okay...
OK - different semester system.
thx, Liz! that's the ctr one
LOL it's a rough time of year for us, though -- the kids are not well served by having a major school break AND two holidays in a 6-week period.
Sounds good, Stid (capitals avoid auto correct!)
Don't have the bottom one, jbp.
We start beginning of September and run thorugh middle of June, with a 2-week break in December and a 1-week break in April.
ok, our monkeys can work in tandem.
how about the E?
I can imagine, Stid. Wow! That's hard going. We used to think Sept - 21 / 22 Dec, with just one week in the middle off, was a long term!
No, sorry!
just got it. a + home for peas
Hello all -- sorry I missed Bugs. I never did hear about her accident -- what happened?
That reads wrong - beginning of Sept until 21 / 22 Dec
ty, jbp and hi Jilli :)
hey jill
how's your leg?
love it when I can actually help. -)
Like stid said, Jilli!
eq5
tyvm tor!
ty Tor! Should've seen that one, all things being eq 5!
Leg is somewhat better -- doc stopped meds -- but it's not all better. We'll see.
hey tor!
hopefully your immune system can do the rest, jill
Have you got another appt soon, Jilli?
Heyas kids ..
I hope you're right, sitd -- I haven't got time for this!
it is freezing in this room, so I will sign off for now. hope everyone is well.
Sleep well jbp :)
later jbp -- hope you can get warm soon!
Liz, doc is on call on Monday at the local hopital and said to drop in any time oif necessary.
aagh, typos all over the place.
Don't just hang around, then Jilli. If you're not happy, drop in, as the doc said!
hello everyone.. just got in late
hey ruru!
Hi Ru
hi. 1 st row grey (;
hoping it's warmer for you now!
hi ru -- so did I
Hi melon
go melon go!!!
hi everybody, hi torgone
Hi mab
hi, Lizlin, stidmama, jilli, ruru, did I miss anyone?
hi, mab!
hi
hey mab!
went to a christmas party
ru just in from dining on bacon?
tonight
and ice
actually coq au vin.. i didn't eat much
Fun icon!
i enjoy dinner parties
eating a salad now at home
why not, ru? Lovely coq au vin!
I don't know jilli.. it just didn't appeal to me today
I think bacon au vin sounds better... LOL
Me too! It's not something that the people I mix with here in Aus seem to do - at least not how we did in England.
Well, the Ps an Qs were a breeze.
hi dc
I'm missing one q still
Have both q's - short on ps though.
now I"m not
oh, ive not minded them yet
evening, jill, stud, ruru, man, g'day lizlin
:)
go ruru go! hey seain
there. NBT. I shall head out. Good to see you-all!
i'm wide awake for some reason. Usually scrubbing the kitchen at the end of the day is my wind-down.
I'll see you later! *poof*
Sleep well stid
weird wind down dc
so is anyoe going to tell me about bug's accident?
be well, stir.
BUGS had another accident?
bugsaw was in an accident!
Not sure Jilli - other than I knew that she'd had one. Possibly broken leg or ankle?
i mean ?
phantom: palatial
Slipped, I think.
FWs
Congrats, Diz :)
ty
well done, diz
I don't think so, ru -- she was back here just before you got here and just as I arrived she left.
yay diz!
taDah, dizg!
ruru, cleaning up the kitchen has been the last thing i do for many, many years now.
all I heard jilli.. is that she was laid up with a really bad leg or hip issue
hip issue.
these tiles seem not to have been shuffled very well
I'm a clean it somewhat after dinner and nail the rest of it in the A>M kind of guy DC
ooh, sounds painful
dc, sorry to hear. I too, have a hip issue, trying to put off THR to june.
i'll sometimes will leave a pot to soak till the AM. But i really like getting up to a pristine kitchen.
I've pulled off the oven knob so as to not accidentally turn it on and hid dirty dishes in the oven.
melon, bugsaw, not me. Though my time will come i imagine if i live long enough.
I hear that.. but if you really use a lot of stuff making dinner.. it's too much
I'm with you, DC as far as how I leave the kitchen at night.
Hate waking up to last night's dishes!
tonight i just made risotto, so it was not a lot.
seriously, arthritis in my right hand is worse. Thumb and index finger joints have lost grip strength. My son does the disehs when asked. I'm learning to do things like pick up pitchers and pans with left hand, all so I can get in a half hour at the piano every day.
Though the baby bottles were a chore now that there are 6 of them, fitting them and all the bits on the drying rack is a challenge.
Use the arthritic joint and move it as much as possible to maintain use of it.
baby bottles?
Wow - melon. I know how you love the piano - that must be tough for you, if you can't reach the way you could. I imagine it must hurt playing.
i'm a nanny.
oh
my charge is 10.5 months.
oh.. how about that
ohhhhhh. i thought there might have been a blessed event in your family dc.
do you need to borrow my goat Icon DC?
:D
how did you learn about babies, dc?
i scarcely know one end from the other...
hi, Liz, playing doesn't hurt, it's just limited. I don't have stiffness in those joints, I actually have hyperflexibility. Same thing is happening in one ankle. They say getting old isn't for sissies.
i suppose one could easily get a book on the topic.
Similarly, I may be selling my bass. Holding the bow is next to impossible and a fellow bassist has a former student who is launching a career.
OK - thanks melon, for explaining. Glad you can still play.
"Babies for Dummies"
Sleep well all of you - when you do! BBL
bye liz
that would be up my alley, chrissie
yqw. It's my best half hour of the day. I've been concentrating on a few pieces that were touchstones when I studied. Seeing my teachers' handwriting in the margins is touching.
:)
nite, lZlin!
anyone have the na 5/10?
i have known babies, just never owned one
*turns to section.. how do you stop the poop from coming out*
Or good day?
Glad you can still play now you have your dream piano melon
nm - found it
*!* ta da *!*
you don't own babies - they own you
wtg nan!
well done, nan.
I'm not an impulse buyer either mab :D
Put off by the poop ruru?
Thanks, ChrissieDee. The joy has not gotten stale.
i find babies fascinating, just never wanted little ones.
the poop is unbearable
good night, everyone -- see you tomorrow :)
bye nan
congrats
man.. this is a little snarky grid
i wish narwhal were in here.
..tries to slip an H in the grid for mab....
Actually, ruru, the first months aren't bad at all if one nurses the baby. That first gulp of anything that's not mother's milk produces stinkbomb, tho, and thereafter, alas. Good thing they're such cute little beasties.
I agree about this grid,ruru
Me too jilli
hi chrissie
nbt
phantom: wapiti
i'm stuck
damn.. I got roped into the la6
ty ru
:D jilli
nmt at last. halfway. now to figure out that blasted wa7 for mediocrity.
anyone know what the 8 begins with?
yes.
Ma8
Hahaha
thanks.. got it
I was being a wiseass for ruru.
:D
get in line melon.. you ain't the first :D
What? I gotta take a number now?!
woohoo, got the wa6/7 mathematically! Mediocrity attained!
Queuing behind melon for the wa7...
Which W does it come from melon?
Got them :)
Well, if you got the 4 letter words that follow, it becomes obvious.
There you go, CD!
nbs
Go jilli
I looked up the def. My first guess was that it was some sort of South African antelope. Nope.
yay, jilli!
ty melon
My guess would be place to shop for people with loads of cash
haha. My first guess before I checked the point count on lickety was wadman.
halfway and that's enough for me -- goodnight all and ...*poof
nite jilli, sleep tite!
Night jilli, hope you leg keeps improving x
Also going, saving 30 for later. Bye melon :)
OK, wadman might not be a word, but the guy with some "bud" is...
yes, jilli, feel and get better!
looks for "All By Myself" on youtube...
just looked at the clock! nitey nite, all! Anybody?.... [poof]
Greetings Friends
Gooooooooooooooood morning fellow Babblers and judging by the difficulties I'm having with this grid I'm gonna guess at around 75 to 80 words
right on Wor--80 and good morning
1-8 and 2-7's
Morning Pug xx I don't know how I guess so correctly - was a bit off the other day, but usually I'm good!
maybe it was because it was friday the 13th=lol
I think there were about 92 words that day and my guess was 150-175 - silly old fool lmao
too far back for me to remember so I will take your word for it-lol
If I disappear from chat it's because I keep losing Babble (plus my FB so I don't think it's Dr God this time!!)
Iam getting red boxes off and on too
Ah, maybe it's PARTLY Dr God then lol - I shall have to take him in hand and give him a good talking to
got back in at last!
good morning all :)
:) Morning Sprite
hi sweetie *hugs*. Emailed you back.
good, thank you Sprite
jeezzz what's with the tiny grids lately. Stupid letter combos.
its so good to see someone-lol-----Its a hard one for me---plus me and Wor have been having trouble staying connected
Iam struggling just trying to get halfway
looks like a tough one indeed. Glad to see you too, pug.
the grids with good endings are always easier, because you get series then. This looks like a one-work-of-a-kind kind of grid.
I know I got really use my brain power on this--lol and thats not say much
lol
dont look like I can talk too well either
hold on, sweetie, no need to bring yourself down!
How are you today
am good. Bit of a rough night, glad to be awake. And you?
well look how I worded that about my brain--looks like a first grader wrote that
Iam so much better---------still having bad dreams
we all make posts like that now and then, lol.
yeah, still bad dreams. But this too shall pass, and it is better than no sleep. Glad you are so much better! Can you sit normally again?
If nothing goes wrong I am going to make the doctor appointment for my sister. So that means getting out away from the house so that will make me feel better and yes on the sitting but still sore
does what you read or watch on tv cause these bad dreams
I hope it will be over soon. Yay on the doctor's appointment. Will be so nice to be away from the house for a bit.
pug: no, just things from my childhood popping back in. Always happens in december, for some reason. It isn't as bad as other years though, so I think we are making progress :)
we lucked out on getting rain instead of all that snow! And now we are to have a week of warming temps. 45 by friday but another storm over the weekend again :(--------dont know what it is about the week-ends and these storms
ok, that storm is no fun. But the rest sounds okay. A nice relief from having to stay indoors.
Maybe the dreams are for you to see what happen in a different light. You know as a adult you see things through different eyes then as a child
who knows. Though in my dreams I see them through a child's eyes still. Ah well, it will pass.
I put on my gear and took a walk yesterday even though I was slipping and sliding, the fresh air felt good and made me feel better
awesome, pug. Just what you needed, I bet. Good for you!
maybe so Sprite but when you awake you have the adult mind to reflex back on
this might be a self healing part for yourself
it is very frustrating. It is part of the ptsd, one of the known symptoms. I don't think it has any beneficial sides, to be honest.
then I will pray for you that these dreams will fade from you
thanks sweet pug. That would be great :)
I dont know what puzzle of yours to work next---I like the tulips, shoes and stars
oh... check out my newest one... I made one of unicorns!
Hi all :)
Loved, loved, loved the unicorns!
Okay will do!
hi Liz :D
Hi Mrs Liz, how are you
Excellent thanks - not here for long, though.
Sorry to read that you're both having such tough times :(
do you work your puzzle Sprite by putting the edges together first
am so glad, Liz, that you enjoyed it! And the tree one... I loved that one too... and yes we can all live there, room enough :)
always, pug.
I do it like that, pugs, but put other bits in as I go, if I see them.
Liz, it is just the dreams for me. Am doing pretty well at the moment!
Oh Iam okay Liz
I realise that but bad dreams can really drain you and leave you pretty shaken.
I don't like this grid!
Me either! Liz
very true. But I am kinda used to having them... it is a 'normal' part of ptsd.
I always like the grids. Some because they are smooth and easygoing... others because they are tough and challenging... :D
I got lickety's list and I still got to strain my brain to find the words
I really wish everyone could share in my life - I'm sooooo lucky. Fab hubby, good health, lovely house, lovely surroundings - and good friends here on babble!.
I love it that you are so happy and lucky, Liz!
True, sprite. I'm still enjoying it. Over halfway and that was with multi-tasking and finishing the unicorns.
Iam so happy for you Liz-:)
Haven't listed yet - like to see how far I can go before I get fed up struggling!
I really feel for my babble friends that are having such tough times and wish that I could help. So generally I just don't say too much about my life unless directly asked!
same here. A lot of struggling going on, lol. No idea yet about the biggies. But at least made it past halfway.
I have the 7 / 8 but don't have the 2nd 7.
Liz, I LOVE reading about it. It inspires me and gives me hope and makes me realise things can really be different.
I been wanting to ask when the q and u are here how is that counted? Is the u 2points like the lone u
no, the Qu is a combination and is worth 5.
Just 5 points for the Qu tile.
okay, thanks
So qu 4 / 8 is the qu + w other tiles.
but for some weird reason it seems to be multiplied counting it as 2 letters.
That w should've been a 2!
lol
Good to see the feisty tiger bunny icon!
they are so close, those two
thanks Liz! I love it too. Hear me roar!
counting the points helps me find some of the words
Just careless typing!
working the grid like a pro, pug!
careless typing, that is how I find most words, lolol
That happens with me too - especially when I use my iPad and don't notice an auto-correct!
lol that is even funnier
thats how I found po6 but have no ideal what it means---a drug guy? lol
Don't have the word yet pugs!
Pug - it's a male who works behind the bar in a pub in UK.
a guy serving beer, pug.
thank you guys
Jac!!!!!!!!! *hugs* Lonnnnng time no see, how have you been?
thanks jac! Now I know the word!
Morning all. xx
morning Jacula
Hi Sprite. ((hugs)) Sorry, you won't get a Christmas card this year - I left it too late for my overseas cards. xx
OK time to go and relax with hubby for a while. 36 to finish off later or tomorrow. Enjoy your days / evenings :)
same here, Jac. No problem :D I will think of you when lighting the candles... and wishing you the best of the best.
Ditto Sprite. xx
enjoy, Liz. Have a lovely evening. *hug*
Hugs to all :)
'Bye Liz. x
bye Liz and enjoy
found the hat and the firebomb substance. Only 6s though.
Ive passed the halfway point now
yay pug! Good job!
23 left to find here.
down to 19 but struggling
wow sprite and you've only been her 5 minutes
silly pug! More like 45, I think.
and Jacula too, heres its took me about 2 hours to get what Ive got
Jac is very very good, pug.
finally, a 7/8 combo
Me, too, sprite - the mosquito illness.
we are going to the cinema later today. For part II of the Hobbit. It is a treat for our children who both had good grades. We are taking Tim's girlfriend and one of Caya's friends too.
yes, that combo, indeed.
That should be good, sprite. We've got to go to the wholesalers for some bulk shopping. You'll have more fun, I think!
that sounds like a nice outing for your family Sprite----how did your singing thing go
practice went well, pug. Another round on tuesday, then thursday the recital.
lol yes, I think so too, Jac! Am not hot on shopping, to be honest.
are you getting nervous about it
no, not at all. Seems I don't give a rat's fart anymore about making a fool of myself in public. Guess I got enough practise, lol.
You must have alot to get for Jacula to have to buy in bulk
I doubt that you will Sprite! Are you and your daughter going to dress alike
Jac is always making so many great dishes! You should see the pics of her puddings and pies of last Christmas.
pug - It's just stuff like loo rolls, kitchen roll, tea bags, coffee, glace cherries. Oh, and a case of champagne for gifts this time. :)
no, we aren't even in the same song, pug. She is with a couple of girls her age and they are doing Imagine. I am with some other ladies doing Cold Cold Christmas.
are the pic here of your pies and such
that is even less fun shopping, Jac! Just the bare necessities.
Jac posted them on FB, I believe
Ive never heard that song Sprite can I find it on the computer somewhere
pug - on FB.
I will give you the links, pug, hold on
yeah and with the prices of just the basic needs its awful
sprite - is that song the same as Blue Christmas?
okay sprite
will this be you singing it?
this is Dana: http://tinyurl.com/lczajt7
no, I don't think so, Jac
and this one for Caya: http://tinyurl.com/3jrdqpq
thanks I will go there after here---are they in english
yes, both in english
I know the song now, sprite. Shame Jimmy S (the dj) is on the clip! :(
are you guys doing this to raise money for something
Just got the hat! Dunno why it took me so long. 6 left to find now.
no pug, just for fun. And for our loved ones to hear what we are doing.
I see the Aussie snake's reared its head again. (ta6.21)
lol, some words are like that, Jac... hiding in full view.
thanks, was missing that one
y/w :)
3 left. Still a 7 missing, lol
w2g you guys
sprite - wa7/52 - same as the wa6/36 that comes after it, but with an extra vowel towards the end.
there is a ma7 and wa7
I need clues for both, please
ok thanks! New one for me. Must look up the def.
FIREWORKS! *~*~*~
don't have the wa6 either?
Fireflies here as well
congrats Jacula
congrats Jac
congrats sprite
ok, the wa6/7 is: 'a bulky woolen fabric woven of coarse yarn and heavily napped, formerly much used in England and Scandinavia for the manufacture of durable winter garments.'
yayyyyy Jac!
congrats to you too Sprite!
W + what you put in the papers to sell something + I go shopping in the ***l.
I'd better get off and get a late breakfast and then get some letters written. We can go to the wholesaler's once my stepdaughter gets here. Happy Babbling all, and - Sprite - enjoy your film. xx
morning Marc
will do! Have a grand day, Jac.
'Byeee.. xx

bye Jac

i am well - you?
not bad at all. a tad on the chilly side but it is winter after all
my chilly and yours are different :) It's 63F and rainy!!
here it is minus 14 c or 9 F
oh geesh!
supposed to warm up to minus 6c though this afternoon:))
heat wave!!
:)
have not been bit by a mosquito in days though:))))
ROFL
poopy small grid for a Sunday
i agree ruby
I hate these small ones, things are usually stuffed with exotic words and babblets
((ruby))
i'm finding it very hard
((crossy))
it is always hard for me, but at least with the big grids, there's something to play with
Hello, everyone!
hi mimi
Got a big day ahead. My ex is coming over to help me get my patio fixed up (finally) and I'm so happy about it. It's a bit too much for me to do by myself, so he will do the heavy lifting and such. My cats will finally be able to be outside but safe.
((ruby))
((mimi))
that's nice, mimi, having somebody to do the heavy lifting
((crossy))
a nice 9f today, mimi. come snowshoeing with crossy
the only time I went snowshoeing, I fell into a deep drift and had to be pulled out. Not a sport for me!
Getting up to about 70 here today, crossy---really great weather. I am, however, coming down with a cold and cannot be sick today, so trying a bit of mind control telling myself I am not sick...we'll see if it works! Have been forcing vitamin C.
how water and honey, mimi
hot*
I would actually love to go snowshoeing, crossy, but I fear I no longer have the stamina for it due to the heart condition. :(
Am having hot tea with honey as we speak, ruby.
Dr. Ruby
I used to be a skier, but no more since my neighbor, who was an expert, became paralyzed and later died, from a freak accident
Remember we lost Sonny Bono and the gorgeous Natasha Richardson to skiing accidents?
mmm, tea with honey
I was always afraid that somebody, skiing out of control, would run me over and I'd be squshed
And creme brulee creamer...I like my tea the English way.
2 or 3 years ago,we lost a city lawyer wife on the hill.she had skied out of bounds, ito a restricted area, fell and broke her leg and was run over by a grooming machine
Yikes! Gruesome.
one time, I was skiing with my instructor (in Austria). I used her more for protection than anything. We got to the bottom, went over the berm on the way to the lift and, voila, there was a grooming machine who didn't see me. I was about a foot short of beingrun over.
yes.one must always bee aware of the location of the grooming machines
and now, a nap but not na6 lol
The next time DHthreatens to leave, I'm packing his suitcase and calling a taxi
Natasha, I believe, had a bad fall and no one realized she had a contrecoup injury which got worse and killed her a couple of days later. So sad.
DO IT, RUBY!!!
*woof*
Crossy, did you notice your exit word in the grid the other day---poink?
lol.make sure all the exits are clearly marked ,ruby
yup,i use poink
I mentioned it but don't think you were around anymore at the time.
I do so because poof is a derogatory word in several European countries
slang word that is
I didn't know that, crossy...will have to think of a better exit word.
How do you like my Christmas tree icon? I love the idea of a Christmas made out of stars.
it is very pretty, but of a jumbo size.however,it does not seem to be affecting the site so all is well
I didn't know that...it doesn't even show up for me when I pull up the profile.
You wouldn't believe how much effort it took to finally get it uploaded.
lol.it is massive.i cannot even get it all on my 24 inch monitor
but it seem to be ok
I should go back and try to get a smaller size.
I am getting roughly 1/4 of it maybe less. I think this is an entire wall mural hehe
They had size options but I have no idea what size I need, so I just grabbed one...will know better now.
try a 1024x 768
that is a standard monitor
Really hard to type over large gray cat who keeps grabbing my arm and wanting to be affectionate!
the cats do rule us
Will try that size, crossy. Maybe that's why it was so difficult to upload?
Learn something every day!
mine is actually 1900x something but 1024x768 should be ok or even 800x600
depends if you want a full screen or just half or less
Just like a woman to be going on about size :D
I just did pull it up on my profile and, wow, you are right! Had no idea! Must work on that tomorrow...am sure I'll be exhausted after today's activities. My ex is also bringing over the Christmas ornaments he brought back from our storage and we're going through them. I'm afraid to see the condition they're in...they were in storage for a decade!
Hey, ruru, crossy started it!
Lol
And good morning ((ruru)).
Is anyone else totally annoyed by the nearly constant Windows updates? I just installed one last night and now it's telling me there's another one!
I have an apple. no windows updates for me.
I feel the same way about google's updates
I don't get those, ruru. But wonder why there are all these updates and if I really need to install them. Sometimes they screw up other things.
So, does Apple not do updates, mixi?
And, if I don't notice there's one coming and postpone it, it restarts my computer automatically...really hate that.
yes they do. My computer checks weekly. doesn't always have one.
Crossy, do you know if I can eliminate the updates and whether it actually would make a difference?
I have my updates set to manual
so I have to actually hunt foor any updates as they come out
you using windows 7, mimi?
Yes.
Is anyone else having their chat text jumped up and down?
Not mine, Annie.
one sec. let me check something on it
Try refresh, Annie.
nor mine.
okay Mimi, and hi
Morning, dear.
na6! Fireworks.
ok,mimi. as long as you have service pack one installed, you should be ok to turn off the auto download for it,but leave the reminder setting on
Whoa, mixi...WTG!
refreshing didnt work
YAY for mixii !!!
well this is a disappointment i am out of here poof
is your text still jumping up and down, annie?
yes, crossy
And I can find that info in the Properties, crossy? Everything came already installed on this one.
one sec, mimi.i will check the path for you
start/control panel/windows update
then go to change settings
you can custom set it from there
THANK YOU!! You're the brother I never had, crossy!
:))
Done, crossy. We'll see how it works next time. You are, again, my hero!
just check there regularly for updates and get the important ones when you are in the mood to do so
once a week will be fine
The option I had was to have it notify me but to let me choose if I want to download and install, so I'll still get the info but won't have to worry about it automatically restarting my computer.
yup
:))
that is the setting I have as well
I also run my AVG scan every couple of weeks to defrag, remove junk files, etc. That really helps. Can always tell when computer is slowing down that I need to do that. And I only have the free version.
good,good
another good thing is a free program called Ccleaner
http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
it is my go to for tidying up my computer
How does it differ from an AVG cleanup?
c cleaner will also clean your registry and is a top shelf uninstaller
but your avg one is good as well
The AVG does clean some registry but not all...have to get the paid version for that.
yes,we do not get all the bling with the free versions
I've been assuming that since my needs are relatively simple that I don't need more than the free versions.
no,i should think you do not, unless you download tons of movies or torrents
I'd love to make changes to my Word Document operations, though.
My sons do all those interactive games so they need much more capability. I just watch the movies through the Roku, so no downloading.
I have a full array of windows office stuff in this build,so I use it exclusively now
going to need it after my math class as I have tons of English to come yet
I have Microsoft Office...is your different?
mine is a older but functional version I was able to get for free as the entire Microsoft off suite is still very expensive here
word,excel,powerpoint and publisher
Crossy, if you ever need a good editor for your English compositions, I'm excellent at that (blushing at praising myself). Totally happy to help any time...you have my email address.
Was a bit of an English nerd in my youth...diagrammed sentences for FUN!
I may just take you up on that ,mimi as I will have tons of homework with me after the first week of the new year
the English I just did before the math got an 88%, so not too shabby myself;))
I've been a writer all my life. Wrote a one-act play when I was 10. It's a talent I seem to have been born with and one that I cherish. I even sometimes dream in words instead of pictures.
my next English however, is to be university entrance qualification level
me too, mimi --LOVED diagramming sentences LOL
That is a respectable percentage, crossy....bet I can help you at least get into the 90% range.
probably true of a lot of us. Otherwise why would be such word nerds?
just running by -- off to pick up rescue dogs -- BYEEE!
Une, I remember the first day the teacher introduced diagramming sentences... I think it was the only day i really enjoyed school
I wrote an original research paper when I went back to school (after 30 years) and got 100% on it...so proud. Hadn't written anything "technical" for all that time.
it is the structure that keeps me under 90%. I can write reams and reams of stuff, but my structure is a tad weak
indeed, dorens
Good for you, Une....so love that you help those dogs.
On the other hand, all math ever did was lower my grade point average.
yaa for puppies going to foster homes!
Crossy, I can totally help you with structure...and explain why any change is necessary...glad to help.
that is what math is doing to me now. got 90% in computers, 88% in English and I know darn well that even if I get the pass, the math will drag me down
hated diagramming sentences. loved math and science.
We all have our talents, mixi. My ex is so annoying...he was a physics major in college but is also very adept at English and a good writer....not fair!
I am guessing I will finish off with a 70-75 in this math class, but there is still 2 1/2 weeks to go yet
still don't care to know the difference between metaphor and simile.
Yep...some of it is can be rather pedantic.
gm, everyone. stats for the N third column 2nd row?
Mornin', dawg! Sorry, don't have it.
other was an english major, mother-in-law writes books.
*mother
na6/24 lbd
na5/10 and na6/24
Wow--they must have thought you were an alien child, mixi!
ty, looking
I beat my mother-in-law a scrabble, most of the time. Babble has helped.
I love the smell of na6 in the morning...
Oooo...bad na6/24...flashbacks to Vietnam.
ty bzzz, typed that in seconds before your clue!
Morning, Bea!
Good morning all.
Listening to the kittens tear up stuff upstairs...

Mixi, you are a Renaissance woman!
music and math really do go well together.
hello everyone :)
music and book are even better:))
hi annie and all again :-)
howdy, annie
morning, Wolvie
and crossy
Yes, they do, dawg, if you want to think of it that way...but getting math into it at all ruins the creativity for me...I'm sooo limited!
howdy wolvie
morning, annie
((Annie)) weren't you just here a bit ago?
crossy hates math:((
never left
'morning, everyone
hi dawg :)
ap 5/12
hi crossy, wolvie, mimi, mixi, phae, bzzz and lurkers
Good...thought I was having a senior moment.
oh and welki and o-o
and I love how they broke it up; 3 weeks of math before the break and 2 more weeks of it when we come back from break
I'm good at math as long as I don't have to add, subtract, multiply or divide. (I love calculators).
howdy,lbd
morning o-o
hi all again- everyone is checking in now lol
gotta go sing at church. poof.
they have me doing stuff like this ,mixi : 3x(y2x3b) / 32yx2x..that sort of crap but add exponents to it all
I'm leaving for a bit...probably until tonight. Gotta get ready for the big balcony makeover! Can't wait to see how it looks with the palm trees, lattice panels and solar lights....yay! Bye for now and hugs all around. (Getting out just in time...that last post is giving me a headache, crossy)
ty o-o
I loved algebra once I looked at it as a puzzle that needed to be solved.
yes,the order of operations then try to puzzle it out
Mimi, have a great day. I think it is your very large tree that is making my chat wonky.
it is the small things that kill me
Bea, what I loved was them telling me algebra helped me think logically....I always asked "How can it help me think logically if I'm always confused?" Haven't had to use algebra in the 40 years since "learning" it.
bye mimi and mixi
my problem is I forget it all in the space of a weekend. I joke with the teacher that she has to prime me like a pump every moday and set me loose
morning
hello jane
so,she does a review, and once I got it,i ask for all the work for the day, grind through it, get about 75% correct then repeat it all again next day
hi, jane
hi harp
Hi and bye, jane! Oh, and hi and bye wellki!
bacon is known to cause amnesia
dawg!
lol,perhaps ,o-o
it is the mathematical/bacon paradigm effect
Waiting for you to get that house here, welki! Now...I'm gone.
Crossy, try the tutorials at Khan Academy.
bye mimi
is the wa7 a familiar word?
No
Clue please?
ball of paper + sounds like a large shopping center

hi all
howdy mael
yaa for lbd!!
I'm waiting for my brother in law to come dig me out, it rained on the six inches of snow we got so it's a disgusting mess. I'd have a hard time under regular circumstances but six months pregnant is a no-no
so I feel a little useless
Congrats, lb ... these grids cause brain atrophy
hi mael, hi TO. must get going. brekkies and decorating aw5 my patience.
yes, best not to strain yourself with that.it will be very heavy to shift
thanks for the aw5!

ttfn
thanks lbd
maybe if we just used some na6/24...
i did something to my hand - feels like i sprained my thumb, but i don't remember bending it too far. has hurt like the dickens since yesterday morning
have you tried icing it, welki?
yes and now i have it taped but man alive, it is painful
yikes, take it easy with that
drop something on your foot to distract you from the hand
congrats, mael!
thanks annie!
tried hitting my head against the wall, o-o - maybe your remedy is more effective :)
see you all later, welki, hope your thumb feels better
thanks annie

I would die of curiosity.
ok, must run, yay for mael and Mr. mael!
our son used to jump on my beloveds bladder
thanks all! Backache and hip ache, actually, OB says I'm getting bursitis and that it's all pregnancy related :)

oh, yeah, the bladder trampoline is also a common maneuver
LOLOL
:D
(not that it's funny, but i remember that acrobatic maneuver all too well)
"maybe you have twins:)))))))
it is kinda funny, there's a baby kicking me in my internal organs!

Good day to all.
Hiya, Scrabbs!
How are you, Judi?
S'all good here.
Got my grocery shopping done. Just wolfed do4 some eggs. 2nd cup of joe. Ahhhhhh.

Hokey smokes!
Hokey made an unwise decision
What does the 8 start with?

Ty.
Hi o-o
over 40 inches! wow!
Yes, and it keeps coming!
I kinda wish we would get some... I'd love a snow day ; )

hagd scrab
have fun Scrabs
Wed/Thurs/Fri were snow days but life goes on. The sji resort across the valley is happily busy!
*ski
I'm surprised, Scrabbs. 40 inches of snow in western NY does not usually shut things down. They just plow it out of the way and soldier on.
they'll have a happy christmas then
Time to go saute my veggies. See y'all later! *POOF*
hagd judi

still working on the PA 6, any help?
ty
nm, just monkeyed it

NVM! *sigh*
*mutter mutter* rofl
talking to yourself again, stiddy?
it's a locative term (the pa 6)
hey LA! you bet! I am the only one who will listen! *grin* particularly if you are between 12 and 14 -- my voice seems to not be in your range of hearing...
P's propped up!
well luckily i am not!
stid does it build on teh 4/6 in any way?
no, the pa 5 is a type of grass, the pa 6 is a country
how are you, LA? I found you on pinterest...
does it come from the upper or lower P?
the upper p
good stiddy! having christmas at our house this year so getting ready for that. and for some reason hubby decided this was a good time to redo the bathroom too.
the lower P are all PL or PO words
hmph. I guess that means he has incentive to finish it??? *hopeful mama look*
NA 6 is too elusive for me today.
got the 6.
maybe it's this migraine. brb
i think so! he painted it yesterday while i was finishing up christmas shopping
NA 6 is a chemical used in Vietnam
ah, thanks phand
not getting the grass PA 5/16...
I sort of thought that was a proper noun...
well, I thought the PA 6 was a proper noun too...
you know, in argentina, the spiky clumps of large grasses named for their habitat the rangelands... pa***s... :-)
exactly! peculiar uses for words sometimes
nope, don't know that...
okay. P + unit of current + vowel
got it
go phand go!
down to 13 here
monkeyed before I saw your clue, that would have given it to me too!
My bathrooms won't be done by the end of the year, LA, but I am closing in on what I need to do for tiling the master shower
I was going to hire someone, but I think I should just do it myself for now.
if you have the skill and the time, Stidmama, you will save lots of money if you do it yourself...
I could us a clue for the PL 6 and the PO 6 pretty please
I hav the qu4.. could some one give me the stats for the other pls
I have the skill, but my strength is limited and the crouching and lifting will put my hip out for sure.
Qu 5/18,
PL 6 is like a british spelling for the award on the wall, or the tooth scum
qu5/18
well, that is something to consider, Stid.
qu + give ***s to the poor...
exactly -- IF I can get Tom and Grant to be actively engaged when the contractor says it's time to tile, THEN I know I can do it.
nice clue pen
ty
Hope you can get them engaged then.
thanks for the pl clue
PO 6?
person who makes cookware?
ty for the qu an pl clues
babblet...
sigh, thanks, stid. Should have seen that!
stuck on ma 7 and 8 -- any clues appreciated!
took me ages to see it. I don't "do" twisty very well any more. SO out of practice
mosquito disease....and add letter for adjective
they both relate to a mosquito born illness
okay, thanks penquis and phand *thinking*
yw...
got the 7...
and the 8 -- never saw the 8 before
down to 9!
ty for the ma's
me either
yw
LA, do you use Houzz to think about design? I found it about 7 months ago and really like it.
6 now...
12 fo rme
yeah, i've done a bit of poking around there.
go phand go!
4...
you too!
trying to finish before Matthew comes over. We have a family friend who lets him stay at her place and use her spare car when we are in town. It's nice for him.
we bought a house about a year ago. the main floor and the basement are amazing, but the top level i don't think has been updated since the house was built 20-25 years ago
lots of possibilities in a house like that!
the corner r... ra and ri or both ra?
yes we are having fun, and hubby has discovered he likes doing the diy house stuff
one of each
both 4's and common.
I have pretty close to reached my limit on planning and designing our house. There will be so many things I want to change within weeks of it being done, that I am taking the pressure off myself and focusing on the "must do" decisions for now. The contractor will prime the whole house and paint (one color only) walls and ceiling, for example, so I am going with a very light white for now which will be easy to paint over once I decide what I really want in each room.
one of each, rolin, both are 4-letters
but I like looking at houzz and imagining various things in place (eventually)
and ive never heard of either of them..lol
what's your timeline for finishing and getting moved in? or is that too far off?
I think we will be finished with most of it by the end of January. I know the cabinets were ordered last week for the kitchen, so they are about 3 weeks away from that. we meet with the electrician this week to tell him what we want for outlets and such. It will be pretty nice to have things closed off and insulated so we can get in and start actually working on things ourselves.
absolutely!
I know we will move in by the end of March. *optimistic mama look* I have not enjoyed most of this process. Too much and I felt I had too little time at the beginning to really make decisions that were optimal. I "settled" too fast on a couple things, but we can live with what we will have, and it will be nice anyway.
well and like you said, it will give you some projects to work on in your own time after you move in
Ds done!!!! (3)
now I am trying to keep my vision in line with what's left of our money. LOL We'll have a lot of unconnected lights for a few months until I have earned enough to buy the fixtures I want!!
haha. priorities!
did you see what the house looks like with the roofing on? I don't have a lot of great pictures, but Tom took one that shows the dormers and a bit of the skylight placement. I haven't been out there in over a week (teaching this time of year takes everything I have), so will go today and take a few of my own.
i have not. where are they?
stidmama (of course) . com
AP 5 pretty please?
still ahve 9 left...
go phand go!!!
and that is one that I need... sorry
AD 5 btw, is fishy fishy fishy...
the first one, I should clarify.
yesh, I found that one...
and the first al 5 is another locative...
nice progress stiddy! and what a beautiful pic of you on the front page.
thanks :-)
I look a LOT older now. *grin* almost 35 (unless you see the gray hair, and then it's more like 95...)
almost 35? well you are ancient then eh?
laundry rotationt time...
more like half a century... but I "feel" older than I look.
My daughter is 35. A baby
thanks for the reminder, phand... I have ONE MORE TO FIND... *sigh*
happy natal day, bichon! :-) my elder is 21 tomorrow.
GOT IT!!!!
huzzah!
and it was yet another word that appears locative to me, but I suspect it has something to do with bees...
my eldest wil be 41 next month!
OTOH, We just finished shoveling the driveway.
yep. "of or pertaining to bees"
i will bookmark your blog. I think I had done that a while back but then switched compys and lost it
yuck, (shoveling snow) and wow, you don't look old enough to have kids that age, bichon!
I'm 67 and a half. Feel that old
I should have a few more pics up this evening, then I will have two weeks to get my "real life" back in order before kids return to the classroom again
well, after shoveling snow, I would feel that old, too. :-)
anyway, I should go dry my hair before I go out. I look pretty frightful. any clues before I go?
nah, i'm working on a few other things, am barely in the grid right now
okay, I'll head out then. Good to see you-all -- have a wonderful holiday with your get-together, LA! And enjoy your "new" bathroom. :-) *poof*
anyone here to give a clue? I cannot see the TA 6 for the life of me.
it is the name of a James Clavell novel....japanese for leader of a foreign company, i think...
ta + personal pronoun + a cooking pot is also a ***....
thanks. I was looking at a-z saw that word but didn't see it in the puzzle. should have tried it as it was the only possible word in the list!
yw

of the other people in the house, 2 are good for nothing and the other two have health issues so that leaves me to do the shoveling.

Or a place of course.

well i figured it was a hat...
the la6 is a lasso
ty o-o and mael. both words I should have found myself. oh well

I still have 27 lef.

** finito ** last word LA 5/10 - didn't enjoy this grid - too many weird words, more than usual
yay teach!
well it took me 40 min to dig out my car....glad that's done!
how much snow did you get?
about a foot i think...
i am getting too old to shovel!
nice
luckily it was dry snow....light, fluffy
we had freezing rain and fog yesterday... less pretty.

no teenager kids in the neighborhood to hire?
no one comes around here. once when it snowed really bad a few years ago a man came by but I could have done better than he did. I had to finish up when he left

oh...i understand...
I don't
and now it is time fro crossy's geek tidbit of the day!!!! .take a broken cat laser toy, take it apart and remove the small lens inside. no take a bobby pin and place the small lens in the end of the pin. you will notice that it grips the small lens perfectly. Now thake the bobby pin with the lens in place and tape it to the back of your smart pone so the laser lens lines up with the camera lens on the phone. You are done!! you have just created a way to do macrophotography with your phone!

Thanks, pen. My ex brought the Christmas that had been in our storage and I haven't seen these things for YEARS... He helped get my patio organized a bit, too. He's really to have for the heavy lifting!
nice....i, on the other hand, had to dig out my car today....foot of snow here....and very cold...
i put up the tree and one section won't light :(
72 Temple Owl, don't you test lights BEFORE putting'em on
pre wired tree
Oh no,that totally sucks! I am so sorry for your frustrations!
Hi Min. Just wanted to say I thought it was nice of you to put up an icon in remembrance of Sandy Hook yesterday.
I hate when that happens. I can't have a tree because I have at least one crazy cat who would simply hurl himself at it and pull it down...really. No room anyway in this apt. But am finally going to use the balcony as an extension of my living room so that will be nice
Can you easily exchange the tree, TO?
and i can see i am still rather put out about the tree and so will finish and go
Awwww, TO, so sorry.
Hello there MollyL!Thanks! It is a very hard time of year for those in Newtown.I'm still so saddened by the whole thing!
